[0056] It is noted the communication devices mentioned herein are only for the purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. Embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited here.

[0057] FIG. 1C illustrates an example communication environment 100C in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. The communication environment 100C includes a plurality of communication devices, including a device or an entity implementing an Application Function (AF) 111 (also referred to as AF 111 for purpose of discussion) , a device or an entity implementing a network exposure function (NEF) 112 (also referred to as NEF 112 for purpose of discussion) , a device or an entity implementing a network repository function (NRF) 113 (also referred to as NRF 113 for purpose of discussion) , and a device or an entity implementing an AIoT function 114 (also referred to as “AIoT function” 114 or “AIoTF” 114 for purpose of discussion) . The example embodiments discussed with respect to FIG. 1C may be implementations of the example embodiments discussed with reference to FIG. 1A.

[0058] In the example communication environment 100C, the communication devices may communicate with each other via the bus structure (also referred to as the “bus” for purpose of discussion) . For example, the AF 111 may communicate with the AIoTF 114 bidirectionally via the bus.

[0060] FIG. 2A illustrates an example communication environment 200A of the AIoT device. In the communication environment 200A, a plurality of communication devices, including an ambient IoT (AIoT) device 210, a network device 230 can communicate with each other.

[0061] In the example of FIG. 2A, the ambient IoT device 210 may communicate bidirectionally with the network device 230. In the communication environment 200A, the network device 230 may be a base station. For example, the network device 230 may be outdoor, and the ambient IoT device 110 may be indoor.

[0062] The network device 230 may be a NG-RAN device. As used herein, the term "RAN" refers to the Radio Access Network, a critical component of wireless communication systems such as LTE and 5G. The RAN connects devices, such as smartphones and IoT devices, to the core network, facilitating the transmission of data and control signals. “NG-RAN” , also known as the next generation RAN, is an important part of the 5G network architecture. In some examples, the network device 230 is sometimes referred to as a NG-RAN device.

[0063] FIG. 2B illustrates an example communication environment 200B of the AIoT device. In the communication environment 200B, a plurality of communication devices, including an ambient IoT (AIoT) device 210, a network device 230, and an intermediate node 220, can communicate with each other.

[0064] In the example of FIG. 2B, the ambient IoT device 210 may communicate bidirectionally with an intermediate node 220 between the ambient IoT device 210 and the network device 230. In the communication environment 200B, the network device 230 may be a base station serving an intermediate node 220. The intermediate node 220 may be a UE, a relay, an IAB node, a repeater, and the like which is capable of Ambient IoT. The intermediate node 220 may transfer Ambient IoT data and / or signaling between the ambient IoT device 210 and the network device 230, and a UE may act as an intermediate node 220 which is under the control of the network device 230. For example, the network device 230 may be outdoor, and the ambient IoT device 210 may be indoor.

[0065] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 200A and 200B may include any suitable number of devices. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 200A or 200B. It is noted that although illustrated as a network device, the network device 230 may be another device than a network device. Although illustrated as a terminal device, the intermediate node 220 may be other device than a terminal device.

[0066] The intermediate node 220 may operate as a UE which may be authorized to be an intermediate node, and the network device 230 operating as a base station. However, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0067] The AIoT device 210 may be a terminal device (e.g., UE) and the network device 230 may be a base station (e.g., gNB) . In this case, a link from the network device 230 to the AIoT device 210 may be referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the AIoT device 210 to the network device 230 may be referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network device 230 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the AIoT device 210 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the AIoT device 210 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 230 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0068] In the examples shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the AIoT device 210 may include an energy harvesting module and a backscattering module. The intermediate node 220 (e.g., UE or a reader) transmits an energy supply or command to the AIoT device 210. In response to receiving the energy supply and command, the AIoT device 110 backscatters to the intermediate node 220.

[0069] In an example, the peak power consumption of the AIoT device 210 may be less than 1 μW, and such AIoT device 210 may have energy storage. Moreover, the initial sampling frequency offset (SFO) may be less than 10X ppm. Further, there is neither DL nor UL amplification in the device. The device’s DL and UL transmission is backscattered on a carrier wave provided externally.

