Description

MEASUREMENT RELAXATION WITH SBFD OPERATIONTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] Various example embodiments relate to measurement relaxation with subband full duplex (SBFD) operation.BACKGROUND

[0002] SBFD is a mode of operation in unpaired spectrum where separate set of resource blocks (RBs) within a time division duplexing (TDD) carrier are used for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) transmission simultaneously, in non-overlapping frequency resources. SBFD may also be referred to as subband non-overlapping full duplex. Within a TDD carrier, there may be one UL subband and one or two DL subbands, which may be commonly referred to as DU / UD or DUD operation, respectively. A symbol that contains a UL subband and one or two DL subbands is known as a SBFD symbol. Radio link monitoring (RLM) is based on at least one DL signal, for example, RLM reference signal (RLM-RS) , which may be, e.g., synchronization signal block (SSB) or synchronization signal and (physical broadcast channel) PBCH block (SSB) or channel state information (CSI) RS (CSI-RS) . A user equipment (UE) is constantly monitoring the RLM-RS for the purpose of RLM. Beam failure detection (BFD) is also based on at least one DL signal.SUMMARY

[0003] A brief summary of exemplary embodiments is provided below to provide basic understanding of some aspects of various embodiments. It should be noted that this summary is not intended to identify key features of essential elements or define scopes of the embodiments, and its sole purpose is to introduce some concepts in a simplified form as a preamble for a more detailed description provided below.

[0004] In a first aspect, disclosed is an apparatus. The apparatus may include at least one processor and at least one memory. The at least one memory may store instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, may cause the apparatus at least to: receive a first configuration for SBFD operation; receive a second configuration for a downlink signal where the downlink signal is on SBFD time units and on non-SBFD time units; monitor first resources of the downlink signal, from a network device, on the SBFD time units and second resources of the downlink signal on the non-SBFD time units; and perform relaxed measurement based on an evaluation period by differentiating measurement on the second resources from measurement on the first resources in a first manner or in a second manner, in case relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled.

[0050] The network node 110 may provide a user equipment (UE) 120 (one or more UEs) with wireless access to the communication network. The wireless access may comprise downlink (DL) communication from the network node to the UE 120 and uplink (UL) communication from the UE 120 to the network node. Examples of uplink channels comprise physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) for transmitting control information and physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for transmitting data towards the network. Examples of downlink channels comprise physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for transmitting control information and physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) for transmitting data towards the user equipment.

[0051] There may be a plurality of UEs 120, 122 in the system. Each of them may be served by the same or by different network nodes 110, 112. UE may be configured with dual connectivity (DC) , wherein the UE, e.g. UE 120, may be connected to multiple network nodes 110, 112. The UEs 120, 122 may communicate with each other, in case device-to-device (D2D) communication interface is established between them via a so-called sidelink (SL) . Such D2D communications may be referred to as machine-to-machine, peer-to-peer (P2P) communications, or vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) , for example.

[0052] In the case of multiple network nodes in the communication network, the network nodes may be connected to each other via an interface. LTE specifications call such an interface as X2 interface. An interface between an LTE node and a 5G node, or between two 5G nodes may be called Xn interface.

[0053] The network nodes 110 and 112 may be further connected via another interface to a core network 116 of the communication network. The LTE specifications specify the core network as an evolved packet core (EPC) , and the core network may comprise e.g. a mobility management entity (MME) and a gateway node. The MME may handle mobility of terminal devices in a tracking area encompassing a plurality of cells and handle signalling connections between the terminal devices and the core network. The gateway node may handle data routing in the core network and to / from the terminal devices. The 5G specifications specify the core network as a 5G core (5GC) . The 5G core may comprise e.g. an access and mobility management function (AMF) and a user plane function / gateway (UPF) and other functions. The AMF may handle termination of non-access stratum (NAS) signalling, NAS ciphering &integrity protection, registration management, connection management, mobility management, access authentication and authoriztion, security context management. The UPF node may support packet routing and forwarding, packet inspection and quality of service (QoS) handling, for example.

