[0394] DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0395] Reference will now be made in detail to the various embodiments, one or more examples of which are illustrated in the figures. Within the following description of the drawings, the same reference numbers may refer to same components. Generally, only the differences with respect to individual embodiments may be described. Each example may be provided by way of explanation and is not meant as a limitation. Further, features illustrated or described as part of one embodiment can be used on or in conjunction with other embodiments to yield yet a further embodiment. It is intended that the description includes such modifications and variations.

[0396] The drawings are schematic drawings which are not drawn to scale. Some elements in the drawings may have dimensions which are exaggerated for the purpose of highlighting aspects of the present disclosure and / or for the sake of clarity of presentation.

[0397] For mobility purposes, e.g. for a mobility procedure and / or carrier aggregation purposes, one or more measurement(s) may be configured for an apparatus, e.g. a User Equipment (UE), in particular while being connected to at least one cell. A "mobility procedure" may be regarded as or may refer to a process of transitioning, switching or changing an apparatus, in particular a UE, from one network entity (e.g. a cell, beam, transmission reception point, or access point)to another network entity, in particular to maintain seamless connectivity. Mobility may be to ensure communication as users move across different coverage areas. It may prevent call drops and / or data session interruptions. Mobility procedure(s) may also be referred to as cell transition / switch / change procedure(s). Non-limiting examples for a mobility procedure is a handover (HO), which may occur in a higher layer(s), e.g. Layer 3 (L3) and / or a cell switch or cell change, which may occur in lower layers, e.g. Layer 1 (L1) / Layer 2 (L2). "Lower Layer Triggered Mobility” "(LTM) or "Layer 1 (L1) / Layer 2 (L2) Triggered Mobility" may refer to a particular mobility procedure, e.g. initiated in a cellular network based on events and / or measurements detected at lower layers of a protocol stack - for example, a physical layer or Layer 1 and / or a data link layer or Layer 2 or MAC layer etc. LTM may provide mechanisms, e.g. for a network node and UE, to address mobility needs, complementing, e.g., higher-layer (e.g. Layer 3 or Radio Resource Control (RRC)) mobility processes.

[0398] Mobility procedures, e.g. as exemplarily mentioned above, may have associated measurement(s) and / or reporting(s) and, in particular consequently triggered mobility based on such measurement(s) and / or reporting. These measurements may include for example cell measurement(s) and / or reporting.

[0399] A non-limiting example in the context of LTM for at least one cell measurement may be a Layer 1 (L1) measurement. L1 measurement(s) may include physical-layer measurement(s) to evaluate radio conditions. These measurements may involve assessing signal strength, quality, and / or other parameters, e.g. of reference signal(s) transmitted by a network node, e.g. using one or more beams. However, it should be noted that these may also be applied or applicable without the concept of using one or more beams. L1 measurements may be used for mobility management, such as handovers / cell switches, beam management, and / or connection reestablishments. In order to select appropriate candidate cells and / or beams, e.g. for early uplink and / or downlink synchronization and / or cell switching in LTM, both intra-frequency L1 measurements and / or inter-frequency L1 measurements, e.g. using synchronization signal block (SSB) transmissions from the candidate cells, may be supported and / or utilized. A LTM cell switch / change-decision may be based on measurements (for example L1 measurements, and / or L3 measurements) that may be performed and / or reported (for example via a corresponding L1 measurement report(s), or L3 measurement report(s)), e.g. by the UE. "Uplink (UL) synchronization" may refer to a process where the apparatus, e.g. the UE, aligns its transmission timing with the network's expectations, e.g. to ensure proper communication.In other words, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may transmit its signals at a correct timing, e.g. so they reach the network without collisions or interference. "Downlink (DL) synchronization" may refer to a process where the apparatus, e.g. the UE, aligns itself with timing and / or frequency of a downlink signal from the network. DL synchronization may ensure that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can correctly receive and / or interpret signals from the network. "Early" synchronization may refer to initiating and / or performing at least one of: UL or DL synchronization, in particular before the actual execution of a cell switch / change procedure. Intra-frequency L1 measurements may refer to measurements performed on reference signals, e.g. transmitted on a same carrier frequency or a same active BWP as a serving cell, which may be used to, e.g. evaluate the serving cell’s or neighbor cells signal quality. Inter-frequency L1 measurements may refer to measurements performed on reference signals, e.g. transmitted on frequencies different from the serving cell’s carrier frequency, which may be used to, e.g. evaluate the signal quality of cells or beams operating on different frequency layers, e.g., different carrier frequency or on a BWP different than the active BWP. Reference Signals used for L1 measurements may include Synchronization Signal Blocks (SSBs), SSB-based signal(s) or Channel State Information Reference Signals (CSI-RS) etc. A non-limiting example in the context of LTM for an associated report / reporting may be a Layer 1 (L1) report / reporting. L1 reports may be periodic (e.g., every "X" ms) or event-based (e.g., when a beam’s quality significantly changes) etc. L1 reporting may be related to the physical channel it is reported in / on i.e., Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) or Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH). Similarly, L1 reporting may be related to a container the report is sent in e.g., a MAC CE report, a RRC measurement report or a CSI reporting container. When the apparatus, e.g. the UE detects that for example L1 measurements from a neighboring cell is sufficiently strong, a report may be sent, e.g. to trigger L1 or L3 measurement(s). L1 reports may be repeatedly and / or continuously generated as the quality of different beams changes.

[0400] A non-limiting example in the context of LTM for the at least one cell measurement may be a Layer 3 (L3) measurement. L3 measurement(s) may be used to provide higher-layer mobility management functions and / or may assist in determining whether a cell is a viable candidate for mobility, e.g. by monitoring Reference Signals (RS), such as SSB-based signals. For example, L3 measurements may correspond to L1 measurements that may be filtered at Layer 3 in addition to the L1 filter (or filtered differently on layer 1), e.g. to remove or minimize an impact of the channel, e.g. fast fading, in particular to reduce short term variations in measurement results. L3 measurements may correspond to averaging of multiple beammeasurements corresponding to a cell. A non-limiting example in the context of LTM for an associated report / reporting may be a Layer 3 (L3) report / reporting.

