[0051] The sensing devices 110 may include various types of devices in different use cases for sensing, and thus may sometimes be referred to as “sensing device” . In some example embodiments, the sensing devices 110 may include but are not limited to network devices (e.g., ng-eNB or gNB or a distributed unit (DU) of an ng-eNB / gNB) , repeaters, network-controlled repeaters (NCRs) , reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) , TRPs, terminal devices (e.g., UE) , and / or any other devices which are equipped with sensing technologies and have communication capabilities. A sensing device 110 may transmit a sensing signal, and / or receive a sensing signal.

[0052] The sensing target 120 may be any object or device to be sensed. In some examples, the sensing target 120 may be a human body indoors or outdoors, UAV, automotive vehicle (at least outdoors) , automated guided vehicle (e.g. in indoor factories) , object creating hazards on roads / railways, with a minimum size dependent on frequency, car, building, animal, Ambient IoT Device A and / or Device B, or Ambient IoT Device 1 and / or Device 2a, which has no measurement capability to obtain a measurement result of a sensing signal, etc. In some examples, the sensing target 120 may have the measurement capability to obtain a measurement result of a sensing signal, for example, a terminal device or other device specific for sensing measurement. Such sensing target 120 may sometimes referred to as a “target device” with a measurement capability. Some examples of the target device with the measurement capability may include mobile phones, enhanced Machine-Type Communication (eMTC) devices, Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) devices, Redcap devices, Ambient IoT Devices C or Ambient IoT Device 2b, and the like.

[0053] In some example embodiments, the sensing target 120 may have a communication capability, and may communicate with one or more sensing devices 110 and / or the network node 130. In some example embodiments, the sensing target 120 with the communication capability may collect the measurement result (s) of the transmitted signal (s) and provide it to the network node 130.

[0054] The signal transmitted for sensing (sometimes referred to as “sensing signal” ) may include any suitable types of signal, including but not limited to, Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) , Channel-State-Information Reference Signal (CSI-RS) , Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) , DeModulation Reference Signal (DMRS) , Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) , Sensing Reference Signal (SSRS) , Dedicated Sensing Reference Signal (DSRS) , communication signal such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal, specific sensing signal (s) , or any other signal.

[0055] A measurement result of a sensing signal may include the intermediate sensing result and / or the final sensing result, such as the target distance, speed, dynamic maps, Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) , Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ) , channel information etc., intermediate results such as point cloud information based on the sensing measurement, preliminary results such as delay spread spectrum, Doppler spectrum, time delay information such as time difference of Arrival (TDOA) , Round Trip time (RTT) , and other information, and / or raw measurements of the signal such as the in-phase / quadrature (I / Q) stream, or the like. The type of the measurement result may be flexibly configured for different use cases.

[0056] A sensing result may include any desired information that can be derived from the measurement result (s) of the sensing signal (s) . As some examples, the sensing result may include a distance of the target, a size of the target, a velocity of the target, a position of the target, a moving direction of the target, a surrounding environment of the target, real-time map, or the like.

[0057] The communications in the communication environment 100 may conform to any suitable standards including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) , Long Term Evolution (LTE) , LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) , New Radio (NR) , Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) , Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) , Machine Type Communication (MTC) and the like. The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation of communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0058] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100.

[0059] In some example embodiments, the communication environment 100 may be a transportation scenario where sensing technologies are needed. To support smart transportation and / or autonomous driving, one or more of the following: network devices, sensing devices (e.g., terminal devices) , and vehicles may be equipped with sensing technologies, to sense the traffic conditions. Accurate sensing results are important to enable the safe and reliable control of the vehicles and to avoid accidents in the environment. One or more of the network devices, sensing devices, and vehicles may transmit signals for sensing certain objects in the environment. One or more of the network devices, sensing devices, and vehicles may collect measurement results of the sensing signals for use in the smart transportation and / or autonomous driving.

[0060] In some example embodiments, the network devices and the sensing devices are in a radio access network (RAN) . The sensing devices may communicate with the network device (s) and / or the network node. The network devices may communicatively connect with a core network (CN) , which may further connect with one or more third-party applications. The third-party applications may include one or more applications which support the smart transportation and / or autonomous driving, such as the map service provider, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) management platform, and the like. In some example embodiments, the vehicles may comprise sensing devices which communicatively connect to the network devices or directly communicate with the third-party applications.

[0061] Some example scenarios with the sensing feature may include UAV detection and tracking, sensing pedestrian, vehicle or obstacle. The various ways of transportation objects (e.g., vehicles, walking people, motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles, and the like) and the dense buildings make the traffic condition complicated. Typically, traffic accidents often happen at the crossroads for example the pedestrians suddenly rush to the road from the invisible place (e.g., behind the high buildings, behind the tall trees) , which cause an urgent need to monitor the real-time road status for all days. Thus, accurate sensing results are needed in order to provide driving warning or assistant driving information timely to the vehicles.

[0062] The focus of channel modelling for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is target detection and / or tracking, to enable the detected and / or tracked object to be distinguished from unintended targets. Sensing mode refers to a manner to perform sensing. FIG. 2 illustrates schematic diagrams of six example sensing modes 201-206 in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that these six sensing modes may be combined based on different scenarios, environments, and service requirements.

[0063] As illustrated in FIG. 2, in Sensing Mode 201, a signal for sensing a sensing target 230 is transmitted by a network node 210 such as TRP and received or measured by the network node 210 itself. The Sensing Mode 201 may also be referred to as network-based mono-static sensing mode, or gNB-based mono-static sensing mode, or TRP-based mono-static sensing mode. In Sensing Mode 202, a signal for sensing the sensing target 230 is transmitted by the network node 210 and received or measured by another network node 212. The Sensing Mode 202 may also be referred to as network-based bi-static sensing mode, or gNB-based bi-static sensing mode, or TRP-based bi-static sensing mode. In Sensing Mode 203, a signal for sensing the sensing target 230 is transmitted by the network node 210 and received or measured by a terminal device 220. The Sensing Mode 203 may also be referred to as network-to-UE-based sensing mode, or gNB-to-UE-based sensing mode, or TRP-to-UE based sensing mode.

