Bottle comprising a body made of a fiber-based material with a compensation portion having an elongated cross section

The bottle's elongated cross-section compensation portion allows elastic deformation to a circular shape upon impact, enhancing mechanical resistance and reducing weight and cost by absorbing kinetic energy, addressing the failure issues of fiber-based bottles in drop tests.

Abstract

The bottle (1) comprises a body (2) defining an inner volume (4). The body (2) is made of a fiber-based material. The body (2) extends along a body axis (X) between a bottom portion (6) and a top portion (8). The body (2) comprises a compensation portion (11) extending along a length (L1) of the body (2) with respect to the body axis (X) to surround the inner volume (4). A cross section of the compensation portion (11), when viewed along the body axis (X), has an elongated shape. The body (2) is configured such that, when an impact force acts on an outside of the bottom portion (6), the compensation portion (11) can elastically deform elastically such that its cross section, when viewed along the body axis (X), has a shape being closer to a circular shape than the said elongated shape.
