Abstract
Description
[0001]
[0002] A DELIVERY BOX FIELD OF INVENTION
[0003] The present invention generally relates to storage and delivery application, and in particular, to a delivery box used for storing and delivering products that can also be used as a mobile advertising medium.
[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0005] Delivery is the activity or process of transporting goods from a source location to a destination. Home delivery logistics in e-commerce generally, and in the electronic grocery business in particular, have been booming over the years with the growth of the Internet and mobile computing device. The amount of goods being purchased online has subsequently increased whereby the purchases are often delivered via postal services. Urban deliveries are traditionally carried out with vans or trucks. Such conventional delivery method is particularly inefficient as these vehicles tend to face parking difficulties in dense urban areas. With the increase in urban population density, traffic congestion levels have also increased, negatively affecting truck travel times. As such, the use of motorcycles as a means of express delivery transport is considered timelier and more efficient.
[0006] Motorcycle delivery services equipped with motorcycle delivery boxes are designed overcome the abovementioned challenges by efficiently manoeuvring through congested areas and reaching their destinations swiftly. These boxes are built to securely hold a wide range of items, from documents to small packages to food orders and retail goods. One of the significant advantages of motorcycle delivery boxes is their versatility in terms of sizes and configurations to accommodate different delivery needs.
[0007]
[0008] Technologies related to motorcycle delivery boxes are widely known in the art. For example, International Patent Publication No. WO2022254251A1 discloses a storage and delivery apparatus comprising a housing defining an inner receptacle portion to store product items that is integrated with various electronic components for maintaining the quality and characteristics of the product items stored therein. It is disclosed that the apparatus includes a plurality of connector members for locking and holding a plurality of LED panels for displaying advertisements. Another example is shown in Korean Patent No. KR200436431Y1 which discloses a delivery box for a motorcycle that comprises a frame constructed from a plurality of angle members in which the delivery box is enclosed by transparent cover plates that is supported on the inner side of the angle members. Further, an advertisement sheet to be displayed on the transparent cover plate is provided on the inner surface of the transparent cover plate. An illuminating means comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes is installed so as to be sandwiched between the storage case and the advertisement sheet. Chinese Patent Publication No. CN103129658A also discloses a motorcycle delivery box comprising a frame formed by a plurality of beams, a bottom plate joined to the bottom side of the frame and a door connected to the top side of the frame. Further, an advertising device is included that comprises an advertising board fitted in the concave grooves formed at the opposite ends of the vertical beam and formed on the bottom side of the top horizontal beam and the top side of the bottom horizontal beam in the recessed groove. A substrate having one or more light emitting diodes is fitted to illuminate the top side of the advertising board.
[0009] Conventional delivery boxes are often designed with heavy frames, reinforced beams, and rugged construction to ensure durability and protection of goods during delivery. Whilst these robust designs offer increased resistance to damage and better security, they can cause a major drawback especially for delivery riders. For example, the substantially heavy materials used to construct delivery boxes add significant weight to
[0010]
[0011] the motorcycle, leading to higher fuel consumption and greater physical strain on riders, especially during frequent stops or long hours of delivery. Furthermore, the utilization of LED displays for the purpose of advertisements significantly contribute to the increased weight of delivery boxes. The aforementioned drawbacks are reflected in the above technologies. Due to the robust construction of conventional delivery boxes, repair and maintenance thereof can pose inconvenience, for instance during replacement of the advertisement panels and light sources especially when these components are tucked in the inner edges of the frame.
[0012] As such, there exists a need for a delivery box that is substantially lightweight, easy to assemble and disassemble and has a means for displaying advertisements that are convenient during repair and maintenance. The present invention provides such a solution.

Preferably, the plurality of third lightweight horizontal beams (48) is hollow and made from a substantially lightweight material such as an aluminium material. Alternatively, the lid frame (26) may be a unibody stmcture constmcted or casted by casting the plurality of third lightweight horizontal beams (48) into a mould as a single unitary unit without the plurality of lid comer brackets (49).
[0080] Making reference again to FIG. 6 showing a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the delivery box (1) further comprises a hinge member (27) that is typically disposed on the exterior of the delivery box (1) and serves as a connection mechanism for the lid frame (26) with the main body (12) of the box-like stmcture (2). In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, more than one hinge member (27) can be utilized. In the preferred embodiment, each hinge member (27) has a first hinge leaf (28) and a second hinge leaf (29) that are coupled to the lid frame (26) and the top frame (13) of the boxlike stmcture (2). FIG. 6 illustrates a common profile of the hinge members (27) configured at side comers of the delivery box (1) to couple one of the plurality of first lightweight horizontal beams ( 18) of the top frame (13) with one of the plurality of third lightweight horizontal beams (48) of the lid frame (26). Essentially, this allows the lid frame (26) to pivot relative to the top frame (13) between an open and closed position.
[0081] In a preferred embodiment shown in FIG. 8, the delivery box (1) further comprises a locking mechanism (30) for releasably locking the lid frame (26) to the main body (12)
[0082]
[0083] of the box-like structure (2). The locking mechanism (30) comprises a latch member (31) mounted to the lid frame (26) and a clamp member (32) mounted to the top frame (13) of the main body (12) of the box-like structure (2). By way of example, the clamp member (32) is at least partially gripped onto the latch member (31) and then moved into a position in which the clamp member (21) clamps the locking mechanism (30) tight, thereby locking the lid frame (26) to the main body (12) of the box-like structure (2). As can be seen in FIG. 8, the lid frame (26) comprises a lid panel (40) that is mounted on a top portion of the lid frame (26) which forms a lid of the box-like structure (2). When used with the locking mechanism (30), the lid of the box-like structure (2) is thereby lockable which is configured for restricting access to the closable interior compartment (4) of the box-like structure (2) where the products are stored therein when the lid frame (26) is in a closed position. Similarly, the lid of the box-like structure (2) is configured for providing controlled access to the closable interior compartment (4) when the lid frame (26) is in an open position.
