Abstract

A direct air capture unit for use with a heating, ventilation and / or air conditioning (HVAC) system, the direct air capture unit comprising: a direct air capture sorbent module configured to receive ambient air and to sorb condensate and carbon dioxide from the ambient air to obtain conditioned air; a channel arranged in fluid connection with the direct air capture sorbent module, the channel comprises a first chamber and a second chamber; wherein the first chamber is configured to receive and direct the conditioned air into the HVAC system, and the second chamber is arranged to receive return air from the HVAC system and the condensate from the direct air capture sorbent module, and wherein the first chamber and the second chamber are arranged such that received condensate in the second chamber is used to cool the conditioned air in the first chamber via indirect evaporative cooling.
