Description

METHODS FOR APPLICABLE FUNCTIONALITY COMBINATION REPORTINGTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to wireless communication, and more particularly, to methods for reporting functionality combination information.BACKGROUND

[0002] The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifies a radio interface referred to as fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) (5G NR) . An architecture for a 5G NR wireless communication system includes a 5G core (5GC) network, a 5G radio access network (5G-RAN) , a user equipment (5G UE) , etc. The 5G NR architecture seeks to provide increased data rates, decreased latency, and / or increased capacity compared to prior generation cellular communication systems.

[0003] Wireless communication systems, in general, provide various telecommunication services (e.g., telephony, video, data, messaging, etc. ) based on multiple-access technologies, such as orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technologies, that support communication with multiple UEs. Improvements in mobile broadband continue the progression of such wireless communication technologies. For example, a UE can simultaneously perform multiple functionalities. However, the network entity may not have the information to determine which functionalities can be activated simultaneously by the UE. If the network entity activates functionalities that the UE is not capable of performing simultaneously, the activation may result in a UE malfunction. BRIEF SUMMARY

[0004] The following presents a simplified summary of one or more aspects in order to provide a basic understanding of such aspects. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated aspects. This summary neither identifies key or critical elements of all aspects nor delineates the scope of any or all aspects. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of one or more aspects in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

[0005] A general framework for enhancing an air-interface or other interfaces between a user equipment (UE) and a network entity using one or more artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI / ML) model (s) may be implemented for various air-interface use cases. The air-interface cases may include beam management, channel state information (CSI) prediction, CSI compression, joint CSI compression, CSI feedback enhancement, positioning, lower-layer triggered mobility (LTM) mobility, layer-3 (L3) mobility, etc. An AI / ML functionality (which may be referred to as functionality herein) may be defined for applying an AI / ML model in an air-interface use case. Regarding UE-side AI / ML models, for example, the UE has one or more AI / ML models associated with a functionality. The UE may provide information associated with functionalities including supported functionalities to the network entity. The supported functionalities refer to functionalities the UE supports based on the UE capability.

[0006] In some cases, the UE can simultaneously perform multiple functionalities. For example, the UE performs functionality 1 and functionality 2 simultaneously. In some scenarios, the network entity may activate these functionalities for the same or different use cases. However, the network entity may not have the information to determine which functionalities can be activated simultaneously by the UE. If the network entity activates functionalities that the UE is not capable of performing simultaneously, the activation may result in a UE malfunction.

[0007] Aspects of the present disclosure address the above-noted and other deficiencies by implementing techniques for reporting functionality combination information. To inform the network entity which functionalities the UE can perform simultaneously, the UE transmits to the network entity, functionality combination information. The network entity activates functionalities based on the functionality combination information. In some examples, the functionality combination information is based on a specific request from the network entity. In another example, the functionality combination information is based on type information associated with the functionality combination information. In a further example, the network entity determines applicable functionality combination information based on the functionality combination information. In some other examples, the UE reports applicable functionality combination information to the network entity after transmitting the functionality combination information to the network entity. In some other examples, the UE reports updated applicable functionality combination information when the UE detects a change in functionality activation information for a second network entity. In some other examples, the network entity transmits a deactivation message to the UE indicating the UE to deactivate an activated functionality, if the UE detects certain UE conditions including low-power state or overheating or if the UE detects non-applicable status associated with the activated functionality.

[0008] According to some aspects, the UE transmits, to a network entity, functionality combination information indicating at least two functionalities for simultaneous performance by the UE; and communicates, with the network entity, based on the functionality combination information.

[0009] According to some aspects, the network entity receives, from a user equipment, UE, functionality combination information indicating at least two functionalities for simultaneous performance by the UE; and communicates, with the UE, based on the functionality combination information.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0025] FIG. 1A illustrates a diagram 100 of a wireless communications system associated with a plurality of cells 190. The wireless communications system includes user equipments (UEs) 102 and base stations / network entities 104. Some base stations may include an aggregated base station architecture and other base stations may include a disaggregated base station architecture. The aggregated base station architecture utilizes a radio protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within a single radio access network (RAN) node. A disaggregated base station architecture utilizes a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed among two or more units (e.g., radio unit (RU) 106, distributed unit (DU) 108, central unit (CU) 110) . For example, a CU 110 is implemented within a RAN node, and one or more DUs 108 may be co-located with the CU 110, or alternatively, may be geographically or virtually distributed throughout one or multiple other RAN nodes. The DUs 108 may be implemented to communicate with one or more RUs 106. Any of the RU 106, the DU 108 and the CU 110 can be implemented as virtual units, such as a virtual radio unit (VRU) , a virtual distributed unit (VDU) , or a virtual central unit (VCU) . The base station / network entity 104 (e.g., an aggregated base station or disaggregated units of the base station, such as the RU 106 or the DU 108) , may be referred to as a transmission reception point (TRP) .

[0026] Operations of the base station 104 and / or network designs may be based on aggregation characteristics of base station functionality. For example, disaggregated base station architectures are utilized in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open-radio access network (O-RAN) network, or a virtualized radio access network (vRAN) , which may also be referred to a cloud radio access network (C-RAN) . Disaggregation may include distributing functionality across the two or more units at various physical locations, as well as distributing functionality for at least one unit virtually, which can enable flexibility in network designs. The various units of the disaggregated base station architecture, or the disaggregated RAN architecture, can be configured for wired or wireless communication with at least one other unit. For example, the base stations 104d, 104e and / or the RUs 106a, 106b, 106c, 106d may communicate with the UEs 102a, 102b, 102c, 102d, and / or 102s via one or more radio frequency (RF) access links based on a Uu interface. In examples, multiple RUs 106 and / or base stations 104 may simultaneously serve the UEs 102, such as by intra-cell and / or inter-cell access links between the UEs 102 and the RUs 106 / base stations 104.

[0027] The RU 106, the DU 108, and the CU 110 may include (or may be coupled to) one or more interfaces configured to transmit or receive information / signals via a wired or wireless transmission medium. For example, a wired interface can be configured to transmit or receive the information / signals over a wired transmission medium, such as via the fronthaul link 160 between the RU 106d and the baseband unit (BBU) 112 of the base station 104d associated with the cell 190d. The BBU 112 includes a DU 108 and a CU 110, which may also have a wired interface (e.g., midhaul link) configured between the DU 108 and the CU 110 to transmit or receive the information / signals between the DU 108 and the CU 110. In further examples, a wireless interface, which may include a receiver, a transmitter, or a transceiver, such as an RF transceiver, configured to transmit and / or receive the information / signals via the wireless transmission medium, such as for information communicated between the RU 106a of the cell 190a and the base station 104e of the cell 190e via cross-cell communication beams 136-138 of the RU 106a and the base station 104e.