[0401] A "beam" or "at least one beam" may be used interchangeably herein with at least one Reference Signal (RS) and / or may be considered as a, in particular focused, transmission of, e.g. radio, signals, including for example, reference signals which may be transmitted using Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) and / or beamforming techniques. Beams can have various characteristics and serve different purposes based on their configuration and use case. The at least one beam may include one or more beams or one or more beam pairs, e.g. such as a first beam and a second beam, which may be received from the same or different sources, e.g. cells and / or the at least one measurement may consider different cells / source and / or beams. For example, there may be a first beam from a first cell, e.g. a serving cell, and a second beam from a second cell, e.g. a candidate or target cell or even another serving cell. Beams may be characterized by different properties, including for example signal strength or power, which may indicate the received strength of a signal transmitted by the gNB / beam is, in particular at the receiver, e.g. the UE. This may be for example measured as Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP), e.g. an average received power of the reference signals, or Reference Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), e.g. a total received power including noise and / or interference. Stronger signals may indicate better connectivity. Beams may also be characterized by signal quality, e.g. how "clean" the signal is, considering interference and / or noise. This may be for example measured as Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ), e.g. a ratio of RSRP to RSSI, indicating interference levels and / or Signal-to-lnterference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR), e.g. a ratio of the desired signal power to interference and / or noise power. Other properties and / or metrics are conceivable. The reference signals used for measuring the metrics could for example be SSB or CSI-RS.

[0402] A "candidate cell" (or "target cell") (these terms may be used interchangeably herein) may be referred to as a neighboring cell or one of UE’s current serving cell (e.g. SCell) that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, evaluates as a potential replacement for the current serving cell (e.g. PCell or PSCell), in particular during a mobility event. If particular conditions are met / satisfied, the UE may or may assist the network to initiate a transition / switch / change process to the target cell. The "serving cell" may be the active cell currently providing network connectivity to the apparatus, e.g. the UE. In a non-limiting context of LTM, candidate cell(s) may be neighboring cell(s) or a UE’s current serving cells (e.g. SCells) (as mentioned above). In a non-limitingexample of 5G, cell terms may be and / or may apply as follows: i) Primary cell (PCell), ii) Secondary cell (SCell), iii) Primary cell of a secondary cell group (PSCell), iv) Special cell (SpCell), which may be used to refer, in particular, commonly to a PCell or a PSCell. There may be only one special cell for each cell group. The PCell may be a, in particular primary, cell in / for a Master Cell Group (MCG) and PSCell may be, in particular a primary cell, in / for a Secondary Cell Group (SCG). Each cell group may have multiple SCells, but a unique PCell. All the cell types can be configured for a target or candidate cell. A Target Cell may be a cell to which the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is executing handover or cell change. A Serving Cell may be a cell that is, in particular currently, serving the apparatus, e.g. the UE. A Source Cell may be a cell from which the apparatus, e.g. the UE is executing the handover or cell change. A candidate cell may be a cell that is a candidate to become a target cell for a handover or cell change.

[0403] Connected mode cell identification and / or measurement delay requirements may be defined in section 9 of TS 38.133. On a high level, the requirements cover intra-cell measurement(s) and / or inter-cell measurement(s) and / or cell identification delay for, in particular SSB-based and CSI-RS-based measurement(s), e.g. for L1 and / or L3 measurement(s). Cell identification requirements may define how long it takes e.g. for the apparatus, in particular the UE, to identify a new, e.g. detectable, intra-frequency cell. Measurement delay requirements may define a measurement period for the configured L1 and / or L3 measurement(s) with and without gaps, in particular when the cell(s) to be measured is / are already identified. When the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is in connected mode, the network may make a mobility decision, e.g. based on the reported UE measurement(s). The network may command the apparatus, e.g. the UE, to perform a handover (such as L3-based handover) or a cell switch / change (such as a LTM cell switch) from once cell, e.g. a first cell, to another cell, e.g. a second cell. Alternatively, the network may configure the apparatus, in particular the UE, with a condition to perform in particular a conditional handover or cell switch / change, e.g. at the time of a such condition becoming fulfilled or met. When the apparatus, e.g. the UE, hands over / changes to another cell, this cell may send a new measurement and reporting configuration, and the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may start measuring and reporting based on the new measurement configuration.

[0404] A "measurement configuration" (which may also be referred to as a measurement and / or reporting configuration) may refer to the set of parameters and / or rules that define how the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may conduct, carry out and / or perform one or more measurement(s).A measurement configuration may be provided by the network and / or specify which frequency to measure, what signals, e.g. reference signals, to measure and / or how often / frequent the measurement(s) should be taken and / or under what conditions they should be reported back to the network. A measurement configuration may include at least one "measurement object", which may specify and / or define the object, element, signal, carrier frequency, cell, entity, measurement window, resource block and / or channel to be measured, in particular what the UE should measure, such as, e.g. at least one signal, e.g. Channel State Information (CSI) Reference Signal (RS), a Synchronization Signal Block (SSB), a SSB-based Synchronization Signal or the like. A measurement configuration may define and / or include a measurement periodicity (for example SMTC (SSB-based Measurement Timing Configuration)), e.g. how frequent measurements are to be carried out. Providing the apparatus, e.g. the UE, with the measurement configuration may be referred to as "configuring" the apparatus, e.g. the UE or that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is "configured". It should be noted that the measurement configuration may be also included in the cell change command. In particular, a cell change command, such as handover command (e.g. RRC), may include at least one measurement configuration for at least one or more cells. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may choose to store all source measurements that are in a target measurement configuration (for example, a cell change command with a measurement configuration may work as an implicit indication to continue measurements).

[0405] When an apparatus, in particular a UE, is configured with neighbor cell measurement(s) for example for mobility or data (e.g., carrier aggregation / dual connectivity etc.) purposes, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may measure those carriers / cells and / or may report the results to the cell (or network) (to which) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is currently connected to (e.g. the serving PCell). The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may perform these measurement(s) and / or report them to the currently serving cell (PCell), which may help the network decide on mobility(-related) actions. When the network sends a cell change command (e.g. based on the performed and / or reported measurement(s)), the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may change to the cell indicated by the handover / cell switch / change command. In this target cell, the network may most likely configure the apparatus, e.g. the UE, with a measurement configuration for performing measurements including e.g. measurement(s) for the same cell(s) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, was requested to measure in the source cell, in particular before the handover / cell change. The former source cell may also become a candidate target cell for mobility in the target cell / new source cell. These newly configured measurements (inparticular new measurement configuration in the new source cell) would be considered as new measurements, and it is expected that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, would initiate new measurement(s), e.g. based on the new measurement configuration. Hence, the carriers / cells may be considered not detected (even though it just measured them in the source cell), which may mean that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, would need to or at least be allowed to perform cell identification and / or a measurement round while measuring the same cells it recently measured in the former source cell. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may have to repeat the cell identification and / or measurement process, even for cells it recently measured. This repetition introduces delays in mobility-related actions because: cell identification and / or measurement round may take a relatively long time, which may mean that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is able to provide a measurement report for the network only after a long delay, e.g. after cell change completion. In other words, cell identification and / or initial measurements may take time, delaying the network’s ability to receive fresh, new and / or updated measurement report(s). In some cases, for example when the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is moving fast from one cell to another, a new handover / cell change may need to happen rapidly, e.g. after completion of a first handover / cell change. Furthermore, the network may want to set up carrier aggregation (CA) or Dual Connectivity (DC) with a short delay, e.g. after handover / cell change completion in the target cell, which may be delayed due to long measurement periods, in particular caused by cell identification.

