Description

Display device, system including display device, and control method for the same

[0001] The present invention proposes a display device or a control method for the same, and more specifically, a display device or a control method for the same for providing recommendation information for a user using streaming data.

[0002]

[0003] Home streaming services refer to services that enable the real-time consumption of various digital content at home via the Internet. These services provide media in diverse formats, including movies, TV programs, music, games, live events, and educational content. A key feature of streaming services is that data is transmitted in real-time, allowing for immediate playback without the need to download content.

[0004] Currently, when streaming content is played on a single device, recommendation information for the user cannot be displayed on that device while the content is playing. This not only interferes with the playback of the streaming content but can also create a negative perception among users that unnecessary advertisements are being shown.

[0005] Furthermore, recently, it has become a common trend to have various user devices placed within the home, and accordingly, the number of user devices playing streaming content is also increasing.

[0006] Therefore, we propose a user device that, in addition to the streaming service, can provide recommendation information related to the content being played on the streaming content playback device or the user who requested the streaming.

[0007]

[0008] The present invention proposes a display device for providing recommendation information for a user using streaming data, a system including the display device, or a control method for the same.

[0009] The problems to be solved by the present invention are not limited to the problems to be solved above, and other problems not mentioned will be clearly understood by those skilled in the art to which the present invention belongs from the description below.

[0010]

[0011] A display device configured to provide recommendation information to a user using streaming data according to the present invention is proposed, wherein the display device comprises: a memory configured to store code for obtaining recommendation information using streaming data; and a processor configured to execute the code stored in the memory to perform an operation for obtaining recommendation information using streaming data, wherein the operation may include collecting streaming data transmitted by a streaming request device to a content playback device, checking whether the user of the streaming request device is the same as the user of the display device based on the collected streaming data, and outputting recommendation information related to the streaming data or the user to a display as the streaming request device and the user of the display device are the same.

[0012] Additionally or alternatively, the above operation may include determining that the user of the streaming request device is the same as the user of the display device, based on the fact that the account information for the user stored in the memory contains information corresponding to the streaming request device included in the streaming data.

[0013] Additionally or alternatively, the above operation includes obtaining the streaming data or recommendation information related to the user, and the recommendation information related to the user may be obtained by analyzing the content usage history of another user device linked to account information for the user, including at least the display device or the streaming request device.

[0014] Additionally or alternatively, the operation may include generating account information for the user and storing the generated account information in the memory in response to a user account registration request from the user for providing recommendation information using the streaming data.

[0015] Additionally or alternatively, the operation may include, in response to the user account registration request, checking whether another user device is connected within the wireless local network to which the display device belongs, and if the other user device is connected to the same wireless local network as the display device, requesting the user to check whether the other user device belongs to the user.

[0016] Additionally or alternatively, the above operation may include storing information of the other user device along with account information for the user, depending on whether the other user device belongs to the user.

[0017] Additionally or alternatively, the above operation includes, upon receiving a connection request using a user account for the user, accessing a service or app providing recommendation information using the streaming data, and transmitting the account information for the user stored in the memory to another user device linked to the account information for the user that is connected to the same wireless local network as the display device, and the other user device may be configured to access the service or app providing recommendation information using the streaming data using the account information.

[0018] Additionally or alternatively, the operation may include receiving account information for the user from another user device connected to the same wireless local network as the display device, and using the account information to access a service or app providing recommendation information using the streaming data.

[0019] Additionally or alternatively, the account information may be transmitted directly between the display device and the other user device, or transmitted through an external device such as a server.

[0020] Additionally or alternatively, the streaming data may include identification information of the streaming requesting device.

[0021] According to another embodiment of the present invention, a method for providing recommendation information to a user using streaming data is proposed, the method may include: a step of collecting streaming data transmitted by a streaming request device to a content playback device; a step of determining whether the user of the streaming request device is the same as the user of the display device based on the collected streaming data; and a step of outputting recommendation information related to the streaming data or the user to a display as the streaming request device and the user of the display device are the same.

[0022] According to another embodiment of the present invention, a computer-readable medium is proposed that stores code configured to be executed by a computer or processor for a method of providing recommendation information to a user using streaming data.

[0047]

[0048] Figure 1 illustrates the arrangement of various user devices and the flow of data transmission and reception in a wireless local network.

[0049] FIG. 1 illustrates a wireless local network environment. Multiple user devices (10, 20, 30) can be connected to each other through a wireless router or an access point (AP) (40).