[0028] The RUs 106 may be configured to implement lower layer functionality. For example, the RU 106 is controlled by the DU 108 and may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions, or lower layer PHY functionality, such as execution of fast Fourier transform (FFT) , inverse FFT (iFFT) , digital beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, etc. The functionality of the RU 106 may be based on the functional split, such as a functional split of lower layers.

[0029] The RUs 106 may transmit or receive over-the-air (OTA) communication with one or more UEs 102. For example, the RU 106b of the cell 190b communicates with the UE 102b of the cell 190b via a first set of communication beams 132 of the RU 106b and a second set of communication beams 134b of the UE 102b, which may correspond to inter-cell communication beams or, in some examples, cross-cell communication beams. For instance, the UE 102b of the cell 190b may communicate with the RU 106a of the cell 190a via a third set of communication beams 134a of the UE 102b and a fourth set of communication beams 136 of the RU 106a. DUs 108 can control both real-time and non-real-time features of control plane and user plane communications of the RUs 106.

[0030] Any combination of the RU 106, the DU 108, and the CU 110, or reference thereto individually, may correspond to a base station 104. Thus, the base station 104 may include at least one of the RU 106, the DU 108, or the CU 110. The base stations 104 provide the UEs 102 with access to a core network. The base stations 104 may relay communications between the UEs 102 and the core network (not shown) . The base stations 104 may be associated with macrocells for higher-power cellular base stations and / or small cells for lower-power cellular base stations. For example, the cell 190e may correspond to a macrocell, whereas the cells 190a-190d may correspond to small cells. Small cells include femtocells, picocells, microcells, etc. A network that includes at least one macrocell and at least one small cell may be referred to as a “heterogeneous network. ”

[0031] Transmissions from a UE 102 to a base station 104 / RU 106 are referred to as uplink (UL) transmissions, whereas transmissions from the base station 104 / RU 106 to the UE 102 are referred to as downlink (DL) transmissions. Uplink transmissions may also be referred to as reverse link transmissions and downlink transmissions may also be referred to as forward link transmissions. For example, the RU 106d utilizes antennas of the base station 104d of cell 190d to transmit a downlink / forward link communication to the UE 102d or receive an uplink / reverse link communication from the UE 102d based on the Uu interface associated with the access link between the UE 102d and the base station 104d / RU 106d.

[0032] Communication links between the UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may be based on multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology, including spatial multiplexing, beamforming, and / or transmit diversity. The communication links may be associated with one or more carriers. The UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may utilize a spectrum bandwidth of Y MHz (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 100, 400, 800, 1600, 2000, etc. MHz) per carrier allocated in a carrier aggregation of up to a total of Yx MHz, where x component carriers (CCs) are used for communication in each of the uplink and downlink directions. The carriers may or may not be adjacent to each other along a frequency spectrum. In examples, uplink and downlink carriers may be allocated in an asymmetric manner, with more or fewer carriers allocated to either the uplink or the downlink. A primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers may be included in the component carriers. The primary component carrier may be associated with a primary cell (PCell) and a secondary component carrier may be associated with a secondary cell (SCell) .

[0033] Some UEs 102, such as the UEs 102a and 102s, may perform device-to-device (D2D) communications over sidelink. For example, a sidelink communication / D2D link utilizes a spectrum for a wireless wide area network (WWAN) associated with uplink and downlink communications. Such sidelink / D2D communication may be performed through various wireless communications systems, such as wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) systems, Bluetooth systems, Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems, New Radio (NR) systems, etc.

[0034] The UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may each include a plurality of antennas. The plurality of antennas may correspond to antenna elements, antenna panels, and / or antenna arrays that may facilitate beamforming operations. For example, the RU 106b transmits a downlink beamformed signal based on a first set of communication beams 132 to the UE 102b in one or more transmit directions of the RU 106b. The UE 102b may receive the downlink beamformed signal based on a second set of communication beams 134b from the RU 106b in one or more receive directions of the UE 102b. In a further example, the UE 102b may also transmit an uplink beamformed signal (e.g., sounding reference signal (SRS) ) to the RU 106b based on the second set of communication beams 134b in one or more transmit directions of the UE 102b. The RU 106b may receive the uplink beamformed signal from the UE 102b in one or more receive directions of the RU 106b. The UE 102b may perform beam training to determine the best receive and transmit directions for the beamformed signals. The transmit and receive directions for the UEs 102 and the base stations 104 / RUs 106 may or may not be the same.

[0035] In further examples, beamformed signals may be communicated between a first base station / RU 106a and a second base station 104e. For instance, the base station 104e of the cell 190e may transmit a beamformed signal to the RU 106a based on the communication beams 138 in one or more transmit directions of the base station 104e. The RU 106a may receive the beamformed signal from the base station 104e of the cell 190e based on the RU communication beams 136 in one or more receive directions of the RU 106a. In further examples, the base station 104e transmits a downlink beamformed signal to the UE 102e based on the communication beams 138 in one or more transmit directions of the base station 104e. The UE 102e receives the downlink beamformed signal from the base station 104e based on UE communication beams 130 in one or more receive directions of the UE 102e. The UE 102e may also transmit an uplink beamformed signal to the base station 104e based on the UE communication beams 130 in one or more transmit directions of the UE 102e, such that the base station 104e may receive the uplink beamformed signal from the UE 102e in one or more receive directions of the base station 104e.

[0036] The network entity may respond to radio access network (RAN) entities (e.g., base station (BS) ) , core network (CN) entities (e.g., access and mobility management function (AMF) , location management function (LMF) , session management function (SMF) , operation administration and maintenance (OAM) entity, over-the-top (OTT) servers, or third-party entities. Referring to FIG. 1A, the base station 104 may include and / or be referred to as a network entity. That is, “network entity” may refer to the base station 104 or at least one unit of the base station 104, such as the RU 106, the DU 108, and / or the CU 110. The base station 104 may also include and / or be referred to as a next generation evolved Node B (ng-eNB) , a next generation NB (gNB) , an evolved NB (eNB) , an access point, a base transceiver station, a radio base station, a radio transceiver, a transceiver function, a basic service set (BSS) , an extended service set (ESS) , a TRP, a network node, network equipment, or other related terminology. The base station 104 or an entity at the base station 104 can be implemented as an IAB node, a relay node, a sidelink node, an aggregated (monolithic) base station, or a disaggregated base station including one or more RUs 106, DUs 108, and / or CUs 110. A set of aggregated or disaggregated base stations may be referred to as a next generation-radio access network (NG-RAN) . In some examples, the UE 102a operates in dual connectivity (DC) with the base station 104e and the base station / RU 106a. In such cases, the base station 104e can be a master node and the base station / RU 106a can be a secondary node.

