Abstract
Description
Wallet
[0001] The present invention relates to a foldable wallet.
[0002] Conventionally, wallets configured to be deformable into a compact shape by folding are known. For example, the wallet disclosed in Patent Document 1 is a bifold wallet, comprising: a flexible belt-shaped wallet main body; a flexible cover body having the same shape as the wallet main body and disposed overlappingly so as to cover the outer surface side of the wallet main body; and a flexible coin storage body disposed on the inner surface side of the wallet main body. A bill storage portion is formed between the wallet main body and the cover body by continuously joining one longitudinal end edge of the wallet main body and the cover body and one side edge thereof. Further, the coin storage body has one longitudinal side region of the wallet main body as a bottom portion, and includes a side portion continuously extending in a substantially U-shape along one longitudinal end edge of the wallet main body and both side edges in the one longitudinal side region of the wallet main body, and a lid portion provided substantially at the center of the wallet main body and connected to both ends of the side portion. When the lid portion is tilted toward the side portion, the side portion is folded inside the bottom portion; when the lid portion is pulled up away from the side portion, the side portion is inverted in conjunction with the pulling so as to surround the bottom portion, thereby forming a coin storage space inside the side portion.
[0003] Japanese Patent No. 6902228
[0004] Incidentally, in the wallet as disclosed in Patent Document 1, different types of bills are stored and used in a single bill storage portion. Therefore, when taking out a desired bill, a different bill may be pulled out by mistake. To avoid this problem, it is conceivable to provide one or more partition walls inside the bill storage portion to divide the storage space into a plurality of sections. However, even in such a case, since the front and back surfaces of the bills cannot be seen when the wallet is opened, there is a risk that bills may be mistakenly put into or taken out from the divided sections for which the types of bills to be stored have been predetermined.
[0005] The present invention has been made in view of the foregoing problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a foldable wallet that allows easy insertion and removal of bills, can store different types of bills in an organized manner, and makes it difficult to mistakenly take out an incorrect bill.
[0006] To achieve the above objective, the present invention is characterized by having two areas for storing banknotes, and by devising a way to insert and remove banknotes from each of these areas.
[0007] Specifically, the target was wallets that could be folded by rolling them into thirds or by folding them in half, and the following measures were taken.
[0008] In other words, the wallet according to the first invention comprises a flexible wallet body in the shape of a strip, a flexible cover body disposed to cover the outer surface of the wallet body, and a flexible coin storage body disposed on the inner surface of the wallet body, wherein an outer banknote storage section is provided between the wallet body and the cover body, and an inner banknote storage section is provided between the wallet body and the coin storage body, wherein the outer banknote storage section is formed by joining a predetermined edge of the cover body to one longitudinal end edge of the wallet body and one side edge in one longitudinal region, and the inner banknote storage section is formed by joining a predetermined edge of the coin storage body to the other longitudinal end edge of the wallet body and the other side edge in the other longitudinal region.
[0009] The wallet according to the second invention is characterized in that, in the first invention, the coin storage body comprises a strip-shaped bottom portion extending along the wallet body, and side portions extending continuously along the edges of the bottom portion corresponding to the other longitudinal edge and the side edges in the other longitudinal region of the wallet body, respectively, wherein the side portions are configured to fold inward from the bottom portion when the coin storage body is folded, and to invert from the edges of the bottom portion so as to surround the bottom portion when the coin storage body is extended, thereby forming a coin storage space inside.
[0010] The wallet according to the third invention is characterized in that, in the first or second invention, a flexible sheet-like first card holder is attached to the wallet body side of the coin storage body, forming a first card storage space between itself and the coin storage body in which a card can be stored.
[0011] The wallet according to the fourth invention is characterized in that, in the third invention, the first card holder has a slit extending along the width direction of the wallet body, and the coin storage body on the side of the first card holder is provided with a flexible card pulling operation member whose base end is fixed to the coin storage body, while the middle part from the tip end passes through the slit and is located between the wallet body and the first card holder.
[0012] The fifth invention is characterized in that, in the first or second invention, a flexible sheet-like second card holder is attached to the wallet body at a position corresponding to the coin compartment of the wallet body, forming a second card storage space between itself and the wallet body in which cards can be stored.