[0070] In another example, the peak power consumption of the AIoT device 210 may be less than a few hundred μW, and such AIoT device 210 may have energy storage. There may be DL and UL amplification in the device. Moreover, the initial SFO may be less than to 10X ppm. In addition, the device’s DL and UL transmission may be generated internally by the device, or be backscattered on a carrier wave provided externally. Furthermore, the device’s DL and UL transmission may be generated internally by the device.

[0071] Reference is made to FIG. 2C, which illustrates a schematic diagram 200C of the AIoT device. As illustrated, the AIoT device (also referred to as “A-IoT device” for purpose of discussion) may be powered by harvesting ambient energy from radio waves, light, motion, heat, or any other viable ambient energy source. In some predefined standard, the issues on the system architecture and procedure to support 5G AIoT services are described. For example, the AIoT device may be battery-less or with limited energy storage capability.

[0072] The AIoT devices may carry out many of the same functions as IoT devices and target many of the same use cases but require additional design choices to meet solution demands. By relying on energy harvested from ambient sources, the Ambient IoT makes it possible to develop lower-cost, smaller, and maintenance-free devices, allowing the IoT to become more scalable in existing use cases and in use cases still to be developed.

[0073] Harvesting energy from ambient sources may generate only minimal amounts of power. The inherent requirement for Ambient IoT devices may be less complex and more power efficient.

[0074] FIG. 2D illustrates an example architecture 200D of communication environment of the AIoT device. As illustrated in FIG. 2D, a device or entity implementing an AIoT function (also referred to as “AIoTF” for purpose of discussion) may communicate with other devices via the bus. Specifically, there may be an interface Naiotf between the AIoTF and the bus. Additionally, an AIoT RAN device (also referred to as “AIoT RAN” for purpose of discussion) may communicate with the AIoTF via a interface Nx. The AIoT RAN may communicate with the AIoT device. The AIoTF may communicate with the AIoT device via an interface Ny.

[0075] FIG. 2E illustrates an example architecture 200E of communication environment of the AIoT device. As illustrated in FIG. 2E, AIoT RAN may communicate with the AIoTF via an interface Nx. The AIoT RAN may communicate with the AIoT device. The AIoTF may communicate with the AIoT device via an interface Ny.

[0076] FIG. 2F illustrates an example protocol stack 200F between the AIoT function and the AIoT device. The protocol stack 200F may be related to the interfaces in FIGS. 2D and 2E.

[0077] FIG. 2G illustrates an example architecture 200G of communication environment of the AIoT device. As illustrated in FIG. 2G, the AIoTF and a device or an entity implementing an AMF (also referred to as “AMF” for purpose of discussion) may communicate with other devices via the bus. Specifically, there may be an interface Naiotf between the AIoTF and the bus and an interface Namf between the AMF and the bus. Additionally, the AIoT RAN may communicate with the AMF via an interface N2. The AIoT RAN may communicate with the AIoT device. The AIoTF may communicate with the AIoT device via an interface Ny.

[0078] FIG. 2H illustrates an example architecture 200G of communication environment of the AIoT device. As illustrated in FIG. 2H, the AIoTF and the AMF may communicate with each other via an interface Nz. Additionally, the AIoT RAN may communicate with the AMF via an interface N2. The AIoT RAN may communicate with the AIoT device. The AIoTF may communicate with the AIoT device via an interface Ny.

[0079] FIG. 2I illustrates an example protocol stack 200I between the AIoT function and the AIoT device. The protocol stack 200F may be related to the interfaces in FIGS. 2G and 2H.

[0080] The mechanisms for exposure of the AIoT services toward the AF may need to be studied. For example, there may be a need to study the mechanism for the AF to request an AIoT service for an AIoT device and / or for a group of AIoT devices.

[0081] To solve the above and other related / potential issues, embodiments of the present disclosure propose a solution. In the solution, a request for an AIoT service including a set of AIoT parameters is transmitted. Based on the set of AIoT parameters, a communication device is determined via a further communication device. Additionally, a response to the request for the AIoT service including a result of the AIoT service performed by another communication is received. The another communication device is determined based on the set of AIoT parameters.

