Abstract
Description
Protective jig for wooden shaft member and method for protecting wooden shaft member
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a protective jig for a wooden shaft member and a method for protecting a wooden shaft member.
[0002] Patent Document 1 discloses a wooden beam which is one of the wooden shaft members. The wooden beam is provided with holes extending in a direction intersecting the direction in which the wooden beam extends. A drift pin for connecting the wooden beam to a beam receiving plate is inserted through the holes.
[0003] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2024-24423
[0004] When water is applied to the wooden shaft member or the wooden shaft member is stored in a humid environment, the wooden shaft member expands by absorbing moisture. When the wooden shaft member is stored in a dry environment, the wooden shaft member shrinks as the moisture in the wooden shaft member evaporates. When the wooden shaft member expands or shrinks, the position of the hole shifts. When connecting the wooden shaft member to the beam receiving plate with a drift pin when the position of the hole has shifted, there is a risk that the wooden shaft member will crack.
[0005] (1) A protective jig for a wooden shaft member according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a mounting member that is detachable from the wooden shaft member. The wooden shaft member is provided with a plurality of holes extending in a direction intersecting the axial direction. The wooden shaft member has an opening surface through which the holes open. The mounting member has a base portion disposed on the opening surface and an insertion portion that protrudes from the base portion and is inserted into the hole from the opening surface.
[0006] According to this configuration, since the insertion portion is inserted into the hole, even if the wooden shaft member expands or shrinks during storage, the position of the hole is unlikely to change. Therefore, displacement of the hole can be suppressed. (2) In the protective jig for a wooden shaft member of (1) above, the opening surface includes a first opening surface through which a first end of the hole opens and a second opening surface that is on the opposite side of the first opening surface and through which a second end of the hole opens. The mounting member includes a first mounting member in which the base portion is disposed on the first opening surface and the insertion portion is inserted into the hole from the first opening surface, and a second mounting member in which the base portion is disposed on the second opening surface and the insertion portion is inserted into the hole from the second opening surface.
[0007] This configuration allows for a shorter insertion length compared to a case where the protective jig has one mounting member and one insertion portion extends from one of the first and second opening surfaces to the other. This makes it easier to attach and detach the mounting member to the wooden shaft member. In particular, when the wooden shaft member shrinks, the insertion portion may become difficult to remove from the hole when removing the mounting member from the wooden shaft member, so the above configuration, which allows for a shorter insertion length, is effective.
[0008] (3) In the protective jig for the wooden shaft member according to (1) or (2) above, the mounting member has two extensions that extend from the base portion and clamp the wooden shaft member in directions that intersect both the axial direction of the wooden shaft member and the direction in which the hole extends.
[0009] This configuration allows the mounting member to be stably attached to the wooden shaft member. (4) In the protective jig for the wooden shaft member described in (3) above, the mounting member has a reinforcing portion that connects the base portion and the extension portion.
[0010] With this configuration, the mounting member can be reinforced by the reinforcing part. (5) In any one of the wooden shaft member protective fixtures of (1) to (4) above, the mounting member is made of metal.
[0011] This configuration can further suppress misalignment of the holes due to expansion or contraction of the wooden shaft member. (6) A method for protecting a wooden shaft member according to one aspect of the present disclosure, wherein the wooden shaft member is stored with one of the wooden shaft member protection fixtures described in (1) to (5) above attached.
[0012] According to this method, the wooden shaft member is stored with the insertion portion inserted into the hole. Therefore, even if the wooden shaft member expands or contracts during storage, the position of the hole is less likely to change. Thus, misalignment of the hole can be suppressed.
[0013] According to the protective jig and method for protecting wooden shaft members of this disclosure, misalignment of holes can be suppressed.

This is a perspective view showing the first axial member and a protective jig attached to the first axial member. This is an exploded perspective view showing the first axial member and the protective jig.
