Description

SMART GLASSES DEVICETECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a smart glasses device.BACKGROUND

[0002] With the advancement of smart glasses technology, users are increasingly focused on the overall user experience. However, charging a smart glasses device often presents inconveniences. In most smart glasses devices, electronic devices, such as speakers, are typically housed in both temples of the smart glasses device, requiring power for each temple of the smart glasses device. Usually, a battery is installed in each temple to power these electronic devices. This configuration, however, often requires either two separate charging ports, one for each temple of the smart glasses device, or a large charging dock that charges both temples simultaneously. The need for two charging ports or the inconvenience of carrying a bulky charging dock detracts from the overall charging experience, reducing user convenience.

[0003] Some attempts have been made to solve this issue by using a cable that runs through the glasses body to electrically connect the two temples. However, these methods come with their own problems. For example, the structure becomes overly complex, increasing manufacturing difficulty. Moreover, such designs limit the design flexibility of the smart glasses device, preventing the use of transparent or thinner frames, which are often desired for a sleek, modern aesthetic.

[0004] Therefore, there is a clear need for a charging solution that simplifies the charging process, eliminates the need for two charging ports or a bulky charging dock, and offers greater design flexibility.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0005] The present disclosure is intended to overcome at least some of the aforementioned problems in the prior art.

[0006] According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a smart glasses device is provided. The smart glasses device comprises: a glasses body; a first glasses temple pivotably connected to the glasses body and comprising a first battery contained therein and a first electrical connection part electrically connected to the first battery; and a second glasses temple pivotably connected to the glasses body and comprising a second battery contained therein and a second electrical connection part electrically connected to the second battery, wherein each of the first and second glasses temples is pivotable or rotatable relative to the glasses body via its hinge, allowing movement of the smart glasses device between an extended position and a folded position, in the extended position, the first and second glasses temples extend away from the glasses body, in the folded position, the first and second glasses temples are folded close to the glasses body and adjacent to each other; wherein in the folded position, the first electrical connection part of the first glasses temple is in contact with and electrically connected to the second electrical connection part of the second glasses temple.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0014] Hereinafter, various embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0015] As used herein, the singular forms “a” , “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. The terms “comprise” , “comprising” , “includes” and / or “including” , as used herein, specify the presence of stated features, integers, steps, operations, elements, and / or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, operations, elements, components, and / or combinations thereof. As used herein, the term “and / or” and the symbol “ / ” are meant to include any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items. Additionally, while the terms first, second, etc. may be used herein to describe various elements, components, steps or calculations, these elements, components, steps, or calculations should not be limited by these terms, rather, these terms are only used to distinguish one element, component, step or calculation from another. For example, a first component may be referred to as a second component, similarly a first calculation may be referred to as a second calculation; likewise, a first step may be referred to as a second step, all without departing from the scope of this disclosure.

[0016] To clarify the use in the pending claims and to hereby provide notice to the public, the phrases “at least one of , , ... and <N>” or “at least one of , , ... <N>, or combinations thereof” are defined by the Applicant in the broadest sense, superseding any other implied definitions herebefore or hereinafter unless expressly asserted by the Applicant to the contrary, to mean one or more elements selected from the group comprising A, B, ... and N, that is to say, any combination of one or more of the elements A, B, ... or N including any one element alone or in combination with one or more of the other elements which may also include, in combination, additional elements not listed.

[0017] The present disclosure provides a smart glasses device, comprising: a glasses body; a first glasses temple comprising a first battery and a first electrical connection part electrically connected to the first battery; and a second glasses temple comprising a second battery contained therein and a second electrical connection part electrically connected to the second battery, wherein in a folded position of the smart glasses device, the first electrical connection part of the first glasses temple is in contact with and electrically connected to the second electrical connection part of the second glasses temple.

[0018] That is, in the folded position, the battery in the first glasses temple and the battery in the second glasses temple are electrically connected to each other through the electrical connection parts. Therefore, to charge the smart glasses device, the user only needs to fold the device into its folded position. Then, a single charging port can be used to simultaneously charge both the battery in the first glasses temple and the battery in the second glasses temple. This configuration significantly simplifies the charging device and / or charging operation of the smart glasses device.

[0019] In one or more embodiments, the first electrical connection part comprises a magnetic coupling part and at least one electrical connection terminal, the second electrical connection part comprises a magnetic coupling part and at least one electrical connection terminal, in the folded position, the magnetic coupling parts of the first and second electrical connection parts are connected to each other by magnetic attraction, thereby ensuring a secure electrical connection between the at least one electrical connection terminal of the first electrical connection part and the at least one electrical connection terminal of the second electrical connection part.