[0037] Still referring to FIG. 1A, any of the UEs 102 may include a functionality combination information reporting component 140 configured to transmit, to a network entity, functionality combination information indicating at least two functionalities for simultaneous performance by the UE; and communicate, with the network entity, based on the functionality combination information.

[0038] The base stations 104 or a network entity of the base stations 104 may include a functionality combination information configuration component 150 configured to receive, from a user equipment, UE, functionality combination information indicating at least two functionalities for simultaneous performance by the UE; and communicate, with the UE, based on the functionality combination information.

[0039] Accordingly, FIG. 1A describes a wireless communication system that may be implemented in connection with aspects of one or more other figures described herein. Further, although the following description may be focused on 5G NR, the concepts described herein may be applicable to other similar areas, such as 5G-Advanced and future versions, LTE, LTE-advanced (LTE-A) , and other wireless technologies, such as 6G.

[0040] FIG. 1B illustrates an example of relationships of supported, applicable, and activated functionality information according to an embodiment.

[0041] As shown, in the example 180, the number of applicable functionalities equals to the number of supported functionalities and the number of activated functionalities.

[0042] In another example 190, a subset of the supported functionalities is applicable, and the number of applicable functionalities is less than the number of supported functionalities. As shown, a subset of the applicable functionalities can be activated, and the number of activated functionalities is less than the number of applicable functionalities.

[0043] The supported functionalities refer to functionalities that UE supports based on UE capability. For example, a UE 102 may indicate the supported functionality information to the network, e.g., by using UE capability information (via radio resource control (RRC)  / LTE positioning protocol (LPP) signaling) . Not all the supported functionalities may be activated on the UE side. In some cases, the UE 102 may directly report applicable functionalities to the network entity 104. The applicable functionalities refer to functionalities that the UE is ready to apply for inference. As such, the supported functionalities of the examples 180 and 190 include applicable functionalities, which include to-be-activated functionalities, as further described below. Generally, the applicable functionalities may be the same as or within the scope of the supported functionalities. The network entity can select the to-be-activated functionalities based on the applicable functionality information. The to-be-activated functionalities may be the same or within the scope of the applicable functionalities.

[0044] In this disclosure, the functionalities which can be activated / applicable / supported simultaneously at the UE 102 can be considered as a (activated / applicable / supported) functionality combination. For example, the UE 102 supports functionalities A, B, and / or C. In some implementations, the UE 102 may support all the following functionality combinations. In other implementations, the UE may only support a portion of the following functionality combinations. Functionality combination 1 indicates that functionality A and functionality B can be activated / applicable / supported simultaneously. Functionality combination 2 indicates that functionality A and C can be activated / applicable / supported simultaneously. Functionality combination 3 indicates that functionality B and functionality C can be activated / applicable / supported simultaneously. Functionality combination 4 indicates that functionality A, functionality B, and functionality C can be activated / applicable / supported simultaneously. If the UE 102 supports functionality combination 4, the UE 102 can support all the functionality combinations 1~3 as well.

[0045] FIG. 2 illustrates an example 200 overview of reporting functionality combination according to an embodiment. In summary, the disclosure relates to methods for the network entity 104 to activate multiple functionalities simultaneously at the UE 102. To decide which functionalities can be activated at the UE 102 simultaneously, the network entity 104 needs the information associated with the functionality combinations supported by the UE 102. As shown in FIG. 2, the reporting functionality combination includes the definition of the content 260 of (supported / applicable) functionality combination information for the same or different use cases. The reporting functionality combination also includes a filtering scheme 270 for reporting the (supported / applicable) functionality combination information. The reporting functionality combination also includes the determination of the applicable functionality combination information at the network entity 280 or at the UE 285 . The reporting functionality combination also includes the deactivation of the non-applicable functionality based on network entity control ; and report applicable functionality information or applicable functionality combination information in a message indicated by the network entity 104 to the UE 102.

[0046] In this disclosure, the functionality combination information can be applied to the supported or applicable functionalities. The functionality combination information can assist the network entity 104 to determine the functionalities that the UE 102 can activate simultaneously.

[0047] In this disclosure, it may be considered that the UE 102 can support an AI function for at least one use case for at least one network entity. It is understood that “use case” is considered as the granularity of functionality in this application. This is only for illustration and doesn’ t show any limitation on other possible implementation (s) . For example, the granularity of “use case” can be replaced with other granularity information, e.g., communication function or functionality, feature, feature group, input, output, input and output, temporal, spatial, frequency information or other.

[0048] FIGs. 3A-3B illustrate example functionality information according to an embodiment.

[0049] Referring to FIG. 3A, the UE 102 supports an AI function for X network entities (e.g., NE 1 320, NE 2 322, …, NE X 324, where X is a positive integer) . The functionality information indicates the use cases and the associated functionalities that the UE 102 supports. For each network entity (NE) , there are at least one AI related use cases, and there is at least one functionality for each use case. For example, the functionality information 300 indicates that the UE 102 supports AI function for the NE1 320, and that the UE 102 supports two use cases (e.g., use case A1 320A and use case A2 320B) . For use case A1 320A, the UE 102 supports functionality A1-1, functionality A1-2, …, functionality A1-n_A1. In another example, the functionality information 300 also indicates that the UE 102 supports an AI function for the NE2 322, and that the UE 102 supports two use cases (e.g., use case B1 322A and use case B2 322B) . For use case A1 322A, the UE supports functionality B1-1, functionality B1-2, …, functionality B1-n_B1. Note, “n_A1” , “n_A2” , “n_B1” , “n_B2” , and / or “n_X” are positive integers and may have the same value or different values.

[0050] Referring to FIG. 3B, the functionality information 350 indicates the UE 102 supports AI functions for two network entities (e.g., NE1 320 and NE2 322) . The UE 102 supports two use cases (e.g., use case A1 320A and use case A2 320B) for NE1 320 and one use case (e.g., use case B1 322A) for NE2 322. For each use case, the UE 102 supports two functionalities. For example, the UE 102 supports functionality A1-1 and functionality A1-2 for the use case 320A, and supports functionality B1-1 and functionality B1-2 for the use case 320B. In one implementation, the NE1 320 and the NE2 322 are a base station and a LMF entity, respectively. In one implementation, the use case A1 and use case A2 are any two of beam management, CSI prediction, CSI compression, joint CSI compression, measurement prediction, radio link failure prediction, and / or CSI feedback enhancement. In one implementation, the use case B1 is positioning.

