[0039] A communication system may include a radio access network (RAN) that supports wireless communication. Communication of a RAN may be performed in accordance with one or more radio access technologies (RATs) , including 4G, 5G, or 6G, among others, including technologies not explicitly mentioned herein. A RAT may employ access technologies (such as multiplexing technologies) including code division multiple access (CDMA) , time division multiple access (TDMA) , frequency division multiple access (FDMA) , orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA) , single-carrier FDMA (SC-FDMA) , time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) , or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM) , among others. A RAT may support one or more service types, including machine type communication (MTC) , massive MTC (mMTC) , Internet of Things (IoT) , narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) , reduced capability (RedCap) , enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) , ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) , or public safety, among others.

[0040] To support these and other target verticals, a communication system (such as a RAN) may be designed to implement one or more of a modularized functional infrastructure, a disaggregated and service-based network architecture, network function virtualization, network slicing, multi-access edge computing, spatial processing or multipath techniques, IoT or RedCap device connectivity and management, industrial connectivity, licensed and unlicensed spectrum access, sidelink or other device-to-device (D2D) direct communication (such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X) ) , frequency spectrum expansion, overlapping spectrum use, small cell deployments, non-terrestrial network (NTN) deployments, device aggregation, advanced duplex communication (such as sub-band full-duplex (SBFD) ) , multiple-subscriber implementations, high-precision positioning, radio frequency (RF) sensing, network energy savings (NES) , low-power signaling and radios, or artificial intelligence or machine learning (AI / ML) , among other examples.

[0041] The foregoing and other technological improvements may support use cases such as voice calls, messaging, data transfer, streaming, wireless data centers, extended reality (XR) and metaverse applications, vehicle connectivity, holographic and mixed reality communication, autonomous and collaborative robots, sensing networks, gesture monitoring, human-brain interfacing, digital twin applications, asset management, and universal coverage using non-terrestrial or aerial platforms, among other examples. As the demand for connectivity continues to increase, further improvements may be implemented, and other RATs, including 6G and beyond, may be introduced to enable new applications and use cases. The systems, methods, and devices described herein may enable one or more of the foregoing technologies or new technologies or support one or more of the foregoing use cases or new use cases.

[0042] In some wireless communication systems, channel state information (CSI) may be obtained (e.g., based on measurements of one or more reference signals such as CSI reference signals (CSI-RSs) ) to evaluate the characteristics of a wireless channel. For example, a user equipment (UE) may generate a CSI report based on CSI-RSs received from a network entity, and the UE may transmit the CSI report to the network entity. The network entity may perform one or more adjustments to communication parameters as a result of the obtained CSI. In some scenarios, CSI may become outdated by the time the UE generates and sends the CSI report to the network entity. For example, in fast-moving scenarios (e.g., when the UE is moving at a high rate of speed) , at the time the network receives a CSI report generated based on a set of CSI-RSs, the UE may no longer be at the position the UE was at when the UE received the CSI-RSs. Accordingly, in some scenarios, the UE may predict future CSI (e.g., based on already-obtained or measured CSI) , such as through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models. The UE may provide predicted future CSI in a CSI report (which may also be referred to as an inference CSI report or a predicted CSI report) . Multiple types of AI-based CSI reports may be generated and reported, including compressed CSI reports, CSI prediction reports, temporal beam prediction reports, and spatial beam prediction reports. For example, a UE may predict measurements for a set of beams (referred to as Set A beams) based on measurements of reference signals (e.g., CSI-RSs or synchronization signal blocks) received via a second set of beams (referred to as Set B beams) . In some examples, the set A beams may be different from the set B beams, which may be referred to as spatial beam prediction (e.g., measurements for narrower beams may be predicted based on measurements of wider beams, or measurements for a subset of beams may be predicted based on measurements of other beams within the set) . In some examples, the predicted measurements of the Set A beams may be for a future time with respect to the actual measurements of the Set B beams, which may be referred to as temporal beam prediction. In some examples, a UE may use an AI or ML model to compress CSI (e.g., by using prior reported CSI to compress the information actually transmitted) , and the network entity may use a corresponding AI or ML model to decompress the received compressed CSI.

[0043] Generation of CSI reports may involve CSI processing units (CPUs) at the UE (e.g., memory and computing resources dedicated to the generation and transmission of a CSI report) . The UE may report CPU capabilities of the UE to the network entity, and the network entity may schedule the UE to prepare CSI reports based on the quantity and duration of occupation of CPUs at the UE associated with the CSI reports (e.g., in accordance with the reported UE CPU capabilities) . Different types of AI-based CSI reports may involve different processing loads (and thus different quantities of CPUs) at the UE.

[0044] Aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure relate to capability reporting, by the UE, of different quantities of concurrent AI-based CSI reports that the UE may generate for the different types of AI-based CSI reports. For example, the UE may report respective quantities of compressed CSI reports, CSI prediction reports, temporal beam prediction reports, and / or spatial beam prediction reports that the UE may concurrently generate. The UE may also report respective quantities of combinations of the different types of the AI-based CSI reports the UE may concurrently generate. In some examples, the types of AI-based CSI reports may have different sub-types based on associated processing loads, and the quantities of supported concurrent AI-based CSI reports that the UE reports may be indicated per processing load. In some examples, the UE may report concurrent CSI report processing capabilities per processing timeline. For example, a UE may be able to generate fewer AI-based CSI reports for a tighter (e.g., lower latency) processing timeline than a more relaxed (e.g., higher latency) processing timeline. The network may schedule AI-based CSI reports for the UE in accordance with the indicated quantities of concurrent AI-based CSI reports supported by the UE.

[0045] Particular aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented to realize one or more of the following potential advantages. For example, techniques described herein may be used to bound the network flexibility of triggering concurrent CSI processing in accordance with the reported UE capability of concurrent AI-based CSI report processing. In some examples, by reporting the capability of the quantities of different types of AI based CSI reports the UE may be able to concurrently generate, the described techniques can be used to schedule the UE to generate concurrent CSI reports of different CSI report types in accordance with the UE capability. In addition, such scheduling may account for differing processing loads associated with different types of AI-based CSI reports and / or different timelines associated with different latency demands. For example, faster processing timelines may be used when smaller quantities of CSI reports are scheduled. Conversely, slower processing timelines may be applied when the UE is scheduled to process multiple CSI reports and / or a more complex CSI report.

[0046] Figure 1 shows an example of a wireless communication system 100. The wireless communication system 100 includes a core network 150 and a RAN 120 that support communication with one or more devices, such as UEs 115. A RAN 120 may include one or more network entities 105 configured to support wireless communication with the UEs 115.

[0047] The wireless communication system 100 may support communication among network entities 105 and UEs 115 in accordance with a layered protocol stack. For example, in a user plane, communication at a bearer layer, a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer, or Service Data Adaption Protocol (SDAP) layer may be Internet Protocol (IP) -based. A Radio Link Control (RLC) layer may perform packet segmentation and reassembly to communicate via logical channels. A Medium Access Control (MAC) layer may perform priority handling and multiplexing of logical channels into transport channels. A MAC layer also may implement error detection techniques, error correction techniques, or retransmissions. In a control plane, a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer may provide establishment, configuration, and maintenance of an RRC connection between UEs 115 and a network entity 105 or a core network 150, supporting radio bearers for user plane data. A Physical (PHY) layer may map transport channels to physical channels.

[0048] A core network 150 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, IP connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions (such as via network entities 105) . A core network 150 may be a 5G core (5GC) or 6G core (6GC) , and may include at least one control plane entity that manages access and mobility and at least one user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (such as a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , a user plane function (UPF) ) .

[0049] A network entity 105 may support wireless communication in accordance with one or more coverage areas 110, and may be referred to as a network element, a network node, a RAN node, or network equipment, among other nomenclature. One or more of the network entities 105 may include or may be referred to as a base station. Depending on its capabilities, a base station may be referred to as a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB or giga-NodeB (either of which may be referred to as a gNB) , a 5G NB, a 6G NB, a next-generation eNB (ng-eNB) , a Home NodeB, a Home eNodeB, or other suitable terminology. The wireless communication system 100 may include a heterogeneous network in which different types of network entities 105 support communication for one or more coverage areas 110 using the same or different RATs.

[0050] In some examples, a network entity 105 may be implemented in an aggregated (such as monolithic, standalone) architecture, which may utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within one network entity 105 (such as a single physical RAN node) . In some other examples, a network entity 105 may be implemented in a disaggregated architecture, which may utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed among multiple network entities 105, including in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) , or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) . In a disaggregated architecture, a network entity 105 may include or be referred to as one or more of a central unit (CU) (such as CU 160) , a distributed unit (DU) (such as DU 165) , a radio unit (RU) (such as RU 170) , or a combination thereof. The wireless communication system 100 may also implement a service-based architecture that provides a modular framework in which control plane functionality and common data repositories may be delivered through a set of interconnected network functions (NFs) that may access services of other NFs.

[0052] The wireless communication system 100 may support various types of communication links among devices. For example, wireless communication between a network entity 105 and a UE 115 may be supported using one or more of a communication link 125 (such as a Uu interface) , which may include downlink communication from a network entity 105 to a UE 115, uplink communication from a UE 115 to a network entity 105, or both. Direct wireless communication between UEs 115 may be supported using a communication link 135 (such as a device-to-device (D2D) communication link, a sidelink, a PC5 interface) .

