Abstract

A harness for extrication of a warrior wearing a combat vest. A first aspect of the harness is a pulling harness attached to the combat vest. [0001] HARNESS FOR EXTRICATION OF WARRIORS

[0002] FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention relates to the field of harnesses engaged on a vest of a combat warrior, and more particularly to the field of harnesses engaged on a vest of a combat warrior and enable safe pulling and lifting of the warrior from a dangerous zone without endangering the helping warriors.

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] Armored disputes and wars are widespread around the world. In today's warfare, more and more firearms are in use. In many cases, warriors get injured by a gun, a rifle, a machine gun, a grenade, a bomb, a racquet, or an explosion.

[0006] In some injuries, the wounded warrior may extricate himself to a safer shelter, when the injury is not fatal and the warrior has the ability to run, to walk, or to crawl by himself. However, in some cases, when the state of the injury is more fatal, or, if the warrior is dead, selfextrication is not possible.

[0007] In these cases, nearby warriors come to help the injured warrior. The helping warriors may count one, two or more warriors. Typically, they pull the injured warrior up to behind a solid shelter so that they won't be subjected to snipers' shooting or the like. Thus, behind the shelter, it would be easier and safer to take care of the wounded warrior.

[0008] In practice, and as evidenced a lot during recent armored disputes, it takes a relatively long time to pull an injured warrior up to behind a shelter. In this time, the helping warriors are exposed to shooting by snipers, and, actually, many helping warriors were injured and killed during these situations.

[0009] Furthermore, there are situations in which it is necessary to lift the injured or killed warrior by a helicopter or even by a VTOL airplane. In these cases, if the injured warrior is not able to independently harness himself into a harness lowered from the hovering aircraft from above, help should be given by other warriors that have to harness the injured warrior with an adequate harness that may be used for lifting the injured warrior.

[0010] Unfortunately, during the relatively long time required for proper harnessing the injured warrior and connecting the harness to the cable lowered from the hovering aircraft, the other warriors, as well as the helping aircraft, are exposed to hostile fire.

[0011] Therefore, it would be beneficial to reduce to a minimum the time that helping warriors are exposed to hostile fire when they help an injured warrior, either by pulling the injured warrior behind a shelter or connecting the injured warrior to a lifting harness that can be connected to a cable lowered from a hovering aircraft.It is the object of the present invention to provide a harness for extrication of warriors that significantly reduces or overcomes the aforementioned disadvantages.

[0012] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a pulling harness that is carried on the combat vest of a warrior and enables pulling the warrior if he is injured when the helping warrior is behind a shelter.

[0013] It is still a further object of the present invention to provide a lifting harness that is carried on the combat vest of a warrior and enables lifting the warrior if he is injured, either manually by other warriors near a wall or mechanically by a hovering aircraft.

[0014] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0015] The present invention includes a system for pulling and lifting a warrior wearing a combat vest.

[0016] According to the present invention there is provided a pulling harness for enabling pulling a warrior wearing a combat vest, wherein the pulling harness is configured to be attached to shoulder straps of the combat vest,

[0017] the pulling harness comprises an elongated pulling strap that is stored in a folded position, and wherein

[0018] by pulling the pulling strap, the pulling strap shifts from a folded position into an unfolded and extended position in an unobstructed manner, and enables pulling of the warrior by the pulling strap while at a distance from the warrior.

[0019] Typically, the pulling strap is secured in a folded position by a cover, and wherein the cover enables unobstructed pulling of the pulling strap.

[0020] Practically, a pulling end of the pulling strap comprises a closed-loop pulling string for enabling pulling of the pulling strap from a fully folded position into an unfold position.

[0021] If desired, the pulling harness is attached to the combat vest by means of an attachment strap that is threaded over the shoulder straps of the combat vest.

[0022] In some embodiments, the attachment strap and a free end of the attachment strap are threaded through a locking buckle and safely locked against unintentional release.

[0026] in a folded position of the system, the lifting harness is partially folded and partially connected to the combined pulling harness.

[0027] Advantageously, in a folded position of the system, the system is carried on a back of the combat vest.

[0073] DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0074] Attention is first drawn to Figs. 1-4 that show a pulling harness 10 according to the present invention. The pulling harness 10 is attached to an upper portion 12 of shoulder straps 14 of a combat vest 16. In use, the combat vest 16 is worn by a warrior 18, as shown in Fig. 6. The pulling harness 10 is formed from a flexible, strong, durable, wear-resistant material like nylon fibers.