[0050] The user device (20) is shown streaming audio content to the user device (30) through a streaming service. The streaming of content according to the streaming service can be implemented in a manner where the streaming request device (i.e., user device (20)) transmits content data to the content playback device (i.e., user device (30)) through a router (40), or where the streaming request device (20) directly transmits content data to the content playback device (30). The present invention is not limited to such content streaming methods, but the present specification describes the present invention as using a content streaming method that utilizes a router (40).

[0051] In the present invention, another user device (10) receives content data transmitted by a streaming request device (20) to a router (40), and the user device (10) confirms that the streaming request device (20) and the user device (10) are connected as the same user or the same user account, and outputs streaming content data or recommendation information related to the user to the display or speaker of the user device (10).

[0052]

[0053] FIG. 2 illustrates a user interface component including recommendation information output to a display of a user device according to the present invention.

[0054] The user device (10) may include a display. The user device (10) will be described later with reference to FIG. 9.

[0055] The user device (10) may be configured to output a user interface component (1000) containing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user, obtained using content data transmitted by the streaming request device to the router, to a user interface on the display.

[0056] The user interface component (1000) may include a suggestion message UI (1010) that suggests outputting the recommendation information to the user device (10) or its display or speaker, as well as recommendation information. Additionally, the user interface component (1000) may include a user response UI (1020) for accepting or rejecting a suggestion based on the suggestion message (1010).

[0057] Meanwhile, the content data transmitted by the streaming request device to the router (or content playback device) may include metadata.

[0058] Metadata is supplementary information for streamed content and may include information about the content and / or playback information about the content. If the content is audio data, the information about the content may include at least one of a song title, artist, album name, and album art.

[0059] Additionally, the metadata may include at least one of identification information of a streaming request device (e.g., user device (20)), identification information of a streaming content playback device (e.g., user device (30)), information of an app or service that plays the streaming content, and identification information of the streaming content.

[0060] Identification information of a user device can be used to determine whether the user device is associated with the same user or the same user account.

[0061] Thus, the present invention can collect content data streamed through a user device that is not physically connected to the user device (10), and provide recommendation information related to the streaming content or recommendation information related to the user to the user based on the collected content data.

[0062] Hereinafter, a method for providing recommendation information related to streaming content or a user according to the present invention will be described in detail.

[0063]

[0064] FIG. 3 illustrates the procedure of a method for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention.

[0065] The first user device (10), the second user device (20), and the content playback device (30) are connected to or belong to the same wireless local network. A router (40) serves the wireless local network, but a description thereof will be omitted. The second user device (20) corresponds to the streaming request device described in FIG. 1, and the content playback device (30) corresponds to the content playback device described in FIG. 1. The first user device (10) corresponds to the user device described in FIG. 1.

[0066] Unlike the content playback device (30), the first user device (10) and the second user device (20) are equipped with a human-machine interface and can interact with the user (1). However, the user device equipped with the human-machine interface can perform the role of the content playback device (30).

[0067] A user (1), a first user device (10), and a second user device (20) may be configured to perform a user account registration procedure (S310). The user account registration procedure (S310) is a procedure for creating and registering a user account to use streaming content or a service or app related to recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention, and is a procedure for creating, acquiring, and storing information such as a user or user device in advance. Through the user account registration procedure (S310), information about another user device for a user belonging to the same wireless local network can be acquired and linked to a single user account.

[0068] That is, the user account registration procedure (S310) corresponds to a preliminary procedure necessary for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention.

[0069] When the user account registration procedure (S310) is completed, the user (1), the first user device (10), and the second user device (20) may be configured to perform a service access procedure (S320) using the user account. If the first user device (10) and the second user device (20) belong to the same user and are part of the same wireless local network, if a service access is performed on either of the two user devices (10, 20) through the access procedure (S320) using the user account, a service access is also possible on the other user device.

[0070] However, the service access procedure (S320) using a user account may be optionally performed in the method for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention. If it is possible to provide streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network even if all user devices (10, 20) participating in providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention are not connected to the service or app for this purpose, the service access procedure (S320) using a user account may not be an essential procedure. In this case, even if the first user device (10) or the second user device (20) is not connected to the service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention, if it is confirmed that they are connected to the same wireless local network and are user devices for the same user (1), it may be possible to provide streaming content or recommendation information related to a user. In this case, the service access procedure (S320) using a user account may have significance as providing a means to conveniently provide a service access procedure in a multi-user device environment.

[0071] The content streaming request and initiation procedure (S330) transmits a content streaming request from the second user device (20) to the content playback device (30) and, in response, causes the content to be played on the content playback device (30). Unlike what is illustrated, the first user device (10) may not participate in the content streaming request and initiation procedure (S330).

