Description

Terminal and Method

[0001] The present invention relates to a terminal and a method for processing fraudulent calls.

[0002] Patent Document 1 describes that it is determined from the call content of a mobile phone body whether there is a possibility that the incoming call from the other party is transfer fraud, and if it is determined that there is such a possibility, an SMS message for automatically requesting notification and confirmation is transmitted to the mobile phones of pre-registered relatives or acquaintances.

[0003] Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 2018-88668

[0004] However, there are cases where the notification destination does not notice the reception of the SMS (Short Message Service). Therefore, even if the notification is received, there is a problem that the user cannot respond to the fraudulent call.

[0005] Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to provide a terminal and a method that improve the noticeability of notifications of occurrence of a specific act such as a fraudulent call.

[0006] The terminal of the present disclosure includes: a call unit that conducts a call with a communication partner; a determination unit that determines, based on the call, that the call is a specific act; and a notification unit that transmits notification information to a pre-registered destination when it is determined that the call is the specific act, wherein the notification unit performs repeated notification control based on preset setting information.

[0007] According to the present disclosure, it is possible to improve the noticeability of notifications of occurrence of a specific act such as a fraudulent call.

[0008] Figure 1 is a conceptual diagram showing the notification process of this disclosure. Figure 2 is a block diagram showing the functional configuration of the user terminal 100 of this disclosure. Figure 3 is a diagram showing registration information and setting information. Figure 4 is a diagram showing the setting information confirmation screen and its setting screen. Figure 5 is a flowchart showing the operation of the user terminal 100 of this disclosure. Figure 6 is a flowchart showing the detailed operation of call destination confirmation control by notification in process S103. Figure 7 is a flowchart showing the detailed operation of repeated notification control. Figure 8 is a diagram showing the display screen of the user terminal 200 that has received a notification transmitted from the user terminal 100. Figure 9 is a diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of the user terminal 100 according to one embodiment of this disclosure.

[0009] Embodiments of this disclosure will be described with reference to the attached drawings. Where possible, the same parts will be denoted by the same reference numerals, and redundant descriptions will be omitted.

[0010] Figure 1 is a conceptual diagram illustrating the notification process of this disclosure. As shown in Figure 1, criminal A is making a fraudulent call to a potential victim. The potential victim, who is a user, is making the call using user terminal 100. Here, user terminal 100 forwards the voice call to voice analysis AI 300, which analyzes the content of the call to determine whether or not it is a fraudulent call. If voice analysis AI 300 determines that it is a fraudulent call, it notifies user terminal 100 to that effect. If voice analysis AI 300 determines that it is not a fraudulent call, it notifies user terminal 100 to that effect.

[0011] In this disclosure, the voice analysis AI 300 determines that a call is fraudulent if it contains predetermined keywords. These predetermined keywords may include "urgent," "right now," "personal information," "bank account," and "password," but other keywords may also be used. In addition, the voice analysis AI 300 may determine whether the call content is fraudulent based on a pre-trained recognition model, taking into account tone, speaking speed, and other aspects of speech.

[0012] Alternatively, instead of transferring audio to the voice analysis AI 300, the user terminal 100 may perform voice recognition and transfer the resulting text data. Furthermore, the user terminal 100 may incorporate a voice analysis AI 300 that makes decisions based on the audio or its text data.

[0013] When user terminal 100 receives notification that a call is fraudulent, it automatically sends an SMS message to the user terminal 200 of a relative (another user) of the potential victim indicating that the call is fraudulent.

[0014] By receiving the SMS message on the user terminal 200, a family member of the victim can learn that a potential victim is likely to become a victim.

[0015] In this disclosure, the user terminal 100 can increase the likelihood of the victim's family members becoming aware of the situation by sending multiple SMS messages. The diagram shows that SMSn1, SMSn2, and SMSn3 are sent three times at predetermined intervals.

[0016] Figure 2 is a block diagram showing the functional configuration of the user terminal 100 of this disclosure. As shown in the figure, the user terminal 100 is composed of a call unit 101, a determination unit 102, a notification unit 103, a registration information storage unit 104, a setting information storage unit 105, and a display unit 106. In addition, it may be equipped with a predefined text storage unit, which is not shown.

[0017] The call unit 101 is the part that performs processing for the user to make a call with the other party. In this disclosure, the potential victim makes a call with criminal A's terminal via the call unit 101.

