Description

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR COMMUNICATIONFIELDS

[0001] Example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of communication techniques and in particular, to devices and methods for communication.BACKGROUND

[0002] As communication networks and services increase in size, complexity, and number of users, operations in the communication networks may become increasingly more complicated. In order to improve communication performance, machine learning (ML)  / artificial intelligence (AI) technology is proposed to be used in the wireless communication network, such as beam prediction, channel state information (CSI) prediction, CSI compression and so on. Current beam prediction and CSI prediction are separately considered. For CSI prediction, it does not consider the impact of beamforming. When the frequency is higher, beamforming is inevitable to compensate for the pathloss, and thus the predicted CSI may not be valid if the applied beamforming is to be changed.SUMMARY

[0052] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures. Example Environment

[0053] FIG. 1A illustrates a schematic diagram of an example communication environment 100A in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication devices, including a device 110-1 and a device 110-2, can communicate with each other. For purposes of discussion, the device 110-1 and device 110-2 are collectively or individually referred to as device 110.

[0054] Further, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) is supported in the communication environment 100A, such that the device 110-1 and device 110-2 may communicate with each other via different beams to enable directional communication.

[0055] In FIG. 1A, the device 110-1 / device 110-2 may be included a terminal device, a network device, an over the top (OTT) (server) , an operation administration and maintenance (OAM) (server) , an edge cloud (server) , a neutral site, core network, transmission reception point (TRP) and so on.

[0056] As one example scenario, the one of the device 110-1 and device 110-2 may include a terminal device, and the other one of the device 110-1 and device 110-2 may include a network device serving the terminal device. A direction from the terminal device to the network device is referred to as uplink, while a direction from the network device to the terminal device is referred to as a downlink.

[0057] In some embodiments, one or more models may be deployed at the device 110-1 and / or the device 110-2. As illustrated in FIG. 1A, the model (s) 115 may be deployed at the device 110-1 and / or the model (s) 116 may be deployed at the device 110-2.

[0058] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1A are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100A may include any suitable number of devices configured to implement example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0059] In some embodiments, the device 110-1 and device 110-2 may communicate with each other via a channel such as a wireless communication channel on an air interface (e.g., Uu interface) or a PC5 interface. The wireless communication channel may comprise a sidelink, a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) , a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , a physical random-access channel (PRACH) , a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH) . Of course, any other suitable channels are also feasible.

[0060] The communications in the communication environment 100A may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0061] Further, the model (s) 115 and model (s) 116 may support such as, beam prediction and / or CSI prediction.

[0062] FIG. 1B provides an example for the inference procedure for CSI prediction. For generating the input of CSI prediction model, it may need some further pre-processing on the measured channel; for the output of the CSI prediction model, some further post-processing may also be applied.

[0063] FIG. 1C provides an example for the inference procedure for beam management for BM-Case1 and BM-Case2. Measurements based on Set B of beams are used as model input. In addition, beam ID information may be also provided as input to the AI / ML model. Based on model output (e.g., probability of each beam in Set A to be the Top-1 beam, predicted L1-RSRPs) , Top-1 / N beam (s) among Set A of beams can be predicted and / or potentially with predicted L1-RSRPs (depending on the labeling) . In the evaluation, for BM-Case 1, the measurements of Set B (otherwise stated) are used as model input to predict Top-1 / N beams from Set A, and for BM-Case2, the measurements from historic time instance (s) are used as model input for temporal DL beam prediction of beams from Set A. In the evaluation, the cases that Set A and Set B are different (Set B is NOT a subset of Set A) , and Set B is a subset of Set A for both BM-Case1 and BM-Case2, and case that Set A and Set B are the same for BM-Case2 are considered. And the performance of DL Tx beam prediction and DL Tx-Rx beam pair prediction is evaluated.

[0064] For both BM-Case1 and BM-Case2, UE can report the prediction result to NW based on the output of a UE-sided model, or NW can predict the Top-1 / N beam (s) based on the reported measurements of Set B for a NW-side model.

[0065] It has provided agreements for the report content of inference results for UE-sided models. Specifically, the largest RSRP value is quantized to a 7-bit value in the range [-140, -44] dBm with a 1 dB step size, and the differential RSRP is quantized to a 4-bit value with a 2 dB step size. In some other embodiments, the model output is UE implementation and does not have to be RSRP subject to dBm value.

[0066] In some embodiments, for BM-Case 1, the RSRP of the predicted beam (s) in the report of inference results is the predicted RSRP, where the predicted RSRP is based on AI / ML output.

[0067] In some embodiments, for UE-sided AI / ML model inference and BM-Case2, for the quantization of an RSRP value of inference results in a report over multiple future time instance, the largest RSRP value based on prediction of all time instances may be the reference RSRP, and differential RSRPs in the report may be computed relative to the reference RSRP. In some other embodiments, the time instance information of the beam with the largest RSRP is additionally indicated in the report.

[0068] In some embodiments, for inference, for BM-Case 2 of UE-sided model, the time gap between two consecutive future time instances is configured by RRC, and the number of future time instance (s) N may be configured by RRC. In some embodiments, the time gap is [10ms, 20ms, 40ms, 80ms, 160ms] and N = [1, 2, 4, 8] . In some embodiments, the reference time of the earliest time instance for the predicted results is based on the most recent occasion of the CSI-RS / SSB resource in Set B for measurement. In some other embodiments, the most recent occasion of the CSI-RS / SSB resource of Set B is the latest CSI-RS / SSB occasion no later than the corresponding CSI reference resource of the corresponding inference report.

[0069] In some embodiments, for configuring the resource for data collection purposes, CSI-ReportConfig may be used for configuring the resources for data collection without CSI report. In some other embodiments, one CSI-ResourceConfigId is configured for Set A and one CSI-ResourceConfigId is configured for Set B.

[0070] In some embodiments, one or two associated IDs may be configured in CSI-ReportConfig. In one example, when Set B is equal or a subset of Set A (i.e., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceId / SSB-Index in the resource set for Set B is within the NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceId / SSB-Index in the resource set for Set A) , one associated ID may be configured. Otherwise, one associated ID may be configured for Set A and another one for Set B.

[0071] In some embodiments, for UE-sided models, in CSI-ReportConfig for inference, one or two associated IDs may be configured in CSI-ReportConfig. In one example, when Set B is equal or a subset of Set A (i.e., NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceId / SSB-Index in the resource set for Set B is within the NZP-CSI-RS-ResourceId / SSB-Index in the resource set for Set A) , one associated ID is configured. Otherwise, one associated ID is configured for Set A and another one for Set B.