[0015] Referring to Figures 1 to 4, the protective jig 17 for the wooden shaft member and the method for protecting the wooden shaft member in this embodiment will be described. As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the frame 10 of the building comprises a first shaft member 11, a second shaft member 12, and connecting hardware 13, which are wooden shaft members. The first shaft member 11 and the second shaft member 12 in this embodiment are horizontal members that extend in the horizontal direction. The axial direction of the first shaft member 11 and the axial direction of the second shaft member 12 are perpendicular to each other. The first shaft member 11 and the second shaft member 12 in this embodiment are made of wood.
[0016] The first shaft member 11 is provided with a plurality of holes 21. In this embodiment, the first shaft member 11 is provided with four holes 21. The holes 21 extend in a direction intersecting the axial direction of the first shaft member 11. In this embodiment, the direction in which the holes 21 extend is perpendicular to the axial direction of the first shaft member 11. The holes 21 penetrate the first shaft member 11. The four holes 21 are provided at the axial end of the first shaft member 11. The four holes 21 are spaced apart in a direction intersecting both the axial direction of the first shaft member 11 and the direction in which the holes 21 extend.
[0017] The cross-sectional shape of the first shaft member 11 in this embodiment is rectangular. The first shaft member 11 has an opening surface 22 through which the hole 21 opens. The opening surface 22 in this embodiment includes a first opening surface 22a through which the first end of the hole 21 opens, and a second opening surface 22b through which the second end of the hole 21 opens. The second opening surface 22b is the surface opposite to the first opening surface 22a. The first shaft member 11 has two connecting surfaces 23 that connect the first opening surface 22a and the second opening surface 22b. The two connecting surfaces 23 are paired in a direction that intersects both the axial direction of the first shaft member 11 and the direction in which the hole 21 extends.
[0018] The first shaft member 11 is manufactured by cutting wood. The axial direction of the first shaft member 11 is the same as the grain direction of the wood. The axial end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 is formed by the cut surface obtained by cutting the wood in a direction intersecting the grain direction. Therefore, the end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 includes the end grain surface. The end grain surface is the surface where the annual rings are visible.
[0019] In this embodiment, the end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 is provided with two slits 25. The two slits 25 are spaced apart in the direction in which the hole 21 extends. The slits 25 extend from one connecting surface 23 to the other connecting surface 23. The hole 21 passes through the two slits 25. On the end face 24 of the first shaft member 11, the portion located between the two slits 25 is recessed relative to the portions located on both sides of the two slits 25.
[0020] The connecting hardware 13 comprises a first plate 31 and two second plates 32 extending from the first plate 31. Each second plate 32 is provided with a plate hole 32a. The first plate 31 is positioned along the side surface 12a of the second shaft member 12. A bolt 14 passes through the second shaft member 12 and the first plate 31. A nut 15 is secured to the bolt 14. This connects the second shaft member 12 and the connecting hardware 13.
[0021] As shown in Figure 2, the two second plates 32 are inserted into the two slits 25 of the first shaft member 11. The plate holes 32a of the second plates 32 overlap with the holes 21 of the first shaft member 11. The drift pin 16 is inserted through the hole 21 of the first shaft member 11 and the plate holes 32a of the two second plates 32. This connects the first shaft member 11 and the connecting hardware 13. Therefore, the first shaft member 11 is connected to the second shaft member 12 via the connecting hardware 13.
[0022] <Protective jig for wooden shaft member> As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the protective jig 17 is equipped with a mounting member 40 that can be attached to and detached from the first shaft member 11. The mounting member 40 in this embodiment is made of metal. The mounting member 40 in this embodiment includes a first mounting member 40a and a second mounting member 40b. The configuration of the first mounting member 40a and the second mounting member 40b is the same.
[0023] The mounting member 40 has a base portion 41 and an insertion portion 42 protruding from the base portion 41. The base portion 41 is a rectangular plate. The number of insertion portions 42 in this embodiment is the same as the number of holes 21. That is, there are four insertion portions 42. The four insertion portions 42 are spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the base portion 41. The distance between two adjacent insertion portions 42 is the same as the distance between two adjacent holes 21. The length of the insertion portions 42 in this embodiment is less than the distance from the first opening surface 22a or the second opening surface 22b of the first shaft member 11 to the slit 25.
