[0098] The “percentage of cyclic polyglycerol in the Composition A” may be determined by Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) with the following conditions:

[0099] Column: Rezex ROA-organicAcid H+ (8%) 300*7.8mm

[0100] Eluent: 0.005N H2SO4

[0101] Flow: 0.5mL / min

[0102] Detector: RI.

[0103] The “percentage of glycerol, cyclic polyglycerol, polyglycerol 2, polyglycerol 3, polyglycerol 4 and polyglycerol 5 based on the total amount of the polyglycerol portion of the Composition B” , “percentage of glycerol, cyclic polyglycerol, polyglycerol 2 and polyglycerol 3 based on the total amount of the polyglycerol portion of the Composition B” , “percentage of polyglycerol 2, polyglycerol 3, and polyglycerol 4 based on the total amount of the polyglycerol portion of the Composition B” and “percentage of polyglycerol 3, polyglycerol 4 and polyglycerol 5 based on the total amount of the polyglycerol portion of the Composition B” may be determined by Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) with the following conditions:

[0104] Column: Rezex ROA-organicAcid H+ (8%) 300*7.8mm

[0105] Eluent: 0.005N H2SO4

[0106] Flow: 0.5mL / min

[0107] Detector: RI.

[0108] The emulsifier composition is stable, light yellow and transparent with suitable viscosity at around 45 ℃. Thus, it can be charged into formulations directly at 45℃-55℃ with agitation.

[0109] With this unique emulsifier composition of the invention, formulators may use this one solution to realize wide range of oil compatibility (synthetic esters, synthetic ethers, linear or branched hydrocarbons of mineral origin, or plant origin oils, or a mixture thereof, including low polar oils to high polar oils) and instant and strong emulsifying effect which is green, mild and formulator friendly.

[0110] Compared with current commercial technology of PEG-contained emulsifier, the emulsifier composition of the invention uses polyglycerol esters as components which can be available from nature source with green and mild process. Compared with commercial polyglycerol ester technology, the emulsifier composition of the invention has the following advantages:

[0111] 1. Good oil compatibility, preferably wide range of oil compatibility to all types of oil or blending of oils, including synthetic esters, synthetic ethers, linear or branched hydrocarbons of mineral origin, or plant origin oils, or a mixture thereof, including low polar oils to high polar oils.

[0112] 2. Good emulsification effect, fast whitening, instant and strong emulsifying effect, and nourish skin.

[0113] 3. It’s convenient for formulators to use because the emulsifier composition of the invention can be applied in wide range of scenarios without further addition of other emulsifiers.

[0114] Other advantages of the present invention would be apparent for a person skilled in the art upon reading the specification.Detailed description of the invention

[0124] Methods

[0125] The emulsifier compositions in this invention were prepared according to the protocol which includes the following steps:

[0126] ○ Prepare Component A and Component B in accordance with ordinary methods.

[0127] ○ Blend the two components together with certain ratio (within pre-mentioned ratio range) with agitation at 70 -80 ℃.

[0128] The makeup removal oil samples in this invention were prepared according to the protocol which includes the following steps:

[0129] a) Add the emulsifier composition into the oil or mixture of oil; and

[0130] b) Keep stirring at 50℃ until the emulsifier dissolves in the oil completely.

[0131] The formulations for application performance evaluation in this invention were prepared according to the protocol as follows:

[0132] ○ Evaluation formulation is a base version of a makeup removal oil which is basically a mixture of varied oil (s) and the inventive emulsifier composition.

[0133] ○ The oils include polar oil, non-polar oil, synthetic oil, nature sourced oil and mineral oil, such as Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride ( CT MB) , Ethylhexyl Palmitate ( OP MB) , Cetyl Ethylhexanoate ( CO MB) , castor oil (non-polar) , sunflower seed oil and mineral oil, which are the most widely used in market make up removal oil formulations.

[0134] The oil compatibility test in this invention was performed according to the protocol as follows:

[0135] ○ Add an emulsifier sample into an oil at 45℃ with agitation for 20 mins at 300 rpm, cool down to room temperature naturally and observe the formulation appearance. If the formulation is clear during the period of cooling down and storage for 24hrs, then the compatibility is good and defined as ‘Pass’ . If the formulation is turbid after formulating or storage, then the compatibility is not good and defined as ‘Cloudy’ .

[0136] The emulsifying effect / whitening test method in this invention is as follows:

[0137] Good emulsifying effect was reflected by fast whitening test. The whitening test was performed according to the protocol as follows:

[0138] 1st step: Drip 500ul test make up removal oil in the palm of one dry hand, use the dry index finger of other hand to massage for 5 circles,

[0139] 2nd step: Wet the finger and further massage the test area for 5 circles, and

[0140] 3rd step: Repeat the 2nd step for 3 times and record the process.

