[0016] Detailed Implementation

[0017] Embodiments of this disclosure will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. While some embodiments of this disclosure are shown in the drawings, it should be understood that this disclosure can be implemented in various forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Rather, these embodiments are provided to provide a more thorough and complete understanding of this disclosure. It should be understood that the accompanying drawings and embodiments of this disclosure are for illustrative purposes only and are not intended to limit the scope of protection of this disclosure.

[0018] In the description of embodiments of this disclosure, the term "comprising" and similar terms should be understood as open-ended inclusion, i.e., "including but not limited to". The term "based on" should be understood as "at least partially based on". The term "one embodiment" or "this embodiment" should be understood as "at least one embodiment". The term "some embodiments" should be understood as "at least some embodiments". Other explicit and implicit definitions may also be included below.

[0019] In this document, unless explicitly stated otherwise, performing a step in response to A does not mean that the step is performed immediately after A, but may include one or more intermediate steps.

[0020] It is understood that the data involved in this technical solution (including but not limited to the data itself, the acquisition or use of the data) shall comply with the requirements of relevant laws, regulations and related provisions.

[0021] It is understood that before using the technical solutions disclosed in the various embodiments of this disclosure, users should be informed of the types, scope of use, and usage scenarios of the personal information involved in this disclosure through appropriate means in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and user authorization should be obtained.

[0022] For example, in response to receiving a user's active request, a prompt message is sent to the user to clearly inform the user that the requested operation will require the acquisition and use of the user's personal information, thereby enabling the user to choose whether to provide personal information to the software or hardware such as electronic devices, applications, servers or storage media that perform the operation of the technical solution disclosed herein, based on the prompt message.

[0023] As an optional but non-restrictive implementation, in response to a user's active request, a prompt message can be sent to the user, such as a pop-up window, which can display the prompt message in text format. Furthermore, the pop-up window can also include a selection control allowing the user to choose "agree" or "disagree" to provide personal information to the electronic device.

[0024] It is understood that the above notification and user authorization process are merely illustrative and do not constitute a limitation on the implementation of this disclosure. Other methods that comply with relevant laws and regulations may also be applied to the implementation of this disclosure. As briefly mentioned above, users often have the need to fast forward, rewind, or jump to a specific point in time when watching audio and video. Conventionally, for some video applications, users can issue commands to adjust the media content using the up and down keys, thereby directly adjusting the progress of the media content. For other video applications, users can issue commands to display a progress bar using the up, down, left, and right keys, thereby raising the progress bar. Furthermore, users can issue commands to adjust the media content again using the left and right keys, thereby adjusting the progress of the media content. However, none of the above methods can achieve fast playback of media content, and both require entering a separate player for playback. Accordingly, there are no interactive controls during the playback of media content, and the above video applications are mainly suitable for media content with a longer duration.

[0025] Furthermore, in some video applications, clicking the up or down arrow key triggers a switch to the previous or next video. Clicking the left or right arrow key triggers actions like saving, liking, or commenting. In this scenario, clicking the up or down arrow key directly switches to other media content, thus degrading the user experience. Similarly, clicking the left or right arrow key does not adjust the playback progress.

[0026] In view of this, this disclosure proposes an improved scheme for playback control. According to an embodiment of this disclosure, a first frame of a first video is presented. If a first operation is received on a first control, a progress control mode for the first video is triggered. The first operation indicates that the first control is continuously triggered within a predetermined time period. Further, in response to detecting a first operation and / or a second operation on the first control, the playback progress of the first video is adjusted, wherein the second operation indicates a click on the first control.

[0027] In this way, based on specific operations on the controls, a progress control mode is triggered, and in this mode, the video playback progress can be adjusted through further operations on the controls. Progress control mode allows users to focus on adjusting the playback progress, enhancing the user experience.

[0028] Example embodiments of this disclosure are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0029] Figure 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of an example environment 100 in which embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In this example environment 100, an instance of application 120 is installed on a terminal device 130. A user 132 can interact with application 120 via an attachment device 110 of the terminal device 130. In some embodiments, the attachment device 110 can be any type of attachment device, such as a remote control, keyboard, mouse, light pen, handwriting input tablet, voice input device, etc.

[0030] In some embodiments, application 120 can be any suitable application that can provide adjustment services to user 132. As an example, application 120 can be an adjustment-type application. As another example, application 120 can be an instant messaging (IM) application. It should be understood that the above are merely examples of application 120 and are not intended to be limiting; application 120 can be any suitable type of application that provides adjustment services. In environment 100 of FIG1, if application 120 is active, terminal device 130 can present the interface 150 of application 120. Interface 150 can include various types of pages that application 120 can provide, such as playback pages, browsing pages, viewing pages, etc.