[0054] For RLM and BFD, a relaxed measurement mechanism was introduced to reduce UE power consumption. When relaxation criteria are fulfilled, for example, when a UE is in low mobility and / or in good serving cell quality, the UE may perform a relaxed measurement on resources of the DL signal for RLM or BFD evaluation.

[0055] The relaxation criteria for low mobility may be the relaxed measurement criterion for low mobility defined in, for example, 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specification (TS) 38.331, clause 5.7.13.1. The relaxation criteria for good serving cell quality may be the relaxed measurement criterion for good serving cell quality defined in, for example, 3GPP TS 38.331, clause 5.7.13.2.

[0056] During the relaxed measurement, a UE may be allowed to measure less often for UE power saving, for example, to skip the measurement on some resources and extend the evaluation period by a scaling factor, for example, K1 / K2 as defined in 3GPP TS 38.133, Table 8.1.3.4-1 for frequency range 1 (FR1) and Table 8.1.3.4-2 for frequency range 2 (FR2) .

[0057] Taking CSI-RS as an example of the DL signal, after the SBFD operation is introduced in 3GPP Release 19 (R19) , the resources of the CSI-RS, which may be also referred to as CSI-RS resources, can occur in different types of time units, for example, symbols, slots, etc. For example, the CSI-RS resources may occur in DL symbols, which are non-SBFD symbols, and / or SBFD symbols, and the interference conditions in the DL symbols and the SBFD symbols can be quite different due to the UE-to-UE cross-link interference (CLI) in the SBFD symbols. The non-SBFD symbol may be a symbol that is used for DL reception / transmission, i.e. a symbol not containing a UL subband.

[0058] For example, if a CSI-RS resource is located in a DL symbol, the whole bandwidth of the configured CSI-RS resource, that is, the full number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) for the CSI-RS, may be measured by a UE. If a CSI-RS resource is located in a SBFD symbol, the CSI-RS resource might overlap with the UL subband. In this case, the UE will puncture i.e. not measure the PRBs overlapped in the UL subband, which leads to a smaller number of PRBs to be measured and hence a risk of inconsistent and degraded performance, compared to the measurement on the DL non-SBFD symbols.

[0059] The measurement on the CSI-RS resources in SBFD symbols and non-SBFD symbols may be different. Example embodiments of the present disclosure provide solutions for the UE measurement behavior in relaxation state taking into account the potential puncturing on the CSI-RS resources.

[0060] FIG. 2 shows an example diagram according to the example embodiments of the present disclosure. Referring to FIG. 2, a UE 210 may represent any terminal device in a network, and a network device 220 may represent a network node supporting a serving cell, e.g. primary cell (PCell) , primary secondary cell (PSCell) , special cell (SpCell) , secondary cell (SCell) etc., for the UE 110. The network node may be, for example, a base station (BS) , e.g. a next generation node B (gNB) .

[0061] Referring to FIG. 2, at 222, the UE 210 is in connected mode with a serving cell supported by the network device 220, and the serving cell is configured with SBFD operation. The following operations are performed in the connected mode, and the network device 220 and the UE 210 communicate via the serving cell.

[0062] In some embodiments, the network device 220 transmits to the UE 210 a configuration 224 for SBFD operation, which may be referred to as SBFD configuration 224. In some embodiments, the SBFD configuration 224 may be transmitted via system information, for example, a system information block (SIB) .