[0051] In some implementations, the UE 102 can perform at least two of the functionalities simultaneously. For example, referring to FIG. 3B, the UE performs functionality A1-1 and functionality A2-2 simultaneously. In some other implementations, the UE is not capable of simultaneously performing at least two functionalities. For example, referring to FIG. 3B, the UE 102 is not capable of performing functionality A1-1 and A2-1 simultaneously. However, the network entity communicating with the UE 102 may not know which functionalities can be performed by the UE 102 simultaneously. In some situations, the network entity may activate the functionalities the UE 102 is not capable of performing simultaneously, causing the UE 102 to malfunction. Therefore, functionality combination information can indicate which functionalities the UE 102 can perform simultaneously, as will be described below.

[0052] In some implementations, the functionality combination information includes at least one functionality combination based on the supported or applicable functionalities. The functionality combination can be based on functionalities within one use case or across multiple use cases. Each of the at least one functionality combination indicates functionalities that the UE can perform simultaneously. For example, a functionality combination is set to [A1-1, A2-2, B1-1] , which indicates that the UE 102 supports to perform all the three functionalities simultaneously, e.g., in suitable environment. In this example, the functionality combination also may indicate that the UE 102 supports performing any subset of the three functionalities simultaneously. For example, the functionality combination [A1-1, A2-2, B1-1] also indicates that the UE 102 supports performing functionalities A1-1, A2-2, B1-1, [A1-1, A2-2] , [A1-1, B1-1] , and / or [A2-2, B1-1] simultaneously.

[0053] In some implementations, the UE 102 can report the functionality combination information based on all the supported or applicable functionalities as shown in Fig 4.

[0054] In some implementations, the functionality combination information can include area information (e.g., cell information, RAN area information, and / or tracking area information, etc. ) . In some implementations, the cell information includes at least one of:at least one cell identity (e.g., physical cell identity and / or cell global identity) and / or frequency information (e.g., at least one channel number and / or at least one frequency band) . In some implementations, the RAN area information includes at least one RAN notification area identity / identifier (ID) . In some implementations, the tracking area information includes at least one tracking area code or ID. In some implementations, a functionality combination may be associated with a particular area information. For example, the UE 102 indicates that the functionality combination [A1-1, A2-2, B1-1] is associated with area information 1 in the functionality combination information. In such cases, a network entity (e.g., one of the X NEs) may determine whether to activate one, some or, all the functionalities in accordance with the functionality combination, the area information, and a location of the UE. For example, if the location is within an area indicated in the area information, the network entity may determine to activate one, some, or all the functionalities in the functionality combination.

[0055] In some implementations, if a functionality combination is not associated with area information, the functionality combination may be applicable to the entire public land mobile network (PLMN) where the UE currently registers.

[0056] FIG. 4 is a signaling diagram 400 illustrating communications between a UE 102 and a network entity 104 for reporting functionality combination information. The network entity 104 may be a base station or includes a unit of a base station, such as the RU 106, the DU 108, the CU 110, etc. The network entity 104 may correspond to core network (CN) entities (e.g., access and mobility management function (AMF) , or location management function (LMF) entity as well.

[0057] As shown in FIG. 4, the network entity 104 receives 405, from the UE 102 (and the UE 102 transmits, to the network entity 104) , a UL message including functionality combination information. In some implementations, the UL massage may be a UE to BS message. For example, the UE to BS message is a UL RRC message such as a UE Capability Information message, a UE Assistance Information (UAI) message, a RRCXComplete message (e.g., a RRCSetupComplete message, a RRCResumeComplete message, a RRCReconfigurationComplete message, or a RRCReestablishmentComplete message) . In this example, the UE 102 may receive a DL RRC message from the network entity 104, causing the UE 102 to transmit the UL RRC message. The DL RRC message may be a UE Capability Enquiry message, a RRCSetup message, a RRCResume message, a RRCReconfiguration message, or a RRCReestablishment message. In another example, the UE to BS message is a UL Medium Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE) . In this example, the UE 102 may receive a DL RRC message or a DL MAC from the network entity 104, causing the UE 102 to transmit the UL MAC CE. In other implementations, the message is a UE to LMF message. For example, the UE to LMF message is an LTE positioning protocol (LPP) message (e.g., a LPP Provide Capabilities message) . The UE 102 may receive an LMF to UE message from the network entity 104, causing the UE 102 to transmit the UE to LMF message. For example, the LMF to UE message is a LPP message (e.g., a LPP Request Capabilities message) . It is understood that this is merely for an illustration and not for limitation of the implementation to acquire the functionality combination information at the network entity 104. In some implementations, the network entity 104 (e.g., a RAN node or LMF) receives, from a core network (CN) , the functionality combination information in a CN to RAN message or a CN to LMF message. For example, the CN entity is an access and mobility management function (AMF) . For example, the CN to RAN message is an NG application protocol message. In another example, the CN to LMF message is an LPP A (LPPa) message. In some other implementations, the network entity is a target network entity that receives the functionality combination information from a source network entity in an interface message during a handover preparation. The interface message may be a BS to BS message such as an Xn application protocol (XnAP) message, or a 6G interface message. For example, the interface message is a Handover Request message or a Retrieve UE Context Response message.

[0058] The UE 102 communicates 415, with the network entity 104, (and the network entity 104 communicates with the UE 102) , based on the functionality combination information.

[0059] FIG. 5 is a signaling diagram 500 illustrating an example of an on-demand functionality combination information reporting procedure according to an embodiment.

[0060] The UE 102 may transmit 501, to the network entity 104, (and the network entity 104 receive 501, from the UE 102) , a UL message (e.g., functionality report) including separate functionality information for each use case. For example, the UE 102 transmits 501 functionality information indicating support of A1-1, A1-2, A2-1, and A2-2 to the NE1; or transmits functionality information indicating support of B1-1 and B1-2 to the NE2. The UL message may include an indication (also known as a first indication) of a functionality combination indicating support of more than one functionality performed simultaneously. For example, the UE 102 indicates in the UL message that the UE supports the functionality combination. The UL message 501 shows the separate functionality information and the first indication are included in a single message. In some alternative implementations, the first indication may be transmitted in a separate message instead of the message 501.

