[0046] As used herein, the term “network device” refers to a node in a communication network via which a terminal device accesses the network and receives services therefrom. The network device may refer to a base station (BS) or an access point (AP) , for example, a node B (NodeB or NB) , an evolved NodeB (eNodeB or eNB) , an NR NB (also referred to as a gNB) , a Remote Radio Unit (RRU) , a radio header (RH) , a remote radio head (RRH) , a relay, an Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) node, a low power node such as a femto, a pico, a non-terrestrial network (NTN) or non-ground network device such as a satellite network device, a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite and a geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO) satellite, an aircraft network device, and so forth, depending on the applied terminology and technology. In some example embodiments, radio access network (RAN) split architecture comprises a Centralized Unit (CU) and a Distributed Unit (DU) at an IAB donor node. An IAB node comprises a Mobile Terminal (IAB-MT) part that behaves like a UE toward the parent node, and a DU part of an IAB node behaves like a base station toward the next-hop IAB node.

[0047] The term “terminal device” refers to any end device that may be capable of wireless communication. By way of example rather than limitation, a terminal device may also be referred to as a communication device, user equipment (UE) , a Subscriber Station (SS) , a Portable Subscriber Station, a Mobile Station (MS) , or an Access Terminal (AT) . The terminal device may include, but not limited to, a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a smart phone, voice over IP (VoIP) phones, wireless local loop phones, a tablet, a wearable terminal device, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , portable computers, desktop computer, image capture terminal devices such as digital cameras, gaming terminal devices, music storage and playback appliances, vehicle-mounted wireless terminal devices, wireless endpoints, mobile stations, laptop-embedded equipment (LEE) , laptop-mounted equipment (LME) , USB dongles, smart devices, wireless customer-premises equipment (CPE) , an Internet of Things (IoT) device, a watch or other wearable, a head-mounted display (HMD) , a vehicle, a drone, a medical device and applications (e.g., remote surgery) , an industrial device and applications (e.g., a robot and / or other wireless devices operating in an industrial and / or an automated processing chain contexts) , a consumer electronics device, a device operating on commercial and / or industrial wireless networks, and the like. The terminal device may also correspond to a Mobile Termination (MT) part of an IAB node (e.g., a relay node) . In the following description, the terms “terminal device” , “communication device” , “terminal” , “user equipment” and “UE” may be used interchangeably.

[0048] As used herein, the term “resource, ” “transmission resource, ” “resource block, ” “physical resource block” (PRB) , “uplink resource, ” or “downlink resource” may refer to any resource for performing a communication, for example, a communication between a terminal device and a network device, such as a resource in time domain, a resource in frequency domain, a resource in space domain, a resource in code domain, or any other combination of the time, frequency, space and / or code domain resource enabling a communication, and the like. In the following, unless explicitly stated, a resource in both frequency domain and time domain will be used as an example of a transmission resource for describing some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.

[0049] FIG. 1 illustrates an example communication environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication devices, including a terminal device 110 and a network device 120, can communicate with each other. In the example of FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may be a UE and the network device 120 may be a base station serving the UE. The serving area of the network device 120 may be called a cell 102.

[0050] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell 102, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100. It is noted that although illustrated as a network device, the network device 120 may be another device than a network device. Although illustrated as a terminal device, the terminal device 110 may be another device than a terminal device.

[0051] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the terminal device 110 operating as a UE and the network device 120 operating as a base station. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0052] In some example embodiments, a transmission direction from the network device 120 to the terminal device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a transmission direction from the terminal device 110 to the network device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the terminal device 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0053] Communications in the communication environment 100 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0054] Currently, two duplexing modes are supported in the communication systems, including Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) for paired bands and Time Division Duplexing (TDD) for unpaired bands. In TDD, uplink and downlink phases are separated in time domain. This limitation in TDD is further exacerbated by the fact that the scheduling typically offers low dynamism, i.e., the slot structure is fixed and does not change very often in practice. This may result in rather limited time duration for the uplink in TDD. In FDD, uplink and downlink transmission are allowed at the same time over different frequency bands which is separated by a grand band. Frequency bands are generally inflexible to change which may result in higher complexity and high cost.

[0055] Motivated by this, one of the objectives of the evolution of duplexing operation in the communication systems that addresses the challenges above is to allow simultaneous downlink and uplink transmissions on different physical resource blocks (PRBs)  / sub-bands within an unpaired wideband cell. Such a duplexing mode is referred to as a sub-band non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) mode or SBFD scheme. In SBFD, downlink and uplink are operated simultaneously on the same time division duplex carrier on different frequency resources. This duplexing mode may be also referred to as cross-division duplexing (xDD) or flexible division duplexing (FDU) .

