[0007] BACKGROUNG-FIELD OF INVENTION

[0008] This invention relates to a cable clip, specifically to an Inline Cable Clip, which is a cable clip for which the cables are bound using individual cavities for each cable.

[0009] This invention discloses a Pocket Cavity for an Inline Cable Clip. A Pocket Cavity can be used to construct an Inline Cable Clip that can slide freely relative to its Thermocouple Cables when it is unlocked.

[0010] This allows a user to attach an Inline Cable Clip at a convenient location, such at the start-end or end-end of the Thermocouple Cables or adjacent to another Inline Cable Clip, and then allows the user to slide that Inline Cable Clip to its desired location before locking that Inline Cable Clip.

[0011] As such, this Inline Cable Clip can be slid into position prior to when the Thermocouple Cables are to be installed so as to measure temperature. So, there are shorter unbound Thermocouple Cables when the Thermocouple Cables are not used to measure temperature. This will solve the time-consuming problem of having Thermocouple Cables getting entangled

[0012] BACKGROUNG-DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART

[0013] Cavities of the Prior Art

[0014] The Pocket Cavity of this disclosure is for an Inline Cable Clip. An Inline Cable Clip was disclosed in Int. App. PCT / US25 / 15114.

[0015] In the prior arts, the cavities are all shaped as described in the following paragraphs below.

[0016] The prior arts show a circumferential cavity, which is shaped like a circumferential cavity into which a cable can be inserted. If this circumferential cavity only encloses half of the circumference of a cable, it will not be able to grip a cable. In order to be able to grip a cable, a circumferential cavity needs to encloses more than half of the circumference of a cable. And in order to insert a cable into circumferential cavity that encloses more than half of the circumference of a cable; that cable needs to be pressed-in, which will require considerable effort. This effort can make inserting and removing a cable frustrating and time consuming.

[0017] The prior arts also show a compartment cavity, which is shaped like an empty box. A compartment cavity is usually used to contain cables of different diameters, and a compartment cavity cannot keep a cable in its cavity by itself. Often times, only one Thermocouple Cable of an Inline Cable Clip fails, in this situation it is desirable that all Thermocouple Cables of that Inline Cable Clip are held in their cavities by themselves. Since otherwise all Thermocouple Cable might fall-out and need to be reinserted when that Inline Cable Clip is unlocked.

[0018] Inline Cable Clip of the Prior Art

[0019] Inline Cable Clip 1 of the prior art, which is Int. App. PCT / US25 / 15114, is shown in Fig. 1. It has two oppositely positioned rows of Cavities 3 shaped on a Cavity Block 2; one row is shaped on the rear-side of Cavity Block 2, and the other row is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2. Each Cavity 3 is for a cable, and all Cavities 3 are each for a cable of the same dimension.

[0020] Shaped to the rear of Cavity Block 2 is a Rear Strap 5, and shaped to the front of Cavity Block 2 is a Front Strap 6, see Fig. 1. An End Wall 7 is used to join Rear Strap 5 and Front Strap 6 to Cavity Block 2 at one end of Inline Cable Clip 1. Inline Cable Clip 1 has an openable-end, through which cables can be inserted, and a close-end. End Wall 7 shapes the close-end of Inline Cable Clip 1.

[0021] End Wall 7 extends to the rear and to the front of Cavity Block 2 at the closed-end of Inline Cable Clip 1 (see Fig. 1 ). The extension of End Wall 7 to the rear of Cavity Block 2 is used to join Rear Strap 5 to Cavity Block 2; and the extension of End Wall 7 to the front of Cavity Block 2 is used to join Front Strap 6 to Cavity Block 2.

[0022] End Wall 7 should be flexible enough so that Rear Strap 5 can be sufficiently separated from Cavity Block 2, so as to allow cables to be inserted between Rear Strap 5 and the rear-side of Cavity Block 2. And End Wall 7 should also be flexible enough so that Front Strap 6 can be sufficiently separated from Cavity Block 2, so as to allow cables to be inserted between Front Strap 6 and the front-side Cavity Block 2 (see Fig.

[0023] 3).Fixed to the rear end of End Wall 7 is a Tag 11. Tag 11 can be used to make notes to indicate which cable is located in which Cavity 3. Refer to Int. App. PCT / US25 / 15114 for an example.

[0024] In order to be able to lock Rear Strap 5 and Front Strap 6 to Cavity Block 2, a Clamping Surface 8 is shaped at the openable-end of Rear Strap 5 and Clamping Surface 9 is shaped at the openable-end of Front Strap 6.