[0072] The first user device (10) collects content data transmitted from the second user device (20) to the content playback device (30), and can use this to obtain and provide content data or user-related recommendation information.

[0073] The content recommendation information provision procedure (S340) is a procedure for providing content data or user-related recommendation information obtained by the first user device (10) to the user. In this procedure, the first user device (10) may be configured to analyze content, usage patterns, etc., consumed by the user through a user device linked to a user account. Alternatively, an external server may be configured to analyze content, usage patterns, etc., consumed by the user through a user device linked to a user account. Content data or user-related recommendation information may be obtained from the analyzed information.

[0074] Referring to FIG. 4, the user account registration procedure (S310) will be described in detail; referring to FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, the connection procedure using the user account (S320) will be described in detail; referring to FIG. 7, the content streaming request and initiation procedure (S330) will be described in detail; and referring to FIG. 8, the content recommendation information provision procedure (S340) will be described in detail.

[0075]

[0076] FIG. 4 illustrates a user account registration procedure among the methods for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention. Although FIG. 4 illustrates or describes the same with respect to the first user device (10), the second user device (20) can also perform the operation of the first user device (10).

[0077] The first user device (10) can be configured to receive a user account registration request from the user (1) (S311).

[0078] The first user device (10) checks whether there is another user device in the wireless local network to which it belongs, and if there is another user device in the same wireless local network, it may be configured to store the identification information of the first user device (10) and the identification information of the other user device together when creating a user account. That is, information about the user device can be linked to the user account.

[0079] To this end, in response to a user account registration request, the first user device (10) may be configured to check the network connection status of the second user device (20). More specifically, the first user device (10) may be configured to transmit a network connection status request to the second user device (20) (S312). The network connection status request may be a request for a response regarding information about the wireless local network that the second user device (20) is connected to. Alternatively, the network connection status request may include information about the wireless local network that the first user device (10) is connected to, and may include a query to the second user device (20) regarding whether the wireless local network that the second user device (20) is connected to is the same as the wireless local network that the first user device (10) is connected to.

[0080] The first user device (10) may be configured to receive a network connection status response from the second user device (20) (S313). The network connection status response may include information about the wireless local network that the second user device (20) is currently connected to. Alternatively, the network connection status response may include information about whether the wireless local network that the second user device (20) is connected to is the same as the wireless local network that the first user device (10) is connected to.

[0081] The first user device (10) may be configured to transmit a request to the user (1) to verify whether the second user device (20) belongs to the user (1) (i.e., whether it is a device owned, controlled, or managed by the user (1)) (S314). The verification request according to S314 may be transmitted to the user (1) through a human-machine interface, such as a display of the first user device (10).

[0082] The first user device (10) may be configured to receive a response from the user (1) confirming whether the second user device (20) belongs to the user (1) (S315). The confirmation response according to S315 may be received through the detection of a user response via a human-machine interface, such as a display of the first user device (10).

[0083] The first user device (10) may be configured to generate an account database (DB) (or account information) containing user identification information or user-related information and identification information or first user device (10)-related information in response to a user account registration request from the user (1) (S316). The first user device (10) may be configured to store the account DB in a storage means such as its own memory.

[0084] Additionally, if the first user device (10) is part of the same wireless local network and the second user device (20) belongs to the user (1), the identification information of the second user device (20) or information related to the second user device (20) can be stored together in the account DB for the user (1).

[0085] As an example, the identification information of the first user device (10) or the second user device (20) may include at least one of a MAC address, a setting name, a product name, a model name, and an IMEI, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0086] The identification information of the user (1) may include at least one of a name, year of birth (age), nickname, and gender, but the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0087] For example, an account DB for the following users can be created and stored.

[0088] User Name Age Gender 1st User Device Information 2nd User Device Information MAC Address Product Name… … MAC Address Product Name… … James52Male 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E65OLED 00:2A:1B:2C:4D:2ELMP55… …

[0089] In addition, the account database for the user may include information for accessing a service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention, such as an encryption key or a password. Accordingly, it is possible to access a service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user by using the account database for the user.

[0090] The user account registration procedure according to FIG. 4 can provide a means to identify a user device owned by the user. In particular, since multiple user devices on the same wireless local network can be linked to a user account, the problem of user identification can be resolved when providing streaming content or user-related recommendation information in the future.

[0091]

[0092] FIGS. 5 and 6 illustrate a service access or login procedure using a user account among a method for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention. FIG. 5 or FIG. 6 corresponds to a procedure after the account DB described in FIG. 4 has been created.

