Abstract

A user equipment (UE), baseband processor, and network device are described. The UE and / or baseband processor can receive first semi-static signaling configuring a first and second subset of serving cells for communications. Second semi-static signaling may be received that configures a first set of demodulation reference signal (DMRS) resources for the reception of DMRS encoded according to a first set of orthogonal cover codes (OCC) having a first length, and a second set for a second set of OCC having a second length. A downlink control information (DCI) message may be received that schedules communications on multiple serving cells, an antenna port field indicating a single codepoint that identifies a set of DMRS configurations using a reference serving cell. The DMRS configuration including DMRS antenna port (s) for the communications on the plurality of serving cells uses the DMRS resources according to the codepoint for the reference serving cell.

Description

DEMODULATION REFERENCE SIGNAL SIGNALING WITH MULTIPLE CELL SCHEDULING BY A SINGLE DOWNLINK CONTROL INFORMATION MESSAGETECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] This application relates generally to wireless communication systems, including systems, apparatuses, and methods for demodulation reference signal signaling with multiple cell scheduling by a single downlink control information message.BACKGROUND

[0002] Wireless mobile communication technology uses various standards and protocols to transmit data between a network device (e.g., a base station, a radio head, etc. ) and a wireless communication device. Wireless communication system standards and protocols can include, for example, 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) long term evolution (LTE) (e.g., 4G) , 3GPP new radio (NR) (e.g., 5G) , and IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless local area networks (WLAN) (commonly known to industry groups as ) .

[0003] As contemplated by the 3GPP, different wireless communication systems standards and protocols can use various radio access networks (RANs) for communicating between a network device of the RAN (which may also sometimes be referred to generally as a RAN node, a network node, or simply a node) and a wireless communication device known as a user equipment (UE) . 3GPP RANs can include, for example, global system for mobile communications (GSM) , enhanced data rates for GSM evolution (EDGE) RAN (GERAN) , Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) , Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) , and / or Next-Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN) .

[0004] Each RAN may use one or more radio access technologies (RATs) to perform communication between the network device and the UE. For example, the GERAN implements GSM and / or EDGE RAT, the UTRAN implements universal mobile telecommunication system (UMTS) RAT or other 3GPP RAT, the E-UTRAN implements LTE RAT (sometimes simply referred to as LTE) , and NG-RAN implements NR RAT (sometimes referred to herein as 5G RAT, 5G NR RAT, or simply NR) . In certain deployments, the E-UTRAN may also implement NR RAT. In certain deployments, NG-RAN may also implement LTE RAT.

[0005] A network device used by a RAN may correspond to that RAN. One example of an E-UTRAN network device is an E-UTRAN Node B (also commonly denoted as evolved Node B, enhanced Node B, eNodeB, or eNB) . One example of an NG-RAN network device is a next generation Node B (also sometimes referred to as a g Node B or gNB) .

[0006] A RAN provides its communication services with external entities through its connection to a core network (CN) . For example, E-UTRAN may utilize an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) , while NG-RAN may utilize a 5G Core Network (5GC) .BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0016] Various embodiments are described with regard to a processor (e.g., baseband processor) , wireless device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) ) , or a network device. However, reference to a processor, wireless device, or network device is merely provided for illustrative purposes. The example embodiments may be utilized with any electronic component or device that may establish a wireless connection and is configured with the hardware, software, and / or firmware to exchange information and data over the wireless connection. Therefore, the processors, wireless devices, and network devices described herein are used to represent any appropriate electronic components or devices.

[0017] In some wireless communication networks, a UE may communicate with a network device using multiple serving cells. Such serving cells may be used for uplink communications, downlink communications, or both. Uplink data may be transmitted on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) . Downlink data may be transmitted on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) . A network device may schedule a PUSCH or PDSCH using a downlink control information (DCI) message. In the case of multiple serving cells, a DCI format for scheduling multiple cells may be used (e.g., multi-carrier or cross-carrier scheduling) . For example, DCI format 0_3 may be used for the scheduling of one PUSCH in one cell, or multiple PUSCHs in multiple cells with one PUSCH per cell. Similarly, DCI format 1_3 may be used for the scheduling of one PDSCH in one cell, or multiple PDSCHs in multiple cells with one PDSCH per cell.

