Description

Terminals and communication methods

[0001] The present invention relates to a terminal and a communication method in a wireless communication system.

[0002] In mobile communication systems, low-frequency bands play a crucial role in accommodating indoor traffic in urban areas and extensive traffic in suburban and rural areas due to their superior propagation characteristics. However, carrier aggregation (CA) between low frequencies, such as the 800MHz FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) band (Band n5) and the 700MHz SDL (Supplemental DownLink) band (Band n29), has not been realized conventionally due to the complexity of terminal transceiver circuit design and control.

[0003] The 3GPP (registered trademark) (3rd Generation Partnership Project) is investigating a method for time-division switching between FDD carriers and SDL carriers using a semi-static switching pattern, in order to resolve the complexity of terminal implementation and realize low-frequency carrier aggregation (LBCA).

[0004] On the other hand, the 3GPP standards specify the Radio Resource Management (RRM) requirement and the Radio Link Monitoring (RLM) requirement based on measurements using periodic SSB (Synchronization Signal Block) or CSI-RS (Channel State Information Reference Signal) occasions.

[0005] 3GPP TS 38.300 V18.4.0(2024-12)3GPP TS 38.401 V18.4.0(2024-12)

[0006] The switching between the FDD carrier and SDL carrier using the semi-static switching pattern described above may result in resource unavailability at specific times. Therefore, some periodic SSB and CSI-RS occasions may not be usable for measurement, potentially failing to meet conventional RRM and RLM requirements.

[0007] The terminal in this embodiment includes a communication unit that performs uplink and downlink communication using a first carrier and downlink communication using a second carrier, and a control unit that performs time-division switching between the first carrier and the second carrier using a switching pattern, wherein the control unit calculates parameters used to evaluate at least one of the RRM (Radio Resource Management) requirements or RLM (Radio Link Monitoring) requirements based on the period of the measurement signal and the occasion of the measurement signal that overlaps with the slot or symbol of the second carrier in the switching pattern.

[0008] According to this embodiment, new RRM and RLM requirements can be defined that take into account the switching between the FDD carrier and the SDL carrier using a switching pattern.

[0010] This embodiment will be described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the embodiments described below are examples, and the embodiments to which the present invention applies are not limited to those described below.

[0011] The wireless communication system of this embodiment operates using existing technology. Existing technology is, for example, wireless communication technology based on communication standards such as the 3GPP standard. Existing technology is, for example, NR (New Radio), but is not limited to existing NR. As used herein, the term "NR" has a broad meaning that includes NR (5G) and later systems (e.g., 6G), unless otherwise specified.

[0012] In the embodiments described below, we will use terms such as SS (Synchronization signal), PSS (Primary SS), SSS (Secondary SS), PBCH (Physical broadcast channel), PRACH (Physical random access channel), PDCCH (Physical Downlink Control Channel), PDSCH (Physical Downlink Shared Channel), PUCCH (Physical Uplink Control Channel), and PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel), which are used in existing communication standards. This is for convenience of description, and similar signals, functions, etc., may be called by other names.

[0013] In this embodiment, the duplex method may be a TDD (Time Division Duplex) method, an FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) method, or any other method (for example, a Flexible Duplex).

[0014] In this embodiment, "configuring" wireless parameters means that predetermined values are pre-configured, or that wireless parameters notified by the base station 10 or terminal 20 are configured.

[0015] Figure 1 shows an example of the configuration of a wireless communication system in this embodiment. The wireless communication system in this embodiment includes a base station 10 and a terminal 20, as shown in Figure 1. Although Figure 1 shows one base station 10 and one terminal 20, this is an example, and there may be multiple base stations 10 and terminal 20.

[0016] The base station 10 is a communication device that provides one or more cells and performs wireless communication with the terminal 20. The physical resources of the wireless signal are defined in the time domain and the frequency domain. The time domain may be defined by the number of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols, and the frequency domain may be defined by the number of subcarriers or the number of resource blocks. The base station 10 transmits the synchronization signal and the system information to the terminal 20. The synchronization signal is, for example, PSS and SSS. The system information is transmitted, for example, by PBCH and is also referred to as notification information. The synchronization signal and the system information may be called SSB (SS / PBCH block). As shown in FIG. 1, the base station 10 transmits the control signal or data to the terminal 20 in the DL (Downlink) and receives the control signal or data from the terminal 20 in the UL (Uplink). Both the base station 10 and the terminal 20 are capable of performing beamforming for signal transmission and reception. Also, both the base station 10 and the terminal 20 are capable of applying communication by MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) to DL or UL. Also, both the base station 10 and the terminal 20 may perform communication via the secondary cell (SCell: Secondary Cell) and the primary cell (PCell: Primary Cell) by CA (Carrier Aggregation). Further, the terminal 20 may perform communication via the primary cell of the base station 10 and the primary secondary cell group cell (PSCell: Primary SCG Cell) of another base station 10 by DC (Dual Connectivity).