[0063] In some embodiments, the network device 220 also transmits to the UE 210 a configuration 226 for a DL signal where the DL signal is on SBFD time units and on non-SBFD time units. The configuration 226 for a DL signal may also be referred to as DL signal configuration 226. In some embodiments, the DL signal may be a RLM-RS, for example, a CSI-RS, and in this case the DL signal configuration 226 may be CSI-RS configuration 226. The time units may be, for example, symbols, slots, etc. For example, some of the CSI-RS are transmitted on SBFD symbols, and others of the CSI-RS are transmitted on non-SBFD symbols. The CSI-RS resources in SBFD symbols are also required to be measured by the UE 210. For example, the CSI-RS resources in SBFD symbols are punctured in the way that the measurement requirement can still apply e.g. the number of PRBs of the CSI-RS resource after puncturing is higher than a threshold, e.g., 48 PRBs.

[0064] The DL signal configuration 226 may be transmitted via system information, for example, a SIB. The DL signal configuration 226 and the SBFD configuration 224 may be transmitted via the same system information or via separate system information. In some embodiments, the DL signal configuration 226 may be included in a radio resource control (RRC) configuration provided by the network device 220.

[0065] The example embodiments of the present disclosure provide two manners, denoted as a first manner and a second manner, for the UE 210 to perform relaxed measurement based on an evaluation period in case relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled, which will be described later. In some embodiment, receiving the SBFD configuration 224 and the DL signal configuration 226, the UE 210 may transmit to the network device 220, an indication 228 indicating a capability and / or a preference for the first manner and / or the second manner. In some embodiment, the UE 210 may transmit the indication 228 before receiving the DL signal configuration 226.

[0066] For example, the indication 228 may indicate the UE 210 is capable of RLM relaxation when relaxation criteria are met. Alternatively, or additionally, for example, the indication 228 may indicate which relaxation manner the UE 210 is supporting or will use when the relaxation criteria are fulfilled. In some embodiments, the indication 228 can be used by the network device 220 to determine the relaxed evaluation period. The relaxed evaluation period, determined by the network device 220 or the UE 210, may be a period during which the UE 210 may estimate the downlink radio link quality and compare it to some thresholds e.g. Qout and Qin defined in, for example, 3GPP TS 38.133, for the purpose of monitoring downlink radio link quality of the cell by performing the relaxed measurement.

[0067] In some embodiment, the network device 220 may transmit to the UE 210, an indication 230 indicating whether the first manner or the second manner is performed in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled. In this case, whether the UE 210 will perform the first manner or the second manner in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled may be determined and indicated by the network device 220. In some embodiment, the indication 230 may comprise a scaling factor for the UE 210 to determine the relaxed evaluation period based on the scaling factor. Alternatively, the indication 230 may comprise parameters used to determine the scaling factor. The indication 230 can be per UE, per FR, per cell, or per CSI-RS resource used for RLM measurement.

[0068] In some embodiments, whether the UE 210 will perform the first manner or the second manner in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled may be determined by the UE 210, which will be described later.

[0069] In some embodiments, the evaluation period may be determined based on the indication 228 and / or the indication 230. The determination of the evaluation period will be described later.

[0070] The network device 220 may transmit the DL signal 238 via resources on SBFD time units and the DL signal 240 via resources on non-SBFD time units to the UE 210, for the UE 210 in a later operation 244 to perform the relaxed measurement based on the evaluation period by differentiating measurement on the second resources from measurement on the first resources in the first manner or in the second manner, in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled. The DL signal 238 and the DL signal 240 may be the same kind of signal, for example, CSI-RS, and numeral 238 refers to the DL signal whose resources are on the SBFD time units, and numeral 240 refers to the DL signal whose resources are on the non-SBFD time units. The resources on the SBFD time units may be referred to as first resources, and the resources on the non-SBFD time units may be referred to as second resources, in order to make difference between the resources of the DL signal.

[0071] In an operation 242, the UE 210 may keep monitoring the resources configured for, e.g., RLM measurement, on SBFD and non-SBFD time units and evaluate whether the relaxation criteria are fulfilled. Before relaxation criteria is fulfilled, the legacy RLM evaluation period, e.g., defined in 3GPP TS 38.133 clause 8.1.3.2 would apply.