[0018] Demodulation reference signals (DMRS) are transmitted with a PUSCH and / or PDSCH to aid the reception of the PUSCH and / or PDSCH at the receiver. In a wireless communications system using multiple input multiple output (MIMO) communication techniques, data streams on multiple different MIMO layers may be used (e.g., to increase throughput) . As such, multiple DMRS ports may be used, different DMRS ports associated with the different MIMO layers. In some cases, each layer may be associated with a different DMRS port. A receiver of the MIMO signal may then perform channel estimation for each layer (and thus the entire channel) using the DMRS from each of the DMRS ports.

[0019] In some cases, a DCI message that schedules a PUSCH or PDSCH may include an indication of the antenna port configuration to be used for the PUSCH or PDSCH. The antenna port configuration field of the DCI message may indicate which antenna ports are used to transmit the associated data of the PUSCH or PDSCH, and thus the DMRS. In a MIMO system, the DMRS that are transmitted may be orthogonal to each other in order to decrease the inference between DMRS (e.g., and increase the quality and accuracy of channel estimation) . In addition to transmitting DMRS on orthogonal time and / or frequency resources, DMRS may be encoded using orthogonal cover codes (OCC) in order to increase the number of orthogonal DMRS available for transmission. In some cases, the length of the OCC may be two (e.g., length 2 FD-OCC) , and a quantity of orthogonal DMRS available doubled. For example, two DMRS may be multiplexed to the same time-frequency resource using an OCC of length two. In another example, an OCC of length four may be used for DMRS (e.g., length 4 FD-OCC) , and four DMRS may be multiplexed to the same time-frequency resource using an OCC of length four. As such, an increase in the length of OCC may provide for an increased quantity of DMRS.

[0020] Difficulties may arise, however, when an increased quantity of DMRS ports are configured in a system where scheduling of multiple cells is performed using a single DCI message (e.g., a DCI format 0_3 or DCI format 1_3) . For example, a size and complexity of the DCI message may be increased unsatisfactorily if the DMRS configuration for each different serving cell being scheduled by the DCI message. In order to control the amount of management overhead due to control signaling, it may be preferred by network operators to maintain a small DCI message size. In other words, a large DCI format is undesirable. As such, it may be desired to implement techniques to communicate DMRS configurations applicable to each of the serving cells scheduled by a multiple cell DCI message without increasing the size of the DCI message.

[0021] According to one or more techniques described herein, a UE (and / or a baseband processor) can receive first semi-static signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) signaling, or other configuration signaling) configuring a first and second subset of serving cells for communications. Second semi-static signaling (e.g., RRC signaling, or other configuration signaling) may be received that configures a first set of DMRS resources for the reception of DMRS encoded according to a first set of OCC having a first length, and a second set for a second set of OCC having a second length. A DCI may be received that schedules communications on multiple serving cells, an antenna port field indicating a single codepoint that identifies a set of DMRS configurations using a reference serving cell. The DMRS configuration for the communications on the plurality of serving cells uses the DMRS resources according to the codepoint for the reference serving cell. The DMRS configuration may include (e.g., identify or indicate) one or more DMRS antenna ports for the communications (e.g., transmission or receptions) to be performed.

[0022] According to one or more additional techniques described herein, a UE (and / or a baseband processor) can receive first semi-static signaling configuring a first and second subset of serving cells for communications. Second semi-static signaling may be received that configures a first set of DMRS resources for the reception of DMRS encoded according to a first set of OCC having a first length, and a second set for a second set of OCC having a second length. A DCI may be received that schedules communications on multiple serving cells, an antenna port field indicating a single codepoint. The UE and / or baseband processor may then select, according to the single codepoint indicated by the DCI, a DMRS configuration including one or more DMRS antenna ports for the transmissions or receptions on each serving cell scheduled by the DCI message. The selection of the DMRS configuration may be based at least in part on a co-scheduling restriction for the first DMRS (encoded according to the first set of OCCs) and second DMRS (encoded according to the second set of OCCs. The co-scheduling restriction, as user herein, may refer to a network device not being allowed to configure (and a UE not being expected to be configure) cells from both first subset of serving cells and the second subset of serving cells (i.e., the DCI message can schedule either cells from first subset with DMRS type corresponding to OCC with a first length (e.g., FD-OCC 2) or from a second subset within a set of cells with DMRS type corresponding to OCC with a second length (e.g., FD-OCC 4) . The selected DMRS configuration may then be used for uplink transmissions to a network device (if the DCI message scheduled a PUSCH) or to receive on a downlink from the network device (if the DCI message scheduled a PDSCH) . The DMRS configuration may include (e.g., identify or indicate) one or more DMRS antenna ports for the communications (e.g., transmission or receptions) to be performed.

