[0001] This utility model patent report refers to a constructive arrangement introduced in ballast for application in the manufacture of caps and packaging for products, as its name suggests, with special application in the sector of manufacture of caps and packaging for cosmetic products, not being restricted only to this sector nor only to these applications.

[0002] The state of the art comprises the use of sintered metal ballast, widely used in the manufacture of caps for cosmetic product packaging. This use of ballast in the cap occurs especially because manufacturers of cosmetic products, particularly liquids or pastes, understand that the weight of their product caps is a factor perceived by their consumers and has a strong influence on the purchase decision process. These ballasts are used by the packaging industry to add weight to the packaging cap, introduced into a hollow chamber in the cap, with dimensions that need to be adjusted to the molds defined for each cap.

[0003] Despite the widespread use of this type of sintered ballast and although it serves its intended purpose, it presents some drawbacks that should be overcome. One of the drawbacks concerns the difficulty of adapting it to the molds defined for each packaging lid, due to the lower malleability of the sintered metal, forcing manufacturers to make design changes to their packaging lids to accommodate the ballast, whose dimensions are not very flexible due to the limitations of the sintering process, which produces parts with various standardized dimensions.

[0004] Another drawback observed concerns the fact that conventional ballast is produced by a sintering process, which consumes a large amount of energy, emits large amounts of carbon in the form of CO2, and implies high production costs, which limits its flexibility in meeting different shapes and weights within the specifications for each cosmetic product packaging.

[0005] Aiming to propose a new solution for packaging lid ballast, cheaper and more sustainable from an environmental and energy point of view, a constructive arrangement was developed that employs a recyclable helical spring as ballast for cosmetic product packaging, the subject of this utility model patent, aiming to provide greater flexibility and adaptability of the ballast to the various lids of cosmetic product packaging, giving them the same weight effect required by their designers and planners.

[0006] Another advantage of the solution proposed here stems from its contribution to reducing the costs and production times of packaging lids, given that the spring-type ballast is produced through a much simpler, faster and cheaper process compared to sintered ballast, allowing for dimensional adjustment within the spaces reserved for its accommodation, significantly simplifying the design and production processes of the packaging.

[0008] In accordance with what is illustrated in the figures mentioned above, the “CONSTRUCTIVE ARRANGEMENT INTRODUCED IN BALLAST FOR APPLICATION IN THE MANUFACTURE OF PRODUCT LIDS AND PACKAGING”, object of this Utility Model Patent, consists of a ballast spring (1), made of iron or steel, inserted inside a product lid or packaging (2), replacing the conventional sintered ballast (3).

[0009] Figure 1 shows a close-up view of a perfume packaging cap (2), highlighting the location for a conventional type of sintered ballast (3).

[0010] In figure 3, the assembly of the spring ballast (1) on the base (4) of a perfume cap is observed. Figure 2 illustrates the cap assembly completely assembled with the outer cover (5) superimposed on the base (4) with the spring ballast (1).
[0011] This descriptive report dealt with a new “CONSTRUCTIVE ARRANGEMENT INTRODUCED IN A BALLAST FOR APPLICATION IN THE MANUFACTURE OF CAPS AND PRODUCT PACKAGING”, presenting, as can be seen from the description and figures presented, some advantages and differentiated applications in relation to existing conventional packaging ballasts.

[0012] Having therefore described and illustrated the best embodiment currently contemplated for the realization of this Utility Model Patent, numerous modifications and variations in its embodiment may be readily introduced by technicians and specialists in the field. However, it is understood that the present utility model is not limited to the practical aspects illustrated and described in this report, encompassing within its scope all obvious variations and modifications not described.

[0013] Due to the advantages it offers and also because it is novel, has industrial application and an inventive step, the solution proposed here fulfills all the requirements and meets the necessary conditions to obtain a Utility Model Patent.

CLAIMS 1.- “CONSTRUCTIVE ARRANGEMENT INTRODUCED IN BALLAST FOR APPLICATION IN THE MANUFACTURE OF LIDS AND PACKAGING OF PRODUCTS”, understood as an object used in the manufacture of lids for cosmetic product packaging to give weight to the lids or various packaging, characterized by employing a ballast spring (1), made of iron or steel, inserted inside a lid or product packaging (2), replacing the conventional sintered ballast (3).