[0025] Clamping Surface 8 and Clamping Surface 9, each have an indentation for a flexible strap, such as a rubber band for example, on their outer facing surfaces. So that a flexible strap can be used to lock Clamping Surface 8 and Clamping Surface 9 together; so as to lock Rear Strap 5 and Front Strap 6 to Cavity Block 2, which will keep the cables within Inline Cable Clip 1 locked. And to unlock Rear Strap 5 and Front Strap 6 from Cavity Block 2, so that cables can be removed from Inline Cable Clip 1 ; the “flexible strap that keeps Clamping Surface 8 and Clamping Surface 9 together” can simply be removed.

[0026] Shaped on the openable-end of Cavity Block 2 are two oppositely positioned Strap Rests 10. One Strap Rest 10 prevents Rear Strap 5 from applying any pressure on the cables that are inserted into Cavities 3 that are shaped on the rear-side of Cavity Block 2; and the other Strap Rest 10 prevents Front Strap 6 from applying any pressure on the cables that are inserted into Cavities 3 that are shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2.

[0027] Note, the Strap Rest 10 that prevents Front Strap 6 from applying any pressure on the cables that are inserted into Cavities 3 that that are shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2 is not essential and can be omitted; while the Strap Rest 10 that prevents Rear Strap 5 from applying any pressure on the cables that are inserted into Cavities 3 that are shaped on the rear-side of Cavity Block 2 is essential.

[0028] Additionally, a Strap Rest 10 is a surface that prevents Rear Strap 5 or Front Strap 6 from applying any pressure on the cables that are inserted into Cavities 3 that are facing the strap (Rear Strap 5 or Front Strap 6). It does not have to be “shaped” or “only be shaped” on the openable-end of Cavity Block 2 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. It can be also be shaped on the rear-end of Cavity Block 2, or the surfaces between Cavities 3 can be used as Strap Rests 10; although this not the case for the Inline Cable Clip 1 , as shown.

[0029] In order to have Front Strap 6 apply clamping pressure only on the cable that is inserted into the middle Cavity 3 of the row of Cavities 3 that is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2, a Protrusion 4 is shaped on Front Strap 6.

[0030] Protrusion 4 is a raised surface on “the surface of Front Strap 6 that is facing the middle Cavity 3 of the row of Cavities 3 that is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block2”. Protrusion 4 is thick enough and its width is limited so that when Front Strap 6 is locked to Cavity Block 2; Front Strap 6, through Protrusion 4, only applies clamping pressure on the cable that is inserted into the middle Cavity 3 of the row of Cavities 3 that is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2.

[0031] Unlike the prior arts, Inline Cable Clip 1 only has one protrusion, which is labeled Protrusion 4. So that only one cable is gripped by Inline Cable Clip 1 when Inline Cable Clip 1 is locked. This will help fix Inline Cable Clip 1 longitudinally relative to its cables, while allowing the bound cables to be flexible so that they can be easily transported and placed into their designated location.

[0032] BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION A Pocket Cavity for Thermocouple Cables, which has the following benefits over the prior arts; a) a Thermocouple Cable can be effortlessly inserted into a Pocket Cavity; b) a Pocket Cavity can hold its Thermocouple Cable securely in place by itself; c) a Pocket Cavity is shaped so that it holds its Thermocouple Cable very loosely.

[0033] Pocket Cavities that can hold their Thermocouple Cables very loosely allow for an Inline Cable Clip that can slide freely relative to its Thermocouple Cables. This allows for the creation of an improved Inline Cable Clip.

[0034] The improved Inline Cable Clip can be locked and unlocked; when locked the improved Inline Cable Clip is slide-ably fixed relative to its Thermocouple Cables, and when unlocked the Inline Cable Clip can slide freely relative to its Thermocouple Cables. This allows a user to attach the improved Inline Cable Clip at a convenient location, such at the start-end or end-end of the Thermocouple Cables, and then slide and lock the improved Inline Cable Clip into position prior to when the Thermocouple Cables are to be installed so as to measure temperature.

[0042] Fig. 7 shows a Thermocouple Cable 16 where its major diameter is in the horizontal position and its minor diameter is in the vertical position.Fig. 8 shows a Thermocouple Cable 16 where its major diameter is in the vertical position and its minor diameter is in the horizontal position.