[0023] FIG. 1 shows an example wireless communications system 100, according to one or more aspects described herein. In one or more embodiments, wireless communications system 100 supports one or more aspects of demodulation reference signal signaling with multiple cell scheduling by a single downlink control information message, as further described herein.

[0024] Wireless communications system 100 includes a UE 102 and a network device 104. One or more UEs, including the UE 102, may be being served by (e.g., has an established radio resource control (RRC) connection with) the network device 104 via a communication link 130. In one or more embodiments, a communication link 130 may include a downlink connection and / or uplink connection. Coverage area 110 (e.g., a cell or serving cell) is the service area for the radio frequency (RF) spectrum band utilized by network device 104. In some examples, the network device 104 may communicate with the UE 102 using a set of beams 106.

[0025] The UE 102 may be configured to communicate on multiple serving cells with the network device 104. In the example of wireless communications system 100, four serving cells are shown, including serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and serving cell 118. A first subset 132 of the serving cells (e.g., including serving cell 112 and serving cell 114) may be configured to use DMRS configurations using OCC of a first length (e.g., OCC 4) , and a second subset 134 of the serving cells (e.g., including serving cell 116 and serving cell 118) may be configured to use DMRS configurations using OCC of a second length (e.g., OCC 2) . In some examples, the first length may be greater than the second length. In other examples, the second length may be greater than the first length. Communications 122 on the serving cell 112 may include uplink data communications on a PUSCH and / or downlink data communications on a PDSCH. Communications 124 on the serving cell 114 may include uplink data communications on a PUSCH and / or downlink data communications on a PDSCH. Communications 126 on the serving cell 116 may include uplink data communications on a PUSCH and / or downlink data communications on a PDSCH. Communications 128 on the serving cell 118 may include uplink data communications on a PUSCH and / or downlink data communications on a PDSCH.

[0026] An example DMRS configuration for communications 128 for the serving cell 118 is shown, including one or more DMRS antenna ports for communication. As shown, for communications 128, a first set of DMRS resources include DMRS 142 using a first code value (e.g., DMRS corresponding to code index 0 of the OCC) according to the OCC of the second length mapped to resource elements of the resource grid, and a second set of DMRS resources include DMRS 144 using a second code value (e.g., DMRS corresponding to code index 1) according to the OCC of the second length mapped to resource elements of the resource grid. Data 140, whether on a PUSCH for uplink or PDSCH for downlink, are mapped to resources around the DMRS 142 and DMRS 144.

[0027] The example shown for communications 128 may use a DMRS configuration having an OCC of the second length. Similar, communications 126 for the serving cell 116 may also use a DMRS configuration having an OCC of the second length. As indicated above, the communications 122 for the serving cell 112 and communications 124 for the serving cell 114 may use a DMRS configuration having an OCC of the first length, for example, length four of an OCC 4.

[0028] A DCI message 120 may be used by the network device 104 to schedule communications on any one or more of serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and / or serving cell 118 using multi-cell or cross-carrier scheduling. In some examples, the DCI message 120 may schedule a PUSCH on multiple serving cells using a DCI format for uplink multi-cell scheduling (e.g., DCI format 0_3) . In other examples, the DCI message 120 may schedule a PDSCH on multiple serving cells using a DCI format for downlink multi-cell scheduling (e.g., DCI format 1_3) .

[0029] The DCI message 120 may include an antenna port field. The UE 102 may be configured with a set of DMRS configurations for each serving cell. The antenna port field may be used to indicate to the UE 102 the DMRS configuration that the UE 102 is to use by reference to a table consistent with DMRS configuration. The antenna port field of the DCI message may be a codepoint to the table of DMRS configurations for a particular serving cell.

[0030] The antenna port field may be configured as different types. In some examples (e.g., when antenna port (s) field in DCI format 1_3 is configured as type1a) , the UE 102 may expect to be configured with a common table that is used for all cells in the set of cells (e.g., for all of serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and serving cell 118) . The DMRS mapping type should be the same across the cells in a set of serving cells. Similarly, when antenna port (s) field in DCI format 0_3 is configured as type1a, the UE expects to be configured with a common table used for all cells in set of serving cells. The DMRS mapping type should be the same across the cells in set of serving cells.

