Abstract
Description
Information processing apparatus and transmission control method
[0001] The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus for transmitting folders and files, and a transmission control method.
[0002] For example, the information processing apparatus disclosed in Patent Document 1 stores content in a folder, and transmits the content stored in the folder to another folder.
[0003] Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2009-064232
[0004] For example, in an information processing apparatus including an operation unit that receives an instruction from a user and a control unit, when transmitting content a stored in folder A to folder B and transmitting content b stored in folder B to folder A, the operation unit receives a transmission file instruction designating the file a to be transmitted and a destination folder instruction designating the destination folder B, outputs the instructions to the control unit, then receives a file transmission instruction for transmitting file a from folder A to folder B and outputs the instruction to the control unit. When the control unit receives the file transmission instruction, it transmits the file a indicated in the transmission file instruction to the folder B indicated in the destination folder instruction. After the transmission of file a is completed, the operation unit receives a transmission file instruction designating the file b to be transmitted and a destination folder instruction designating the destination folder A, outputs the instructions to the control unit, then receives a file transmission instruction for transmitting file b from folder B to folder A and outputs the instruction to the control unit. When the control unit receives the file transmission instruction, it transmits the file b indicated in the transmission file instruction to the folder A indicated in the destination folder instruction.
[0005] In the above case, it is necessary to separately perform transmission of content a stored in folder A to folder B and transmission of content b stored in folder B to folder A, so there is a problem that user convenience is low.
[0006] The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to improve user convenience related to transmission of folders and files.
[0007] An information processing device according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a display unit, an operation unit for receiving instructions from a user, and a control unit, wherein the control unit displays a plurality of folders that are candidates for a source folder on the display unit, and when the operation unit receives a source folder instruction in which the operation unit instructs a folder among the plurality of folders displayed on the display unit to be the source folder, it performs a first process to set the folder instructed by the source folder instruction as the source folder, displays one or more files stored in the set source folder on the display unit, and when the operation unit receives a transmission target designation instruction in which the source folder or a file among the one or more files displayed on the display unit to be the transmission target, it performs a second process to set the folder or file instructed by the transmission target designation instruction as the transmission target, and The display unit displays a plurality of folders that are candidates for the destination folder to which the specified target will be sent. When the operation unit receives a destination folder instruction in which it instructs one of the plurality of folders displayed on the display unit to be the destination folder, a third process is performed to set the folder instructed by the destination folder instruction as the destination folder. After performing the target setting process, which includes the first, second, and third processes, the operation unit determines whether it has received a target setting process instruction instructing it to perform another target setting process, or a transmission execution instruction. If it determines that it has received a target setting process instruction, it performs another target setting process. If it determines that it has received a transmission execution instruction, it performs a batch transmission process to send the target to the destination folder in a batch according to the results instructed in each target setting process.
[0008] A transmission control method according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a control step, the step of displaying a plurality of folders that are candidates for the source folder on a display unit, when the operation unit receives a source folder instruction in which the operation unit instructs a folder among the plurality of folders displayed on the display unit to be the source folder, the first process of setting the folder instructed by the source folder instruction as the source folder, the display unit displays one or more files stored in the set source folder on the display unit, and when the operation unit receives a transmission target designation instruction in which the source folder or a file among the one or more files displayed on the display unit to be the transmission target, the second process of setting the folder or file instructed by the transmission target designation instruction as the transmission target, and the set transmission target is transmitted. The display unit displays multiple folders that are candidates for the destination folder, and when the operation unit receives a destination folder instruction in which it instructs one of the multiple folders displayed on the display unit to be the destination folder, a third process is performed to set the folder instructed by the destination folder instruction as the destination folder. After performing the target setting process including the first process, the second process, and the third process, the operation unit determines whether it has received a target setting process instruction instructing it to perform another target setting process, or a transmission execution instruction. If it determines that it has received a target setting process instruction, it performs another target setting process. If it determines that it has received a transmission execution instruction, it performs a batch transmission process to send the targets to the destination folder in a batch according to the results instructed in each target setting process.
[0009] According to the present invention, the control unit performs target setting processing, which includes a first process of setting a source folder from among multiple folders, a second process of setting the target to be sent from among the source folder and one or more files stored in the source folder, and a third process of setting the destination folder to which the target to be sent will be sent from among multiple folders. After performing the target setting processing, if the control unit receives a target setting processing instruction from the operation unit instructing it to perform new target setting processing, it performs new target setting processing, and if the operation unit receives a transmission execution instruction, it performs batch transmission processing to send the target to the destination folder all at once according to the results instructed in each target setting processing. This makes it possible to send each file stored in a folder or in separate folders to its respective destination folder all at once, thereby improving user convenience when sending folders and files.

[0011] Hereinafter, an information processing system S according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0012] First, the system configuration of the information processing system S according to one embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Figure 1. Figure 1 is a system configuration diagram of the information processing system S according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0013] The information processing system S comprises a file server 5 connected to a LAN (Local Area Network) or the Internet, and a PC (Personal Computer) 1. Although Figure 1 shows three PCs 1, the number of PCs 1 may be other than three. PC 1 is an example of an information processing device within the scope of the claims.