[0064] In Sensing Mode 204, a signal for sensing the sensing target 230 is transmitted by the terminal device 220 and received or measured by the network node 210. The Sensing Mode 204 may also be referred to as UE-to-network-based sensing mode, or UE-to-gNB-based sensing mode, or UE-to-TRP-based sensing mode. In Sensing Mode 205, a signal for sensing the sensing target 230 is transmitted by the terminal device 220 and received or measured by the terminal device 220 itself. The Sensing Mode 205 may also be referred to as UE-based mono-static sensing mode. In Sensing Mode 206, a signal for sensing the sensing target 230 is transmitted by the terminal device 220 and received or measured by another terminal device 222. The Sensing Mode 206 may also be referred to as UE-based bi-static sensing mode.

[0065] Frequencies from 0.5 to 52.6 GHz are the primary focus, with the assumption that the modelling approach should scale to 100 GHz. (If significant problems are identified with scaling above 52.6 GHz, the range above 52.6 GHz may be deprioritized) . The measurements include modelling of sensing targets and background environment (including, for example, radar cross-section (RCS) , mobility and clutter / scattering patterns) , and spatial consistency.

[0066] As described above, there is a need to study about interference measurement and management between communication and sensing.

[0067] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for interference management between communication and sensing. In the solution, a resource configuration is transmitted from a network node to a sensing device. The resource configuration indicates a first set of resources for a communication service, a second set of resources for a sensing service, or a third set of first flexible resources for the communication service or the sensing service. The third set of first flexible resources is between the first set of resources and the second set of resources. Based on the resource configuration, the communication service or the sensing service may be performed.

[0068] Through the proposed resource configuration, resources for the communication service and the sensing service can be allocated in a flexible way. The interference between the communication service and the sensing service can be reduced. The effectiveness of the communication service and the sensing service can be improved.

[0069] Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0070] FIG. 3 illustrates a signaling flow 300 for interference management between communication and sensing in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion and without loss of generality, the signaling flow 300 is described with reference to FIG. 1.

[0071] The signaling flow 300 involves a first device 310 and a network node 320. The first device 310 may be an implementation of the sensing node 110 in FIG. 1. The network node 310 may be an implementation of the network node 120 in FIG. 1. The network node 310 may be implemented as a core network device, such as a sensing function device or a LMF (e.g., if the sensing service is related to a positioning service) .

[0072] In some embodiments, the first device 310 involved in the signaling flow 300 may be a RAN network device (e.g., TRP or gNB) configured any sensing device that is configured in a sensing group for a sensing service. The sensing group for the sensing service may include one or more than one sensing devices. Each of the sensing devices may be configured as a transmitting (Tx) sensing device that is configured for transmitting a sensing signal, and / or a receiving (Rx) sensing device that is configured for receiving a sensing signal (which may be transmitted by itself or another sensing device) .

[0073] In operation, the network node 320 transmits (301) , to the first device 310, a resource configuration indicating a first set of resources for a communication service, a second set of resources for a sensing service, or a third set of first flexible resources for the communication service or the sensing service. The third set of first flexible resources is between the first set of resources and the second set of resources. Correspondingly, the first device 310 receives (302) the resource configuration from the network device 120.

[0074] Specifically, in the time domain, the resource configuration may indicate for example, but not limited to, a first set of time resources for the communication service, a second set of time resources for the sensing service, a third set of the first flexible time resources for the communication service or the sensing service, and / or the like. The third set of the first flexible time resources may be between the first set of time resources and the second set of time resources.

[0075] For example, the time resource may include a time slot in a period, which may be used by the first device for Tx and / or Rx of communication data or the sensing signal.

[0076] In particular, the first set of time resources may include at least one downlink time resource for downlink data communication, at least one uplink time resource for uplink data communication, or at least one second flexible time resource for the downlink data communication or the uplink data communication.

[0077] The first device 310 may receive a further configuration of the second set of time resources for the sensing service. The further configuration may indicate a first set of symbols in the second set of time resources for a transmission of a sensing signal. Additionally, the further configuration may indicate a second set of symbols in the second set of time resources for a reception of the sensing signal. In some embodiments, the further configuration may indicate a third set of symbols in the second set of time resources for the reception and / or the transmission of the sensing signal.

[0078] Additionally, the first device 310 may receive, from the network node 320, the further configuration of at least one first time resource in the third set of the first flexible time resources for the communication service, or at least one second time resource in the third set of the first flexible time resources for the sensing service. In some embodiments, the at least one second time resource in the third set of the first flexible time resources may be neighbor to the second set of time resources. Thus, the resources for the communication service and the sensing service may be separated in time domain.

[0079] Specifically, in some embodiments, the further configuration may indicate the third set of the first flexible time resources to be used for the communication service. Alternatively, the further configuration may indicate a part of the third set of the first flexible time resources to be used for the sensing service. For example, the further configuration may further indicate a symbol number and / or a slot number of the at least one second time resource. In this case, the second time resource in the third set of the first flexible time resources neighbor to the first set of time resources may be used for the communication service.

[0080] Moreover, the part of the third set of the first flexible time resources (e.g., the at least one first time resource) to be used for the communication service may include at least one of: a downlink first time resource for downlink data communication, an uplink first time resource for uplink data communication, a flexible first time resource for the downlink data communication and / or the uplink data communication, and / or the like.

[0081] In some embodiments, the network node 320 may transmit, to the first device 310, a bitmap indication including at least one bit corresponding to at least one time resource in the second set of time resource. In this case, the at least one bit may indicate the reception of the sensing signal for the at least one time resource, the transmission of the sensing signal for the at least one time resource, the reception or the transmission of the sensing signal for the at least one time resource, the at least one time resource being reserved and / or the like.