[0031] According to a first set of examples, a UE 102 may be configured with multi-cell scheduling for a set of cells (e.g., for all of serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and serving cell 118) for PUSCH and / or PDSCH via DCI format 0_3 and DCI format 1_3, respectively. In some examples, the UE 102 may also be configured as type-2 field for the DMRS antenna port indication field (e.g., of a DCI message 120) . The UE 102 may also be configured with a DMRS type that uses the first length for OCC (e.g., DMRS ports with FD-OCC 4) for a first subset 132 of serving cells within the set of cells and with a DMRS type that uses the second length for OCC (e.g., DMRS ports with FD-OCC 2) for a second subset 134 of cells within the set of cells. In such case, with different length OCC configured for different serving cells, the UE 102 may not be expected to be co-scheduled (e.g., by the network device 104) with cells from both first subset 132 of cells and second subset 134 of cells. That is, the DCI message 120 can schedule either cells from first subset 132 with DMRS type corresponding to FD-OCC 4, or from second subset 134 within a set of cells with DMRS type corresponding to FD-OCC 2. That is, the UE 102 may be restricted to schedule via the multi-cell DCI (e.g., DCI message 120) only serving cells using the same DMRS OCC type. In some examples, other aspects of the DMRS configuration (including one or more DMRS antenna port configurations) may be different between different serving cells scheduled by the DCI message 120.

[0032] According to another set of examples, the UE 102 may be scheduled with one or more serving cells from each of the first subset 132 of cells and second subset 134 of cells, and the DMRS type configured for the DCI message 120 on serving cell 112 (e.g., the “scheduling cell” ) is used for all the co-scheduled cells (the one or more serving cells) . The DCI message 120 may include an antenna port indication field, and the indicated DMRS antenna port indication field is used by the UE 102 to point to the row of the DMRS table configured for the scheduling cell. The ports indicated by the DMRS table at the indicate row are then used for all the co-scheduled cells. That is, the DCI message 120 is received on the serving cell 112 (and the serving cell 112 is thus the “reference cell” for purposes of determining the DMRS configuration) . The serving cell 112 is associated with a particular set of DMRS configurations via a DMRS table. This DMRS table is used for the DMRS configuration for each of the serving cells scheduled by the DCI message 120. If the DCI message 120 co-schedules each of the serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and serving cell 118, then the same DMRS table is used for configuration for each of these serving cells.

[0033] According to yet another set of examples, the UE 102 may receive the DCI message 120 on the serving cell 112, but the reference cell may be different from the scheduling cell. In some examples, the reference cell may be pre-defined (e.g., preconfigured, or otherwise fixed) . In one example, the reference cell may be a lowest cell index among the plurality of serving cells scheduled by the DCI message 120. In other examples, the reference cell may be a highest cell index among the plurality of serving cells scheduled by the DCI message 120. In other examples, the reference cell may be a lowest cell index among the first subset of serving cells corresponding to the first set of orthogonal cover codes having the first length (e.g., DMRS type with FD-OCC 4) . In other examples, the reference cell may be a lowest cell index among the first subset of serving cells corresponding to the first set of orthogonal cover codes having the second length (e.g., DMRS type with FD-OCC 2) . In other examples, the reference cell may be a highest cell index among the first subset of serving cells corresponding to the first set of orthogonal cover codes having the second length (e.g., DMRS type with FD-OCC 2) . In some examples, the reference serving cell may be configured via a control message from the network device 104 identifying the reference serving cell for the UE 102 to use to identify the set of DMRS configurations (e.g., a set of DMRS antenna port (s) , from which the DMRS antenna port (s) for the communication are selected) .

[0034] In some examples, the UE 102 may be configured with multi-cell scheduling for a set of cells (e.g., for all of serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and serving cell 118) for PUSCH and / or PDSCH via DCI format 0_3 and DCI format 1_3, respectively. According to one or more scheduling restrictions, then UE 102 may not be expected to be configured with different DMRS types corresponding to different FD-OCC lengths for the set of cells of the communication link 130.