[0014] Next, the electrical configuration of the file server 5 in Figure 1 will be explained with reference to Figure 2. Figure 2 is a functional block diagram showing the electrical configuration of the file server 5 in Figure 1.
[0015] The file server 5 comprises a control unit 50, an operation unit 60, a display unit 65, a storage unit 70, and a communication unit 75. Each of these components is connected to a communication bus 80, and the control unit 50 is capable of sending and receiving data signals via the communication bus 80 to the operation unit 60, the display unit 65, the storage unit 70, and the communication unit 75.
[0016] The operation unit 60 consists of a keyboard, mouse, etc., and receives user instructions based on user operations, and outputs the received instructions to the control unit 50. The display unit 65 consists of an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), etc., and displays various information, etc., under display control by the control unit 50.
[0017] The storage unit 70 is a large-capacity storage device such as an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) or SSD (Solid State Drive), and stores various computer programs, such as various control programs, for realizing the operation of the file server 5. The storage unit 70 also stores the folder names of each folder, the file data and file names of each file, and path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file.
[0018] The communication unit 75 is a communication interface that transmits and receives various types of data with external devices such as PC 1 on the LAN or the Internet.
[0019] The control unit 50 is composed of a processor, RAM (Random Access Memory), ROM (Read Only Memory), and EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory), etc. The processor is, for example, a CPU (Central Processing Unit), an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit), or an MPU (Micro Processing Unit).
[0020] The control unit 50 functions as a control unit 51 through the operation of the processor in accordance with various computer programs stored in the memory unit 70. However, the control unit 51 can also be configured by hardware circuits, rather than by operation of the control unit 50 in accordance with various computer programs. The same applies to each embodiment below unless otherwise specified.
[0021] The control unit 51 is responsible for controlling the operation of the entire file server 5. The control unit 51 is connected to the operation unit 60, display unit 65, storage unit 70, and communication unit 75 via the communication bus 80, and controls each of these units.
[0022] When the control unit 51 receives a request from the control unit 11 of PC1 for path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file (each folder and each file stored in the storage unit 70, and each folder and each file stored in the storage unit 30 of each PC1), it transmits the path information for each folder and each file to the control unit 11 of the requesting PC1.
[0023] Furthermore, when the control unit 51 receives a request to send folders and files from the control unit 11 of PC1, it sends the files to be sent from the source folder to the destination folder, for example, in accordance with the transmission request.
[0024] Next, the electrical configuration of PC1 in Figure 1 will be explained with reference to Figure 3. Figure 3 is a functional block diagram showing the electrical configuration of PC1 in Figure 1.
[0025] PC1 comprises a control unit 10, an operation unit 20, a display unit 25, a storage unit 30, and a communication unit 35. Each of these components is connected to a communication bus 40, and the control unit 10 is capable of sending and receiving data signals via the communication bus 40 with the operation unit 20, the display unit 25, the storage unit 30, and the communication unit 35.
[0026] The operation unit 20 consists of a keyboard, mouse, etc., and receives user instructions based on user operations, and outputs the received instructions to the control unit 10. The display unit 25 consists of an LCD, etc., and displays various information, etc., under display control by the control unit 10.
[0027] The storage unit 30 is a large-capacity storage device such as an HDD or SSD, and stores various computer programs, such as various control programs, for realizing the operation of the PC1. One of the computer programs stored in the storage unit 30 is a transmission control program 31 for the control unit 10 to execute the transmission control process shown in Figure 17. The storage unit 30 also stores the folder names of each folder, the file data and file names of each file, and path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file.
[0028] The communication unit 35 is a communication interface that transmits and receives various types of data with external devices such as a file server 5 and other PCs 1 on the LAN or the Internet.
[0029] The control unit 10 is composed of a processor, RAM, ROM, and EEPROM, etc. The processor is, for example, a CPU, ASIC, or MPU.
[0030] The control unit 10 functions as a control unit 11 through the operation of the processor in accordance with various computer programs, such as the transmission control program 31, stored in the memory unit 30. However, the control unit 11 can also be configured by hardware circuits, rather than by the operation of the control unit 10 in accordance with various computer programs, such as the transmission control program 31. The same applies to each embodiment below unless otherwise specified.
[0031] The control unit 11 is responsible for controlling the operation of the entire PC 1. The control unit 11 is connected to the operation unit 20, display unit 25, storage unit 30, and communication unit 35 via the communication bus 40, and controls each of these units.
[0032] The control unit 11 displays a plurality of folders that are candidates for the source folder on the display unit 25, and when the operation unit 20 receives a source folder instruction in which it instructs one of the plurality of folders displayed on the display unit 25 to be the source folder, it performs a first process to set the folder instructed by the source folder instruction as the source folder. The processes of steps S1 and S2 in Figure 17, which will be described later, are an example of the first process.
