Abstract
Description
[0001] SHOES AND THE METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SHOES RELATED TO THE CONTACT
[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD
[0003] The present invention relates to the general technical field of clothing and in particular to footwear intended especially for sports or leisure activities, such as skateboarding.
[0004] The invention relates more specifically to a shoe and a method for manufacturing a shoe.
[0005] PREVIOUS TECHNIQUE
[0006] The manufacture of shoes, and in particular athletic shoes, is a complex process that combines artisanal expertise, technological innovation, and cost optimization. Among the many categories of footwear, those designed for skateboarding occupy a special place due to the significant technical demands of the sport and the importance placed on the aesthetic aspect of shoes in urban skateboarding culture. Skateboard shoes must therefore offer an optimal balance between durability, grip, comfort, and style. Shoe durability is crucial, as skateboarders subject their shoes to intense stress during tricks and jumps. The transmission of forces from the board's maneuvers occurs through the shoes, which constantly rub against the board's non-slip surface.
[0007] Popular skateboard shoes are generally made using a vulcanization process. Vulcanization relies on a specific method where the sole, made of uncured rubber, is heated to a high temperature to become more durable. A thin, flat base sole is attached to the upper of the shoe, and then a strip of rubber, called "foxing," is applied across the gap between the sole and the upper to reinforce their bond, while also increasing the shoe's resistance to abrasion. Once assembled, the shoe is placed in a high-temperature oven, which fuses the different parts of the shoe and gives the rubber its final strength. Thanks to this process, popular vulcanized shoes offer good flexibility and grip, which promotes board control. However, this construction has limitations: the cushioning is reduced, which exposes the wearer to more shocks, and the durability of the shoe is limited.
[0008] Indeed, common vulcanized shoe models wear out quickly, particularly the sole, which thins at points of friction, and the foxing, which tears and rips over time. A pair of skateboard shoes rarely lasts more than a few months for someone who skateboards intensively.
[0009] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] The objects assigned to the invention therefore aim to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and to propose a new shoe that combines flexibility, a refined feel, comfort and durability.
[0011] Another object of the invention is to propose a new shoe with simple construction and controlled costs.
[0012] Another object of the invention aims to provide a new shoe offering good protection for the feet.
[0013] Another object of the invention aims to offer a new shoe with an original and attractive appearance.
[0014] Another objective of the invention is to offer a new shoe that is easily repairable.
[0015] Another object of the invention is to provide a new shoe that is easy to put on. Another object of the invention is to provide a new shoe that makes it easier to perform all skateboarding tricks.
[0016] Another object of the invention is to propose a new method of manufacturing a shoe that is fast and cheap.
[0017] The objects assigned to the invention are reached with the aid of a shoe comprising: an outsole, intended to be in contact with the ground, formed at least of a base and a side wall rising peripherally from said base, - an upper intended to enclose the foot, placed in said outsole so as to be surrounded on a lower part by said side wall,
[0018] - at least one first flexible strip glued to both said outsole and said upper, so as to cover at least the joint between said outsole and said upper, said first flexible strip being glued to both said outsole and said upper by means of a thermoreversible glue so as to be able to be peeled off by a thermomechanical process.
[0019] The objects assigned to the invention are also achieved using a method for manufacturing a shoe comprising at least:
[0020] - a step involving the provision of at least:
[0021] o an outer sole, intended to be in contact with the ground, consisting of at least a base and a side wall rising peripherally from said base,
[0022] o a stem designed to envelop the foot,
[0023] o a first flexible band,
[0024] - a step of placing said upper in said outsole so that said upper is surrounded on its lower part by said side wall,
[0025] - a step of gluing said first flexible strip onto said outsole and onto said upper, so as to cover at least the joint between said outsole and said upper, said gluing step being carried out using a thermoreversible glue.

[0032] The invention relates to a shoe 1, that is to say an article intended to cover and protect the foot. Preferably, said shoe 1 is designed for the practice of sports, and in particular urban sliding sports such as skateboarding (also called skateboarding), BMX or scootering.