[0024] The mounting member 40 of this embodiment further includes two extensions 43 and two reinforcing parts 44. One extension 43 extends from the first longitudinal end of the base portion 41 in the thickness direction of the base portion 41, and the other extension 43 extends from the second longitudinal end of the base portion 41 in the thickness direction of the base portion 41. One reinforcing part 44 connects the end of the base portion 41 in the short direction of the base portion 41 to the end of the one extension 43, and the other reinforcing part 44 connects the end of the base portion 41 in the short direction of the base portion 41 to the end of the other extension 43.
[0025] As shown in Figure 3, when the mounting member 40 is attached to the first shaft member 11, the base portion 41 of the first mounting member 40a is positioned on the first opening surface 22a of the first shaft member 11. The insertion portion 42 of the first mounting member 40a is inserted through the hole 21 from the first opening surface 22a. The base portion 41 of the second mounting member 40b is positioned on the second opening surface 22b of the first shaft member 11. The insertion portion 42 of the second mounting member 40b is inserted through the hole 21 from the second opening surface 22b.
[0026] Of the two extensions 43 of each mounting member 40, one extension 43 contacts one connection surface 23 of the first shaft member 11, and the other extension 43 contacts the other connection surface 23 of the first shaft member 11. The two extensions 43 sandwich the first shaft member 11 in a direction that intersects both the axial direction of the first shaft member 11 and the direction in which the hole 21 extends. The two reinforcing portions 44 of each mounting member 40 face the end face 24 of the first shaft member 11.
[0027] <Method for protecting the wooden shaft member> After the first shaft member 11 is manufactured, a protective jig 17 is attached to the axial end of the first shaft member 11. In this embodiment, the protective jig 17 is attached so as to sandwich the first shaft member 11 from both sides in the direction in which the hole 21 extends. The insertion portion 42 of the first mounting member 40a is inserted into the hole 21 from the first opening surface 22a of the first shaft member 11. The insertion portion 42 of the second mounting member 40b is inserted into the hole 21 from the second opening surface 22b of the first shaft member 11.
[0028] The first shaft member 11 is stored with the protective jig 17 attached from the time it is manufactured at the factory until it is installed on site. Specifically, the first shaft member 11 is stored at the factory with the protective jig 17 attached from the time it is manufactured at the factory until it is shipped. The first shaft member 11 is transported from the factory to the site with the protective jig 17 attached. The first shaft member 11 is stored at the site with the protective jig 17 attached from the time it is delivered to the site until it is installed. Thus, in this embodiment, since the first shaft member 11 is kept with the protective jig 17 attached when it is transported from the factory to the site, the state of the first shaft member 11 during transport is considered a form of storage. The protective jig 17 is removed from the first shaft member 11 immediately before it is installed. The removed protective jig 17 can be reused on other first shaft members 11.
[0029] [Operation and Effects of this Embodiment] The operation and effects of this embodiment will now be described. (1) The first shaft member 11 is provided with a plurality of holes 21 extending in a direction intersecting the axial direction. The first shaft member 11 has an opening surface 22 through which the holes 21 open. The protective jig 17 for the first shaft member 11 is equipped with a mounting member 40 that can be attached to and removed from the first shaft member 11. The mounting member 40 has a base portion 41 and an insertion portion 42. The base portion 41 is positioned on the opening surface 22 of the first shaft member 11. The insertion portion 42 protrudes from the base portion 41 and is inserted into the holes 21 from the opening surface 22.
[0030] With this configuration, since the insertion portion 42 is inserted into the hole 21, the position of the hole 21 is less likely to change even if the first shaft member 11 expands or contracts during storage. Therefore, displacement of the hole 21 can be suppressed.