[0082] Example embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0083] Reference is made to FIG. 3, which illustrates a signaling flow 300 of management of AIoT service in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signaling flow 300 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1A, for example, by using the first communication device 110, the second communication device 120, the third communication device 130, and the fourth communication device 140.

[0084] In some embodiments, the first communication device 110 may be implemented as or included in a device or an entity implementing an AF (also referred to as AF for purpose of discussion) . The second communication device 120 may be implemented as or included in a device or an entity implementing an NEF (also referred to as NEF for purpose of discussion) . The third communication device 130 may be implemented as or included in a device or an entity implementing an NRF (also referred to as NRF for purpose of discussion) . The fourth communication device 140 may be implemented as or included in a device or an entity implementing an AIoT function (also referred to as “AIoT function” or “AIoTF” for purpose of discussion) .

[0085] In the signaling flow 300, the first communication device 110 transmits (3050) , to the second communication device 120, a request (referred to as a first request for purpose of discussion) for an AIoT service. The request includes a set of AIoT parameters including, for example, but not limited to, the area, the time, and the quality of service (QoS) of the AIoT service.

[0086] Before the transmission (3050) of the first request, the first communication device 110 may determine the second communication device 120 first. Specifically, the first communication device 110 may transmit (3010) , to the third communication device 130, a request (referred to as a second request for purpose of discussion) to determine the second communication device 120 associated with the AIoT service. The second request may at least include a set of AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the third communication device 130 receives (3020) the second request from the first communication device 110. The set of AIoT parameters includes, for example, but not limited to, the area, the serving time, and the quality of service (QoS) of the AIoT service. Additionally, for the first communication device 110, it may be optional to transmit the second request to the third communication device 130.

[0087] In some implementations, the set of AIoT parameters may include an AIoT service area, an AIoT service time, or an AIoT QoS metric. For example, the QoS of the AIoT service may include the response time of the AIoT service or the supporting priority process.

[0088] In some embodiments, the second request may include, for example, but not limited to, one or more AF identifications (IDs) , or a type of the AIoT service. In some implementations, the type of the AIoT service may include inventory or command.

[0089] The third communication device 130 transmits (3030) , to the first communication device 110, a response (referred to as a second response for purpose of discussion) to the second request. The second response includes information associated with the second communication device 120. The second communication device 120 is determined based on the set of AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the first communication device 110 may receive (3040) the second response from the third communication device 130.

[0090] Moreover, the second response may include one or more candidates for the second communication device 120 that satisfy requirements associated with the set of AIoT parameters. Additionally, the second response may include an indication of a discovery failure that no candidate satisfying the set of AIoT parameters is found for the second communication device 120 and / or a cause for the discovery failure. Alternatively or in addition, the second response may include recommendation information indicating identifications of one or more recommended devices for the second communication device 120 and / or capability information of the one or more recommended devices.

[0091] Additionally, the first communication device 110 may determine the second communication device 120 from the second response.

[0092] For instance, in some embodiments, if no candidate satisfying the set of AIoT parameters is found for the second communication device 120, one or more recommended devices that satisfy at least a part of the set of AIoT parameters may be recommended to the first communication device 110. The capability information of the one or more recommended devices may be used by the first communication device 110 to determine whether the one or more recommended devices are used for the AIoT service.

[0093] Additionally, a recommended device may satisfy a part of requirements associated with the set of AIoT parameters. Alternatively or in addition, the capability information of a recommended device may indicate what requirement associated with the set of AIoT parameter is satisfied by the recommended device.

[0094] Furthermore, the second communication device 120 may be registered, updated and / or de-registered at the third communication device 130. Specifically, the information associated with the second communication device 120 may be stored or updated at the third communication device 130. Additionally, the information associated with the second communication device 120 may be removed from the third communication device 130.