[0141] 1) ‘+++*’ means the fastest or best whitening (emulsifying) effect. Where the removal oil composition is emulsified and whitened after massaging the test area for only 1-2 circles in the second step, the emulsifying effect or whitening effect is rated as ‘+++*’ .

[0142] 2) ‘+++’ means the very fast or very good whitening (emulsifying) effect. Where the removal oil composition is emulsified and whitened after the second step (5 circles) , the emulsifying effect or whitening effect is rated as ‘+++’ .

[0143] 3) ‘++’ means the fast or good whitening (emulsifying) effect. Where the removal oil composition is emulsified and whitened after repeating the second step twice (10 circles) , the emulsifying effect or whitening effect is rated as ‘++’ .

[0144] 4) ‘+’ means the worst whitening effect that is not acceptable. Where the removal oil composition is emulsified and whitened after the third step (15circles) , the emulsifying effect or whitening effect is rated as ‘+’ .

[0145] 5) ‘Weak’ means no whitening effect. Where the removal oil composition is not emulsified and isn’ t whitened, and just remains a transparent liquid after the third step (15circles) , the emulsifying effect or whitening effect is rated as ‘Weak’ .

[0146] 6) ‘ / ’ means the whitening test for this sample is not applicable due to weak oil compatibility.

[0197] The percentage of polyglycerol 2, polyglycerol 3 and polyglycerol 4 was 93.3 wt. %, based on the total amount of the polyglycerol portion of the polyglyceryl-3 di-caprylate above.

[0198] Example 52-Example 57: emulsifier compositions 16-17

[0199] The make-up removal oil samples of Example 52-Example 57 were prepared by blending one of the emulsifier compositions 16 and 17 in different oils according to the formulations as shown in Table 11. The test results are shown in Table 11.

[0200] Table 11

[0201] As shown in Table 11 on the oil compatibility test results and whitening results of E52-E57, the emulsifier composition 16 had excellent performance in the oil of CT only; the emulsifier composition 17 had excellent performance in the oils of CO and OP.

[0204] Table 12

[0205] As shown in Table 12, the emulsifier composition 18 had good performance of oil compatibility and whitening effect in the oils of CT and OP; the emulsifier composition 19 had good performance on oil compatibility in all three oils but had good whitening effect only in CT.

[0206] Comparative examples 64

[0207] The polyglyceryl -10, with a cyclic polyglycerol content of 10.66wt. %, product name of Polyglycerin 750, commercially available from Sakamoto was used to prepare polyglyceryl-10 2.5 oleate using ordinary method.

[0208] The prepared polyglyceryl-10 2.5 oleate showed layering. Thus, it was not suitable for use as an emulsifier.

[0209] Comparative Example 65-Comparative Example 71: emulsifier compositions 20-24

[0210] The emulsifier compositions 20-24 of the invention as shown in Table 13 were prepared.

[0211] Table 13

[0212] Comparative Example 65-Comparative Example 71: emulsifier compositions 20-24

[0213] The make-up removal oil samples of Comparative Example 65-Comparative Example 71 were prepared by blending one of the emulsifier compositions 20 -24 in different oils according to the formulations as shown in Table 14. The test results are shown in Table 14.

[0214] Table 14

[0215] As shown in Table 14, the emulsifier compositions 20-24 of CE65-CE71 showed poor performance on whitening effect, and the emulsifier composition 22 showed poor oil compatibility. This demonstrates that Component A or Component B alone can not achieve both good performance on oil compatibility and whitening effect.

[0216] Comparative Example 72-Comparative Example 75: emulsifier compositions 25-26

[0217] The emulsifier compositions 25-26 of the invention as shown in Table 15 were prepared.

[0218] Table 15

[0219] Comparative Example 72-Comparative Example 75: emulsifier compositions 25-26

[0220] The make-up removal oil samples of Comparative Example 72-Comparative Example 75 were prepared by blending one of the emulsifier compositions 25 -26 in different oils according to the formulations as shown in Table 16. The test results are shown in Table 16.

[0221] [Rectified under Rule 91, 24.06.2026]Table 16

[0222] As shown in Table 16, the emulsifier compositions 25-26 of CE72-CE75 showed poor performance on whitening effect. This demonstrates that when the average degree of polymerization of the polyglycerol of Component A is too low, the emulsifier composition can not achieve both good performance on oil compatibility and whitening effect.