[0018] The determination unit 102 is the part that determines the content of the conversation being conducted by the call unit 101. This determination unit 102 transmits the conversation content (voice) to the voice analysis AI 300 and has it determine whether or not it is a fraudulent call. The determination unit 102 receives the analysis result from the voice analysis AI 300 and sends a notification to the notification unit 103.

[0019] The notification unit 103 is responsible for sending an SMS message to a designated recipient informing them that they are receiving a fraudulent call. More specifically, when the notification unit 103 receives an analysis result from the judgment unit 102 indicating that it is receiving a fraudulent call, it generates an SMS message informing the recipient and sends it to a recipient stored in the registration information storage unit 104. The notification unit 103 also performs repetitive control according to the setting information stored in the setting information storage unit 105. This SMS message is based on a standard message template and is based on information stored in advance in a standard message template storage unit (not shown). The notification unit 103 retrieves a standard message template from the standard message template storage unit and generates it as an SMS message.

[0020] The registration information storage unit 104 is the part that stores destination information (such as a telephone number) of a user terminal 200 that is set as a relative of a potential victim. Figure 3(a) shows a specific example of the registration information. As shown in the figure, a telephone number is registered as the destination for sending SMS. In the case of email, an email address is registered. When batch processing is performed, the identification information of the user terminal is registered. In this disclosure, batch processing means push notification.

[0021] The setting information storage unit 105 is the part that stores setting information for repeated notification control. Figure 3(b) shows a specific example of setting information. As shown in the figure, the repeat count setting value and the repeat interval time setting value are stored.

[0022] Figure 4 shows a confirmation screen for setting information stored in the setting information storage unit 105 of the user terminal 100, and the setting screen. The user terminal 100 is equipped with a display unit 106, which displays the confirmation screen and the setting screen. Figure 4(a) shows a confirmation screen where the notification repetition setting is set to: number of repetitions: 3, repetition interval time: 5 seconds. The user can see this to confirm the number of repetitions and the repetition interval time.

[0023] Figures 4(b) and 4(c) show the notification repetition count setting screen and the notification repetition interval time setting screen. As shown in Figures 4(b) and 4(c), the user can select the number of repetitions and the interval time using a time picker mechanism.

[0024] The display unit 106 is, for example, a touch panel display, and is a part that has operation and display functions. The display unit 106 displays SMS registration information and setting information, and also accepts input operations for registration information and setting information.

[0025] Figure 5 is a flowchart illustrating the operation of the user terminal 100 of this disclosure. When the call unit 101 is communicating with another terminal (for example, the terminal of criminal A) (S101: YES), the judgment unit 102 determines whether the call content is suspicious or not (S102). In processing S101, the call content from the call unit 101 is output from the user's earpiece and also transferred to the voice analysis AI 300. The voice analysis AI 300 determines from the call content whether it is suspicious or not, and transmits the analysis result (suspected or not suspected of fraud) to the judgment unit 102.

[0026] Then, the judgment unit 102 receives the analysis results from the voice analysis AI 300 and, if it determines that there is a suspicion of fraud (S102: YES), the notification unit 103 performs call recipient confirmation control via notification (S103). If the judgment unit 102 determines that there is no suspicion of fraud (S102: NO), it does not perform notification recipient confirmation control.

[0027] Figure 6 is a flowchart detailing the operation of the call destination confirmation control by notification in process S103. The notification unit 103 refers to the registered information of the notification destination in the registered information storage unit 104 (S103a). If the notification unit 103 determines that there is registered information for the notification destination (S103b: YES), it performs repeated notification control (S103c). Repeated notification control, as will be described in detail later, is a control that performs repeated notifications to make it easier for the notification destination to notice the notification. If the notification unit 103 determines that there is no registered information for the notification destination (S103b: NO), the user terminal 100 terminates its operation and continues call processing.

[0028] Figure 7 is a flowchart showing the detailed operation of the repetition notification control. The notification unit 103 refers to the setting information storage unit 105 to obtain the set value for the number of repetitions (S201). The notification unit 103 also refers to the setting information storage unit 105 to obtain the set value for the repetition interval time (S202). The notification unit 103 starts the repetition interval time timer (S203).

[0029] The notification unit 103 then sends a notification to the user terminal 200 designated according to the registration information, indicating that the potential victim may be the victim of a fraudulent call (S204). This notification indicates that an SMS will be sent.