[0072] In the operation 242, in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled, in the operation 244, the UE 210 may perform the relaxed measurement based on the relaxed evaluation period by differentiating the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the first manner or in the second manner.

[0073] In some embodiment, the UE 210 may transmit to the network device 220, an indication 236 indicating how the relaxed measurement is to be performed by the UE 210. The indication 236 may be transmitted in, for example, a relaxation reporting signaling which is used to inform network the relaxation status of the UE 210. In this case, the indication 236 may happen after the UE 210 determines to perform relaxed measurement i.e. when the relaxation criteria are fulfilled in the operation 242. With such signaling exchange, both the UE 210 and the network device 220 may be aligned on the relaxation measurement behavior and hence may have the common understanding on the evaluation period.

[0074] In an operation 246, the UE 210 may perform the relaxed measurement based on the evaluation period in the first manner; alternatively, in an operation 248, the UE 210 may perform the relaxed measurement based on the evaluation period in the second manner. The first manner and the second manner according to the example embodiments will be described in combination with FIG. 3 and FIG. 4. FIG. 3 shows an example scenario with DUD SBFD configuration to which the example embodiments according to the present disclosure can be implemented. FIG. 4 shows an example scenario with DU / UD SBFD configuration to which the example embodiments according to the present disclosure can be implemented.

[0075] In the operation 246, the differentiating of the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the first manner may comprise: skipping the measurement on the first resources. Taking CSI-RS as an example of the DL signal, referring to FIG. 3, CSI-RS resource 330 is on non-SBFD symbol 310, CSI-RS resource 332 is on SBFD symbol 314, CSI-RS resource 334 is on SBFD symbol 322, and CSI-RS resource 336 is on SBFD symbol 326. On SBFD symbols 314, 322, and 326, the PRBs configured for the CSI-RS overlap in the UL subband, and the overlapped PRBs are punctured.

[0076] According to the first manner, in the operation 246, the UE 210 may skip the measurement on the first resources, i.e. CSI-RS resource 332 on SBFD symbol 314, CSI-RS resource 334 on SBFD symbol 322, and CSI-RS resource 336 on SBFD symbol 326. In other words, during the symbols 310 to 328 shown in FIG. 3, the UE 210 may only measure CSI-RS resource 330 on non-SBFD symbol 310.

[0077] Taking CSI-RS as an example of the DL signal, referring to FIG. 4, CSI-RS resource 430 is on non-SBFD symbol 410, CSI-RS resource 432 is on SBFD symbol 414, CSI-RS resource 434 is on SBFD symbol 422, and CSI-RS resource 436 is on SBFD symbol 426. On SBFD symbols 414, 422, and 426, the PRBs configured for the CSI-RS overlap in the UL subband, and the overlapped PRBs are punctured.

[0078] According to the first manner, in the operation 246, the UE 210 may skip the measurement on the first resources, i.e. CSI-RS resource 432 on SBFD symbol 414, CSI-RS resource 434 on SBFD symbol 422, and CSI-RS resource 436 on SBFD symbol 426. In other words, during the symbols 410 to 428 shown in FIG. 4, the UE 210 may only measure CSI-RS resource 430 on non-SBFD symbol 410.

[0079] In some embodiments, the evaluation period in case of the first manner may be determined by the UE 310 in an operation 234. For example, in the operation 234, the UE 210 may determine the evaluation period for the relaxed measurement based on the SBFD configuration 224 and the DL signal configuration 226.

[0080] For example, the UE 210 may determine the evaluation period based on a scaling factor relating to distribution ratio of the first resources and the second resources over the first resources and the second resources of the DL signal during a certain time period e.g. in the evaluation period. For example, in the scenarios shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, the distribution ratio of the first resources over the CSI-RS resources is 1 / 4, and the distribution ratio of the second resources over the CSI-RS resources is 3 / 4. In this case the scaling factor may be four, and the evaluation period may be the legacy evaluation period multiplied by four.

