Abstract
Description
Information processing apparatus and copy control method
[0001] The present invention relates to, for example, an information processing apparatus that copies character strings and graphics in a document to another document, and a copy control method.
[0002] For example, in the information processing apparatus disclosed in Patent Document 1, among installed applications, there is an application for character input. Such an application for character input usually has functions such as copying and pasting as editing functions, and enables copying words, sentences, and the like and pasting them to another location.
[0003] Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2013-73423
[0004] For example, in an information processing apparatus including an operation unit that receives an instruction from a user and a control unit, a character string a in a document of a file A is copied to a position D1 in a document of a file C, and a character string b in a document of a file B is copied to a position D2 in the document of the file C. In this case, for example, the operation unit receives a copy target instruction designating the character string a in the document of the file A from the user, outputs the instruction to the control unit, then receives a copy position instruction designating the position D1 in the document of the file C to which the character string a is to be copied from the user, and outputs the instruction to the control unit. When the control unit receives each of the above instructions, it copies the character string a to the position D1 in the document of the file C. After the copying of the character string a is completed, the operation unit receives a copy target instruction designating the character string b in the document of the file B from the user, outputs the instruction to the control unit, then receives a copy position instruction designating the position D2 in the document of the file C to which the character string b is to be copied from the user, and outputs the instruction to the control unit. When the control unit receives each of the above instructions, it copies the character string b to the position D2 in the document of the file C.
[0005] In the above case, the user has to perform two separate operations: copying character sequence a from file A to location D1 in file C, and copying character sequence b from file B to location D2 in file C. This results in poor user convenience.
[0006] This invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and aims to improve user convenience when copying character sequences and graphics to documents.
[0007] An information processing device according to one aspect of the present invention comprises an operation unit that receives instructions from a user and a control unit that controls the copying of character sequences and figures to a document. When the control unit receives a first instruction from the operation unit specifying each of the multiple character sequences or figures to be copied, it performs a first process to set each of the multiple character sequences or figures specified by the first instruction as a copy target. After performing the first process, when the operation unit receives a second instruction from the operation unit specifying a location in the document to be used as the copy destination for each of the multiple character sequences or figures set by the first process, the control unit performs a second process to copy the multiple character sequences or figures to be copied to the respective locations in the document specified by the second instruction.
[0008] A copy control method according to one aspect of the present invention comprises a control step for controlling the copying of character sequences and figures to a document, wherein the control step, upon receiving a first instruction from an operation unit specifying each of the multiple character sequences or figures to be copied, performs a first process to set each of the multiple character sequences or figures specified by the first instruction as a copy target, and after performing the first process, upon receiving a second instruction from the operation unit specifying a location in the document to be used as the copy destination for each of the multiple character sequences or figures set by the first process, performs a second process to copy the multiple character sequences or figures to be copied to the respective locations in the document specified by the second instruction.
[0009] According to the present invention, users can perform the process of copying multiple character sequences or shapes to their respective locations within a document in a series of operations, thereby reducing the burden on the user and improving user convenience in copying character sequences and shapes to documents.

[0022] When the control unit 51 receives a request from the control unit 11 of PC1 for path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file (each folder and each file stored in the storage unit 70, and each folder and each file stored in the storage unit 30 of each PC1), it transmits the path information for each folder and each file to the control unit 11 of the requesting PC1.
[0023] Furthermore, when the control unit 51 receives a request for data such as documents and graphics from the control unit 11 of PC 1, it sends the document data of the requested file to the control unit 11 of PC 1.
[0024] Furthermore, when the control unit 51 receives a request to save document data etc. of a file, it saves the document data etc. of the file for which the request was received.
[0025] Next, the electrical configuration of PC1 in Figure 1 will be explained with reference to Figure 3. Figure 3 is a functional block diagram showing the electrical configuration of PC1 in Figure 1.
[0026] PC1 comprises a control unit 10, an operation unit 20, a display unit 25, a storage unit 30, and a communication unit 35. Each of these components is connected to a communication bus 40, and the control unit 10 is capable of sending and receiving data signals via the communication bus 40 with the operation unit 20, the display unit 25, the storage unit 30, and the communication unit 35.
[0027] The operation unit 20 consists of a keyboard, mouse, etc., and receives user instructions based on user operations, and outputs the received instructions to the control unit 10. The display unit 25 consists of an LCD, etc., and displays various information, etc., under display control by the control unit 10.
[0028] The storage unit 30 is a large-capacity storage device such as an HDD or SSD, and stores various computer programs, such as various control programs, for realizing the operation of the PC1. The storage unit 30 stores a copy control program 31 as one of the computer programs, which allows the control unit 10 to execute the copy control process shown in Figures 17 to 20. The storage unit 30 also stores the folder name of each folder, the file data and file name of each file, and path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file.
[0029] The communication unit 35 is a communication interface that transmits and receives various types of data with external devices such as a file server 5 and other PCs 1 on the LAN or the Internet.
[0030] The control unit 10 is composed of a processor, RAM, ROM, and EEPROM, etc. The processor is, for example, a CPU, ASIC, or MPU.
[0031] The control unit 10 functions as a control unit 11 through the operation of the processor in accordance with various computer programs, such as the copy control program 31, stored in the memory unit 30. However, the control unit 11 can also be configured by hardware circuits, rather than by the operation of the control unit 10 in accordance with various computer programs, such as the copy control program 31. The same applies to each embodiment below unless otherwise specified.
