[0001] Sprinkler protection and rack storage
[0002] DESCRIPTION:
[0003] The invention relates to a sprinkler guard for a rack storage system, comprising a protective component for a sprinkler head, which has at least one protective bracket extending in the area of the sprinkler head when installed, and at least one storage component for storing the sprinkler guard, wherein the storage component has at least one fastening element designed to be attached to a rack beam of the rack storage system. The invention further relates to a rack storage system with such a sprinkler guard.
[0004] Protective devices for sprinkler heads are already known from the publications DE 102007013538 A1 and DE 102008046996 A1, but these are complex to install and require, for example, a screw connection to a shelf or storage on the extinguishing agent line of the sprinkler system.
[0005] It is therefore an object of the invention to provide sprinkler protection for a rack storage system that can be installed particularly easily and non-destructively in a reversible manner. Furthermore, it is an object of the invention to provide a rack storage system with corresponding sprinkler protection.
[0006] The problem is solved by a sprinkler guard with the features of claim 1 and by a rack storage system with the features of claim 6. Advantageous embodiments with expedient further developments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims. The sprinkler guard according to the invention for a rack storage system comprises a protective component for protecting a sprinkler head, which has at least one protective bracket that extends in the area of the sprinkler head when installed. Furthermore, the sprinkler guard comprises at least one storage component for storing the sprinkler guard, wherein the storage component has at least one fastening element designed to be attached to a rack beam of the rack storage system. Thus, a sprinkler guard that is particularly easy to install is provided and can also be easily retrofitted into existing rack storage systems.
[0007] It is possible that the fastening element is designed as a receptacle to at least partially grip a shelf beam of the racking system.
[0008] Preferably, the bearing component and the protective component are screwed together. This allows for quick and reversible fastening of the bearing component and the protective component.
[0009] In one embodiment of the invention, an adapter component is provided that can be screwed to the bearing component, wherein the protective component can be screwed to either only the adapter component or both the adapter component and the bearing component. The adapter allows for flexible attachment of the protective component, thus increasing the application range of the sprinkler protection.
[0010] Preferably, several protective brackets are present, with struts running between them. This ensures comprehensive protection of the sprinkler head, with the struts providing additional stability to the sprinkler guard.
[0011] It is advantageously provided that the bearing component has at least one flange projecting from the mounting element forming the receptacle, with at least one bore. This allows for particularly simple mounting on the flange projecting from the receptacle, whereby the receptacle engages a shelf beam and thus an additional mounting surface is provided by the flange.
[0012] In one embodiment of the invention, at least one coupling element is provided for attaching a pipe carrying the sprinkler head to the support component and / or to the protective component. The coupling element enables a connection between the sprinkler guard and the sprinkler head, allowing the sprinkler head mounted on the pipe to move with the sprinkler guard. This is significant because the shelf beam bends when goods are stored and retrieved, resulting in relative movement between the pipe and the support component.
[0013] It is advantageously provided that the coupling element allows for axial positioning of the conductor within the protective component by means of at least one clamp and / or a U-bracket. This enables the coupling element to be mounted flexibly and reversibly without damage.
[0014] To allow for even greater flexibility in the assembly of the coupling element, the coupling element includes a spacer that holds the line at a predefined or adjustable distance to the bearing component and / or the protective component.
[0015] The rack storage system according to the invention comprises a sprinkler head, at least one rack beam, and a sprinkler guard according to the invention. The advantages, advantageous configurations, and effects mentioned above in connection with the sprinkler guard also apply to the rack storage system according to the invention.
[0016] Preferably, the mounting element of the storage component, which is designed as a receptacle, at least partially surrounds the shelf beam. This allows for particularly easy storage and installation of the sprinkler guard on the shelf beam of the racking system.
[0017] It is particularly advantageous that the fastening between the storage component and the shelf beams is non-destructive, reversible, and free of screws. This also allows for particularly easy installation of the sprinkler guard and additionally ensures that the shelf beam does not need to be damaged for installation, thus preserving the load-bearing structure of the shelf beam.
[0018] Preferably, the protective cage forms a cage around the sprinkler head. This protects the sprinkler head from all sides.
[0019] In one embodiment of the invention, the sprinkler guard extends between two of the shelf beams, being oriented orthogonally or at an acute angle to the shelf beams. It is also possible for the sprinkler guard to be oriented at a 45° angle to the shelf beams. While the orthogonal arrangement of the sprinkler guard between the two shelf beams allows for particularly simple assembly and manufacture, the arrangement of the sprinkler guard at an acute angle, preferably at a 45° angle, facilitates the arrangement of multiple sprinkler guards in a racking system comprising a plurality of shelf beams for adjacent shelf compartments.
[0020] The features and combinations of features mentioned above in the description, as well as those subsequently mentioned in the figure description and / or shown in the figures alone, can be used not only in the combinations specified, but also in other combinations or on their own, without departing from the scope of the invention. Thus, embodiments that are not explicitly shown or explained in the figures, but which can be derived and generated from the explained embodiments by separate combinations of features, are also to be considered as encompassed and disclosed by the invention.