[0017] The terminal 20 is a communication device equipped with a wireless communication function such as a smartphone, a mobile phone, a tablet, a wearable terminal, a communication module for M2M (Machine-to-Machine), etc. As shown in FIG. 1, the terminal 20 receives a control signal or data from the base station 10 in the DL and transmits a control signal or data to the base station 10 in the UL, thereby using various communication services provided by the wireless communication system. Further, the terminal 20 receives various reference signals transmitted from the base station 10 and executes measurement of the propagation path quality based on the reception result of the reference signal.

[0018] The terminal 20 in the present embodiment may perform communication using one serving cell, or may perform communication (for example, CA or DC) using a plurality of serving cells.

[0019] In the following description, " / " means "and / or" unless otherwise specified or unless it is clear from the context that it has a different meaning.

[0020] In a mobile communication system, Low Band plays an important role in accommodating indoor traffic in urban areas and extensive traffic in suburban and rural areas due to its excellent propagation characteristics. However, CA (LBCA) in Low Band has not been fully utilized from the perspective of the implementation difficulty of the terminal.

[0021] For example, the use of CA between low frequencies such as the 800 MHz band FDD band (Band n5) and the 700 MHz band SDL band (Band n29) has not been widely adopted so far due to the complexity of the design and control of the transmission and reception circuits in the terminal. On the other hand, SDL (Supplemental Downlink) bands such as Band n29 have been mainly used for multimedia broadcasting (MBS) applications in the past, but in recent years, the diversion of their communication uses has attracted attention.

[0022] In 3GPP, as shown in Figure 2, it has been proposed to improve low-band capacity while resolving terminal implementation difficulties by switching between the FDD band and the SDL band in CA. This approach considers switching based on the following two cases.

[0023] Case 1: Transmit and receive data on an FDD carrier (e.g., Band n5), but do not receive data on an SDL carrier (e.g., Band n29).

[0024] Case 2: Reception is performed on the SDL carrier, but transmission and reception are not performed on the FDD carrier.

[0025] To enable switching between FDD carriers and SDL carriers, time-division multiplexing using a semi-static switching pattern set by radio resource control (RRC) is being considered.

[0026] On the other hand, the 3GPP standard specifies Radio Resource Management (RRM) requirements and Radio Link Monitoring (RLM) requirements. The RRM requirement is a standard for terminals to efficiently utilize resources inside and outside the cell. The RLM requirement is a standard for maintaining a certain level of radio link quality. The RRM and RLM requirements are specified based on measurements using periodic SSB (Synchronization Signal Block) or CSI-RS (Channel State Information Reference Signal) occasions.

[0027] This semi-static switching pattern between the FDD carrier and the SDL carrier may result in resource unavailability at specific times. Therefore, some periodic SSB and CSI-RS occasions may not be usable for measurement, potentially failing to meet conventional RRM and RLM requirements.

[0028] In this embodiment, new RRM and RLM requirements are defined that take into account the switching between FDD carriers and SDL carriers using a switching pattern.

[0029] In this embodiment, the semi-static switching pattern may also be referred to as a switching pattern or simply a pattern.

[0030] Each embodiment in this embodiment may be performed independently, or any combination of multiple embodiments may be performed.

[0031] In this embodiment, setting "X" (for example, a function or information) on a terminal (or base station) indicates that the terminal is configured with "X".

[0032] In this embodiment, the various information to be set on the terminal may be included, for example, in parameters transmitted from the base station (e.g., upper layer (RRC) parameters). The terminal may set various information on the terminal based on the parameters transmitted from the base station. As another example, various information may be pre-set on the terminal based on a standard (e.g., a 3GPP standard technical specification).

[0033] In this embodiment, terminal 20 supports CA (i.e., LBCA) performed using FDD carrier (Pcell) and SDL carrier (Scell).