[0031] In some embodiments, terminal device 130 can communicate with a server to provide services to application 120. Terminal device 130 can be any type of mobile terminal, fixed terminal, or portable terminal, including mobile phones, desktop computers, laptop computers, notebook computers, netbook computers, tablet computers, media computers, multimedia tablets, personal communication system (PCS) devices, personal navigation devices, personal digital assistants (PDAs), audio / video players, digital cameras / camcorders, positioning devices, television receivers, radio receivers, e-book devices, gaming devices, or any combination thereof, including accessories and peripherals of these devices or any combination thereof. In some embodiments, terminal device 130 can also support any type of user-facing interface (such as "wearable" circuitry). The server can be any type of computing system / server capable of providing computing power, including but not limited to mainframes, edge computing nodes, computing devices in cloud environments, etc.

[0032] It should be understood that the structure and function of the various elements in environment 100 are described for illustrative purposes only and do not imply any limitation on the scope of this disclosure.

[0033] Various exemplary implementations of this disclosure will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. It should be understood that the pages shown in the drawings are merely examples, and various page designs are possible in practice. The various graphic elements on the page may have different arrangements and different visual representations, one or more of which may be omitted or replaced, and one or more other elements may also be present. The embodiments of this disclosure are not limited in this respect. Furthermore, in the following description, exemplary embodiments will be primarily described with respect to terminal device 130. It should be understood that the actions described with respect to terminal device 130 may be performed by application 120 on terminal device 130, or may be performed by application 120 in conjunction with its server (e.g., a server).

[0034] Figures 2A to 2K show schematic diagrams of example interfaces 200A to 200K for playback control according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0035] In embodiments of this disclosure, terminal device 130 presents a first frame of a first video. In some embodiments, terminal device 130 may play the first video. In some embodiments, the first video may also be a dynamically played collection of images, animated images, or other dynamically playable content. The first video may be provided in any suitable application or platform of terminal device 130. In some embodiments, user 132 may interact with application 120 through an attachment device 110 of terminal device 130 (e.g., a remote control). In some embodiments, user 132 may adjust the first video through the attachment device 110 of terminal device 130 (e.g., a remote control). For example, user 132 may adjust the first video through controls such as the up button, down button, left button, right button, back button, and home button for returning to the home page on the remote control. The attachment device of terminal device 130 may be any type of attachment device, and this disclosure does not limit it. For example, the attachment device 110 can also be various types of handles, such as wired handles, wireless handles, analog handles, joystick-type handles, etc., for controlling video playback. In some scenarios, these handles can be used to control a virtual remote control, thereby controlling video playback. The virtual remote control can be displayed in a virtual interface. For example, in a virtual reality (VR) scenario, moving the joysticks of these handles to the right, left, up, down, etc., can trigger the right, left, up, down, etc., buttons on the virtual remote control. Correspondingly, continuously moving the joystick to the left or right can trigger the left or right button of the virtual remote control by long-pressing.

[0036] In embodiments of this disclosure, if terminal device 130 detects a first operation on a first control, it triggers a progress control mode for the first video. In some embodiments, the first operation indicates continuous triggering of the first control within a predetermined time period, such as a long press operation on the first control; therefore, the first operation is also referred to as a long press trigger. In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 determines that the progress control mode has been triggered, it can display a progress bar for the first video. As shown in example interface 200B of FIG2B, when the progress control mode is triggered, terminal device 130 can display a progress bar for the first video in the user interface (such as example interface 200B). In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 continuously detects a trigger instruction from user 132 on the first control within a predetermined time period (e.g., 0.5 seconds, or any other appropriate time), it can enter the progress control mode. Accordingly, a progress bar for the first video is displayed in the progress control mode. In some embodiments, in the progress control mode, terminal device 130 can display the adjusted playback progress of the first video on the progress bar.

[0037] That is, user 132 can long-press the first control to enter the progress control mode. In this embodiment of the present disclosure, after entering the progress control mode, if terminal device 130 detects a first operation and / or a second operation on the first control, it adjusts the playback progress of the first video. In the progress control mode, different operations on the first control are supported to adjust the playback progress. As mentioned above, the first operation may include a long-press trigger. In some embodiments, the second operation indicates a click trigger on the first control, such as a short-press operation on the first control. In the progress control mode, based on the long-press trigger and / or click trigger detected in the progress control mode, terminal device 130 can adjust the playback progress of the first video in the backward or forward direction. That is, in the progress control mode, fast-forwarding or rewinding of the playback progress is allowed. User 132 can adjust the playback progress of the first video based on the first control included in the attached device 110, for example, fast-forwarding or rewinding.