[0095] In some embodiments, after receiving the second response, the first communication device 110 transmits (3050) , to the second communication device 120, the first request for the AIoT service. The request includes a set of AIoT parameters including, for example, but not limited to, the area, the time, and the quality of service (QoS) of the AIoT service. Additionally, the second communication device 120 is determined via the third communication device 130 based on the set of AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the second communication device 120 may receive (3060) the first request from the first communication device 110.

[0096] Specifically, the first request may further include, for example, but not limited to, a reader identification (ID) , an identification of the fourth communication device 140, an identification of the first communication device 110, or a type of the AIoT service. In some embodiments, the reader ID may include a reader group ID indicating a group of readers.

[0097] Additionally, the second communication device 120 may transmit (3070) , to the third communication device 130, a request (referred to as a fourth request) to determine the fourth communication device 140 for performing the AIoT service. The fourth request may at least include the set of AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the third communication device 130 receives (3080) the fourth request from the second communication device 120.

[0098] Specifically, the fourth request may further include one or more AF IDs, or a type of the AIoT service. For example, the type of the AIoT service may include inventory or command.

[0099] The third communication device 120 transmits (3090) , to the second communication device 120, a response (referred to as a fourth response) to the fourth request. The fourth response may include information associated with the fourth communication device 140. For example, the information may include the identification of the fourth communication device 140. Correspondingly, the second communication device 120 may receive (3100) the fourth response from the third communication device 130.

[0100] In some implementations, the fourth response may include one or more candidates for the fourth communication device 140 that satisfy requirements associated with the set of AIoT parameters. Additionally, the fourth response may include an indication of a discovery failure that no candidate satisfying the set of AIoT parameters is found for the fourth communication device 140 and / or a cause for the discovery failure. Alternatively or in addition, the fourth response may include recommendation information indicating identifications of one or more recommended devices for the fourth communication device 140 and / or capability information of the one or more recommended devices.

[0101] In some embodiments, the second communication device 120 may determine the fourth communication device 140 from the fourth response.

[0102] For example, if no candidate satisfying the set of AIoT parameters is found for the fourth communication device 140, one or more recommended devices that satisfy at least a part of the set of AIoT parameters may be recommended to the second communication device 120. The capability information of the one or more recommended devices may be used by the first communication device 120 to determine whether the one or more recommended devices are used for the AIoT service.

[0103] In some embodiments, a recommended device may satisfy a part of requirements associated with the set of AIoT parameters. Alternatively or in addition, the capability information of a recommended device may indicate what requirement associated with the set of AIoT parameter is satisfied by the recommended device.

[0104] Additionally, the fourth communication device 140 may be registered, updated and / or de-registered at the third communication device 130. Specifically, the information associated with the fourth communication device 140 may be stored or updated at the third communication device 130. Additionally, the information associated with the fourth communication device 140 may be removed from the third communication device 130.

[0105] In some implementations, after receiving the fourth response, the second communication device 120 may transmit (3110) , to the fourth communication device 140, a request (referred to as a third request) for performing the AIoT service associated with the first communication device 110. The third request may include the set of AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the fourth communication device 140 receives (3120) the third request from the second communication device 120.

[0106] Specifically, the third request may further include, for example, but not limited to, a reader ID, an identification of the fourth communication device 140, an identification of the first communication device 110, or a type of the AIoT service. In some embodiments, the reader ID may include a reader group ID indicating a group of readers.

[0107] Subsequently, the fourth communication device 140 transmits (3130) , to the second communication device 120, a response (referred to as a third response) to the third request. The third response includes a result of the AIoT service performed by the fourth communication device 140 based on the set of AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the second communication device 120 may receive (3140) the third response from the fourth communication device 140.

[0108] In some embodiments, after receiving the third response, the second communication device 120 may transmit (3150) , to the first communication device 110, a response (referred to as a first response) to the first request. The first response may include the result of the AIoT service performed by the fourth communication device 140. The fourth communication device 140 may be determined based on the set of the AIoT parameters. Correspondingly, the first communication device 110 receives (3160) the first response from the second communication device 120.