[0082] For example, if a value of a bit is 1, the corresponding resource may be used for Tx of the sensing signal. If a value of a bit is 0 may indicate the corresponding resource may be used for Rx of the sensing signal. Alternatively, two bits may correspond to a resource. In this case, for example, if a value of two bits is 01, the corresponding resource may be used for Tx of the sensing signal; if the value of two bits is 10, the corresponding resource may be used for Rx of the sensing signal; if the value of two bits is 11, the corresponding resource may be reserved.

[0083] In the frequency domain, the resource configuration may indicates at least one of: a first set of frequency resources for the communication service, a second set of frequency resources for the sensing service, a gap frequency resource between the first set of frequency resources and the second set of frequency resources, and / or the like. Additionally, the resource configuration may further indicate a third set of frequency resources for the communication service and / or the sensing service. The third set of frequency resources may include at least one gap frequency resource if both the first set and the second set are configured.

[0084] In this way, the frequency resources for the communication service and the sensing service can be separated.

[0085] In some implementations, the resource configuration may indicate a first transmission configuration indicator (TCI) for the communication service, a second TCI for the sensing service, and / or the like. In this case, the beams for the communication service and the sensing service may be different or independent.

[0086] In some embodiments, the first device 310 may transmit , to a further device (referred to as “second device” , for purpose of discussion) , an initial sensing signal including a preamble or information of the sensing service. The second device may be a sensing device, e.g., a gNB or a TRP. Then, the first device 310 may receive, from the second device, feedback information for the initial sensing signal.

[0087] The feedback information may include an identification of the second device, a bitmap indication including at least one bit indicating whether a time resource or frequency resource is available for a further sensing signal transmission or reception.

[0088] In some implementations, the first device 310 may determine sensing channel or time occasion information for the sensing service based on the feedback information. The sensing channel or time occasion information may include time information for a further sensing signal of the sensing service, frequency information for the further sensing signal of the sensing service, a sensing bitmap indication comprising at least one bit corresponding to at least one sensing resource, a sensing mode for the sensing service, and / or the like. Then, the first device 310 may transmit the sensing channel or time occasion information to at least one of the second device or the network node 320.

[0089] In this way, the transmission and / or reception of the communication signal and the sensing signal can be performed separately. The resources for the communication service and the sensing service can be distinguished based on the resource configuration in a flexible and efficient way. Thus, the interference between the communication service and the sensing service may be reduced.

[0090] Examples of the resource configuration will be described with respect to FIG. S4 to 11. Reference is made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a schematic diagram 400 of examples of resources for communication and sensing in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0091] As illustrated, there may be three type of resources, including communication resource, flexible resource, and sensing resource. The flexible resource may be used for the communication service or the sensing service. Superficially, the flexible resource may be indicated to be used for Tx or Rx of the communication signal and / or the sensing signal. For example, the resource 401 may be a communication resource. The resource 402 may be a flexible resource. The resource 403 may be a sensing signal. As illustrated, the flexible resource may be between the communication resource and the sensing resource.

[0092] The flexible resources may be configured by a further configuration. In this case, the flexible resources may include resources for the communication service and / or the sensing service.

[0093] In the example of FIG. 4, the resource configuration for the three sets may be common for a group of sensing nodes, including multiple TRP-based sensing nodes. Alternatively, the resource configuration for the three sets may be different for each sensing device, e.g., for each TRP-based sensing node. In addition, the further configuration for the third sets may be different for each sensing device. The period of the time resources represented by P may be, for example, but not limited to, 10 milliseconds (ms) , 20ms, and / or the like. Additionally, the period may be determined by (or same with) that configured / required in the first / highest level.

[0094] L may represent the number of time slots of communication resources associated with a reference subcarrier spacing (SCS) in the period. M may represent the number of time slots of flexible resources associated with a reference SCS in the period. N may represent the number of time slots in the period of sensing resources associated with a reference SCS. The reference SCS for L, M, and N may be the same. Additionally, the number of time slots within the period of P with the reference SCS (denoted as Sp) may be equal to a sum of L, M, and N. In some embodiments, the reference SCS for resource allocation may be different with the applied one for communication service or sensing service, and the applied or used SCS for each resource may be different.

[0095] The flexible resource may be configured according to a service requirement. Additionally, the resource configuration may be required by the SF / LMF. In some implementations, if the communication service is busier than the sensing service, more communication resources may be configured within the flexible resources. Alternatively, if the sensing service is busier than the communication service, more sensing resources may configured within the flexible resources. In this way, the time domain resources of the communication service and the sensing service may be configured in an efficient way.

[0096] Reference is made to FIG. 5, which illustrates a schematic diagram 500 of examples of resources for communication and sensing in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 5, two periods (denoted as P1 and P2) may be configured by the resource configuration. L1 and L2 may represent the number of time slots of communication resources in the two periods respectively. M1 and M2 may represent the number of time slots of flexible resources in the two periods respectively. N1 and N2 may represent the number of time slots of sensing resources in the two periods respectively.

[0097] As illustrated, the resources 501 and 506 may be communication resources. The resource 502 and 504 may be flexible resources. The resources 503 and 505 may be sensing resources.

[0098] Thus, the time domain resources of the communication service and the sensing service may be configured in a flexible way.

[0099] Reference is made to FIG. 6, which illustrates a schematic diagram 600 of examples of time domain resources for communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As illustrated, for communication with UE, the downlink (DL) communication resource, uplink (UL) communication resources, and flexible communication resources may be configured within the L communication resources configured in the period, for example, the L communication resources shown in FIG. 4, or L1 and L2 communication resources shown in FIG. 5. The communication resources may include DL communication slots (e.g., the slot 601) , flexible communication slots (e.g., the slot 602) , and UL communication slots (e.g., the slot 603) . For example, the flexible communication slots may be configured based on a further configuration. In this case, the flexible communication slots may include DL slots and UL slots. In some embodiments, if two periods are configured, then two independent configurations may be used to indicate the DL resources, UL resources and / or flexible resource for communication resources in each period respectively.