[0053] Communication between a network entity 105 and a core network 150 may be supported using a backhaul link 132 (such as an S1, N2, N3, NG, or other interface) . In some implementations, communication between network entities 105 may be supported using a backhaul link 132 (such as an X2, Xn, or other interface) either directly (such as directly between network entities 105) or indirectly (such as via a core network 150) . In some implementations (such as in a disaggregated architecture) , communication between a CU 160 and a DU 165 may be supported using a midhaul link 162, and communication between a DU 165 and an RU may be supported using a fronthaul link 168. A backhaul link 132, a midhaul link 162, a fronthaul link 168, or any combination thereof may be or include one or more wired links (such as an electrical link, an optical fiber link) or one or more wireless links (such as a radio link, a wireless optical link) , among other examples or combinations thereof. Wireless backhaul, midhaul, or fronthaul may be implemented via one or more IAB nodes 104, which may act as a relay using resources of an IAB donor network entity 105 (such as via a wireless link 130) .

[0054] The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more of a relay 172 that may steer or reflect signals transmitted by other entities, which may support any of the described communication links. A relay 172 may include active elements or passive elements, and may be in the form of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) . An RIS may include tunable reflecting antenna arrays or metasurfaces, which may be used to enhance coverage or efficiency in multipath environments.

[0055] Network entities 105 and UEs 115 each may include one or multiple antennas. Multiple antennas of such devices may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, MIMO communication, or beamforming, and may be organized or structured as one or more antenna panels, one or more antenna groups, one or more sets of antenna elements, or one or more antenna arrays, among other examples. As used herein, the term “antenna” may refer to one or more antennas, one or more antenna panels, one or more antenna groups, one or more sets of antenna elements, or one or more antenna arrays. The term “antenna panel” may refer to a group of antennas (such as antenna elements) arranged in an array or panel, which may facilitate beamforming by manipulating parameters associated with the group of antennas. In some implementations, an antenna panel may support RF beamforming for a signal transmitted or received via an antenna port. The term “antenna module” may refer to circuitry including one or more antennas as well as one or more other components (such as filters, amplifiers, processors, beamformers) associated with integrating the antenna module into a device such as a network entity 105 or a UE 115.

[0056] Beamforming, such as directional transmission or directional reception, is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (such as at a network entity 105, at a UE 115) to shape or steer a beam 175 (such as an antenna beam, a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path (such as along a direction) , which may include one or more paths between a transmitting device and a receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals communicated via multiple antenna elements of an antenna array such that signals propagating along some orientations (such as relative to the antenna array) experience constructive interference while others may experience destructive interference. Adjustments of signals communicated via the antenna elements may include a transmitting device or a receiving device applying phase offsets, amplitude offsets, or other adjustments to signals carried via (such as transmitted by, received by) antenna elements of the device, which may be defined by a beamforming weight set associated with a particular orientation (such as relative to the antenna array of the device) .

[0057] Communication resources of the wireless communication system 100 (such as of a RAN 120) may refer to a resource in the frequency domain (such as a frequency resource, an RF resource) , a resource in the time domain (such as a time resource) , a resource in the spatial domain (such as a spatial resource, a spatial layer) , or a combination thereof. The wireless communication system 100 may leverage orthogonality of such resources to convey different communications to or from different devices (such as for a communication link 125, for a communication link 135, for unicast communication, for multicast communication, for broadcast communication) .

[0058] A frequency resource may refer to a frequency or range of frequencies (such as a bandwidth, a frequency channel) of a frequency band implemented for wireless communication. For example, a frequency resource may refer to a resource of a lower frequency band (such as Frequency Range 1 (FR1) , between 425 MHz and 7.125 GHz) , a mid-band (such as Frequency Range 3 (FR3) , between 7.125 GHz and 24.25 GHz) , or an upper frequency band (such as Frequency Range 2 (FR2) , between 24.25 GHz and 71 GHz) . Communication in the upper frequency band may be referred to as millimeter wave (mmW) communication, and communication above an upper frequency band (such as between mmW and THz frequencies, between 100 GHz and 1 THz) may be referred to as sub-Terahertz (sub-THz) communication.

[0059] A frequency resource may refer to a “carrier” (such as a frequency channel) , or portion thereof, and a carrier bandwidth may be referred to as a “system bandwidth. ” A carrier may be subdivided in the frequency domain, including into subcarriers, bandwidth parts (BWPs) , or both. For example, a resource block (RB) , such as a physical resource block (PRB) , may be defined in accordance with a set of subcarriers (such as twelve consecutive subcarriers in the frequency domain) , and a BWP may be configured in accordance with a set of RBs (such as a set of contiguous RBs) .

[0060] A frequency resource may be configured to carry either downlink communication or uplink communication (such as in a frequency division duplexing (FDD) configuration) , or may be configured to carry both downlink and uplink communication (such as in a time division duplexing (TDD) configuration, in a sub-band full duplex (SBFD) configuration) . One or more numerologies for a carrier may be supported, each associated with a subcarrier spacing (SCS) and a cyclic prefix (CP) . Supported numerologies may vary by frequency range (such as FR1, FR2, FR3) , and a carrier may be divided into portions (such as BWPs) having the same or different numerologies. BWPs may be configured as uplink BWPs or downlink BWPs (such as by a network entity 105) , including in response to network conditions (such as to allocate uplink and downlink BWPs in response to traffic conditions) , device capability (such as allocating BWPs with a greater quantity of RBs to UEs 115 with relatively higher capabilities) , or both. A UE 115 may be configured with a set of multiple BWPs (such as a set of uplink BWPs, a set of downlink BWPs, or both) , and a single BWP of a set (such as an active UL BWP, an active DL BWP, or both) may be active at a given time, such that communication of a UE 115 is supported by active BWP (s) .

[0061] A time resource may refer to a duration of a frame (such as a radio frame, a frame structure) , or portion thereof. For example, a frame may span a duration of 10 ms, and each frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) . A frame may be subdivided in the time domain, including into subframes, slots, mini-slots, or a combination thereof. Slots or mini-slots may each include a respective quantity of symbols (such as symbol durations, symbol periods, OFDM symbols) , which may be a function of a configured CP. A duration of a symbol is a function of the SCS or frequency band of operation.

[0062] A spatial resource may refer to an antenna, an antenna direction, an antenna port, a signal direction (such as a beamforming direction) , or other resource that supports spatial orthogonality. A device (such as a network entity 105, a UE 115) may perform communications of a given frequency resource and time resource with a single spatial resource (such as communication without regard to spatial orthogonality) . Additionally, or alternatively, a device may implement multiple spatial resources to support multiple signal streams using resources that are overlapping in the time and frequency domains (such as to support MIMO techniques) .

[0063] Signals of the wireless communication system 100 (such as of a RAN 120) may be communicated using one or more resource elements (REs) , and an RE may refer to a resource that corresponds to one subcarrier in the frequency domain and one symbol in the time domain. An RE may be used to convey a modulation symbol corresponding to one or more bits of information (such as of a physical channel, of a reference signal) in accordance with a modulation scheme. For example, a quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) or quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) technique may be implemented to communicate one or more bits that are distinguished in accordance with phase components, amplitude components, or both of a signal conveyed using a RE.A quantity of bits carried by an RE may depend on an order of the modulation scheme, and a relatively higher order may correspond to a relatively higher rate of communication. A device may support communication of REs using multiple subcarriers concurrently by implementing multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM) , among others.

[0064] Physical channels may carry information using modulation symbols conveyed by corresponding REs. Physical shared channels (such as for communicating user data) may include a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) for communicating user data in a downlink direction and a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for communicating user data in an uplink direction. Physical control channels (such as for managing communication via physical channels) may include a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) for communicating downlink control information (DCI) and a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) for communicating uplink control information (UCI) . A network entity 105 may indicate (such as schedule, allocate) communication resources for a UE 115 using DCI, including indicating downlink resources of a PDSCH (such as in accordance with a downlink grant) , uplink resources of a PUSCH (such as in accordance with an uplink grant) , or a combination thereof. A control region (such as a control resource set (CORESET) ) for a physical control channel may be configured in accordance with a pattern of REs in the time and frequency domains, and one or more control regions may be configured for a set of UEs. A UE 115 may monitor control regions for control information according to one or more search space sets, which may include a common search space set (such as for sending control information to one or more UEs 115) , UE-specific search space sets (such as for sending control information to a UE 115) , or a combination thereof. A physical broadcast channel (PBCH) may be used to broadcast parameters to UEs 115 to synchronize with a network entity 105 and establish communications (such as to establish a communication link 125) .

[0065] Certain aspects and techniques as described herein may be implemented, at least in part, using an AI program, such as a program that includes a ML or artificial neural network (ANN) model. An example ML model may include mathematical representations or define computing capabilities for making inferences from input data based on patterns or relationships identified in the input data. As used herein, the term “inferences” can include one or more of decisions, predictions, determinations, or values, which may represent outputs of the ML model. The computing capabilities may be defined in terms of certain parameters of the ML model, such as weights and biases. Weights may indicate relationships between certain input data and certain outputs of the ML model, and biases are offsets which may indicate a starting point for outputs of the ML model. An example ML model operating on input data may start at an initial output based on the biases and then update its output based on a combination of the input data and the weights.

