The communication connection may include, but is not limited to, Bluetooth, mobile network, Universal Serial Bus (USB), and Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) connections; the embodiments of this disclosure are not limited in this respect. In the embodiments of this disclosure, server 130 and terminal device 110 can achieve signaling interaction through the communication connection between them.

[0034] It should be understood that the structure and function of the various elements in environment 100 are described for illustrative purposes only and do not imply any limitation on the scope of this disclosure.

[0035] The following description will continue with a detailed description of some exemplary embodiments of this disclosure with reference to the accompanying drawings. It should be understood that the pages shown in the drawings are merely examples, and various page designs are possible in practice. The various graphic elements on the page may have different arrangements and different visual representations, one or more elements may be omitted or replaced, and one or more other elements may also be present. The embodiments of this disclosure are not limited in this respect. Furthermore, in the following description, exemplary embodiments will be primarily described with respect to terminal device 110. It should be understood that the actions described with respect to terminal device 110 can also be performed by an application on terminal device 110, or by the application in collaboration with its server (e.g., server 130).

[0036] Figures 2A to 2F illustrate schematic diagrams of example interfaces 200A to 200F for media content editing according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. The example interfaces shown in example interfaces 200A to 200F can be presented on terminal device 110.

[0037] In this document, the media editing applications support at least a first media format. In some embodiments, the media content of the first media format consists of at least still images and video. In some embodiments, the media content of the first media format also includes audio. Such a first media format may sometimes be referred to as a live photo. The media content of a live photo format can be considered as a short video or moving image. The media content of a live photo format may include images and audio within a predetermined time period before and after shooting (e.g., a moment, 1.5 seconds, 3 seconds, etc.). In some examples, in addition to the first media format, the media editing application may also support other media formats, such as video formats, standalone still images, etc. The following mainly describes how to support the editing and export of content in the first media format during the media content editing process.

[0038] In embodiments of this disclosure, if terminal device 110 receives a trigger on the content import control, it receives a selection of at least one media content for editing. Depending on the user selection, the format of the at least one media content being imported can be at least one of a plurality of media formats supported by the media editing application, which can be a first media format and / or other supported media formats. In some embodiments, if terminal device 110 receives a trigger on the content import control, it can present an import page. In some embodiments, the import page includes multiple tabs, each corresponding to a plurality of media formats. As shown in the example interfaces 200A to 200B of FIG2A and 2B, if terminal device 110 detects a trigger on the content import control 211, it can present the import page 200B of FIG2B.

[0039] In some embodiments, interface 200A may also provide prompt information 212 to indicate support for editing the first media format (i.e., live image format), guiding the user to import media content to attempt editing the first media format and media content. In some embodiments, import page 200B includes a video tab 221 corresponding to the second media format, an image tab 222 corresponding to the third media format, and a live image tab 223 corresponding to the first media format. This allows the user to select the format of the media content they wish to import for editing according to format category on the import page. If the user wishes to import live image media content, they can view the set of live images available for import by selecting the live image tab 223.

[0040] In some examples, considering that the live image format media content also includes still images, the media content set corresponding to image label 223 can simultaneously display images in normal format and still images contained in the live image format media content. If a still image contained in the live image format media content is selected and imported via the media content set in image label 222, then the still image imported during subsequent editing is treated as image format media content, rather than live image format media content.

[0041] In some embodiments, terminal device 110 may present a first tag corresponding to a first media format in a predefined style on the import page. In some embodiments, terminal device 110 may determine the predefined style based on the presentation history of the first tag. In some examples, terminal device 110 may present a live image tag 223 corresponding to the first media format in a predefined style. In some examples, when user 140 first enters import page 200B, terminal device 110 may dynamically play live image tag 223 a predetermined number of times (e.g., 2 times, 3 times). In some examples, when application 120 is reinstalled or cache information in application 120 is cleared, and user 140 re-enters import page 200B, terminal device 110 may dynamically play live image tag 223 a predetermined number of times (e.g., 2 times, 3 times).

[0042] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 receives a trigger on a first tag of a first media format among a plurality of tags, it can present a collection of media content in the first media format. As shown in the example interface 200B of FIG2B, if the terminal device 110 detects a trigger on the live image tag 223 of the first media format, it can present a collection of media content 224 of the first media format.

[0043] Furthermore, if terminal device 110 receives a selection of second media content from the media content set, it can receive the second media content in the first media format. As shown in the example interface 200B of FIG2B, terminal device 110 can receive at least one media content in at least one media format via import page 200B. In some examples, if terminal device 110 detects a selection of media content 225 from media content set 224, it can receive media content 225 in the first media format (e.g., a live image).