[0081] In some embodiments, the scaling factor may be a periodicity in time domain of the first resources divided by a periodicity of the DL signal. For example, in the scenarios shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, the periodicity of the CSI-RS resource 330 / 430 on the non-SBFD symbol 310 / 410 is four times the periodicity of the CSI-RS. In this case the scaling factor is four, and the evaluation period may be the legacy evaluation period multiplied by four.

[0082] In some embodiments, the scaling factor may be a number of the first resources and the second resources versus a number of the first resources, within the evaluation period. For example, in the scenarios shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, the number of the first resources and the second resources is four times the number of the first resources. In this case the scaling factor is four, and the evaluation period may be the legacy evaluation period multiplied by four.

[0083] Referring back to FIG. 2, in the operation 248, the differentiating of the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the second manner may comprise: skipping a ratio of the measurement on the first resources and the second resources by skipping the measurement on the first resources until the ratio, and skipping the measurement on the second resources until the ratio if the measurement on the first resources in the evaluation period is skipped.

[0084] Assuming that the ratio is 50%, according to the second manner, in the operation 248, in the scenario shown in FIG. 3, the UE 210 may skip the measurement on two first resources, i.e. any two of CSI-RS resource 332 on SBFD symbol 314, CSI-RS resource 334 on SBFD symbol 322, and CSI-RS resource 336 on SBFD symbol 326. In this case the ratio 50%is reached. In other words, during the symbols 310 to 328 shown in FIG. 3, the UE 210 may measure CSI-RS resource 330 on non-SBFD symbol 310 and any one of CSI-RS resource 332 on SBFD symbol 314, CSI-RS resource 334 on SBFD symbol 322, and CSI-RS resource 336 on SBFD symbol 326.

[0085] Assuming that the ratio is 25%, according to the second manner, in the operation 248, in the scenario shown in FIG. 4, the UE 210 may skip the measurement on one first resources, i.e. any one of CSI-RS resource 432 on SBFD symbol 414, CSI-RS resource 434 on SBFD symbol 422, and CSI-RS resource 436 on SBFD symbol 426. In this case the ratio 25%is reached. In other words, during the symbols 310 to 328 shown in FIG. 3, the UE 210 may measure CSI-RS resource 330 on non-SBFD symbol 310 and any two of CSI-RS resource 332 on SBFD symbol 314, CSI-RS resource 334 on SBFD symbol 322, and CSI-RS resource 336 on SBFD symbol 326.

[0086] Assuming that the ratio is 75%, according to the second manner, in the operation 248, in an example scenario (not shown) where in the evaluation period there are 50 first resources on SBFD symbols and 50 second resources on non-SBFD symbols, the UE 210 may skip the measurement on the 50 first resources, but the ratio 75%has not been reached. The UE 210 may further skip the measurement on 25 second resources to reach the ratio 75%and measure the other 25 second resources.

[0087] In some embodiments, the evaluation period in case of the second manner may be determined by the UE 310 in the operation 234. For example, in the operation 234, the UE 210 may determine the evaluation period for the relaxed measurement based on a scaling factor relating to a fixed value. For example, the evaluation period may be the legacy evaluation period multiplied by the scaling factor.

[0088] In some embodiments, the scaling factor may be predefined, for example predefined in a standard. Alternatively, or additionally, in some embodiments, the scaling factor may be configured by the network device 220, for example, indicated by the indication 230. Alternatively, or additionally, in some embodiments, the scaling factor may be indicated by the UE 210, for example, indicated by the indication 228 or the indication 236. Alternatively, or additionally, in some embodiments, the scaling factor may be reciprocal of the fixed value, i.e. 1 / fixed value. In some embodiments, the fixed value may be associated with the ratio, for example, a complement of the ratio, i.e. 1-ratio. If the ratio is 75%, the fixed value is 0.25, and the scaling factor may be four.