[0061] In some embodiments, the UE 102 receives 504, from the network entity 104, (and the network entity transmits 504, to the UE 102) , a DL message including a request indication indicating the UE 102 to report the functionality combination. In some implementations, the DL message is a UE Capability Enquiry message or a RRCX message (e.g., RRCSetup, RRCResume, RRCReestablishment, or RRCReconfiguration message) . In other implementations, the DL message is a LPP message (e.g., a LPP Request Capabilities message) . In some implementations, the first request indication includes area information. The area information in the first request indication information can indicate which area the UE is requested to report the functionality combination information. The UE 102 may generate the functionality combination information based on the area information.

[0062] In some implementations, the request indication includes use case information indicating use case (s) . The UE 102 generates functionality combination (s) applicable to the use case (s) . In some implementations, the UE 102 may include other functionality combination (s) in the functionality combination information 405, where the other functionality combination (s) are not applicable to the use case (s) . In other implementations, the UE 102 may omit other functionality combination (s) in the functionality combination information 405, where the other functionality combination (s) are not applicable to the use case (s) . In some other implementations, the request indication may include includes omitted use case (s) . The UE 102 omits, in the functionality combination information 405, functionality combination (s) applicable to the omitted use case (s) .

[0063] Then, the UE 102 transmits 405, to the network entity 104 (and the network entity receive, from the UE 102) , the functionality combination information, e.g., based on the first request indication information.

[0064] FIG. 6 is a signaling diagram illustrating an example of a type-based functionality combination information reporting procedure according to an embodiment.

[0065] In some embodiments, the UE 102 may transmit 601, to the network entity 104, (and the network entity receive 601, from the UE 102) , supported functionality combination type information. The supported functionality combination type information may indicate one or more types for a functionality or a functionality combination included in the functionality combination information. For example, the supported functionality combination type information includes at least one of: (intra-NE) intra-use case, intra-NE inter-use case, inter-NE (inter-) use case, and / or the use case information, for which the functionality can be combined, or other. In some implementations, the type information can further include area information which is described above.

[0066] The network entity 104 (e.g., NE1) may acquire 603 functionality activation information for the functionalities controlled by the NE2. The functionality activation information may indicate whether at least one functionality controlled by the NE2 is currently activated, or indicate the functionality information of at least one activated functionality controlled by the NE2. The NE1 may acquire the functionality activation information from the UE 102, the NE2, or other network entities. It is understood that the order of procedure 603 is just for merely exemplary. Procedure 603 may be performed in other order (s) , e.g., before 601, after procedure 604, along with procedure 605, after procedure 605, etc.

[0067] The UE 102 receives 604, from the network entity 104, (and the network entity 104 transmits to the UE 102) , a requested functionality combination type indication. In some implementations, the requested functionality combination type indication may further include area information indicating which area (s) the UE can report a functionality combination associated with the are (s) . In some implementations, the requested functionality combination type indication includes requested functionality combination type information. The requested functionality combination type information may indicate type (s) as described above for the supported functionality combination type information. In such implementations, the UE 102 includes functionality combination (s) applicable to the type (s) in the functionality combination information 605. In some implementations, the UE 102 may include other functionality combination (s) in the functionality combination information 605, where the other functionality combination (s) are not applicable to the type (s) . In other implementations, the UE 102 may omit other functionality combination (s) in the functionality combination information 605, where the other functionality combination (s) are not applicable to the type (s) . In some other implementations, the requested functionality combination type indication includes omitted functionality combination type information. The omitted functionality combination type information may indicate one or more type (s) as described above for the supported functionality combination type information. If the omitted functionality combination type information is present, the UE 102 omits, in the functionality combination information 605, functionality combination (s) applicable to the omitted type (s) .

[0068] When the UE 102 receives the requested functionality combination type indication, the UE 102 transmits 605, to the network entity 104 (and the network entity receives 605, from the UE 102) , functionality combination information based on the type indication.

[0069] In the example 600, the UE 102 can report a subset of the functionality combination information based on the type information as requested by the network entity 104. By requesting a selected functionality combination information according to the type indication information, the signaling overhead may be reduced for the functionality combination information reporting.

[0070] FIG. 7 is a signaling diagram 700 illustrating an example of a network entity-based determination for applicable functionality combination information according to an embodiment.

[0071] The UE 102 transmits 705, to the network entity 1 104 (e.g., NE1) (and the network entity 104 receives 705, from the UE 102) , supported functionality combination information. For example, the UE 102 transmits, to the NE1, the supported functionality combination information. In some implementations, the UE 102 may report all the supported functionality combinations. In some implementations, the UE 102 may report the supported functionality combinations based on the network entity request. For example, the functionality combination includes the supported functionality combination information as the following: { [A1-1, A2-1, B1-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2, B1-1] ; [A1-1, B1-2] ; [A1-2, B1-1] ; [A2-2, B2B1-12] } .

[0072] The UE 102 transmits 706, to the NE1 (and the NE1 receives 706 from the UE 102) , applicable functionality information, or applicable functionality information and functionality activation information for the NE2. It is understood that the UE 102 reports the separate applicable functionality information to the NE. The UE 102 can report applicable functionality information in layer 3 signaling, L1 (e.g., UCI)  / L2 (e.g., MAC CE) related signaling and other possible messages. The layer 3 signaling can be UE assistance information (UAI) message, RRCXComplete message, LPP signaling related message or other L3 message.

[0073] In some implementations, the UE 102 may determine whether a functionality is applicable or not (not shown in FIG. 7) based on at least one of: NW-side additional condition (or NW-side associated ID) , model availability for this functionality, or UE internal information.

[0074] The UE 102 may report the applicable functionality information for functionalities controlled by the NE1. Additionally, the UE 102 may report to the NE1 the functionality activation information for NE2.

[0075] For example, the applicable functionality information may be: {A1-1, A1-2, A2-1, A2-2} . Optionally, the functionality activation information for the NE2 indicates that no functionality controlled by NE2 is currently activated.

[0076] In some implementations, for CA case, the applicable functionality information can further include area information to indicate the related area of the reported applicable functionality information.

[0077] The NE1 may determine 707 the applicable functionality combination information based at least on the information provided in 705 and 706.

[0078] For example, the NE1 obtains the following information: supported functionality combination information: { [A1-1, A2-1, B1-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2, B1-1] ; [A1-1, B1-2] ; [A1-2, B1-1] ; [A1-2, A2-2, B1-2] } ; applicable functionality information: {A1-1, A1-2, A2-1, A2-2} ; functionality activation information for NE2: no activated functionality controlled by NE2. Based on the above information, the NE1 determines that the applicable functionality combination information is { [A1-1, A2-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2] ; [A1-2, A2-2] } as shown in the table below.