[0066] In some aspects, an ML model may be configured to provide computing capabilities for wireless communications. Such an ML model may be configured with weights and biases to perform CSI compression, CSI prediction, and / or beam prediction. Thus, during operation of a device, the ML model may receive input data (such as such as channel quality measurements, precoder matrix, rank information, L1-RSRP measurements for beams, L1-SINR measurements for beams, ) and make inferences (such as a compressed CSI report, a predicted CSI report, temporal beam predictions, or spatial beam prediction) based on the weights and biases.

[0067] ML models may be deployed in one or more devices (for example, network entities and UEs) and may be configured to enhance various aspects of a wireless communication system. For example, an ML model may be trained to identify patterns or relationships in data corresponding to a network, a device, an air interface, or the like. An ML model may support operational decisions relating to one or more aspects associated with wireless communications devices, networks, or services. For example, an ML model may be utilized for supporting or improving aspects such as signal coding / decoding, network routing, energy conservation, transceiver circuitry controls, frequency synchronization, timing synchronization channel state estimation, channel equalization, channel state feedback, modulation, demodulation, device positioning, beamforming, load balancing, operations and management functions, security, etc.

[0068] ML models may be characterized in terms of types of learning that generate specific types of learned models that perform specific types of tasks. For example, different types of machine learning include supervised learning, unsupervised learning, semi-supervised learning, reinforcement learning, etc. ML models may be used to perform different tasks such as classification or regression, where classification refers to determining one or more discrete output values from a set of predefined output values, and regression refers to determining continuous values which are not bounded by predefined output values. Some example ML models configured for performing such tasks include ANNs such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and recurrent neural networks (RNNs) , transformers, diffusion models, regression analysis models (such as statistical models) , large language models (LLMs) , decision tree learning (such as predictive models) , support vector networks (SVMs) , and probabilistic graphical models (such as a Bayesian network) , etc.

[0069] The description herein illustrates, by way of some examples, how one or more tasks or problems in wireless communications may benefit from the application of one or more ML models for CSI compression, CSI prediction, and / or beam prediction. To facilitate the discussion, an ML model configured using an ANN is used, but it should be understood, that other types of ML models may be used instead of an ANN. Hence, unless expressly recited, subject matter regarding an ML model is not necessarily intended to be limited to an ANN solution. Further, it should be understood that, unless otherwise specifically stated, terms such “AI / ML model, ” “ML model, ” “trained ML model, ” “ANN, ” “model, ” “algorithm, ” or the like are intended to be interchangeable.

[0070] Reference signals may be communicated to establish reference characteristics (such as a frequency reference, a temporal reference, a spatial reference, a signal quality reference) between devices of a RAN 120, which may support communication using physical channels. Reference signals communicated between network entities 105 and UEs 115 may include synchronization signals (such as a primary synchronization signal (PSS) , a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) ) that support temporal synchronization, CSI-RSs that support evaluating downlink channel characteristics, sounding reference signals (SRSs) that support evaluating uplink channel characteristics, demodulation reference signals (DMRSs) that support demodulation, or phase tracking reference signals (PTRSs) for evaluating oscillator characteristics, among others. Network entities 105 and UEs 115 may receive and measure transmitted reference signals to support one or more of these and other functions.

[0071] Devices of the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support one or more aspects of the described techniques for artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. For example, a UE 115 may include a processing system 140, and a network entity 105 may include a processing system 145, each of which may be configured to cause the respective device to perform (such as being configured as means for performing) one or more of the described operations. By configuring a processing system 140, a processing system 145, or a combination thereof in accordance with the described techniques, the wireless communication system 100 (such as the RAN 120) may support capability signaling (from a UE 115 to a network entity 105) indicating quantities of concurrent AI-based CSI reports that the UE 115 may generate for the different types of AI-based CSI reports. For example, the UE 115 may report respective quantities of compressed CSI reports, CSI prediction reports, temporal beam prediction reports, and spatial beam prediction reports that the UE 115 may concurrently generate. The UE 115 may also report respective quantities of combinations of the different types of the AI-based CSI reports the UE 115 may concurrently generate. The network entity 105 may schedule AI-based CSI reports for the UE 115 in accordance with the indicated quantities of concurrent AI-based CSI reports supported by the UE 115.

[0072] Figure 2A shows an example of a CSI encoding and decoding diagram 200 that supports artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. Figure 2B shows an example of a CSI prediction timing diagram 250 supports artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. The CSI encoding and decoding diagram 200 and the CSI prediction timing diagram 250 may implement or may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100.

[0073] AI and / or ML models (e.g., which may collectively be referred to herein as AI models or as ML models) may be used to enhance CSI generation and / or reporting. As shown in the CSI encoding and decoding diagram 200, a CSI encoder 210 at a UE 115 may receive input CSI 205 and may encode or generate CSI feedback 215, which may be sent (e.g., via a PUSCH or PUCCH) to a network entity 105. A CSI decoder 220 at the network entity 105 may decode the CSI feedback 215 to generate the reconstructed CSI 225. The input CSI 205 may be a channel matrix H or precoding vectors v. In some examples, the CSI feedback 215 may be a latent message (e.g., a series of bits representative of the encoded CSI feedback) . The CSI encoder 210 may use an AI model to generate the CSI feedback 215 from the input CSI 205, and the CSI decoder 220 may use a corresponding AI model to generate the reconstructed CSI 225 from the CSI feedback 215 received over the air. In some cases, a quantization of the latent message for the CSI feedback may be part of the AI or ML model for the CSI encoder 210 and / or the CSI decoder 220. In some examples, the CSI encoder 210 may compress the input CSI 205 to generate the CSI feedback 215, and the CSI decoder 220 may decompress the CSI feedback 215 to generate the reconstructed CSI 225. For compression cases, the network entity 105 may use uplink SRS measurement (s) as an additional input to the CSI decoder 220 (e.g., to increase the accuracy of the reconstructed CSI 225 as the measurements of the uplink SRSs may provide a check for the CSI measurements) .

[0074] In some examples, AI models may be used for temporal compression CSI use cases. For example, the UE 115 and / or the network entity 105 may use past CSI and / or target CSI to perform compression (such as transmission of differential CSI feedback) . As another example, AI models may be used for joint CSI prediction and compression. For example, the input CSI 205 at the UE 115 may be past CSI measurements, and the reconstructed CSI 225 at the network entity 105 may be a predicted CSI in the future with respect to the past measurements.

[0075] For example, the CSI prediction timing diagram 250 shows a set of slots 255 (slot 255-a, slot 255-b, slot 255-c, slot 255-d, ..., slot 255-n, slot 255-o, slot 255-p, slot 255-q, slot 255-r, and slot 255-s) . As shown in the CSI prediction timing diagram 250, CSI measured in slot 255-b, slot 255-c, and slot 255-d may be used by an AI-based prediction model 260 to predict CSI in future slots (e.g., CSI in slot 255-o, slot 255-p, and slot 255-q) . For example, the historical CSI in slot 255-b, slot 255-c, and slot 255-d may be a channel matrix H or precoding vectors v, and the predicted CSI in future slots (e.g., CSI in slot 255-o, slot 255-p, and slot 255-q) may be CSI feedback such as based on a CSI codebook (e.g., Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 18 (R18) Doppler Type II codebook) .

[0076] In some examples, AI models may be used to perform beam prediction (e.g., at a UE 115 or a network entity 105) . Beam prediction may include spatial beam prediction (e.g., referred to as beam management (BM) Case1 (BM-Case1) ) and temporal beam prediction (e.g., referred to as BM Case2 (BM-Case2) ) . For example, beam prediction targets (e.g., predicted measurements or characteristics for) Set A beams may be generated or derived by an AI model based on measurements of Set B beams (e.g., the measurements of Set B beams may be the input to the AI model) . Beam prediction may allow for reduced downlink reference signal overhead (e.g., by allowing for prediction or inference of measurements that would otherwise be measured via an actual reference signal) . Beam prediction may allow for reduced power consumption at a UE, by using predictions to replace actual measurements. In some examples, spatial beam prediction may involve predicting measurements or characteristics of a set of narrow beams (such as CSI-RSs) based on measurements of a set of wide beams (such as SSBs) . In some examples, spatial beam prediction may involve predicting measurements or characteristics of a set of beams based on measurements of a subset of the set of beams (e.g., for a set of eight beams of a given beam width, measurements of four of the beams may enable inference of measurements or characteristics of the other four beams) . Temporal beam prediction may involve predicting measurements or characteristics of beams in the future based on past measurements. For example, future measurements (such as predicted L1-RSRPs) may be predicted for Set A beams based on past measured L1-RSRPs for the Set B beams. In temporal beam prediction, the Set A beams may be the same beams as the Set B beams (e.g., pure temporal prediction) , or the Set A beams may be different beams than the Set B beams (e.g., temporal and spatial prediction) .

[0077] Figure 3 shows an example of a CPU occupation duration timing diagram 300 that supports artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. The CPU occupation duration timing diagram 300 may implement or may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100.

[0078] As described herein, generation of CSI reports at a UE 115 may involve CPUs at the UE 115 (e.g., resources dedicated to the generation and transmission of a CSI report) . The network entity 105 may schedule the UE 115 to prepare CSI reports based on the quantity and duration of occupation of CPUs at the UE 115 associated with the CSI reports. For example, network triggering of concurrent CSI processing may consider UE memory cost and computation resources associated with triggered CSI reports.