[0033] Furthermore, the control unit 11 displays one or more files stored in the designated source folder on the display unit 25, and when the control unit 20 receives a transmission target designation instruction in which the source folder or the operation unit 20 designates one or more files among those displayed on the display unit 25 as the transmission target, it performs a second process to set the folder or file designated by the transmission target designation instruction as the transmission target. The processes in steps S3 and S4 of Figure 17, which will be described later, are an example of the second process.
[0034] Furthermore, the control unit 11 displays a plurality of folders on the display unit 25 that are candidates for the destination folder to which the set transmission target will be sent. When the operation unit 20 receives a destination folder instruction in which it instructs one of the plurality of folders displayed on the display unit 25 to be the destination folder, it performs a third process to set the folder instructed by the destination folder instruction as the destination folder. The process from steps S5 to S9 in Figure 17, which will be described later, is an example of the third process.
[0035] Then, after performing the target setting process, which includes the first process, the second process, and the third process, the control unit 11 determines whether it has received a target setting process instruction from the operation unit 20 instructing it to perform another target setting process, or a transmission execution instruction. The processes in steps S10 and S11 of Figure 17, which will be described later, are an example of the process for making this determination.
[0036] When the control unit 11 determines that it has received the above-mentioned target setting processing instruction, it performs a new target setting processing. The processing from steps S1 to S9, which is transitioned to in step S11 of the steps in Figure 17 described later, is an example of the new target setting processing to be performed.
[0037] When the control unit 11 determines that it has received the above transmission execution instruction, it performs a batch transmission process to send the above transmission targets to the above transmission folder in a batch according to the results instructed in each of the above target setting processes. In this embodiment, the batch transmission process by the control unit 11 is a process in which the control unit 11 requests the control unit 51 of the file server 5 to send the above transmission targets to the above transmission folder in a batch according to the results instructed in each of the above target setting processes, and in this process, it sends a transmission request to the control unit 51 of the file server 5 that includes each set of the above source folder, the above transmission targets, and the above transmission folder. Based on each set included in the transmission request, the control unit 51 sends the above transmission targets to the above transmission folder in a batch. The process in step S12, which is transitioned to in step S11 "Send Execution" in Figure 17 described later, is an example of the above batch transmission process.
[0038] In this embodiment, "transmit" is described as "copy," but it may also be described as "move."
[0039] Next, an example of the transmission control processing performed in the PC1 as an information processing device in Figure 1 will be explained with reference to Figures 4 to 16. Figure 4 is a diagram showing an example of the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and multiple files before transmission control processing in the information processing system S in Figure 1. Figure 5 is a diagram showing an example of the source folder selection screen displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 6 is a diagram showing an example of the transmission target selection screen displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC in Figure 1. Figure 7 is a diagram showing an example of the display screen showing the popup window 25A displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 8 is a diagram showing an example of the destination folder selection screen displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 9 is a diagram showing another example of the display screen showing the popup window 25A displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 10 is a diagram showing yet another example of the display screen showing the popup window 25A displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 11 is a diagram showing another example of the source folder selection screen displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 12 is a diagram showing another example of the transmission target selection screen displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC1 in Figure 1. Figure 13 shows yet another example of the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC in Figure 1. Figure 14 shows yet another example of the destination folder selection screen displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC 1 in Figure 1. Figure 15 shows yet another example of the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC 1 in Figure 1. Figure 16 shows yet another example of the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A displayed on the display unit 25 of the PC 1 in Figure 1.
[0040] In an example of the transmission control process, the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and files before file transmission is as shown in Figure 4, and the storage location of each folder and file is managed based on path information. In the hierarchical structure shown in Figure 4, folder A1 is located at the first level. At the second level, folder A1 stores folders A1-1, A1-2, A1-3 and files a1-1, a1-2, a1-3. At the third level, folder A1-1 stores files a1-1-1, a1-1-2, a1-1-3, folder A1-2 stores files a1-2-1, a1-2-2, a1-2-3, and folder A1-3 stores files a1-3-1, a1-3-2, a1-3-3.
[0041] The control unit 11 sends a request for path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, and obtains path information for each folder and each file corresponding to the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and multiple files shown in Figure 4 from the control unit 51 of the file server 5. Based on the path information for each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, the control unit 11 displays a display screen (hereinafter referred to as the "source folder selection screen") on the display unit 25 that hierarchically displays the folder names of candidate source folders A1, A1-1, A1-2, and A1-3, as shown in Figure 5 as an example.
[0042] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the source folder selection screen to select the folder name A1-1 as the source folder. When the operation unit 20 receives a cursor movement instruction regarding the direction and amount of cursor movement, the control unit 11 moves the cursor on the source folder selection screen based on the cursor movement instruction and displays it on the display unit 25. After the user positions the cursor to the folder name A1-1, the user performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 sets folder A1-1, the folder name at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received, as the source folder, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the folder name of each folder on the source folder selection screen. The confirmation instruction related to the left click when the cursor is positioned to the folder name of the folder is an example of a source folder instruction in the claims.