[0079] In some implementations, for CA case, the applicable functionality information can further include the cell information to indicate for which cell the applicable functionality is determined. For an example of CA case, it can be assumed that the applicable functionality information is reported as below:

[0080] As illustrated above, the NE1 determines that the applicable functionality combination information is { [A1-1, A2-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2] ; [A1-2, A2-2] } . The NE1 may activate the functionalities of the applicable combination information within one cell or across multiple cells.

[0081] For example, the NE1 activates both [A1-1, A2-1] in Cell 1, or [A1-1] in Cell 1 and [A2-2] in Cell 2.

[0082] In some embodiments, NE1 may transmit 708, to the UE 102 (and the UE may receive 708 from the network entity 104) , the activation information to activate the related functionality at UE side.

[0083] In some implementations, the NE1 can transmit the activation information of A1-1 and A2-1 to the UE 102 to activate two functionalities simultaneously for related use cases.

[0084] Optionally, the embodiment can also include additional procedures due to the change of the activation information for the NE2.

[0085] In some implementations, for CA case, the activation information can further include area information. The activation information is used to indicate the activated functionality information for the related area. For example, the activation information includes cell 1 for both A1-1 and A2-1, or include cell 1 for A1-1 and cell 2 for A2-2.

[0086] The UE 102 detects 709 a change in the functionality activation information for NE2. In some implementations, the UE 102 is configured to activate the functionality B1-1 by the NE2. As such, the UE 102 determines that the functionality activation information for NE2 has changed.

[0087] The UE 102 transmits 710, to the network entity 104 (the network entity 104 receives 710 from the UE 102) , first modification information for the applicable combination functionality information. In some implementations, the first modification information for applicable combination functionality information can indicate the functionality information of the activated functionality controlled by the NE2. For example, the UE 102 sends the B1-1 activation information to the NE1.

[0088] In some implementations, the first modification information can be indication information to inform NE1 that at least one functionality controlled by NE2 is activated. Correspondingly, the NE1 can request the activated functionality information to NE2 (not shown) . Furthermore, the NE1 can receive the activated functionality information from NE2 (not shown) .

[0089] In some implementations, the NE2 can proactively send the activated functionality information to the NE1 (not shown) .

[0090] The NE1 updates 711 the applicable functionality combination information based on the first modification information.

[0091] In some implementations, the NE1 can determine the updated application functionality information based on the supported functionality combination information, the previous applicable functionality combination information, and the first modification information. For example, supported functionality combination information: { [A1-1, A2-1, B1-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2, B1-1] ; [A1-1, B1-2] ; [A1-2, B1-1] ; [A1-2, A2-2, B1-2] } ; previous applicable functionality combination information: { [A1-1, A2-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2] ; [A1-2, A2-2] } ; first modification information: B1-1 is activated.

[0092] The NE1 may identify that the activation of functionality B1-1 means that the previously applicable functionality combination of [A1-2, A2-2] will not be supported. The NE1 will determine the updated applicable functionality combination information as: { [A1-1, A2-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2] .

[0093] In this disclosure, the UE reports the supported functionality combination information and determines the applicable functionality information if the checking condition (s) changes. This will reduce the signaling overhead due to changes of applicable functionality combination information and complexity at UE side.

[0094] FIG. 8 is a signaling diagram illustrating an example of a UE-based determination for applicable functionality combination information according to an embodiment.

[0095] The UE 102 transmits 805, to the network entity 104 (the network entity 104 receives 805 from the UE 102) , applicable functionality combination information. In some implementations, the UE 102 may report all the applicable functionality combinations. In some implementations, the UE 102 can report the applicable functionality combinations based on the network request. The determination of the applicable functionality information and the applicable functionality combination information at UE side may be according to the above-described embodiments.

[0096] For example, the content of applicable functionality combination information includes all the applicable functionality combination information. The detailed information may be: { [A1-1, A2-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2] ; [A1-2, A2-2] } .

[0097] Additionally, the UE 102 may report functionality activation information for at least one functionality controlled by the NE2. For example, the functionality activation information for NE2 indicates that no functionality controlled by NE2 is activated currently. The acquisition of the functionality activation information for NE2 at NE1 side can refer to the above-described embodiments.

[0098] In some implementations, the UE is configured to activate the functionality B1-1 by NE2. As such, the UE determines that the functionality activation information for NE2 changes.

[0099] The UE 102 transmits 810, to the network entity 104 (the network entity 104 receives 810 from the UE 102) , a second modification information for applicable combination functionality information.

[0100] In some implementations, the second modification information for applicable combination functionality information can be the modification of the previous applicable functionality combination information.

[0101] In one example, the UE 102 reports the removal information of the previously applicable functionality combination of [A1-2, A2-2] .

[0102] In another example, the UE 102 reports the updated / latest applicable functionality combination information to be: { [A1-1, A2-1] ; [A1-1, A2-2] .

[0103] As such, the UE 102 informs the NE1 the change of the applicable functionality combination information and assists the NE1 to remove the applicable functionality combination of [A1-2, A2-2]

[0104] The NE1 updates 811 the applicable functionality combination information based on the second modification information.

[0105] In this embodiment, the UE determines the applicable functionality combination information and reports to the network entity. This may reduce the complexity at the network entity side. Additionally, the triggering of the second modification information provides a synchronization of the available applicable functionality combination information between the UE 102 and the network entity 104.

[0106] FIG. 9 is a signaling diagram 900 illustrating an example of an activated functionality deactivation procedure based on a network entity indication according to an embodiment.

[0107] Initially, at least one functionality is activated 908 at the UE side.

[0108] The UE 102 receives 912, from the network entity 104 (the network entity 104, transmits 912 to the UE 102) , the deactivation indication information. The deactivation indication information may indicate whether the UE is allowed to autonomously deactivate the activated functionality at UE side when detecting abnormal case (s) , or detecting that the activated functionality becomes non-applicable.

[0109] The determination on whether one functionality is applicable or not can refer to the previous description. The UE can determine whether the activated functionality is still applicable or becomes non-applicable.

[0110] The abnormal case (s) can be at least one of the following: low power state, memory limitation, overheating, computation limitation, no event-triggered, or other (s) .

[0111] When the UE 913 detects abnormal case (s) e.g., the UE is in low power state, or in overheating state, or when the UE detects that the activated functionality becomes non-applicable, the UE 102 deactivates 913 the related functionality based on the deactivation indication information.

[0112] In the example, common deactivation indication information is merely for illustration.