[0039] Fig. 13 shows a simplified schematic top view of a rack storage system.
[0040] Figures 1 and 2 each show a section of a rack storage system 102 with a first embodiment of a sprinkler system 100. The rack storage system 102 comprises two rack beams 114 and a sprinkler head 106, which is fluidically connected to a line 126 that supplies the sprinkler head 106 with an extinguishing agent, so that in the event of a fire, goods stored in the rack storage system are extinguished. In the embodiment shown, the sprinkler head 106 is located centrally between the two rack beams 114. However, it is also possible for the sprinkler head 106 to be arranged off-center.
[0041] The sprinkler guard 100 comprises a support component 110, which, in the illustrated embodiment, has two receptacles 112 that grip the uprights 114 of the racking system 102 from above, so that the support component 110, which is designed to support the (actual) sprinkler guard 100, rests on the uprights 114. The receptacles 112 are designed to abut the uprights 114 on three sides. The receptacles 112 of the support component 110 thus grip the uprights 114 from above, although gripping from another direction is possible, i.e., from below, left, or right. The fastening between the support component 110 and the uprights 114 is non-destructively reversible and free of screws.
[0042] Alternatively, instead of the configuration of the bearing component 110 shown here, it is possible that the bearing component 110 has a larger U-shaped cross-section. It is also possible that the bearing component 110 completely encloses the shelf beam 114. Both alternatives contribute to an even better fastening.
[0043] In the embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, the bearing component 110 is formed as a beam extending between the two receptacles 112, which are connected to the shelf beam 114. This can be achieved, for example, by a welded connection between the receptacles 112 and the beam of the bearing component 110.
[0044] The sprinkler guard 100 comprises a protective component 104 for the sprinkler head 106, which is connected to the mounting component 110, in particular by means of four screw connections 124. In the illustrated embodiment, the protective component 104 has two mounting sections 128, which in this case have a pipe clamp shape. Two protective brackets 108 extend between the semicircular parts of the two mounting sections 128, forming a U-shape around the sprinkler head 106. The two protective brackets 108 are arranged at an angle to each other on the semicircular part of the mounting section 128, with three struts 118 extending between the two protective brackets 108 to increase the stability of the cage formed by the protective brackets 108.
[0045] Figures 1 and 2 also show that, in the illustrated embodiment, the sprinkler guard 100 extends between the two shelf beams 114, being oriented orthogonally to the shelf beams 114. However, it is also possible for the sprinkler guard 100 to be oriented at an acute angle, preferably at a 45° angle, to the shelf beams. An arrangement of the sprinkler guard 100 at a 45° angle allows for a staggered arrangement of the sprinkler guards 100 when several sprinkler guards 100 need to be stored in a larger rack storage system 102 with multiple sprinkler heads 106 to be protected.
[0046] This is illustrated in Figure 13, where three shelf compartments are formed by four shelf beams 114. Each shelf compartment has a sprinkler head 106, which, viewed from above, is centrally located within the shelf compartment. The arrangement of the sprinkler guards 100 at an acute angle, preferably at a 45° angle, makes it possible to provide corresponding sprinkler guards 100 even in such a rack storage system 102. An arrangement of the sprinkler guards 100 orthogonal to the shelf beams 114 would only be possible with additional effort, as the mountings 112 would then obstruct each other.
[0047] Figures 3 and 4 show a second embodiment of the rack storage system 102 with a second embodiment of the sprinkler guard 100. In this embodiment, the rack beams 114 of the rack storage system 102 are arranged closer together than in the case of Figures 1 and 2, with the sprinkler head 106 located centrally between the rack beams 114. The sprinkler guard 100 in this second embodiment differs from the first embodiment in the design of the storage component 110 and the protective component 104.
[0048] Essentially, the sprinkler guard 100 is designed in two parts, with the bearing component 110 encompassing the shelf beams 114. It can be seen that the bearing component 110 rests completely against the shelf beams 114 on three sides. Only on the surfaces of the shelf beams 114 facing the sprinkler head 106 does the bearing component 110 rest only partially against them, with a first flange 120 extending from this section. A second flange 120 extends on the opposite side of the bearing component 110, i.e., on the underside of the bearing component 110 as shown in Fig. 4. The bearing component 110 thus encloses the shelf beam 114 from three sides, with the protective component 104, which is screwed to the bearing component 110, completely enclosing the shelf beam 114 together with the bearing component 110.
[0049] Two of the mounting sections 128 rest on the surfaces of the guide beams 114 facing the sprinkler head 106. Two protective brackets 108 extend between the two mounting sections 128 and, in the illustrated embodiment, run parallel to each other below the sprinkler head 106. The two protective brackets 108 project from the mounting sections 128 at a 45° angle and run orthogonally to the surface of the mounting section 128 below the sprinkler head 106. A strut 118 runs centrally between the two protective brackets 108, parallel to the conduit 126. In this embodiment, there are therefore two bearing components 110 and one protective component 104, with the protective component 104 being arranged between the two bearing components 110.