[0033] According to the invention, the shoe 1 comprises an outsole 2 designed to be in contact with the ground. Thus, when the shoe 1 is placed on the ground, in its normal configuration of use, as illustrated in particular in Figure 1, the outsole 2 directly touches the ground. Preferably, the outsole 2 contains, or is made of, rubber (also called "rubber"), for example, synthetic, recycled, or natural rubber. The outsole 2 may also contain, or be made of, leather or a plastic material such as polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, or ethylene-vinyl acetate. Preferably, the outsole is made of a material that provides good grip on a skateboard.
[0034] According to the invention, said outsole 2 is formed at least of a base 3 and a side wall 4 extending peripherally from said base 3 (as illustrated, for example, in Figure 1), intended to facilitate the assembly of said shoe 1 and, in particular, to provide a bonding surface around the entire circumference of said outsole 2 for said first flexible band 6 described below. In other words, said outsole 2 has at least one cavity delimited on its lower part by said base 3 and on its lateral part by said side wall 4, the latter being erected around the perimeter of said base 3. Said outsole 2 has, for example, a general cup-like shape. Preferably, a section of said outsole 2 passing through said base 3 and said side wall 4 has a U-shape.Preferably, said side wall 4 comprises a first portion 7 and a second portion 8 that is taller than the first portion 7 (as illustrated, for example, in Figure 1). In other words, said side wall 4 comprises at least a first and a second portion 7, 8, each having a first and a second height, respectively, the second height being substantially greater than the first height. This taller second height allows, in particular, for the reinforcement of a selected area of said shoe 1 and facilitates the bonding of said first flexible strip 6 described below. Preferably, said first and second portions 7, 8 form the entirety of said side wall 4, that is to say, each point of said side wall 4 belongs to the first portion 7 or to the second portion 8.
[0035] Preferably, said shoe 1 has a front end 10 intended to be opposite the toes and a rear end 21 intended to be opposite the heel. Preferably, said second portion 8 extends at least partially over said front end 10, thus reinforcing said shoe 1 at said front end 10 and facilitating the bonding of said first flexible band 6 described below. Preferably, said front end 10 is formed (at least partially) by said second portion 8.
[0036] Preferably, said shoe 1 has a medial face 18 and a lateral face 12 corresponding, respectively, when the shoe is worn, to the face oriented towards the other foot and the face turned outwards. Preferably, said second portion 8 extends at least over a part of said lateral and medial faces 12, 18. Preferably, said second portion 8 has a different length on said medial and lateral faces 18, 12 of said shoe 1. Advantageously, said second portion 8 is more extensive on said lateral face 12 than on said medial face 18, which notably allows for reinforcement of said shoe 1 in an area particularly prone to abrasion during skateboarding.
[0037] According to the invention, said shoe 1 comprises an upper 5 intended to cover, at least partially, the top of the foot. Preferably, said upper 5 is designed to enclose the foot, that is to say, the foot is inserted into said upper 5. Said upper 5 can have a very different shape depending on the type of shoe and the desired aesthetic appearance. Preferably, said upper 5 contains, or is made of, leather, microfiber, textile, or plastic material such as ethylene-vinyl acetate. Preferably, said shoe 1 comprises an insole 11 associated with said upper 5. Advantageously, said insole 11 is located inside and at the bottom of said upper 5. Optionally, said insole 11 is attached, for example by gluing or sewing, to a lower part of said upper 5. Preferably, said insole 11 is glued to a front area inside said upper 5.
[0038] Preferably, the upper 5 includes an opening whose edges 13 accommodate a closure device 14 for the shoe 1 (as illustrated in Figures 1, 2, 4, and 5). In other words, the upper 5 includes edges 13 defining an opening, these edges 13 receiving a closure device 14 for closing the shoe 1, particularly when worn so that it remains attached to the foot during walking. Advantageously, the closure device 14 may include laces (as illustrated in Figures 1, 2, 4, and 5), a hook-and-loop fastener, or a zipper. Preferably, the opening is positioned asymmetrically, that is, off-center, on the upper 5. For example, the opening can be positioned so as to be further from the lateral face 12 of the shoe towards the front end 10 than towards the rear end 21, as illustrated in particular in Figure 2.