[0406] "Measurement continuity information" may be regarded as information, parameter(s) and / or data associated with and / or enabling / assisting in a mobility procedure and / or a mobility related action, in particular for the apparatus, e.g. the UE, changing at least one cell, e.g. from a first cell to a second cell. In addition or alternatively thereto, measurement continuity information may be associated with CA and / or DC. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may be in a connected mode, e.g. a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connected mode or the like, which may mean that it is connected to at least one cell, e.g. a (currently) serving cell of the network. Measurement continuity information may refer to cell detection, measurement(s) and / or related action(s). In particular, measurement continuity information may include at least one cell detection status of at least one or more cells. This may tell the apparatus, e.g. the UE, whether a cell was (previously) detected, identified and / or recognized. If stored, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not need to re-detect a cell after the cell change, allowing it to resume measurements nearly instantly. In addition or alternatively thereto, measurement continuity information may refer to at least one cell measurement of at least one or morecells, which may be considered as the actual measurement(s) performed / conducted on the cell. If stored, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can immediately continue tracking signal levels after the cell change, e.g. instead of restarting the measurement process. In addition or alternatively thereto, measurement continuity information may refer to at least one measurement object associated with at least one or more cells. A measurement object, as described herein, may define which frequency / -ies, reference signal(s) (e.g., SSB, CSI-RS), and / or cell(s) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, should measure. Foran apparatus, e.g. a UE, supporting measurement continuity, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, shall i) retain a cell detection status, in particular on already detected cell(s), and / or ii) retain cell detection status and / or performed measurement(s) on the detected cell(s), in particular during the cell change. It should be noted that the subject-matter described herein may be implemented / applied for mobility purposes or mobility related actions between a first, e.g. source cell and a second, e.g. target cell, in particular before and / or after, the cell switch / change, to any existing or future handover / cell switch / change procedure(s), where the cell to be changed may be PCell or other serving cell, such as PSCell or SCell.

[0407] Measurement continuity information for at least one or more cells may be or may have been obtained while being connected to the at least one serving cell. In other words, the measurement continuity information for at least one or more cells may be or may have been obtained while the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is in a connected mode with at least one cell, e.g. a (currently) serving cell of the network. The measurement continuity information for at least one or more cells may be or may have been obtained before initiation of the cell change procedure or before reception of a cell change command. This may ensure that the network can use recent measurements when making cell change decisions, "obtaining" with respect to the measurement continuity information may mean i) determining, detecting and / or obtaining a cell detection status of at least one or more cells, and / or ii) conducting, performing, carrying out and / or executing at least one cell measurement of at least one or more cells, and / or iii) determining, detecting and / or obtaining at least one measurement object associated with at least one or more cells. Needless to say, that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may include one or more steps of: i) obtaining or determining a cell detection status of at least one or more cells, ii) conducting at least one cell measurement of at least one or more cells and / or iii) obtaining or determining at least one measurement object associated with at least one or more cells. Likewise, the apparatus, may include the step of storing (or avoiding to store), at least part, a subset or all of, the (obtained / determined) measurement continuity information for at leastone cell in connection with the cell change procedure, based at least in part on the at least one indication and a storing capability of the apparatus as described herein.

[0408] According to subject-matter described herein, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive at least one indication. The indication may be at least one indication (or more), or the indication may correspond to a single indication having multiple parts. In other words, there may be a first indication or at least a first part of the indication indicating a first information or action, and a second indication or second part of the indication indicating a second information or action. Thus, when reference to an "indication" is made, (only) a "part" of the indication may be meant. The at least one indication, e.g. the first information and / or the second information, may indicate for example one or more of: i) that measurement continuity information is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure, ii) for which measurement objects the measurement continuity information is to be stored, iii) for which cell or for which cell of a plurality of cells the measurement continuity information is to be stored, iv) to which cell or plurality it applies / is applicable, v) how it applies / or is applicable to the cell(s), vi) which measurement continuity information is to be stored, vii) at least one condition, or any combination of i)-vii). However, the indication may, in addition or alternatively, also indicate other / further features.

[0409] The at least one indication may be located in, embedded in or included in different parts, messages, commands, signals, configurations and / or it may correspond to different messages, commands and / or signals. For example, the indication may be an explicit indication, e.g. (directly) included in, embedded in or encoded in a message or command, e.g. directly readable by the apparatus, e.g. the UE. For example, the at least one message may be included in i) a message, ii) a measurement configuration or iii) a cell change command. It may be conceivable to send the indication directly, e.g. without embedding it in another message, configuration or the like. As mentioned, the measurement configuration itself may be included in the cell change command according to one example. The indication may be a flag which may be included or encoded in the message, the measurement configuration or the command etc., e.g. using at least one Information Element (IE) and / or one or more bit(s). However, the indication may also be received separately and / or independently of the measurement configuration, or the command (or the message, e.g. when the indication is not included in a message). The indication may also be an implicit indication, e.g. derivable from the message, the measurement configuration, or from the command itself, e.g. the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may conclude to the indication based at least in part on the message, the measurement configuration or thecommand, "based at least in part on the indication" may, for example, mean based on one or more part(s) of the indication. In addition or alternatively thereto, it may mean, for example, based on the indication, e.g. as a whole, (or parts thereof) but also based on additional information and / or additional information element(s), parameters or data.