[0034] An example of the semi-static switching pattern between FDD and SDL in this embodiment is shown in FIG. 3. FDD is a communication method that performs uplink (UL (Uplink)) communication (i.e., transmission) and downlink (DL (Downlink)) communication (i.e., reception) in different frequency bands. SDL is a mechanism that provides an additional frequency band dedicated to DL. As shown in FIG. 3, the FDD carrier and the SDL carrier are switched in a time division manner.

[0035] (Example 1) In Example 1, a new parameter calculation method considering the period of SMTC (SSB Measurement Timing Configuration) and the overlap frequency between the slots / symbols of the SDL carrier in the semi-static switching pattern is defined. Thereby, time parameters necessary for evaluating the RRM requirement are derived. FIG. 4 is a diagram showing an example of the operation of the terminal 20 in Example 1.

[0036] In step S101 of FIG. 4, the terminal 20 is based on at least the period of SMTC (SSB Measurement Timing Configuration) and the frequency of SMTC occasions that overlap with the slots / symbols of SDL in the semi-static switching pattern, and calculates the K P ,

[0040] value (or N available ). The calculation of the K P value may conform to 3GPP TS 38.133.

[0037] The K P value is a coefficient considering the ratio or frequency of measurable occasions necessary for RRM measurement (e.g., detection of SSB and measurement of signal quality).

[0038] For example, the K P value may be calculated based on the following formula.

[0039] The K P total This indicates the total number of SSBs (all measurement opportunities scheduled within a specified period).

[0041] N overlap This indicates the number of occasions unavailable due to the semi-static switching pattern scheduled within the specified period (the number of occasions unavailable for measurement because slots or symbols overlap).

[0042] K P A correction factor may be added to the formula used to calculate the value.

[0043] In step S102, terminal 20 receives the calculated K P Using the value, T PSS / SSS_sync_intra , TSSBmeasurement_period_intra and / or T SSB_time_index_intra T is derived. PSS / SSS_sync_intra , TSSBmeasurement_period_intra and T SSB_time_index_intra This is an example of a temporal parameter necessary for evaluating the RRM requirement. PSS / SSS_sync_intra This indicates the timing for evaluating the intra-cell synchronization time. TSSBmeasurement_period_intra indicates the SSB measurement period. SSB_time_index_intra This indicates the evaluation time for the SSB time index.

[0044] Another example of Example 1 is, for example, K P A new formula may be defined that adds a coefficient separate from the value, resulting in a longer minimum requirement time than before when there is overlap between the SDL slot / symbol and the SMTC occasion on the semi-static switching pattern.

[0045] (Example 2) Example 2 defines a new parameter calculation method that takes into account the period of the CSI-RS occurrence and the overlap frequency of the SDL carrier with the slot / symbol in the semi-static switching pattern. This allows for the derivation of the temporal parameters necessary for evaluating the RRM requirement. Figure 5 shows an example of the operation of terminal 20 in Example 2.

[0046] In step S201, terminal 20 determines, based on at least the period of CSI-RS for L3 measurement and the frequency of CSI-RS occasions that overlap with the SDL slot / symbol in the semi-static switching pattern, K P_CSI-RS Value (or N available Calculate the result.

[0047] In step S202, terminal 20 receives the calculated K P_CSI-RS The value is used to derive TCSI-RS_measurement_period_intra. TCSI-RS_measurement_period_intra is an example of a temporal parameter necessary for evaluating the RRM requirement. TCSI-RS_measurement_period_intra indicates the time required for CSI-RS measurement.

[0048] For example, K P_CSI-RS The value may be calculated based on the following formula.

[0049] K P_CSI-RS = N total / (N total -N overlap )

[0050] N total This indicates the total number of CSI-RS occasions (all measurement opportunities scheduled within a defined period).

[0051] N overlapThis indicates the number of occasions unavailable due to the semi-static switching pattern scheduled within the specified period (the number of occasions unavailable for measurement because slots or symbols overlap).

[0052] K P_CSI-RS A correction factor may be added to the formula used to calculate the value.

[0053] Another example of Example 2 is, for example, K P_CSI-RS A new formula may be defined that adds a coefficient separate from the value, resulting in a longer minimum requirement time than before when there is overlap between the SDL slot / symbol and the CSI-RS occasion on the semi-static switching pattern.