[0044] In other examples, if terminal device 110 detects a selection of multiple media contents from media content set 224, it can receive multiple media contents of a first media format. Correspondingly, if terminal device 110 detects a trigger on video tag 221 of a second media format, it can receive at least one media content of a second media format (e.g., a video clip). If terminal device 110 detects a trigger on image tag 222 of a third media format, it can receive at least one media content of a third media format (e.g., an image, a live image).

[0045] In embodiments of this disclosure, if the terminal device 110 receives a trigger on the content export control, it receives a selection of a first media format to be exported. In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 receives a trigger on the content export control, it receives a selection of a media format to be exported. As shown in the example interface 200C of FIG2C, if the terminal device 110 receives a trigger on the content export control 232, it can receive the first media format 233 to be exported selected by the user 140. That is, the terminal device 110 exports media content in the first media format, such as a live image. As shown in the example interface 200D of FIG2D, if the terminal device 110 receives a trigger on the content export control 232, it can receive the second media format 242 to be exported selected by the user 140. That is, the terminal device 110 exports media content in the second media format, such as a video.

[0046] In embodiments of this disclosure, terminal device 110 exports a media content draft as first media content in a first media format. The media content draft can be determined based on at least one media content. In some examples, the media content draft can indicate that it was generated after performing an editing operation on at least one media content. That is, terminal device 110 can generate a media content draft based on at least one selected media content. Additionally, the user can also edit the at least one selected media content to generate an edited media content draft. Terminal device 110 can store the media content draft in a draft module of application 120. User 140 can continue some interactive operations based on the media content draft in the draft module included in application 120, such as editing again, publishing, exporting media content in other formats, etc. It is understood that terminal device 110 can export the media content draft stored in the draft module as first media content in a first media format. Terminal device 110 can also export the currently selected at least one media content as media content in a first media format. In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 determines that the selected media format is a first media format, it can export at least one currently selected media content, or a media content draft, as media content in the first media format.

[0047] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 determines that the selected media format is a first media format, it can store the format of the first media content to be exported as the first media format. The first media content consists of at least a first still image and a video, and the first still image is extracted from the first video. In some examples, if the user 140 selects the first media format as the media format for the first media content to be exported (i.e., the user 140 selects to export a live image), the terminal device 110 can export a draft of the media content as media content in the first media format.

[0048] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may also perform editing operations on at least one imported media content, thereby exporting the edited first media content in a media format selected by the user 140. The following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings, further illustrates the export of the edited first media content by the terminal device 110 in a media format selected by the user 140.

[0049] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 receives a selection of at least one media content, it can present an editing interface for editing the at least one media content. Further, the terminal device 110 can determine the edited first media content based on the editing operation on the at least one media content. In some embodiments, the editing interface includes a content export control for exporting the edited first media content.

[0050] In some examples, user 140 may perform editing operations on media content in at least one first media format, such as live images. User 140 may also perform editing operations on media content in at least one second media format, such as video. User 140 may also perform editing operations on media content in at least one third media format, such as images. Additionally, user 140 may also perform editing operations on mixed media content of first, second, and third media formats. These are merely exemplary and are not intended to limit the scope of this disclosure.

[0051] The following description uses the example of performing an editing operation on media content (e.g., a live image) of at least one first media format. As shown in example interfaces 200B to 200C of Figures 2B to 2C, if terminal device 110 receives media content (e.g., a live image) 225 selected by user 140 from media content set 224, it can present editing interface 200C. Terminal device 110 can determine the edited first media content based on the editing operation on media content 225.

[0052] In some embodiments, terminal device 110 may present a first prompt message in an area associated with the content export control in the editing interface. The first prompt message is used to guide the export of media content in a first media format. As shown in the example interface 200C of FIG2C, terminal device 110 may present a prompt message 231 in an area 234 associated with the content export control 232 to guide user 140 to export media content (e.g., live image) in a first media format. In some examples, the prompt message 231 may be presented in a predetermined style, for example, terminal device 110 presents the prompt message 231 in a bubble style.

[0053] In some embodiments, when the media format selected by user 140 is a first media format, terminal device 110 may also present a configuration panel for at least one parameter related to the first media format, wherein the at least one parameter includes at least resolution. As shown in example interface 200E of FIG2E, when user 140 selects to export a live image, terminal device 110 may present a configuration panel 250 related to the live image, including at least a resolution parameter 251. In some examples, configuration panel 250 may also include frame rate parameters, bitrate parameters, etc., related to the first media format.