[0410] As mentioned above, the at least one indication may be indicative of measurement continuity information which is to be stored "in connection with a cell change procedure", which may mean that the measurement continuity information is to be stored i) at a time or when the cell change procedure happens / occurs or is initiated / triggered, ii) during / throughout the cell change procedure, e.g. it may start before, continue through and / or complete after the cell change procedure, iii) over, e.g. at least one time window, time slot or time frame related to the cell change procedure, e.g. storing already occurs before and ends after the cell change procedure. In particular, the storing of the measurement continuity information may be maintained, continued, ongoing, repeated and / or carried on over the, in particular entire, cell change procedure. The storing may start (and / or continue) from initiation of the cell change procedure or even before. The storing of the measurement continuity information may be performed / conducted at least until the cell change procedure is (e.g. fully) completed or finished. In other words, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may refrain from discarding, flushing, removing, deleting, erasing and / or clearing the obtained measurement continuity information in connection with the cell change procedure. In other words, the network may (e.g. explicitly) tell the apparatus, e.g. the UE not to delete measurement data during the transition to the new cell, which may prevent loss of important signal strength or quality data and / or may support faster cell changes as the UE already has useful / necessary data. The storing of the measurement continuity information may be performed / conducted based on, in particular continued, measurement(s), e.g. without a predefined / set storing time period. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may keep or preserve the measurement data even as it moves / transitions / switches / changes from one cell to another. This may ensure that previously collected information remains available after the transition / change and / or may ensure that the network has access to recent measurement(s) / data, which can improve future cell change decisions. The stored measurement continuity information may be used for at least one cell measurement for at least one or more cells after the cell change procedure, e.g. after completion. The (stored) measurement continuity information may be updated, modified and / or changed. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store measurement continuity information for a first measurement / cell and update the (stored) measurement continuityinformation based on further measurement(s) etc. The previously stored measurements may help / assist the apparatus, e.g. the UE, for example to resume cell monitoring without starting from scratch. It may also reduce re-measurement delays as the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not need to restart all measurements after the cell change. Furthermore, these features may avoid redundant measurement(s), saving UE processing power and / or battery life. The stored measurement continuity information may be utilized or used for at least one cell measurement for at least one or more cells after the cell change procedure. In other words, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may use previously stored measurement continuity information to resume its cell monitoring tasks after the cell change, which may prevent unnecessary delays in mobility-related measurements. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not need to re-scan all surrounding cells.

[0411] The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine, based at least in part on the stored measurement continuity information, whether to conduct, resume, set forth or continue at least one cell measurement for at least one or more cells after the cell change procedure. Likewise, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may perform the step of: conducting or continuing at least one cell measurement for at least one or more cells after the cell change procedure, based at least in part on the stored measurement continuity information. In other words, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may evaluate the stored data to decide whether to continue measuring a cell (e.g. if necessary), or skip / omit the measurement (e.g. if stored data is still valid). This may prevent redundant operations / measurements and / or may reduce energy consumption, e.g. from unnecessary measurements. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine, based at least in part on the stored measurement continuity information, whether to discard, stop, pause, or suspend at least one cell measurement for at least one or more cells after the cell change procedure. Likewise, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may perform the step of: discarding or suspending at least one cell measurement for at least one or more cells after the cell change procedure, based at least in part on the stored measurement continuity information. In other words, if previously stored measurement data is still useful, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may pause or skip additional measurements, which may reduce signaling load, e.g. by preventing unnecessary measurement reports and / or which may result in less processing burden, e.g. which allows the apparatus, e.g. the UE, to focus on other (processing) tasks or data transmission.

[0412] The subject-matter described herein may relate in general to different options for determining which information to store in connection with a cell change procedure which may include thati) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store all or a subset of the measurement continuity information based at least in part on at least one (network) indication, or ii) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store all or a subset of the measurement continuity information based at least in part on at least one predefined rule or a standardized rule which may be defined in a standard specification. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may continue to store the information until completing the cell change, and determining whether it is requested to continue to perform measurement(s) based at least in part on a measurement configuration received in another cell. If the measurement configuration from another cell comprises a MO (measurement object) that corresponds to a MO for which the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may have detected the cell and / or stored measurement(s) (e.g. same cell, RS etc.), the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may keep the stored information and / or continue the measurement(s). In one example, if the cell is considered detected / identified, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not be expected to require time to perform cell detection / identification for such a cell after entering the new cell before the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can initiate measurement(s) (e.g. the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not restart the measurement as in legacy procedures / methods). If the measurement configuration from another cell does not comprise MO that corresponds to a stored measurement, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard the stored measurement. In yet another option, in particular in connection with or at the time of receiving a cell change command, iii) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store all or a subset of the measurement continuity information based at least in part on a selection, choice and / or decision of the apparatus, e.g. the UE (e.g. UE-based selectionZ-implementation). For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may continue to store the measurement continuity information, e.g. cell detection status and / or measurement(s), until completing the cell change, and determining to perform measurement(s) based on a measurement configuration from, e.g. another cell. If the measurement configuration from the another cell comprises MO(s) that corresponds to the stored measurement (e.g. same cell, RS etc.), the apparatus e.g. the UE, may continue the measurement. If the measurement configuration from the another cell does not comprise MOs that corresponds to a stored measurement, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard the stored measurement.

[0413] According to subject-matter described herein, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine whether to store the measurement continuity information for at least one cell in connection with the cell change procedure, based at least in part on the at least one indication and a "storing capability" of the apparatus. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may have limited storagecapacity, so it may be important to store only the most relevant / specific measurement continuity information / data. To this end, the storing may be considered as a selective / selected, targeted and / or focused storing, e.g. (only) of some information or, in case storing capability allows, all information. This may prevent overloading the UE storage. In other words, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can handle network requests according to its capabilities. A "storing capability" of the apparatus, e.g. the UE may be based at least in part on and / or may refer to: i) an ability to store measurement continuity information, e.g. whether the apparatus, e.g. the UE, supports saving / keeping measurement data for at least one cell before, during / over, and after a cell change procedure, and / or ii) a storing capacity for measurement continuity information, e.g. an amount or number of measurement data / information the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can retain / save, such as a (maximum) number of cell measurements the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can store, a (maximum) number of cells for which the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can retain measurements, a (maximum) number of measurement objects the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can store, a (maximum) number of measurement objects (MOs) the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can keep track of across a cell change etc. In one example, the storing capacity could be specified and / or defined, for example in a standard specification, e.g. as a minimum requirement for the apparatus, e.g. the UE. The number of cell measurements may be based at least in part on a measurement type, wherein the measurement type includes at least one of: - an intra frequency cell measurement, in particular measuring cells on the same frequency as the current serving cell; - an inter frequency cell measurement, in particular measuring cells on different frequencies; - at least one cell measurement per frequency range, in particular measuring frequency based or covering different frequency ranges, such as Frequency Range 1 (FR1), Frequency Range 2 (FR2) etc.; or - at least one cell measurement per Reference Signal, RS, in particular measuring based on specific signal references, such as at least one SSB, an SSB-based RS, at least one CSI-RS etc. Any of the options i)-iii) for determining which information to store in connection with a cell change procedure outlined above and described herein may take those storing capabilities into account.

