[0004] The present disclosure relates to the field of perfumery. The present disclosure describes a high fragrance loading carrier formulation that can be combined with water-soluble tablet products in which the amount of fragrance ingredients may be limited in the tablet product. The high fragrance loading carrier formulation allows for the addition of fragrance separated from the functionality of water-soluble tablet products useful in various applications, such as all-purpose cleaner tablets, toilet cleaner tablets, laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent tablets, among others.
[0005] Background of the Disclosure
[0006] Fragrances play an important role in the perception of consumer product performance and thus they often determine the consumer's choice for a given product. In some consumer products, such as detergents, hard surface cleaners, air fresheners, and the like, fragrances as free oils are solubilized in liquids, typically in alcohol-based solutions or in water-based solutions with surfactants, in order to deliver a pleasant odor to the surrounding air, to fabrics, or to other various surfaces. In some cases, fragrances may be encapsulated in microcapsules and suspended in liquid solvent. However, the volume of the solvents used is often much larger than the volume of fragrance, leading to increased concerns around sustainability and consumer demand for environmental friendliness.
[0007] Tablet products that can be dissolved and / or diluted in solvents at the point of use are suitable alternatives for overcoming the challenges of manufacturing products with large amounts of solvents and the high costs of transporting large volumes of products. However, a problem for tablet products is the reduced amount of fragrance that can be incorporated into a tablet. Dissolvable / dilutable tablet products are often limited in their fragrance dosage, due to the tablet requiring a given consistency and dilution mechanism in the final product form and for production. In cases where higher fragrance dosages are required or desired, this cannot be achieved by compromising the above capabilities.Firmenich SA
[0008] Therefore, there is an ongoing need for compositions that can increase fragrance loading of a dilutable tablet product without compromising the physical aspects of the final tablet product.
[0009] Summary of the Disclosure
[0010] The following aspects of the present disclosure seek to address one or more of the problems described hereinabove.
[0011] In a first aspect, the present disclosure relates to a water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate comprising:
[0012] i) polyethylene glycol,
[0013] ii) one or more nonionic surfactants, and
[0014] iii) a perfume mixture.
[0015] In a second aspect, the present disclosure relates to a water-soluble solid composition comprising:
[0016] a) the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate described herein; and b) a water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition in the form of a tablet;
[0017] wherein the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate and the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition are not mixed, and wherein the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate at least partially coats the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition.
[0018] In a third aspect, the present disclosure relates to a method for increasing the amount of fragrance provided by a water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition in the form of a tablet, the method comprising at least partially coating the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition with a water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate comprising polyethylene glycol, one or more nonionic surfactants, and a perfume mixture.Firmenich SA

Claims

1. A water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate comprising:i) polyethylene glycol, wherein the polyethylene glycol has a molecular weight of from 4,000 to 12,000,ii) one or more nonionic surfactants, wherein the one or more nonionic surfactants is selected from the group consisting of sucrose esters, C8-C22 alkyl polyglucosides, ethoxylated aliphatic C6-C20 alcohols containing 2 to 30 EO and / or PO units, polyoxyethylene C -Ceo hydroxylesters containing 10 to 40 EO units, C8-C20 mono- and polyglyceryl esters, ethoxylated aliphatic Ce- C20 amines containing 2 to 30 EO and / or PO units, aliphatic C6-C20 carboxylic acid alkanolamides, and any combination thereof, andiii) a perfume mixture, wherein the perfume mixture is present in an amount of 5% to 30%, by weight relative to the total weight of the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate.
2. The water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to claim 1 , wherein the polyethylene glycol has a molecular weight of from 5,000 to 10,000, typically from 6,000 to 8,000.
3. The water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the polyethylene glycol is present in an amount of from 50% to about 99%, typically 70% to 95%, more typically from 75% to 90%, by weight relative to the total weight of the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate.
4. The water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the one or more nonionic surfactants is selected from the group consisting of sucrose esters, C8-C22 alkyl polyglucosides, ethoxylated aliphatic C6-C20 alcohols containing 2 to 30 EO and / or PO units, polyoxyethylene Cie-Ceo hydroxylesters containing 10 to 40 EO units, C8-C20 mono- and polyglyceryl esters, and any combination thereof.
5. The water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the one or more nonionic surfactants comprise a polyethoxylatedFirmenich SAcastor oil triglyceride containing 10 to 40 EO units, typically a polyethoxylated hydrogenated castor oil containing 40 EO units.

The water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to any one of claims 1 to 5, wherein the one or more nonionic surfactants is present in an amount of from 1% to about 20%, typically 1% to 10%, more typically from 2% to 5%, by weight relative to the total weight of the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate.
7. The water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to any one of claims 1 to 6, wherein the perfume mixture is present in an amount of from 5% to 10%, by weight relative to the total weight of the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate.
8. A water-soluble solid composition comprising:a) the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate according to any one of claims 1 to 7; andb) a water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition in the form of a tablet;wherein the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate and the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition are not mixed, and wherein the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate at least partially coats the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition.
9. The water-soluble solid composition according to claim 8, wherein the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition further comprises a second perfume mixture, which is the same as or different from the perfume mixture of the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate.
10. The water-soluble solid composition according to claim 8 or 9, wherein the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition comprises an effervescent system, typically comprising an acid component and an alkali component.
11. The water-soluble solid composition according to any one of claims 8 to 10, wherein the water-soluble solid composition comprises a first and second layer, theFirmenich SAfirst layer comprising the water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate and the second layer comprising the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition.
12. A method for increasing the amount of fragrance provided by a water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition in the form of a tablet, the method comprising at least partially coating the water-soluble solid freshening, cleaning, or detergent composition with a water-soluble solid fragrance concentrate comprising polyethylene glycol, one or more nonionic surfactants, and a perfume mixture.
13. A method for deodorizing, freshening, and / or cleaning a surface or an environment, the method comprising:a) dissolving the water-soluble solid composition according to any one of claims 8 to 11 in water to form a liquid composition, andb) applying the resulting liquid composition to the surface or dispersing the resulting liquid composition to the environment.