[0035] In some cases, the UE 102 may be restricted to be either configured with enhanced DMRS type with FD-OCC 4 for all the cells within the set of cells or configured with legacy DMRS type with FD-OCC 2 for all the cells within the set of cells. In some cases, in the UE is configured according to a first type, then the UE 102 may expect to be configured such that the antenna ports field of the DCI message 120 refers to a common DMRS table that is used for all of the serving cells of the set of cells (e.g., for all of serving cell 112, serving cell 114, serving cell 116, and serving cell 118) . In some cases, the DMRS mapping type is the same across all the serving cells of the set of cells. In a specific example, if for certain cells within the set of serving cells, an enhanced DMRS type is configured (but not for all serving cells) , then the enhanced DMRS type configuration for those serving cells can be disregarded and the common DMRS table may be applied.

[0036] FIG. 2 shows an example communication flow 200, according to one or more aspects described herein. In one or more embodiments, communication flow 200 supports one or more aspects of demodulation reference signal signaling with multiple cell scheduling by a single downlink control information message, as further described herein.

[0037] At 202, the UE 102 may transmit UE capability signaling to the network device 104. In some examples, if the UE 102 supports the configuration of different DMRS types corresponding to different FD-OCC lengths for multiple cells configured within a set of cells for multi-cell scheduling via single DCI, then the UE 102 reports an indication of a joint capability for both PDSCH and PUSCH. In some cases, the UE 102 may transmit, to the network device 104, UE capability signaling identifying a capability of the UE 102 to be configured with the first set of DMRS resources using the first set of orthogonal cover codes having a first length for the second subset of serving cells, and the second set of DMRS resources using the second set of orthogonal cover codes having the second length for the second subset of serving cells. The UE capability signaling may include the capability as a joint capability applicable for both PDSCH signaling and PUSCH signaling.

[0038] In other cases, the UE 102 reports a separate capability is reported for PDSCH and PUSCH. The UE capability signaling may include the capability as a first capability for PDSCH signaling and a second capability for PUSCH signaling.

[0039] In some examples, if the UE 102 supports the configuration and indication of different DMRS types corresponding to different FD-OCC lengths for multiple cells configured within a set of cells for multi-cell scheduling via single DCI, then the UE 102 reports an indication of a joint capability for both PDSCH and PUSCH. In some examples, the UE capability signaling further includes an indication that the UE is capable of configuring, based at least in part on the DCI message, the DMRS configuration including one or more DMRS antenna ports for the transmissions or receptions on each serving cell of the plurality of serving cells scheduled by the DCI message. The UE capability signaling may include the capability for both configuration and indication as a joint capability applicable for both PDSCH signaling and PUSCH signaling. In other cases, the UE 102 reports a separate capability for both configuration and indication that is reported for PDSCH and PUSCH. The UE capability signaling may include the capability as a first capability for PDSCH signaling and a second capability for PUSCH signaling.

[0040] Following the UE capability signaling 202, the network device 104 may transmit first semi-static signaling 204. The first semi-static signaling 204 (e.g., RRC signaling) may configure a set of serving cells that includes at least a first subset of serving cells and a second subset of serving cells.

[0041] Second semi-static signaling 206 (e.g., RRC signaling) may configure a first set of DMRS resources for the first subset of serving cells (configured via first semi-static signaling 204) and a second set of DMRS resources for the second subset of serving cells (configured via first semi-static signaling 204) . The first set of DMRS resources may include resources for the reception of DMRS encoded according to a first set of orthogonal cover codes having a first length. The second set of DMRS resources including resources for the reception of DMRS encoded according to a second set of orthogonal cover codes having a second length. In some examples, the second length may be greater than the first length.

[0042] The network device 104 may prepare a multiple cell DCI message 208 (e.g., a DCI format 0_3 or DCI format 1_3) that schedules communications (e.g., transmissions on the PUSCH, or receptions on a PDSCH) for multiple cells configured for the UE 102. The multiple cell DCI message 208 may include a codepoint in an antenna port field.