[0414] The storing capability of the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may be shared, communicated and / or exchanged with the network. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may transmit, to the network, in particular to the at least one serving cell of the network, at least one message that indicates or may be indicative of the storing capability of the apparatus. The storing capability may be signaled to the network in, in particular regular or repeated, capability exchangeprocedure(s) between the apparatus and the network. For example, the at least one message which may be indicative of the storing capability of the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may be transmitted to the network during a capability exchange procedure between the apparatus and the network. In addition, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may inform / tell the network about its storage capability / -ies so that the network can decide what to request, e.g. adapted to the particular situation. The at least one message which may be indicative of the storing capability of the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may be transmitted before at least one of: - reception of the at least one indication that i) is indicative of measurement continuity information which is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure or that ii) indicates that measurement continuity information is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure, - reception of a cell change command, or - initiation of the cell change procedure. The network may thus adjust, adapt, change and / or modify its request, e.g. based on what the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can realistically store. As already mentioned, in one example, the storing capacity could be specified and / or defined, for example in a standard specification, e.g. as a minimum requirement for the apparatus, e.g. the UE. In such an example, (only) the ability to store measurement continuity information may be indicated to the network device.

[0415] The measurement continuity information indicated in the at least one indication may be dependent on the storing capability of the apparatus. In other words, the measurement continuity information indicated in the at least one indication may take into account the storing capability of the apparatus. The measurement continuity information indicated in the at least one indication may be matched to, adapted to, tailored to, aligned with, tuned to and / or coordinated with the storing capability of the apparatus. This may allow the network, e.g. in real-time and / or dynamically, to adjust its request based on what the UE can or is able actually store and / or so that the network can more concretely / accurately decide what to request. It may also prevent overloading UE storage, improve memory usage and / or may improve adaptability, as the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can handle network requests according to its capabilities.

[0416] According to subject-matter described herein, the storing may be a network indicated storing, e.g. using at least one indication. The indication may be indicative of measurement continuity information which is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure or the indication may indicate that measurement continuity information is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure - these phrases may be used interchangeably herein. As mentioned above,The at least one indication may be included, embedded or located in different messages, signaling, commands etc. For example, the at least one indication may be included or embedded in a measurement configuration. The measurement configuration may be at least one measurement configuration of at least one serving cell or at least one measurement configuration of at least one candidate cell. In other words, the network may provide the measurement continuity instructions as part of the standard measurement configuration message, which may avoid the need for extra signaling and / or which may ensure / allow consistency across different network layers.

[0417] In another example, the at least one indication may be included in or embedded in at least one message, e.g. from the at least one serving cell of the network. The at least one message may be transmitted separately, independently and / or detached from a measurement configuration (and / or a cell change command) of at least one or more cells received from the at least one serving cell of the network. Instead of embedding the measurement continuity indication within the measurement configuration (and / or the cell change command), the network may transmit it as a separate message. This may mean that the measurement configuration (which may tell the apparatus, e.g. the UE which cells to measure) and the measurement continuity indication (which may tell the apparatus, e.g. the UE, which past data to store) can be handled independently. The at least one message may include at least one of: an Abstract Syntax Notation One, ASN.1, based message; an in-band protocol message; a Medium Access Control, MAC, Control Element, CE, message; an early Uplink, UL, synchronization command message; an early Downlink, DL, synchronization command message; a TCI state activation command, ora Physical Downlink Control Channel, PDCCH, order. Alternatively, a new type of message may be generated or defined, in particular for such a purpose. These features may allow that the network can update measurement continuity instructions without modifying / considering the measurement configuration. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not need to reprocess the full measurement configuration, in cases when only measurement continuity needs updating. The network can also dynamically control measurement continuity without interfering with normal measurement processes. Furthermore, if the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is moving quickly, the network can send measurement continuity updates (e.g. the indication) without waiting for the next full measurement configuration cycle.In another example, the at least one indication may be included or embedded in or corresponds to at least one cell change command from the at least one serving cell of the network. This may mean that when the apparatus, e.g. the UE, receives instructions to switch / change to a new cell, it also receives the at least one indication and, thus, guidance on what measurement data it should retain / store, which may avoid the need for extra signaling and / or reduce signaling overhead. For example, the network may indicate a configuration reference in the cell change command, which may contain the information which measurements to store. For instance, the cell change command may contain a measurement reference, and the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may match this measurement reference with the configured measurement configuration, e.g. to resolve whether to store the measurement. As mentioned above, it may be possible that the measurement configuration (in particular in addition to or alternatively to the at least one indication) may be included in the cell change command.

[0418] Irrespective of where the indication is located, the at least one indication may be applicable or may apply equally or commonly to more than one of a plurality of cells, e.g. to multiple cells instead of just one specific cell. To this end, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may manage multiple neighbor cells simultaneously, in particular based at least in part on the indication, thereby e.g. optimizing mobility decisions. In another example, the at least one indication may be applicable or apply selectively to a single or specific one of a plurality of cells, e.g. it may apply cell-specifically or only to a specific cell, rather than multiple cells. This may correspond to a dynamic approach having greater / finer granularity. For example, the at least one indication may be common for all (target) cells, or the at least one indication may be (target) cell specific (e.g., the network can indicate, for example in measurement configuration, that the apparatus, e.g. the UE shall store i) cell 2 results, in case of a cell change to cell 3, ii) store cell 1 results in case cell change to cell 2 etc.). The at least one indication may consider measurements per carrier, per cell, per beam, and / or per RS. The at least one indication may directly and / or explicitly indicate which measurement continuity information, e.g. which measurement(s), is to be stored based at least in part on at least one of: - a cell, e.g. a candidate cell, identifier (e.g. a Cell ID), or at least one measurement object. A cell ID may allow the network to tell the apparatus, e.g. the UE, to store measurement continuity data for a particular cell (e.g., store data for "Cell X" when moving to "Cell Y"). That way, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may know exactly which measurements to keep, reducing uncertainty in mobility events and / or it may not store unnecessary data, conserving memory and / or processing power.The at least one indication may include or define at least one condition which may determine whether the measurement continuity information is to be stored. For example the network may not always instruct the apparatus, e.g. the UE, to store measurement continuity data, but instead, it may provide at least one condition that determine when to do so. The at least one indication may indicate that the measurement continuity information is to be stored (e.g. for N cells / N RS) based at least in part on at least one of: - a signal strength of at least one Reference Signal, RS, which may be regarded as a signal-based condition, such as a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP)-based threshold, which may indicate a power level of reference signals from the cell or beam, e.g. higher RSRP may indicate a stronger or more usable signal; - a signal quality of at least one or more cells or the at least one RS, which may be regarded as a signal-based condition, such as a Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ)-based threshold, which may indicate a quality of the received reference signal, accounting for interference, e.g. a higher RSRQ may suggest the signal is clear of interference; or - at least one time window before initiation or completion of the cell change procedure. A Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR)-based threshold, which may indicate a ratio of the desired signal to interference and noise, may also be conceivable. The determination whether to store the measurement continuity information may be based on fulfillment of the at least one condition, e.g. if the at least one condition is met or not. To this end, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may assess, check, examine and / or verify whether at least one condition as described herein may be satisfied, met and / or fulfilled, e.g. before storing measurement continuity information. If the condition is not met, the apparatus, e.g. the UE may refrain from storing (e.g. not store) the measurement continuity information. This may allow that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not blindly store measurements, but evaluates whether storage is necessary which also may avoid unnecessary processing and / or memory usage.