[0072] In some embodiments, for CSI prediction using UE-sided models, at least for inference, existing CSI framework is reused. In some other embodiments, for CSI-RS resource type for CMR, periodic, semi-persistent, and aperiodic CSI-RS are supported.

[0073] In some other embodiments, for CSI prediction using UE-sided models, if performance monitoring type 1 or 3 is supported, for calculation of monitoring metric, support, based on intermediate key performance indicator (KPI) , down select between squared generalized cosine similarity (SGCS) and normalized mean squared error (NMSE) .

[0074] In some embodiments, for CSI prediction using UE-sided models, for CSI processing criteria and timeline, at least for inference, further study is needed on: whether the CPU should be shared or separately counted between legacy CSI reporting and AI / ML-based CSI reporting; whether the Processing Unit should be shared or separately counted among AI / ML related features / functionalities; whether new timeline is needed / updated for inference, and whether a different timeline is needed when functionality switches / activates; whether legacy framework for active CSI-RS resource and port counting can be reused.

[0075] In some embodiments, for CSI prediction using UE-sided model, for data collection for training, for resource configuration, for CSI-RS resource type for CMR, periodic and semi-persistent are supported. Example Process

[0076] In order to improve communication performance, AI / ML technology is proposed to be used in the wireless communication network, such as beam prediction, CSI prediction, CSI compression and so on. Current beam prediction and CSI prediction are separately considered. For CSI prediction, it does not consider the impact of beamforming. When the frequency is higher, beamforming is inevitable to compensate for the pathloss, and thus the predicted CSI may not be valid if the applied beamforming is to be changed.

[0077] According to the present disclosure, whether to activate the CSI prediction related processes may be determined based on the results of the beam prediction. Example embodiments will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1A, such as, by using the device 110-1 and the device 110-2.

[0078] It should be noted that below example embodiments may be performed by the device 110, i.e., the device 110-1 or the device 110-2. Further, for ease of discussion, if one of the device 110-1 and the device 110-2 is called as the first device, the other one of the device 110-1 and the device 110-2 is called as the second device. In some embodiments, the first device may comprise one of the following: a terminal device or a network device, and the second device may comprise one of the following: a terminal device or a network device.

[0079] In below example embodiments, beam prediction and CSI prediction may be performed, where the CSI prediction may be associated with the beam prediction, for example, the CSI information related to one or more predicted beams may be predicted by using AI / ML model.

[0080] In some embodiments, the CSI prediction may be performed by a first ML functionality / model, and the beam prediction may be performed by a second ML functionality / model which is the same as or different from the first ML functionality / model. In some embodiments, the first ML functionality / model may be deployed at the first device or a second device different from the first device, and / or the second ML functionality / model may be deployed at the first device or a second device different from the first device.

[0081] For better understanding, the device 110-1 may be a terminal device and the device 110-2 may be a network device. In one example, the beam prediction and CSI prediction may be performed by two separate ML models or a same model deployed at the device 110-1 (i.e., the terminal device) . In another example, the beam prediction and CSI prediction may be performed by two separate ML models or a same model deployed at the device 110-2 (i.e., the network device) . In a further example, the beam prediction may be performed by a model deployed at the device 110-1 (i.e., the terminal device) and the CSI prediction may be performed by a further model deployed at the device 110-2 (i.e., the network device) . In a further example, the beam prediction may be performed by a model deployed at the device 110-2 (i.e., the network device) and the CSI prediction may be performed by a further model deployed at the device 110-1 (i.e., the terminal device) .

[0082] Details about the operation at the first device 110 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 2, which illustrates a flowchart 200 of a communication method implemented at a first device in according to some example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0083] In operation, at block 210, the first device may determine whether a first condition is met, where the first condition is determined to be met if a first duration, within which a predicted beam remains / stays unchanged, is longer than or equal to a threshold time length (also may be called as the threshold value) .

[0084] In some embodiments, the first duration may be associated with at least one future time instance corresponding to at least one beam prediction result, and each beam prediction result may comprise a top-1 predicted beam. In this case, a predicted beam may be determined to remain unchanged in the first duration if the predicted beam is the top-1 predicted beams of each of the at least one beam prediction result.

[0085] Alternatively, in some embodiments, each beam prediction result may comprise top-K predicted beams (where K is larger than one) . In this case, a predicted beam may be determined to remain unchanged in the first duration if the predicted beam is comprised in the top-K predicted beams of each of the at least one beam prediction result.

[0086] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the first duration may be pre-defined as a default value, such as, stipulated by the wireless standards, the service provider, or the network operator. In some other embodiments, the first duration may be determined by the first device or a second device different from the first device. For example, if the first device is a terminal device, the first device may report the first duration to the network device or receive the first duration from the network device. If the first device is a network device, the first device may receive the first duration reported by the terminal device, or may configure the first duration to the terminal device.

[0087] In some embodiments, the first duration may be associated with at least one future time instance and may be determined based on one or more factors associated with the beam prediction as discussed below.

[0088] In one example, the first duration may be determined based on a first observation window for the beam prediction, and / or a first prediction window for the beam prediction. Alternatively, or in addition, in another embodiment, the first duration may be determined based on a first interval between two consecutive future time instances corresponding to two beam prediction results, and / or a first number of future time instances with the unchanged predicted beam. In some embodiments, the time length of the first interval between two consecutive future time instances may be the same or different.

[0089] In some embodiments, the first duration may include a time length between the reference time and the earliest future time instance. Further, the reference time of the earliest time instance for the predicted results may be based on the most recent occasion of the CSI-RS / SSB resource in Set B for measurement, where the most recent occasion of the CSI-RS / SSB resource of set B is the latest CSI-RS / SSB occasion no later than the corresponding CSI reference resource of the corresponding inference report.

[0090] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, the threshold time length may be pre-defined as a default value, such as, stipulated by the wireless standards, the service provider, or the network operator. In some other embodiments, the threshold time length may be determined by the first device or a second device different from the first device. For example, if the first device is a terminal device, the first device may report the threshold time length to the network device or receive the threshold time length from the network device. If the first device is a network device, the first device may receive the threshold time length reported by the terminal device, or may configure the threshold time length to the terminal device.