[0054] Referring to the example interface 200F shown in Figure 2F, the terminal device 110 can present a configuration panel 260 related to the second media format (e.g., the format corresponding to video). In some examples, the configuration panel 260 may include parameters such as resolution parameter 261, frame rate parameter 262, bitrate parameter 263, etc., related to the second media format.

[0055] In some embodiments, terminal device 110 can determine the configured parameter value of at least one parameter via a configuration panel. Then, terminal device 110 can store the first media content to be exported as a first media format based on the configured parameter value of the at least one parameter. As shown in FIG2E, terminal device 110 can store first media content with a resolution of 1080p as a first media format based on the parameter value of the resolution parameter (e.g., 1080p) configured by user 140 in configuration panel 250. In some examples, user 140 can configure the parameter value of the resolution parameter by dragging resolution bar 252.

[0056] Referring to FIG2E, when the terminal device 110 presents the configuration panel 250, it can display a default resolution in the configuration panel 250. In some embodiments, the default resolution can be determined in the following manner: If the terminal device 110 determines that at least one media content includes third media content in a first media format, it can determine the first resolution corresponding to the third media content as the default resolution. It is understood that if the terminal device 110 determines that the media content imported by the user 140 is a live image A, it can determine the resolution of the live image A as the default resolution.

[0057] In other embodiments, the default resolution may also be determined in the following manner. If terminal device 110 determines that at least one media content includes multiple media contents, it may determine a second resolution from multiple resolutions of the multiple media contents as the default resolution, wherein the second resolution is greater than or equal to the resolution of other media contents among the multiple media contents. It is understood that if terminal device 110 determines that the media content imported by user 140 consists of multiple videos and / or multiple live images, it may determine the highest resolution among the multiple videos and / or multiple live images as the default resolution.

[0058] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 determines that the selected media format is a first media format, it can present a second prompt message related to the first media format. The second prompt message indicates an export suggestion for the first media format. As shown in the example interface 200E of FIG2E, if the terminal device 110 determines that the user 140 selects to export a live image, it can present a prompt message 253 indicating an export suggestion for the first media format. For example, "It is recommended that the live image duration not exceed 3 seconds, otherwise, sharing to some platforms may result in format incompatibility."

[0059] In some embodiments, if the terminal device 110 detects that the duration of the first media content exceeds a predetermined duration threshold during export, it presents a third prompt message and a return editing control. The third prompt message indicates that the duration of the first media content exceeds the predetermined duration threshold. In some examples, if the terminal device 110 detects that the duration of the first media content exceeds a predetermined duration (e.g., several seconds) during export, it may present a prompt message to the user 140 indicating that the duration of the first media content exceeds the predetermined duration threshold. Accordingly, in this scenario, the terminal device 110 may also present a return editing control to allow the user 140 to edit the first media content.

[0060] In some embodiments, the first media content exported by the terminal device 110 includes a first still image (also referred to as a cover image). The process of determining the first still image will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0061] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may select an image corresponding to a timestamp from the first media content, based on the timestamp of a first static image of a second media content in a first media format included in at least one media content, and use it as the first static image. In some examples, in a scenario where the user 140 selects to import A media content (e.g., a live image) in a first media format, the terminal device 110 determines the A timestamp corresponding to the A static image included in the A media content based on the A media content. Further, the terminal device 110 selects the image corresponding to the A timestamp from the first media content and uses that image as the first static image of the exported first media content.

[0062] In other examples, in scenarios where user 140 selects to import media content A (e.g., a live image) in a first media format and edits the media content A, terminal device 110 can use image B as the first still image of the first media content if it determines that user 140 has performed an editing operation (e.g., added a sticker) on image B at timestamp B. For example, the first still image may include the sticker added by user 140.

[0063] In other embodiments, where the duration of the first media content does not exceed a predetermined duration, the terminal device 110 can determine a target timestamp based on the duration of the first media content and a predetermined proportion. Accordingly, the terminal device 110 can determine the image of the first media content at the target timestamp as a first static image.

[0064] In some examples, when user 140 imports multiple live images, videos, and / or live images and videos, and the duration of the first media content does not exceed a predetermined duration, terminal device 110 can determine a target timestamp based on the duration and a predetermined ratio, thereby identifying the image of the first media content at the target timestamp as the first static image. For example, terminal device 110 can identify the image corresponding to 1 / 2 of the duration as the first static image.