[0419] The subject-matter described herein the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine, based at least in part on at least one rule that is indicative of measurement continuity information which is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure (or that indicates that measurement continuity information is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure - these phrases may be used interchangeably herein) and based at least in part on a storing capability of the apparatus, whether to store the measurement continuity information for at least one cell in connection with the cell change procedure. In other words, the subject-matter described herein may relate to options for determining which information to store in connection with a cell change procedure which may include that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store all or a subsetof the measurement continuity information based at least in part on at least one predefined rule or a standardized rule which may be defined in a standard specification, e.g. as part of a 3GPP specification. This determining may be performed, conducted, triggered and / or initiated based at least in part on reception of at least one cell change command. Using at least one rule as compared to at least one indication may result in reduced signaling overhead and / or may ensure consistency across networks, e.g. when using standardized rules. The at least one rule may define, indicate and / or specify at least one of: i) for which cell or for which plurality of cells, ii) for which measurement(s), or iii) for which measurement object(s) the measurement continuity information is to be stored in connection with the cell change procedure. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may perform: selecting all or at least a subset of the measurement continuity information that is to be stored based at least in part on the at least one rule and the storing capability of the apparatus. In other words, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may not have to store all measurement continuity information, but it may select only specific or the most relevant / appropriate ones. For example, if the apparatus, e.g. the UE, has limited memory, it may prioritize specific signals or measurements, which may reduce unnecessary memory usage.

[0420] The at least one rule may indicate, define and / or specify that measurement continuity information is to be stored for one or more of the following:

[0421] - for at least one cell measurement of at least one serving cell of a network;

[0422] - for at least one cell measurement of at least one neighboring cell of a network;

[0423] - for at least one measurement of at least one frequency or frequency range, such as FR1, FR2 etc.;

[0424] - for at least one measurement of a frequency or frequency range (FR1 / FR2 etc.) which corresponds to a same frequency or frequency range as at least one target cell of a network;

[0425] - for at least one measurement of at least one cell from one carrier per band;

[0426] - for at least one measurement of at least one cell which belongs to at least one band combination, BC, which is supported by the apparatus, for example, (only) measurements within the BC may be selected;

[0427] - for at least one intra frequency cell measurement;

[0428] - for at least one inter frequency cell measurement;- for at least one type of a Reference Signal, RS or at least one specific RS-type, wherein the type of RS may include at least one of: - at least one Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) or an SSB-based signal, or - at least one Channel State Information (CSI)-RS;

[0429] - for at least one measurement which fulfills at least one of:

[0430] - a signal-level based condition and / or a signal-quality based condition, such as a Reference Signals Received Power, RSRP, based threshold, a Reference Signal Received Quality, RSRQ, based threshold and / or A Signal-to-lnterference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR)-based threshold; For example, only measurements exceeding an RSRP threshold, (and / or fulfilling another condition) may be stored;

[0431] - based at least in part on at least one measured signal level. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store N best measurements based on measured signal level;

[0432] - based at least in part on at least one at least one time window, time slot or time instance before at least one of: initiation or completion of the cell change procedure, or reception of at least one cell change command. In other words, a time-based selection, in particular the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store measurement(s) that it has performed within X time duration (e.g. seconds) before receiving the cell change command, where X may be a predefined value. Other measurements or conditions may be conceivable. It should be noted that one or more of the above conditions may be applied.

[0433] The term "non-transitory," as used herein, is a limitation of the medium itself (i.e., tangible, not a signal) as opposed to a limitation on data storage persistency (e.g., RAM vs. ROM).

[0434] As used herein, "at least one of the following: " and "at least one of " and similar wording, where the list of two or more elements are joined by "and" or "or", mean at least any one of the elements, or at least any two or more of the elements, or at least all the elements.

[0435] The apparatus may include a processor configured to provide signals to and receive signals and to control the functioning of the apparatus. The processor may be configured to control other elements of apparatus by effecting control signaling via electrical leads connecting processor to the other elements, such as a display or a memory. The processor may, for example, be embodied in a variety of ways including circuitry, at least one processing core, one or more microprocessors with accompanying digital signal processor(s), one or more processor(s) without an accompanying digital signal processor, one or more coprocessors, oneor more multi-core processors, one or more controllers, processing circuitry, one or more computers, various other processing elements including integrated circuits (for example, an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), a field programmable gate array (FPGA), and / or the like), or some combination thereof.

[0436] The term "circuitry" may refer to one or more or all of the following:

[0437] (a) hardware-only circuit implementations (such as implementations in only analog and / or digital circuitry) and

[0438] (b) combinations of hardware circuits and software, such as (as applicable):

[0439] (i) a combination of analog and / or digital hardware circuit(s) with software / firmware and

[0440] (ii) any portions of hardware processor(s) with software (including digital signal processor(s)), software, and memory(ies) that work together to cause an apparatus, such as a mobile phone or server, to perform various functions) and

[0441] hardware circuit(s) and / or processor(s), such as a microprocessor(s) or a portion of a microprocessor(s), that requires software (e.g., firmware) for operation, but the software may not be present when it is not needed for operation.

[0442] This definition of circuitry applies to all uses of this term in this application, including in any claims. As a further example, as used in this application, the term circuitry also covers an implementation of merely a hardware circuit or processor (or multiple processors) or portion of a hardware circuit or processor and its (or their) accompanying software and / or firmware. The term circuitry also covers, for example and if applicable to the particular claim element, a baseband integrated circuit or processor integrated circuit for a mobile device or a similar integrated circuit in server, a cellular network device, or other computing or network device.