[0113] In other possible design, the deactivation indication information can be associated with at least one of the following: abnormal case information which indicates at least one abnormal case, or functionality information which indicates at least one functionality identification (s) . For example, the deactivation indication information is configured for low power state. When the UE detects low power state, the UE can autonomously deactivate the activated functionality. If the UE detects overheating state, the UE keeps the activated functionality. And / or, the deactivation indication information is configured for functionality 1. When the UE detects that the activated functionality 1 is / becomes non-applicable, the UE can autonomously deactivate the activated functionality 1. If the UE detects that the activated functionality 2 is / becomes non-applicable, the UE keeps the activated functionality 2.

[0114] In one possible design, the UE 102 detects or determines abnormal case (s) based on the configuration information from the network entity 104. The network entity 104 may transmit to the UE configuration information on how to determine abnormal case (s) . The configuration information indicates the parameter (s) or criteria for UE to determine abnormal case (s) .

[0115] In other possible design, it is up to the UE implementation to detect or determine abnormal case (s) . In another possible design, the criteria to determine abnormal case (s) can be pre-defined in specification.

[0116] The UE 102 transmits 914, to the network entity 104 (and the network entity 104 receives 914 the UE 102) the change information of the applicable functionality information.

[0117] In one possible design, the change information can be the new applicable functionality information, or second modification information for the previously reported applicable functionality.

[0118] In another possible design, the change information can be the deactivation information of the activated functionality, which indicates that the deactivation of the previously activated functionality is successfully completed. It is understood that if more than one functionality is activated at UE side, the deactivation information can indicate the identification information of the activated functionality which has been deactivated.

[0119] In yet another possible design, the change information can be included in layer 1, e.g., UCI, layer 2, e.g., MAC-CE, or layer 3 signaling. For layer 3 signaling case, it can be UE assistance information (UAI) message, RRCXComplete message, LPP message or other L3 message.

[0120] The embodiments of the disclosure may enable faster deactivation of non-applicable functionality which is activated currently at UE side under network entity 104 control, or faster deactivation of activated functionality (ies) upon abnormal case (s) under network entity 104 control.

[0121] FIG. 10 is a signaling diagram 1000 illustrating an example of an applicable functionality combination information reporting procedure via a specific radio resource control (RRC) message based on a network entity indication according to an embodiment.

[0122] Currently, the UE 102 can report applicable functionality information or applicable functionality combination information (referred to as applicable functionality (combination) information) via RRCXcomplete message or UAI message. It is UE implementation to decide the message for the first reporting of applicable functionality (combination) information.

[0123] As illustrated in FIG. 10, the network entity 104 can indicate reporting indication information in the RRCX message, which indicates whether the UE shall report applicable functionality (combination) information in the corresponding RRCXcomplete message. For example, if the network entity 104 wants UE 102 to report the applicable functionality (combination) information in time, the network entity 104 can configure reporting indication information to indicate whether the UE 102 is required to report the applicable functionality (combination) information firstly in RRCXcomplete message (or UAI message) .

[0124] As illustrated in FIG. 10, the reporting indication information is introduced into RRCReconfiguration message. The UE 102 receives 1002, from the network entity 104 (and the network entity 104 transmits 1002, to the UE 102) reporting indication information, e.g., in RRCReconfiguration message.

[0125] The reporting indication information in the RRCReconfiguration message indicates that the UE shall include the applicable functionality (combination) information if existing / available in the RRCReconfigurationComplete message.

[0126] In some implementations, the UE receives the reporting indication information along with NW-side additional condition or NW-side associated ID in the RRCReconfiguration message.

[0127] The network entity 104 receives 1005, from the UE 102 (and the UE 102 transmits 1005, to the network entity 104) , applicable functionality (combination) information to the NE in the RRCReconfigurationComplete message.

[0128] The UE performs determination of the applicable functionality (combination) information (not shown) . If there is applicable functionality (combination) information available at UE side, and if the UE 102 receives the reporting indication information, the UE 102 shall report the applicable functionality (combination) information to the network entity 104 in the RRCReconfigurationComplete message. If there is no available applicable functionality (combination) information determined at UE side, the UE 102 will not include any applicable functionality (combination) information in the in the RRCReconfigurationComplete message (not shown) . Optionally, if there is no available applicable functionality (combination) information determined at UE side, the UE 102 may include an indicator to indicate that no applicable functionality (combination) information can be found / determined (not shown) .

[0129] In some implementations, if there is applicable functionality (combination) information available at UE side, and if the UE does not receive the reporting indication information, it is up to UE implementation whether to provide the applicable functionality (combination) information in the RRCReconfigurationComplete message or in a UAI message.

[0130] The embodiments of the disclosure may enable the UE to report the applicable functionality related information promptly under network entity 104 control.

[0166] The on-chip memory 1406', 1426', 1446'a nd the additional modules of memory 1416, 1436, 1456 may each be considered a computer-readable medium  / memory. Each computer-readable medium  / memory may be non-transitory. Each of the processors 1406, 1426, 1446 is responsible for general processing, including execution of software stored on the computer-readable medium  / memory. The software, when executed by the corresponding processor (s) 1406, 1426, 1446 causes the processor (s) 1406, 1426, 1446 to perform the various functions described herein. The computer-readable medium  / memory may also be used for storing data that is manipulated by the processor (s) 1406, 1426, 1446 when executing the software. In examples, the functionality combination information configuration component 150 may sit at any of the one or more network entities 104, such as at the CU 110; both the CU 110 and the DU 108; each of the CU 110, the DU 108, and the RU 106; the DU 108; both the DU 108 and the RU 106; or the RU 106.

[0167] As discussed in FIG. 1A and implemented with respect to FIG. 12, the functionality combination information configuration component 150 is configured to receive, from a user equipment, UE, functionality combination information indicating at least two functionalities for simultaneous performance by the UE; and communicate, with the UE, based on the functionality combination information.

[0168] The functionality combination information configuration component 150 may be within one or more processors of the one or more network entities 104, such as the RU processor 1406 (e.g., at 150a) , the DU processor 1426 (e.g., at 150b) , and / or the CU processor 1446 (e.g., at 150c) . The functionality combination information configuration component 150a-150c may be one or more hardware components specifically configured to carry out the stated processes / algorithm, implemented by one or more processors 1406, 1426, 1446 configured to perform the stated processes / algorithm, stored within a computer-readable medium for implementation by the one or more processors 1406, 1426, 1446, or a combination thereof.