[0039] According to the invention, the upper 5 is placed within the outsole 2 so that it is partially enclosed on its lower portion by the side wall 4. In other words, the upper 5 is placed on the bottom 3 of the outsole 2 and is partially enclosed by the side wall 4. The upper 5 is thus positioned at the bottom of the cavity (or recess) formed by the outsole 2. The outsole 2 and the upper 5 therefore have a contact surface, preferably consisting at least of the bottom 3 and an inner face 27 of the side wall 4. Viewed from the outside (as illustrated in Figure 1), the edge of the contact surface defines a joint 9 between the upper 5 and the outsole 2. Preferably, the joint 9 encircles the entire shoe 1. Advantageously, the upper 5 is integral with the outsole 2.Preferably, said stem 5 is glued to said outsole 2, and in particular to its bottom 3.
[0040] According to the invention, said shoe 1 comprises at least one first flexible band 6. A band is understood to be a substantially elongated and substantially narrow element. Said first band 6 is flexible, that is to say, it can be bent without breaking or being damaged. Preferably, said first flexible band 6 is made of an elastomeric material, that is to say, a material capable of elastic deformation. Preferably, said first flexible band 6 is made of a material that provides good grip on a skateboard. Advantageously, said first flexible band 6 contains isobutylene / isoprene copolymer, also called "butyl rubber". Preferably, said first flexible band 6 is composed of a material having a Shore A hardness between 55 and 85, preferably between 65 and 75. Preferably, said first flexible band 6 has a thickness between 1 and 3 mm, preferably between 1.3 and 2.2 mm.Preferably, said first flexible strip 6 has a length between 10 and 100 cm, preferably between 10 and 40 cm. Preferably, said first flexible strip 6 has a non-uniform width, preferably between 1 and 10 cm, preferably between 2 and 6 cm. According to the invention, said first flexible strip 6 is glued to both said outsole 2 and said upper 5, so as to cover at least the joint 9 between said outsole 2 and said upper 5. In other words, said first flexible strip 6 is fixed astride said outsole 2 and said upper 5 by means of glue so as to be superimposed on their joint 9. Preferably, said at least one first flexible strip 6 is laminated to said outsole 2 and to said upper 5. Preferably, said at least one first flexible strip 6 covers said joint 9 along its entire length.Preferably, said first flexible band 6 is glued to said lateral wall 4 of said outsole 2, preferably on an outer face 28, opposite said inner face 27 described above, of said lateral wall 4. Preferably, said at least one first flexible band 6 is glued along the entire length of said outer face 28 of said lateral wall 4, thus covering the entire length of said shoe 1. Preferably, outer face 28 is entirely covered by said at least one first flexible band 6. Preferably, said first flexible band 6 conceals said joint 9. Advantageously, said first flexible band 6, thus glued, also allows at least for the bonding, or reinforcement of the bonding, of said outsole 2 with said upper 5.
[0041] Preferably, said outsole 2 comprises a bearing surface 15 intended to be, at least partially, in contact with the ground during walking. Preferably, said bearing surface 15 is opposite said bottom 3. Preferably, said first flexible strip 6 is substantially flush with said bearing surface 15. In other words, said first flexible strip 6 is bonded to said outsole 2 so as to be substantially level with said bearing surface 15. Preferably, said first strip 6 is not bonded to said bearing surface 15. Advantageously, said first flexible strip 6 rises substantially vertically from a lower edge 22 flush with said bearing surface 15, is bonded along the entire height of said side wall 4, covers said joint 9, and extends to an upper edge 23 located on said upper 5.Thus, said support face 15 of said outsole 2 and said first flexible band 6 are contiguous, which allows said shoe 1 to present a continuous area of good grip on a skateboard board.