[0091] In some embodiments, the threshold time length may be associated with one or more factors associated with the CSI prediction. In one example, the threshold time length may be associated with a duration required for obtaining the input for performing the CSI prediction. For example, the threshold time length may be associated with a second observation window for CSI prediction. Alternatively, or in addition, for another embodiment, the threshold time length may be associated with a second interval between two consecutive historical time instances corresponding to two historical CSI measurements, and / or a second number of historical time instances required for performing the CSI prediction.

[0092] Alternatively, or in addition, the threshold time length may be associated with a duration related to the CSI prediction results. For example, the threshold time length may be associated with a second prediction window for CSI prediction. Alternatively, or in addition, for another embodiment, the threshold time length may be associated with a third interval between two consecutive future time instances corresponding to two CSI prediction results, and / or a third number of future time instances with CSI prediction results. In some embodiments, the time length of the third interval between any two consecutive future time instances may be same or different.

[0093] Alternatively, or in addition, the threshold time length may be associated with the time length between a reference time and the earliest future time instance. Further, the reference time of the earliest time instance with CSI prediction results may be based on the most recent occasion of the CSI-RS / SSB resource for measurement, where the most recent occasion of the CSI-RS / SSB resource for measurement is the latest CSI-RS / SSB occasion no later than the corresponding CSI reference resource of the corresponding inference report.

[0094] In the following, examples about how to determine whether the first condition is met will be discussed in detail.

[0095] In some embodiments, the first device may determine a plurality of beam prediction results corresponding to a plurality of future time instances. In some cases, the plurality of beam prediction results may be determined by the first device itself, for example, the first device performs the beam prediction. Alternatively, the plurality of beam prediction results may be received from the second device, for example, the second device performs the beam prediction. Then, based on the plurality of beam prediction results, the first device may determine the first duration and determine whether the first condition is met.

[0096] In some embodiments, the first device may determine at least one TCI state to be applied to at least one future time instance. In some cases, the at least one TCI state may be determined by the first device itself. For example, the first device is a network device, and the first device may determine the at least one TCI state based on at least one inference report from a terminal device, where the at least one inference report comprises the beam prediction results. Alternatively, the at least one TCI state may be received from the second device, for example, the first device is a terminal device, and may receive the at least one TCI state from a network device. Then, based on the at least one TCI state, the first device may determine whether the first condition is met.

[0097] As discussed above, the first device may not a device that is responsible for performing the CSI prediction, or the first device needs to receive the RS measurement result from the second device to implement the CSI prediction. If so, when the first device determines the first condition is met, the first device may provide related information to the second device (i.e., a device that is responsible for performing the CSI prediction or the RS measurement related to a CSI prediction) , such that the second device may: 1) obtain enough information for determining the fact the first condition is met; 2) be triggered to perform CSI prediction; and / or 3) be triggered to perform the RS measurement related to a CSI prediction.

[0098] In some embodiments, the first device may transmit an indication that the first condition is met to the second device. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first device may transmit below indication to the second device: an indication of at least one TCI state to be applied to at least one future time instance (the at least one TCI state is determined by the first device based on the predicted beam that remains unchanged) .

[0099] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first device may transmit a dataset consisting of at least one historical CSI measurement for the CSI prediction to the second device. With the dataset, the second device may perform the CSI prediction without further CSI measurement (or with less further measurement) .

[0100] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first device may transmit an indication of at least one beam / TCI state / RS, wherein the CSI prediction or RS measurement on the at least one beam / TCI state  / RS is required / needed.

[0101] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first device may transmit an indication to the second device, which may be used for activating at least one of the following: a CSI prediction, an RS measurement related to the CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for the CSI prediction. For example, if a terminal device determines a first condition is met, the terminal device may transmit the indication for requesting the network device to perform the CSI prediction. For another example, if a network device determines a first condition is met, the network device may indicate the terminal device to activate the CSI prediction, the RS measurement related to the CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for the CSI prediction.

[0102] Accordingly, when the first device determines the first condition is not met any more, the first device also may provide related information to the second device (i.e., a device that is responsible for performing the CSI prediction or the RS measurement related to a CSI prediction) . As one example, the first device may transmit an indication that the first condition is not met to the second device. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the first device may transmit an indication to the second device, where the indication is used for deactivating at least one of the following: a CSI prediction, an RS measurement related to a CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction.

[0103] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first device may transmit an indication of at least one beam / TCI state  / RS, wherein the CSI prediction or RS measurement on the at least one beam / TCI state  / RS is not required / needed.

[0104] In some other cases, if the first device is the device that is responsible for performing the CSI prediction or the RS measurement related to a CSI prediction, but the first device cannot obtain enough information for determining whether the first condition is met, the first device also may obtain the related information from the second device.

[0105] In some embodiments, the first device may receive a message from the second device, where the message may include an indication that the first condition is met, and / or an indication for activating at least one of the following: a CSI prediction, an RS measurement related to a CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction.

[0106] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the message may include an indication of at least beam / TCI state  / RS indicator, wherein the CSI prediction or RS measurement on the at least one beam / TCI state  / RS is required / needed.

[0107] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the message may include an indication of at least one TCI state to be applied to at least one future time instance, wherein the at least one TCI state is determined based on the predicted beam that remains unchanged. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the message may indicate a dataset consisting of at least one historical CSI measurement for the CSI prediction.

[0108] Accordingly, the message also may include an indication that the first condition is not met and / or an indication for deactivating at least one of the following: a CSI prediction, an RS measurement related to a CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the message also may include an indication of at least one beam / TCI state  / RS, wherein the CSI prediction or RS measurement on the at least one beam / TCI state  / RS is not required / needed.

[0109] It should be noted that all the above information comprised in the message (either transmitted by the first device or received by the first device) is discussed for purposes of illustration.

[0110] According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, based on whether the CSI prediction is performed by the first device, whether the first device is configured with an inference configuration for a CSI prediction, and / or whether the RS measurement related to a CSI prediction is performed by the first device, the first device may behave differently based on the fact of whether the first condition is met, which will be discussed in the following.

[0111] As illustrated in FIG. 2, in a case where a first condition is met, the first device may activate a CSI prediction associated with a beam prediction (at block 220-1) and / or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction (at block 220-3) . Accordingly, in a case where a first condition is not met (or in response to an ending of the first duration) , the first device may deactivate a CSI prediction associated with a beam prediction (at block 230-1) and / or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction (at block 230-3) . Additionally, in some embodiments, the CSI prediction may be associated with the beam prediction that remains unchanged in the first duration. In some embodiments, a time instance corresponding to a furthest predicted CSI may be within the first duration.