[0020] Due to the magnetic attraction between the magnetic coupling parts of the first and second electrical connection parts, once the smart glasses device is substantially folded into its folded position, the magnetic attraction automatically pulls the electrical connection parts into contact with each other and aligns them, ensuring a precise and reliable connection between the corresponding electrical connection terminals.

[0021] In one or more embodiments, the first electrical connection part is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the first glasses temple, the second electrical connection part is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the second glasses temple.

[0022] Since each of the electrical connection parts is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the glasses temples, the magnetic attraction and / or an electrical connection can be established between the electrical connection parts, regardless of their relative position, thereby ensuring a reliable connection.

[0023] Figs. 1A-1B illustrate schematic diagrams of a smart glasses device 100 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, wherein Fig. 1A shows the smart glasses device 100 in its extended position and Fig. 1B shows the smart glasses device 100 in its folded position.

[0024] The smart glasses device 100 comprises a glasses body 110 and first and second glasses temples 120, 150 each pivotably connected to the glasses body 110 via a hinge (not shown) . The glasses body 110 comprises two frame portions 112, 114 each configured to retain a lens, and a bridge portion 116 connecting the two frame portions 112, 114 together. Each of the first and second glasses temples 120, 150 houses electronic components. Specifically, the first glasses temple 120 comprises a processing unit 122, a speaker 124, and a battery 126. Similarly, the second glasses temple 150 comprises a processing unit 152, a speaker 154, and a battery 156. The smart glasses device 100 shown in Figs. 1A-1B is merely exemplary and not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure. According to one or more other embodiments of the present disclosure, the smart glasses device may have any suitable structure, and the glasses temples may house any suitable electronic components therein.

[0025] Each of the first and second glasses temples 120, 150 is pivotable or rotatable relative to the glasses body 110 about its hinge (not shown) , allowing the smart glasses device 100 to move between an extended position (see Fig. 1A) and a folded position (see Fig. 1B) . In the extended position shown in Fig. 1A, the first and second glasses temples 120, 150 extend outward or away from the glasses body 110, spaced apart from each other, and are substantially parallel to each other. In the folded position shown in Fig. 1B, the first and second glasses temples are folded against the glasses body and are positioned adjacent to each other.

[0026] The first glasses temple 120 further comprises an electrical connection part 130, which is electrically connected to the battery 126 housed in the glasses temple 120. The second glasses temple 150 further comprises an electrical connection part 160, which is electrically connected to the battery 156 housed in the second glasses temple 150. As shown in Fig. 1B, in the folded position of the smart glasses device 100, the electrical connection part 130 of the first glasses temple 120 is in contact with and electrically connected to the electrical connection part 160 of the second glasses temple 150.

[0027] That is, in the folded position shown in Fig. 1B, the battery 126 of the first glasses temple 120 and the battery 156 of the second glasses temple 150 are electrically connected to each other through the electrical connection parts 130 and 160. Therefore, to charge the smart glasses device 100, the user only needs to fold the device 100 into its folded position. Then, a single charging port (not shown) can be used to simultaneously charge both the battery 126 in the first glasses temple 120 and the battery 156 in the second glasses temple 150. As compared to the prior art, this configuration significantly simplifies the charging device and / or charging operation of the smart glasses device 100.

[0028] Fig. 2 is an enlarged schematic view of the first glasses temple 120 and the second glasses temple 150 in the folded position, showing an exemplary configuration of the electrical connection parts 130 and 160. As shown, the electrical connection part 130 comprises a first electrical connection terminal 132 and a second electrical connection terminal 134. Similarly, the electrical connection part 160 comprises a first electrical connection terminal 162 and a second electrical connection terminal 164. The first electrical connection terminal 132 and the second electrical connection terminal 134 of the electrical connection part 130 are positioned correspondingly to the first electrical connection terminal 162 and the second electrical connection terminal 164 of the electrical connection part 160, respectively. In the folded position of the smart glasses device 100, the first electrical connection terminal 132 and the second electrical connection terminal 134 of the electrical connection part 130 are in contact with and electrically connected to the first electrical connection terminal 162 and the second electrical connection terminal 164 of the electrical connection part 160, respectively.