[0054] (Example 3) Example 3 defines a new parameter calculation method that takes into account the SSB period and the overlap frequency between the SDL carrier slot / symbol in the semi-static switching pattern. This allows for the derivation of the temporal parameters necessary for evaluating the RLM requirement. Figure 6 shows an example of the operation of terminal 20 in Example 3.

[0055] In step S301, terminal 20 calculates a P-value based on at least the SSB period and the frequency of SSB occasions that overlap with the SDL slots / symbols in the semi-static switching pattern. The P-value is a coefficient that indicates the proportion of measurement opportunities (SSB or CSI-RS occasions) for evaluating the link condition, as required by the RLM requirement. The calculation of the P-value may conform to 3GPP TS 38.133.

[0056] In step S302, terminal 20 uses the calculated P value to T Evaluate_out_SSB and / or T Evaluate_in_SSB T is derived. Evaluate_out_SSB and T Evaluate_in_SSB This is an example of a temporal parameter necessary for evaluating the RRM requirement. Evaluate_out_SSB This indicates the time to evaluate the link disconnection.Evaluate_in_SSB This indicates the time to evaluate link reconnection.

[0057] For example, the p-value may be calculated based on the following formula.

[0058] P = N total / (N total -N overlap )

[0059] N total This indicates the total number of SSBs (all measurement opportunities scheduled within a specified period).

[0060] N overlap This indicates the number of occasions unavailable due to the semi-static switching pattern scheduled within the specified period (the number of occasions unavailable for measurement because slots or symbols overlap).

[0061] (Example 4) Example 4 defines a new parameter calculation method that takes into account the period of the CSI-RS occasion and the overlap frequency of the SDL carrier with the slot / symbol in the semi-static switching pattern. This allows for the derivation of the temporal parameters necessary for evaluating the RLM requirement. Figure 7 shows an example of the operation of terminal 20 in Example 4.

[0062] In step S401, terminal 20 calculates the P value based on at least the period of CSI-RS and the frequency of CSI-RS occasions that overlap with the SDL slots / symbols in the semi-static switching pattern.

[0063] In step S402, terminal 20 uses the calculated P value to T Evaluate_out_CSI-RS and / or T Evaluate_in_CSI-RS T is derived. Evaluate_out_CSI-RS and T Evaluate_in_CSI-RS This is an example of a temporal parameter necessary for evaluating the RRM requirement. Evaluate_out_CSI-RS This shows the link disconnection evaluation based on CSI-RS. Evaluate_in_CSI-RS This shows the link reconnection evaluation based on CSI-RS.

[0064] For example, the p-value may be calculated based on the following formula.

[0065] P = N total / (N total -N overlap )

[0066] N total This indicates the total number of CSI-RS occasions (all measurement opportunities scheduled within a defined period).

[0067] N overlap This indicates the number of occasions unavailable due to the semi-static switching pattern scheduled within the specified period (the number of occasions unavailable for measurement because slots or symbols overlap).

[0068] As another example of Examples 3 and 4, for example, a new formula may be defined in which a coefficient other than the P value is added, and the minimum requirement time becomes longer than before when there is an overlap between the SDL slot / symbol and the RLM occasion on the semi-static switching pattern.

[0069] The above-described embodiment allows for the definition of new RRM and RLM requirements that take into account the switching between FDD carriers and SDL carriers using switching patterns. This ensures the measurement accuracy and link quality necessary to satisfy the RRM and RLM requirements, even in LBCA environments where semi-static switching patterns exist.

[0070] (Device Configuration) Next, an example of the functional configuration of the base station 10 and terminal 20 that perform the processes and operations described above will be explained. [0110] The processing procedures, sequences, flowcharts, etc., of each aspect / embodiment described herein may be reordered, provided they are consistent with each other. For example, the methods described herein present various step elements in an exemplary order and are not limited to that specific order.

[0111] In this specification, specific operations performed by the base station 10 may, in some cases, be performed by its upper node. In a network consisting of one or more network nodes having a base station 10, it is clear that various operations performed for communication with the terminal 20 can be performed by the base station 10 and at least one of the other network nodes (for example, an MME or S-GW, but not limited to these). Although the above example illustrates the case where there is one other network node besides the base station 10, the other network node may be a combination of multiple other network nodes (for example, an MME and an S-GW).

[0112] The information or signals described in this disclosure may be output from a higher layer (or lower layer) to a lower layer (or higher layer). They may also be input and output via multiple network nodes.