[0112] In some embodiments, as illustrated in FIG. 3A, if the CSI prediction and / or the inference configuration for the CSI prediction is activated, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one CSI prediction result corresponding to at least one future time instance. Accordingly, if the CSI prediction and / or the inference configuration for the CSI prediction is deactivated, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one measured CSI.

[0113] In some embodiments, in a case where the CSI prediction and the beam prediction are performed jointly (such as, by a single model) by the first device, more information may be comprised in the measurement report (s) transmitted by the first device. Specifically, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report to a second device, where the at least one measurement report may comprise at least one of the following: - at least one indicator of at least one first future time instance for the beam prediction, - at least one indicator corresponding to at least one beam prediction result corresponding  to the at least one first future time instance, - at least one indicator of at least one second future time instance for the CSI prediction,  or - at least one indicator corresponding to at least one CSI prediction result corresponding  to the at least one second future time instance (where the at least one CSI prediction result may be for the predicted beam that is unchanged) .

[0114] In the example of FIG. 2, in a case where a first condition is met, the first device may activate an RS measurement related to a CSI prediction (at block 220-2) , and in a case where the first condition is not met (or in response to an ending of the first duration) , the first device may deactivate an RS measurement related to a CSI prediction (at block 230-2) .

[0115] In some embodiments, as illustrated in FIG. 3B, if the RS measurement related to the CSI prediction is activated, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one historical CSI measurement corresponding to at least one historical time instance, and if the RS measurement related to the CSI prediction is deactivated, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one measured CSI.

[0116] In some embodiments, in a case where the CSI prediction and the beam prediction are performed jointly (such as, by a single model) by the second device, more information may be comprised in the measurement report (s) transmitted by the first device. Specifically, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report to a second device, where the at least one measurement report may comprise at least one of the following: - at least one indicator of at least one first historical time instance for the beam prediction, - at least one indicator corresponding to at least one RS measurement result  corresponding to the at least one first historical time instance, - at least one indicator of at least one second historical time instance for the CSI  prediction, or - at least one indicator corresponding to at least one historical CSI measurement  corresponding to the at least one second future time instance.

[0117] Optionally, in some embodiments, the first device and the second device may exchange capability-related information with each other. The capability-related information may include but not limited to candidate configurations, candidate parameters of configurations, applicability report of the candidate configurations, candidate parameters of configurations and the likes. Further, the capability related information may be carried in UE assistance information (UAI) or RRC reconfiguration complete information, or any suitable signalling / message.

[0118] One example capability-related information is that the first device supports performing the beam prediction and the CSI prediction jointly. Another example capability-related information is that the first device supports reporting a beam prediction result and a CSI prediction result jointly. Further example capability-related information may be: whether to support beam prediction at the first device and CSI prediction at the second device, and whether to support activation / deactivation CSI prediction based on beam prediction results; It should be noted that other capability-related information also may be exchanged.

[0119] Merely for better understanding about the above example processes, more details will be discussed in the following. In below examples, UE / NW is used as an example of the first device and / or the second device.

[0120] In a nutshell, the (temporal) CSI prediction at a first device / entity may be activated if a first condition is met (and may be not activated if a first condition is not met) , where the first condition may be that: a predicted beam is unchanged in a first time duration which is longer than or equal to a threshold time length.

[0121] In some embodiments, the first time duration may be associated with the future time instances of beam prediction, and the threshold time length may be associated with the required historical measurement of CSI prediction and the CSI prediction for future time instance. Further, the beam prediction may be performed at the first device / entity or a second device / entity, and the CSI prediction is associated with the predicted beam.

[0122] In some embodiments, the predicted CSI at future time instances may be limited to a first time duration that predicted / applied beam stays / retains unchanged, wherein whether the predicted / applied beam is changed or not in future time instances may be determined based on the temporal beam prediction for the future time instances or NW TCI configuration for the future time instances.

[0123] In some examples, the historical CSI measurement, which would be used as model input for CSI prediction, may also be within the first time duration. In other words, the applied beam for historical CSI measurement and the applied beam for future time instances with CSI prediction may be the same.

[0124] In some examples, the first time duration may be related to a first observation window and / or a first prediction window for the model inference of beam prediction, or a first time gap between two consecutive future time instances, and / or a first number of future time instances, for model inference of beam prediction.

[0125] In some examples, the threshold time length may be related to a second observation window and / or a second prediction window for the model inference of CSI prediction, or a second time gap between two consecutive historical time instances, and a second number of historical time instances for model inference of CSI prediction.

[0126] As discussed above, the beam prediction and the CSI prediction may be performed either at the UE or the NW. In the following, different scenarios will be discussed separately. Examples of UE-sided model sequential model inference for beam and CSI are discussed first, where the beam prediction and CSI prediction may be done sequentially.

[0127] In some embodiments, UE may perform temporal beam prediction (such as, BM-Case 2) . If a predicted beam stays unchanged in future time instances for a first duration larger than or equal to a threshold time length (i.e., the first condition is met) , the temporal CSI prediction may be performed for the (unchanged) predicted beam.

[0128] Alternatively, in some examples, UE predicted beams may be not fully adopted by NW. If so, whether the first condition is met may be determined based on the NW indication. Specifically, if a predicted beam (or a future beam) indicated by NW stays unchanged in future time instances for a first duration larger than a threshold time length (i.e., the first condition is met) , temporal CSI prediction may be performed for the predicted beam (or a future beam) . Otherwise, CSI prediction may be not performed (i.e., the first condition is not met) . In some examples, legacy CSI measurement and report is used if the first time duration is smaller than the threshold, for NW to obtain the CSI of beams it would schedule.

[0129] As illustrated in FIG. 3A, for the first duration from 1st future instance to the i-th instance, a predicted beam is not changed, which means that the first duration of the predicted beam is sufficiently long to have a meaningful CSI prediction for the predicted beam. On the other hand, the predicted beam at i-th future time instance and the predicted beam at j-th time instance are not the same. If the first duration from i-th future time instance to j-th future time instance is shorter than the threshold time length, it means that there is no sufficient time for CSI prediction, or the predicted CSI is not valid, so that it is better not to perform CSI prediction.