[0100] In the example of FIG. 6, dslot may represent the number of the DL communication slots, and uslot may represent the number of the UL communication slots.

[0101] Additionally, there may be dsym DL communication symbols (e.g., the symbol 611) , flexible communication symbols (e.g., the symbol 612) , and usym UL communication symbols (e.g., the symbol 613) . Additionally, dsym may represent the number of the DL communication symbols, and usym may represent the number of the UL communication symbols.

[0102] As such, the resources for UL and DL may be separated in a flexible way.

[0103] Reference is made to FIG. 7, which illustrates a schematic diagram 700 of examples of time domain first flexible resources in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As illustrated, M flexible resources may include communication resources (e.g., the resource 703) and {sslot and ssym} sensing resources (e.g., the resource 702) . For example, based on a further configuration, the flexible resources may be configured as the communication resources and sensing resources in FIG. 7.

[0104] The resource 701, which is neighbor to the sslot sensing resources, may include communication symbols (e.g., the resource 711) and ssym sensing symbols (e.g., the resource 712) .

[0105] In some embodiments, the number of slots and / or symbols of sensing resources may be indicated in a further configuration. sslot may represent the number of the last slots configured as sensing resources according to sensing requirement. ssym may represent the number of symbols before the first sensing slots configured as sensing resources.

[0106] For the examples of FIGS. 5 to 7, as illustrated, a slot configuration period of P ms may include slots with SCS configuration μref. From the S slots, the first L (e.g., L1) slots may include only communication resources, and a last N (e.g., N1) slots may include only sensing resources, the remaining resources can be configured according to sensing requirement and communication requirement.

[0107] From the L communication slots, a first dslots slots may include only downlink symbols and a last uslots slots may include only uplink symbols for communication. The dsym symbols after the first dslots slots may be downlink symbols. The usym symbols before the last uslots slots may be uplink symbols. The remaining symbols may be flexible symbols, wherein means the number of symbols in a slot.

[0108] In this case, the remaining flexible symbols for communication may be re-configured (e.g., based on a further configuration) as DL communication slots / symbols or UL communication slots / symbols.

[0109] Specifically, for the resources further configured as sensing resource in the third set of flexible resources, for example, the resource denoted by 702 and 712 in FIG. 7, the sensing transmission direction may be indicated. For example, a sensing resource type indicator may be used to indicate the sensing direction for the symbols in a sensing slots within the further configured sensing resources, in terms of slot. The sensing slot may include, for example, but not limited to, all Tx only symbols, all Rx only symbols, all Tx and Rx symbols, hybrid symbols.

[0110] Specifically, if the sensing slot include all Tx only symbols, the symbols in the sensing slot may be used for transmitting the sensing signal. If the sensing slot include all Rx only symbols, the symbols in the sensing slot may be used for receiving the sensing signal. If the sensing slot include all Tx and Rx symbols, the symbols in the sensing slot may be used for mono-static sensing only. In this case, the detail time duration for Tx, Rx, a gap or overlap between Tx and Rx, or discontinues Tx and Rx time duration may be determined by the sensing node or determined according to the sensing requirements on performance. If the sensing slot include hybrid symbols, the symbols in the sensing slot may be used for transmitting or receiving the sensing signal according to the number of Tx only symbols, Rx only symbols, and Tx and Rx symbols.

[0111] In this way, the resources in time domain may be configured for the communication service and the sensing service in a flexible and efficient way. The interference between the communication service and the sensing service may be reduced. The efficiency and effectiveness of the communication service and the sensing service are improved.

[0112] Reference is made to FIG. 8, which illustrates a schematic diagram 800 of examples of time domain communication symbols in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIG. 8, the symbol 801 may be a Tx only symbol. The symbols in the slot of the symbol 801 may be all Tx only symbols. The symbol 802 may be a Rx only symbol. The symbols in the slot of the symbol 802 may be all Rx only symbols. The symbol 803 may be a Tx and Rx symbol. The symbols in the slot of the symbol 801 may be all Tx and Rx symbols.

[0113] The symbol 804 may be a Tx only symbol, the symbol 805 may be a Tx and Rx symbol, and the symbol 806 may be a Rx only symbol. The symbols in the slot of the symbol 804 may be hybrid symbols. In this case, hybrid direction may be indicated based on length of symbols for Tx (e.g., NTX) only, Tx&Rx (e.g., NTRX) , and Rx (e.g., NRX) only. In some embodiments, NTRX may not be indicated directly in the further configuration, and it may be implicitly determined or configured via NTX, NRX and number of symbols in a slot. In some embodiments, a position of the Tx&Rx symbols (e.g., the symbol 805) and a position of the Rx only symbols (e.g., the symbol 806) may be exchanged to each other.

[0114] Alternatively, The Tx and Rx symbols may include flexible symbols. In this case, the flexible symbols may be used as Tx symbols and / or Rx symbols.

[0115] Reference is made to FIGS. 9A to 9D, which illustrates schematic diagrams 900A, 900B, 900C, and 900D of examples of time domain communication symbols for both transmission and reception in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example of FIGS. 9A to 9D the sensing node may be in a mono-static sensing mode.

[0116] As illustrated in FIG. 9A, the symbols associated with the dotted line may be used as Tx symbols (e.g., the symbol 901) , and the symbols associated with the solid line may be used as Rx symbols (e.g., the symbol 902) . The Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may be consecutive without overlapping.