[0013] The wallet according to the sixth invention is characterized in that, in the first or second invention, it comprises a flexible holder body in the shape of a sheet, provided in one longitudinal region of the wallet body, with a predetermined edge joined to at least one longitudinal end edge of the wallet body.
[0014] In the first invention, the wallet has two compartments for storing banknotes, and different banknotes can be stored in each compartment, allowing for the organization of different types of banknotes. Furthermore, the inner banknote compartment has a large opening between it and the coin compartment on one side edge of the wallet body, making it easy to insert and remove banknotes from that area, while the outer banknote compartment has a large opening between it and the cover on the other side edge of the wallet body, making it easy to insert and remove banknotes from that area as well. Therefore, it is possible to create a wallet that is easy to use. Moreover, banknotes are inserted and removed from the inner banknote compartment from one side edge of the wallet body, while banknotes are inserted and removed from the outer banknote compartment from the other side edge of the wallet body. Therefore, since the insertion and removal of banknotes to each compartment is in opposite directions, it becomes easier to remember the types of banknotes stored in each compartment, resulting in a user-friendly wallet.
[0015] In the second invention, when the coin compartment is folded, the sides of the coin compartment fold inward towards the bottom, resulting in a compact overall shape for the folded wallet. Therefore, it can be made into a wallet that is easy to carry. In addition, since the coin storage space is formed in conjunction with the action of opening the coin compartment, coins can be efficiently taken in and out of the coin storage space.
[0016] In the third invention, a portion of the coin compartment can be used to store cards, thus creating a wallet with high storage capacity.
[0017] In the wallet of the fourth invention, when the card extraction operating member is pulled while the first card holder is holding a card, the card extraction operating member pushes the card held by the first card holder out from between the first card holder and the coin storage compartment. Therefore, the card stored in the first card storage space can be easily removed.
[0018] In the fifth invention, the wallet can store cards by utilizing the space between the coin compartment and the wallet body, thus enabling a wallet with even greater storage capacity.
[0019] In the wallet of the sixth invention, banknotes can be stored by placing one end of the banknote between the holder and the wallet body, while the other end of the banknote is placed between the coin compartment and the wallet body. Therefore, since the front and back of the banknote can be easily seen when storing the banknote, it is easy to know what kind of banknote is stored in the inner banknote compartment.

[0021] The embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Note that the following description of preferred embodiments is essentially illustrative.
[0022] Figures 1 to 3 show a tri-fold wallet 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. This wallet 1 comprises a flexible leather wallet body 2 in the shape of a strip, a flexible leather cover body 3 in the shape of a strip disposed on the outer side of the wallet body 2, a flexible sheet-like holder body 4 disposed in one longitudinal region on the inner side of the wallet body 2, and a flexible coin storage body 5 disposed in the other longitudinal region on the inner side of the wallet body 2. When the opening on the front is opened, the holder body 4 and the coin storage body 5 are revealed on the inner side of the wallet body 2.
[0023] As shown in Figure 4, a first female snap button 21 and a second female snap button 22 are attached to the outer surface of the wallet body 2 at predetermined intervals, sequentially from the central region to the other end region along the longitudinal direction of the wallet body 2.
[0024] The cover body 3 is shaped to cover the outer surface of the wallet body 2 from one end in the longitudinal direction to the middle. As shown in Figures 2 to 4, the longitudinal end edge 3a of the cover body 3, one side edge 3b in the longitudinal region, and the other side edge 3c in the longitudinal region are joined to the longitudinal end edge 2a, one side edge 2b in the longitudinal region, and the other side edge 2c of the longitudinal region of the wallet body 2 by stitching and adhesive bonding, respectively.
[0025] As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the length L1 of the joint B1 between the side edge 2b of the wallet body 2 and the side edge 3b of the cover body 3 is set to be longer than the length L2 of the joint B2 between the side edge 2c of the wallet body 2 and the side edge 3c of the cover body 3.
[0026] As shown in Figure 4, a reinforcing fabric material 3d is attached to the wallet body 2 side of the other end region in the longitudinal direction of the cover body 3, extending along the other end in the longitudinal direction of the cover body 3. The edge of this reinforcing fabric material 3d located on the one end side in the longitudinal direction of the wallet body 2 has a gently curved, bow-like shape.