[0113] Input and output information may be stored in a specific location (e.g., memory) or managed using a management table. Input and output information may be overwritten, updated, or appended to. Output information may be deleted. Input information may be transmitted to other devices.

[0114] The determination in this disclosure may be made by a value represented by one bit (0 or 1), by a Boolean value (true or false), or by a numerical comparison (for example, a comparison with a predetermined value).

[0115] Software should be broadly interpreted to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software modules, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executable files, execution threads, procedures, functions, and so on, whether they are called software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description languages, or by any other name.

[0116] Furthermore, software, instructions, information, etc., may be transmitted and received via a transmission medium. For example, if software is transmitted from a website, server, or other remote source using at least one of wired technology (such as coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, twisted pair, or digital subscriber line (DSL)) and wireless technology (such as infrared or microwave), then at least one of these wired and wireless technologies is included in the definition of a transmission medium.

[0117] The information, signals, etc. described in this disclosure may be represented using any of the various different techniques. For example, the data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, chips, etc. that may be referred to throughout the above description may be represented by voltage, current, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or magnetic particles, optical fields or photons, or any combination thereof.

[0118] In addition, terms used in this disclosure and terms necessary for understanding this disclosure may be replaced with terms having the same or similar meanings. For example, at least one of the channel and symbol may be a signal (signaling). Also, a signal may be a message. Furthermore, a component carrier (CC) may be called a carrier frequency, cell, frequency carrier, etc.

[0119] The terms “system” and “network” as used in this disclosure are interchangeable.

[0120] Furthermore, the information, parameters, etc., described in this disclosure may be expressed using absolute values, relative values from a given value, or other corresponding information. For example, wireless resources may be indicated by an index.

[0121] The names used for the parameters described above are not restrictive in any way. Furthermore, the formulas and other expressions using these parameters may differ from those expressly disclosed in this disclosure. Various channels (e.g., PUCCH, PDCCH, etc.) and information elements can be identified by any suitable name, and therefore, the various names assigned to these various channels and information elements are not restrictive in any way.

[0122] In this disclosure, terms such as "Base Station (BS)", "wireless base station", "base station equipment", "fixed station", "NodeB", "eNodeB (eNB)", "gNodeB (gNB)", "access point", "transmission point", "reception point", "transmission / reception point", "cell", "sector", "cell group", "carrier", and "component carrier" may be used interchangeably. Base stations may also be referred to by terms such as macrocell, small cell, femtocell, and picocell.

[0123] A base station can accommodate one or more (e.g., three) cells. If a base station accommodates multiple cells, the entire coverage area of the base station can be divided into multiple smaller areas, each of which may also be provided with communication services by a base station subsystem (e.g., a Remote Radio Head (RRH)). The terms “cell” or “sector” refer to part or all of the coverage area of at least one of the base station and / or base station subsystems that provide communication services in that coverage.

[0124] In this disclosure, the transmission of information by a base station to a terminal may be interpreted as the base station instructing the terminal to perform control or operation based on the information.

[0125] In this disclosure, terms such as "Mobile Station (MS)," "user terminal," "User Equipment (UE)," and "terminal" may be used interchangeably.

[0126] A mobile station may also be referred to by those skilled in the art as a subscriber station, mobile unit, subscriber unit, wireless unit, remote unit, mobile device, wireless device, wireless communication device, remote device, mobile subscriber station, access terminal, mobile terminal, wireless terminal, remote terminal, handset, user agent, mobile client, client, or several other appropriate terms.

[0127] At least one of the base station and the mobile station may be called a transmitting device, a receiving device, a communication device, etc. At least one of the base station and the mobile station may also be a device mounted on a mobile body, the mobile body itself, etc. The mobile body refers to a movable object, and its speed of movement is arbitrary. This also includes the case when the mobile body is stationary. The mobile body includes, but is not limited to, vehicles, transport vehicles, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, connected cars, excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, trains, buses, handcarts, rickshaws, ships and other watercraft, airplanes, rockets, satellites, drones (registered trademark), multicopters, quadcopters, balloons, and items mounted on them. The mobile body may also be a mobile body that moves autonomously based on operation commands. It may be a vehicle (e.g., a car, an airplane, etc.), an unmanned mobile body (e.g., a drone, an autonomous vehicle, etc.), or a robot (manned or unmanned). Furthermore, at least one of the base station and the mobile station may include devices that do not necessarily move during communication operations. For example, at least one of the base station and the mobile station may be an IoT (Internet of Things) device such as a sensor.