[0117] In FIG. 9B, the symbols associated with the dotted line may be overlapped with the symbols associated with the solid line. In this case, the overlapped symbols may be used as Tx and Rx symbols (e.g., the symbol 904) . Additionally, the symbol 903 associated with the dotted line may be used as a Tx symbol, and the symbol 905 associated with the solid line may be used as a Rx symbol. The Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may be consecutive. In some embodiments, the Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may overlap.

[0118] In the example of FIG. 9C, the Tx symbol (e.g., the symbol 906) and the Rx symbol (e.g., the symbol 907) may alternate in the slot. The Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may not be consecutive. In some embodiments, the Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may not overlap.

[0119] As illustrated in FIG. 9D, the Tx symbol (e.g., the symbol 908) and the Rx symbol (e.g., the symbol 909) may alternate in the slot, and the symbols associated with the dotted line may be overlapped with the symbols associated with the solid line. Specifically, for example, a part of the symbol 908 may be a Tx and Rx symbol and the rest part of the symbol 908 may be a Tx symbol. In some embodiments, the Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may overlap. The Tx symbols and the Rx symbols may not be consecutive.

[0120] In this way, the sensing direction for the sensing resources may be indicated in a flexible and efficient way.

[0121] For a sensing resource not including a whole slot, for example, a part of a time slot for the sensing service, the sensing direction for the sensing resource may be only applicable for the latter part of the time slot (e.g., the part of the time slot for the sensing service) .

[0122] In some implementations, a bitmap may be used to indicate direction for each symbol of a sensing slot, including the symbol before the first whole sensing slot. The bit length of the bitmap may be, for example, but not limited to, 14 or 28.

[0123] In some embodiments, for a bitmap with a bit length equal to 14, the bit may be used to indicate Tx or Rx for the symbol. In this case, the Tx and Rx symbols may not be applicable. For example, if a value of a bit is 0, the symbol corresponding to the bit may be a Tx only direction. If a value of a bit is 1, the symbol corresponding to the bit may be a Rx only direction. In some embodiments, for the sensing slot only include the last ssym sensing symbols, and only the last ssym bits may be valid if the bit length for the bitmap of the slot which include a part of sensing slots is 14.

[0124] In some implementations, for a bitmap with a bit length equal to 28, the bit may be used to indicate Tx or Rx for the symbol. In this case, two bits may be used. For example, if a value of two bits is 00, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a Tx only direction. If a value of two bits is 01, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a Rx only direction. If a value of two bits is 10, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a Tx and Rx direction for mono-static sensing mode. If a value of two bits is 11, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a gap or reserved symbol.

[0125] Alternatively, if a value of two bits is 10, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a flexible symbol. In this case, the flexible symbol may be re-configured or determined based on the further configuration. In some embodiments, if a value of two bits is 11, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a flexible symbol. If a value of two bits is 10, the symbol corresponding to the two bits may be a Tx and Rx direction for mono-static sensing mode.

[0126] In some embodiments, for the sensing slot only include the last ssym sensing symbols, the bit length for the bitmap of the slot which include a part of sensing slots may be 28, and only the last 2*ssym bits may be valid.

[0127] In some embodiment, the remaining un-configured symbols in the third set of flexible resources may be used as communication resource. Additionally, the whole third set of flexible resources may be used as communication resources if not configured. In some embodiments, the DL, UL, and flexible resources may be further configured for the communication resource in the third set of flexible resources, the configuration may take that for the first set of resources as a reference. In some embodiments, UL direction may be in front of the communication resources in the third set of flexible resources, then flexible resources, and last DL direction.

[0128] For the second set of sensing resources, the sensing direction may be indicate in a way similar to those discussed with respect to the embodiment of FIG. 8 and FIGS. 9A to 9D above. Specifically, the sensing direction may include Tx only resources, Tx&Rx resources, Rx only resources and hybrid. Additionally, a bitmap may be used to indicate the sensing direction of the sensing resources in a similar way as mentioned above for the sensing symbols in the third set of flexible resources.

[0129] In the frequency domain, the frequency resource for the communication service and the sensing service may be associated with the sub-band and a Physical Resource Block Group (PRBG) . For example, the frequency resources may include communication frequency resources, sensing frequency resources, and flexible frequency resources between the communication frequency resource and the sensing frequency resources. Additionally, the flexible frequency resources may be re-configured as communication resource or sensing resource according to the service requirement.

[0130] Reference is made to FIG. 10, which illustrates a schematic diagram 1000 of examples of frequency domain resources in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As illustrated in FIG. 10, the frequency resources from low frequency or high frequency may include NCOM communication frequency resource (e.g., the resource 1001) , the NS sensing frequency resources (e.g., 1003) , and NF flexible frequency resources (e.g., 1002) between the communication frequency resource and the communication frequency resource.

[0131] Reference is made to FIG. 11, which illustrates a schematic diagram 1100 of examples of frequency domain flexible resources in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As illustrated in FIG. 11, the flexible frequency resource may be configured (e.g., based on a further configuration) to include communication frequency resources (e.g., 1101) , sensing frequency resources (1103) , and gap resources (e.g., 1102) . The flexible frequency resource may include the at least one resource as the gap between the resources the communication service and the sensing service.

[0132] The sub band or PRBG may be in terms of N physical resource blocks (PRB) . For example, N may be 4, 8, 16 , 24, 32, 48. The number of sub-bands may be indicated for communication resource, sensing resource respectively. In some embodiments, if gap size is pre-defined, then may be only indicate number of sub-band for one of communication resources and sensing resource to save signaling overhead.

[0133] For indicating the resource type of the frequency resources, the same reference SCS may be used. The resource configuration for the frequency resources of three sets may be common for a group of sensing nodes, including multiple TRP-based sensing nodes.

[0134] Additionally, a gap may be included in the flexible resources. Specifically, the gap may be in terms of M PRBs. For example, M may be 1, 2, 4, and / or the like. In some embodiments, M may be equal to N. The gap may be between the communication resource and sensing resource to avoid interference between communication and sensing.