[0443] The apparatus may comprise memory which may store information elements. The apparatus may include volatile memory and / or non-volatile memory. For example, volatile memory may include Random Access Memory (RAM) including dynamic and / or static RAM, on-chip or off-chip cache memory, and / or the like. Non-volatile memory, which may be embedded and / or removable, may include, for example, read-only memory, flash memory, magnetic storage devices, for example, hard disks, floppy disk drives, magnetic tape, optical disc drives and / or media, non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM), and / or the like. Like volatile memory, non-volatile memory may include a cache area for temporary storage of data. At least part ofthe volatile and / or non-volatile memory may be embedded in processor. The memories may store one or more software programs, instructions, pieces of information, data, and / or the like which may be used by the apparatus for performing operations disclosed herein.

[0444] The apparatus may be a User Equipment (UE), for example a mobile or handled device, for example a mobile phone or a smart phone, or may be at least comprised in a UE.

[0445] Fig. 1A shows an example signaling diagram according to subject-matter described herein. It should be noted that the flow chart of Fig. 1A is merely an example, i.e. the steps depicted and / or discussed should not be considered as limiting. Fig. 1A may be combined with any of the example aspects and / or associated example embodiments mentioned herein. Fig. 1A may be described by the following non-limiting steps:

[0446] Step 1: The apparatus, e.g. the UE may be in a connected mode or state, e.g. a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connected state, e.g. with a cell, e.g. cell 1. This may be regarded as at least one serving cell to which the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is connected.

[0447] Step 2: The network may determine which measurement continuity information, e.g. which measurements, that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, shall store in particular when a cell change is required or planned. In the example of Fig. 1A, the network may decide that, for example, Cell 1 and Cell 3 measurements are to be stored. It should be noted that the determination may also happen or occur after sending the optional measurement configuration (s. step 3).

[0448] Step 3: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may, according to one example embodiment, may receive from the at least one serving cell of the network, e.g. Cell 1, at least one indication. The at least one indication may be indicative of measurement continuity information which is to be stored in connection with the cell change procedure. The at least one indication may be transmitted separately from the measurement configuration of at least one or more cells. Optionally, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive a measurement (and / or reporting) configuration, which may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) reconfiguration, e.g. for Cell 1, Cell 2 and Cell 3. The measurement (and / or reporting) configuration may be a measurement (and / orreporting) configuration of at least one serving cell or a measurement configuration of at least one candidate cell. In an example, the at least one indication may be included in the measurement configuration. For example, in step 3 of Fig. 1A, the network may indicate in the measurement configuration which measurements to store at the time of cell change. In this example, the network may indicate to the apparatus, e.g. the UE to store Celli and Cell3 measurements.

[0449] Step 4: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may obtain measurement continuity information from at least one cell. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may measure at least one cell, e.g. Cell 1, Cell 2 and Cell 3. The measurement may be based on the measurement (and / or reporting) configuration received in step 3.

[0450] Step 5: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may, according to one example embodiment, receive at least one indication in a separate message. For example, the at least one indication may be included in, embedded in or correspond to at least one message which is received separately or independently from at least one of: a measurement configuration (s. step 3), or a cell change command (s. step 6). The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine whether to store the measurement continuity information for at least one cell in connection with the cell change procedure, based at least in part on the at least one indication. The determining may further, as an example, be based at least in part on a storing capability of the apparatus. The at least one (separate) message may also be received before at least one of -reception of the measurement configuration, or - reception of the cell change command, or after reception of the measurement configuration. The at least one message may be received after performing or conducting at least one measurement (s. step 4) based at least in part on the measurement configuration. As can be seen in Fig. 1A, the at least one (separate) message may be transmitted by the network in addition to at least one of:- a message which includes the measurement configuration, or - the cell change command. The at least one (separate) message from the at least one serving cell of the network may be of a different type as at least one of: - a message which includes the measurement configuration, or - the cell change command. In particular, the at least one (separate) message from the at least one serving cell of the network includes at least one of: - an Abstract Syntax Notation One, ASN.1, based message, - an in-band protocol message; - a Medium AccessControl, MAC, Control Element, CE, message, - an early Uplink, UL, synchronization command message, - an early Downlink, DL, synchronization command message, - a TCI state activation command, or - a Physical Downlink Control Channel, PDCCH, order.

[0451] Step 6: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may, according to one example embodiment, may receive the at least one indication based on the cell change command. In particular, the at least one indication may be included in, embedded in or correspond to at least one cell change command from the at least one serving cell of the network. In other words, the network may send the cell change command to the apparatus, e.g. the UE, to tell the UE to change, e.g. to Cell 2.

[0452] Step 7: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store the measurements, e.g. for Celli and Cell3.

[0453] The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard, e.g. Cell2 measurements.

[0454] Step 8: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may complete the cell change to, e.g. Cell 2, in particular according to the type of cell change to be performed, e.g. LTM or L1 / L2 triggered cell switch, a L3 based handover etc. Alternatively, this may be a conditional handover or cell switch, in which case there is no handover command in step 6 (and there may be no need for the indication in the cell change command).

[0455] Fig. 1B shows an example signaling diagram according to subject-matter described herein, which in particular may be combined with the example shown in Fig. 1A. Fig. 1B may be combined with any of the example aspects and / or associated example embodiments mentioned herein. It should be noted that the flow chart of Fig. 1B may be regarded as a continuation of Fig. 1A and the steps may be similar as in Fig. 1A and / or they may correspondingly apply so that redundant features and / or steps may not necessarily be repeated. Fig. 1B may be described by the following non-limiting steps:

[0456] Step 8: As mentioned, this may be taken from Step 8 of Fig. 1A.

[0457] Step 9: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive a measurement configuration, e.g. for Cell 1 and Cell 4 from Cell 2. This may also optionally occur before step 8.Step 10: Since the measurement configuration may not have / include a measurement object (MO) for Cell 3, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard Cell 3 measurements it stored in step 7.

[0458] Step 11: When the measurement configuration from Cell 2 includes at least one measurement object for Cell 1 and the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may have stored Celli measurements in step 7, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may continue the measurement for Cell 1, e.g. without the need for cell detection / identification. The apparatus, e.g. the, UE may not measure or store Cell 4 measurements before the cell change, so that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may start these measurements from scratch, e.g. by detecting Cell 4.

[0459] Fig. 2A shows an example signaling diagram according to subject-matter described herein. It should be noted that the flow chart of Fig. 2A is merely an example, i.e. the steps depicted and / or discussed should not be considered as limiting. Fig. 2A may be combined with any of the example aspects and / or associated example embodiments mentioned herein. Fig. 2A may be described by the following non-limiting steps:

[0460] Step 1: The apparatus, e.g. the UE may be in a connected mode or state, e.g. a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connected state, e.g. with a cell, e.g. cell 1. This may be regarded as at least one serving cell to which the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is connected.