[0079] A UE 115 may report a total budget of CPUs, NCPU per component carrier (CC) . The UE 115 may also report a total budget of CPUs, NCPU across CCs configured for the UE 115. At an OFDM symbol, unoccupied CPUs may be allocated to CSI reports following a priority order. The priority order PriiCSI (y, k, c, s) , may be given by equation 1. In equation 1: y = 0 for aperiodically scheduled CSI reports, y=1 for semi-persistently scheduled reports, and y=2 for periodic CSI reports. In equation 1, k=0 for layer 1 (L1) reference signal received power (RSRP) measurements, and k=1 for L1 signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) measurements and / or other measurement quantities. In equation 1, s refers to particular CSI report identifier (ID) . PriiCSI (y, k, c, s) = 2 ·Ncells ·Ms ·y + Ncells ·Ms ·k + Ms ·c + s    (1)

[0080] If a CSI report is not allocated with a CPU, the UE 115 may not be expected to update the report (e.g., may provide a stale or junk report in the indicated uplink resource for the report) .

[0081] The quantity of CPUs allocated per CSI report may be referred to as  and may depend on multiple aspects (e.g., the quantity of Ks = the quantity of resources, the report quantity and codebook type, among others) . For example, for an L1-RSRP CSI report, Ks CPUs may be allocated. As another example, for a 3GPP Release 18 Doppler codebook CSI report: 8 CPUs may be allocated for an aperiodic CSI-RS with K=12 bursts; Y1*K CPUs may be allocated if aperiodic CSI-RS with K < 12 bursts where Y1= {1, 2, 3} is a UE capability; 4 CPUs may be allocated for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS and N4=1; a max (4, Y2*N4) CPUs may be allocated for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS where N4 > 1 and Y2= {1, 2, 3} is a UE capability.

[0082] For an aperiodic CSI report or an initial semi-persistent CSI report on PUSCH, CPUs associated with the CSI report may be occupied from the DCI triggering the CSI report to the uplink transmission (e.g., the PUSCH or PUCCH) that carries the CSI report. For a periodic CSI report or a semi-persistent CSI report after the initial semi-persistent CSI report, CPUs associated with the CSI report may be occupied from the last measurement resource (e.g., the last CSI-RS used to generate the CSI report) prior to the CSI reference resource to the uplink transmission (e.g., the PUSCH or PUCCH) that carries the CSI report. The CSI reference resource may refer to a defined resource a minimum duration before the uplink transmission (e.g., the PUSCH or PUCCH) that carries the CSI report.

[0083] For example, a first downlink control message 305 (e.g., a first DCI carried via a first PDCCH) may trigger a first set of CSI reports for transmission via a first uplink transmission 315 (e.g., a PUSCH or PUCCH) , and a second downlink control message 310 (e.g., a second DCI carried via a second PDCCH) may trigger a first set of CSI reports for transmission via a second uplink transmission 320 (e.g., a PUSCH or PUCCH) . The CPU occupation duration 325 associated with the first set of CSI reports may extend from the first downlink control message 305 to the first uplink transmission 315, and the CPU occupation duration 330 associated with the second set of CSI reports may extend from the second downlink control message 310 to the second uplink transmission 320.

[0084] The first set of CSI reports scheduled by the first downlink control message 305 may include a first CSI report (CSI1) that demands 1 CPU, a second CSI report (CSI2) that demands 1 CPU, a third CSI report (CSI3) that demands 2 CPUs, and a fourth CSI report (CSI3) that demands 1 CPU. The UE 115 may have CPU capability of NCPU=6. Before the OFDM symbol where the first downlink control message 305 is received, 0 CPUs of the UE 115 may be occupied (e.g., L=0) . Accordingly, 5 CPUs may be allocated to the first set of CSI reports scheduled by the first downlink control message 305, and thus after the OFDM symbol where the first downlink control message 305 is received, L=5 (5 CPUs are occupied) and thus 1 CPU remains (e.g., NCPU-L=1. The first set of CSI reports scheduled by the second downlink control message 310 may include a fifth CSI report (CSI5) that demands 1 CPU, a sixth CSI report (CSI6) , a seventh CSI report (CSI7) , and an eighth CSI report (CSI8) . As the UE has 1 CPU remaining when the second downlink control message 310 is received, the UE 115 may perform the fifth CSI report and may not perform the sixth CSI report, the seventh CSI report, and the eighth CSI report due to an absence of available CPUs.

[0085] For AI-based CSI reports, in some examples, the UE 115 may report a capability of the UE of processing M AI models concurrently, corresponding to an M model processing unit (MPU) . In some examples, MPUs may also be referred to as AI processing units or processing units or AIML processing units. In a first technique for allocating MPUs, the MPU allocation for each CSI report may depend on a rule (e.g., the rule may define how to allocate the M processing units to the triggered AI-based CSI reports) . For example, the rule may define that: if S AI-based CSI reports start to occupy respective MPUs, and there are M-L unoccupied MPUs, the UE 115 may allocate the M-L MPUs to S’ requested CSI reports following a priority order where S′is such that the UE 115 may not update the remaining S-S’ CSI reports (and thus may report junk CSI for such CSI reports) .  may refer to the quantity of MPUs allocated to the i-th AI-based CSI report.  may depend on model complexity and may be reported as a UE capability. In some cases, a UE may report the quantity of MPUs allocated per CSI-RS resource for each individual feature including CSI compression, CSI prediction, temporal beam prediction, spatial beam prediction. The MPUs allocated per resource may be obtained by where Ks is the quantity of measurement resources for the AI-based CSI report. In another example, for CSI prediction, according a legacy 3GPP R18 specification, 8 CPUs may be allocated for an aperiodic CSI-RS with K=12 bursts, for AIML-based CSI prediction, the UE may report for the case of aperiodic CSI-RS with K=12 bursts; if aperiodic CSI-RS with K < 12 bursts, the UE may report  MPUs per resource, and total MPUs may be allocated; for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS and N4=1, 4 MPUs are allocated or the UE may report MPUs are allocated; for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS where N4 > 1, a max (4,  ) MPUs may be allocated and  is a UE capability. The priority order may be based on at least one of model  / model pairing ID, carrier ID, BWP ID, or CSI report ID, or associated ID.In some cases, a low-end UE may not have a dedicated hardware for AI / ML, in which case, the UE may report CPUs for each individual feature, or CPUs per resource for each individual feature, meaning that the processing units cost is counting towards the legacy CPU pool which is shared by other non-AIML features. In some other cases, a high-end UE may have a dedicated AI / ML hardware for AI / ML, in which case, the UE may report MPUs for each individual feature, or MPUs per resource for each individual feature, and these processing units cost count towards the new dedicated MPU pool for AI / ML. In some other cases, a high-end UE may report both  CPUs for each individual feature, or CPUs per resource for each individual feature and MPUs for each individual feature, or MPUs per resource for each individual feature, meaning that the processing units cost counts towards both legacy CPU pool and new dedicated MPU pool for AI / ML because there are pre-processing  / post-processing operations for AI / ML inference and such processing is performed using non-AI / ML hardware.

[0086] In a second technique for allocating MPUs, in addition to reporting the M value, the UE 115 may also report a model process ID for each AI model, with CSI reports using AI models with the same process ID to be supported in sequential order, and CSI reports using AI models with different process IDs being able to be processed in parallel (e.g., concurrently) .

[0087] The duration of MPU occupation time may correspond to (may be the same as) CPU occupation duration. For example, for an aperiodic AI-based CSI report or an initial semi-persistent AI-based CSI report on PUSCH, CPUs associated with the AI-based CSI report may be occupied from the first symbol after the PDCCH triggering the AI-based CSI report to the last symbol of the uplink transmission (e.g., the PUSCH or PUCCH) that carries the AI-based CSI report. For a periodic AI-based CSI report or a semi-persistent AI-based CSI report after the initial semi-persistent AI-based CSI report, MPUs associated with the AI-based CSI report may be occupied from the first symbol of the earliest one of each CSI-RS resource, CSI interference measurement resource, or SSB resource for channel or interference measurement, respective latest CSI-RS / CSI-IM / SSB occasion no later than the corresponding CSI reference resource prior to the CSI reference resource to the last symbol of the uplink transmission (e.g., the PUSCH or PUCCH) that carries the CSI report.

[0088] Figure 4 shows an example of a CSI processing timing diagram 400 that supports artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. The CSI processing timing diagram 400 may implement or may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100.

[0089] Aperiodically scheduled CSI reports may follow CSI processing timeline demands. For example, a DCI carried via a PDCCH 405 may trigger a CSI report for transmission via a PUSCH 415, where the CSI report is to be generated based on a set of non-zero power (NZP) CSI-RSs 410. CSI processing timeline demands may include two demands: (1) a minimum time demand Z (e.g., Z symbols) between the DCI that triggers the CSI report and the PUSCH that carries the CSI report; and (2) a minimum time demand Z’ (e.g., Z’ symbols) between the last symbol of the measurement resource associated with the CSI report and the PUSCH that carries the CSI report. If at least one of Z or Z’ is not satisfied for a triggered CSI report, the UE 115 may ignore the CSI report (e.g., may not generate and report the CSI report) . For example, if the duration 420 between the PDCCH 405 and the PUSCH 415 is greater than Z, or if the duration 425 between the last symbol of the set of NZP CSI-RSs 410 and the PUSCH 415 is greater than Z’, the UE 115 may ignore the CSI report scheduled by the DCI in the PDCCH 405. {Z, Z’} may be determined in accordance with various aspects, such as the report quantity, codebook type, whether there is hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgment multiplexing with the CSI report on the PUSCH, or whether wideband or subband CSI reports. Table 1 shows example timing demands for low latency CSI, high latency CSI, and beam reports for different numerologies μ. Table 2 shows example timing demands for ultra low latency CSI. Table 1 Table 2

[0090] For periodic and semi-persistent CSI reporting, the UE 115 may not be expected to measure any CSI-RS after a CSI reference resource for a given CSI report. The CSI reference resource may be Z’ symbols or 4 / 5 ms prior to the CSI reporting slot.

