Abstract

The invention relates to an irritant cartridge (10) comprising: - a sleeve (12) which extends along a longitudinal axis, - an inner casing (14), having: - a housing (22) which is accommodated substantially coaxially in the sleeve (12), - a first lower and a second upper submunition (24a, 24b) which are received one above the other in the housing (22) and each contain at least one irritant / smoldering substance mixture, and - a propellant charge (16) situated under the housing (22) for driving the inner casing (14) out of the sleeve (12). In order to allow a time-delayed ignition of the submunitions (24a, 24b) in such an irritant cartridge (10), it is provided that: - the first and second submunitions (24a, 24b) are accommodated substantially coaxially one above the other in the housing (22) and each submunition has a substantially coaxial channel (38); - the inner casing (14) has a first separating capsule (30a) which is situated substantially coaxially between the first and second submunitions (24a, 24b) and has a separating charge (34); and - at the same level as the first separating capsule (30a) the housing (22) has a first rupture point (36a) around the longitudinal axis.