[0056] In SBFD, there may be two slot types for both downlink and uplink transmissions. FIG. 2 illustrates an example 200 of sub-band full duplex and non-sub-band full duplex slots according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 2, during SBFD slots 210, the non-overlapping DL sub-band (s) and UL sub-band (s) 214 may both exist. Thus, a SBFD slot includes both DL and UL resources 202, 204. During non-SBFD slots 208 and 212, the entire band is used for either downlink or uplink (for example, legacy / full DL / UL slots) . In this example, a non-SBFD slot 208 for full DL includes DL resources 202 only, while a non-SBFD slot 212 for full UL includes UL resources 204 only.

[0057] In SBFD slots 210, a guard band (or guard resource) 206 is expected to be placed between DL and UL resource blocks (RBs) . This provides better isolation between UL and DL transmissions and is expected to be essential for reducing the impact of the self-interference (due to gNB’s own DL transmissions and the gNB’s own UL reception) as well as cross-link interference (CLI) between UE to UE links, and gNB to gNB links.

[0058] SBFD introduces new types of CLI, namely co-channel inter-sub-band CLI from non-overlapping frequency resources. This interference can be better classified depending on the source of the interference as: 1. gNB self-interference; 2. intra-cell UE-to-UE co-channel inter-sub-band CLI; 3. inter-cell UE-to-UE co-channel inter-sub-band CLI; 4. gNB-to-gNB co-channel inter-sub-band CLI.

[0059] Besides these new CLI types, in case of different frequency domain partitioning in neighbor cells, the communication system may also suffer from co-channel CLI from transmissions on overlapping frequency resources: 5. gNB-to-gNB inter-cell co-channel CLI from overlapping frequency resources; 6. UE-to-UE inter-cell co-channel CLI from overlapping frequency resources.

[0060] FIG. 3 illustrates example 300 of the above six co-channel cross-link interference types in SBFD deployment.

[0061] In some cases, UE may be configured with more than one component carrier (CC) for operations. It has been specified UL transmission chain switching feature (referred to as UL Tx switching) together with unaligned TDD patterns across component carriers for maximizing the usage of UE’s hardware in carrier aggregation (CA) scenarios. Indeed, considering an example shown in FIG. 4A where two CCs denoted as CC#1 and CC#2 are configured with DDDDDDDSUU and DDDSUDDDSU patterns, respectively, and the former is shifted by 3 slots. In FIG. 4A, “D” represents a DL slot, “U” represents an UL slot, and “S” represents a special slot. A special slot may include both DL and UL symbols. For example, a special slot with 14 symbols may contain e.g., 10 DL symbols, 2 gap symbols for switching from DL to UL, and 2 UL symbols.

[0062] With the UL Tx switching techniques, the UE with a single Tx chain would be able to operate in CA or the UE with two (or more) Tx chains can use all Tx chains in a single CC to improve the throughput. For example, after performing on the first two UL slots in CC#1, the UE may perform UL Tx switching, to switch the single (or more) Tx chains to perform UL transmission in the first UL slot in CC#2. Similarly, UE may continue to perform UL Tx switching if the next UL slot (s) are in the other component carrier.

[0063] For UE supporting more than one CC, the SBFD mode may be configured for one or more of the CCs. FIG. 4B illustrates another example 402 of UL Tx switching in the SBFD scenario, where “F” represents a SBFD slot. Still considering a similar example as in FIG. 4B, but SBFD is configured in CC#1 with the 4th to the 8th slots in the 10-slot TDD pattern of CC#1 are configured to be SBFD slots (denoted by F1 to F5) , as illustrated in FIG. 4B.

[0064] It is assumed that a half-duplex SBFD-aware UE with a single Tx chain operates in CA with unaligned TDD patterns. Given that SBFD configuration (time and frequency) is commonly configured for all UEs in a cell, the considered UE is also configured with SBFD slots in F1 to F5 as shown in FIG. 4B. This UE has issue with Tx switching when the SBFD slots in CC#1 (F3 &F4) overlap with the UL slots / symbols in CC#2 because the SBFD slots also include UL resources for UL transmission. Indeed, it’s unclear whether the UE should use its single Tx chain on CC#1 or CC#2.

[0065] Although in theory the scenario can be avoided by configuration, but such assumption is unrealistic in practice. On the one hand, one may argue that it’s up to the network to configure SBFD to avoid such overlapping, however it’s very restrictive for the network since the scheduler needs to take into account TDD patterns in all CCs and SBFD slots configuration. On the other hand, one may argue that it’s up to the network to schedule UL transmission in only one CC in that case, however it’s very hard for the network scheduler to control it, especially for semi-statically configured transmissions. In addition, there is a preparation time needed for Tx switching and therefore UE needs to know well in advance which CC it should switch the Tx chain to.

[0066] Therefore, a rule and / or a signaling is needed for clarifying UE behavior in this case. The rule and / or signaling is used by the UE to determine which CC shall use for UL transmission (and potentially change its Tx change to) in case that both CCs contain UL resources.