[0135] In some embodiments, the number of communication frequency resources and sensing frequency resources in terms of K PRBs may be configured within the flexible resources based on the resource configuration according to the requirement. K may be, for example, but not limited to, 1, 2, 4, and / or the like. In some implementations, K may be equal to M. Specifically, the resource configuration within the flexible resources may be different for each sensing node.

[0136] For communication resources, the DL resources, UL resource, or flexible resources may be configured via time division duplexing (TDD) configuration. For sensing resource, a symbol may be configured to be a Tx only symbol, a Rx only symbol, or a Tx and Rx symbol in time domain.

[0137] For space domain resources, communication service and sensing service may be configured with different beams or different transmission / reception direction. Specifically, a beam type of the beam may be involved for the communication service and the sensing service. In some embodiments, the communication service may be configured with conventional beam, and the sensing service may be configured with a narrower beam or a wider beam.

[0138] Specifically, the narrower beam may be used for a sensing target with long distance, or small RCS, or the location of the target may be known with a sufficient accuracy. The wider beam may be used for the sensing target with a short distance, a large RCS, or the location of the sensing target is unknown to the sensing node, or blind sensing detection is applied.

[0139] In some embodiments, a beam pair for the communication service and the sensing service may be chosen to minimum the interference between communication and sensing. Specifically, angles difference between the two beams may be larger than a threshold. In some embodiments, the angle difference is determined to make sure the beam gain difference between the communication main-lobe and the sensing side-lobe may be larger than a first threshold (e.g., P1 dB) , and / or the beam gain difference between the sensing main-lobe and the communication side-lobe may be larger than a second threshold (e.g., P1 dB) . For example, P1 may be -25 dB.

[0140] Before determining the beam pair for communication and sensing simultaneously, interference may be measured and reported between the beam pair, then the beam pair may be chosen based on the measured result. For example, the beam pair with an interference less than a third threshold (e.g., P1 dB) may be chosen as a valid candidate beam pair. For example, P2 may be -25 dB. Specifically, to reduce the overhead of beam pairing measuring, only part beam pairs may be measured, for example, correlation of the two beams in a pair is during [C1, C2] , and / or angle difference between the two beams in a pair is during [A1, A2]. In some embodiments, the same Tx / Rx node for communication and sensing may be used for interference measurement.

[0141] In some implements, the sensing signal and communication signal may be configured to the Rx node. In this case, sensing signal and communication signal may be orthogonal to each other to measure the interference.

[0142] For determination of sensing channel and sensing time occasion. The UE may transmits, the sensing-special detection signals to find sensing available channel / time occasion. Only the sensing node be indicated as a Tx operation transmits the detection signal. Reference is made to FIG. 12, which illustrates a schematic diagram 1200 of an example of a message for a sensing detection signal in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0143] As illustrated in FIG. 12, the message for the sensing detection signal may include a preamble 1201 and information of planned sensing signal 1202 of the sensing detection signal. The preamble may be for sensing operation located at front of the detection signal. The information 1202 may include the planned sensing signal transmission time / channel, the planned sensing signal duration in time domain, bandwidth size in frequency domain, the sensing node ID to transmit sensing signal, the planned sensing mode and the identification of the sensing node which is planned to receive the sensing signal with a bi-static sensing mode, priority of the planned sensing signal, and / or the like.

[0144] Reference is made to FIG. 13, which illustrates a signaling flow 1300 for determination of flexible resources in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The signaling flow 1300 involves a device 1350 (including a SF, a LMF, or a sensing node) , a sensing node 1351, or a sensing node 1352. In some implementations, the sensing detection signal may be associated with the message described in FIG. 12.

[0145] It is to be understood that the sensing node 1351 and the sensing node 1352 mentioned herein are only for the purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. Embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited here. The signaling flow 1300 may involve any suitable number of sensing nodes.

[0146] At 1301 and 1302, the device 1350 may transmit, to the sensing node 1351 and 1352 the sensing requirement for the sensing service.

[0147] Then at 1303, the sensing detection signal may be sent by the sensing node 1351 and / or the sensing node 1352 to other sensing node (Rx node) or communication node, based on the received sensing requirement. The sensing node 1351 and / or the sensing node 1352 may transmit the sensing detection signal. Specifically, the sensing node 1351 and / or the sensing node 1352 may transmit the preamble and the information of a planned sensing signal (e.g., as illustrated in FIG. 12) . That is, the sensing node 1351 and / or the sensing node 1352 are Tx node transmitting the sensing detection signal.

[0148] Additionally, the other sensing node (such as Rx node) or communication node may receive and detect the sensing detection signal, and determine whether the received planned sensing channel / occasion is occupied or busy for itself. The other sensing nodes or communication nodes that received the sensing detection signal may determine whether the planned sensing transmission time / channel is busy due to other sensing signal or communication signal. Then the determined information may be transmitted to the sensing node who transmits the sensing detection signal, for example, the sensing node 1351 and / or the sensing node 1352. The determined information (also referred to as feedback information) may include a bitmap. In particular, the bitmap may be used to indicate whether sub-channel / time occasion is available for the planned sensing signal. For example, if a value of a bit is 1, a sub-channel / time occasion corresponding to the bit may be available. If a value of a bit is 1, a sub-channel / time occasion corresponding to the bit may not be available. For example, if all the bits corresponding to a sub-channel or time occasion is 1, then the sub-channel / time occasion may be available for the planned sensing signal transmission. In particular, the sub-channel / time occasion may be determined based on the planned sensing signal bandwidth in frequency domain, duration length in time domain, respectively, which may be indicated in the sensing information in the sensing detection signal.

[0149] Additionally, the identifier of the reporting sensing node may be reported as part of feedback information. Specifically, for the other sensing node which is planned to receive the planned sensing signal, the sensing mode and / or the identifier of the related sensing node to receive the sensing signal may be reported together.