[0109] In this way, the first communication device 110 may receive the result of the AIoT service performed by the fourth communication device 140. Additionally, the second communication device 120 may be determined via the third communication device 130 based on the set of AIoT parameters. The fourth communication device 140 may be determined via the third communication device 130 based on the set of AIoT parameters. Thus, information of the AIoT service may be exposed towards the first communication device 110. The efficiency of the AIoT service is improved.

[0110] In some embodiments, the information associated with a device or an entity implementing an AIoT function (also referred to as “AIoT function” or “AIoTF” for purpose of discussion) may be stored in a device or an entity implementing an NRF (also referred to as NRF for purpose of discussion) . In this case, the AIoTF may be registered, updated and / or de-registered at the NRF.

[0111] In addition to the above, example embodiments propose solutions related to exposing information of the AIoTF to the NRF, for example, registering, updating, and / or de-registering the AIoTF to the NRF. Details of the example embodiments of the present disclosure in this regard will be described below with reference to FIG. 4.

[0112] Reference is made to FIG. 4, which illustrates an example signaling flow 400 of management of AIoT service in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the embodiment of FIG. 4 involves a device or an entity implementing an AIoT function 420 (also referred to as “AIoT function” 420 or “AIoTF” 420 for purpose of discussion) , and a device or an entity implementing an NRF 410 (also referred to as NRF 410 for purpose of discussion) . The AIoTF 420 may be an implementation of the fourth communication device 140 in FIG. 1A, and the NRF 410 may be an implementation of the third communication device 130 in FIG. 1A. Additionally, the AIoTF 420 may be an implementation of the AIoTF 104 in FIG. 1B or the AIoTF 114 in FIG. 1C. The NRF 410 may be an implementation of the NRF 103 in FIG. 1B or the NRF 113 in FIG. 1C.

[0113] In the signaling flow 400, at 4002, the AIoTF 420 may transmit a request for an operation to the NRF 410. The request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_ServiceOperation request. Correspondingly, at 4004, the NRF 410 may transmit, to the AIoTF 420, a response to the request. For example, the response may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_ServiceOperation response.

[0114] In some implementations, the request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_NFRegister request. In this case, the service operation may be NFRegister, for example, registering the consumer network function (i.e., the AIoTF 420) in the NRF 410 by providing the network function (NF) profile of the consumer NF to the NRF 410. The NRF 410 may mark the consumer NF available.

[0115] Additionally, an input may be used to register the profile of the NF in the NRF 410. In some embodiments, the input may include, for example, but not limited to, an NF type (e.g., the AIoTF) , an NF instance ID, a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or an internet protocol (IP) address of the NF, names of supported NF services, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID. In some implementations, if the NF needs to be discovered by other PLMNs or standalone private networks (SNPN) , the input may include the PLMN ID.

[0116] Optionally, the input may include, for example, but not limited to, an AIoT service area, an AIoT service serving time, an AIoT service for the specific AF ID (s) , an AIoT QoS, for example, AIoT service response time or supporting priority process. Additionally, names of supported NF services may include AIoT_Service_Inventory and AIoT_Service_Command.

[0117] In some embodiments, the request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_NFUpdate request. In this case, the service operation may be NFUpdate, for example, providing the updated NF profile of NF consumer (e.g., the AIoTF 420) to the NRF 410.

[0118] Additionally, an input may be used to register the profile of the NF in the NRF 410. In some embodiments, the input may include an NF instance ID. In some embodiments, the NF instance ID may be ID of the AIoTF instance.

[0119] Optionally, if the full NF profile is replaced, the full NF profile (of the AIoTF 420) may be provided. If a part of the NF profile is updated, the NF profile elements (of the AIoTF 420) that needs to be updated may be provided.

[0120] In some implementations, if the NF profile is updated, a result indication may be used as an output. The result indication may indicate that the NF profile is updated.

[0121] In some embodiments, the request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_NFDeregister request. In this case, the service operation may be NFDeregister, for example, informing the unavailability of the NF consumer (the AIoTF 420) to the NRF 410.