[0029] The electrical connection part 130 further comprises a magnetic coupling part 136. Similarly, the electrical connection part 160 comprises a magnetic coupling part 166. The magnetic coupling part 136 and the magnetic coupling part 166 are correspondingly positioned, such that in the folded position of the smart glasses device 100, the magnetic coupling part 136 and the magnetic coupling part 166 magnetically attract each other, securely connecting the electrical connection parts 130 and 160 together, thereby securely connecting the electrical connection terminals 132, 134 of the electrical connection part 130 and the electrical connection terminals 162, 164 of the electrical connection part 160 together.

[0030] Due to the magnetic attraction between the magnetic coupling part 136 of the first glasses temple 120 and the magnetic coupling part 166 of the second glasses temple 150, once the smart glasses device 100 is substantially folded into its folded position, the magnetic attraction between the magnetic coupling parts 136 and 166 automatically pulls the electrical connection parts 130 and 160 into contact with each other and aligns them, ensuring a precise and reliable connection between the corresponding electrical connection terminals. This configuration allows the user to achieve a reliable electrical connection between the electrical connection terminals of the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150 simply by folding the smart glasses device 100 into its folded position. As a result, a single charging port can be used to simultaneously charge the batteries 126 and 156 in both the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150, providing a simple and reliable charging operation without the need for a complicated or bulky charging device.

[0031] Fig. 2 illustrates an enlarged view of the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150, showing an exemplary configuration of the electrical connection parts 130 and 160 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. However, the present disclosure is not limited thereto. In one or more other embodiments, the electrical connection part 130 (including the first and second electrical connection terminals 132, 134, and the magnetic coupling part 136) and the electrical connection part 160 (including the first and second electrical connection terminals 162, 164, and the magnetic coupling part 166) may have a structure or arrangement different from that shown in Fig. 2. In one or more embodiments, the magnetic coupling parts may be omitted. In one or more embodiments, the electrical connection parts 130 and 160 may include a different number of electrical connection terminals, such as one, three, or more electrical connection terminals. In one or more embodiments, the electrical connection terminals, and the magnetic coupling part may have an arrangement or layout different from that shown in Fig. 2. Additionally, the first and second electrical connection terminals 132, 134, and the magnetic coupling part 136 of the electrical connection part 130 may be flush with the surface of the first glasses temple 120 rather than protruding from it. Similarly, the first and second electrical connection terminals 162, 164, and the magnetic coupling part 166 of the electrical connection part 160 may be flush with the surface of the second glasses temple 150 rather than protruding from it. This provides a more aesthetically pleasing appearance. In one or more embodiments, the first and second electrical connection terminals 132, 134, and the magnetic coupling part 136 of the electrical connection part 130 may slightly protrude from the surface of the first glasses temple 120. Similarly, the first and second electrical connection terminals 162, 164, and the magnetic coupling part 166 of the electrical connection part 160 may slightly protrude from the surface of the second glasses temple 150. This slight protrusion can help provide a comfortable touch while enhancing the overall aesthetic appearance. Moreover, the slight protrusion ensures secure engagement between the electrical connection parts 130 and 160 in the folded position of the smart glasses device 100, thereby improving the reliability and stability of the electrical connection.

[0032] Figs. 3A-3E illustrate cross-sectional views of the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150 taken along line A-A in Fig. 1B, showing exemplary configurations and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 130 and 160.

[0033] Figs. 3A-3B show one arrangement of the electrical connection parts 130 and 160. In this arrangement, one of the electrical connection part 130 and the electrical connection part 160 is disposed on an inner surface of one of the first or second glasses temples 120, 150, and the other of the electrical connection part 130 and the electrical connection part 160 is disposed on an outer surface of the other of the first or second glasses temples 120, 150. In the folded position of the smart glasses device 100, the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150 are positioned side by side and adjacent to each other, such that the electrical connection part 130 is in contact with and electrically connected to the electrical connection part 160, as shown in Figs. 3A-3B. Fig. 3A shows an engagement position where the electrical connection part 130 of the first glasses temple 120 and the electrical connection part 160 of the second glasses temple 150 are fully aligned with each other, whereas Fig. 3B shows an engagement position where the electrical connection part 130 of the first glasses temple 120 and the electrical connection part 160 of the second glasses temple 150 are (slightly) offset from each other. As used herein, the term “inner” refers to the position, portion, or orientation that is closer to the glasses body in the folded position, and the term “outer” refers to the position, portion, or orientation that is farther or away from the glasses body in the folded position.