[0150] Alternatively or in addition, the sensing channel / time occasion detection and determination procedure at 1303 may be trigger by receiving a temporary sensing requirement, or detecting a new possible target via periodic sensing resource / channel / time occasion.

[0151] At 1304 and 1305, the sensing node 1351 and the sensing 1352, may report the detected sensing channel and / or time occasion to the device 1350 as mentioned above. In some embodiments, the sensing node 1351 and / or the sensing node 1352 may determine the sensing channel and / or the time occasion according to the received feedback information from other sensing node or communication node. For example, if the bits corresponding to the same sensing channel / time occasion in all the received bitmaps indicates that the sensing channel / time occasion is idle, the corresponding sub-channel / time occasion may be available. If anyone of the bits corresponding to the same sensing channel / time occasion in all the received bitmaps indicates that the sensing channel / time occasion is busy or unavailable, the corresponding sub-channel / time occasion may be unavailable.

[0152] In some embodiments, furthermore, for each sensing node or communication node who received the sensing detection signal, available sensing channel / time occasion for each sensing mode may be determined and reported to the SF / LMF as a part of the feedback information directly. The bitmaps may be transmitted to the SF / LMF and fused by SF / LMF, then the fused result is shared to the sensing node which transmits the sensing detection signal.

[0153] Subsequently, the device 1350 may determine the sensing channel / time occasion for each active sensing node at 1306. For example, if the planned sensing transmission time / channel is busy due to communication, the corresponding channel / time occasion may not be determined as sensing resource, and the related sensing node may not be chosen as a final sensing node. In some implementations, a bitmap may be used to indicate whether sub-channel / time occasion is busy. For example, if a value of a bit is 0, the corresponding planned sensing transmission time / channel may be busy. If a value of a bit is 1, the corresponding planned sensing transmission time / channel may be idle.

[0154] Then, at 1307 and 1308, the device 1350 may transmit, to the sensing nodes 1351 and 1352, sensing configuration and / or assistance information of the sensing signal.

[0155] At 1309, the sensing nodes 1351 and 1352 may perform sensing signal transmission / reception, and determine sensing measurement of the sensing signal.

[0156] At 1310 and 1311, sensing nodes 1351 and 1352 may report the sensing measurement to the device 1350.

[0157] In this way, the sensing detection signal may be used to determine the available channel / time occasion for the sensing service. The flexibility and efficiency of the sensing service can be improved.

[0158] In some embodiments, a UE may be involved in the network. For example, a sensing node may communicate with the UE via a communication signal, and perform the sensing service by transmitting a sensing signal to a further sensing node. The sensing signal for the further sensing node may be also received by the UE, which may lead to interference between the communication signal and the sensing signal.

[0159] Reference is made to FIG. 14, which illustrates a signaling flow 1400 for interference management between communication and sensing in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion and without loss of generality, the signaling flow 1400 is described with reference to FIG. 1. The signaling flow 1400 involves one or more sensing devices, including a sensing device 142 and a communication device 141. The communication device 141 may be an implementation of the sensing device 110 in FIG. 1. The sensing device 142 may be an implementation of the sensing device 110 in FIG. 1.

[0160] In some embodiments, the communication device 141 may be implemented as a terminal device , e.g., a UE. The sensing device 142 may be implemented as a gNB serving the communication device 141.

[0161] In operation, the network node 142 transmits (1401) , to the communication device 141, configuration information of a sensing signal. Correspondingly, the communication device 141 receives (1402) the configuration information from the sensing device 142. Additionally, in some embodiments, the communication device 141 may transmit, to the sensing device 142, capability information of supporting obtaining the sensing signal from a received signal. In this case, the network node 142 may transmit the configuration information of the sensing signal after receiving the capability information.

[0162] Specifically, the configuration information of the sensing signal may include, for example, but not limited to, a sensing direction, a TCI, precoding information of the sensing signal, a type of a sequence of the sensing signal, resource information indicating resources allocated for the sensing signal, a cyclic prefix of the sensing signal, a reference SCS of the sensing signal, information of the sensing device transmitting the sensing signal, information of the sensing device receiving the sensing signal, a sensing mode corresponding to the sensing signal, and / or the like.

[0163] After transmitting (1401) the configuration information of the sensing signal, the sensing device 142 transmits (1404) the sensing signal to a further sensing device. The communication device 141 may receive a signal including the sensing signal and a communication signal for the communication between the sensing device 142 and the communication device 141.

[0164] Subsequently, the communication device 141 determines (1403) an interference measurement of the sensing signal based on the configuration information. In particular the communication device 141 may obtain the sensing signal from the received signal at the communication device 141 based on the configuration information. Then, The communication device 141 may determine the interference measurement based on the obtained sensing signal.

[0165] The interference measurement may include, for example, but not limited to, a reference signal received power of the sensing signal, a reference signal received quality of the sensing signal, a signal to interference ratio of the sensing signal, a received direction of the sensing signal, a beam index of a beam or a TCI or a precoding matrix receiving the sensing signal, time information of an interference signal associated with the sensing signal, an indication indicating a strength of the sensing signal being lower than a threshold, and / or the like.

[0166] In some embodiments, the time information of the interference signal may include a time delay of the interference signal, an arriving time difference of a communication signal from the sensing device from a first path and a second path, a time duration of the interference signal, and / or the like.

[0167] After determining (1403) the interference measurement, the communication device 141 transmits (1405) an interference report to the sensing device 142. The interference report at least includes the interference measurement. Correspondingly, the sensing device 142 receives (1406) the interference report from the communication device 141.

[0168] In some implementations, the interference report may include measured information of an interference associated with the sensing signal, path information of the interference, information of the obtained sensing signal, and / or the like.