[0067] In accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided some solutions for component carrier prioritization in a SBFD mode. In a solution, if the terminal device determines that at least one slot in first component carrier configured with a SBFD mode overlaps in time with at least one slot in a second component carrier comprising uplink resources, the terminal device determines based on at least one criteria related to the first and second component carriers or signaling received from a network device, whether a first uplink transmission is to be performed in the first component carrier or a second uplink transmission is to be performed in the second component carrier at the at least one overlapping slot. Then the terminal device performs the uplink transmission to the network device in the determined component carrier at the at least one overlapping slot. At the network side, the network device performs in a similar way to determine in which component carrier an uplink transmission is to be received from the terminal device at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0068] In this way, the terminal device is allowed to determine which component carrier is prioritized for UL transmission when an SBFD slot (s) in a CC overlap with a UL slot in another CC, and thus may perform the UL transmission accordingly in the prioritized component carrier in the overlapping slot (s) . With the behaviors of the terminal device clarified in this scenario, it can avoid all complexities and restrictions at the network scheduler for avoiding such scenario.

[0069] In some example embodiments, the terminal device reports to the network device capability information indicating at least one of: a first number of component carriers supported by the terminal device to be configured with a SBFD mode, or a second number of component carriers supported by the first apparatus without the SBFD mode configured. The network device can thus configure the component carriers and the SBFD mode for the terminal device based on the capability information of the terminal device. The terminal device then perform uplink transmission with the network device in the at least one component carrier based on the configuration information. In this way, the network device can simply configure CA and SBFD configuration based on the capability of the terminal device.

[0070] Example embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0071] FIG. 5A illustrates an example signaling flow 500 of component carrier prioritization in a SBFD mode according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the signaling flow 500 will be described with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0072] In the following, it is assumed that the terminal device 110 is configured with and operates in a first CC (represented as CC#1) and a second CC (represented as CC#2) , where at least one slot of the first CC is configured with a SBFD mode which means that the at least one slot includes both UL and DL resources. Such a slot may sometimes be referred to as SBFD slot. As used here, a “slot” refers to any suitable unit of time resource. In some examples, a slot may include one or more symbols, and the SBFD slot may be referred to as SBFD symbol (s) .

[0073] The SBFD mode may be configured per slot, thus some other slots of the first CC may include UL resources only or DL resources only, or may be configured as special slots. Some other slots of the second CC may be configured with the SBFD mode and thus include both UL and DL resources.

[0074] Note that although example embodiments are described in a case where the terminal device has a single Tx chain and operates in two CCs, the above and following example embodiments can be generalized for the cases when the terminal device having a higher number of Tx chains (e.g., 2 or more) and operate in higher number of CCs (e.g., 3 or more) .

[0075] The terminal device 110 determines (515) that at least one slot in a first CC configured with a SBFD mode and including UL and DL resources overlaps in time with at least one slot in a second CC including UL resources. The slot in the second CC including UL resources may not be configured with the SBFD mode, such as an UL slot or special slot. Such a slot including UL resources only may sometimes be referred to as an UL slot or UL symbols. In addition to the UL slot, a special slot may include UL symbols used as UL resources. This, the overlapping part of UL resources in the first and second CCs may be in units of slots or symbols.

[0076] In the following, if a slot or symbol in a CC configured with a SBFD mode and including UL and DL resources overlaps or collides with a slot or symbol in another CC including UL resources, such a slot or symbol may be referred to as overlapping slot or symbol, or SBFD overlapping slot or symbol. In the example of FIG. 4B, the slots “F3” and “F4” in CC#1 overlap with the slots or symbols including UL resources in CC#2, and such a slot refers to a (SBFD) overlapping slot. Note that the slot “F3” in CC#1 overlaps with the special slot “S” in CC#2. If the special slot contains e.g., 10 DL symbols, 2 gap symbols for switching from DL to UL, and 2 UL symbols, then the overlapping part may be at the 2 UL symbols.

[0077] If the terminal device 110 determines that there is at least overlapping slot for the first and second CCs, it may need to further determine on which CC the UL transmission is to be performed. In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may further determine whether there is overlapping of UL transmissions at the overlapping slot (s) and may need to select a CC for UL transmission if there is such overlapping of UL transmissions.

[0078] The terminal device 110 determines (520) , based on at least one criteria related to the first and second CCs or signaling received from a network device 120, whether a first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC or a second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot. In other words, in some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine which CC is prioritized for an UL transmission itself based on certain criterion, without extra signaling provided by the network device. Such criterion may be specified to the terminal device 110 or may be previously configured by the network device. As an alternative, the terminal device 110 may receive (510) signaling transmitted (505) by the network device 120, which may indicate to the terminal device 110 which CC is prioritized for an UL transmission at the overlapping slot (s) .

[0079] The terminal device 110 performs (525) the UL transmission to the network device 120 in the determined CC at the at least one overlapping slot. In some example embodiments where the terminal device 110 has a single Tx chain or more than one Tx chain, it may determine that the Tx chain (s) is to be used on the determined CC and thus use the Tx chain (s) to perform the UL transmission on the determined CC (e.g., the first UL transmission if the first CC is prioritized or the second UL transmission if the second CC is prioritized) .