[0084] Making reference now to FIG. 7, the delivery box (1) of the present invention comprises a plurality of wall panels (5) provided externally on the box-like structure (2) for displaying advertisements (6), as best seen in FIG. 8. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of wall panels (5) is coupled to the exterior of the box-like structure (2) and configured to be visible to an onlooker or nearby person during storage and delivery of the products. As such, each wall panel (5) has an outer surface (7) exposed to view of an onlooker or nearby person for the application of advertisements (6). In particular, the outer surface (7) of each wall panel (5) may be configured with fixing means (not shown) used to permanently, semi-permanently, adjustably or non-permanently secure the advertisements (6) thereonto. For example, screws and bolts and rivets may be used to penetrate the wall panel (5), thereby ensuring a firm and permanent attachment of the advertisements (6). Alternatively, adhesive-based fixing means such as adhesive strips and magnetic strips may be used to provide strong and easy attachment of the advertisements (6) onto the relatively smooth outer surface (7)
[0085]
[0086] of the wall panel (5) and removal thereof without residue. Another example may include adjustable fixing means such as Velcro strips and suction cups may be used for allowing removable and repositionable advertisements (6). Clamping or pressure-based fixing means such as spring clips and snap buttons may also be used. Ideally, a combination of any two or more of the aforementioned fixing means may be used, as long as they do not hinder attachment of the advertisements (6) onto the outer surface (7) of the wall panel (5).
[0087] According to another preferred embodiment of the present invention, the plurality of wall panels (5) is also configured with means associated with at least one or more outer surfaces (7) of the wall panel (5) to receive and hold the advertisements (6). Making reference to FIG. 9, the means to receive and hold the advertisements (6) is a pocket (8) configured to receive and hold the advertisements (6) when assembled. In the preferred embodiment, the pocket (8) has an inner surface (not shown) which defines a slot (10) between the outer surface (7) of the wall panel (5) and the inner surface of the pocket (8). The slot (10) is in essence, a hollow interior for holding the advertisements (6). As can be seen in FIG. 9, the pocket (8) is affixed to the outer surface (7) of the wall panel (5) by means of any means of attachment known in the art. For example, the pocket (8) may be bonded onto the outer surface (7) of the wall panel (5). Alternatively, the pocket (8) may be joined with the outer surface (7) of the wall panel (5) using conventional screw and bolt. In the preferred embodiment, the pocket (8) has an opening (11) thereinto for slidably receiving within and removing the advertisements (6) from the slot (10) through the opening (11). In this way, the advertisements (6) can be changed or swapped desirably depending on the application and usage. Advantageously, this eliminates the use of adhesive for applying the advertisements (6) on the outer surface (7) of the wall panel (5) which can be beneficial in terms of maintenance cost in the long run.
[0088] According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the delivery box (1)
[0089]
[0090] comprises one or more light sources (9) for illumination of the wall panels (5) and the advertisements (6) carried thereby. In the preferred embodiment, the one or more light sources (9) are arranged on inner and outer surfaces of the box-like structure (2). As can be seen in FIG. 10, the one or more light sources (9) are arranged to extend along the length of the top frame (13), bottom frame (19) and lightweight vertical beams (25), for example on the interior side of the box-like structure (2), in other words, in the closable interior compartment (4). In a preferred embodiment, the one or more light sources (9) are a light-emitting diode (LED) light strip, an LED neon strip or liquid crystal display (LCD) strip. Ideally, the one or more light sources (9) are sufficient to provide uniform brightness on the wall panels (5). As such, the one or more light sources (9) provides illumination of advertisements (6) of different aspects related to the products or the associated organization that may be supplying or delivering the products. For example, the light sources (6) may be operated using either one or more energy sources by way and means during the ignition of the motorcycle, a time sensitive sensor that automatically operates the light sources (6) using a pre-configured timer module, and a light sensor, which will be described later, automatically provides illumination during the absence of daylight.
[0091] The present invention offers a delivery box (1) incorporating static advertisements as a safer alternative to modem liquid crystal display (LCD) advertising means. In certain jurisdictions, the use of moving advertisements via LCDs on vehicles is subject to legal restrictions due to potential road safety hazards, as dynamic or flashing content may distract drivers and increase the risk of accidents. Advantageously, the delivery box (1) of the present invention employs a simplified yet effective static advertising system, consisting of pocket means (8) designed to securely receive and hold advertisements (6). Additionally, the light sources (9) are strategically arranged on both the inner and outer surfaces of the box-like structure (2) to provide controlled illumination for the wall panels (5) and the advertisements (6) displayed thereon. Unlike LCD-based advertisements, the static advertisements integrated into the delivery box (1) remain
[0092]
[0093] fixed, non-flashing, and non-distracting, thereby enhancing road safety. Furthermore, the light emission from the delivery box (1) is maintained at a minimal level — within regulatory limits, thereby ensuring that only the wall panels (5) and advertisements (6) are illuminated without causing excessive glare or visual obstruction to road users. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, electronic devices may be provided to the delivery box ( 1) to monitor and regulate ambient conditions of in the closable interior compartment (4) of the box-like structure (2) based on the storage requirements. Referring to FIG. 11, the lid frame (26) further comprises an arrangement of electronic components (33) that are mounted on a bottom portion of thereof. For example, the electronic components (33) may be embedded in the bottom portion of the lid frame (26).
