AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing push-and-turn knobs on cooking appliances can be unintentionally operated due to accidental contact, posing safety risks such as fire or burns, especially when not locked properly, and require separate lock button operation.

Method used

A knob assembly design featuring a knob body that rotates and moves axially, with a lock button mechanism that restricts axial movement unless pressed, allowing operation through a three-stage process: lock button press, knob press, and rotation, and incorporating a knob ring that can release or fix the lock function based on its position, eliminating the need for separate lock button operation.

Benefits of technology

Enhances safety by preventing accidental operation, improves usability with a unified aesthetic design, and reduces the likelihood of unintended manipulation, ensuring both safety and convenience.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a knob assembly and a cooking appliance comprising same. The present invention may comprise: a knob body (NB) which is rotated about a driving shaft (71) protruding from an operation panel (30), and is linearly moved in the axial direction of the driving shaft (71); and a lock button (140) which is equipped with a manipulation portion (143) exposed to the outside of the knob body (NB), and has a knob lock position for restricting the axial movement of the knob body (NB), and a knob unlock position for allowing the axial movement. The knob body (NB) may comprise: a main body (120) which is coupled to the driving shaft (71); and a knob ring (170) which is rotatably coupled to the main body (120) and defines the exterior of a knob assembly (100), together with the main body (120) and the manipulation portion (143). The knob ring (170) may have a button release position for allowing the movement of the lock button (140), and a button restriction position for restricting the movement of the lock button (140) by rotating relative to the main body (120) from the button release position.