[0043] Based on the path information of each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, the control unit 11 displays a display screen (hereinafter referred to as the "transmission target selection screen") on the display unit 25, which displays the folder name of the source folder A1-1 that is a candidate for transmission, and the file names of the files a1-1-1, a1-1-2, and a1-1-3 stored in the set source folder A1-1, as shown in Figure 6 as an example. On this transmission target selection screen, the user can select the source folder A1-1, or one or more files from the files a1-1-1, a1-1-2, and a1-1-3 as the transmission target.
[0044] Using the operation unit 20, the user moves a cursor on a transmission target selection screen to align the cursor with the file name of file a1-1-1 to be selected as a transmission target, and then performs a left-click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a determination instruction related to the left-click, the control unit 11 sets, as a transmission target, the file a1-1-1 having the file name at the cursor position when the determination instruction is received, based on the cursor position at the time of receiving the determination instruction, and the display area for the folder name of a folder on the transmission target selection screen and the file name of each file. The determination instruction related to a left-click performed when a cursor is aligned with the folder name of a folder or the file name of a file is an example of a transmission target designation instruction in the claims.
[0045] After selecting the file a1-1-1 as a transmission target, the user performs a right-click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a popup window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 causes the display unit 25 to display a display screen on which a popup window 25A, an example of which is shown in Fig. 7, is displayed based on the popup window display instruction. The popup window 25A includes, as items: an item "destination folder" to be selected when the user selects a destination folder; an item "determine destination" to be selected when the user determines a destination folder; an item "source folder" to be selected when the user selects a source folder; and an item "execute transmission" to be selected when the user executes transmission of a transmission target.
[0046] Using the operation unit 20, the user moves a cursor on the display screen displaying the popup window 25A to align the cursor with the item "destination folder", and then performs a left-click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a determination instruction related to the left-click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "destination folder" at the cursor position when the determination instruction is received, based on the cursor position at the time of receiving the determination instruction and the display area for items such as the item "destination folder" on the display screen.
[0047] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "destination folder", based on the path information of each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, it causes the display unit 25 to display a display screen (hereinafter referred to as "destination folder selection screen") that hierarchically displays the folder names of folders A1, A1-1, A1-2, and A1-3, which are candidate destination folders, an example of which is shown in Fig. 8. However, the control unit 11 grays out the source folder A1-1 and causes the display unit 25 to display the source folder A1-1 in a state where it cannot be selected as the destination folder.
[0048] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the destination folder selection screen to align with the folder name of folder A1-3, and then performs a right-click operation using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a popup window display instruction related to a right-click of a mouse, the control unit 11 specifies folder A1-3 corresponding to the folder name at the cursor position when the popup window display instruction is received, based on the cursor position at the time when the popup window display instruction is received and the display area of the folder name of each folder on the destination folder selection screen, and causes the display unit 25 to display a display screen on which a popup window 25A, another example of which is shown in Fig. 9, is displayed.
[0049] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen displaying the popup window 25A to align with the item "confirm destination", and then performs a left-click operation using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left-click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "confirm destination" at the cursor position when the confirmation instruction is received, based on the cursor position at the time when the confirmation instruction is received and the display area of items such as "confirm destination" on the display screen.
[0050] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Determine Destination," it sets folder A1-3, the folder name at the cursor position at the time the specified pop-up window display instruction was received, as the destination folder. The pop-up window display instruction corresponding to a right click when the cursor is positioned over the folder name and the determination instruction corresponding to a left click when the cursor is positioned over the item "Determine Destination" are examples of destination folder instructions within the scope of the claims.
[0051] The user right-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 displays a screen on the display unit 25 that shows a pop-up window 25A, which is shown in Figure 10 as yet another example, based on the pop-up window display instruction.
[0052] To select a new source folder, the user moves the cursor on the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A using the operation unit 20 to align it with the item "Source Folder," and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Source Folder" at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the item "Source Folder" on the display screen. The confirmation instruction related to the left click when the cursor is aligned with the item "Source Folder" is an example of a target setting processing instruction in the claims.
[0053] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Source Folder," it displays a source folder selection screen on the display unit 25, which hierarchically displays the folder names of candidate source folders A1, A1-1, A1-2, and A1-3, as shown in another example in Figure 11, based on the path information of each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5.
[0054] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the source folder selection screen to select folder A1-3 as the source folder, and then left-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation command related to the left-click, the control unit 11 sets folder A1-3, whose name is at the cursor position at the time the confirmation command was received, as the source folder, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation command was received and the display area of the folder name for each folder on the source folder selection screen.
[0055] Based on the path information of each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, the control unit 11 displays a target selection screen on the display unit 25, which shows the folder name of the source folder A1-3 that is a candidate for transmission, and the file names of files a1-3-1, a1-3-2, and a1-3-3 stored in the set source folder A1-3, as shown in another example in Figure 12.
[0056] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the target selection screen to select file a1-3-3 as the target to be sent, and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 sets file a1-3-3, whose filename is at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received, as the target to be sent, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the folder name and the filenames of each file on the target selection screen.