[0080] In some example embodiments, if it is determined that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may perform the first UL transmission in the first CC and drop the second UL transmission in the second CC. For example, in FIG. 4B, if CC#1 is prioritized in the overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may perform the UL transmission in CC#1 at the overlapping slot and drop the UL transmission in CC#2 at the same slot.

[0081] In some example embodiments, if it is determined that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may perform the second UL transmission in the second CC and drop the first UL transmission in the first CC. For example, in FIG. 4B, if CC#2 is prioritized in the overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may perform the UL transmission in CC#2 at the overlapping slot and drop the UL transmission in CC#1 at the same slot.

[0082] In some examples, Tx switching may be needed when performing the UL transmission in the determined CC. If the Tx chain (s) of the terminal device 110 is directed to the second CC before the overlapping slot (s) but the first CC is prioritized, the terminal device 110 may perform Tx switching to switch the Tx chain (s) towards the first CC and then use the Tx (s) to perform the first UL transmission in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. Similarly, if the Tx chain (s) of the terminal device 110 is directed to the first CC before the overlapping slot (s) but the second CC is prioritized, the terminal device 110 may perform Tx switching to switch the Tx chain (s) towards the second CC and then use the Tx (s) to perform the second UL transmission in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0083] At the network side, the network device 120 also determines the CC prioritization of the terminal device 110 so as to determine in which CC the UL transmission is to be received. In particular, the network device 120 determines (530) that at least one slot in a first CC configured with the SBFD mode and including UL and downlink resources overlaps in time with at least one slot in a second CC including UL resources. The network device 120 determines (535) , based on at least one criteria related to the first and second CCs or signaling transmitted to the terminal device, whether a first UL transmission in the first CC or a second UL transmission in the second CC is to be performed from the terminal device at the at least one overlapping slot. The network device 120 may apply the same criteria or the signaling it transmitted to the terminal device 110, to determine in which CC the UL transmission is to be performed. Then the network device 120 receives (540) the first UL transmission or the second UL transmission from the terminal device in the determined CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0084] In the following, example embodiments of how the terminal device determines the CC for UL transmission in the overlapping slot (s) will be provided. It would be appreciated that those example embodiments may be similarly implemented by the network device.

[0085] In some example embodiments, as mentioned above, the terminal device 110 may determine, based on the at least one condition, whether the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC or the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot, without receiving extra signaling from the network device 120.

[0086] In some example embodiments, according to a first criteria, the terminal device 110 may always determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at any overlapping slot. Thus, the Tx chain (s) of the terminal device 110 may always be used on the second CC at the overlapping slot (s) . In such cases, if there’s no specific indication from the network side, then it is better to perform UL transmission in the second CC to avoid at least the SBFD-specific CLI in the first CC. In addition, the second CC may have more bandwidth for UL than the UL sub-band in the SBFD mode of the first CC.

[0087] In some example embodiments, without extra signaling from the network, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC or the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot based on various factors.

[0088] In some example embodiments, according to a second criteria, prioritization of the first CC or the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot may be determined based on whether the at least one slot in the first CC is subsequent to a first slot in the first CC that is configured with the SBFD mode including UL and DL resources and is not overlapping with a second slot in the second CC including UL resources. The first slot may be referred to as a SBFD non-overlapping slot or symbol as it is not overlapping with a slot with UL resources. For example, in FIG. 4B, the slots F1, F2, F5 in CC#1 are SBFD non-overlapping slots as they are configured with the SBFD mode but are not overlapping with an UL slot in CC#2.

[0089] If it is determined that the at least one slot in the first CC is subsequent to a SBFD non-overlapping slot in the first CC, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. Otherwise, if it is determined that the at least one slot in the first CC is not subsequent to the first slot, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0090] For example, the terminal device 110 may determine that the Tx chain (s) may be used in the first CC at the overlapping slot (s) , if the overlapping slot (s) are subsequent to a SBFD non-overlapping slot. Otherwise, the UE switches Tx chain to the second CC. For example, in FIG. 4B, the slots F3, F4 are subsequent to the slot F2 in CC#1 which is a SBFD slot but is not overlapping with any UL slot in the CC#2, therefore the terminal device 110 may keep the Tx chain in the CC#1 for the slots F3 and F4. As such, it may avoid a Tx switching step which may impact latency. The terminal device 110 may keep Tx in the same CC, e.g., the first CC, from the previous SBFD non-overlapping slot to the SBFD overlapping slot (s) .

[0091] In some example embodiments, according to a third criteria, if the at least one slot in the first CC is subsequent to a SBFD non-overlapping slot, the prioritization of the first CC or the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot may be determined based on whether an UL transmission has been performed in the SBFD non-overlapping slot.