[0050] The fastening sections 128 have a U-shape. In other words, mating flanges 130 protrude from the fastening sections 128. The bearing components 110 are connected to the protective component 104 by means of these mating flanges 130, specifically via eight screw connections 124. Of course, a different number of screw connections 124 can be provided, e.g., only four screw connections 124.
[0051] Figures 5 and 6 show a third embodiment of the rack storage system 102 with a third embodiment of the sprinkler protection system 100. In this embodiment, there is only one rack beam 114, next to which the pipe 126 with the sprinkler head 106 attached to it runs.
[0052] In this embodiment, the sprinkler guard 100 is essentially constructed like the sprinkler guard 100 of the second embodiment, so only the differences will be discussed below. In the third embodiment, there is only a single bearing component 110. Two protective brackets 108 now protrude from the mounting section 128 of the protective component 104, initially extending like the protective brackets 108 from the second embodiment. Instead of transitioning into another mounting section 128, the protective brackets 108 in this embodiment extend in a mirrored manner above the sprinkler head 106 and the pipe 126 back into the mounting section 128, with three of the struts 118 being provided.
[0053] Figures 7 and 8 show a fourth embodiment of the rack storage system 102 with a fourth embodiment of the sprinkler protection system 100.
[0054] In this embodiment, two adapter components 116 are provided which, together with the two bearing components 110, enclose the two shelf beams 114, with the protective component 104 being screwed to the underside of the bearing components 110 together with the adapter components 116. Thus, in this embodiment, there are two bearing components 110, two adapter components 116, and one protective component 104.
[0055] The protective component 104 is essentially designed as in the first embodiment, and the adapter components 116 are identical to the fastening section 128 of the second and third embodiments of the sprinkler guard 100. However, in this embodiment, only a single strut 118 is provided. The protective component 104 is connected to the two adapter components 116 by means of its two fastening sections 128, in particular by means of four screws 124, the screws 124 each extending through bores 122 in the lower flange 120 of the bearing component 110. The lower flange 120 of the bearing component 110 is thus arranged between the protective component 104 and the adapter component 116.
[0056] Figures 9 and 10 show a fifth embodiment of the rack storage system 102 with a fifth embodiment of the sprinkler guard 100, wherein the adapter components 116 each have an extended flange 132 on one side, here on the upper side, which extends towards the sprinkler head 106, the two flanges 132 overlapping and the protective component 104 being screwed into the two overlapping flanges 132 of the adapter components 116. The protective component 104 is identical in construction to the first embodiment of the sprinkler guard 100, with the storage components 104 being identical to those of the second, third and fourth embodiments of the sprinkler guard 100.
[0057] Figures 9a and 10a show different variants of a coupling element 134 based on the fifth embodiment of the sprinkler guard 100. The dashed line illustrates the adjustment when a force is exerted on the bearing component 110 by stored material, causing it to deflect downwards. Figure 10a shows the case of an asymmetrical force, which can result in an exaggerated twisting motion. It can be seen that in a first variant, the coupling element 134 consists of a clamp 136 and two spacers 140. The lower spacer 140 maintains a predefined distance between the pipe and the guard component, while the upper spacer 140 maintains an adjustable distance to the adapter component 116 via a screw connection. Furthermore, the clamp is closed around the pipe by means of a screw connection.Another variation of the coupling element is achieved via a U-bracket, which is mounted directly to the adapter component 116 with two screws.
[0058] Figure 11 shows the bearing component 100 according to the second to fifth embodiments, showing that the bearing component 110 is essentially U-shaped and forms a receptacle 112 for the shelf beam 114, with flanges 120 extending from both sides of the receptacle 112, each of which has two bores 122 in the illustrated embodiment. It can be seen that on one side, the top side in Figure 11, the bearing component 110 has a shoulder, while the other side of the bearing component 110, i.e., the bottom side, is continuously straight.Figure 12 shows a protective component 104 according to the third embodiment of the sprinkler guard 100, in which it can be seen that two protective brackets 108 protrude from the fastening section 128 of the protective component 104, and that the fastening section 128 of the protective component 104 has two counter flanges 130, which also have two bores 122, so that the protective component 104 can be screwed to the flange 120 of a bearing component 110 by means of the counter flanges 130 and the bores 122.
[0059] Such a sprinkler guard 100 allows for non-destructive, reversible, and screwless attachment of the sprinkler guard 100 to a shelf beam 114, so that the supporting structure of the shelf beam 114 is not damaged by welding or screwing. Furthermore, such a sprinkler guard 100 allows for particularly simple and quick installation, as the mounting components 110 simply need to be slid or clipped on, and then the protective components 104 or the adapter components 116 need to be screwed onto the mounting components 110, which can be accomplished in just a few steps.
