AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing motorcycle cases lack a reliable locking mechanism that can withstand the high stresses and forces encountered during riding, particularly at high speeds and in rough terrain, leading to unintentional opening.

Method used

A direct coupling mechanism between the actuating element and the locking element, using a translationally mounted traversing unit, ensures the case is securely locked when the actuating element is in the closed position, eliminating the need for springs or tension elements.

Benefits of technology

The locking mechanism provides a reliable, spring-less closure that ensures the case remains locked unless intentionally unlocked, offering enhanced security against unintentional opening.

Abstract

The invention relates to a case for a motorcycle, comprising a case lid which can be opened in an opening direction, wherein: the case has a closing mechanism for locking the case lid; the closing mechanism has an actuation element and at least one locking element having a holding portion which, when moved into a closed position, can be brought into engagement with an engagement element associated with the case lid, in such a way that the case lid is prevented from opening; and the locking element is arranged on a translationally mounted movement unit, which is directly motion-coupled to the actuation element, for moving between an open position and the closed position.