[0091] In NR systems, two time requirement tables may be defined. A faster (e.g., ultra low latency) processing timeline table may be applied in NR if the following conditions are satisfied: (1) No CPU is occupied when the CSI is triggered; (2) PUSCH without HARQ-ACK or transport block is scheduled for the CSI report; and (3) a single CSI report with wideband granularity, single resource, up to 4-port, codebook type is “Type I SP” , report quantity is “cri-RI-CQI” . In that case that the conditions are satisfied, all CPUs of the UE may be allocated to the single CSI report (e.g., OCPU=NCPU) . A longer (e.g., slower or more relaxed) processing timeline may be applied in other cases (e.g., where the conditions are not satisfied) . The longer timeline may depend on: the quantity of CSIs triggered and processed concurrently; the report quantity (whether the report quantity is a CSI or BM) ; the report granularity (wideband or subband) ; whether beam switching timing is to be applied; and / or the CSI codebook type. In the case that a longer timeline is applied, CPUs may be allocated per use case (e.g., the total CPU budget may be allocated to each of the CSIs triggered concurrently) .

[0092] Figure 5 shows an example of a signaling diagram 500 that supports artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. The signaling diagram 500 may implement or may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the signaling diagram 500 may include a UE 115-a, which may be an example of a UE 115 as described herein. The signaling diagram 500 may include a network entity 105-a, which may be an example of a network entity 105 as described herein.

[0093] The UE 115-a may communicate with the network entity 105-a using a communication link 125-a. The communication link 125-a may be an example of an NR or LTE link between the UE 115-a and the network entity 105-a. The communication link 125-a may include a bi-directional link that enable both uplink and downlink communications. For example, the UE 115-a may transmit uplink signals (e.g., uplink transmissions) , such as uplink control signals or uplink data signals, to the network entity 105-a using the communication link 125-a and the network entity 105-a may transmit downlink signals (e.g., downlink transmissions) , such as downlink control signals or downlink data signals, to the UE 115-a using the communication link 125-a.

[0094] The network entity 105-a may transmit reference signals, such as one or more first sets of CSI-RSs 515 and / or one or more second sets of CSI-RSs 545. The network entity 105-a may use beamforming techniques to transmit the reference signals (e.g., the one or more first sets of CSI-RSs 515 and / or one or more second sets of CSI-RSs 545) via one or more transmit beams 530 (e.g., one or more of a beam 530-a, a beam 530-b, and a beam 530-c as shown in Figure 5) . The UE 115-a may receive the reference signals (e.g., the one or more first sets of CSI-RSs 515 and / or one or more second sets of CSI-RSs 545) via one or more receive beams 535 (e.g., one or more of a beam 535-a, a beam 535-b, and a beam 535-c as shown in Figure 5) at the UE 115-a that correspond to the one or more transmit beams 530.

[0095] In some examples, the UE 115-a may provide capability signaling 505 that may indicate CPU or MPU capabilities of the UE 115-a and / or capabilities of the UE 115-a to support concurrent AI-based CSI reports. The network entity 105-a may provide scheduling information 510 for a set of AI-based CSI reports in accordance with the capabilities of the UE 115-a indicated in the capability signaling 505. For example, the scheduling information 510 may include RRC signaling that schedules one or more periodic or semi-persistent AI-based CSI reports and / or DCI that schedules one or more AI-based CSI reports. The scheduling information 510 may indicate one or more first sets of CSI-RSs 515 associated with the one or more AI-based CSI reports (e.g., which to use to generate the one or more AI-based CSI reports) . The UE 115-amay monitor for the one or more first sets of CSI-RSs 515 and may generate the AI-based CSI reports in accordance with the scheduling information 510. The UE 115-amay transmit the AI-based CSI reports in one or more uplink messages 520 (e.g., one or more PUSCHs) .

[0096] In some examples, which may be referred to as a first concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 a capability of total Mtot processing units (or total Mtot inference concurrently) , corresponding to AI processing units (e.g., MPUs) . In such examples, the UE115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 a capability of processing units cost per feature (e.g., per AI model or per AI-based CSI report type) , or Mi (e.g., the cost in MPUs per AI model or per AI-based CSI report type) may be predefined or standardized. In such examples, the MPU allocation for each AI-based CSI report may be determined according to a rule. The rule may define that: If S AI-based CSI reports start to occupy MPUs, and there are Mtot-L unoccupied MPUs, the UE 115-a may allocate the Mtot-L MPUs to S’ requested AI-based CSI reports following a priority order where S′ is such that  the UE 115-amay not update the remaining S-S’ CSI reports (e.g., may report junk CSI or null values in the corresponding uplink transmission) . In such examples,  corresponds to the quantity of MPUs allocated to the i-th AI-based CSI report;  may depend on the AI model complexity and may be reported as a UE capability in the capability signaling 505.. In some cases, the UE 115-a may report the quantity of MPUs allocated per CSI-RS resource for each individual feature including CSI compression, CSI prediction, temporal beam prediction, spatial beam prediction. The MPUs allocated per resource may be obtained by where Ks is the quantity of measurement resources for the AI-based CSI report. In another example, for CSI prediction, according a legacy 3GPP R18 specification, 8 CPUs may be allocated for an aperiodic CSI-RS with K=12 bursts, for AIML-based CSI prediction, the UE 115-amay report for the case of aperiodic CSI-RS with K=12 bursts; if aperiodic CSI-RS with K < 12 bursts, the UE 115-amay report MPUs per resource, and total  MPUs may be allocated; for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS and N4=1, 4 MPUs are allocated or the UE 115-amay report MPUs are allocated; for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS where N4 > 1, a max (4,  ) MPUs may be allocated and is a UE capability. The priority order may be based on at least one of the AI model ID, AI model pairing ID, the carrier ID, the BWP ID, the associated ID, and / or the CSI report ID.In some cases, a low-end UE may not have a dedicated hardware for AI / ML, in which case, the UE may report CPUs for each individual feature, or CPUs per resource for each individual feature, meaning that the processing units cost is counting towards the legacy CPU pool which is shared by other non-AIML features. In some other cases, a high-end UE may have a dedicated AI / ML hardware for AI / ML, in which case, the UE may report MPUs for each individual feature, or MPUs per resource for each individual feature, and these processing units cost count towards the new dedicated MPU pool for AI / ML. In some other cases, a high-end UE may report both  CPUs for each individual feature, or CPUs per resource for each individual feature and MPUs for each individual feature, or MPUs per resource for each individual feature, meaning that the processing units cost counts towards both legacy CPU pool and new dedicated MPU pool for AI / ML because there are pre-processing  / post-processing operations for AI / ML inference and such processing is performed using non-AI / ML hardware

[0097] As an example, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 a maximum capability of 3 MPUs  / CPUs, and that AI-based CSI compression and / or prediction demands 2 MPUs  / CPUs, AI-based BM case 1 (spatial prediction) demands 1 MPU  / CPUs, and AI-based BM case 2 (temporal prediction) demands 1 MPU  / CPUs. For example, such capabilities may indicate that the UE 115-a may support (1, 0, 0) , (0, 3, 0) , (0, 0, 3) , (1, 1, 0) , (1, 0, 1) , (0, 1, 1) , (0, 2, 1) , (0, 1, 2) , where the first value corresponds a quantity AI-based CSI compression and / or prediction CSI reports, the second value corresponds to a quantity of AI-based BM case 1 CSI reports, and the third value corresponds to a quantity of AI-based BM case 1 CSI reports, that may be supported by the UE 115-a concurrently.

[0098] In some examples, which may be referred to as a second concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 a quantity of concurrent flows X (inferences or AI-based CSI reports) per individual feature (e.g., per use case or type of AI-based CSI report) . For example, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling X1=1 for AI-based compression and / or prediction CSI reports, X2=3 for AI-based BM case 1 CSI reports, and X3=3 for AI-based BM case 1 CSI reports. For example, each respective X value may mean that if a single feature is triggered associated with that X value for concurrent generation, the quantity of concurrent flows or CSI reports of that single feature the UE 115-a can support (e.g., multiple CSI report triggered together for different CCs) . In the second concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 a quantity of concurrent flows Y per feature combination (e.g., per different combination of types of AI-based CSI reports) . For example, each type of AI-based CSI report may use a different AI model and may correspond to a different use case or feature (e.g., AI-based compression and / or prediction CSI reports, AI-based BM case 1 CSI reports, and AI-based BM case 2 CSI reports) . For example, each respective value of Y may mean that if the features in the combination associated with that value of Y are triggered for concurrent generation, the quantity of concurrent flows or CSI reports of those features that the UE 115-a can process concurrently across the features in the combination. For example, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 Y1=2 for {AI-based CSI compression / prediction, AI-based BM case 1} , Y2=2 for {AI-based CSI compression / prediction, AI-based BM case 2} , Y3=3 for {AI-based BM case 1, AI-based BM case 2} . In some examples, if the UE 115-a does not report any Y values for a feature combination in the capability signaling 505, that absence for the feature combination may mean that UE 115-a does not support the concurrency among those features. For example, if the UE 115-a does not report a Y value for {AI-based CSI compression / prediction, AI-based BM case 1, AI-based BM case 2} , the network entity 105-a may not trigger concurrent CSI reports for AI-based CSI compression / prediction, AI-based BM case 1, and AI-based BM case 2. When the network entity 105-aschedules AI-based CSI reports, the network entity 105-a may honor the X and Y values for the UE 115-a as reported in the capability signaling 505. For example, the scheduling information 510 may schedule the CSI reports for transmission via the one or more uplink messages 520 in accordance with the X and Y values indicated in the capability signaling 505. In some cases, AI / ML processing for each CSI-RS measurement resource may be considered as one inference flow or process. In some cases, AI / ML processing for each CSI-RS resource may be considered as multiple inference flow  / processes. The quantity of flows or processes per resource may he hardcoded in the specification or may be up to UE capability report. For example, for CSI prediction, 8 or M1 flows or processes may be counted for an aperiodic CSI-RS with K=12 bursts where M1 is reported by UE as capability; M2*K may be counted if aperiodic CSI-RS with K < 12 bursts where M2 is a UE capability; 4 or M3 flows or processes may be counted for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS and N4=1 where M3 is a UE capability; a max (4, M4*N4) flows or processes may be counted for a periodic or semi-persistent CSI-RS where N4 > 1 and M4 is a UE capability.