[0043] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0044] Cavity of this Disclosure (Pocket Cavity 12)

[0045] As a background, a Thermocouple Cable has a width (major diameter) and height (minor diameter); and its major diameter is wider than its minor diameter. As an example, Fig. 7 shows a Thermocouple Cable 16 where its major diameter is in the horizontal position and its minor diameter is in the vertical position; and Fig. 8 shows a Thermocouple Cable 16 where its major diameter is in the vertical position and its minor diameter is in the horizontal position.

[0046] An Inline Cable Clip 1 A that uses a Pocket Cavity 12 for Thermocouple Cables is shown in Figs. 4 to 6. A Pocket Cavity 12 has a Pocket 13 and a Throat 14, see Fig. 6.

[0047] Pocket 13 is wide enough to contain the major diameter of a Thermocouple Cable. And Throat 14 is narrower than the major diameter of a Thermocouple Cable, but wide enough so that the minor diameter of a Thermocouple Cable can be inserted through it. So that a Thermocouple Cable can be inserted into Pocket 13 by twisting it to a vertical position (see Fig. 8), such that the minor diameter of a Thermocouple Cable can be inserted through Throat 14 into Pocket 13.

[0048] Pocket 13 is also shaped so that a Thermocouple Cable that is positioned inside a Pocket 13 can be rotated from a vertical position (see Fig. 7) to a horizontal position (see Fig. 8). And Pocket 13 is also shaped so that it holds its Thermocouple Cable loosely, so as to allow its Thermocouple Cable to slide freely relative to it.

[0049] Once a Thermocouple Cable has been inserted into a Pocket 13, because of its natural initial alignment, it will twist-back to its “untwisted position”. Its “untwisted position” is a position where the major diameter of a Thermocouple Cable is positioned so that it is rotated 90 degrees from the length of its Throat 14. The major diameter of a Thermocouple Cable is wider than the width of a Throat 14, and this will prevent a Thermocouple Cable from exiting its Pocket 13 through its Throat 14.

[0050] For cable cavities that are designed to hold a cable; the prior arts all show a circumferential cavity that extends slightly more than half of the height of a cable, which need to flex so that a cable can be inserted into them. Flexing a cavity takes considerable effort especially if that cavity needs to hold a cable loosely. It would be very impractical to design a circumferential cavity for holding a cable loosely.Compared to the prior art, a Thermocouple Cable can be easily be inserted into a Pocket Cavity 12 while allowing that Thermocouple Cable to slide without any resistance relative to that Pocket Cavity 12.

[0051] Inline Cable Clip of this Application (Inline Cable Clip 1A)

[0052] Inline Cable Clip 1 A that is claimed by this application is shown in Fig. 4. It has two oppositely positioned rows of Pocket Cavities 12 shaped on a Cavity Block 2A; one row is shaped on the rear-side of Cavity Block 2A, and the other row is shaped on the frontside of Cavity Block 2A. Each Pocket Cavity 12 is for a Thermocouple Cable, and all Pocket Cavities 12 are each for a Thermocouple Cable of the same dimension.

[0053] Additionally, each Pocket Cavity 12 is also shaped so that it holds its Thermocouple Cable loosely, so as to allow its Thermocouple Cable to slide freely relative to it.

[0054] Shaped to the rear of Cavity Block 2A is a Rear Strap 5A, and shaped to the front of Cavity Block 2A is a Front Strap 6A, see Fig. 4. An End Wall 7A is used to join Rear Strap 5A and Front Strap 6A to Cavity Block 2A at one end of Inline Cable Clip 1 A.

[0055] Inline Cable Clip 1 A has an openable-end, through which Thermocouple Cables can be inserted, and a close-end; End Wall 7A shapes the close-end of Inline Cable Clip 1 A.

[0056] End Wall 7A extends to the rear and to the front of Cavity Block 2A at the closed-end of Inline Cable Clip 1 A (see Fig. 4). The extension of End Wall 7A to the rear of Cavity Block 2A is used to join Rear Strap 5A to Cavity Block 2A; and the extension of End Wall 7A to the front of Cavity Block 2A is used to join Front Strap 6A to Cavity Block 2A.

[0057] End Wall 7A should be flexible enough so that Rear Strap 5A can be sufficiently separated from Cavity Block 2A, so as to allow Thermocouple Cables to be inserted between Rear Strap 5A and the rear-side of Cavity Block 2A. And End Wall 7A should also be flexible enough so that Front Strap 6A can be sufficiently separated from Cavity Block 2A, so as to allow Thermocouple Cables to be inserted between Front Strap 6A and the front-side Cavity Block 2A (see Fig. 6).