[0122] Additionally, an input may be used to de-register the profile of the NF in the NRF 410. In some embodiments, the input may include an NF instance ID and a reason indication, for example, out of the AIoT service serving time. In some embodiments, the NF instance ID may be ID of the AIoTF instance.

[0123] In some implementations, if the NF profile is de-registered, a result indication may be used as an output. The result indication may indicate that the NF profile is de-registered.

[0124] In this way, the information of the AIoTF 420 may be registered, updated or de-registered at the NRF 410. The information may be exposed to the AF via the NRF. Thus, the efficiency of the AIoT service may be improved.

[0125] In some embodiments, the information associated with a device or an entity implementing an NEF (also referred to as “NEF” for purpose of discussion) may be stored in a device or an entity implementing an NRF. In this case, the NEF is registered, updated or de-registered at the NRF.

[0126] In addition to the above, example embodiments propose solutions related to exposing information of the NEF to the NRF, for example, registering, updating, and / or de-registering the NEF to the NRF. Details of the example embodiments of the present disclosure in this regard will be described below with reference to FIG. 5.

[0127] Reference is made to FIG. 5, which illustrates an example signaling flow 500 of management of AIoT service in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As illustrated, the embodiment of FIG. 5 involves a device or an entity implementing an NEF (also referred to as “NEF” 520 for purpose of discussion) , and a device or an entity implementing an NRF 510 (also referred to as NRF 510 for purpose of discussion) . The NEF 520 may be an implementation of the second communication device 120 in FIG. 1A, and the NRF 510 may be an implementation of the third communication device 130 in FIG. 1A. Additionally, the NEF 520 may be an implementation of the NEF 102 in FIG. 1B or the NEF 112 in FIG. 1C. The NRF 510 may be an implementation of the NRF 103 in FIG. 1B or the NRF 113 in FIG. 1C.

[0128] In the signaling flow 500, at 5002, the NEF 520 may transmit a request for an operation to the NRF 510. The request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_ServiceOperation request. Correspondingly, at 5004, the NRF 510 may transmit, to the NEF 520, a response to the request. For example, the response may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_ServiceOperation response.

[0129] In some implementation, the request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_NFRegister request. In this case, the service operation may be NFRegister, for example, registering the consumer network function (i.e., the NEF 520) in the NRF 510 by providing the network function (NF) profile of the consumer NF to the NRF 510. The NRF 510 may mark the consumer NF available.

[0130] Additionally, an input may be used to register the profile of the NF in the NRF 510. In some embodiments, the input may include, for example, but not limited to, an NF type (e.g., the NEF) , an NF instance ID, a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or an internet protocol (IP) address of the NF, names of supported NF services, or a public land mobile network (PLMN) ID. In some implementations, if the NF needs to be discovered by other PLMNs or standalone private networks (SNPN) , the input may include the PLMN ID.

[0131] Optionally, the input may include, for example, but not limited to, an AIoT service area, an AIoT service serving time, an AIoT service for the specific AF ID (s) , an AIoT QoS, for example, AIoT service response time or supporting priority process. Additionally, names of supported NF services may include AIoT_Service_Inventory and AIoT_Service_Command.

[0132] In some embodiments, the request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_NFUpdate request. In this case, the service operation may be NFUpdate, for example, providing the updated NF profile of NF consumer (e.g., the NEF 520) to the NRF 510.

[0133] Additionally, an input may be used to register the profile of the NF in the NRF 510. In some embodiments, the input may include an NF instance ID. In some embodiments, the NF instance ID may be ID of the NEF instance.

[0134] Optionally, if the full NF profile is replaced, the full NF profile (of the NEF 520) may be provided. If a part of the NF profile is updated, the NF profile elements (of the NEF 520) that needs to be updated may be provided.

[0135] In some implementations, if the NF profile is updated, a result indication may be used as an output. The result indication may indicate that the NF profile is updated. The updated NF profile of the NEF 420 may include the updated parameters for the AIoT service, for example, AIoT_Service_Inventory and AIoT_Service_Command. The updated parameters may include an updated AIoT service area, an updated AIoT service serving time, an updated AIoT service for the specific AF ID (s) .