[0169] In this way, the communication device 141 may be able to determine the sensing signal based on the proposed configuration information and report the interference measurement of the sensing signal to the sensing device 142. Thus, the interference between the communication signal and the sensing signal can be determined and reduced. The effectiveness of the communication service and the sensing service can be improved.

[0170] Reference is made to FIG. 15A, which illustrates a schematic diagram 1500 A of an example of sensing scenario in accordance with such some embodiments. The sensing scenario 1500A involves a sensing node 1551, a sensing node 1552, and a UE 1550. The sensing node 1551 may be the Tx sensing devices. The sensing node 1552 may be the Rx sensing devices for the sensing node 1551. The UE 1550 may communicate with the sensing node 1551. Additionally, the sensing node 1551 and the sensing node 1552, may be network devices, e.g., gNBs or TRPs.

[0171] As illustrated, the UE 1550 may receive the communication signal from the sensing node 1551. Additionally, the UE 1550 may receive the sensing signal for the sensing node 1551 reflected or refracted by the sensing target. In this case, the sensing signal may be an interference for the communication signal.

[0172] FIG. 15B illustrates an example signaling flow 1500B for interference management between communication and sensing in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The signaling flow 1500B involves the sensing node 1551, the sensing node 1552, and the UE 1550 in the FIG. 15A.

[0173] In operation, at 1501, the sensing node 1551 may transmit, to the UE 1550, sensing signal information or configuration indication indicating a configuration of the sensing signal. For example, the sensing signal information indicated to the UE 1550 may include information of a sensing direction, a beam, precoding information including a beam index, a beam direction, a beam gain, a beam width, a precoding matrix, a codebook, and or the like. The sensing signal information may include sensing signal sequence including a reference signal (RS) sequence type (e.g., gray-sequence, golden-sequence or m-sequence) , initial value for the sequence, and a RS (scrambled) identification (ID) .

[0174] The sensing signal information may include a sensing signal type, for example, an indication indicating whether the sensing signal is indicated to multiple / agroup of communication devices commonly or a communication device dedicatedly. If the sensing signal is indicated commonly, a list of configuration may be indicated.

[0175] The sensing signal information may include resource configuration of the sensing signal including a sensing signal pattern, for example, a location in frequency domain-start point, a frequency domain offset, a comb size (density) , a time domain-symbol index, a time domain offset, a time domain density.

[0176] The sensing signal information may include the SCS, the cyclic prefix (CP) of the sensing signal, sensing mode of the sensing node 1551, and sensing node information (e.g., sensing node ID of the sensing node 1551, a location of the sensing node 1551, a distance between the sensing node 1551 and the UE 1550) .

[0177] In some implementations, if some information of the sensing signal information is pre-defined, the configuration indicated to the UE 1550 may be omitted.

[0178] Then, at 1502, the sensing node 1551 may share the sensing signal information or configuration with the sensing node 1552. Specifically, the sensing node 1551 may transmit the sensing signal information to the sensing node 1552. Alternatively, the sensing node 1551 may transmit the sensing signal information to the SF / LMF. In this case, the SF / LMF may transmit the sensing signal information to the sensing node 1552. In some implementations, without receiving the sensing signal information from the sensing node 1551, the SF / LMF may transmit the sensing signal information to the sensing node 1552.

[0179] In some embodiments, the sensing node transmitting the sensing signal and the sensing node transmitting the communication signal may not be the same. In this case, the sensing signal information may be shared between the sensing node transmitting the sensing signal, the sensing node transmitting the communication signal, and the UE 1550.

[0180] At 1503, the sensing node 1551 may transmit the sensing signal to the sensing node 1552 for the sensing service. At 1504, the UE 1550 may receive the sensing signal as an interference. At 1505, the sensing node 1551 may transmit a communication signal to the UE 1550 for the communication service. At the perspective of the UE 1550, a signal including the sensing signal and the communication signal may be received.

[0181] It is to be understood that the procedures mentioned herein are only for the purpose of illustration, without suggesting any limitation. Embodiments of the present disclosure are not limited here. The sequence of the procedures at 1503, 1504, and 1505 may be performed in any suitable order.

[0182] At 1506, the sensing node 1552 may determine sensing measurements based on the received sensing signal. At 1507, the UE 1550 may extract the sensing signal from the received signal based on the sensing signal information.

[0183] At 1508, the sensing node 1552 may share the sensing measurements with the sensing node 1551 for the sensing service. At 1509, the UE 1550 may determine the interference measurement according to the extracted sensing signal. Specifically, the interference measurement may include reference signal receiving power (RSRP) , reference signal receiving quality (RSRP) , or signal to interference ratio of the sensing signal, e.g., L1-value or filtered value.

[0184] The interference measurement may include a received direction / received beam index or TCI or precoding matrix of the sensing signal, time information of the received interference signal. The time information may include a time delay, an arriving time difference from (the first path / the strongest path of) the communication signal, a time duration of the interference signal (e.g., the sensing signal) .

[0185] In some implementations, the received sensing signal may be too weak to derive measurements or no sensing signal detected or received. In this case, a predetermined or preconfigured value (e.g., 0, -1, or a negative integer) may be determined.

[0186] If the sensing signal is detected or extracted, the determined information of the sensing signal may be per path or per path group of received sensing signal, or per sensing signal configuration.

[0187] At 1510, the UE 1550 may transmit, to the sensing node 1551, the interference information report including the interference measurements. Additionally, the interference information report may include path or path group information of the interference, the received sensing signal information of the interference, e.g., a RS (scrambled) ID, a resource or resource set ID, a sensing node ID, a RS type, and / or the like. In some implementations, the sensing node 1551 may update the configuration of the sensing signal based on the interference information report to reduce the interference.

[0188] In this way, the interference of the sensing signal to the communication signal may be determined and reduced. The robustness of the communication between the sensing node 1551 and the UE 1550 can be improved.