[0089] In some embodiments, whether the UE 210 will perform the first manner or the second manner in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled may be determined by the UE 210. For example, in an operation 232, the UE 210 may determine whether the first manner or the second manner is performed in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled, based on the SBFD configuration 224 and / or the DL signal configuration 226.

[0090] For example, in some embodiments, in case the first resources are located within a DL subband, the UE 210 may determine to perform the second manner. For example, referring to FIG. 3, assuming that the first resources are located within the DL subband 340 in SBFD symbols 312 to 316 and the DL subband 350 in SBFD symbols 322 to 326, in this case the UE 210 may determine to perform the second manner. Otherwise, the UE 210 may determine to perform the first manner.

[0091] Alternatively, or additionally, in some embodiments, in case the second resources are more than the first resources, the UE 210 may determine to perform the second manner. For example, if there are more CSI-RS resources in DL symbols than the CSI-RS resources in SBFD symbols, e.g. TCSI-RS_SBFD / TCSI-RS_DL > 2, where TCSI-RS_SBFD denotes the periodicity of CSI-RS resources in SBFD symbols, and TCSI-RS_DL denotes the periodicity of. CSI-RS resources in DL symbols, the UE 210 may determine to perform the second manner. Otherwise, the UE 210 may determine to perform the first manner.

[0092] Alternatively, or additionally, in some embodiments, in case the SBFD configuration 224 comprises one DL subband and one UL subband without another DL subband, the UE 210 may determine to perform the second manner. For example, if the SBFD configuration 224 is DU / UD SBFD configuration, e.g. the DU / UD SBFD configuration shown in FIG. 4, the UE 210 may determine to perform the second manner. Otherwise, for example, if the SBFD configuration 224 is DUD SBFD configuration, e.g. the DUD SBFD configuration shown in FIG. 3, the UE 210 may determine to perform the first manner.

[0093] According to the example embodiments of the present disclosure, by prioritizing the measurement on non-SBFD time units, a better measurement performance can be achieved by avoiding the negative impact due to the puncturing on UL subband.

[0094] According to the example embodiments of the present disclosure, an example representing the possible impact in clause for RLM measurement requirement in SBFD operation on a standard, e.g. 3GPP TS 38.133, may be shown as Table 1 below.

[0095] Table 1: Clause for RLM measurement requirement in SBFD operation 8.1.3.4 Minimum requirement of CSI-RS based radio link monitoring for UE fulfilling relaxed measurement criteria This clause contains minimum requirements for relaxed radio link monitoring based on CSI-RS. UE shall be able to evaluate whether the downlink radio link quality on the configured RLM-RS resource estimated over the last TEvaluate_out_CSI-RS_Relax period becomes worse than the threshold Qout_CSI-RS within TEvaluate_out_CSI-RS_Relax evaluation period. TEvaluate_out_CSI-RS_Relax is defined in table 8.1.3.4-1 for FR1. TEvaluate_out_CSI-RS_Relax is defined in table 8.1.3.4-2 for FR2 with scaling factor N=1. The value of P is defined in clause 8.1.3.2. Longer evaluation period would be expected if the combination of RLM-RS resource, SMTC  occasion and measurement gap configurations does not meet previous conditions. For either an FR1 or FR2 serving cell, longer evaluation period would be expected during the  period Tidentify_CGI when the UE is requested to decode an NR CGI. For either an FR1 or FR2 serving cell, longer evaluation period would be expected during the  period Tidentify_CGI, E-UTRAN when the UE is requested to decode an LTE CGI. The values of Mout used in table 8.1.3.4-1 and table 8.1.3.4-2 are defined as: -Mout = 20, if the CSI-RS resource configured for RLM is transmitted with higher layer  CSI-RS parameter density [6, clause 7.4.1] set to 3 and over the bandwidth ≥ 24 PRBs. Table 8.1.3.4-1: Evaluation period TEvaluate_out_CSI-RS_Relax for FR1 Table 8.1.3.4-2: Evaluation period TEvaluate_out_CSI-RS_Relax for FR2

[0096] Alternatively, in some embodiments, if the UE 210 wants to quit from the relaxed measurement earlier during performing the relaxed measurement, the UE 210 may prioritize the measurement on the first resources on SBFD time units. In case the downlink radio link quality is below some threshold, the UE 210 may quit from the relaxed measurement and perform the legacy measurement.