[0130] Further refer to FIG. 4A, which illustrates a signaling flow 400A for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 4A, (step 1) the NW provides RRC configuration to the UE, where the RRC configuration may comprise a first inference configuration for beam prediction. In some embodiments, the first inference configuration may include information on Set B / Set A configuration, inference report configuration and so on. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first inference configuration may include timing related information: e.g., time gap (gap_beam) between two consecutive future time instances, and the number of future time instance (s) (F_beam) , such as, time gap between two consecutive historical time instances, and the number of historical time instance (s) . Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first inference configuration may include information on the observation window, the prediction window for beam prediction and so on.

[0131] In some embodiments, the RRC configuration may comprise a second inference configuration for CSI prediction. In some embodiments, the second inference configuration may include CSI-RS resource configuration, inference report configuration and so on. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the second inference configuration may include the timing related information, e.g., time gap (gap_csi) between two consecutive future time instances, and the number of future time instance (s) (F_csi) , such as, time gap between two consecutive historical time instances, and the number of historical time instance (s) . Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the second inference configuration may include information on the observation window, the prediction window and so on. In some embodiments, the second inference configuration for CSI prediction may be not valid or not effective until a first condition met as discussed above.

[0132] In some embodiments, the first condition may be defined to be: the predicted beam is not changed in a first duration, where the first duration is larger than or equal to a threshold time length, and the threshold time length may be: the time length = time gap (gap_csi) between two consecutive future time instances * (the number of future time instance (s) (F_csi) + X) , where X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and on. In some examples, the threshold time length may include the time for historical measurement.

[0133] In some examples, the threshold time length may be NW configured or UE reported or predefined.

[0134] Then, (step 2) DL RS transmission may be provided from NW to the UE. The DL RS transmission at least corresponds to the set B beams. In some examples, the DL RS transmission also may include CSI-RS for CSI prediction, where the CSI-RS resource may be configured without qcl-info, the applied qcl-info of the CSI-RS may follow the applied / indicated / predicted beam.

[0135] In response to the DL RS transmission, (step 3) UE may perform measurement and thus may obtain model input for beam prediction. Optionally, in some examples, UE also may perform measurements for historical CSI.

[0136] At step 4, UE may perform model inference, i.e., UE performs beam prediction based on measured model input. At step 5, inference report is transmitted to the NW, i.e., beam prediction results including predicted beams for F_beam future time instances.

[0137] In some cases, NW response is not needed, UE may assume that the inference configuration of CSI prediction is activated if the first condition is met, for example, UE may calculate the first duration a predicted beam stays unchanged based on UE (reported) predicted beams of future time instances as in step 4 / 5, and determines whether the first condition is met. Optionally, in some embodiments, UE may report capability-related information on the support of activation / deactivation of CSI prediction based on beam prediction results without NW response. Accordingly, in some embodiments, NW may provide configuration to indicate whether UE may activate / deactivate the CSI prediction based on beam prediction results without NW response.

[0138] Optionally, at step 6, NW may provide response to the UE. As one example, NW may send a confirmation about the inference report of beam prediction. In some examples, NW may indicate that the inference configuration of CSI prediction is activated. In addition, NW may indicate for which beam it requires CSI prediction.

[0139] Alternatively, as another example, NW may send beam indication, which includes the beam (s) to be used in future time instances. As one example, the beam indication may consist of a list of TCI states, each TCI state will be applied at a future time instances in an order of future time instances, where two future time instances are separated with a time gap, which may be NW configured, UE reported or predefined. Optionally, in a further example, NW may update the RS for UE to measure for model input for CSI prediction. In a further example, NW may transfer a dataset for CSI prediction, where the dataset may consist of historical CSI for the beam which may be from the same UE or other UEs. The dataset can be used as model input for CSI prediction.

[0140] At step 7, UE may perform measurement to get model input for CSI prediction or CSI measurement or perform legacy CSI measurement.

[0141] In some cases, if the first condition if met, UE may perform the RS measurement for model input for CSI prediction. Specifically, UE may calculate the first duration that a predicted beam stays unchanged based on UE predicted beams of future time instances, or NW beam indication for the future instances, and determines whether the first condition met. In some examples, the first duration = F_samebeam *gap_beam or (F_samebeam +X) *gap_beam, where X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and the similar. Alternatively, in some embodiments, UE may calculate the first duration that a predicted beam stays unchanged based on NW indication, as discussed at step 6. If the first condition is not met or there is no NW indication, UE may perform legacy CSI measurement.

[0142] In some embodiments, if beam prediction results includes more than one predicted beam for future time instances, e.g., Top K beams for each instance, CSI prediction may be only for those beams reported in each of Top K, i.e., the overlapping beams cross time instances.

[0143] At step 8, model inference for CSI may be performed conditionally. Specifically, as in step 7, if CSI prediction is activated, UE may perform CSI prediction conditionally at step 8. In some examples, the furthest predicted CSI needs to be within the first duration, e.g., (F_csi_actual + X) *gap_csi <= the first duration, F_csi_actual is the number of actual needed future time instances for CSI prediction, which is <= F_csi, and X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and so on. In some examples, the time for historical measurement (e.g., observation window T_observation) needs to be included, e.g., T_observation +(F_csi_actual + X) *gap_csi <= the first duration, where X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and so on.

[0144] At step 9, if CSI prediction is activated, UE may perform CSI prediction conditionally and report the inference report for CSI. Further, UE may only report predicted CSI for F_csi_actual future time instances.

[0145] At step 10, based on reported CSI, NW may perform scheduling such as (modulation and coding scheme) MCS determination and so on.

[0146] Reference is now made to FIG. 4B, which illustrates a signaling flow 400B for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 4B, a simplified procedure may work if it is up to UE implementation to determine whether / when to perform CSI prediction, or if the AI / ML model may predict CSI for a second beam based on the input measured by a second beam.

[0147] Similar to the example of FIG. 4A, in the example of FIG. 4B, (step 1) the NW may provide RRC configuration to the UE, where the RRC configuration may comprise a first inference configuration for beam prediction and a second inference configuration for CSI prediction. Details about the first and second inference configurations are omitted.

[0148] Then, (step 2) DL RS transmission may be provided from NW to the UE. The DL RS transmission may at least correspond to the set B beams. In some examples, the DL RS transmission also may include CSI-RS for CSI prediction, where the CSI-RS resource may be configured without qcl-info, the applied qcl-info of the CSI-RS may follow the applied / indicated / predicted beam.

