[0043] The present disclosure relates generally to vacuum cleaner systems. Fig 1 illustrates one example, a vacuum cleaner 1 of the stick type, which is held using a handle 23 of a vacuum cleaner unit 20 at one end, and having a floor nozzle 27, located at the other end.
[0044] In Fig. 1 a vacuum cleaner system comprising a floor stand 1 and a stick vacuum cleaner 2 is illustrated. The floor stand 1 comprises a base 10 to be arranged on a floor and an upright elongated part 11 having an axis of extension (A). The stick vacuum cleaner 2 comprises a vacuum cleaner unit 20 comprising a handle 23, a suction unit 26 powered by a battery pack 24, and a dust separation unit 21. The battery pack comprises one or more battery cells, and may be removably attached to the vacuum cleaner unit 20. The suction unit 26 comprises a motor and fan for creating an air flow. The stick vacuum cleaner 2 also comprises a tube 25 connecting the vacuum cleaner unit 20 to a floor nozzle 27. The stick vacuum cleaner may be used for floor cleaning, but the floor nozzle may be replaced by another type of nozzle for cleaning of furniture or over the head cleaning. The stick vacuum cleaner 2 is removably attached to the floor stand 1. To improve stability and user experience, for example handling and storing, the battery pack 24 and the handle 23 are arranged on separate sides of the axis of extension A.
[0045] In Fig 3 and 5a-c a cross section of the elongated part 11 is illustrated as having an arcshaped cross section, preferably a semi-circular cross-section.
[0046] The battery pack 24 in the stick vacuum cleaner is charged when the stick vacuum cleaner is attached to the floor stand. The charging of the battery pack in the stick vacuum cleaner is made through an electrical connection. The floor stand and a contact in the floor stand is connected to mains power or similar.
[0047] The elongated part 11 comprises a first contact 12 for electrical connection to a second contact 29 on the stick vacuum cleaner for charging the battery pack 24. The second contact is connected to the battery pack 24. Preferably both the floor stand and the battery pack have control units to manage the charging. In Fig. 2 and Fig. 7 it is shown that the first contact 12 is arranged at a top section of the elongated part 11. Furthermore, the first contact 12 is arranged parallel to the axis of extension A for connection to the second contact 29 along an axis parallel to the axis of extension A.
[0048] The first contact 12 is arranged flexible to the elongated part 11. The first contact 12 may be arranged in a rubber housing connected to the elongated part. Alternatively, the contact may be connected to the elongated part by other flexible material or parts, for example springs.
[0049] Fig 1. Shows that the elongated part 11 extends along the whole length of the tube 23. And also, that the elongated part 11 extends from the floor nozzle 27 to the vacuum cleaner unit 20.
[0050] The stick vacuum cleaner 2 is removably attached to the floor stand 1. Fig 1 shows the stick vacuum cleaner attached to the floor stand and Fig. 2 the floor stand when the stick vacuum cleaner is removed. When the stick vacuum cleaner is connected to the floor stand the battery pack 24 and the dust separation unit 21 are arranged on different sides of the axis of extension A. This improves stability and compactness of the system.
[0051] In Fig. 1 the elongated part 11 extends from the base at an angle of around 90 degrees. However, a greater angle could be used such as between 90 to 130 degrees.
[0052] Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 illustrates that the tube 25 is arranged parallel to the elongated part 11. The cross-section BB shown in Fig 5a-c shows the elongated part (11) enclosing parts of the tube 25. Fig 5-c illustrates different embodiments of how the tube 25 may be partly enclosed by the elongated part 11. The line L shows that in the shown embodiments a smaller part of the cross section is enclosed. However, a bigger part of the tube cross-section may be enclosed to enable an even more compact system.
[0053] Fig. 2 shows that the elongated part 11 comprises a top section 17. This top section 17 is arranged above the dust separation unit 21 when the stick vacuum cleaner 2 is arranged in the floor stand 1 (see Fig. 1). This may improve the stability of the system. The vacuum cleaner unit 20 has a dust separation unit 21. The dust separation unit 21 comprises a cyclone separator 28 having an axis of rotation AR. The axis of extension A of the elongated part 11 is substantially parallel to the axis of rotation AR of the cyclone separator. This may improve the stability of the system.
[0054] Fig. 6 illustrates the tube 25 of Fig.1 and Fig. 4 comprising a first tube section 251 and a second tube section 252 telescopically attached to each other. The tube 25 also comprises a locking mechanism 253 for locking the first and second tube sections in different positions and unlocking to change positions.
[0055] As illustrated in Fig.1 and Fig. 2 the elongated part comprises a protrusion 13 which unlock the locking mechanism when the stick vacuum cleaner is attached to the floor stand. When the stick vacuum cleaner is connected to the floor stand the first contact and second contact are connected, and the tube is partly enclosed by the elongated part 11. When the tube is partly enclosed the protrusion 13 push on the locking mechanism 253 and thereby unlocking the first and second tube section. The weight of the vacuum unit 20 pushes the first tube section into the second tube section. Thereby the tube sections slide into each other and the telescopic tube takes its shortest length.
[0056] In Fig. 2 it is shown that the elongated part 11 comprises a recess 16 along most of its length.
[0057] In Fig. 4 and 5a-5c, the tube is partly arranged in the recess 6 when attached to the floor stand. The tube 25 may be arranged along most of the recess 16.
[0058] In an embodiment, when the stick vacuum cleaner 2 is attached to the floor stand 1 the battery pack 24 and the substantial part of the handle 23 are arranged on separate sides of an extension of the cross section of the elongated part 11.In Fig. 1 the base 10 comprises a blocker 14, e.g. a protrusion, blocking the forward movement of the nozzle when the stick vacuum cleaner is attached to the floor stand.
[0059] In embodiments the vacuum cleaner unit 20 may be a handheld vacuum cleaner.
[0060] In embodiments the elongated part 11 may have a substantially continuous cross-section.
[0061] In Fig. 1 the vacuum cleaner unit 20 comprises a control panel 22. The handle 23, dust separation unit 21 and control panel 22 are on the same side of the axis of extension A. This improves stability and compactness of the system.