[0169] The specific order or hierarchy of blocks in the processes and flowcharts disclosed herein is an illustration of example approaches. Hence, the specific order or hierarchy of blocks in the processes and flowcharts may be rearranged. Some blocks may also be combined or deleted. Dashed lines may indicate optional elements of the diagrams. The accompanying method claims present elements of the various blocks in an example order, and are not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented in the claims, processes, and flowcharts.

[0170] The detailed description set forth herein describes various configurations in connection with the drawings and does not represent the only configurations in which the concepts described herein may be practiced. The detailed description includes specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough explanation of various concepts. However, these concepts may be practiced without these specific details. In some instances, well known structures and components are shown in block diagram form in order to avoid obscuring such concepts.

[0171] Aspects of wireless communication systems, such as telecommunication systems, are presented with reference to various apparatuses and methods. These apparatuses and methods are described in the following detailed description and are illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, components, circuits, processes, call flows, systems, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as “elements” ) . These elements may be implemented using electronic hardware, computer software, or combinations thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system.

[0172] An element, or any portion of an element, or any combination of elements may be implemented as a “processing system” that includes one or more processors. Examples of processors include microprocessors, microcontrollers, graphics processing units (GPUs) , central processing units (CPUs) , application processors, digital signal processors (DSPs) , reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processors, systems-on-chip (SoC) , baseband processors, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) , programmable logic devices (PLDs) , state machines, gated logic, discrete hardware circuits, and other similar hardware configured to perform the various functionality described throughout this disclosure. One or more processors in the processing system may execute software, which may be referred to as software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description language, or otherwise. Software shall be construed broadly to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software components, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executables, threads of execution, procedures, functions, or any combination thereof.

[0173] If the functionality described herein is implemented in software, the functions may be stored on, or encoded as, one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium, such as a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. Computer-readable media includes computer storage media and can include a random-access memory (RAM) , a read-only memory (ROM) , an electrically erasable programmable ROM (EEPROM) , optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage, other magnetic storage devices, combinations of these types of computer-readable media, or any other medium that can be used to store computer executable code in the form of instructions or data structures that can be accessed by a computer. Storage media may be any available media that can be accessed by a computer.

[0174] Aspects, implementations, and / or use cases described herein may be implemented across many differing platform types, devices, systems, shapes, sizes, and packaging arrangements. For example, the aspects, implementations, and / or use cases may come about via integrated chip implementations and other non-module-component based devices, such as end-user devices, vehicles, communication devices, computing devices, industrial equipment, retail / purchasing devices, medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI) -enabled devices, machine learning (ML) -enabled devices, etc. The aspects, implementations, and / or use cases may range from chip-level or modular components to non-modular or non-chip-level implementations, and further to aggregate, distributed, or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices or systems incorporating one or more techniques described herein.

[0175] Devices incorporating the aspects and features described herein may also include additional components and features for the implementation and practice of the claimed and described aspects and features. For example, transmission and reception of wireless signals necessarily includes a number of components for analog and digital purposes, such as hardware components, antennas, RF-chains, power amplifiers, modulators, buffers, processor (s) , interleavers, adders / summers, etc. Techniques described herein may be practiced in a wide variety of devices, chip-level components, systems, distributed arrangements, aggregated or disaggregated components, end-user devices, etc., of varying configurations.

[0176] The description herein is provided to enable a person skilled in the art to practice the various aspects described herein. Various modifications to these aspects will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the generic principles defined herein may be applied to other aspects. Thus, the claims are not limited to the aspects described herein, but are to be interpreted in view of the full scope of the present disclosure consistent with the language of the claims.

[0177] Reference to an element in the singular does not mean “one and only one” unless specifically stated, but rather “one or more. ” Terms such as “if, ” “when, ” and “while” do not imply an immediate temporal relationship or reaction. That is, these phrases, e.g., “when, ” do not imply an immediate action in response to or during the occurrence of an action, but simply imply that if a condition is met then an action will occur, but without requiring a specific or immediate time constraint for the action to occur. The terms “may” , “might” , and “can” , as used in this disclosure, often carry certain connotations. For example, “may” refers to a permissible feature that may or may not occur, “might” refers to a feature that probably occurs, and “can” refers to a capability (e.g., capable of) . The phrase “For example” often carries a similar connotation to “may” and, therefore, “may” is sometimes excluded from sentences that include “for example” or other similar phrases.

[0178] Unless specifically stated otherwise, the term “some” refers to one or more. Combinations such as “at least one of A, B, or C” or “one or more of A, B, or C” include any combination of A, B, and / or C, such as A and B, A and C, B and C, or A and B and C, and may include multiples of A, multiples of B, and / or multiples of C, or may include A only, B only, or C only. Sets should be interpreted as a set of elements where the elements number one or more. Terms or articles such as “a” , “an” , and / or “the” may refer to one of an item, feature, element, etc., that the term or article precedes, or may refer to more than one of said item, feature, element, etc. that the term or article precedes. For example, the recitation “awidget” does not preclude reference to multiples of said widget, as “multiple widgets” necessarily includes “awidget” . Hence, the recitation “awidget” may be interpreted as “at least one widget” or, similarly, interpreted as “one or more widgets” .

[0179] Unless otherwise specifically indicated, ordinal terms such as “first” and “second” do not necessarily imply an order in time, sequence, numerical value, etc., but are used to distinguish between different instances of a term or phrase that follows each ordinal term. In the above description, “perform” and “performed” can be replaced with “activate” and “activated” respectively. “information” can be replaced by “information element” .

[0180] Reference numbers, as used in the specification and figures, are sometimes cross-referenced among drawings to denote same or similar features. A feature that is exactly the same in multiple drawings may be labeled with the same reference number in the multiple drawings. A feature that is similar among the multiple drawings, but not exactly the same, may be labeled with reference numbers that have different leading numbers but have one or more of the same trailing numbers (e.g., 206, 306, 406, etc., may refer to similar features in the drawings) . Hence, like numbers may refer to like actions.

[0181] Structural and functional equivalents to elements of the various aspects described throughout this disclosure that are known or later come to be known to those of ordinary skill in the art are expressly incorporated herein by reference and are encompassed by the claims. The words “module, ” “mechanism, ” “element, ” “device, ” and the like may not be a substitute for the word “means. ” As such, no claim element is to be construed as a means plus function unless the element is expressly recited using the phrase “means for. ” As used herein, the phrase “based on” shall not be construed as a reference to a closed set of information, one or more conditions, one or more factors, or the like. In other words, the phrase “based on A” , where “A” may be information, a condition, a factor, or the like, shall be construed as “based at least on A” unless specifically recited differently.