[0136] In some embodiments, the request may include an Nnrf_NFManagement_NFDeregister request. In this case, the service operation may be NFDeregister, for example, informing the unavailability of the NF consumer (the NEF 520) to the NRF 510.

[0137] Additionally, an input may be used to de-register the profile of the NF in the NRF 510. In some embodiments, the input may include an NF instance ID and a reason indication, for example, out of the AIoT service serving time. In some embodiments, the NF instance ID may be ID of the NEF instance.

[0138] In some implementations, if the NF profile is de-registered, a result indication may be used as an output. The result indication may indicate that the NF profile is de-registered.

[0139] In this way, the information of the NEF 520 may be registered, updated or de-registered at the NRF 510. The information of the NEF may be exposed to the AF via the NRF. Thus, the efficiency of the AIoT service may be improved.

[0140] Reference is made to FIG. 6, which illustrates an example signaling flow 600 of management of AIoT service in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The example embodiments discussed with respect to FIG. 6 may be implementations of the example embodiments discussed with reference to FIG. 3.

[0141] As illustrated, the signaling flow 600 involves a device or an entity implementing an AF 610 (also referred to as AF 610 for purpose of discussion) , a device or an entity implementing an NEF 620 (also referred to as NEF 620 for purpose of discussion) , a device or an entity implementing an NRF 630 (also referred to as NRF 630 for purpose of discussion) , and a device or an entity implementing an AIoT function 640 (also referred to as “AIoT function” 640 or “AIoTF” 640 for purpose of discussion) .

[0142] The AF 610 may be an implementation of the first communication device 110. The NEF 620 may be an implementation of the second communication device 120. The NRF 630 may be an implementation of the third communication device 130. The fourth communication device 640 may be an implementation of the fourth communication device 140.

[0143] At 6002, the AF 610 may transmit a request, for example, the Nnrf_NEFdiscovery_Request, to the NRF 630. In this case, the AF 610 may query the NRF 630 to find the corresponding NEF 620 with Nnrf_NEFdiscovery_Request including AF ID (s) , an AIoT Service type (e.g., Inventory, or Command) , and an AIoT service area, an AIoT service time, an AIoT QoS (e.g. AIoT service response time, or supporting priority process) . In some embodiments, there may be multiple AF IDs. In this case, the AF IDs may indicate that the AF 610 may support multiple AIoT applications. For example, the AF 610 may transmit to the NRF 630, the request in the form of “Nnrf_NEFdiscovery_Request (AF ID, AIoT Service type, AIoT service area, AIoT service time) ” .

[0144] At 6004, the NRF 630 may transmit a response to the request from the AF 610. For example, the response may be the Nnrf_NEFdiscovery_Response. Specifically, the NRF 630 may send Nnrf_NEFdiscovery_Response including the ID, the IP address, the FQDN, or the capabilities of the NEF 620 to the AF 610, based on the request and the stored profiles of the NEF 620. In some embodiments, there may be multiple AF IDs. In this case, the AF IDs may indicate the AF 610 and the NEF 620 that may fulfill the request. The AF ID (s) may not be severed by the NEF 620. For instance, the NRF 630 may transmit, to the AF 610, the response in the form of “Nnrf_NEFdiscovery_Response (NEF ID / IP address / FQDN, NEF capabilities) ” .

[0145] If there is no NEF 620 that may fulfill the request, the NRF 630 may send an NEF discovery failure indication to the AF 610 and the cause for the failure. The NRF 630 may suggest one or more NEF 620 which may fulfill some requirements in the request. Additionally, the NRF 630 may indicate the requirements which may be fulfilled and the requirements may not be fulfilled. For instance, the AIoT QoS may not be fulfilled via the NEF 620. The NRF 630 may suggest a new AIoT QoS to the AF 610 in the response.