[0034] Figs. 3C-3D show another arrangement of the electrical connection parts 130 and 160. In this arrangement, the electrical connection part 130 and the electrical connection part 160 are respectively disposed on upper and lower surfaces of the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150. In the folded position of the smart glasses device 100, the first and second glasses temples 120 and 150 are arranged in a vertically overlapping relationship and adjacent to each other, such that the electrical connection part 130 is in contact with and electrically connected to the electrical connection part 160, as shown in Figs. 3C-3D. Fig. 3C shows an engagement position where the electrical connection part 130 of the first glasses temple 120 and the electrical connection part 160 of the second glasses temple 150 are fully aligned with each other, whereas Fig. 3D shows an engagement position where the electrical connection part 130 of the first glasses temple 120 and the electrical connection part 160 of the second glasses temple 150 are slightly offset from each other. Fig. 3E illustrates yet another arrangement of the electrical connection parts 130 and 160.

[0035] Figs. 4A-4B illustrate schematic diagrams of a smart glasses device 200 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, wherein Fig. 4A shows the smart glasses device 200 in its extended position and Fig. 4B shows the smart glasses device 200 in its folded position.

[0036] The smart glasses device 200 comprises a glasses body 210 and first and second glasses temples 220, 250. Each of the first and second glasses temples 220, 250 is pivotable or rotatable relative to the glasses body 210 about its hinge (not shown) , allowing the smart glasses device 200 to move between an extended position (see Fig. 4A) and a folded position (see Fig. 4B) . In the extended position shown in Fig. 4A, the first and second glasses temples 220, 250 extend outward or away from the glasses body, are spaced apart from each other, and are substantially parallel to each other. In the folded position shown in Fig. 4B, the first and second glasses temples 220, 250 are folded against the glasses body 210 and are positioned adjacent to each other.

[0037] The structures and operations of the glasses body 210, the first glasses temple 220, and the second glasses temple 250 of the smart glasses device 200 shown in Figs. 4A-4B are similar or identical to the structures and operations of the glasses body 110, the first glasses temple 120, and the second glasses temple 150 of the smart glasses device 100 shown in Figs. 1A-1B. Therefore, the descriptions of the glasses body 110, the first glasses temple 120, and the second glasses temple 150 provided above may be equally applicable to the glasses body 210, the first glasses temple 220, and the second glasses temple 250 of the smart glasses device 200. Accordingly, for the sake of clarity and brevity, detailed descriptions of the glasses body 210, the first glasses temple 220, and the second glasses temple 250 may be omitted here.

[0038] The first glasses temple 220 further comprises an electrical connection part 230, which is electrically connected to the battery (not shown) housed in the glasses temple 220. The second glasses temple 250 further comprises an electrical connection part 260, which is electrically connected to the battery (not shown) housed in the second glasses temple 250. As shown in Fig. 4B, in the folded position of the smart glasses device 200, the electrical connection part 230 of the first glasses temple 220 is in contact with and electrically connected to the electrical connection part 260 of the second glasses temple 250. Thus, in the folded position shown in Fig. 4B, the battery of the first glasses temple 220 and the battery 256 of the second glasses temple 250 are electrically connected to each other via the electrical connection parts 230 and 260.

[0039] Similar to the electrical connection parts 130 and 160 shown in Figs. 1A-1B, Fig. 2, the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 shown in Figs. 4A-4B also each comprises a magnetic coupling part and two electrical connection terminals. Specifically, the electrical connection part 230 comprises electrical connection terminals 232 and 234, as well as a magnetic coupling part 236. The electrical connection part 260 comprises electrical connection terminals 262 and 264, as well as a magnetic coupling part 266.

[0040] The main difference between the smart glasses device 200 shown in Figs. 4A-4B and the smart glasses device 100 shown in Figs. 1A-1B is that each of the electrical connection terminals 232 and 234 and the magnetic coupling part 236 of the electrical connection part 230 is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the first glasses temple 220. Likewise, each of the electrical connection terminals 262 and 264 and the magnetic coupling part 266 of the electrical connection part 260 is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the second glasses temple 250.

[0041] Since each of the electrical connection terminals 232 and 234 and the magnetic coupling part 236 of the electrical connection part 230 is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the first glasses temple 220, and each of the electrical connection terminals 262 and 264 and the magnetic coupling part 266 of the electrical connection part 260 is of an annular shape extending around the circumference of the second glasses temple 250, the magnetic attraction between the magnetic coupling part 236 and the magnetic coupling part 266 is established as long as the first glasses temple 220 and the second glasses temple 250 are close in the folded position of the smart glasses device, regardless of their relative position, thereby ensuring a reliable connection. Specifically, the magnetic attraction between the magnetic coupling part 236 and the magnetic coupling part 266 can occur no matter whether the first glasses temple 220 and the second glasses temple 250 are positioned in a horizontal side-by-side relationship or a vertically overlapping relationship.

