AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Fiber-reinforced composite materials used in products like aircraft components and wind turbine blades suffer from poor light resistance, as the resin mixing during co-curing with surface materials reduces their light resistance.

Method used

A prepreg with a non-porous buffer film and specific resin composition that suppresses resin mixing during co-curing, ensuring high light resistance and formability, comprising a fibrous substrate impregnated with a resin having low ultraviolet transmittance and a thermoplastic resin film.

Benefits of technology

The prepreg achieves excellent light resistance and formability by preventing resin mixing, maintaining the integrity and UV resistance of the composite material.

Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a prepreg that has excellent lightfastness, can suppress resin mixing of fiber-reinforced composite materials during co-curing, and also has shapeability; and a fiber-reinforced composite material obtained by laminating the prepreg on the surface of a fiber-reinforced composite material and curing, the fiber-reinforced composite material also being able to be molded into complex shapes. The present invention has the following configuration. A prepreg that satisfies condition (c) and in which a substantially non-porous cushioning film [B] that satisfies condition (b) is present on one surface of a fiber base material [C] at least partially impregnated with a resin [A] that satisfies condition (a). (a) The average transmittance of ultraviolet and visible light in the wavelength range of 280-350 nm is 10% or less. (b) The constituent molecules comprise a linked structure in which a plurality of atoms forming the main chain are connected via covalent, ionic, or metallic bonds, totaling 2,000 or more atoms. (c) A 1 m square prepreg can form, without generating wrinkles, a perfectly circular cross-section having a diameter of 0.3 m for which one of the sides serves as the circumference, and with the side on which the cushioning film [B] is disposed facing inward.