[0146] At 6006, the AF 610 may transmit a request for the AIoT service to the NEF 620. The NEF 620 may be determined based on the response received from the NRF 630 at 6004. In this case, the AF 610 may send an Inventory / command request to the NEF 620 including, for example, but not limited to, the AF ID, AIoT parameters (e.g., the AIoT service area, the AIoT service time, and the AIoT QoS) , a reader ID, a device ID, or an AIoT service type. The NEF 620 may authorize Inventory / Command from the AF 610 based on the AF ID and the AIoT parameters. In some embodiments, the reader ID may be or may include a reader group ID indicating a group of readers. In some implementations, the AF 610 may transmit, to the NEF 620, the request in the form of “Inventory / Command Request (AF ID, AIoT parameters, Reader ID, Device ID) ” .

[0147] In some embodiments, at 6008, the NEF 620 may transmit Nnrf_AIoTFdiscovery_Request to the NRF 630. Specifically, the NEF 620 may query the NRF 630 to find the corresponding AIoTF 640 with Nnrf_AIoTFdiscovery_Request including the AF ID, the AIoT service type, the AIoT service area, the AIoT service time, and the AIoT QoS. For example, the NEF 620 may transmit, to the NRF 630, the request in the form of “Nnrf_AIoTFdiscovery_Request (AF ID, AIoT Service type, AIoT service area, AIoT service time) ” .

[0148] Subsequently, at 6010, the NRF 630 may transmit to the NEF 620 a response to the request transmitted at 608, e.g., Nnrf_AIoTFdiscovery_Response. In this case, the NRF 630 may send the Nnrf_AIoTFdiscovery_Response including the AF ID, the IP address, the FQDN, or the capabilities of the NEF 620. Similar to 6004, there may be some negotiation between the NRF 630 and the NEF 620 to provide suitable AIoTF 640 or an AIoTF discovery failure indication from the NRF 630 to the NEF 620. For instance, the NRF 630 may transmit, to the NEF 620, the response in the form of “Nnrf_AIoTFdiscovery_Response (AIoTF ID / IP address / FQDN, AIoTF capabilities) ” .

[0149] Specifically, if there is no AIoTF 640 that may fulfill the request, the NRF 630 may send an AIoTF discovery failure indication to the NEF 620 and the cause for the failure. The NRF 630 may suggest one or more AIoTF 640 which may fulfill some requirements in the request. Additionally, the NRF 630 may indicate the requirements which may be fulfilled and the requirements may not be fulfilled. For instance, the AIoT QoS may not be fulfilled via the AIoTF 640. The NRF 630 may suggest a new AIoT QoS to the NEF 620 in the response.

[0150] At 6012, the NEF 620 may transmit a request for the AIoT service to the AIoTF 640. For example, the NEF 620 may send the Inventory / Command request to the AIoTF 640 including the AF ID, the AIoT parameters, the device ID, and the reader ID. In some embodiments, the NEF 620 may transmit, to the AIoTF 640, the request in the form of “Inventory / Command Request (AF ID, AIoT parameters, Device ID, Reader ID) ” .

[0151] Then, at 6014, the AIoTF 640 may perform the AIoT service including AIoT Inventory / Command to the reader for the AIoT device directly or via AMF indirectly.

[0152] At 6016, the AIoTF 640 may send the Inventory / Command response to the NEF 620. The response may include the AF ID, the device ID, the reader ID, and the Inventory / Command result. In some implementations, the AIoTF 640 may transmit, to the NEF 620, the response in the form of “Inventory / Command Response (AF ID, Device ID, Reader ID, Inventory / Command Result) ” .

[0153] Subsequently, at 6018, the NEF 620 may send a response, e.g., the Inventory / Command response to the AF 610. The response sent to the AF 610 may include the device ID, the reader ID, and the Inventory / Command result. For example, the NEF 620 may transmit, to the AF 610, the response in the form of “Inventory / Command Response (Device ID, Reader ID, Inventory / Command Result) ” .

[0154] In this way, the AF 610 may be able to access the information of the AIoT service via the NRF 630. Additionally, the NRF 630 may provide the suitable NEF 620 to the AF 610 and the suitable AIoTF 640 to the NEF 620. Thus, the flexibility and the efficiency of the AIoT service may be improved.