[0042] Preferably, said first flexible band 6 has at least one portion of a beveled edge, that is to say, an edge cut obliquely in its thickness. Preferably, said portion of the beveled edge extends over the entire edge of said first flexible band 6 except for its lower edge 22. Preferably, said upper edge 23 is beveled.
[0043] Preferably, the upper 5 includes a front portion designed to cover the tops of the toes. Preferably, the first flexible band 6 covers at least partially the front portion (as illustrated in Figures 1, 2, and 5). In other words, the shoe 1 is designed so that the tops of the toes are covered, from the inside to the outside of the shoe 1, by the front portion of the upper 5 and then, at least partially, by the first flexible band 6. The first flexible band 6 thus extends up the upper 5 at least from the joint 9 to the front portion. The first flexible band 6 thus forms a shell that protects the feet and the upper 5 along at least the planes tangent to the joint 9 and the planes tangent to the front portion.Preferably, said first flexible band 6 forms a non-developable surface, that is to say that the shape taken by said first flexible band 6 on said upper 5 and said outsole 2 cannot be flattened without being cut or deformed.
[0044] The first flexible band 6 is bonded to both the outsole 2 and the upper 5 using a thermoreversible adhesive, that is, an adhesive that becomes less sticky depending on the temperature (for example, when heated), so that the first flexible band 6 can be detached from the outsole 2 and the upper 5 by a thermomechanical process. A thermomechanical process is understood to mean a process that simultaneously involves a thermal process (for example, heating) and a mechanical process (for example, a force applied to the first flexible band 6). Thus, the first flexible band 6 can be detached from the outsole 2 and the upper 5, for example, to be replaced by another similar flexible band, particularly when the first flexible band 6 is worn.Preferably, the first flexible band 6 can be detached from the outsole 2 and the upper 5 without damaging them. Detaching the first flexible band 6 is particularly easy, especially since the first flexible band 6 is not positioned between an upper and an outsole, but is placed on top of the upper 5 and the outsole 2.
[0045] Preferably, said first flexible band 6 includes a wear indicator 16 enabling a user, by observing said wear indicator 16, to determine the level of wear of said first flexible band 6. Thus, the user can decide to change said first flexible band 6 before it becomes too damaged, and in particular before it develops a hole, so as to prevent damage to said upper 5 or said outsole 2. Advantageously, said wear indicator 16 is located on an area particularly prone to abrasion of said shoe 1, such as for example on a front segment of the lateral face 12 of said shoe 1. Said wear indicator 16 may consist, for example, of a particular texture of said first flexible band 6 or for example of a pattern deposited on the latter.
[0046] Preferably, said shoe 1 comprises at least one first graspable element 17 intended to be grasped by hand, attached at least to said first flexible band 6. Preferably, said first graspable element 17 is also attached to said upper 5. Advantageously, said first graspable element 17 comprises at least one section situated between said upper 5 and said first flexible band 6. Advantageously, said first graspable element 17 is bonded to said upper 5 and to said first flexible band 6, preferably using the same adhesive as that used to bond said first flexible band 6 to said outsole 2 and to said upper 5. Preferably, said first graspable element 17 is substantially in the shape of a loop, preferably of a size suitable for placing at least one finger in it. Preferably, said first graspable element 17 is made of textile.Preferably, said shoe 1 also includes at least one second grasping element 26 which is preferably substantially identical to the first grasping element 17. Preferably, said first grasping element 17 is located on the lateral face 12 of said shoe 1 and said second grasping element 26 is located on its medial face 18. Preferably, said first and second grasping elements are located towards the rear end 21 of said shoe 1.