[0057] After the user selects file a1-3-3 as the target to send, they right-click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 displays a screen on the display unit 25 that shows a pop-up window 25A, which is shown in Figure 13 as yet another example, based on the pop-up window display instruction.
[0058] The user moves the cursor on the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A using the operation unit 20 to align it with the item "Destination Folder," and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 determines, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the item "Destination Folder" on the display screen, that the user has selected the item "Destination Folder" at the cursor position at the time the setting instruction was received.
[0059] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Destination Folder," it displays a destination folder selection screen on the display unit 25, which hierarchically displays the folder names of candidate destination folders A1, A1-1, A1-2, and A1-3, as shown in another example in Figure 14, based on the path information of each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5. However, the control unit 11 grays out the source folder A1-3 and displays the source folder A1-3 on the display unit 25 in a state where it cannot be selected as a destination folder.
[0060] The user moves the cursor on the destination folder selection screen using the operation unit 20 to select the folder name A1-1, and then right-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click of the mouse, the control unit 11 identifies folder A1-1 based on the cursor position at the time the pop-up window display instruction was received and the display area of the folder name of each folder on the destination folder selection screen, and displays a display screen on the display unit 25 showing a pop-up window 25A, which is shown in Figure 15 as yet another example.
[0061] The user moves the cursor on the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A using the operation unit 20 to align it with the item "Determine Destination," and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a decision instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Determine Destination" at the cursor position at the time the decision instruction was received, based on the cursor position at the time the decision instruction was received and the display area of the item "Determine Destination" on the display screen.
[0062] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Determine Destination," it sets folder A1-1, the folder name at the cursor position at the time the specified pop-up window display instruction was received, as the destination folder.
[0063] The user right-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 displays a screen on the display unit 25 that shows a pop-up window 25A, which is shown in Figure 16 as yet another example, based on the pop-up window display instruction.
[0064] To send a file, the user moves the cursor on the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A using the operation unit 20 to the item "Execute Sending," and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Execute Sending" at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the item "Execute Sending" on the display screen. The confirmation instruction related to the left click when the cursor is positioned over the item "Execute Sending" is an example of a send execution instruction in the claims.
[0065] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Execute Sending", it performs a batch sending process to send file a1-1-1 from source folder A1-1 to destination folder A1-3, and to send file a1-3-3 from source folder A1-3 to destination folder A1-1. In this example, the batch sending process by the control unit 11 is a process in which the control unit 11 requests the control unit 51 of the file server 5 to perform the sending of sending file a1-1-1 from source folder A1-1 to destination folder A1-3, and sending of sending file a1-3-3 from source folder A1-3 to destination folder A1-1 in a batch. The control unit 11 sends a sending request to the control unit 51 of the file server 5 that includes each set of source folder A1-1, sending file a1-1-1, and destination folder A1-3, and source folder A1-3, sending file a1-3-3, and destination folder A1-1. The control unit 51 performs the transmission of transmission file a1-1-1 from source folder A1-1 to destination folder A1-3, and the transmission of transmission file a1-3-3 from source folder A1-3 to destination folder A1-1, all at once, based on each set included in the transmission request.
[0066] Next, the processing procedure for the transmission control process performed by the control unit 11 of the PC1 as an information processing device in Figure 1 will be explained with reference to Figure 17. Figure 17 is a flowchart showing the processing procedure for the transmission control process performed by the control unit 11 of the PC1 as an information processing device in Figure 1.
[0067] The control unit 11 sends a request for path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, and obtains path information for each folder and each file corresponding to the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and multiple files shown in Figure 4, for example, from the control unit 51 of the file server 5. Based on the path information for each folder and each file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, the control unit 11 displays a source folder selection screen on the display unit 25, which hierarchically displays the folder names of multiple folders that are candidates for the source folder (step S1).
[0068] The user moves the cursor on the source folder selection screen using the operation unit 20 to position the cursor over the folder name of the folder to be selected as the source folder, and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 sets the folder with the folder name at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received as the source folder, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the folder names of each folder on the source folder selection screen (step S2).
[0069] Based on the path information of each folder and file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, the control unit 11 displays a target selection screen on the display unit 25 that shows the folder name of the source folder and the file names of one or more files stored in the set source folder that are candidates for transmission (step S3).
[0070] The user moves the cursor on the target selection screen using the operation unit 20 to align it with the folder name of the folder or file name of the file to be selected as the target for transmission, and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. However, the user can select a folder as the target for transmission, and can select one or more files. For example, when selecting one or more files as the target for transmission, the user performs a left click using the operation unit 20 with the cursor positioned over the file name of the first file to be selected, and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20 while holding down the Ctrl key on the operation unit 20 with each file to be selected thereafter. Each time the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to a left click, the control unit 11 sets the folder or file with the folder name or file name at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received as the target for transmission, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area for the folder name of the folder and the file names of each file on the target selection screen (step S4).