[0128] Furthermore, the term "base station" in this disclosure may be interpreted as "user terminal." For example, the various aspects / embodiments of this disclosure may be applied to a configuration in which communication between a base station and a user terminal is replaced with communication between multiple terminals 20 (which may be called, for example, D2D (Device-to-Device), V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything)). In this case, the terminals 20 may have the functions that the base station 10 has. Also, terms such as "uplink" and "downlink" may be interpreted as terms corresponding to terminal-to-terminal communication (for example, "side"). For example, uplink channel, downlink channel, etc., may be interpreted as side channel.

[0129] Similarly, the term "user terminal" in this disclosure may be replaced with "base station." In this case, the base station may be configured to have the same functions as the user terminal described above.

[0130] As used in this disclosure, the terms “determining” and “determining” may encompass a wide variety of actions. “Determining” may include, for example, judging, calculating, computing, processing, deriving, investigating, looking up, searching, or inquiring (e.g., searching in a table, database, or other data structure), or ascertaining. “Determining” may also include receiving (e.g., receiving information), transmitting (e.g., sending information), inputting, outputting, or accessing (e.g., accessing data in memory). Furthermore, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after resolving, selecting, choosing, establishing, comparing, etc. In other words, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after some action. Also, "judgment (decision)" can be reinterpreted as "assuming," "expecting," or "considering."

[0131] The terms “connected,” “coupled,” and any variations thereof mean any direct or indirect connection or coupling between two or more elements, and may include the presence of one or more intermediate elements between two elements that are “connected” or “coupled” with each other. The coupling or connection between elements may be physical, logical, or a combination thereof. For example, “connection” may be reinterpreted as “access.” As used in this disclosure, two elements may be considered to be “connected” or “coupled” with each other using at least one of one or more wires, cables, and printed electrical connections, and, in some non-limiting and non-exclusive examples, electromagnetic energy having wavelengths in the radio frequency domain, microwave domain, and optical (both visible and invisible) domain.

[0132] The reference signal can also be abbreviated as RS (Reference Signal), and may be called a pilot depending on the applicable standard.

[0133] In this disclosure, the phrase "based on" does not mean "based solely on" unless otherwise specified. In other words, the phrase "based on" means both "based solely on" and "based at least on."

[0134] Any reference to elements using the designations “first,” “second,” etc., as used in this disclosure does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. These designations may be used in this disclosure as a convenient way to distinguish between two or more elements. Accordingly, references to the first and second elements do not imply that only two elements may be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in any way.

[0135] In the configuration of each of the above devices, "means" may be replaced with "part," "circuit," "device," etc.

[0136] Where the terms “include,” “including,” and variations thereof are used in this disclosure, these terms are intended to be inclusive, as is the term “comprising.” Furthermore, the term “or” as used in this disclosure is not intended to mean exclusive OR.

[0137] A wireless frame may consist of one or more frames in the time domain. Each of these frames in the time domain may be called a subframe. A subframe may further consist of one or more slots in the time domain. A subframe may have a fixed time length (e.g., 1 ms) that is independent of numerology.

[0138] Numerical logic may be communication parameters applied to at least one of the transmission and reception of a signal or channel. Numerical logic may include, for example, at least one of the following: subcarrier spacing (SCS), bandwidth, symbol length, cyclic prefix length, transmission time interval (TTI), number of symbols per TTI, radio frame configuration, specific filtering processes performed by the transceiver in the frequency domain, and specific windowing processes performed by the transceiver in the time domain.

[0139] A slot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain (such as OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols, SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access) symbols, etc.). A slot may also be a time unit based on neurology.

[0140] A slot may include multiple minislots. Each minislot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain. Minislots may also be called subslots. Minislots may consist of fewer symbols than a slot. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted in a time unit larger than a minislot may be called a PDSCH (or PUSCH) mapping type A. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted using a minislot may be called a PDSCH (or PUSCH) mapping type B.

[0141] Wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols all represent units of time when transmitting a signal. Different names may be used for each of these terms.

[0142] For example, one subframe may be called a transmission time interval (TTI), multiple consecutive subframes may be called a TTI, or one slot or one minislot may be called a TTI. In other words, at least one of a subframe and a TTI may be a subframe in existing LTE (1 ms), a period shorter than 1 ms (e.g., 1-13 symbols), or a period longer than 1 ms. Note that the unit representing the TTI may be called a slot, minislot, etc., instead of a subframe.