[0038] In some embodiments, the first control may include directional controls in the attached device 110 (e.g., a remote control), such as a left-turn control (i.e., a left button) and / or a right-turn control (i.e., a right button). In some examples, the left-turn control may indicate a backward direction, and the right-turn control may indicate a forward direction. It should be understood that, in scenarios used to trigger entry into the progress control mode for the first video, the first control may also indicate any other control capable of triggering entry into the progress control mode. As shown in the example interfaces 200A to 200B of Figures 2A to 2B, with the playback control 211 selected, the user 132 may press and hold the left button or right button included in the attached device 110 to enter the progress control mode, thereby adjusting the playback progress of the first video. If the terminal device 130 continuously detects the triggering of the left button or right button on the attached device 110 within a predetermined time period (e.g., 0.5 seconds, or any other appropriate time), it may trigger the progress control mode for the first video. A progress bar 220 is displayed in frame 226, which is used to present the first video.

[0039] In some embodiments, the terminal device 130 may present multiple interface elements for triggering interaction with the first video while presenting the first frame of the first video. As shown in the example interface 200A of FIG2A, the terminal device 130 may present the first video in the first frame (such as frame 226 in example interface 200A). Accordingly, the terminal device 130 may also present multiple interface elements for triggering interaction with the first video in the area associated with frame 226. For example, like control 221, comment control 222, description information 223, and other interface elements.

[0040] In some embodiments, in the non-progress control mode for the first video, the first control can be used to switch the interface elements associated with the first video. At this time, in the non-progress control mode, the first video can be in a playing state or a paused state. That is, the progress control mode and the non-progress control mode are mainly used to distinguish whether to control the playback progress of the video, i.e., to control the video to fast forward or rewind. In the non-progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 detects a second operation on the first control (e.g., a click trigger), it can switch from the first interface element associated with the first video to the second interface element associated with the first video. Further, in the non-progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 detects a first operation on the first control (e.g., a long press trigger), it can activate the progress control mode for the first video. As shown in the example interface 200A of FIG2A, in the non-progress control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 detects a click trigger on the right control (e.g., a right-click), it can switch from the playback control 211 to the like control 221. Accordingly, in the non-progress control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 detects a click trigger on a left-click control (e.g., the left button), it can switch from the like control 221 to the play control 211o.

[0041] In some embodiments, in progress control mode, terminal device 130 can hide multiple interface elements. In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 determines that progress control mode has been triggered, it can hide multiple interface elements in the area associated with screen 226, but can continue to display the progress bar of the first video. That is, in progress control mode, multiple interface elements in the interface are hidden. As shown in example interface 200J in FIG2J, in progress control mode, terminal device 130 can cancel the display of other interface elements in the area associated with screen 226, for example, cancel the display of like control 221, comment control 222, description information 223, etc. Terminal device 130 only displays the first video, progress bar 220, thumbnail 227, and navigation bar 2101 in the interface. As shown in example interface 200K in FIG2K, terminal device 130 can only display the first video, progress bar 220, and thumbnail 227 in the user interface (such as example interface 200K). By hiding other UI elements that are not related to progress control, users can focus on controlling the playback progress.

[0042] In some embodiments, in progress control mode, the progress bar of the first video can be presented with a specific visual style. In some examples, terminal device 130 can highlight the progress bar 220, for example, by increasing the brightness, clarity, etc., of the progress bar 220 in progress control mode compared to its brightness and clarity in non-progress control mode. For example, terminal device 130 can also increase the width of the progress bar in progress control mode compared to its width in non-progress control mode, or present the progress bar 220 with a filled visual style. In progress control mode, terminal device 130 can also adjust the position in which the progress bar 220 is presented. For example, relative to its position in non-progress control mode, the progress bar can be moved upward by a predetermined unit (e.g., closer to the center of the user interface) in progress control mode. However, these are merely exemplary and are not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure.