[0042] Therefore, by configuring the electrical connection terminals 232, 234 and the magnetic coupling part 236 of the electrical connection part 230, as well as the electrical connection terminals 262, 264 and the magnetic coupling part 266 of the electrical connection part 260, into an annular shape, a reliable electrical connection between the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 can be automatically established as long as the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250 are sufficiently close to each other in the folded position of the smart glasses device 200, regardless of their relative positions. As a result, this configuration of the smart glasses device 200 enables a simpler and more reliable charging process, allowing a single charging port to be used to simultaneously charge the batteries housed in both the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250.

[0043] Figs. 5A-5E illustrate cross-sectional views of the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250, showing exemplary configurations and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 230 and 260.

[0044] Fig. 5A shows the positions and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 where the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250 are in a vertically stacked relationship. Fig. 5B illustrates the positions and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 where the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250 are in a vertically stacked relationship but with an offset between them. Fig. 5C shows the positions and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 where the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250 are in a horizontal side-by-side relationship. Fig. 5D illustrates the positions and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 where the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250 are in a horizontal side-by-side relationship but with an offset between them. Fig. 5E shows the positions and engagement forms of the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 where the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250 are in a diagonal relationship.

[0045] As shown, a reliable electrical connection between the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 can be established regardless of the positional relationship between the first and second glasses temples 220 and 250. It should be noted that the positions and engagement relationships between the electrical connection parts 230 and 260 shown in Figs. 5A-5E may refer to the positions and engagement relationships between the electrical connection terminals 232, 234 and the magnetic coupling part 236 of the electrical connection part 230 and the electrical connection terminals 262, 264 and the magnetic coupling part 266 of the electrical connection part 260.

[0046] Figs. 6A-6B illustrate schematic diagrams of a smart glasses device 300 according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, wherein Fig. 6A shows the smart glasses device 300 in its extended position and Fig. 6B shows the smart glasses device 300 in its folded position.

[0047] The smart glasses device 300 comprises a glasses body 310 and first and second glasses temples 320, 350. Each of the first and second glasses temples 320, 350 is pivotable or rotatable relative to the glasses body 310 about its hinge (not shown) , allowing the smart glasses device 300 to move between an extended position and a folded position.

[0048] The first glasses temple 320 further comprises an electrical connection part 330, which is electrically connected to a battery (not shown) housed in the glasses temple 320. The second glasses temple 350 further comprises an electrical connection part 360, which is electrically connected to a battery (not shown) housed in the second glasses temple 350. As shown in Fig. 6B, in the folded position of the smart glasses device 300, the electrical connection part 330 of the first glasses temple 320 is in contact with and electrically connected to the electrical connection part 360 of the second glasses temple 350. That is, in the folded position shown in Fig. 6B, the battery of the first glasses temple 320 and the battery 356 of the second glasses temple 350 are electrically connected to each other via the electrical connection parts 330 and 360.

[0049] The structures and operations of the glasses body 310, the first glasses temple 320, and the second glasses temple 350 of the smart glasses device 300 shown in Figs. 6A-6B are similar or identical to the structures and operations of the glasses body 210, the first glasses temple 220, and the second glasses temple 250 of the smart glasses device 200 shown in Figs. 4A-4B. Therefore, the descriptions of the glasses body 210, the first glasses temple 220, and the second glasses temple 250 provided above may be equally applicable to the glasses body 310, the first glasses temple 320, and the second glasses temple 350 of the smart glasses device 300. Accordingly, for the sake of clarity and brevity, detailed descriptions of the glasses body 310, the first glasses temple 320, and the second glasses temple 350 may be omitted here.

[0050] The main difference between the smart glasses device 300 shown in Figs. 6A-6B and the smart glasses device 200 shown in Figs. 4A-4B is that the first glasses temple 320 and the second glasses temple 350 of the smart glasses device 300 have a curved or bent portion in the dashed line circles shown in Figs. 6A and 6B. In one or more embodiments, the electrical connection part 330 is provided on the curved or bent portion of the first glasses temple 320 and the electrical connection part 360 is provided on the curved or bent portion of the first glasses temple 350. This curved or bent design enhances the overall aesthetic appeal and design complexity of the smart glasses device 300.