[0143] Here, TTI refers to, for example, the smallest unit of time for scheduling in wireless communication. For example, in an LTE system, the base station schedules each terminal 20 to allocate wireless resources (such as the frequency bandwidth and transmission power available to each terminal 20) in TTI units. However, the definition of TTI is not limited to this.

[0144] TTI may be a transmission time unit for channel-encoded data packets (transport blocks), code blocks, code words, etc., or it may be a processing unit for scheduling, link adaptation, etc. Note that when a TTI is given, the actual time interval (e.g., number of symbols) in which the transport block, code block, code word, etc. are mapped may be shorter than the given TTI.

[0145] Furthermore, if one slot or one mini-slot is referred to as TTI, then one or more TTIs (i.e., one or more slots or one or more mini-slots) may constitute the minimum time unit of scheduling. In addition, the number of slots (number of mini-slots) that constitute the minimum time unit of scheduling may be controlled.

[0146] A TTI with a time length of 1 ms may be called a normal TTI (TTI in LTE Rel. 8-12), a regular TTI, a long TTI, a regular subframe, a long subframe, a slot, etc. A TTI shorter than a regular TTI may be called a shortened TTI, a short TTI, a partial or fractional TTI, a shortened subframe, a short subframe, a mini slot, a sub slot, a slot, etc.

[0147] Furthermore, long TTIs (e.g., normal TTIs, subframes, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a time length exceeding 1 ms, and short TTIs (e.g., shortened TTIs, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a TTI length less than that of a long TTI but 1 ms or more.

[0148] A resource block (RB) is a resource allocation unit in the time domain and frequency domain, and in the frequency domain, it may contain one or more consecutive subcarriers. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be the same regardless of the neurology, for example, 12. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be determined based on the neurology.

[0149] Furthermore, the time domain of the RB may contain one or more symbols and may be the length of one slot, one minislot, one subframe, or one TTI. One TTI, one subframe, etc., may each consist of one or more resource blocks.

[0150] One or more RBs may also be called a Physical RB (PRB), Sub-Carrier Group (SCG), Resource Element Group (REG), PRB pair, RB pair, etc.

[0151] Furthermore, a resource block may consist of one or more resource elements (REs). For example, one RE may be a radio resource area comprising one subcarrier and one symbol.

[0152] A Bandwidth Part (BWP), also known as a partial bandwidth, may represent a subset of consecutive common resource blocks (RBs) for a particular neurology in a given carrier. These common RBs may be identified by an index of the RBs relative to a common reference point of the carrier. The PRBs may be defined and numbered within a given BWP.

[0153] A BWP may include a BWP for UL (UL BWP) and a BWP for DL (DL BWP). One or more BWPs may be set within a single carrier for a UE.

[0154] At least one of the configured BWPs may be active, and the UE does not need to assume that it will transmit or receive a predetermined signal / channel outside of the active BWP. In this disclosure, terms such as "cell" and "carrier" may be read as "BWP".

[0155] The structures described above, such as wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols, are merely illustrative. For example, the number of subframes included in a wireless frame, the number of slots per subframe or wireless frame, the number of minislots included in a slot, the number of symbols and RBs included in a slot or minislot, the number of subcarriers included in an RB, and the number of symbols, symbol length, and cyclic prefix (CP) length within the TTI can be varied in various ways.

[0156] In this disclosure, if articles are added through translation, such as a, an, and the in English, this disclosure may include the fact that the noun following these articles is plural.

[0157] In this disclosure, the term "A and B are different" may mean "A and B are different from each other." The term may also mean "A and B are each different from C." Terms such as "separate" and "combine" may be interpreted similarly to "different."

[0158] Each aspect / embodiment described in this disclosure may be used individually, in combination, or switched between as needed during implementation. Furthermore, notification of specific information (e.g., notification that "X is") is not limited to explicit notification, but may also be implicit (e.g., by not providing such notification).

[0159] Although the present disclosure has been described in detail above, it will be clear to those skilled in the art that the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described herein. The present disclosure can be implemented in modified and altered forms without departing from the intent and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the claims. Therefore, the descriptions in the present disclosure are illustrative and not intended to be restrictive in any way.