[0043] In some embodiments, in a non-progression control mode for the first video, the terminal device 130 can determine whether to display a progress bar while presenting the first video based on the total duration of the first video. In the non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 determines that the total duration of the first video exceeds a certain duration threshold (sometimes referred to herein as a fourth duration threshold), it can display a progress bar while presenting the first video (e.g., playing the first video). In some examples, the terminal device 130 presents the progress bar in a first visual style while playing the first video. In other cases, in the non-progression control mode for the first video, if the total duration of the first video is less than the fourth duration threshold, the terminal device 130 may not display a progress bar while playing the first video. This is because, with the same display interface size, if the video length is short, the dynamic change in the playback progress in the progress bar per unit time will be relatively large, which may affect the user's attention to the first video. As shown in the example interface 200A of Figure 2A, in the non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 determines that the total duration of the first video is less than a fourth duration threshold (e.g., 30 seconds or any other suitable duration), it can not display the progress bar 220 while playing the first video. This avoids the problem of the progress bar 220 moving too quickly and distracting the user. As shown in the example interface 200C of Figure 2C, in the non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 determines that the total duration of the first video is greater than a fourth duration threshold (e.g., 30 seconds or any other suitable duration), it can display the progress bar 220 in a first visual style 231 while playing the first video. For example, compared to not displaying the progress bar 220 in the user interface, the terminal device 130 can display the progress bar 220 with a lower brightness. However, this is merely exemplary, and this disclosure is not limited thereto; for example, the grayscale of the progress bar could also be reduced, etc. In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 detects a pause control instruction for pausing playback of the first video, it may present the progress bar in a second visual style. In some embodiments, the first visual style differs from the second visual style, i.e., the second visual style highlights the progress bar 220 more than the first visual style. As shown in the example interface 200D of FIG2D, if the terminal device 130 detects a pause playback instruction for the first video, it may present the progress bar 220 in the user interface (e.g., example interface 200D) in the second visual style. In some examples, in the scenario of pausing playback of the first video, the terminal device 130 may highlight the progress bar 220 in the user interface (e.g., example interface 200D), for example, relative to displaying the progress bar 220 in the first visual style. In some cases, terminal device 130 may increase the brightness, clarity, etc. of the progress bar 220. For example, compared to displaying the progress bar 220 in a first visual style, terminal device 130 may also increase the width of the progress bar or display the progress bar 220 in a filled visual style. However, these are merely exemplary and are not limited thereto. In some embodiments, in a non-progress control mode for the first video, if terminal device 130 detects a pause playback indication for the first video, it may maintain the presentation of multiple interface elements. In some embodiments, in a non-progress control mode for the first video, if terminal device 130 detects a pause playback indication for the first video, it may maintain the presentation of multiple interface elements instead of hiding these interface elements. As shown in the example interface 200D of FIG2D, if terminal device 130 detects a pause playback indication for the first video, it may maintain the presentation of multiple interface elements (e.g., like control 221, comment control 222, etc.) in the user interface for user 132 to perform interactive operations associated with the first video.

[0044] In some embodiments, in the non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 detects a pause playback indication for the first video, it may also present guidance information related to triggering and / or exiting the progress control mode, such as guidance information to guide the user to trigger the progress control mode, and / or guidance information to prompt the user to cancel the progress control mode. As shown in the example interface 200D of FIG2D, if the terminal device 130 detects a trigger of the pause playback control for the first video, it may present guidance information 241 to guide the user to trigger the progress control mode. In some embodiments, the terminal device 130 may determine whether the guidance information has been presented to the user once or multiple times. If the guidance information has been presented to the user once or multiple times, it means that the user may already know how to trigger and / or exit the progress control mode, and therefore may no longer need to provide guidance information when the first video is paused. If the guidance information has been presented, the terminal device 130 may cancel the presentation of the guidance information 241 after a predetermined time period (e.g., 10 seconds or any other appropriate duration).

[0045] The following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings, describes how the terminal device 130 adjusts the playback progress of the first video based on a first operation and / or a second operation on the first control after entering the progress control mode. For ease of understanding, the playback progress of the first video is first illustrated by reference to FIG. 2B. In the example of FIG. 2B, the progress control mode of the first video has been triggered. When entering the progress control mode, the current playback progress of the first video is assumed to be from the start of the progress bar 220 (at 0 seconds) to position A 224o of the progress bar 220; that is, the progress currently indicated by the progress bar 220 is the current playback progress of the first video. In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 determines that the progress control mode has been triggered, it can advance the playback progress of the first video by a first predetermined amount based on the first control, including a rightward control. For example, if terminal device 130 detects that user 132 has pressed and held the right button, it can trigger the progress control mode and advance the playback progress of the first video by a first predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or any other appropriate predetermined amount) to achieve the effect of triggering the progress control mode and fast forwarding once at the same time.

[0046] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 determines that the progress control mode has been triggered, it can rewind the playback progress of the first video by a second predetermined amount based on a first control, including a left-click control. For example, if the terminal device 130 detects that the user 132 has long-pressed the left button, it can trigger the progress control mode and rewind the playback progress of the first video by a second predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount), thereby achieving the effect of simultaneously triggering the progress control mode and a single rewind.