[0043] At 210, the UE 102 may identify the DMRS configuration for the communications scheduled via the multiple cell DCI message 208. For example, the UE 102 may identify a set of DMRS configurations for a reference serving cell, and select a DMRS configuration from the set of DMRS configurations for the reference serving cell (and based on the codepoint indicated by the DCI message) . In another example, the UE 102 may use a co-scheduling restriction to select the DMRS configuration including one or more DMRS antenna ports for the communications (e.g., transmissions or receptions) on each serving cell. The co-scheduling restriction may restrict the multiple cell DCI message 208 to schedule either a first subset of serving cells or a second subset of serving cells based on the first subset of serving cell corresponding to first DMRS encoded according to the first set of orthogonal cover codes, and the second subset of serving cell corresponding to second DMRS encoded according to the second set of orthogonal cover codes.

[0044] Once the DMRS configuration (including one or more DMRS antenna ports) for the multiple serving cells are determined at the UE 102, the UE may then proceed with communications 212 on the multiple serving cells. The communications may be uplink on a PUSCH using the DMRS configuration, or downlink on a PDSCH using the DMRS configuration.

[0045] FIG. 3 shows an example method 300 of wireless communication by a UE, according to one or more aspects described herein. In some cases, the UE may be the wireless device 802 or UE 102. In some cases, the method 300 may be performed by a baseband processor of the UE. In some embodiments, the baseband processor may include one or more processor cores, and memory that is coupled to the processor core (s) . The memory may store instructions that, when executed by the processor core (s) , causes the baseband processor to perform the operations of the method 300. As the baseband processor performs the operations of the method 300, the baseband processor may also cause other components of the UE to perform, or discontinue, various operations.

[0046] At 302, the method 300 includes receiving first semi-static signaling configuring a first and second subset of serving cells. In some embodiments, the method 300 includes receiving first semi-static signaling configuring a set of serving cells that includes at least a first subset of serving cells and a second subset of serving cells.

[0047] At 304, the method 300 includes receiving second semi-static signaling configuring first DMRS resources for DMRS encoded according to a first length OCC and second DMRS resources for DMRS encoded according to a second length OCC. In some embodiments, the method 300 includes receiving second semi-static signaling configuring a first set of DMRS resources for the first subset of serving cells and a second set of DMRS resources for the second subset of serving cells, the first set of DMRS resources including resources for the reception of first DMRS encoded according to a first set of orthogonal cover codes having a first length, and the second set of DMRS resources including resources for the reception of second DMRS encoded according to a second set of orthogonal cover codes having a second length greater than the first length.

[0049] At 308, the method 300 includes selecting a DMRS configuration according to the single codepoint indicated by the DCI message based on a co-scheduling restriction. In some embodiments, the method 300 includes selecting, from the first set of DMRS resources and the second set of DMRS resources according to the single codepoint indicated by the DCI message, a DMRS configuration including one or more DMRS antenna ports for the transmissions or receptions on each serving cell of the plurality of serving cells scheduled by the DCI message based at least in part on a co-scheduling restriction for the first DMRS encoded according to the first set of orthogonal cover codes and second DMRS encoded according to the second set of orthogonal cover codes.

[0050] In some embodiments, transmitting, to a network device, UE capability signaling identifying a capability of the UE to be configured with the first set of DMRS resources using the first set of orthogonal cover codes having a first length for the second subset of serving cells, and the second set of DMRS resources using the second set of orthogonal cover codes having the second length for the second subset of serving cells. In some embodiments, the UE capability signaling further includes an indication that the UE is capable of configuring, based at least in part on the DCI message, the DMRS configuration including one or more DMRS antenna ports for the transmissions or receptions on each serving cell of the plurality of serving cells scheduled by the DCI message. In some embodiments, the UE capability signaling includes the capability as a joint capability applicable for both PDSCH signaling and PUSCH signaling. In some embodiments, the UE capability signaling includes the capability as a first capability for PDSCH signaling and a second capability for PUSCH signaling.

[0051] In some embodiments, the determination of the plurality of serving cells scheduled by the DCI message is further based at least in part on a configuration restriction that the UE does not expect to be configured to communicate on serving cells using DMRS resources with orthogonal cover codes having different lengths. In one or more embodiments, the method further includes receiving a control message configuring the UE to use a DMRS table common across the set of serving cells, and the configuration restriction applies based at least in part on the DMRS table being common across the set of serving cells. In some embodiments, the DCI message is a DCI format 0_3 for PUSCH scheduling. In some embodiments, the DCI message is a DCI format 1_3 for PDSCH scheduling.

[0052] The method 300 may be variously embodied, extended, or adapted, as described in the following paragraphs and elsewhere in this description.