[0027] A first male snap button 31, which can be engaged with and disengaged from the first female snap button 21 of the wallet body 2, is attached to the central part of the reinforcing fabric material 3d.
[0028] Between the wallet body 2 and the cover body 3, there is an outer banknote storage section 10A capable of storing banknotes M1. Specifically, the outer banknote storage section 10A is formed by continuously joining a predetermined edge of the cover body 3 to one longitudinal end edge 2a and one longitudinal side edge 2b of the wallet body 2.
[0029] When the first male snap button 31 is engaged with the first female snap button 21, as shown in Figure 2, the cover body 3 covers the outer surface of the wallet body 2 and can hold the banknotes M1 stored in the outer banknote storage section 10A. On the other hand, when the first male snap button 31 is disengaged from the first female snap button 21, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, the cover body 3 is separated from the wallet body 2, allowing banknotes M1 to be inserted into and removed from the outer banknote storage section 10A.
[0030] As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the holder body 4 is provided on the inner surface of one longitudinal end region of the wallet body 2 and has a shape that extends along the width direction of the wallet body.
[0031] The holder body 4 has edges that correspond to the longitudinal end edge 2a, one side edge 2b in the longitudinal region, and the other side edge 2c in the longitudinal region of the wallet body 2, which are continuously joined by stitching and adhesive bonding.
[0032] Furthermore, the holder body 4 has an edge located on the other end in the longitudinal direction of the wallet body 2 that is gently curved in an arc shape. This area is not joined to the wallet body 2, and banknotes M2 can be held between it and the wallet body 2.
[0033] A second male snap button 41, which can be engaged with and disengaged from the second female snap button 22 of the wallet body 2, is attached to the central part of the holder body 4. A thin leather cover (not shown) is provided approximately in the center of the back side of the holder body 4 to cover the back fastening fitting on the back side of the second male snap button 41. This leather cover prevents the banknotes M1 from getting caught on the back fastening fitting of the second male snap button 41 when the banknotes M1 are stored in the outer banknote storage section 10A.
[0034] When the wallet 1 is folded and the second male snap button 41 is engaged with the second female snap button 22, the wallet 1 is folded and becomes compact, as shown in Figure 1. Conversely, when the second male snap button 41 is detached from the second female snap button 22, the wallet 1 can be opened, as shown in Figure 2.
[0035] As shown in Figures 2 to 4, the coin storage compartment 5 comprises a strip-shaped bottom portion 6 that extends along the wallet body 2, and a side portion 7 that extends continuously along the edge of the bottom portion 6, excluding one longitudinal edge.
[0036] The bottom portion 6 is roughly rectangular in shape and covers the inner surface of the region on the other side in the longitudinal direction of the wallet body 2. The other end edge 6b and the other side edge 6c of the region on the other side in the longitudinal direction, which correspond to the other end edge 2d and the other side edge 2c of the region on the other side in the longitudinal direction of the wallet body 2, are joined to the other end edge 2d and the other side edge 2c by stitching and adhesive bonding, respectively.
[0037] A third male snap button 61 is attached to approximately the center of the longitudinal end region of the bottom portion 6.
[0038] The side portion 7 has a shape formed by connecting the first side wall portion 71, the second side wall portion 72, and the third side wall portion 73, which are each strip-shaped, in series and in a U-shape.
[0039] One side edge 71a of the first side wall 71 is joined to one side edge 6a of the bottom surface 6, one side edge 72a of the second side wall 72 is joined to the other longitudinal edge 6b of the bottom surface 6, and one side edge 73a of the third side wall 73 is joined to the other side edge 6c of the bottom surface 6.
[0040] In other words, the side portion 7 extends continuously along the edges of the bottom portion 6, which correspond to the other longitudinal edge portion 2d of the wallet body 2 and the side edges 2b and 2c in the other longitudinal region, respectively.
[0041] A third female snap button 72b, which can engage with and disengage a third male snap button 61, is attached approximately in the center of the outer surface of the second side wall portion 72.