[0047] Assuming the progress control mode is triggered by pressing and holding the right or left button (i.e., the right or left directional control), upon entering progress control mode by pressing and holding the right or left button (e.g., for 0.5 seconds), a single fast-forward or rewind of the playback progress can be performed first. In some embodiments, the first predetermined amount for fast-forwarding and the second predetermined amount for rewinding can be the same time or different times.

[0048] Furthermore, in progress control mode, terminal device 130 can start playback from a point forward or backward by a first predetermined amount. If a first and / or second operation on the first control is detected, the playback progress of the first video can continue to be adjusted. Understandably, after triggering progress control mode and moving forward or backward by a first predetermined amount, if terminal device 130 detects a first and / or second operation on the first control, it can continue to adjust the playback progress of the first video. For example, user 132 enters progress control mode by long-pressing the left or right button. At this time, the playback progress of the first video is also forward or backward by 5 seconds. Based on this, user 132 can click again, or long-press the left or right button, in progress control mode to continue adjusting the playback progress of the first video.

[0049] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 detects a first operation on the first control, it adjusts the playback progress of the first video by a multiplier. If the terminal device 130 detects a continuous trigger (e.g., a long press) on the right-pointing control (i.e., the right button), it can fast-forward the first video at a multiplier. If the terminal device 130 detects a continuous trigger (e.g., a long press) on the left-pointing control (i.e., the left button), it can rewind the first video at a multiplier. In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 detects a second operation on the first control (e.g., a click), it adjusts the playback progress of the first video by a predetermined amount. If the terminal device 130 detects a click on the right-pointing control (i.e., the right button), it can fast-forward the first video by a predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount). If the terminal device 130 detects a click on the left-pointing control (i.e., the left button), it can rewind the first video by a predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount).

[0050] In some embodiments, the terminal device 130 can fast forward or rewind the video playback progress based on the user 132 clicking the first control. The terminal device 130 can also fast forward or rewind the video playback progress based on the user 132 long-pressing the first control, etc. However, these are merely exemplary and are not limited thereto. For example, the user 132 can also use voice, gestures, or other triggering methods to send an instruction to the terminal device 130 to adjust the playback progress of the first video. The following description will primarily focus on the user clicking or long-pressing the first control to initiate the adjustment instruction, and will refer to the accompanying drawings to describe how to adjust the playback progress of the first video.

[0051] The following describes how terminal device 130 adjusts the playback progress of a first video based on a first operation (e.g., clicking the left or right button) performed by user 132 on a first control.

[0052] In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 detects a second operation on the right-hand control, it can advance the playback progress of the first video by a third predetermined amount. In some embodiments, in progress control mode, a single fast-forward of the playback progress can be triggered by clicking the control. As shown in example interfaces 200B and 200E of Figures 2B and 2E, in progress control mode, if terminal device 130 detects that the user 132 clicks the right-hand control (e.g., right-click), it can advance the playback of the first video by a third predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount). For example, if terminal device 130 detects that user 132 clicks the right-hand control once, it can advance from position A 224 of the progress bar in Figure 2B to position B 251 in Figure 2E, the difference between these two positions corresponding to the third predetermined amount.

[0053] In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 detects a second operation on the left-hand control, it can rewind the playback progress of the first video by a fourth predetermined amount. In some embodiments, in progress control mode, a single rewind of the playback progress can be triggered by clicking the control. As shown in the example interfaces 200B and 200F of Figures 2B and 2F, in progress control mode, if terminal device 130 detects a control instruction issued by user 132 clicking the left-hand control (e.g., the left button), it can rewind the playback progress of the first video by a fourth predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount). For example, if terminal device 130 detects user 132 clicking the left button once, it can rewind from position A 224 of the progress bar in Figure 2B to position C 261 in Figure 2F, the difference between these two positions corresponding to a third predetermined amount. In some examples, the third and fourth predetermined amounts may be the same or different, and may also be distinct from or not distinct from the first and second predetermined amounts mentioned above.

[0054] In some embodiments, the terminal device 130 may determine a third predetermined amount or a fourth predetermined amount based on the total duration of the first video. In some embodiments, the terminal device 130 may adjust the playback progress of the first video with different fast-forward or rewind amplitudes based on different durations of the first video. In some examples, if the total duration of the first video is longer, the playback progress of the first video can be adjusted with a higher fast-forward or rewind amplitude. For example, if the total duration of the first video is long (e.g., more than 5 minutes), the third predetermined amount or the fourth predetermined amount may be 10 seconds. If the total duration of the first video is short (e.g., less than 10 seconds), the third predetermined amount or the fourth predetermined amount may be 5 seconds. However, this is merely exemplary and is not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure.

