Antibacterial composition
[0001] This application relates to an antibacterial composition.
[0002] Skin commensal bacteria are microorganisms that normally inhabit the skin, mucous membranes, nasal cavity, oral cavity, pharynx, digestive tract, and genitourinary tract, and play an important role in defense against external pathogens and prevention of infection. For example, skin commensal bacteria secrete glycerin-related substances that give the skin a glossy finish, produce antimicrobial peptides to combat harmful bacteria, and perform overall skin protection functions.
[0003] However, if commensal bacteria on the skin overgrow, it can cause various problems such as acne and damage to the skin barrier. Antimicrobial agents such as salicylic acid have been used to address these issues, but ingredients such as salicylic acid have shown problems such as causing skin irritation, dryness, and allergic reactions.
[0004] Therefore, research and development of antimicrobial compositions based on skin-friendly natural ingredients are necessary to replace conventional antimicrobial agents, such as salicylic acid, while minimizing skin irritation and allergic reactions.