[0099] In some examples, which may be referred to as a third concurrent reporting technique, each AI-based CSI report type (e.g., feature) may further be bucketized into high, medium, and low processing costs, which may be reported in the capability signaling 505 or may be predefined or standardized. For example, features may be bucketized as: AI-based compression CSI reports –high processing cost, AI-based prediction CSI reports –medium processing cost, AI-based BM case 1 CSI report–low processing cost, AI-based BM case 2 CSI report –low processing cost. As another example, features may be bucketized as: AI-based CSI compression CSI report –high processing cost, AI-based prediction CSI report –medium or high processing cost, AI-based BM case 1 CSI report –low processing cost, AI-based BM case 2 CSI report –low processing cost. In examples where features are bucketized by processing cost, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505, Xhigh, Xmedium, Xlow for high, medium and low processing costs, respectively. For example, all features belonging to the high processing cost may share a same concurrent processing capability Xhigh. Similarly, all features belonging to the medium processing cost may share a same concurrent processing capability Xmedium, and all features belonging to the low processing cost may share a same concurrent processing capability Xlow, where a same concurrent processing capability means the quantity of AI-based CSI reports having that processing cost that can be generated concurrently, when only AI-based CSI reports of that level of processing cost are concurrently generated. In the third concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may further report concurrent processing capabilities Y across different processing cost categories. In some examples, the UE 115-a may report {Yhigh, k, Ymedium, k, Ylow, k} for high, medium, and low generated concurrently. For example, the UE 115-a may report a list of tuples k=1, ..., K. As another example, the UE 115-a may report another list for combination of high processing cost + medium processing cost, another list for high processing cost + low processing cost and another list for medium processing cost + low processing cost. In some examples, the UE 115-a may report: Y for high processing cost, medium processing cost, and low processing cost concurrent generation, and report Z1 for high processing cost + medium processing cost concurrent generation, Z2 for high processing cost + low processing cost concurrent generation, and Z3 for medium processing cost + low processing cost concurrent generation (where Y means that if high processing costs AI-based CSI reports + medium processing costs AI-based CSI reports + low processing costs AI-based CSI reports are triggered for concurrent generation, the UE 115-a may support up to Y total concurrent AI-based CSI reports across the high processing costs AI-based CSI reports + medium processing costs AI-based CSI reports + low processing costs AI-based CSI reports) . In some cases, AI / ML processing for each CSI-RS measurement resource is considered as one inference flow or process. In some cases, AI / ML processing for each CSI-RS resource may be considered as multiple inference flow  / processes. The quantity of flows or processes per resource may he hardcoded in the specification or up to UE capability report.

[0100] In some other cases, which may be referred to as a fourth concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may first report a multi-dimensional total processing capability (e.g., x A  / y B  / z C, where A  / B  / C represents different implementation aspects, such as computation cost, memory cost, etc, while x, y, z are the total budget on dimension A, B and C, respectively) . Secondly, for each feature (feature k) , the UE 115-a may report the individual cost in terms of x_k A  / y_k B  / z_k  / C. Then similar to the first concurrent reporting technique, the allowable concurrent processing capability is such that  and  For AI-based CSI reports not belonging to set  the UE 115-a may not be expected to update the AI-based CSI report.

[0101] In some examples, the UE 115-a may report capabilities (e.g., in accordance with the first, second, or third concurrent reporting techniques) for a single processing timeline. For example, such quantities may be defined assuming the concurrent processing may be completed with the timeline demand of each individual feature (e.g., AI-based CSI report type) . For example, for AI-based CSI related CSI processing, the UE 115-a may perform concurrent inference flows (e.g., generation of AI-based CSI reports) in accordance with the capabilities reported in accordance with the first, second, or third concurrent reporting techniques within a CSI timeline {Z_CSI, Z_CSI’} . Similarly, for AI-based BM related CSI processing, the UE 115-a may perform concurrent inference flows (e.g., generation of AI-based CSI reports) in accordance with the capabilities reported in accordance with the first, second, or third concurrent reporting techniques within a CSI timeline {Z_BM, Z_BM’} . For CSI and B based CSI processing triggered for concurrent generation, the UE 115-a may perform concurrent inference flows within a processing timeline {max (Z_CSI, Z_BM) , max (Z_CSI’, Z_BM’) } .

[0102] In some examples, for each AI-based feature (e.g., type of AI-based CSI report) , multiple processing timelines (e.g., two processing timelines) may be defined. For example, for each AI-based feature, processing timeline 1 and processing timeline 2 may be defined, where timeline 1 < timeline 2 (e.g., {Z_CSI_1, Z_CSI_1’} , {Z_CSI_2, Z_CSI_2’} , {Z_BM_1, Z_BM_1’} , {Z_BM_2, Z_BM_2’} ) .

[0103] In some examples, where multiple processing timelines are defined, the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 concurrent processing capabilities for processing timeline 1 and processing timeline 2 separately (where processing timeline 1 < processing timeline 2) .

[0104] For example, in the first concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may report higher processing costs for processing timeline 1 than processing timeline 2, or the UE 115-a may report a lower processing budget for processing timeline 1 than processing timeline 2. As another example, in the second concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may report the applicable timeline requirements for the X and Y values for the different processing timelines, where the X and Y values associated to processing timeline 1 may be smaller than those associated to processing timeline 2 (as processing timeline 1 has a lower latency (e.g., stricter) demand than processing timeline 2) . As another example, in the third concurrent reporting technique, the UE 115-a may report the applicable timeline requirements for all the X_high, X_medium, X_low values, and the Y_high, Y_medium, Y_low and Z values, where the X, Y, and Z values associated to processing timeline 1 may be smaller than those associated to processing timeline 2 (as processing timeline 1 has a lower latency (e.g., stricter) demand than processing timeline 2) . In such examples, if the network entity 105-atriggers a CSI report under the condition of the processing timeline 1, the network entity 105-a may assume that the UE 115-a processes the CSI reports following the concurrent capabilities applied to the processing timeline 1. Otherwise, the UE 115-a may process the CSI reports following the concurrent capabilities applied to the processing timeline 2. For example, the scheduling information 510 may include a field that indicates to apply the processing timeline 2 (e.g., the more relaxed processing timeline) to the AI-based CSI reports scheduled by the scheduling information 510, or the scheduling information 510 may implicitly indicate to apply the processing timeline 2 to the AI-based CSI reports scheduled by the scheduling information 510 via lack of a field that indicates to apply the processing timeline 1. As another example, scheduling information 540 may include a field that indicates to apply the processing timeline 1 to CSI reports scheduled by the scheduling information 540. The UE 115-a may receive the one or more second sets of CSI-RSs 545 as indicated by the scheduling information, and the UE 115-a may generate AI-based CSI reports using the one or more second sets of CSI-RSs 545 in accordance with the scheduling information 540 and according to the processing timeline 1. The UE 115-a may transmit one or more uplink messages 550 that convey the AI-based CSI reports in accordance with the scheduling information 540.

[0105] In some examples, the concurrent processing capabilities for the UE 115-afor the processing timeline 1 may be predefined or standardized, and the UE 115-a may report in the capability signaling 505 concurrent processing capabilities for processing timeline 2. For example, if there is single AI-based CSI report or BM CSI report, and there is sufficient remaining unoccupied concurrent complexity, the UE 115-a may perform the CSI report or BM CSI report with processing timeline 1. Sufficient remaining unoccupied concurrent complexity may correspond to no ongoing CSI processing or processing unit occupation, or the remaining quantity of CSI processes or processing units may be greater than a threshold.

[0106] Figure 6 shows an example of a process flow 600 that supports artificial intelligence based CSI concurrent processing capability indication. The process flow 600 may implement or may be implemented by aspects of the wireless communication system 100 or the signaling diagram 500. For example, the process flow 600 may include a UE 115-b, which may be an example of a UE 115 as described herein. The process flow 600 may also include a network entity 105-b, which may be an example of a network entity 105 as described herein. In the following description of the process flow 600, the communications between the network entity 105-b and the UE 115-b may be transmitted in a different order than the example order shown, or the operations performed by the network entity 105-b and the UE 115-b may be performed in different orders or at different times. Some operations may also be omitted from the process flow 600, and other operations may be added to the process flow 600.