[0055] The following description continues with reference to the accompanying drawings. Terminal device 130 adjusts the playback progress of the first video according to the speed adjustment method based on the long press trigger of the first control by user 132 (e.g., long press of the right button or long press of the left button).

[0056] In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 detects a first operation on the right control, it can advance the playback progress of the first video at a first speed. In some embodiments, in progress control mode, the playback progress can be advanced at a faster speed by long-pressing the control. As shown in the example interfaces 200B and 200E of Figures 2B and 2E, in progress control mode, if terminal device 130 detects that the user 132 has long-pressed the right control (e.g., right-clicked), it can advance the playback progress of the first video at a first speed. For example, if terminal device 130 detects that the user 132 has long-pressed the right button, it can fast-forward the playback progress of the first video from position A 224 of the progress bar at a first speed (e.g., 3x speed or any other suitable speed).

[0057] In some embodiments, if terminal device 130 detects a first operation on the left-hand control, it can rewind the playback progress of the first video at a second speed. In some embodiments, in progress control mode, rewinding the playback progress can be triggered by long-pressing the control. As shown in the example interfaces 200B and 200F of Figures 2B and 2F, in progress control mode, if terminal device 130 detects that the user 132 has long-pressed the left-hand control (e.g., left button), it can rewind the first video at a second speed. For example, if terminal device 130 detects that the user 132 has long-pressed the left button, it can fast-forward the playback progress of the first video from position A 224 of the progress bar at a second speed (e.g., 3x speed or any other suitable speed). In some examples, the first speed and the second speed may be the same or different.

[0058] In some embodiments, either the first speed and the second speed can be determined in the following manner. If the terminal device 130 determines that the total duration of the first video exceeds a first duration threshold and is less than a second duration threshold, it can maintain the first speed or the second speed at a first predetermined value during playback progress adjustment. In some examples, if the terminal device 130 determines that the total duration of the first video exceeds the first duration threshold (e.g., 10 seconds, or any other suitable duration) and is less than the second duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes, or any other suitable duration), it can maintain the first speed or the second speed at a first predetermined value (e.g., 3x speed or any other suitable speed) during playback progress adjustment. That is, when the terminal device 130 detects a forward or backward adjustment instruction, it can adjust the playback progress of the first video at 3x speed. In this way, when the total length of the first video is small, in progress control mode, in response to a long press triggering the first control, the playback progress can always be adjusted at a fixed speed.

[0059] In some embodiments, if the total duration of the first video exceeds a second duration threshold, and the terminal device 130 determines that the playback duration of the first video that has been forwarded or rewound is less than a third duration threshold, then the first speed or the second speed can be determined as a second predetermined value. Correspondingly, if the terminal device 130 determines that the playback duration of the first video that has been forwarded or rewound exceeds a third duration threshold, then the first speed or the second speed can be changed to a third predetermined value, wherein the third predetermined value is greater than the second predetermined value. That is, if the total length of the first video is long, in progress control mode, if the user has already adjusted the playback progress for a considerable period (e.g., forwarded or rewound a certain amount of time), then a long press triggering the corresponding adjustment speed can be increased to allow the user to adjust the playback progress more quickly.

[0060] For example, in a scenario where the total duration of the first video exceeds a second duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes, or any other suitable duration), if the terminal device 130 determines that the playback duration of the first video that has been forwarded or rewound (e.g., 3 minutes) is less than a third duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes), it can fast-forward or rewind the playback progress of the first video at a second predetermined speed (e.g., 3x speed). Further, if the terminal device 130 determines that the current playback duration of the first video that has been forwarded or rewound (e.g., 5.5 minutes) exceeds the third duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes), it can increase the speed of the second predetermined value (e.g., 3x speed) to a speed of the third predetermined value (e.g., 6x speed). In some examples, the third predetermined value can be a multiple of the second predetermined value. For example, suppose the total duration of the first video is 15 minutes, exceeding the second duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes), and a long press of the right mouse button is initiated from the 3rd minute until the playback progress reaches the 14th minute. In this case, the playback progress of the first video can be adjusted at a second predetermined speed (e.g., 3x speed) between the 3rd and 8th minutes, and the playback progress of the first video can be adjusted at a third predetermined speed (e.g., 6x speed) between the 8th and 14th minutes.