[0093] FIG. 5 corresponds to a procedure in which a user (1) initiates a service access or login on a first user device (10), and FIG. 6 corresponds to a procedure in which a user (1) initiates a service access or login on a second user device (20). Unlike FIG. 4, the procedure according to FIG. 6 can be performed after an account DB for the user (1) is created on the second user device (20).

[0094] The procedure illustrated in FIG. 5 will be explained. In the explanation of FIG. 5, the first user device (10) will be the focus.

[0095] The first user device (10) may be configured to receive a request for access using a user account for a service or app to provide streaming content or recommendation information related to the user from the user (1) (S321). The request for access using a user account may include account information for the user (1).

[0096] The first user device (10) may be configured to access a service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention using a user account (S322). If the first user device (10) has account information for a user (1) stored in its memory, it may access the service or app using the stored account information for the user (1).

[0097] Then, the first user device (10) may be configured to detect whether there is another user device of the user (1) on the same wireless local network as itself (S323). That is, the first user device (10) may be configured to detect whether there is another user device to share the account DB for the user (1).

[0098] To explain in more detail, the first user device (10) can check information about other user devices linked to the account DB for the user (1). The first user device (10) may be configured to detect whether there are other user devices linked to the account DB for the user (1) in the wireless local network to which it belongs. If the second user device (20) is linked to the account DB for the user (1) and exists in the same wireless local network as the first user device (10), the first user device (10) may determine that the second user device (20) is a user device to share the account DB.

[0099] As the second user device (20) is determined to be a user device to share the account DB, the first user device (10) may be configured to transmit account DB information to the second user device (20) (S324). The transmission of account DB information may be performed directly or indirectly. That is, the first user device (10) may transmit account DB information directly to the second user device (20), or it may transmit it through an external device such as a server. If an app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention is installed on the first user device (10) and the second user device (20), account DB information for the user (1) may be transmitted through the app.

[0100] A second user device (20) that receives account DB information for a user (1) may be configured to use the account DB information to access a service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention (S325).

[0101] Additionally, the first user device (10) may be configured to receive a response regarding the transfer of the account DB from the second user device (20) (S326).

[0102] Additionally, the first user device (10) may be configured to transmit a connection response to a connection request (S321) using a user account to the user (1) (S327). The transmission of the connection response according to S327 may be transmitted to the user (1) through a human-machine interface, such as a display of the first user device (10).

[0103] The service access or login procedure using a user account according to Fig. 5 can complete the service or login procedure for all user devices on the same wireless local network of the same user upon the initiation of the service or login procedure using a single user device, thereby providing the user with the convenience of access or login in a multi-user device environment.

[0104]

[0105] The procedure illustrated in FIG. 6 will be explained. The explanation of FIG. 6 will focus on the second user device (20).

[0106] The second user device (20) may be configured to receive a request for access using a user account for a service or app to provide streaming content or recommendation information related to the user from the user (1) (S3210). The request for access using a user account may include account information for the user (1).

[0107] The second user device (20) may be configured to access a service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention using a user account (S3220). If the second user device (20) has account information for the user (1) stored in its memory, it may access the service or app using the stored account information for the user (1).

[0108] Then, the second user device (20) may be configured to detect whether there is another user device of the user (1) on the same wireless local network as itself (S3230). That is, the second user device (20) may be configured to detect whether there is another user device to share the account DB for the user (1).

[0109] To explain in more detail, the second user device (20) can check information about other user devices linked to the account DB for the user (1). The second user device (20) may be configured to detect whether there are other user devices linked to the account DB for the user (1) in the wireless local network to which it belongs. If the first user device (10) is linked to the account DB for the user (1) and exists in the same wireless local network as the second user device (20), the second user device (20) can determine that the first user device (10) is a user device to share the account DB.

[0110] As the first user device (10) is determined to be a user device to share the account DB, the second user device (20) may be configured to transmit account DB information to the first user device (10) (S3240). The transmission of account DB information may be performed directly or indirectly. That is, the second user device (20) may transmit account DB information directly to the first user device (10), or it may transmit it through an external device such as a server. If an app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention is installed on the second user device (20) and the first user device (10), account DB information for the user (1) may be transmitted through the app.

[0111] A first user device (10) that receives account DB information for a user (1) may be configured to use the account DB information to access a service or app for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to the user according to the present invention (S3250).

[0112] Additionally, the second user device (10) may be configured to receive a response regarding the transfer of the account DB from the first user device (10) (S3260).

[0113] Additionally, the second user device (20) may be configured to transmit a connection response to a connection request (S3210) using a user account to the user (1) (S3270). The transmission of the connection response according to S3270 may be transmitted to the user (1) through a human-machine interface, such as a display of the second user device (20).