[0031] (2) The opening surface 22 includes a first opening surface 22a through which the first end of the hole 21 is open, and a second opening surface 22b which is the surface opposite to the first opening surface 22a and through which the second end of the hole 21 is open. The mounting member 40 includes a first mounting member 40a and a second mounting member 40b. The base portion 41 of the first mounting member 40a is positioned on the first opening surface 22a. The insertion portion 42 of the first mounting member 40a is inserted through the hole 21 from the first opening surface 22a. The base portion 41 of the second mounting member 40b is positioned on the second opening surface 22b. The insertion portion 42 of the second mounting member 40b is inserted through the hole 21 from the second opening surface 22b.
[0032] With this configuration, the length of the insertion portion 42 can be shortened compared to the case where the protective jig 17 has one mounting member 40 and one insertion portion 42 extends from one of the first opening surface 22a and the second opening surface 22b to the other. Therefore, it is easier to attach and detach the mounting member 40 to the first shaft member 11. In particular, when the first shaft member 11 is contracted, the insertion portion 42 may be difficult to remove from the hole 21 when removing the mounting member 40 from the first shaft member 11, so the configuration of this embodiment, which allows the length of the insertion portion 42 to be shortened, is effective.
[0033] (3) The mounting member 40 has two extensions 43. The two extensions 43 extend from the base portion 41. The two extensions 43 sandwich the first shaft member 11 in a direction that intersects both the axial direction of the first shaft member 11 and the direction in which the hole 21 extends. With this configuration, the mounting member 40 can be stably attached to the first shaft member 11.
[0034] (4) The mounting member 40 has a reinforcing portion 44 that connects the base portion 41 and the extension portion 43. With this configuration, the mounting member 40 can be reinforced by the reinforcing portion 44. (5) The mounting member 40 is made of metal. With this configuration, displacement of the hole 21 due to expansion or contraction of the first shaft member 11 can be further suppressed.
[0035] (6) The first shaft member 11 is stored with the protective jig 17 attached. As a result, the first shaft member 11 is stored with the insertion portion 42 inserted into the hole 21, so even if the first shaft member 11 expands or contracts during storage, the position of the hole 21 is less likely to change. Therefore, displacement of the hole 21 can be suppressed.
[0036] (7) The number of insertion portions 42 of the mounting member 40 is the same as the number of holes 21 provided in the first shaft member 11. As a result, when the mounting member 40 is attached to the first shaft member 11, the insertion portions 42 are inserted into all of the holes 21. Therefore, misalignment of all the holes 21 can be suppressed.
[0037] (8) The axial end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 is a grain surface that easily absorbs or evaporates moisture. For this reason, the axial end of the first shaft member 11 is more prone to expansion or contraction than the axial central part of the first shaft member 11. In this embodiment, the hole 21 is provided at the axial end of the first shaft member 11. For this reason, the amount of displacement of the hole 21 due to the expansion or contraction of the first shaft member 11 tends to be large. Therefore, the protective jig 17 of this embodiment is particularly effective in suppressing the displacement of the hole 21.
[0038] (9) The displacement of the hole 21 in the first shaft member 11 is suppressed. As a result, when the second plate 32 of the connecting hardware 13 is inserted into the slit 25 of the first shaft member 11, the plate hole 32a of the second plate 32 and the hole 21 of the first shaft member 11 are more likely to overlap. Therefore, by inserting the drift pin 16 through the plate hole 32a and hole 21, the first shaft member 11 is less likely to crack when connecting the first shaft member 11 and the connecting hardware 13.
[0039] <Examples of Modifications> The above embodiment is an example of possible forms of the protective jig 17 for the wooden shaft member and the method for protecting the wooden shaft member, and is not intended to limit their form. The protective jig 17 for the wooden shaft member and the method for protecting the wooden shaft member may take forms different from those exemplified in the above embodiment. Examples of such forms include forms in which a part of the configuration of the embodiment is replaced, modified, or omitted, or forms in which a new configuration is added to the embodiment. Examples of modifications to the embodiment are shown below.