[0058] Fixed to the rear end of End Wall 7A is a Tag 11 A. Tag 11 A can be used to make notes to indicate which Thermocouple Cable is located in which Pocket Cavity 12. Refer to Int. App. PCT / US25 / 15114 for an example.

[0059] Rear Strap 5A and Front Strap 6A are preferably fixed to End Wall 7A so that in their natural unlocked shape, they are sufficiently separated from Cavity Block 2A so that Thermocouple Cables can be easily inserted into Cavity Block 2A. Fig. 6 shows an example of a natural unlocked shape of an Inline Cable Clip 1A. When unlocked, Inline Cable Clip 1 A can be slid relative to its Thermocouple Cables by gripping Tag 11 A.In order to be able to lock Rear Strap 5A and Front Strap 6A to Cavity Block 2A, a Clamping Surface 8A is shaped at the openable-end of Rear Strap 5A and Clamping Surface 9A is shaped at the openable-end of Front Strap 6A.

[0060] Clamping Surface 8A and Clamping Surface 9A, each have an indentation for a flexible strap, such as a rubber band for example, on their outer facing surfaces. So that a flexible strap can be used to lock Clamping Surface 8A and Clamping Surface 9A together; so as to lock Rear Strap 5A and Front Strap 6A to Cavity Block 2A, which will keep the Thermocouple Cables within Inline Cable Clip 1 A locked. And to unlock Rear Strap 5A and Front Strap 6A from Cavity Block 2A, so that Thermocouple Cables can be removed from Inline Cable Clip 1 A; the “flexible strap that keeps Clamping Surface 8A and Clamping Surface 9A together” can simply be removed.

[0061] The surfaces between Pocket Cavities 12 are labeled as Resting Surfaces 15 in Fig.

[0062] 4. Resting Surfaces 15 can be used to prevent Rear Strap 5A and Front Strap 6A from applying any pressure on the Thermocouple Cables that are inserted into Pocket Cavities 12. Resting Surfaces 15 are basically the “Strap Rests 10 of Inline Cable Clip 1” for Inline Cable Clip 1 A.

[0063] In order to have Front Strap 6A apply clamping pressure only on the Thermocouple Cable that is inserted into the middle or near middle Pocket Cavity 12 of the row of Pocket Cavities 12 that is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2A, a Protrusion 4A is shaped on Front Strap 6A.

[0064] Protrusion 4A is a raised surface on “the surface of Front Strap 6A that is facing the middle or near middle Pocket Cavity 12 of the row of Pocket Cavities 12 that is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2A”. Protrusion 4A is thick enough and its width is limited so that when Front Strap 6A is locked to Cavity Block 2A; Front Strap 6A, through Protrusion 4A, only applies clamping pressure on the Thermocouple Cable that is inserted into the middle or near middle Pocket Cavity 12 of the row of Pocket Cavities 12 that is shaped on the front-side of Cavity Block 2A.

[0065] Unlike the prior arts, Inline Cable Clip 1 A only has one protrusion, which is labeled Protrusion 4A. So that only one Thermocouple Cable is gripped by Inline Cable Clip 1A when Inline Cable Clip 1 A is locked. This will help fix Inline Cable Clip 1 A longitudinally relative to its Thermocouple Cables, while allowing the bound Thermocouple Cables to be flexible so that they can be easily transported and placed into their designated location.

[0066] Unlike Inline Cable Clip 1 , Inline Cable Clip 1 A can slide freely relative to its Thermocouple Cables when it is unlocked; since each Thermocouple Cable can freely slide within its Pocket Cavity 12, while also being held securely within its Pocket Cavity12. The loose cavities of Inline Cable Clip 1 are only meant to allow easy bending of the bound Thermocouple Cables.

[0067] As such, unlike Inline Cable Clip 1 ; this allows a user to attach an Inline Cable Clip 1 A at a convenient location, such at the start-end or end-end of the Thermocouple Cables or adjacent to another Inline Cable Clip 1A, and then allows the user to slide that Inline Cable Clip 1 A to its desired location before locking that Inline Cable Clip 1 A.

[0068] PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION (BEST MODE)

[0069] The preferred embodiment of the invention is a Pocket Cavity 12 and an Inline Cable Clip 1A.