[0114] The service access or login procedure using a user account according to FIG. 6 can complete the service or login procedure for all user devices on the same wireless local network of the same user upon the initiation of the service or login procedure using a single user device, thereby providing the user with the convenience of access or login in a multi-user device environment.

[0115]

[0116] Meanwhile, S323 or S3230 of FIG. 5 or FIG. 6 can be performed in a manner corresponding to S312 and S313 of FIG. 4. That is, two user devices can send and receive a network connection status request and response to check whether they are connected to the same wireless local network.

[0117] Additionally, S323 to S327 or S3230 to S3270 of FIG. 5 or FIG. 6 can also be performed as an interface method between physically close user devices.

[0118] For example, either the first user device (10) or the second user device (20) accesses a service or app using a user account for the user (1), and then recognizes a code (e.g., a QR code) displayed on the display of the user device that has not yet accessed the service or app. As a result of recognizing the code, user account information for the user (1) is transmitted from the user device to an external device such as a server, and once user account authentication is completed at the server, access to the service or app on the other user device is enabled. In this process, account DB information for the user (1) can also be transmitted from one user device to another user device.

[0119]

[0120] FIG. 7 illustrates a content streaming request and initiation procedure among a method for providing streaming content or recommendation information related to a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention.

[0121] The second user device (20) may be configured to receive a request for content streaming from the user (1) (S331). This may be done according to the user's commands, inputs, etc., through a human-machine interface such as a display of the second user device (20). The request for content streaming received from the user (1) may include information about the content playback device (30).

[0122] The second user device (20) can be configured to send a content streaming request to a content playback device (30) (S332).

[0123] Accordingly, the second user device (20) may be configured to receive content data to be streamed from a content providing server, etc., and to transmit it to a content playback device (30) (S333). The transmission of content data may be performed through a router serving a wireless local network.

[0124] The content playback device (30) may be configured to output the received content data to a display or speaker, etc. (S334).

[0125] Meanwhile, the content playback device (30) may include a device capable of outputting audio data or video data.

[0126]

[0127] FIG. 8 illustrates a procedure for obtaining user information from streaming data and providing content recommendation information for a user among a method for providing recommendation information related to streaming content or a user in a wireless local network according to the present invention.

[0128] FIG. 8 assumes a state (A) in which a second user device (20) is transmitting content data to a content playback device (30), and a state in which the content playback device (30) is outputting the received content data.

[0129] The first user device (10) may be configured to collect content data being transmitted from the second user device (20) to the content playback device (30) and to obtain information of the second user device (20) from the collected content data (S341).

[0130] The first user device (10) can determine whether the second user device (20) is a user device linked to the account DB for the user (1) (S342). The first user device (10) can determine whether the second user device (20) is a user device linked to the account DB of the user (1) based on the account DB stored in a storage medium such as its own memory.

[0131] A user device linked to the account DB of user (1) corresponds to a device that belongs to user (1) and is part of the same wireless local network as the first user device (10), as described above with reference to FIG. 4. If the second user device (20) corresponds to a user device for the same user (1), it is determined that the first user device (10) can provide content data being streamed or user-related recommendation information on the second user device (20).

[0132] However, since the wireless local network to which the second user device (20) belongs at the time of creation and storage of the account DB may have changed, the first user device (10) may be configured to detect whether the second user device (20) belongs to the same wireless local network as itself. In this case, the first user device (10) can check whether the second user device (20) is linked to the account DB for the user (1) and whether it belongs to the wireless local network to which it belongs. If the second user device (20) is linked to the account DB for the user (1) and belongs to the wireless local network to which the first user device (10) belongs, the first user device (10) can determine that the second user device (20) is a user device linked to the account DB of the user (1).

[0133] As the second user device (20) is a user device linked to an account DB for the user (1), the first user device (10) can obtain content data or user-related recommendation information collected above (S343).

[0134] To this end, the first user device (10) may obtain content data similar to the content data as content data-related recommendation information. Similar content may refer to content-related person information such as an artist, composer, lyricist, record company, label, director, producer, distributor, etc., or content-related classification information such as genre, etc.

[0135] The first user device (10) can obtain user-related recommendation information by analyzing the content usage history of the user device linked to user account information for a user (1) including at least the first user device (10) or the second user device (20).

[0136] The first user device (10) may be configured to provide the acquired recommendation information to the user (1) (S344). The provision of recommendation information according to S344 may be provided to the user (1) through a human-machine interface, such as a display of the first user device (10).