[0149] In response to the DL RS transmission, (step 3) UE may perform the measurements to get model input for beam prediction and / or CSI prediction. At step 4, joint beam and CSI prediction may be performed. Specifically, UE performs beam prediction based on measured model input, decides whether to perform CSI prediction, or just to perform CSI measurement. Further, the CSI prediction may be performed only for the predicted beam, or may be performed for more beams than the predicted beams, e.g., all beams.

[0150] At step 5, the inference report may be transmitted to the NW, i.e., UE reports joint predicted beam and predicted / measured CSI, where beam prediction results includes predicted beams for F_beam future time instances, and CSI prediction results includes predicted CSI for the predicted beams for F_csi future time instances.

[0151] In some examples, new UE report contents may be defined as below: predicted beam ID, predicted RSRP and predicted CSI. In some examples, RSRP may be not needed because CSI may provide more information. Thus the report content may be: predicted beam ID and predicted CSI.

[0152] In some examples, the predicted beams for F_beam future time instances are different (as in the table below) .

[0153] In some embodiments, the report content may be: F_beam*predicted beam ID and F_beam * (F_csi + X) *predicted CSI where X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and so on, “predicted beam ID” is a predicted beam ID of each beam per future time instance, and “predicted CSI” is a predicted CSI per predicted beam per future time instances of CSI prediction. Alternatively, in some embodiments, the report content may be: F_beam *predicted beam ID and F_beam *predicted CSI, where “predicted CSI” is a Vredicted CSI of each beam per future time instances of beam prediction.

[0154] In some examples, the predicted beam for F_beam future time instances may be the same. The report content may be: predicted beam ID and (F_csi + X) *predicted CSI where X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and so on, “predicted CSI” is a predicted CSI of the predicted beam per future time instances of CSI prediction. If the furthest predicted CSI is within the first duration, the report content may be: predicted beam ID and F_csi_actual *predicted CSI, where F_csi_actual *gap_csi <= the first duration.

[0155] In some examples, the AI / ML model may predict CSI for different beams, e.g., the model input is a first CSI of a first beam, the model output is a second CSI of a second beam, where the first beam and the second beam are different. Optionally, UE capability reporting may indicate the support of joint beam and CSI prediction.

[0156] In the following, examples of NW-sided model sequential model inference for beam and CSI are discussed, where the beam prediction and CSI prediction may also be done sequentially.

[0157] In some embodiments, NW may perform the temporal beam prediction. If a predicted beam stays unchanged in future time instances for a first duration larger than a threshold (i.e., the first condition is met) , the temporal CSI prediction may be performed for the predicted beam. Further, UE needs to provide historical CSI measurement results of the predicted beam, in order to provide model input for NW for model inference. Otherwise (i.e., the first condition is not met) , CSI prediction is not performed and thus the legacy CSI measurement and report may be used if the first time duration is smaller than the threshold, for NW to obtain the CSI of beams it would schedule.

[0158] As illustrated in FIG. 3B, for the first duration from 1st future instance to the i-th instance, a predicted beam is not changed, which means that the first duration of the predicted beam is sufficiently long to have a meaningful CSI prediction for the predicted beam. For NW to do model inference for CSI, historical CSI measurement results of this beam are needed. On the other hand, the predicted beam at i-th future time instance and the predicted beam at j-th time instance are not the same. If the first duration from i-th future time instance to j-th future time instance is shorter than the threshold time length, it means that there is no sufficient time for CSI prediction, or the predicted CSI is not valid, so that it is better no to perform CSI prediction.

[0159] Further refer to FIG. 4C, which illustrates a signaling flow 400C for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0160] In the example of FIG. 4C, (step 1) the NW provides RRC configuration to the UE, such that the UE may provide NW with sufficient model input. In some embodiments, the RRC configuration may include a first report configuration to provide NW model input for beam prediction, and related resource configuration, such as Set B / set A, timing related configuration, and so on.

[0161] Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the RRC configuration may include a second report configuration to provide NW model input for CSI prediction, and related resources configuration for CSI measurement. The second report configuration may be not valid or not effective until a first condition met.

[0162] Then, (step 2) DL RS transmission may be provided from NW to the UE.

[0163] In response to the DL RS transmission, (step 3) UE may perform measurement and thus may obtain model input for beam prediction. Optionally, in some examples, UE also may perform measurements for historical CSI.

[0164] At step 4, UE may report the measurement report, which may be used as the input for the beam prediction and / or CSI prediction.

[0165] At step 5, the model inference / beam prediction is performed at NW side. If NW predicted beam for future time instances satisfies the first condition, (step 6) NW may have NW-sided CSI prediction for the beam of the unchanged beam. Otherwise, NW may not enable CSI prediction. Details about the first condition has fully discussed and thus is omitted here.

[0166] In some examples, NW may provide explicit indication of the activation of CSI prediction at NW side, or the activation of the second report configuration. In addition, NW may indicate for which beam it requires CSI prediction. In some examples, NW may provide beam indication containing beams for future instances, which may be seen as implicit indication if a same predicted beam lasts a first time duration.

[0167] At step 7 and step 8, measurement for CSI prediction and report historical CSI information may be performed conditioned on that the first condition is met, or the explicit NW indication. Specifically, UE provides measurement report containing historical CSI measurement results of a predicted beam to the NW (if the first condition is met) , otherwise, UE may only need to report legacy CSI measurement results (if the first condition is not met) .

[0168] At step 9, NW performs model inference, i.e., CSI prediction at NW-sided based UE reported historical CSI measurement results. At step 10, based on reported CSI, NW may perform scheduling such as MCS determination and so on.

[0169] Reference is now made to FIG. 4D, which illustrates a signaling flow 400D for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 4D, a simplified procedure may work if it is up to NW implementation to determine whether / when to perform CSI prediction, or if the AI / ML model may predict CSI for a second beam based on the input measured by a second beam.

[0170] In the example of FIG. 4C, (step 1) the NW provides RRC configuration to the UE, such that the UE may provide NW with sufficient model input. In some embodiments, the RRC configuration may include a report configuration to provide NW model input for beam prediction and a report configuration to provide NW model input for CSI prediction.

[0171] Then, (step 2) DL RS transmission may be provided from NW to the UE.