[0042] Valley fold lines are provided approximately in the center of the outer surface of the first side wall portion 71 and approximately in the center of the outer surface of the third side wall portion 73. When the bottom portion 6 is folded in half at approximately the center of its longitudinal direction, that is, when the coin storage body 5 is folded, the first side wall portion 71 and the third side wall portion 73 are folded together as they move closer to each other, and the second side wall portion 72 is pulled by the first side wall portion 71 and the third side wall portion 73 and folds inward towards the inner surface of the bottom portion 6, so as to fit inside the bottom portion 6 (see Figure 2).
[0043] When the coin storage body 5 is folded, the third male snap button 61 can be engaged with the third female snap button 72b, so that the bottom surface portion 6 can be maintained in a double-folded state.
[0044] On the other hand, when the double-folded bottom surface portion 6 is opened, the second side wall portion 72 moves while pulling the first side wall portion 71 and the third side wall portion 73, whereby the first side wall portion 71, the second side wall portion 72 and the third side wall portion 73 are inverted in a shape extending substantially in a U-shape along the edge of the bottom surface portion 6 (see FIG. 3).
[0045] That is, the side surface portion 7 is folded inside the bottom surface portion 6 when the coin storage body 5 is folded, and when the coin storage body 5 is unfolded, the side surface portion 7 is inverted from the edge of the bottom surface portion 6 so as to surround the bottom surface portion 6, thereby forming a coin storage space S1 inside the bottom surface portion 6.
[0046] The wallet main body 2, the holder body 4 and the coin storage body 5 constitute an inner banknote storage portion 10B capable of storing banknotes M2. That is, the inner banknote storage portion 10B is formed by continuously joining a predetermined edge portion of the coin storage body 5 to the other longitudinal end edge portion 2d of the wallet main body 2 and the other side edge portion 2c in the other longitudinal region, and the banknote M2 can be held by sandwiching the banknote M2 between the wallet main body 2 and the coin storage body 5.
[0047] Further, when one end side of the banknote M2 is sandwiched in the holder body 4 and the other end side of the banknote M2 is sandwiched between the wallet main body 2 and the coin storage body 5, the banknote M2 can be firmly held.
[0048] As shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, a flexible sheet-shaped first card holder 8 extending in a band shape from one side edge 6a to the other side edge 6c of the bottom surface portion 6 of the coin storage body 5 is attached to the wallet main body 2 side of the coin storage body 5.
[0049] One end edge and the other end edge of the first card holder 8 are respectively sewn to extend linearly with respect to the bottom surface portion 6 and joined by adhesive bonding, so that a first card storage space S2 capable of storing a card K is formed between the first card holder 8 and the bottom surface portion 6.
[0050] A slit 8a is formed in the middle of the first card holder 8, extending along the width direction of the wallet body 2.
[0051] A strip-shaped card dispensing operating member 11 is provided on the bottom surface 6 on the side of the first card holder 8. The base end of this card dispensing operating member 11 is fixed to the bottom surface 6, while the middle part from the tip side passes through the slit 8a and is positioned between the wallet body 2 and the first card holder 8.
[0052] Then, when card K is inserted into the first card storage space S2 from one end of the bottom portion 6, the first card holder 8 holds card K between itself and the bottom portion 6, as shown in Figure 7.
[0053] With card K being held by the first card holder 8, when the card extraction operating member 11 is grasped by its tip and pulled, as shown in Figure 8, the middle part of the card extraction operating member 11 gradually moves toward one end of the bottom surface 6, pushing card K out of the first card storage space S2.
[0054] As shown in Figure 6, a flexible, sheet-like second card holder 9 is attached to the wallet body 2 at a position corresponding to the coin compartment 5, extending in a strip shape from one side edge 2b to the other side edge.
[0055] One end and the other end of the second card holder 9 are sewn to the wallet body 2 in an L-shape and joined together with adhesive, forming a second card storage space S3 between the second card holder 9 and the wallet body 2, in which a card K can be stored.
[0056] Furthermore, as shown in Figure 6, a protruding portion 9a is formed in the central part of the edge of the second card holder 9 that is farther from the one end edge 2a of the wallet body 2, so as to extend away from the one end edge 2a. This protruding portion 9a covers the back fastening fitting on the back side of the first female snap button 21, so that the banknotes M2 do not get caught on the back fastening fitting of the first female snap button 21 when the banknotes M2 are stored in the inner banknote storage section 10B.