[0065] In other examples, in scenarios where user 140 imports multiple live images, videos, and / or live images and videos, terminal device 110 may determine the image at a predetermined timestamp of the first video as the first still image if it determines that the duration of the first media content exceeds a predetermined duration. For example, if terminal device 110 determines that the duration of the first media content exceeds a predetermined duration, it may determine the image corresponding to half of a predetermined time period (e.g., 3 seconds) as the first still image.

[0066] In some embodiments, when exporting first media content in a first media format, the terminal device 110 can export a draft media content as first media content in the first media format by calling multiple interfaces corresponding to the first media format. The multiple interfaces are configured to generate at least a portion of the content required by the first media format. The media content in the first media format typically includes three tracks: a video data track (for recording video data), an image data track (for recording still images), and a data file. The data file records the timestamps of the still images in the video. In some examples, the data file may also indicate a temporary file used to record the timestamps of the still images in the video. Furthermore, the media content in the first media format also includes image metadata, which indicates a unique identifier for the still images; and video metadata, which indicates a unique identifier for the video.

[0067] When exporting media content in a first media format, some client interfaces, such as the AVAssetWriter interface, require decoding and encoding processes to generate video. This leads to a longer video generation time, thus degrading the user's video export experience. Other client interfaces, such as the AVAssetExportSession interface, can write metadata into the new media content without performing video decoding and encoding, but they cannot write data files, thus failing to achieve the desired functionality. In the embodiments of this disclosure, a mixed approach using multiple interfaces is adopted to avoid the time-consuming decoding and encoding processes, reducing the overall time required, while still enabling support for live images. The terminal device 110 can export the first media content to be exported as media content in the first media format by calling the interface for writing metadata and metadata tracks into the first media content, and the interface for writing metadata into the first media content. This avoids the time-consuming decoding and encoding processes, thereby reducing the time required to export the first media content.

[0068] In some embodiments, terminal device 110 can generate a data file of a first still image in the first media content by calling a first interface corresponding to the first media format. The data file indicates the timestamp of the first still image in the first video. In some examples, the first interface may indicate an interface for writing metadata and metadata tracks into the first media content, such as the AVAssetWriter interface. Terminal device 110 can call the AVAssetWriter interface to generate the data file of the first still image in the first media content.

[0069] The data file of the first static image generated by terminal device 110 via the AVAssetWriter interface can be represented by the following code:

[0070] In some examples, the metadata in the data file of the first still image also records the timestamp of the first still image in the first video, which can be represented as: {"com.aaa.quicktime.still-image-time":0}.

[0071] Furthermore, terminal device 110 can generate metadata for the first video in the first media content by calling a second interface of the first media format. The metadata for the first video includes video metadata and image metadata for the first still image. In some examples, the second interface may indicate an interface for writing metadata to the first media content, such as the AVAssetExportSession interface. Terminal device 110 can call the AVAssetExportSession interface to generate metadata including video metadata and image metadata.

[0072] In some embodiments, image metadata may include an image identifier for the static image. The image metadata of the first static image generated by terminal device 110 via the AVAssetExportSession interface can be represented by the following code:

[0073] #Record a unique identifier

[0074] In some embodiments, video metadata may include an identifier. The video metadata of the first video generated by terminal device 110 via the AVAssetExportSession interface can be represented by the following code: {"com.aaa.quicktime.content.identifier":" <identifier>"}

[0075] Subsequently, terminal device 110 can export first media content in a first media format based on the data file, metadata, and the video and audio included in the media content draft. In some embodiments, terminal device 110 can copy the data file into the first media content by calling the second interface. Terminal device 110 can also write metadata into the first media content by calling the second interface. Correspondingly, terminal device 110 can also copy the video track data and audio track data included in the first media content to be exported into the first media content by calling the second interface.

[0076] In some examples, terminal device 110 can copy data files to the file corresponding to the first media content by calling the AVAssetExportSession interface. Correspondingly, terminal device 110 can write the metadata corresponding to the image and the metadata corresponding to the video to the file corresponding to the first media content by calling the AVAssetExportSession interface. Then, terminal device 110 can again copy the video track data and audio track data from the original video file to the file corresponding to the first media content by calling the AVAssetExportSession interface.

[0077] Exporting first media content in this way avoids the time-consuming decoding and encoding processes, thereby reducing the time spent exporting first media content in the first media format and improving the user experience of exporting first media content.

[0078] In summary, this disclosure enables users to edit media content in a first media format (e.g., live images). Furthermore, by calling multiple interfaces to export media content drafts as a first media format, the time consumed by decoding and encoding can be avoided, thereby reducing the export of first media content in the first media format and improving the user experience of exporting first media content.