[0172] At step 3 and step 4, the measurement report may need to be done for both beam measurement and CSI measurement for each beam (assuming N beams to be reported) . In some examples, a new UE report content may be N* (beam ID of each beam + RSRP of each beam + CSI of each beam) . In some examples, RSRP may be not needed because CSI may provide more information, so the report content may be: N * (beam ID of each beam + CSI of each beam) . In some examples, M historical CSI measurement results are needed, the report content is: N * (beam ID of each beam + M *CSI of each beam per historical measurement for CSI) . At step 5, the joint beam and CSI prediction may be performed at NW side.

[0173] Examples where sequential model inference with UE sided beam prediction and NW-sided CSI prediction are discussed in the following. In other words, the beam prediction and CSI prediction may be done at different entities, for example, UE-sided beam prediction and sequential NW-sided CSI prediction if the first condition met.

[0174] In some embodiments, UE may perform temporal beam prediction. If a predicted beam stays unchanged in future time instances for a first duration larger than or equal to a threshold, UE can trigger NW (or up to NW) to do temporal CSI prediction for the predicted beam. UE needs to provide historical CSI measurement results of the predicted beam, in order to provide model input for NW for model inference.

[0175] Otherwise, CSI prediction is not performed. Legacy CSI measurement and report may be used if the first time duration is smaller than the threshold, for NW to obtain the CSI of beams it would schedule.

[0176] As illustrated in FIG. 3B, for the first duration from 1st future instance to the i-th instance, a predicted beam is not changed, which means that the first duration of the predicted beam is sufficiently long to have a meaningful CSI prediction for the predicted beam. NW first needs to be aware that the predicted beam is not changed, which means UE reported prediction results and for NW to do model inference for CSI, historical CSI measurement results of this beam are needed.

[0177] Further refer to FIG. 4E, which illustrates a signaling flow 400E for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0178] In the example of FIG. 4E, (step 1) the NW provides RRC configuration to the UE, where the RRC configuration may comprise a first inference configuration for beam prediction. In some embodiments, the first inference configuration may include information on Set B / Set A configuration, inference report configuration and so on. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first inference configuration may include the timing related information: e.g., time gap (gap_beam) between two consecutive future time instances, and the number of future time instance (s) (F_beam) , such as, time gap between two consecutive historical time instances, and the number of historical time instance (s) . Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the first inference configuration may include information on the observation window, the prediction window and so on.

[0179] In some embodiments, the RRC configuration may comprise a second report configuration to provide NW model input for CSI prediction, and related resources configuration for CSI measurement. The second report configuration may not be valid or not effective until a first condition is met.

[0180] Then, (step 2) DL RS transmission may be provided from NW to the UE.

[0181] In response to the DL RS transmission, (step 3) UE may perform measurement and thus may obtain model input for beam prediction. Optionally, in some examples, UE also perform measurements for historical CSI.

[0182] At step 4, UE performs model inference, i.e., UE performs beam prediction based on measured model input. At step 5, inference report is transmitted to the NW, i.e., beam prediction results including predicted beams for F_beam future time instances. In some examples, UE also request NW to perform NW-sided CSI prediction, for example, when the UE determines the first condition is met. In some examples, the same predicted beam lasts a first duration serves as an implicit request to NW.

[0183] In some cases, NW response is not needed, UE may assume that the second report configuration is activated if the first condition is met. UE may calculate the first duration a predicted beam stays unchanged based on UE predicted beams of future time instances as in step 4 / 5, and determines whether the first condition met.

[0184] At step 6, if UE predicted beam for future time instances satisfies the first condition, NW may have NW-sided CSI prediction for the beam of the unchanged beam. Otherwise, NW may not enable CSI prediction. Optionally, NW may provide response to the UE. For one example, NW may send a confirmation about the inference report of beam prediction. In some examples, NW also may indicate that the second report configuration is activated. As another example, NW may send beam indication, which includes the beam (s) to be used in future time instances. In some examples, NW may provide beam indication containing beams for future instances, which may be seen as implicit indication if a same predicted beam lasts a first time duration.

[0185] At step 7 and step 8, the measurement for CSI prediction and report historical CSI information may be performed conditioned on that the first condition is met, or the explicit NW indication. Specifically, UE provides measurement report containing historical CSI measurement results of a predicted beam to the NW (if the first condition is met) , otherwise, UE may only need to report legacy CSI measurement results (if the first condition is not met) .

[0186] At step 9, NW may perform model inference, i.e., CSI prediction at NW-sided based UE reported historical CSI measurement results. At step 10, based on reported CSI, NW may perform scheduling such as MCS determination and so on.

[0187] In the following, examples of sequential model inference with NW-sided beam prediction and UE sided CSI prediction are discussed. Specifically, the beam prediction and CSI prediction can be done at different entities, for example, NW-sided beam prediction and sequential UE sided CSI prediction if the first condition met.

[0188] In some embodiments, NW may perform temporal beam prediction. If a predicted beam stays unchanged in future time instances for a first duration larger than a threshold (i.e., the first condition is met) , NW may trigger UE to do temporal CSI prediction for the unchanged predicted beam. Otherwise, CSI prediction is not performed (i.e., the first condition is not met) . In some examples, legacy CSI measurement and report may be used if the first time duration is smaller than the threshold, for NW to obtain the CSI of beams it would schedule.

[0189] As illustrated in FIG. 3A, for the first duration from 1st future instance to the i-th instance, a predicted beam is not changed, which means that the first duration of the predicted beam is sufficiently long to have a meaningful CSI prediction for the predicted beam. NW knows that the predicted beam is not changed, and it can trigger UE to perform CSI prediction, using explicit indication or implicit indication such as beam indication for future time instances.

[0190] Further refer to FIG. 4F, which illustrates a signaling flow 400F for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0191] In the example of FIG. 4F, (step 1) the NW provides RRC configuration to the UE, where the RRC configuration comprises a first report configuration to provide NW model input for beam prediction, and related resource configuration, such as Set B / set A.

[0192] In some embodiments, the RRC configuration may comprise a second inference configuration for CSI prediction. In some embodiments, the second inference configuration may include CSI-RS resource configuration, inference report configuration and so on. Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the second inference configuration may include timing related information, e.g., time gap (gap_csi) between two consecutive future time instances, and the number of future time instance (s) (F_csi) , such as, time gap between two consecutive historical time instances, and the number of historical time instance (s) . Alternatively, or in addition, in some embodiments, the second inference configuration may include information on observation window, prediction window and so on. In operation, the second inference configuration for CSI prediction may be not valid or not effective until a first condition met as discussed above.