[0097] FIG. 5 shows a flow chart illustrating an example method 500 according to the example embodiments of the present disclosure. The example method 500 may be performed for example by an apparatus such as an apparatus in the UE 210 above mentioned.

[0098] Referring to the FIG. 5, the example method 500 may comprise: an operation 510 of receiving a first configuration for SBFD operation; an operation 520 of receiving a second configuration for a downlink signal where the downlink signal is on SBFD time units and on non-SBFD time units; an operation 530 of monitoring first resources of the downlink signal, from a network device, on the SBFD time units and second resources of the downlink signal on the non-SBFD time units; and an operation 540 of performing relaxed measurement based on an evaluation period by differentiating measurement on the second resources from measurement on the first resources in a first manner or in a second manner, in case relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled.

[0099] In some embodiments, the differentiating of the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the first manner may comprise: skipping the measurement on the first resources.

[0100] In some embodiments, the example method 500 may comprise: determining the evaluation period for the relaxed measurement based on the first configuration and the second configuration.

[0101] In some embodiments, the evaluation period may be determined based on a scaling factor relating to distribution ratio of the first resources and the second resources over the first resources and the second resources of the downlink signal in the evaluation period.

[0102] In some embodiments, the scaling factor may be a periodicity of the first resources divided by a periodicity of the downlink signal, or a number of the first resources and the second resources versus a number of the first resources, within the evaluation period.

[0103] In some embodiments, the differentiating of the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the second manner may comprise: skipping a ratio of the measurement on the first resources and the second resources by skipping the measurement on the first resources until the ratio, and skipping the measurement on the second resources until the ratio if the measurement on the first resources in the evaluation period is skipped.

[0104] In some embodiments, the example method 500 may comprise: determining the evaluation period for the relaxed measurement based on a scaling factor relating to a fixed value.

[0105] In some embodiments, the scaling factor may be at least one of the following: predefined, configured by the network device, indicated by the apparatus, or reciprocal of the fixed value.

[0106] In some embodiments, the example method 500 may comprise: receiving from the network device a first indication indicating whether the first manner or the second manner is performed in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled.

[0107] In some embodiments, the example method 500 may comprise: determining whether the first manner or the second manner is performed in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled, based on at least one of the following: the first configuration, or the second configuration.

[0108] In some embodiments, the second manner may be performed in at least one of the following cases: the first resources are located within a downlink subband, the second resources are more than the first resources, or the first configuration comprises one downlink subband and one uplink subband without another downlink subband.

[0109] In some embodiments, the example method 500 may comprise: transmitting to the network device, a second indication indicating a capability and / or a preference for the first manner and / or the second manner.

[0110] In some embodiments, the example method 500 may comprise: transmitting to the network device, a third indication, in a relaxation reporting signaling, indicating how the relaxed measurement is to be performed.

[0111] In some embodiments, the evaluation period may be determined based on at least one of the following: an indication from the network device, or an indication from the apparatus indicating a capability and / or a preference for the first manner and / or the second manner.

[0112] FIG. 6 shows a flow chart illustrating an example method 600 according to the example embodiments of the present disclosure. The example method 600 may be performed for example by an apparatus such as an apparatus in the network device 220 above mentioned.