[0107] At 605, the UE 115-b may transmit, to the network entity 105-b, capability signaling. The capability signaling may indicate, for a set of multiple CSI report features associated with artificial intelligence based inference (e.g., for a set of multiple AI-based CSI report types) , a first set of respective quantities of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b, where the first set of respective quantities includes a respective quantity of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b for each CSI report feature included in the plurality of CSI report features. For example, the first set of respective quantities may correspond to X values in the second and third concurrent reporting techniques as described herein with reference to Figure 5. The capability signaling may indicate, for the set of multiple CSI report features associated with artificial intelligence based inference, a second set of respective quantities of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b, where the second set of respective quantities includes a respective quantity of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b for each feature combination included in a set of multiple combinations of the set of multiple of CSI report features. For example, the second set of respective quantities may correspond to Y values in the second and third concurrent reporting techniques as described herein with reference to Figure 5.

[0108] In some examples, the set of multiple CSI report features may include two or more of a CSI compression feature, a CSI prediction feature, a spatial beam prediction feature, and a temporal beam prediction feature.

[0109] At 610, the UE 115-b may receive, from the network entity 105-b, scheduling information for a set of multiple concurrent CSI reports in accordance with the first set of respective quantities and the second set of respective quantities. The set of multiple concurrent CSI reports may each be associated with a CSI report feature of the set of multiple CSI report features.

[0110] At 620, the UE 115-b may transmit one or more uplink messages that include the set of multiple concurrent CSI reports in accordance with the scheduling information. In some examples, at 615, the UE 115-b may receive one or more sets of CSI-RSs in accordance with the scheduling information received at 610, and the UE 115-b may generate the set of multiple concurrent CSI reports based on the one or more sets of CSI-RSs.

[0111] In some examples, each of the set of multiple CSI report features may be associated with a respective processing cost of a set of multiple costs and a respective type of CSI report feature of a set of multiple types of CSI report features. For example, the set of multiple processing costs may include a high processing cost, a medium processing cost, and a low processing cost. In some examples, to indicate the second set of respective quantities, the capability signaling at 605 may indicate a respective total quantity of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b for each combination of processing costs of the set of multiple processing costs for the set of multiple combinations of the set of multiple types of CSI report features. In some examples, to indicate the second set of respective quantities, the capability signaling may indicate a respective total quantity of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b for a feature combination that includes each of the set of multiple types of CSI report features.

[0112] In some examples, the UE 115-b may support multiple processing timelines. For example, the first set of respective quantities and the second set of respective quantities may be associated with a first processing timeline (e.g., processing timeline 2 as described with reference to Figure 5) , and the capability signaling at 605 may further indicates: a third set of respective quantities of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b in association with a second processing timeline (e.g., processing timeline 1 as described with reference to Figure 5) , where the third set of respective quantities may include a respective quantity of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b for each CSI report feature included in the set of multiple CSI report features; and a fourth set of respective quantities of total concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b in association with the second processing timeline, where the fourth set of respective quantities includes a respective quantity of concurrent CSI reports supported by the UE 115-b for each feature combination included in the plurality of combinations of the set of multiple CSI report features. In some such examples, the second processing timeline may be associated with a lower latency than the first processing timeline (e.g., the second processing timeline may correspond to processing timeline 1 as described with reference to Figure 5 and the first processing timeline may correspond to processing timeline 2 as described with reference to Figure 5) , and the scheduling information at 610 may indicate the set of multiple concurrent CSI reports are associated with the first processing timeline (e.g., either explicitly or based on an absence of a field indicating the CSI reports are associated with the stricter processing timeline) . In some examples, the UE 115-b may receive second scheduling information for a second set of multiple concurrent CSI reports in accordance with the third set of respective quantities and the fourth set of respective quantities, where the second set of multiple concurrent CSI reports are each associated with a CSI report feature of the set of multiple CSI report features, and where the second scheduling information indicates the second set of multiple concurrent CSI reports are associated with the second processing timeline. In such examples, the UE 115-b may transmit, to the network entity 105-b, one or more second uplink messages that include the second set of multiple concurrent CSI reports in accordance with the second scheduling information.

[0113] In some examples, where the UE 115-b supports multiple processing timelines, the UE 115-b may report supported quantities of concurrent AI-based CSI reports for one of the multiple processing timelines, and supported quantities of concurrent AI-based CSI reports for another of the multiple processing timelines may be predefined or standardized. For example, the UE 115-b may receive, from the network entity 105-b, second scheduling information for a second set of CSI reports in accordance with a second processing timeline, where the second processing timeline is associated with a lower latency than a first processing timeline (e.g., the second processing timeline may correspond to processing timeline 1 as described with reference to Figure 5 and the first processing timeline may correspond to processing timeline 2 as described with reference to Figure 5) , and where the first set of respective quantities and the second set of respective quantities are associated with the first processing timeline. In such examples, the UE 115-b may transmit, to the network entity 105-b, one or more second uplink messages that include the second set of multiple concurrent CSI reports in accordance with the second scheduling information.

[0114] Figure 7 is an illustrative block diagram of an example ML model represented by an ANN 700.

[0115] ANN 700 may receive input data 706 which may include one or more bits of data 702, pre-processed data output from pre-processor 704 (optional) , or some combination thereof. Here, data 702 may include training data, verification data, application-related data, or the like, based, for example, on the stage of deployment of ANN 700. Pre-processor 704 may be included within ANN 700 in some other implementations. Pre-processor 704 may, for example, process all or a portion of data 702 which may result in some of data 702 being changed, replaced, deleted, etc. In some implementations, pre-processor 704 may add additional data to data 702. In some implementations, the pre-processor 704 may be a ML model, such as an ANN.

[0116] ANN 700 includes at least one first layer 708 of artificial neurons 710 to process input data 706 and provide resulting first layer data via connections or “edges” such as edges 712 to at least a portion of at least one second layer 714. Second layer 714 processes data received via edges 712 and provides second layer output data via edges 716 to at least a portion of at least one third layer 718. Third layer 718 processes data received via edges 716 and provides third layer output data via edges 720 to at least a portion of a final layer 722 including one or more neurons to provide output data 724. All or part of output data 724 may be further processed in some manner by (optional) post-processor 726. Thus, in certain examples, ANN 700 may provide output data 728 that is based on output data 724, post-processed data output from post-processor 726, or some combination thereof.

[0117] Post-processor 726 may be included within ANN 700 in some other implementations. Post-processor 726 may, for example, process all or a portion of output data 724 which may result in output data 728 being different, at least in part, to output data 724, as result of data being changed, replaced, deleted, etc. In some implementations, post-processor 726 may be configured to add additional data to output data 724. In this example, second layer 714 and third layer 718 represent intermediate or hidden layers that may be arranged in a hierarchical or other like structure. Although not explicitly shown, there may be one or more further intermediate layers between the second layer 714 and the third layer 718. In some implementations, the post-processor 726 may be a ML model, such as an ANN.

[0118] The structure and training of artificial neurons 710 in the various layers may be tailored to specific requirements of an application. Within a given layer such as first layer 708, second layer 714, or third layer 718 of ANN 700, some or all of the neurons may be configured to process information provided to the layer and output corresponding transformed information from the layer. For example, transformed information from a layer may represent a weighted sum of the input information associated with or otherwise based on a non-linear activation function or other activation function used to “activate” artificial neurons of a next layer. Artificial neurons in such a layer may be activated by or be responsive to parameters such as the previously described weights and biases of ANN 700. The weights and biases of ANN 700 may be adjusted during a training process or during operation of ANN 700. The weights of the various artificial neurons may control a strength of connections between layers or artificial neurons, while the biases may control a direction of connections between the layers or artificial neurons. An activation function may select or determine whether an artificial neuron transmits its output to the next layer or not in response to its received data.

[0119] Different activation functions may be used to model different types of non-linear relationships. By introducing non-linearity into an ML model, an activation function allows the configuration for the ML model to change in response to identifying or detecting complex patterns and relationships in the input data 706. Some non-exhaustive example activation functions include a sigmoid based activation function, a hyperbolic tangent (tanh) based activation function, a convolutional activation function, up-sampling, pooling, and a rectified linear unit (ReLU) based activation function.

[0120] Training of an ML model, such as ANN 700, may be conducted using training data. Training data may include one or more datasets which ANN 700 may use to identify patterns or relationships. Training data may represent various types of information, including written, visual, audio, environmental context, operational properties, etc. During training, the parameters (such as the weights and biases) of artificial neurons 710 may be changed, such as to minimize or otherwise reduce a loss function or a cost function. A training process may be repeated multiple times to fine-tune ANN 700 with each iteration.

[0121] ANN 700 or other ML models may be implemented in various types of processing circuits along with memory and applicable instructions therein. For example, general-purpose hardware circuits, such as, such as one or more central processing units (CPUs) , one or more graphics processing units (GPUs) , or suitable combinations thereof, may be employed to implement a model. In some implementations, one or more tensor processing units (TPUs) , neural processing units (NPUs) , or other special-purpose processors, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) , application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) , or the like may also be employed.