[0075] As shown in Fig. 1, the pulling harness 10 is attached to the combat vest 16 by means of an attachment strap 20 that is threaded over the shoulder straps 14 of the combat vest 16. A free end 22 of the attachment strap 20 serves for adjustment of the attachment strap 20 length around the shoulder straps 14.

[0076] The attachment strap 14 together with the free end 22 of the attachment strap 14 are threaded through a locking buckle 24 and safely locked against unintentional release.

The snaps 28, when locked together, prevent rotation of the attachment strap 20 with respect to the shoulder straps 14 of the combat vest 16, and assure the position of the ring 26 to be at a side of a shoulder strap 14.

[0080] Fig. 2 shows the pulling harness 10 in a fully folded position attached to the combat vest 16. The pulling strap 32 is secured in a folded position by a cover 34. The cover 34 is formed ina manner that enables free pulling of the pulling strap 32 without any disturbance. The cover 34 may be formed from discrete flexible bands 36 or may be formed as a whole piece.

The friend warrior may then pull the injured warrior 18, by the pulling strap 32, up to behind a shelter, without being exposed to hostile fire during the entire time of pulling the injured warrior 18.

[0085] In a case where the injury of the injured warrior 18 is more fatal and he is unable to throw or even pull out the pulling strap 32 out of the cover 34, then, in a matter of seconds, the friend warrior comes running from behind the shelter, quickly grabs the pulling string 40 and immediately runs back to behind the shelter. While running back to behind the shelter, the pulling strap 32 keeps unfolding until it is in a fully unfolded position. In this position, the friend warrior may then pull the injured warrior 18, by the pulling strap 32, up to behind the shelter, without being exposed to hostile fire during the entire time of pulling the injured warrior 18.

[0086] Figs. 5-14 show another aspect of the present invention where it is required to lift an injured warrior 18. Typically, the lifting of an injured warrior 18 is done by a helicopter or other hovering VTOL aircraft. However, there might be cases where it is necessary to lift an injured warrior 18 by manpower only, for example, if the injured warrior 18 is exposed to hostile fire at one level and it is required to lift the injured warrior 18 to an upper and sheltered level.

Claims

CLAIMS:

1. A pulling harness for enabling pulling a warrior wearing a combat vest, wherein the pulling harness is configured to be attached to shoulder straps of the combat vest,the pulling harness comprises an elongated pulling strap that is stored in a folded position, and whereinby pulling the pulling strap, the pulling strap shifts from a folded position into an unfolded and extended position in an unobstructed manner, and enables pulling the warrior by the pulling strap while at a distance from the warrior.

2. The pulling harness according to claim 1, whereinthe pulling strap is secured in a folded position by a cover, and whereinthe cover enables unobstructed pulling of the pulling strap.

3. The pulling harness according to claim 1, whereina pulling end of the pulling strap comprises a closed-loop pulling string for enabling pulling of the pulling strap from a fully folded position into an unfold position.

4. The pulling harness according to claim 1, whereinthe pulling harness is attached to the combat vest by means of an attachment strap that is threaded over the shoulder straps of the combat vest.

5. The pulling harness according to claim 4, whereinthe attachment strap and a free end of the attachment strap are threaded through a locking buckle and safely locked against unintentional release.

6. The pulling harness according to claim 4, whereinthe pulling harness comprises a ring that is connected to the attachment strap.

7. The pulling harness according to claim 6, whereinthe attachment strap is provided with snaps that prevent rotation of the attachment strap with respect to the shoulder straps of the combat vest and assure position of the ring at a side of a shoulder strap.

8. A system for enabling remote lifting of a warrior wearing a combat vest, wherein in a folded position the system is configured to be attached to the combat vest, the system comprises:a combined pulling harness that is configured to be attached to shoulder straps of the combat vest, anda lifting harness, and whereinin a folded position of the system, the lifting harness is partially folded and partially connected to the combined pulling harness.

9. The system according to claim 8, whereinin a folded position of the system, the system is carried on a back of the combat vest.