[0113] Referring to the FIG. 6, the example method 600 may comprise: an operation 610 of transmitting to a UE, a first configuration for SBFD operation; an operation 620 of transmitting to the UE, a second configuration for a downlink signal where the downlink signal is on SBFD time units and on non-SBFD time units; and an operation 630 of transmitting to the UE, the downlink signal via first resources on SBFD time units and second resources on non-SBFD time units, for the UE to perform relaxed measurement based on an evaluation period by differentiating measurement on the second resources from measurement on the first resources in a first manner or in a second manner, in case relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled.

[0114] In some embodiments, the differentiating of the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the first manner may comprise: skipping the measurement on the first resources.

[0115] In some embodiments, the differentiating of the measurement on the second resources from the measurement on the first resources in the second manner may comprise: skipping a ratio of the measurement on the first resources and the second resources by skipping the measurement on the first resources until the ratio, and skipping the measurement on the second resources until the ratio if the measurement on the first resources in the evaluation period is skipped.

[0116] In some embodiments, the example method 600 may comprise: transmitting to the UE, a first indication indicating whether the first manner or the second manner is performed in case the relaxation criteria for the measurement are fulfilled.

[0117] In some embodiments, the first indication may comprise a scaler factor for the UE to determine the relaxed evaluation period based on the scaling factor.

[0118] In some embodiments, the example method 600 may comprise: receiving from the UE, a second indication indicating a capability and / or a preference of the UE for the first manner and / or the second manner.

[0119] In some embodiments, the example method 600 may comprise: receiving from the UE, a third indication, in a relaxation reporting signaling, indicating how the relaxed measurement is to be performed by the UE.

[0120] FIG. 7 shows, by way of example, a block diagram of an apparatus 10. The apparatus 10 comprises, for example, at least one processor 12 and at least one memory 14 storing instructions 15 that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus 10 at least to perform the method or methods as disclosed herein, and any of the embodiments thereof. In an example, the at least one memory and the instructions (e.g. a computer program code, software) , are configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus 10 to perform the method or methods as disclosed herein, and any of the embodiments thereof.

[0121] A processor 12 may comprise circuitry, or be constituted as circuitry or circuitries, the circuitry or circuitries being configured to perform phases of methods in accordance with example embodiments described herein. As used in this application, the term “circuitry” may refer to one or more or all of the following: (a) hardware-only circuit implementations, such as implementations in only analog and / or digital circuitry, and (b) combinations of hardware circuits and software, such as, as applicable: (i) a combination of analog and / or digital hardware circuit (s) with software / firmware and (ii) any portions of hardware processor (s) with software (including digital signal processor (s) ) , software, and memory (ies) that work together to cause an apparatus, such as a user equipment, to perform various functions) and (c) hardware circuit (s) and or processor (s) , such as a microprocessor (s) or a portion of a microprocessor (s) , that requires software (e.g., firmware) for operation, but the software may not be present when it is not needed for operation. This definition of circuitry applies to all uses of this term in this application, including in any claims. As a further example, as used in this application, the term circuitry also covers an implementation of merely a hardware circuit or processor (or multiple processors) or portion of a hardware circuit or processor and its (or their) accompanying software and / or firmware. The term circuitry also covers, for example and if applicable to the particular claim element, a baseband integrated circuit or processor integrated circuit for a mobile device or a similar integrated circuit in server, a cellular network device, or other computing or network device.

[0122] The memory 14 may be implemented using any suitable data storage technology. The memory may comprise a database for storing data. The memory 14 may be at least in part external to apparatus 10 but accessible to apparatus 10.

[0124] For example, the apparatus 10 is a terminal device, such as the UE 210. As another example, the apparatus is comprised in such a terminal device, e.g. as a chipset configured to control the terminal device. The apparatus 10 may be caused or configured to perform at least the method 500 and / or any one or more of the embodiments described.

[0125] As another example, the apparatus 10 is a network node, e.g. the network device 220. In another embodiment, the apparatus is comprised in such a network node, e.g. as a chipset configured to control the network node. The apparatus 10 may be caused or configured to perform at least the method 600 and / or any one or more of the embodiments described.