[0030] The notification unit 103 increments and stores the number of repetitions n (S205). The notification unit 103 determines whether the repeat timer has timed up or not (S206). The repeat timer counts time based on the set repeat interval time value and continues to count until that time is reached (S206: NO). When the repeat timer reaches that time (S206: YES), the notification unit 103 further determines whether the number of repetitions n has reached the set repeat count value (S207). If the notification unit 103 determines that it has not reached the set repeat count value (S207: NO), it starts the timer again for the repeat interval time (S203). If it determines that the set repeat count value has been reached (S207: YES), it terminates the process.

[0031] In this manner, the user terminal 100 of this disclosure sends notifications to registered recipients at time intervals based on the set repetition interval, indicating that the user may have been a victim of fraud, a number of times based on the set repetition count. As a result, the notifications are repeatedly sent to user terminal 200, which is set as a family member of the victim, allowing that family member to become aware that they may have been a victim.

[0032] In addition, during processing S204, the notification method may be changed, with the first iteration being a notification via SMS, the second being a notification via email, and the third being a notification via batch processing.

[0033] Furthermore, in process S102 of Figure 5, in addition to determining whether the call content is fraudulent, the notification method or message content may be changed, or the number of repetitions or the repetition interval may be changed, based on its importance (magnitude of damage) or the likelihood of it being fraudulent. The higher the importance or the higher the likelihood, the more repetitions should be made and the shorter the repetition interval. In that case, the order in which the notification methods used may also be changed according to the importance. For example, if it is determined to be important, the first notification may be sent via SMS, the second via email, and the third via batch processing.

[0034] Figure 8 shows the display screen of user terminal 200 after receiving a notification sent from user terminal 100. Figure 8(a) shows the display screen of user terminal 200 after receiving an SMS notification. The message displayed here reads, "Please call Mr. / Ms. XX immediately. You may have received a scam call!" As mentioned above, this message is an SMS based on information stored in the standard message memory unit.

[0035] Figure 8(b) shows the display screen of the user terminal 200 that received a notification via email. In the case of email, the subject field displays the word "Urgent." This is information added by the notification unit 103 of the user terminal 100 when generating the message. Similar to SMS, email messages are also generated based on information stored in the standard message memory unit.

[0036] Figure 8(c) shows a display screen based on batch notifications. In this disclosure, batch notifications refer to so-called push notifications. User terminal 100 sends identification information of user terminal 200 to the server, which then sends a push notification to the destination user terminal 200 corresponding to that identification information. More specifically, it is as follows: A notification application (program) installed on user terminal 100 first sends a control signal other than SMS or email to the server. The server then sends it to user terminal 200, and a notification receiving application (program) installed on user terminal 200 receives the control signal and displays a predetermined message. This notification receiving application has the function of reading a predetermined message that has been stored in advance and displaying the message when it receives a predetermined control signal. It is also possible to change the message displayed by the application on the receiving terminal based on the instruction information contained in the control signal.

[0037] As described above, several types of notification methods are possible, but of course, other notification methods may also be adopted.

[0038] Next, the operation and effects of the user terminal 100 in this disclosure will be explained. In this disclosure, the call unit 101 makes a call with the user terminal 200, which is the communication partner. That is, the user makes a call with the communication partner using the call unit 101. The determination unit 102 then determines, based on the call, that it is a specific act. In this disclosure, a specific act is defined as a fraudulent act, but it may of course include other acts as well. For example, nuisance calls or sales calls. When the notification unit 103 determines that it is a specific act, it sends notification information to a destination that has been registered in advance. This notification unit 103 performs repeated notification control based on pre-set configuration information. The notification unit 103 sends notification information while a call is being made using the call unit 101.

[0039] In this disclosure, the configuration information includes the number of times the notification information is repeated. In addition, the configuration information may also include the interval time between repetitions of the notification information.

[0040] With this configuration, if a user (potential victim) has made (or received) a call containing fraudulent activity, the user terminal 100 can automatically send notification information to the recipients according to the registered information. Other users (family members of the victim) who receive the notification information can become aware that the user has been scammed. These other users can then contact the user by phone or other means to prevent them from becoming victims of fraud.

[0041] Traditionally, malicious users (criminal A, their accomplices, etc.) would attempt to prevent one user from contacting another by making separate phone calls to other users. However, this disclosure allows for the detection of fraud during a call and subsequent communication via SMS, thus preventing such malicious users from making calls to other users immediately after a fraudulent call. Furthermore, repeated notification control makes it easier for other users to become aware of specific activity.