[0071] After selecting a file to send, the user right-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 displays a display screen with the pop-up window 25A on the display unit 25 based on the pop-up window display instruction (step S5).
[0072] The user moves the cursor on the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A using the operation unit 20 to align it with the item "Destination Folder," and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Destination Folder" at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the item "Destination Folder" on the display screen (step S6).
[0073] When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Destination Folder", it displays a destination folder selection screen on the display unit 25, which hierarchically displays the folder names of multiple candidate folders for the destination folder, based on the path information of each folder and file obtained from the control unit 51 of the file server 5 (step S7).
[0074] The user moves the cursor on the destination folder selection screen using the operation unit 20 to select the folder name of the destination folder, and then right-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 identifies the folder name of the folder at the cursor position at the time the pop-up window display instruction was received, based on the cursor position at the time the pop-up window display instruction was received and the display area of each folder name on the destination folder selection screen, and displays the display screen with the pop-up window 25A on the display unit 25 (step S8).
[0075] The user moves the cursor on the display screen showing the pop-up window 25A using the operation unit 20 to align it with the item "Determine Destination," and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives the confirmation instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Determine Destination" at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the item "Determine Destination" on the display screen. When the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Determine Destination," it sets the folder with the folder name at the cursor position at the time the pop-up window display instruction was received as the destination folder (step S9).
[0076] Between step S3 and step S10, the processing from step S4 to step S9 may be performed once, or it may be repeated multiple times. For example, in the hierarchical structure of Figure 4, the control unit 11 sets folder A1 as the source folder in step S2, and in step S3 displays a target selection screen on the display unit 25, showing the folder name of folder A1-1 and the file names of files a1-1-1, a1-1-2, and a1-1-3 stored in folder A1-1 as candidates for the target to send. In this case, in the first processing from step S4 to step S9, the control unit 11 sets files a1-1-1 and a1-1-2 as targets to send, sets folder A1-3 as the destination folder, and performs the processing in step S10. Furthermore, in the above case, the control unit 11 sets files a1-1-1 and a1-1-2 as the target to be sent and folder A1-3 as the destination folder in the first step S4 to step S9 process, and in the second step S4 to step S9 process, sets file a1-1-3 as the target to be sent and folder A1-2 as the destination folder, and then performs the process in step S10.
[0077] The user right-clicks using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a pop-up window display instruction related to the right-click, the control unit 11 displays a display screen with the pop-up window 25A on the display unit 25 based on the pop-up window display instruction (step S10).
[0078] When a user selects a new source folder, they move the cursor on the display screen showing the popup window 25A using the operation unit 20 to the item "Source Folder," and then left-click using the operation unit 20. Alternatively, when a user selects to execute file transmission, they move the cursor on the display screen showing the popup window 25A using the operation unit 20 to the item "Execute Transmission," and then left-click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to the left-click, the control unit 11 determines whether the user selected the item "Source Folder" or the item "Execute Transmission" based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display areas of the items "Source Folder," "Execute Transmission," etc. on the display screen (step S11).
[0079] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S11 that the user has selected the item "Source Folder" (S11: "Source Folder"), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S1 and displays the source folder selection screen on the display unit 25. Thereafter, the control unit 11 performs each of the processes from step S2 to step S11.
[0080] In the determination process of step S11, the control unit 11 repeatedly performs the processes from step S1 to step S11 until it determines that the user has selected the item "Execute Sending" (S11: "Execute Sending"). For example, the processes from step S1 to step S11 may be performed once, or multiple times, such as twice.
[0081] For example, in the hierarchical structure shown in Figure 4, the control unit 11 performs the first steps S1 to S11 to set folder A1-1 as the source folder, file a1-1-1 stored in folder A1-1 as the target for transmission, and folder A1-3 as the destination folder. Then, performing the second steps S1 to S11 to set folder A1-3 as the source folder, file a1-3-3 stored in folder A1-3 as the target for transmission, and folder A1-1 as the destination folder.
[0082] Furthermore, in the hierarchical structure shown in Figure 4, the control unit 11 performs the first steps S1 to S11 to set folder A1-1 as the source folder, file a1-1-1 stored in folder A1-1 as the target for transmission, and folder A1-3 as the destination folder. Then, performing the second steps S1 to S11 to set folder A1-3 as the source folder, file a1-3-3 stored in folder A1-3 as the target for transmission, and folder A1-2 as the destination folder.
[0083] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S11 that the user has selected the item "Execute Sending" (S11: "Execute Sending"), the control unit 11 performs a batch sending process to send all the items to the destination folder at once, according to the results set each time a process is performed from step S1 to step S11 (step S12).