[0061] Alternatively, in some embodiments, if the total duration of the first video exceeds a second duration threshold, and the terminal device 130 determines that the already played duration of the first video is less than a third duration threshold, then the first or second playback speed can be set to a second predetermined value. Correspondingly, if the terminal device 130 determines that the already played duration of the first video exceeds a third duration threshold, then the first or second playback speed can be changed to a third predetermined value, wherein the third predetermined value is greater than the second predetermined value. That is, if the total length of the first video is long, in progress control mode, if it is determined that the already played duration of the video exceeds a certain length, then a long press triggering the corresponding speed adjustment can be increased, so that the user can adjust the playback progress more quickly.

[0062] In some examples, when the total duration of the first video exceeds a second duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes, or any other suitable duration), if terminal device 130 determines that the duration the first video has been played (e.g., 4 minutes) is less than a third duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes), it can adjust the playback progress of the first video at a second predetermined speed (e.g., 3x speed). Further, if terminal device 130 determines that the current duration the first video has been played (e.g., 5.5 minutes) exceeds a third duration threshold (e.g., 5 minutes), it can change the speed from the second predetermined speed (e.g., 3x speed) to a third predetermined speed (e.g., 6x speed). In some examples, the third predetermined value can be a multiple of the second predetermined value.

[0063] In some embodiments, when the total duration of the first video exceeds a first duration threshold (e.g., 10 seconds), if the terminal device 130 detects a first operation on the first control, it can adjust the playback progress of the first video by a certain speed, and if it detects a second operation on the first control, it can adjust the playback progress of the first video by a predetermined amount. For example, when the total duration of the first video exceeds the first duration threshold (e.g., 10 seconds), if the terminal device 130 detects a long press trigger on the right button, it can fast forward the playback progress of the first video at a first speed. If the terminal device 130 detects a long press trigger on the left button, it can rewind the playback progress of the first video at a second speed. If a click operation on the right or left button is detected, the playback progress of the first video can be advanced or rewound by a predetermined amount. That is, when the total duration of the video is long, long press triggers and click triggers on the left and right buttons can be used to implement different adjustment methods for fast forwarding or rewinding the video.

[0064] Furthermore, in scenarios where the total duration of the first video is less than a first duration threshold (e.g., 10 seconds), if the terminal device 130 detects a first operation and / or a second operation on the first control, it can adjust the playback progress of the first video by a predetermined amount. For example, if the terminal device 130 detects a long press or click trigger on the right button, it can advance the first video by a third predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount). If the terminal device 130 detects a long press or click trigger on the left button, it can rewind the first video by a fourth predetermined amount (e.g., 5 seconds, or any other suitable predetermined amount). In other words, when the total duration of the video is short, in progress control mode, whether the first control is long-pressed or clicked, the playback progress is adjusted by a predetermined amount. This is because when the video length is short, it may not be necessary to perform speed adjustment, as speed adjustment would quickly advance the video to the end or rewind to the beginning.

[0065] In some embodiments, in progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 determines that the remaining playback time of the first video is less than or equal to a predetermined duration threshold, it can stop adjusting the playback progress of the first video. In this case, even if a long press or click trigger is detected in progress control mode, the playback progress will not be adjusted further. In some examples, in progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 determines that the remaining playback time of the first video is less than or equal to a predetermined duration threshold (e.g., 3 seconds or any other suitable duration threshold), it can stop fast-forwarding. That is, for fast-forwarding scenarios, the terminal device 130 can retain the last portion of the video content, so that the user can still have some content to play after stopping the playback progress adjustment.

[0066] In summary, depending on the different durations of the first video, the playback progress can be adjusted with varying degrees of fast forward or rewind to improve the user experience. For example, the longer the total duration of the video, the greater the degree of fast forward or rewind that can be used to adjust the playback progress.

[0067] The following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings, outlines some visual effects during the adjustment of the first video playback progress. In some embodiments, as the first video playback progresses forward or backward, the terminal device 130 may display visual effects associated with forward or backward movement in a first interface element corresponding to the first video. In some embodiments, the first interface element is configured to indicate playback and pause of the first video.

[0068] In some examples, when the terminal device 130 adjusts the playback progress of the first video to advance at a first speed, or when adjusting the playback progress of the first video to rewind at a first speed, it can present the first interface element with a visual effect associated with advancing or rewinding. As shown in the example interface 200B of Figure 2B, when the terminal device 130 adjusts the playback progress of the first video to advance at a first speed, it can present the first interface element in the form of visual effect 225. The terminal device 130 can also present the first interface element in interface 226 in association with the first video and in the form of visual effect 225. In some examples, visual effect 225 can be presented as a dynamic visual effect, such as visual effect 225 being looped. A schematic diagram 200G illustrating the visual effects of the interface elements of this disclosure is shown with reference to Figure 2G. As shown in Figure 2GA in Figure 2G, if the terminal device 130 starts fast-forwarding the playback progress of the first video at 3x speed at time XX, then the first interface element 271 can be looped at time XX in the form of visual effect 225.