[0092] If it is determined that the at least one slot in the first CC is subsequent to a SBFD non-overlapping slot, and if an UL transmission has been performed in the first slot, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. If it is determined that the at least one slot in the first CC is subsequent to a SBFD non-overlapping slot but no UL transmission is performed in the SBFD non-overlapping slot, or if it is determined that the at least one slot in the first CC is not subsequent to a SBFD non-overlapping slot, then the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot and switch the Tx chain (s) to the second CC for UL transmission. This third criteria may further ensure that the Tx chain is kept in the first CC when there is an on-going UL transmission from the previous SBFD non-overlapping slot to the current overlapping slot (s) .

[0093] In some example embodiments, according to a fourth criteria, prioritization of the first CC or the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot may be determined based on whether a DL reception requiring for UL feedback is ongoing in the at least one overlapping slot in the first CC or whether the network device 120 schedules a random access channel (PRACH) in the at least one overlapping slot.

[0094] If it is determined that downlink reception requiring for UL feedback is ongoing in the at least one slot in the first CC or the network device 120 schedules a PRACH in the at least one overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. Otherwise, if it is determined that no DL reception requiring for UL feedback is ongoing in the at least one slot in the first CC or no PRACH is scheduled in the at least one overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0095] For example, the terminal device 110 may determine that the Tx chain should be used in the first CC at the overlapping symbols, if DL reception is ongoing that need UL feedback in the overlapping SBFD symbols in the first CC. Otherwise, the terminal device 110 may switch the Tx chain to the second CC in the overlapping SBFD slot. This criteria may further ensure that the Tx chain is kept in the first CC when there’s UL feedback needed in the overlapping SBFD slot.

[0096] In some example embodiments, according to a fifth criteria, prioritization of the first CC or the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot may be determined based on whether an UL transmission is scheduled in the at least one slot in the first CC or the second CC. If it is determined that an UL transmission is scheduled in the at least one overlapping slot in the first CC, but no UL transmission is scheduled in the overlapping slot in the second CC, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. If it is determined that an UL transmission is scheduled in the at least one slot in the second CC, but no UL transmission is scheduled in the overlapping slot in the first CC, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot. This criteria may allow the terminal device to prioritize the CC with the UL transmission scheduled.

[0097] In some example embodiments, according to a sixth criteria, prioritization of the first CC or the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot may be determined based on respective duplexing types of the terminal device 110 in the first and second CCs, and / or a downlink reference signal measurement.

[0098] The duplexing types of the terminal device 110 in a CC may include a TDD type or a FDD type. The downlink reference signal measurement may be applied to determine whether the terminal device 110 is in a good communication condition or a bad communication condition with the network device 120. In some examples, the downlink reference signal measurement may include reference signal received power (RSRP) , reference signal received quality (RSRQ) , a line-of-sight (LoS) or non-line-of-sight (NLoS) indicator for the channel between the terminal device 110 or the network device 120. In some examples, the terminal device 110 may determine, based on the downlink reference signal measurement, whether the terminal device 110 locates in a cell-centered area close to the network device 120 or whether it locates in a cell edge of the network device 120. For example, if the downlink reference signal measurement exceeds a first threshold, e.g., the RSRP exceeds a RSRP threshold, then the terminal device 110 may locate in a cell-centered area. If the downlink reference signal measurement is below a second threshold, then the terminal device 110 may locate in a cell edge. The first threshold and the second threshold, which may be the same or different values, may be configured or predetermined in any suitable ways.

[0099] In some other examples, if it is determined that the duplexing type in the first CC is a FDD type, and the downlink reference signal measurement exceeds a first threshold, e.g., the terminal device 110 is cell-centered, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. If it is determined that the downlink reference signal measurement is below a second threshold, e.g., the terminal device 110 is at the cell edge, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0100] In one example with the terminal device 110 having two Tx chains and two CCs, it is assumed that the first CC is configured with TDD with SBFD supported (similar to FIG. 4B) , and the second CC is configured with FDD. If the terminal device 110 is cell-centered, it may determine to use the two Tx chains on the first CC to take advantage of the UL-MIMO. If the chain is at the cell edge (or moving from the cell center to the cell edge) , the terminal device 110 may consider using one Tx chain on the first CC and another Tx chain on the second CC at the overlapping slot (s) .

[0101] In another example with the terminal device 110 having one Tx chain and two CCs, it is assumed that the first CC is configured with TDD with SBFD supported (similar to FIG. 4B) , and the second CC is configured with FDD. If the terminal device 110 is cell-centered, it may always determine to use the Tx chain on the first CC since a smaller number of users will be utilizing the TDD band. Otherwise, if the terminal device 110 is at the cell edge, the terminal device 110 may determine to stay or switch to the second CC since it provides higher number of UL resources, which may provide better coverage.

[0102] Note that this alternative requires the downlink signal measurement at the terminal side for the terminal device to determine its location (i.e., for distinguishing whether the terminal device is at cell-center or cell-edge) . In some example embodiments, a coordination between the network and terminal device on location determination of the terminal device may be required, such that the network device doesn’ t need to perform two hypotheses on the location of the terminal device or at least to avoid mismatch between the network’s and the terminal device’s interpretation of the location. Such coordination may be done by allowing the terminal device to feedback such information to the network device.