[0040] - The wooden shaft member is not limited to a horizontally extending wooden horizontal member. The wooden shaft member may be a vertically extending wooden column. - The protective jig 17 may include one mounting member 40. In this case, the base portion 41 is positioned on the first opening surface 22a or the second opening surface 22b. The insertion portion 42 is inserted into the hole 21 from the opening surface 22 on which the base portion 41 is positioned, of the first opening surface 22a and the second opening surface 22b. The insertion portion 42 may extend from one of the first opening surface 22a and the second opening surface 22b on which the base portion 41 is positioned to the other opening surface 22.
[0041] - The cross-sectional shape of the first shaft member 11 is not limited to a rectangular shape. - The number of holes 21 provided in the first shaft member 11 may be changed as appropriate, as long as there are two or more.
[0042] - The direction in which the hole 21 extends does not have to be perpendicular to the axial direction of the first shaft member 11, as long as it intersects with the axial direction of the first shaft member 11. - The hole 21 does not have to be provided at the axial end of the first shaft member 11. For example, the hole 21 may be provided in the axial central part of the first shaft member 11. In this case, the protective jig 17 is attached to the axial central part of the first shaft member 11.
[0043] - The hole 21 does not necessarily penetrate the first shaft member 11. In this case, since the first shaft member 11 has one opening surface 22, the protective jig 17 may be provided with one mounting member 40.
[0044] - The hole 21 may include a first hole extending in a first direction intersecting the axial direction of the first shaft member 11 and a second hole extending in a second direction intersecting both the axial direction and the first direction of the first shaft member 11. The opening surface 22 includes a first surface where the first end of the first hole opens, a second surface where the second end of the first hole opens, a third surface where the first end of the second hole opens, and a fourth surface where the second end of the second hole opens.
[0045] In this case, the protective jig 17 may be provided with four mounting members 40. The base portion 41 of the first mounting member 40 is disposed on the first surface, and the insertion portion 42 of the first mounting member 40 is inserted into the first hole from the first surface. The base portion 41 of the second mounting member 40 is disposed on the second surface, and the insertion portion 42 of the second mounting member 40 is inserted into the first hole from the second surface. The base portion 41 of the third mounting member 40 is disposed on the third surface, and the insertion portion 42 of the third mounting member 40 is inserted into the second hole from the third surface. The base portion 41 of the fourth mounting member 40 is disposed on the fourth surface, and the insertion portion 42 of the fourth mounting member 40 is inserted into the second hole from the fourth surface.
[0046] - In the above embodiment, the drift pin 16 is inserted into the hole 21, but other connecting members such as bolts may be inserted. - The number of insertion portions 42 may be less than the number of holes 21. That is, in the state where the mounting member 40 is attached to the first shaft member 11, the insertion portions 42 do not necessarily penetrate all the holes 21 of the first shaft member 11. Even in this case, displacement of the holes 21 can be suppressed as compared with the case where the insertion portions 42 do not penetrate all the holes 21.
[0047] - The mounting member 40 does not necessarily have two extending portions 43. - The mounting member 40 does not necessarily have a reinforcing portion 44. - The reinforcing portion 44 may be a single plate material connecting the base portion 41 and the two extending portions 43.
[0048] - The end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 may not have the slit 25 provided thereon. - The number of slits 25 provided on the end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 may be appropriately changed. - The end face 24 of the first shaft member 11 may be a flat surface.
[0049] - In the above embodiment, the second shaft member 12 to which the first shaft member 11 is connected is a horizontal cross member, but it may also be a column extending in the vertical direction. - In the above embodiment, the second shaft member 12 to which the first shaft member 11 is connected is made of wood, but it may also be made of steel.
[0050] - The attachment member 40 does not have to be made of metal. The attachment member 40 may be made of a material that has a rigidity capable of suppressing the displacement of the position of the hole 21 when the wooden shaft member expands or contracts, and is difficult to absorb or evaporate moisture.
[0051] - When water is splashed on the wooden shaft member or the wooden shaft member is stored in a humid environment, the attachment member 40 is preferably made of a material that is not easily rusted. For example, the attachment member 40 may be made of stainless steel.