[0057] Thus, the wallet 1 of the embodiment of the present invention has two areas for storing banknotes M1 and M2, and different banknotes M1 and M2 can be stored in the respective areas of the outer banknote storage section 10A and the inner banknote storage section 10B, so that different types of banknotes M1 and M2 can be organized.
[0058] Furthermore, the inner banknote compartment 10B has a large opening between it and the coin compartment 5 on one side edge 2b of the wallet body 2, making it easy to insert and remove banknotes M2 from that section, while the outer banknote compartment 10A has a large opening between it and the cover body 3 on the other side edge 2c of the wallet body 2, making it easy to insert and remove banknotes M1 from that section. Therefore, a wallet 1 with a good user experience can be created. Moreover, banknotes M2 can be inserted and removed from the inner banknote compartment 10B from one side edge 2b of the wallet body 2, while banknotes M1 can be inserted and removed from the outer banknote compartment 10A from the other side edge 2c of the wallet body 2. Therefore, since the insertion and removal of banknotes M1 and M2 from each compartment 10A and 10B are in opposite directions, it becomes easier to remember the types of banknotes M1 and M2 stored in each compartment 10A and 10B, resulting in a user-friendly wallet 1.
[0059] Furthermore, when the coin compartment 5 is folded, the side portion 7 of the coin compartment 5 folds inward into the bottom portion 6, resulting in a compact shape for the folded wallet 1. Therefore, the wallet 1 can be made easy to carry. In addition, the coin storage space S1 is formed in conjunction with the opening of the coin compartment 5, allowing for efficient insertion and removal of coins from the coin storage space S1.
[0060] Furthermore, since the first card holder 8 is attached to the bottom surface 6 of the coin storage compartment 5, the coin storage compartment 5 can be used to store the card K. Therefore, the wallet 1 can be made to have a high storage capacity.
[0061] Furthermore, when the card extraction operating member 11 is pulled while the first card holder 8 is holding card K, the card extraction operating member 11 pushes card K out from between the first card holder 8 and the coin storage unit 5. Therefore, card K stored in the first card storage space S2 can be easily removed.
[0062] Furthermore, since the second card holder 9 is positioned to correspond to the coin compartment 5 of the wallet body 2, the space between the coin compartment 5 and the wallet body 2 can be used to store the card K. Therefore, the wallet 1 can have an even higher storage capacity.
[0063] Furthermore, the inner banknote storage section 10B stores the banknote M2 by sandwiching one end of the banknote M2 between the wallet body 2 and the holder body 4, and sandwiching the other end of the banknote M2 between the wallet body 2 and the coin storage section 5. This allows the banknote M2 to be stored in a way that makes it easy to see both the front and back sides. Therefore, it is easy to know which banknote M2 is stored in the inner banknote storage section 10B.
[0064] In the embodiments of the present invention, the side edges 2c of the wallet body 2 and the side edges 3c of the cover body 3 are joined together, but joining these parts is not essential.
[0065] Furthermore, although the embodiments of the present invention include a first card holder 8 and a second card holder 9, it is not essential to include both of these. The structure may include only one of them, or neither may be included.
[0066] Furthermore, in the embodiment of the present invention, the side portion 7 is provided on the edges of the bottom portion 6 excluding one longitudinal edge, but the side portion 7 may also be provided on one longitudinal edge of the bottom portion 6 so as to surround the entire circumference of the bottom portion 6.
[0067] Although the wallet 1 of the present invention is formed by processing flexible leather, the wallet 1 may also be manufactured with each component having the front and back surfaces of the leather facing in opposite directions, i.e., the grain side and the flesh side. For example, if the bottom surface 6 side of the first card holder 8 is made the flesh side of the leather, and the wallet body 2 side from the tip to the middle of the card extraction operating member 11 is made the grain side of the leather, then when the card extraction operation is performed by the card extraction operating member 11, the frictional resistance between the bottom surface 6 side of the first card holder 8 and the card extraction operating member 11 is reduced, thereby improving operability.
[0068] Furthermore, although the wallet 1 of the present invention is applied to a tri-fold type wallet, the present invention can also be applied to a bi-fold type wallet.
[0069] This invention is suitable for foldable wallets.