10. The system according to claim 8, whereinthe combined pulling harness comprises two spaced apart harness attachment buckles, the lifting harness comprises two spaced apart connection straps, and whereinin a folded position of the system, each of the connection straps of the lifting harness is connected to a corresponding harness attachment buckle of the combined pulling harness.

11. The system according to claim 10, whereinin a folded position of the system, a free end of each of the connection straps is securely stored within service loops at the back of the combat vest.

12. The system according to claim 8, whereinthe lifting harness comprises two spaced apart front securing straps,each free end of the front securing straps is threaded through a length adjustment buckle, each of the front securing straps ends with a spring snap carabiner that is firmly secured and connected to the associated length adjustment buckle, and whereinin a folded position of the lifting harness, the front securing straps are folded within a storage bag.

13. The system according to claim 12, whereinthe two front securing straps of the lifting harness are mutually connected by a width connection strap.

14. The system according to claim 12, whereinthe storage bag is provided with a quick-opening bag cover.

15. The system according to claim 12, whereinthe combined pulling harness comprises an attachment loop at each side of the combined pulling harness, and whereinin order to harness the lifting harness around a body of the warrior, the storage bag and the front securing straps are passed between legs of the warrior and each of the spring snap carabiners is engaged with the corresponding attachment loop of the combined pulling harness.

16. The system according to claim 15, whereinthe shoulder straps of the combat vest pass through each of the respective attachment loops for securing the combined pulling harness to the combat vest.

17. The system according to claim 16, whereinthe combined pulling harness comprises a pulling strap,a loop strap is formed at a pulling end of the pulling strap, and whereinupon harnessing the warrior with the lifting harness, the warrior may be distantly lifted by the loop strap, whereby pulling the loop strap the pulling strap shifts from a folded position into an unfolded and extended position in an unobstructed manner.

18. The system according to claim 17, whereinthe warrior may be lifted from the loop strap in a position that the pulling strap is fully unfolded, or, in a position that the pulling strap is partially unfolded, or, in a position that the pulling strap is in a fully folded position.

19. The system according to claim 15, wherein the storage bag serves as a pressure distributor and as a lining to the buttocks and the groin of the warrior.

20. A method for extrication of a warrior wearing a combat vest, when the warrior lies in a horizontal position, and, the extrication of the warrior takes place by pulling of the warrior from a distance,the method comprising the steps of:pre-providing the warrior with a pulling harness according to claim 1, the pulling harness comprises a pulling strap that is kept folded by a cover;the pre-provided pulling harness is pre-threaded onto an upper portion of shoulder straps of the combat vest;in a case that the warrior is injured and lies in a horizontal position, the pulling strap is pulled out of the cover, either by the injured warrior or by a friend warrior;the injured warrior throws a pulling end of the pulling strap toward a friend warrior that stands or lies behind a shelter, or, the friend warrior grabs the pulling end of the pulling strap and runs to behind the shelter;the friend warrior pulls the injured warrior by means of the pulling strap up to behind the shelter, whilst the friend warrior is protected from hostile fire during the pulling process.

21. A method for extrication of a warrior wearing a combat vest, when the warrior lies in a horizontal position, and, the extrication of the warrior takes place by remote lifting of the warrior in the air,the method comprising the steps of:pre-providing the warrior with a combined pulling harness according to claim 8, the combined pulling harness comprises a pulling strap that is kept folded by a cover;the pre-provided combined pulling harness is pre-threaded onto an upper portion of shoulder straps of the combat vest;pre-providing the warrior with a lifting harness according to claim 8, the lifting harness is pre-attached to the combined pulling harness by connection straps of the lifting harness, and positioned on a back of the combat vest;in a case that the warrior is injured, lies in a horizontal position and extrication by lifting up in the air is required, pre-folded front securing straps are removed from a storage bag of the front securing straps by opening a quick-opening bag cover and deploying the securing straps that are secured together by a width securing strap;passing the securing straps from behind the injured warrior, between the injured warrior's legs, and connecting spring snap carabiners attached to the front securing straps to attachment loops of the combined pulling harness;tightening the front securing straps, by pulling a free end of each of the front securing straps through a length adjustment buckle, until the front securing straps are securely tightened against the injured warrior's body;connecting a lifting spring snap carabiner or other connection of a lifting line to a loop strap of a pulling end of the pulling strap;lifting the lifting line until the pulling strap is in an unfolded position and lifting the injured warrior in the air.