[0103] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive signaling from the network device 120 which may indicate how the first CC or the second CC is prioritized. The network device 120 may use the same signaling to determine which CC the UL transmission from the terminal device 110 is expected. Such embodiments are more flexible compared to using the criteria above, for which the UE behavior is fixed.

[0104] In some example embodiments, the signaling received from the network device 120 may indicate whether the first CC or the second CC is prioritized when a slot in the first CC configured with the SBFD mode and including UL and DL resources overlaps with a slot in the second CC including UL resources. In some examples, the signaling may include radio resource control (RRC) signaling, to indicate or configure the terminal device 110 which CC is to be prioritized when there is overlapping. If the signaling indicates that the first CC is prioritized, the terminal device 110 may perform the first UL transmission in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot. If the signaling indicates that the second CC is prioritized, the terminal device 110 may perform the second UL transmission in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0105] The above signaling may indicate prioritization at CC level. In some example embodiments, the signaling received from the network device 120 may include at least one indication, and an indication may indicate whether the first CC or the second CC is prioritized at a slot or a set of slots. Such indication may indicate prioritization at slot level, to indicate which CC is prioritized in each overlapping slot or each set of overlapping slots. In some examples, the received signaling may include a bitmap to indicate the terminal device 110 which CC is to be prioritized when there is overlapping. Each bit in the bitmap may indicate the prioritization per slot or per set of slots.

[0106] If it is determined that a first indication may indicate that the first CC is prioritized at a first overlapping slot of the at least one overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the first overlapping slot. If it is determined that a second indication may indicate that the first CC is prioritized at a second overlapping slot of the at least one overlapping slot, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the second overlapping slot.

[0107] In some examples, the signaling of which CC should be prioritized or the bitmap may be conditional to satisfaction of certain condition (s) . The signaling received from the network device 120 further includes at least one of the following: a first condition associated with prioritization of the first CC, and a second condition associated with prioritization of the second CC.

[0108] If it is determined that the signaling or an indication indicates that the first CC is prioritized, and if it is determined that the first condition is satisfied, then the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC. Otherwise, if the first condition is not satisfied, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC. Further, if it is determined that the signaling or an indication indicates that the second CC is prioritized, and if it is determined that the second condition is satisfied, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC. Otherwise, if the second condition is not satisfied, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC.

[0109] In some example embodiments, the first and / or second conditions may be based on the downlink signal measurement, such as the measurement of synchronization signal block (SSB) or channel status information-reference signal (CSI-RS) of the serving cell. The terminal device 110 may compare the downlink signal measurement with a configured threshold. This aims to leverage from the channel condition of the terminal device 110, i.e., whether the terminal device 110is considered as being at the cell edge or cell center, so as to decide which CC to prioritize.

[0110] The goal is that a terminal device in cell-edge conditions would preferably transmit over the first CC given its expected allocation fits within the SBFD UL sub-band. On the other hand, a cell-center terminal device 110 is not power limited and can occupy larger bandwidth that the typical UL sub-band bandwidth. In this case, the terminal device 110 would preferably prioritize the second CC. Therefore, in some example embodiments, if the downlink signal measurement exceeds a first threshold, the terminal device 110 may determine that the first condition for prioritization of the first CC is satisfied and may determine that the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC. If the downlink signal measurement is below a second threshold, the terminal device 110 may determine that the second condition for prioritization of the second CC is satisfied and may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC. The first threshold and the second threshold, which may be the same or different values, may be configured or predetermined in any suitable ways.

[0111] As such, a terminal device moving in the cell can change its behaviour by simply performing the downlink signal measurements, e.g., a terminal device moving from the cell edge to the cell center may start prioritizing the first CC rather than the second CC.

[0112] Note that as mentioned above, in addition to the downlink signal measurement, the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 may coordinate in any other ways to enable that they have the same interpretation of location of the terminal device 110.

[0113] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may reinterpret other signaling for such indication of CC prioritization in the overlapping slot. For example, the network device 120 may indicate the terminal device 110 with a link direction indication (which may come in forms of “D” or “U” slot indication for each SBFD slot) indicating whether DL or UL transmission is to be prioritized when they are overlapped in a SBFD slot.

[0114] FIG. 6 illustrates an example 600 of potential link direction indication in SBFD slots. The network device may provide the terminal device with an indication 602 about the link direction in the SBFD symbols or slots. The link direction indication is used for solving the UL / DL collision issue, if any, in a SBFD slot, while the terminal device can transmit and / or receive UL and / or DL in the SBFD slot. The link direction indication may be in forms of the “direction type” e.g., “D” or “U” type for each SBFD slot, as illustrated in FIG. 6. The illustrated example 600 considers three SBFD slots with link direction provided for these slots as “DUU” , thus for the UL / DL time domain collision in the first slot (indicated with “D” ) , the DL reception is prioritized and thus the UL transmission 610 is dropped. In contrast, for the UL / DL time domain collision in the second slot (indicated with “U” ) , the UL transmission is then prioritized, and the DX reception 612 is dropped. The link direction indication may also be provided with OFDM symbol resolution, e.g. “U” or “D” for each symbol in a slot.