[0084] For example, in the hierarchical structure of Figure 4, the control unit 11 performs the first steps S1 to S11 to set folder A1-1 as the source folder, file a1-1-1 stored in folder A1-1 as the target for transmission, and folder A1-3 as the destination folder. If, after performing the second steps S1 to S11, it sets folder A1-3 as the source folder, file a1-3-3 stored in folder A1-3 as the target for transmission, and folder A1-1 as the destination folder, then in step S12, it performs the following process: The control unit 11 sends a transmission request to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, including the set of source folder A1-1, transmission file a1-1-1, and destination folder A1-3 set by the first steps S1 to S12, and the set of source folder A1-3, transmission file a1-3-3, and source folder A1-1 set by the second steps S1 to S12. When the control unit 51 receives a transmission request, it performs the transmission of transmission file a1-1-1 from source folder A1-1 to destination folder A1-3, and the transmission of transmission file a1-3-3 from source folder A1-3 to destination folder A1-1, all at once, in accordance with the file transmission request.
[0085] According to the above embodiment, the control unit 11 performs target setting processing, which includes a first process (steps S1 to S2) for setting the source folder from among multiple folders, a second process (steps S3 to S4) for setting the target to be sent from among the source folder and one or more files stored in the source folder, and a third process (steps S5 to S9) for setting the destination folder to which the target to be sent will be sent from among multiple folders. If the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Source Folder" based on the processes in steps S10 and S11 (S11: "Source Folder"), it performs new target setting processing, which includes the first process (steps S1 to S2), the second process (steps S3 to S4), and the third process (steps S5 to S9). On the other hand, if the control unit 11 determines that the user has selected the item "Execute Sending" based on the processes in steps S10 and S11 (S11: "Execute Sending"), it performs batch sending processing to send the target to the destination folder all at once according to the results set for each of the target setting processes up to that point (step S12). This allows users to send files stored in a folder or separate folders to their respective destination folders all at once, improving user convenience when sending folders and files.
[0086] Furthermore, the present invention is not limited to the configuration of the above embodiments, and various modifications are possible.
[0087] For example, in the above embodiment, if the batch transmission process is interrupted after it has started, the control unit 11 may display the progress of the batch transmission process on the display unit 25. For example, if files a1-1-1, a1-1-2, and a1-3-3 are to be transmitted, and file a1-1-1 has been transmitted, but files a1-1-2 and a1-3-3 have not been transmitted, the control unit 11 will obtain the progress of the batch transmission process from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, which states that file a1-1-1 has been transmitted and files a1-1-2 and a1-3-3 have not been transmitted, and will display "Sent: File a1-1-1 Not transmitted: File a1-1-2, File a1-3-3" on the display unit 25. This allows the user to understand which files have been transmitted and which have not been transmitted, thereby improving user convenience.
[0088] Furthermore, in the above embodiment, if the batch transmission process is interrupted after it has started, the control unit 11 may perform a process to return the folder where the transmitted files are stored to the folder it was in before the batch transmission process. For example, suppose folder A1-1 is the source folder, file a1-1-1 stored in folder A1-1 is the transmitted file, folder A1-3 is the destination folder for file a1-1-1, and also, suppose folder A1-3 is the source folder, file a1-3-3 stored in folder A1-3 is the transmitted file, and folder A1-1 is the destination folder for file a1-3-3. Suppose file a1-1-1 has been transmitted, and file a-3-3 has not been transmitted due to the interruption of the batch transmission process. In this case, the control unit 11 requests the control unit 51 of the file server 5 to return the folder where the sent files a1-1-1 are stored to the destination folder A1-1 before the batch transmission process. Upon receiving this request, the control unit 51 performs the process of returning the folder where the sent files a1-1-1 are stored to the destination folder A1-1 before the batch transmission process. In the case of copying, the sent files are stored in two locations: the original storage location and the new storage location. For example, the folder where the sent files are stored is returned to the folder before the batch transmission process by deleting the files stored in the new storage location. In the case of moving, the sent files are stored in one location: the new storage location. For example, the folder where the sent files are stored is returned to the folder before the batch transmission process by moving the files stored in the new storage location back to the original storage location.
[0089] Furthermore, in the above embodiment, if the batch transmission process is interrupted after it has started, the control unit 11 may display on the display unit 25 a first option to leave the folder storing the transmitted items as it was after the interruption of the batch transmission process, and a second option to return it to the folder it was in before the batch transmission process. When the operation unit 20 receives a first option instruction indicating the first option, the control unit 11 may leave the folder storing the transmitted items as it was after the interruption of the batch transmission process. When the operation unit 20 receives a second option instruction indicating the second option, the control unit 11 may return the folder storing the transmitted items to the folder it was in before the batch transmission process.
[0090] Furthermore, if the batch transmission process is interrupted after it has started, the control unit 11 may display a first option on the display unit to retry the transmission of the unsent target messages, and a second option not to retry the transmission of the unsent target messages. If the control unit 20 receives a first option instruction indicating the first option, the control unit 11 may perform a retry process to retry the transmission of the unsent target messages. If the control unit 20 receives a second option instruction indicating the second option, the control unit 11 may refrain from performing the process to retry the transmission of the unsent target messages.