[0193] Then, (step 2) DL RS transmission may be provided from NW to the UE.

[0194] At step 4, a measurement report comprising the measurement result for Set B may be provided to NW. At step 5, beam prediction at NW-sided may be performed.

[0195] At step 6, if NW predicted beam for future time instances satisfies the first condition, NW may trigger UE sided CSI prediction for the beam of the unchanged beam. In one example, NW may indicate that inference configuration of CSI prediction is activated. In another example, NW may send beam indication, which includes the beam (s) to be used in future time instances. In some examples, NW may provide beam indication containing beams for future instances, which may be seen as implicit indication if a same predicted beam lasts a first time duration.

[0196] In some embodiments, NW may update the RS for UE to measure for model input for CSI prediction. In some examples, NW may transfer a dataset for CSI prediction, the dataset may consist of historical CSI for the beam, from the same UE or other UEs, the dataset may be used as model input for CSI prediction.

[0197] At step 7, the measurement to get model input for CSI prediction or CSI measurement may be performed conditionally. Specifically, if the first condition is met, UE may perform the measurement for model input for CSI prediction, for example, UE may calculate the first duration that a predicted beam stays unchanged based on NW indication or NW beam indication for the future instances, and may determine whether the first condition met. If the first condition is not met or no NW indication, UE may perform the legacy CSI measurement.

[0198] In some embodiments, if beam prediction results includes more than one predicted beam for future time instances, e.g., Top K beams for each instance, CSI prediction may only be for those beams reported in each of Top K, i.e., the overlapping beams cross time instances.

[0199] At step 8, model inference for CSI may be performed conditionally. Specifically, as in step 7, if CSI prediction is activated, UE may perform CSI prediction conditionally at step 8. In some examples, the furthest predicted CSI is within the first duration, e.g., e.g., (F_csi_actual + X) *gap_csi <= the first duration, F_csi_actual is the number of actual needed future time instances for CSI prediction, which is <= F_csi, X = 0, or ±1 or ±2 and so on.

[0200] At step 9, if CSI prediction is activated, UE may perform CSI prediction conditionally and report the inference report for CSI. Further, UE may only report predicted CSI for F_csi_actual future time instances.

[0201] At step 10, based on reported CSI, NW may perform scheduling such as MCS determination and so on.

[0202] FIG. 5 illustrates a flowchart of a communication method 500 implemented at a first device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 500 will be described from the perspective of device 110 in FIG. 1A.

[0203] At block 510, in a case where a first condition is met, the first device activates at least one of the following: a channel state information (CSI) prediction associated with a beam prediction, a reference signal (RS) measurement related to a CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction.

[0204] At block 520, in a case where the first condition is not met, the first device deactivates at least one of the following: a CSI prediction, an RS measurement related to a CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction, wherein the first condition is determined to be met if a first duration, within which a predicted beam remains unchanged, is longer than or equal to a threshold time length.

[0205] In some example embodiments, the first duration may be associated with at least one future time instance and is determined based on at least one of the following: a first observation window for the beam prediction, a first prediction window for the beam prediction, a first interval between two consecutive future time instances corresponding to two beam prediction results, or a first number of future time instances with the unchanged predicted beam.

[0206] In some example embodiments, threshold time length may be associated with at least one of the following: a second observation window for CSI prediction, a second prediction window for CSI prediction, a second interval between two consecutive historical time instances corresponding to two historical CSI measurements, a second number of historical time instances required for performing the CSI prediction, a third interval between two consecutive future time instances corresponding to two CSI prediction results, or a third number of future time instances with CSI prediction results.

[0207] In some example embodiments, the threshold time length may be pre-defined as a default value, or determined by the first device or a second device different from the first device.

[0208] In some example embodiments, the first device may determine a plurality of beam prediction results corresponding to a plurality of future time instances; and determine whether the first condition is met based on the plurality of beam prediction results.

[0209] In some example embodiments, the first duration may be associated with at least one future time instance corresponding to at least one beam prediction result, and each beam prediction result comprises top-K predicted beams, and a predicted beam may be determined to remain unchanged in the first duration if the predicted beam is comprised in the top-K predicted beams of each of the at least one beam prediction result.

[0210] In some example embodiments, the first device may receive, from a second device, an indication indicative of at least one of the following: at least one transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state to be applied to at least one future time instance, or a plurality of beam prediction results corresponding to a plurality of future time instances; and determine whether the first condition is met based on the indication.

[0211] In some example embodiments, the first device may receive, from a second device, a message comprising at least one of the following: an indication that the first condition is met, an indication for activating at least one of the following: a channel state information (CSI) prediction, a reference signal (RS) measurement related to a CSI prediction, or an inference configuration for a CSI prediction, an indication of at least one transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state to be applied to at least one future time instance, wherein the at least one TCI state is determined based on the predicted beam that remains unchanged, or a dataset consisting of at least one historical CSI measurement for the CSI prediction.

[0212] In some example embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the CSI prediction and / or the inference configuration for the CSI prediction is activated, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one CSI prediction result corresponding to at least one future time instance; and / or in accordance with a determination that the CSI prediction and / or the inference configuration for the CSI prediction is deactivated, transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one measured CSI.

[0213] In some example embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the RS measurement related to the CSI prediction is activated, the first device may transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one historical CSI measurement corresponding to at least one historical time instance, and / or in accordance with a determination that the RS measurement related to the CSI prediction is deactivated, transmit at least one measurement report comprising at least one measured CSI.

[0214] In some example embodiments, in response to an ending of the first duration, the first device may deactivate at least one of the following: the CSI prediction, the RS measurement related to the CSI prediction, or the inference configuration for the CSI prediction.

[0215] In some example embodiments, a time instance corresponding to a furthest predicted CSI may be within the first duration.

[0216] In some example embodiments, the CSI prediction and the beam prediction may be performed jointly, and the first device may transmit, to a second device, at least one measurement report comprising at least one of the following: at least one indicator of at least one first future time instance for the beam prediction, at least one indicator corresponding to at least one beam prediction result corresponding to the at least one first future time instance, at least one indicator of at least one second future time instance for the CSI prediction, or at least one indicator corresponding to at least one CSI prediction result corresponding to the at least one second future time instance.
