Abstract

According to the invention, it is possible to use these inertial sensors, distributed at strategic points on the player, with an appropriate control law and by analysing the movement of each part of the body, they will allow the calculation of the position of the player's instantaneous centre of gravity. Subsequently, by applying the same reasoning to the last defender, it will be possible to precisely determine the offside position with absolute certainty, based on the automatic detection of the centre of gravity; the point where a footballer's key qualities in terms of balance, power and acceleration reside.

[0002] DESCRIPTION

[0003] This report describes a new technology project for determining offside positions in soccer. Based on sensors placed in the drawstring of shorts, it is designed to calculate the center of gravity of each player, establishing, with millimeter precision, the distance to both their own and the opposing goal. To achieve this, we will use a specific electronic device called an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), capable of detecting the acceleration and angular velocity of a body and, in some cases, the surrounding magnetic field. This device integrates an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a magnetometer, and now also incorporates a touchscreen chronograph watch. These instruments are called inertial sensors because they utilize the inertial properties of the player's body to take measurements.Inertial measurement units (IMUs) have applications in many different sectors: for example, they are used for aircraft control; navigation; vehicle and smartphone tracking, as orientation sensors. They are also used in some gaming consoles to control movements. In the field of fitness, inertial sensors are used to measure movement and calculate parameters related to specific physical activities and are widely used in sports and motion capture technologies. In clinical settings, they are used to assess movement performance and balance, and to monitor patients during motor rehabilitation.If a body is equipped with multiple IMUs, distributed at strategic points, it is possible to analyze the movement of each part of the body and calculate the dynamic center of gravity during movement. With our integration, we will create a new device, which we will call the IMUC, capable of fulfilling all the tasks of the IMU, but at a given moment established by an impulse launched each time the ball is hit, thus tracing the line of players on the field, with the relative distance to the goal.

Claims

CLAIMS The applicant inventors, Gaetano MARTIRE, Gabriele SCARANO, and Michele ERRICO, request that the invention referred to in this report be protected by patent, as indicated in the specification reported in the attached DESCRIPTION, which refers to the invention of the positioning of the aforementioned IMUCs in the sports clothing of the players and more precisely in the series of shorts in which 4 (four) will be placed that will determine with maximum precision the measurement of the center of gravity of each player who will use the same shorts; therefore, they also request that the system of inertial measurement units for the measurement of distances, i.e., IMUC, together with what we will call DISTANCE CORD, be protected by the same patent.The same IMUC sensors will be positioned at different points of the goal net necessary to measure the position of the two regulation goals on the football fields where they will be used and which must communicate with each other and with all the same devices in the shorts, worn by the players on the field.