[0115] It is worth noting also that there’s a possibility that link direction indication is not explicitly provided or supported. In this case, the UE determines whether to transmit in UL or receive in DL based on the scheduling indications (e.g. downlink control information, DCI) from the network. In addition, some additional rules may need to be specified that prevent the network to indicate or configure the terminal device with a UL and DL transmissions that overlap in time. If the signaling received from the network device 120 includes a link direction indication  of whether a downlink transmission or an UL transmission is prioritized in a slot configured with the SBFD mode, the terminal device 110 may reinterpret this link direction indication as follows. If the link direction indication indicates that an UL transmission is prioritized in a slot configured with the SBFD mode, e.g., the link direction indication for the slot indicates “U” , then the terminal device 110 may keep its Tx chain the same CC (i.e., prioritizing the first CC with the SBFD mode. Then the first UL transmission is to be performed in the first CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0116] If the link direction indication indicates that a downlink transmission is prioritized in a slot configured with the SBFD mode, e.g., the link direction indication for the slot indicates “D” , the terminal device 110 may switch its Tx chain to the other CC (i.e., prioritizing the second CC without SBFD slots. The terminal device 110 may determine that the second UL transmission is to be performed in the second CC at the at least one overlapping slot.

[0117] In some other example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may report its capability to allow the network device 120 to configure the component carriers and SBFD for the terminal device 110. FIG. 5B illustrates an example signaling flow 502 of CC prioritization in a SBFD mode according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the signaling flow 500 will be described with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0118] In the signaling flow 502, the terminal device 110 transmits (50) , to the network device 120, capability information indicating at least one of: a first number of CCs supported by the terminal device 110 to be configured with a SBFD mode, or a second number of CCs supported by the terminal device 110 without the SBFD mode configured.

[0119] In some examples, the terminal device 110 may report, in the capability information, a total number of CCs supported without SBFD mode configured (referred to as non-SBFD CC) , a maximum number of CCs supported with the SBFD mode configured (referred to as SBFD CC) , and / or a number of CC supported with the SBFD mode configured plus a number of CC supported without the SBFD mode configured simultaneously.

[0120] The network device 120 receives (555) the capability information and determines (560) , based on the capability information, configuration information related to the SBFD mode in at least one of a plurality of CCs. The network device 120 transmits (565) the configuration information related to the SBFD mode to the terminal device 110.

[0121] The terminal device 110 receives (570) the configuration information from the network device 120 and performs (575) transmission with the network device 120 in the at least one CC based on the received configuration information.

[0122] The configuration information may indicate how many or which component carriers are configured for the terminal device 110 to operate. The configuration information may further configure one or more slots in one or more of the configured CCs as SBFD slots. As the network device 120 configures the terminal device 110 based on the reported capability information, it may allow the network to configure the terminal device 110 in a way that it supports in CA and SFBD operations.

[0123] In one example, the terminal device 110 may report a total of 2 CCs without SBFD but can operate in maximum 1 CC when there is SBFD configured, for example, the capability information may indicate “2” for CCs without SBFD or “1 + 0” to indicate that 1 CC with SBFD configured and zero non-SBFD CC configured. In this case, the terminal device 110 may be configured to operate only in one CC (e.g., the first CC, CC#1) if the SBFD mode needs to be configured in the cell of the network device 120.

[0124] In another example, a terminal device 110 with 2 Tx chains may report a total of 4 CCs without SBFD, but can operate in maximum 2 SBFD CCs, or 1 SBFD CCs plus two non-SBFD CCs. In this case the terminal device 110 indicate in the capability information “4” to indicate the number of non-SBFD CCs supported, or “2+0” , or “1+2” , ” 1+1” , to indicate the number of SBFD CCs plus non-SBFD CCs supported simultaneously.

[0125] In some example embodiments, a CC supported by the terminal device 110 may be defined or specified to be equivalent to a predetermined number of CCs, and the capability information indicates a total number of CCs supported by the terminal device 110.

[0126] For example, the capability information of the terminal device 110 may be defined or specified in such a way that one SBFD CC is equivalent to N non-SBFD CCs. For example, assuming N=2, if the terminal device 110 reports support for up to 4 CCs, the network device 120 may automatically deduct that the terminal device 110 can support 1 SBFD CC and 2 non-SBFD CCs, 2 SBFD CCs and 0 non-SBFD CCs and so on.