[0122] In example aspects, an ML model may be trained prior to, or at some point following, operation of the ML model, such as ANN 700, on input data. When training the ML model, information in the form of applicable training data may be gathered or otherwise created for use in training an ANN accordingly. For example, training data may be gathered or otherwise created regarding information associated with received / transmitted signal strengths, interference, and resource usage data, as well as any other relevant data that might be useful for training a model to address one or more problems or issues in a communication system. In certain instances, all or part of the training data may originate in a user equipment (UE) or other device in a wireless communication system, or one or more network entities, or aggregated from multiple sources (such as a UE and a network entity / entities, one or more other UEs, the Internet, or the like) . In another example, training data may be generated or collected online, offline, or both online and offline by a UE, network entity, or other device (s) , and all or part of such training data may be transferred or shared (in real or near-real time) , such as through store and forward functions or the like.

[0123] Once an ANN has been configured by setting parameters, including weights and biases, from training data, the ANN’s performance may be evaluated. In some scenarios, evaluation / verification tests may use a validation dataset, which may include data not in the training data, to compare the model’s performance to baseline or other benchmark information. The ANN configuration may be further refined, for example, by changing its architecture, re-training it on the data, or using different optimization techniques, etc.

[0124] In some implementations, one or more devices or services may support processes relating to a ML model’s usage, maintenance, activation, reporting, or the like. In certain instances, all or part of a dataset or model may be shared across multiple devices, to provide or otherwise augment or improve processing. In some examples, signaling mechanisms may be utilized at various nodes of wireless network to signal the capabilities for performing specific functions related to ML model, support for specific ML models, capabilities for gathering, creating, transmitting training data, or other ML related capabilities. ML models in wireless communication systems may, for example, be employed to support decisions or improve performance relating to wireless resource allocation or selection, wireless channel condition estimation, interference mitigation, beam management, positioning accuracy, energy savings, or modulation or coding schemes, etc. In some implementations, model deployment may occur jointly or separately at various network levels, such as, a UE, a network entity such as a base station, or a disaggregated network entity such as a central unit (CU) , a distributed unit (DU) , a radio unit (RU) , or the like.

[0125] Figure 8 is an illustrative block diagram of an example ML architecture 800 that may be used for wireless communications in any of the various implementations, processes, environments, networks, or use cases listed above. As illustrated, the ML architecture 800 includes multiple logical entities, such as model training host 802, model inference host 804, data source (s) 806, and agent 808. Model inference host 804 is configured to run an ML model based on inference data 812 provided by data source (s) 806. Model inference host 804 may produce output 814, which may include a prediction or inference, such as a discrete or continuous value based on inference data 812, which may then be provided as input to the agent 808.

[0126] Agent 808 may represent an element or an entity of a wireless communication system including, for example, a radio access network (RAN) , a wireless local area network, a device-to-device (D2D) communications system, etc. As an example, agent 808 may be a UE 115 or a network entity 105, an access point, a wireless station, a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) in a cloud-based RAN, among some examples. Additionally, agent 808 also may be a type of agent that depends on the type of tasks performed by model inference host 804, the type of inference data 812 provided to model inference host 804, or the type of output 814 produced by model inference host 804.

[0127] Agent 808 may perform one or more actions associated with receiving output 814 from model inference host 804. Agent 808 may indicate the one or more actions performed to at least one subject of action 810. For example, model inference host 804 may predict channel characteristics for a set of beam based on the measurements of another set of beams. Based on the predicted channel characteristics, agent 808, the UE 115, may send, to the network entity 105, a request to switch to a different beam for communications. In some cases, agent 808 and the subject of action 810 are the same entity.

[0128] Data can be collected from data sources 806, and may be used as training data 816 for training an ML model, or as inference data 812 for feeding an ML model inference operation. Data sources 806 may collect data from various subject of action 810 entities (such as, the UE or the network entity) , and provide the collected data to a model training host 802 for ML model training.

[0129] In some examples, if output 814 provided to agent 808 is inaccurate (or the accuracy is below an accuracy threshold) , model training host 802 may provide feedback to model inference host 804 to modify or retrain the ML model used by model inference host 804, such as via an ML model deployment update.

[0130] Model training host 802 may be deployed at the same or a different entity than that in which model inference host 804 is deployed. For example, in order to offload model training processing, which can impact the performance of model inference host 804, model training host 802 may be deployed at a model server.

[0131] In some aspects, an ML model is deployed at or on a network entity (such as a network entity 105 for decoding of CSI encoded in accordance with an AI model. More specifically, a model interference host, such as model inference host 804 in Figure B, may be deployed at or on the network entity for such decoding of CSI encoded in accordance with an AI model.

[0132] In some other aspects, an ML model is deployed at or on a UE (such as UE 115 for CSI compression, CSI prediction, temporal beam prediction, or spatial beam prediction. More specifically, a model inference host, such as model inference host 804 in Figure B, may be deployed at or on the UE for CSI compression, CSI prediction, temporal beam prediction, or spatial beam prediction.

[0133] Figure 9 is an illustrative block diagram of an example ML architecture of first wireless device 902 in communication with second wireless device 904. First wireless device 902 may be configured for CSI compression, CSI prediction, temporal beam prediction, or spatial beam prediction. Similarly, the second wireless device may be configured for CSI compression, CSI prediction, temporal beam prediction, or spatial beam prediction. Note that the example ML architecture of first wireless device 902 may be applied to second wireless device 904, and vice versa.

[0215] As described herein, being “configured to, ” being “configurable to, ” and being “operable to” may be used interchangeably and may be associated with a capability, when executing code (such as processor-executable code, instructions) stored in memory circuitry (such as a non-transitory computer-readable medium, of the memory circuitry, storing code for wireless communication that is executable by a processing system) or otherwise, to perform one or more of the functions described herein.

[0216] As used herein, the term “determine” or “determining” can encompass one or more of a variety of actions. For example, “determining” can include one or more of calculating, computing, processing, deriving, detecting, estimating, looking up, inferring, ascertaining, measuring, resolving, selecting, obtaining, identifying, interpreting, demodulating, decoding, reading, establishing, forming, or generating, among other examples. In some such examples, determining can involve a processing system performing some type of calculating, computing, deriving, estimating, inferring, ascertaining, resolving, predicting, or other processing to obtain one or more numerical values, sets, elements, or other information or results. In some such examples, determining can involve a processing system identifying, looking up, investigating or otherwise obtaining some type of value, set, element, or other information or result from a table, data structure, database, or an implementation of memory, such as from a larger set of values, sets, or elements or other information or results. In some such examples, determining can involve a processing system identifying, interpreting, demodulating, decoding, detecting, reading, or otherwise obtaining some type of value, set, element, or other information or result signaled in, for example, a received wireless signal. In some such examples, determining can involve a processing system performing a measurement, such as on a received signal.

[0217] As used herein, the phrase “associated with” is intended to be interpreted in the inclusive sense, unless otherwise explicitly indicated. For example, the phrase “associated with” is not to be construed as a reference to a closed set of conditions, factors, criteria, elements, components, or actions, among other examples. Specifically, unless a phrase refers to “associated with only ‘a, ’ ” or the equivalent in context, whatever it is that is “associated with ‘a, ’ ” may be associated with “a” alone or associated with a combination of “a” and one or more other conditions, factors, criteria, elements, components or actions, among other examples. The phrase “associated with” may be interpreted to mean or be interchanged with “in association with, ” “in accordance with, ” “based on, ” “based at least in part on, ” “as a function of, ” “in response to, ” “responsive to, ” “using, ” “coupled with, ” in communication with, ” “configured with, ” “included with, ” or “in cooperation with, ” as appropriate in the relevant context unless otherwise explicitly indicated. Additionally, the use of such phrases does not indicate that what follows the phrase is the focal point or primary factor associated with the limitation preceding the phrase.

[0218] As used herein, a phrase referring to “at least one of” or “one or more of” a list of items refers to any combination of those items, including single members. For example, “at least one of: a, b, or c” is intended to cover: a, b, c, a-b, a-c, b-c, and a-b-c. Additionally, as used herein, a phrase referring to “a” or “an” element refers to one or more of such elements acting individually or collectively to perform the recited function (s) . Thus, the terms “a, ” “at least one, ” “one or more, ” and “at least one of one or more” may be interchangeable. For instance, for a claim that refers to “a” component performing one or more functions, each of the individual functions may be performed by a single component or by any combination of multiple components, and subsequent reference to a component introduced with the article “a” using the term “the” may refer to any or all of the single or multiple components. Thus, a component introduced with the article “a” may be understood to mean “one or more” components, and referring to “the” component subsequently in the claims may be understood to be equivalent to referring to “at least one of the one or more” components. Additionally, as used herein, a “set” can refer to one or more items, and a “subset” can refer to a whole set or less than the whole set, but not an empty set. Additionally, as used herein, the term “or” is intended to be interpreted in the inclusive sense, such as when referring to a series, and may be used interchangeably with the term “and / or, ” unless otherwise explicitly indicated (for example, if used in conjunction with “either” or “only one of” ) . For example, “a or b” may include a only, b only, or a combination of a and b. Also, as used herein, the phrase “a set” shall be construed as including the possibility of a set with one member. That is, the phrase “a set” shall be construed in the same manner as “one or more. ”

[0219] The disclosure is provided to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to implement the described techniques. Modifications to the disclosure will be apparent to a person having ordinary skill in the art, and the techniques disclosed herein may be applied with other variations without departing from the scope of the disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not limited to the examples and designs described herein but is to be accorded the broadest scope consistent with the principles and novel features disclosed herein.