[0069] As shown in the example interface 200F of Figure 2F, during the process of rewinding the playback progress of the first video at second speed, the terminal device 130 plays the first interface element in the form of visual effect 262. The terminal device 130 can also present the first interface element in interface 226 in association with the first video and in the form of visual effect 262. In some examples, visual effect 262 can be presented as a dynamic visual effect, such as visual effect 262 being looped. As shown in the example visual effect 200GB of Figure 2GB in Figure 2G, if the terminal device 130 starts rewinding the playback progress of the first video at 3x speed at time XX, the first interface element 271 can be looped in the form of visual effect 262 at time XX.

[0070] In some embodiments, terminal device 130 can display a thumbnail of the first video at the adjusted playback progress during the process of adjusting the playback progress of the first video. Terminal device 130 can also display a thumbnail of the first video at the playback progress in association with the playback progress of the progress bar during the process of adjusting the playback progress of the first video. As shown in example interfaces 200B and 200E of Figures 2B and 2E, terminal device 130 displays thumbnails 227, 252, etc., in association with the playback progress of the first video when fast-forwarding at a different speed. This allows user 132 to easily refer to the current fast-forward position. As shown in example interfaces 200B and 200F of Figures 2B and 2F, terminal device 130 displays thumbnails 227, 263, etc., in association with the playback progress of the progress bar during the process of fast-forwarding at a different speed, allowing user 132 to easily refer to the current rewind position.

[0071] Therefore, by long-pressing the first control to enter the progress control mode, the playback progress of media content can be adjusted without affecting the basic functions of the directional controls. The following section, referring to the accompanying diagram, describes how to exit the progress control mode.

[0072] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 detects a confirmation instruction in progress control mode, it can play the first video from its current playback progress. As shown in example interfaces 200E and 200H of Figures 2E and 2H, in progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 detects a confirmation instruction at position B 251 of the progress bar 220 (e.g., user 132 clicks the "OK" button), it can continue playing the subsequent content 281 of the first video from position B 251. As shown in example interfaces 200E and 2001 of Figures 2E and 21, in progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 detects a confirmation instruction at position C 251 of the progress bar 220, it can continue playing the subsequent content 291 of the first video from position C 251. That is, user 132 can click the "OK" button to exit progress control mode. At this time, the terminal device 130 can also de-present the progress bar 220.

[0073] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 130 detects a cancellation indication in progress control mode, it plays the first video from the playback progress of the first video before the progress control mode was triggered. In some examples, if the terminal device 130 detects a cancellation indication in progress control mode, it can play the first video from the original playback progress of the progress bar. The original playback progress indicates the playback progress of the first video before the progress control mode was triggered. In some embodiments, the cancellation indication in progress control mode is triggered by a second operation on a second control. The second control may be different from the first control. In some examples, the second control includes an up control (i.e., the up button) or a down control (i.e., the down button). Of course, the control for canceling playback progress adjustment may also include any other suitable control. Referring to the example interfaces 200E and 200A shown in Figures 2E and 2A, in progress control mode, if the terminal device 130 detects a trigger for a second control (e.g., the up button, down button, back button, etc. included in the attached device 110) at position B 251 of the progress bar 220, it can continue playing the subsequent content 212 of the first video from position A 224.

[0074] Understandably, position A 224 of the progress bar 220 is the starting position where user 132 long-presses the first control (e.g., the left or right button). In some embodiments, in progress control mode, if terminal device 130 detects a trigger for the second control (e.g., the up button, down button, back button, etc. included in the attached device 110) at position B 251 of the progress bar 220, it can also continue playing the first video from the starting position. That is, terminal device 130 can exit progress control mode, at which point terminal device 130 can cancel the presentation of the progress bar 220.

[0075] In some embodiments, in a non-progression control mode for the first video, the second control can be used to switch videos. That is, in a non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 detects a second operation on the second control, it can switch from the first screen of the first video to the second screen of the second video. In some examples, in a non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 detects a click on the up button, it can switch from the current video (i.e., the first video) to the previous video. Correspondingly, in a non-progression control mode for the first video, if the terminal device 130 detects a click on the down button, it can switch from the current video (i.e., the first video) to the next video.

[0076] In summary, by triggering the progress control mode through long-term contact with the first control, the playback progress can be adjusted without affecting the basic functions of the directional controls, thereby improving the user experience. Furthermore, entering the progress control mode allows the user to focus on adjusting the playback progress.