[0127] In some example embodiments, alternatively, or additionally, the capability information indicates a combination of at least one CC supported by the terminal device 110 to be configured with the SBFD mode, and at least one CC supported by the terminal device 110 without the SBFD mode simultaneously. For example, the terminal device 110 reports the combination of CCs, for which the simultaneous SBFD and non-SBFD CCs can be supported. For example, the terminal device 110 may report the support of 2 Tx chains and 4 CCs, but simultaneous configuration of SBFD and non-SBFD CCs can happen in CC#1 &CC#2, or CC#1 &CC#3 only. Thus, if the network device 120 needs to configure SBFD mode for the terminal device 110, it may configure CC#1 &CC#2, or CC#1 &CC#3 for the terminal device 110 to operate.

[0128] Alternatively, or additionally, in some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may further report a new capability of switching period for switching from a SBFD CC to a non-SBFD CC and / or from a non-SBFD CC to a SBFD CC, which may be different from the switching period between two non-SBFD CCs. The network device 120 may configure the SBFD slots in a SBFD CC based on the switching period reported by the terminal device 110, to avoid requiring a switching period lower than the reported switching period from a SBFD CC to a non-SBFD CC. The capability may be reported together in the capability information discussed above.

[0129] FIGS. 7A-7C illustrate example signaling flows 700A-700C of component carrier prioritization in a SBFD mode according to some further example embodiments of the present disclosure. The signaling flows 700A and 700B in FIGS. 7A-7B are considered as examples for the signaling flow 500 in FIG. 5A, and the signaling flow 700C in FIG. 7C is considered an example for the signaling flow 502 in FIG. 5B.

[0130] In the signaling flow 700A of FIG. 7A, the network device 120 configures (704) the terminal device 110 with carrier aggregation and SBFD is configured in at least one CC. The terminal device 110 receives (702) the configuration from the network device 120.

[0131] The terminal device 110 determines (706) whether there’s overlapping between SBFD symbol (s) in a CC and UL symbol (s) in another CC. In case of overlapping, the terminal device 110 further determines whether the terminal device 110 has Tx chains in both the configured CCs or whether Tx switching is used. In case of Tx switching, the terminal device 110 may further determine the CC where the terminal device 110 should switch its Tx chain to (i.e., the prioritized CC) based on one or more of the criterion disused above with reference to FIG. 5A. The terminal device 110 may switch its Tx chain to the determined CC.

[0132] The terminal device 110 transmits (708) an UL transmission, if any, on the determined CC in the overlapping slot (s) or symbol (s) . The network device 120 may accordingly receive (710) the UL transmission on the determined CC from the terminal device 110.

[0133] In the signaling flow 700B of FIG. 7B, the network device 120 configures (714) the terminal device 110 with carrier aggregation and SBFD is configured in at least one CC. The terminal device 110 receives (712) the configuration from the network device 120.

[0134] Further, the network device 120 provides (716) the terminal device 110 with signaling indicating a prioritized CC in case of overlapping between SBFD and UL slot (s) or symbol (s) across the configured CCs. The terminal device 110 receives (718) the signaling from the network device 120. The signaling may be implicit or explicit and may be one of the alternatives disused above with reference to FIG. 5A.

[0135] The terminal device 110 determines (720) the prioritized CC (s) based on the received signaling. The determination steps are similar to those in the signaling flow 700A, but it is the signaling that is used for determining the CC where the terminal device 110 should switch its Tx chain to. For example, the prioritized CC (s) may be straightforwardly determined based on the RRC parameter or the bitmap in the received signaling. As another example, the terminal device 110 may reinterprets the link direction indication for such determination. For example, for an overlapping SBFD slot, if the link direction indication for the slot indicates “D” , the terminal device 110 may switch its Tx chain to the other CC (i.e., prioritizing the non-SBFD CC) . If the link direction indication for the slot indicates “U” , the terminal device 110 may keep its Tx chain the same CC (i.e., prioritizing the SBFD CC) .

[0136] Further, the terminal device 110 transmits (722) an UL transmission, if any, on the determined CC in the overlapping slot (s) or symbol (s) . The network device 120 may accordingly receive (724) the UL transmission on the determined CC from the terminal device 110.

[0137] In the signaling flow 700C of FIG. 7C, the terminal device 110 reports (730) its capability information to the network device 120. The capability information may indicate a maximum number of CCs it can support when none of the CCs is configured with SBFD, the maximum number of SBFD CCs plus the maximum number of non-SBFD CCs the terminal device 110 can support in parallel.

[0138] The network device 120 receives (732) the capability information and determines configuration information related to CA and SBFD for the terminal device 110 based on the capability information, to avoid the collision between the SBFD slots and UL slots. The network device 120 configures (734) the terminal device 110 with CA and SBFD in at least one CC based on the capability information reported by the terminal device. The terminal device 110 receives (736) the configuration information from the network device 120 and perform the transmission with the network device 120 based on the configuration information.

[0139] FIG. 8A shows a flowchart of an example method 800 implemented at a first apparatus in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. The first apparatus may be or may be included in the terminal device 110 in FIG. 1. For the purpose of discussion, the method 800 will be described from the perspective of the first apparatus.