[0461] Step 2: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may, according to one example embodiment, may receive from the at least one serving cell of the network, e.g. Cell 1, at least one measurement (and / or reporting) configuration, which may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) reconfiguration, e.g. for Cell 1, Cell 2 and Cell 3. The measurement (and / or reporting) configuration may be a measurement (and / or reporting) configuration of at least one serving cell or a measurement configuration of at least one candidate cell.

[0462] Step 3: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may obtain measurement continuity information from at least one cell. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may measure at leastone cell, e.g. Cell 1, Cell 2 and Cell 3. The measurement may be based on the measurement (and / or reporting) configuration received in step 2.

[0463] Step 4: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive the at least one cell change command from the at least one serving cell of the network, e.g. to tell the UE to hand over to Cell 2.

[0464] Step 5: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may, determine based at least in part on at least one rule that is indicative of measurement continuity information which is to be stored in connection with a cell change procedure and based at least in part on a storing capability of the apparatus, whether to store the measurement continuity information for at least one cell in connection with the cell change procedure. In particular, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine based on the at least one rule to store, e.g. the measurements for Cell 1 and Cell 3. The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard, e.g. Cell 2 measurements.

[0465] Step 6: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may complete the cell change to, e.g. Cell 2, in particular according to the type of cell change to be performed, e.g. LTM or L1 / L2 triggered cell switch, a L3 based handover etc. Alternatively, this may be a conditional handover or cell switch, in which case there is no handover command in step 4.

[0466] Fig. 2B shows an example signaling diagram according to subject-matter described herein, which in particular may be combined with the example shown in Fig. 2A. Fig. 2B may be combined with any of the example aspects and / or associated example embodiments mentioned herein. It should be noted that the flow chart of Fig. 2B may be regarded as a continuation of Fig. 2A and the steps may be similar as in Fig. 2A and / or they may correspondingly apply so that redundant features and / or steps may not necessarily be repeated. Fig. 2B may be described by the following non-limiting steps:

[0467] Step 6: As mentioned, this may be taken from Step 6 of Fig. 2A.

[0468] Step 7: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive a measurement configuration, e.g. for Cell 1 and Cell 4 from Cell 2. This may also optionally occur before step 6.Step 10: Since the measurement configuration may not have / include a measurement object (MO) for Cell 3, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard Cell 3 measurements it stored in step 5.

[0469] Step 11: When the measurement configuration from Cell 2 includes at least one measurement object for Cell 1 and the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may have stored Celli measurements in step 5, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may continue the measurement for Cell 1, e.g. without the need for cell detection / identification. The apparatus, e.g. the, UE may not measure or store Cell 4 measurements before the cell change, so that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may start these measurements from scratch, e.g. by detecting Cell 4.

[0470] Fig. 3A shows an example signaling diagram according to subject-matter described herein. It should be noted that the flow chart of Fig. 3A is merely an example, i.e. the steps depicted and / or discussed should not be considered as limiting. Fig. 3A may be combined with any of the example aspects and / or associated example embodiments mentioned herein.

[0471] In another example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may store all or a subset of the measurement continuity information based at least in part on a selection, choice and / or decision of the apparatus, e.g. the UE. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may decide whether to store a measurement or not, in particular without (any) signaling between the apparatus, e.g. the UE, and the network. When the apparatus, e.g. the UE, chooses to store a measurement over the cell change and the (target) cell measurement configuration includes the same measurement, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, can continue the measurement without the need to detect / identify the cell / RS first. Apparatus, e.g. UE, selection may be based on any UE internal rule e.g. any of the rules described herein. Although this UE selection to store the measurements may not be directly visible to the network at the time of cell change in this example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, in doing so, may speed up the process of using the corresponding measurement in the (target) cell. For example, if the measurement reporting in the target cell is event-triggered, the UE may realize the condition for triggering the report may be met earlier than if cell detection / identification is needed first. The network may then get a report from the UE faster and can make faster mobility or Carrier Aggregation (CA) / Dual Connectivity (DC) decisions after the cell change. Fig. 3A may be described by the following non-limiting steps:Step 1: The apparatus, e.g. the UE may be in a connected mode or state, e.g. a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connected state, e.g. with a cell, e.g. cell 1. This may be regarded as at least one serving cell to which the apparatus, e.g. the UE, is connected.

[0472] Step 2: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may, according to one example embodiment, may receive from the at least one serving cell of the network, e.g.

[0473] Step 3: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may obtain measurement continuity information from at least one cell. For example, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may measure at least one cell, e.g. Cell 1, Cell 2 and Cell 3. The measurement may be based on the measurement (and / or reporting) configuration received in step 2.

[0474] Step 4: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive the at least one cell change command from the at least one serving cell of the network, e.g. to tell the UE to hand over to Cell 2.

[0475] Step 5: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine or decide based at least in part on at least one selection process and / or UE-implementation and based at least in part on a storing capability of the apparatus, whether to store the measurement continuity information for at least one cell in connection with the cell change procedure. In particular, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may determine to store, e.g. the measurements for Cell 1 and Cell 3.

[0476] Step 6: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may complete the cell change to, e.g. Cell 2, in particular according to the type of cell change to be performed, e.g. LTM or L1 / L2 triggered cell switch, a L3 based handover etc. Alternatively, this may be a conditional handover or cell switch, in which case there is no handover command in step 4.Fig. 3B shows an example signaling diagram according to subject-matter described herein, which in particular may be combined with the example shown in Fig. 3A. Fig. 3B may be combined with any of the example aspects and / or associated example embodiments mentioned herein. It should be noted that the flow chart of Fig. 3B may be regarded as a continuation of Fig. 3A and the steps may be similar as in Fig. 3A and / or they may correspondingly apply so that redundant features and / or steps may not necessarily be repeated. Fig. 3B may be described by the following non-limiting steps:

[0477] Step 6: As mentioned, this may be taken from Step 6 of Fig. 3A.

[0478] Step 7: The apparatus, e.g. the UE, may receive a measurement configuration, e.g. for Cell 1 and Cell 4 from Cell 2. This may also optionally occur before Step 6.

[0479] Step 10: Since the measurement configuration may not have / include a measurement object (MO) for Cell 3, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may discard Cell 3 measurements it stored in step 5.

[0480] Step 11: When the measurement configuration from Cell 2 includes at least one measurement object for Cell 1 and the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may have stored Celli measurements in step 5, the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may continue the measurement for Cell 1, e.g. without the need for cell detection / identification. The apparatus, e.g. the, UE may not measure or store Cell 4 measurements before the cell change, so that the apparatus, e.g. the UE, may start these measurements from scratch, e.g. by detecting Cell 4.