[0047] Preferably, said shoe 1 comprises at least one second flexible band 19. Said second flexible band 19 is preferably substantially identical to said first flexible band 6. The preceding description, with respect to said first flexible band 6, therefore preferably applies to said second flexible band 19. Preferably, said second flexible band 19 is covered by said first flexible band 6 at least over a first overlap area 20. In other words, said first flexible band 6 overlaps said second flexible band 19 over at least said first overlap area 20. Preferably, said first overlap area 20 is located on the lateral face 12 of said shoe 1, preferably substantially in the middle of said lateral face 12. Preferably, said second flexible band 19 is covered by said first flexible band 6 at least over a second overlap area 24.Preferably, said second overlap zone 24 is located on the medial face 18 of said shoe 1, preferably substantially in the middle of said medial face 18 (as illustrated in Figure 5). Preferably, said first overlap zone 20, and optionally said second overlap zone 24, is substantially elongated, i.e., it has a length greater than its width. Preferably, the width of said overlap zone 20, and optionally of said second overlap zone, is between 0.5 and 2 cm, preferably substantially equal to 1 cm. Preferably, said joint 9 is covered along part of its length by said first flexible band 6 and along another part of its length by said second flexible band 19. Alternatively, said second flexible band 19 and said first flexible band 6 are disjointed, i.e., they do not have an overlap zone.Preferably, regardless of the existence of the first overlap zone 20 and possibly the second overlap zone, said first flexible band 6 covers said front end 10 of said shoe 1 and said second flexible band 19 covers said rear end 21 of said shoe 1. Optionally, said shoe 1 includes at least one third flexible band 25, preferably identical to said first flexible band 6 except that said third flexible band 25 is bonded, preferably entirely, to said first flexible band 6 or to said second flexible band 19 (as illustrated in particular in Figure 1). Advantageously, said third flexible band 19 is bonded to an area of said shoe 1 particularly subject to abrasion. Optionally, said shoe 1 includes at least one fourth flexible band, preferably identical to said third flexible band 25.Advantageously, said fourth flexible band is also glued to an area of said shoe 1 that is particularly prone to abrasion. The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing a shoe. Of course, the elements common to the various aspects of the invention, mentioned above and below, which have identical designations, are preferably the same, and not distinct or different elements. The preceding description, with respect to said shoe 1, therefore applies to said manufacturing method according to the invention, and vice versa.
[0048] According to the invention, said method for manufacturing a shoe comprises at least one step of supplying at least:
[0049] • an outer sole 2, intended to be in contact with the ground, formed of at least a base 3 and a side wall 4 rising peripherally from said base 3,
[0050] • a stem 5 designed to encircle the foot,
[0051] • a first flexible band 6.
[0052] Preferably, said supply step also provides a second flexible band 19, optionally a third flexible band 25, and optionally a fourth flexible band. Preferably, said supply step also provides a first graspable element 17 and optionally a second graspable element 26. Preferably, said supply step also provides an insole 11.
[0053] According to the invention, the method for manufacturing a shoe also includes at least one step of placing the upper 5 in the outsole 2 such that the upper 5 is surrounded on its lower part by the side wall 4. Preferably, the method for manufacturing a shoe also includes a step of fixing the upper 5 in the outsole 2, thus making the upper 5 and the outsole 2 joined together. Preferably, the method for manufacturing a shoe also includes a step of placing and / or fixing the insole 11 on / in the upper 5, thus joining the upper 5 and the insole 11.
[0054] According to the invention, the method for manufacturing a shoe also includes at least one step of gluing the first flexible band 6 to the outsole 2 and the upper 5, so as to cover at least the joint 9 between the outsole 2 and the upper 5. Preferably, this gluing step is a manual gluing step, that is, carried out by hand by an operator, possibly with the aid of a machine. This gluing step is performed using a thermoreversible adhesive. Optionally, this gluing step of the first flexible band 6 is preceded or followed by a gluing step of the second flexible band 19, and optionally of the third flexible band 25 and the fourth flexible band. Preferably, before this gluing step, the first flexible band 6, and optionally the second, third, and fourth flexible bands 19, 25, are flat.Preferably, said first flexible band 6, and optionally said second, third and fourth flexible bands 19, 25, are deformed during said gluing steps, so as to fit said upper 5 and said outsole 2. Optionally, at least one section of said first graspable element 17, and optionally said second graspable element 26, is placed between said upper 5 and at least one of said flexible bands during one of said gluing steps.