[0042] Naturally, it's not possible to send all notifications during a call. If the fraudulent call is short, a notification will be sent only the first time; subsequent notifications will be sent after the call has finished.

[0043] Furthermore, in this disclosure, the notification unit 103 may select one setting from a plurality of setting information according to the importance of a specific action and perform repeated notification control based on that one setting information. This setting information is set to have a large number of repetitions of the notification information according to its importance. The notification interval may also be shortened.

[0044] Furthermore, the notification unit 103 may perform repeated notification control by at least one notification means among notification by SMS, notification by e-mail, and notification by an application. The notification unit 103 also selects at least one notification means among notification by SMS, notification by e-mail, and notification by an application in accordance with the importance level of the specific action, and performs repeated notification control. Further, the notification unit 103 may select the notification by said SMS, the notification by said e-mail, or the notification by said application in a predetermined order corresponding to the importance level of the specific action, and perform repeated notification control by said notification means.

[0045] According to this configuration, notification can be provided in accordance with the importance level of a specific action such as fraud. For example, the importance level indicates the possibility of fraud, but may also include other factors. For example, it may be the scale of fraud damage. When the voice analysis AI 300 determines that the possibility of fraud is high and the scale of fraud damage is large, it is preferable to select an appropriate notification means that is considered to be highly noticeable. Further, the notification means for performing repeated notification control may be changed in order.

[0046] The voice analysis AI 300 is configured to determine the scale of fraud damage. For example, when it is determined that the transfer amount is 1,000,000 yen or more, it may determine that the fraud damage is large. This determination can be made by recognizing the amount through voice recognition. In the present disclosure, the user terminal 100 improves noticeability on the user terminal 200 side by performing repeated notification control. Alternatively, the user terminal 200 may automatically issue incoming call notifications a plurality of times, or may sound a ringtone for a long period of time when receiving an SMS or e-mail. In this case, in addition to the aforementioned notification (such as SMS), the user terminal 100 transmits information indicating the ringing duration of the ringtone. The user terminal 200 side operates to perform corresponding processing.

[0047] In the present disclosure, the apparatus and method of the user terminal 100 includes the following configurations.

[0084] A mobile station may also be referred to by those skilled in the art as a subscriber station, mobile unit, subscriber unit, wireless unit, remote unit, mobile device, wireless device, wireless communication device, remote device, mobile subscriber station, access terminal, mobile terminal, wireless terminal, remote terminal, handset, user agent, mobile client, client, or some other appropriate term.

[0085] As used in this disclosure, the terms “determining” and “determining” may encompass a wide variety of actions. “Determining” may include, for example, judging, calculating, computing, processing, deriving, investigating, looking up, searching, or inquiring (e.g., searching in a table, database, or other data structure), or ascertaining. “Determining” may also include, for example, receiving (e.g., receiving information), transmitting (e.g., sending information), inputting, outputting, or accessing (e.g., accessing data in memory). Furthermore, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after resolving, selecting, choosing, establishing, comparing, etc. In other words, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after some action. Also, "judgment (decision)" can be reinterpreted as "assuming," "expecting," or "considering."

[0086] The terms “connected,” “coupled,” or any variation thereof, mean any direct or indirect connection or coupling between two or more elements, and may include the presence of one or more intermediate elements between two elements that are “connected” or “coupled” with each other. The coupling or connection between elements may be physical, logical, or a combination thereof. For example, “connection” may be reinterpreted as “access.” As used in this disclosure, two elements may be considered to be “connected” or “coupled” with each other using at least one of one or more wires, cables, and printed electrical connections, and, in some non-limiting and non-exclusive examples, electromagnetic energy having wavelengths in the radio frequency domain, microwave domain, and optical (both visible and invisible) domain.

[0087] In this disclosure, the phrase "based on" does not mean "based solely on" unless otherwise specified. In other words, the phrase "based on" means both "based solely on" and "based at least on."

[0088] Any reference to elements using designations such as “first,” “second,” etc., as used in this disclosure does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. These designations may be used in this disclosure as a convenient way to distinguish between two or more elements. Accordingly, references to first and second elements do not imply that only two elements may be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in any way.

[0089] Where the terms “include,” “including,” and their variations are used in this disclosure, these terms are intended to be inclusive, as is the term “comprising.” Furthermore, the term “or” as used in this disclosure is not intended to be exclusive OR.