[0091] Regarding the two variations described above, for example, suppose folder A1-1 is the source folder, file a1-1-1 stored in folder A1-1 is the target of transmission, folder A1-3 is the destination folder for file a1-1-1, and folder A1-3 is the source folder, file a1-3-3 stored in folder A1-3 is the target of transmission, and folder A1-1 is the destination folder for file a1-3-3. Suppose file a1-1-1 has already been sent, and file a1-3-3 has not been sent due to an interruption in the batch transmission process. In this case, the control unit 11 obtains the progress status of the batch transmission process from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, which indicates that file a1-1-1 has been sent and file a1-3-3 has not been sent, and displays "Sent file a1-1-1: Options [Keep as sent], Options [Revert to before transmission]" and "Unsent file a1-3-3: Options [Retry], Options [Do not retry]" on the display unit 25.
[0092] When the operation unit 20 receives a decision instruction via a left click when the cursor is positioned over the option [Keep Sent] regarding the already sent file a1-1-1 (an example of a first option instruction that indicates the first option to keep the folder where the sent files are stored as the folder after the batch transmission process was interrupted), the control unit 11 keeps the already sent file a1-1-1 in the source folder A1-3. On the other hand, when the operation unit 20 receives a decision instruction via a left click when the cursor is positioned over the option [Return to Before Sending] (an example of a second option instruction that indicates the second option to return the folder where the sent files are stored as the folder before the batch transmission process), the control unit 11 requests the file server's control unit 51 to return the folder where the already sent file a1-1-1 is stored to the source folder A1-1 before the batch transmission process. Upon receiving this request, the control unit 51 performs the process of returning the folder where the already sent file a1-1-1 is stored to the source folder A1-1 before the batch transmission process. In the case of copying, the sent items will be stored in two locations: the original storage location and the new storage location. For example, deleting the items stored in the new storage location will restore the folder containing the sent items to the folder it was in before the bulk sending process. In the case of moving, the sent items will be stored in one location: the new storage location. For example, moving the items stored in the new storage location back to the original storage location will restore the folder containing the sent items to the folder it was in before the bulk sending process.
[0093] Furthermore, regarding the unsent transmission file a1-3-3, when the control unit 20 receives a decision instruction via a left click when the cursor is positioned on the [Retry] option (an example of a first option instruction indicating the first option to retry sending the unsent transmission target), the control unit 11 requests the control unit 51 of the file server 5 to retry sending the unsent transmission file a1-3-3 from the source folder A1-3 to the destination folder A1-1, and the control unit 51 retrys sending the unsent transmission file a1-3-3 from the source folder A1-3 to the destination folder A1-1. On the other hand, when the operation unit 20 receives a decision instruction via a left click when the cursor is positioned on the [Do not retry] option (an example of a second option instruction indicating the second option to not retry sending the unsent transmission target), the control unit 11 does not retry sending the unsent transmission file a1-3-3 from the source folder A1-3 to the destination folder A1-1.
[0094] Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the user selects one folder as the destination folder to send the files to on the destination folder selection screen, but this is not limited to this, and one or more folders may be selected. For example, if multiple destination folders are specified, the control unit 11 may duplicate the files to be sent and send them to each of the specified destination folders. When selecting one folder as the destination folder, the user moves the cursor on the destination folder selection screen using the operation unit 20 to select the folder name of the folder to be selected as the destination folder, and then left-clicks using the operation unit 20. When selecting two or more folders as destination folders, the user left-clicks using the operation unit 20 with the cursor positioned over the folder name of the first folder to be selected as the destination folder, and then left-clicks using the operation unit 20 while holding down the Ctrl key on the operation unit 20 with the cursor positioned over the folder name of each subsequent folder to be selected as the destination folder. Each time the operation unit 20 receives a confirmation instruction related to a left click, the control unit 11 sets the folder with the folder name at the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received as the destination folder, based on the cursor position at the time the confirmation instruction was received and the display area of the folder name for each folder on the destination folder selection screen.
[0095] Furthermore, in the above embodiment, the control unit 11 may display a transmission order assignment screen on the display unit 25 in which the user assigns the order in which each transmission target is sent from the source folder to the destination folder (hereinafter referred to as "transmission order"). When the operation unit 20 receives a transmission order instruction that specifies the transmission order for each transmission target, the control unit 11 may store the transmission order for each transmission target in the storage unit 30 and transmit each transmission target according to the transmission order stored in the storage unit 30.
[0096] In the above embodiment, we have described a case in which a PC 1 included in the information processing system S performs transmission control processing to send the target to be transmitted from the storage location where the target is currently stored to a new storage location via the control unit 51 of the file server 5. However, the system is not limited to this, and the control unit 11 of the PC 1 alone may perform transmission control processing similar to the transmission control processing shown in Figure 17, where the control unit 11 performs transmission control processing on the contents of the storage unit 30, which stores the folder name of each folder, the file data and file name of each file, and path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file, to send the target to be transmitted from the storage location where the target is currently stored to a new storage location.
[0097] Furthermore, the configurations and processes shown in the above embodiments using Figures 1 to 17, and the configurations and processes shown in the above modifications, are merely embodiments of the present invention and are not intended to limit the present invention to these configurations and processes.