[0032] The control unit 11 is responsible for controlling the operation of the entire PC 1. The control unit 11 is connected to the operation unit 20, display unit 25, storage unit 30, and communication unit 35 via the communication bus 40, and controls each of these units.
[0033] The control unit 11 controls the copying of character sequences and graphics to the document.
[0034] When the control unit 11 receives a first instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying each of the multiple character sequences or figures to be copied, it performs a first process to set each of the multiple character sequences or figures specified by the first instruction as a copy target. After performing the first process, when the control unit 11 receives a second instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying the location in the document to be used as the copy destination for each of the multiple character sequences or figures set by the first process, it performs a second process to copy each of the multiple character sequences or figures to be copied to the location in the document specified by the second instruction.
[0035] When the control unit 11 receives a first instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying the character sequence or graphic to be copied from a document in one file, the control unit 11 performs the first process of setting the character sequence or graphic specified by the first instruction as the first copy target. After performing the first process, when the control unit 11 receives another first instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying the character sequence or graphic to be copied from a document in another file, the control unit 11 performs the first process of setting the character sequence or graphic specified by the other first instruction as the second copy target.
[0036] The control unit 11 performs a third process in which it displays on the display unit 25 a list of the character sequences or figures set as the first copy targets and the character sequences or figures set as the second copy targets by the first process performed so far.
[0037] After the first and third processes, when the control unit 11 receives a second instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying a location within the document of the first file as the copy destination for the character sequence or graphic displayed in the list as the first copy target, the control unit 11 performs the second process to copy the character sequence or graphic displayed as the first copy target to the location within the document of the first file specified by the second instruction. When the control unit 11 receives another second instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying a location within the document of the first file or a second file other than the first file as the copy destination for the character sequence or graphic displayed in the list as the second copy target, the control unit 11 performs the second process to copy the character sequence or graphic displayed as the second copy target to the location within the document of the first file or the second file specified by the other second instruction.
[0038] In the second process, when the control unit 11 receives another second instruction, which specifies a location in a document of a different file from the first file as a further copy destination for the character sequence or graphic set as the first copy target, or further specifies a location in a document of a different file from the first or second file as a further copy destination for the character sequence or graphic set as the second copy target, the control unit 11 performs the second process to further copy the character sequence or graphic set as the first copy target to the location in a document of a different file from the first file specified by the other second instruction, or performs the second process to further copy the character sequence or graphic set as the second copy target to the location in a document of a different file from the first or second file specified by the other second instruction.
[0039] Next, an example of copy control processing performed in PC1, which is an information processing device as shown in Figure 1, will be explained with reference to Figures 4 to 16. Figure 4 is a diagram showing an example of the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and multiple files in the information processing system S of Figure 1. Figures 5 to 16 are diagrams showing examples of the display screen of the display unit 25 of PC1 in Figure 1.
[0040] In an example of copy control processing, the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and files is as shown in Figure 4, and the storage location of each folder and file is managed based on path information. The hierarchy is ordered from highest to lowest in the order of 1st level, 2nd level, 3rd level, and 4th level.
[0041] In the hierarchical structure shown in Figure 4, the first level contains folders A1 and A2, with folder names a1 and a2, respectively.
[0042] In the second level, folder A1 contains folders A1-1 to A1-3 with folder names a1-1 to a1-3 and files B1-1 to B1-3 with file names b1-1 to b1-3, and folder A2 contains folder A2-1 with folder name a2-1 and files B2-1 to B2-3 with file names b2-1 to b2-3.
[0043] In the third hierarchy, there are a folder A1-1-1 with a folder name a1-1-1 and files B1-1-1 to B1-1-3 with file names b1-1-1 to b1-1-3 stored in folder A1-1, a file B1-2-1 with a file name b1-2-1 stored in folder A1-2, a folder A1-3-1 with a folder name a1-3-1 and files B1-3-1 to B1-3-3 with file names b1-3-1 to b1-3-3 stored in folder A1-3, and files B2-1-1 and B2-1-2 with file names b2-1-1 and b2-1-2 stored in folder A2-1.
[0044] In the fourth hierarchy, there are files B1-1-1-1 to B1-1-1-5 with file names b1-1-1-1 to b1-1-1-5 stored in folder A1-1-1, and files B1-3-1-1 and B1-3-1-2 with file names b1-3-1-1 and b1-3-1-2 stored in folder A1-3-1.
[0045] As an example of the copy control process, the process targets the case where: character strings C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 in the document of file B1-1 are copied to the document of file B1-3; character string C1-1-2 in the document of file B1-1 is copied to the document of file B1-3-1; character string C1-1-1-1 in the document of file B1-1-1 is copied to the document of file B1-3; and character strings C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 in the document of file B1-1-1 are copied to the document of file B1-3-1.
[0046] A user uses the operation unit 20 to issue an instruction to start an application related to the copy control program 31 stored in the storage unit 30. When the operation unit 20 receives the instruction, the control unit 11 starts the application related to the copy control program 31.
[0047] The control unit 11 sends a request for path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, and obtains the path information for each folder and each file corresponding to the hierarchical structure of multiple folders and multiple files shown in Figure 4 from the control unit 51 of the file server 5. Then, based on the path information for each folder and each file obtained above, the control unit 11 displays a folder / file display window 25A for folder A1 on the display unit 25, as shown in Figure 5, which displays folders A1-1 to A1-3 stored in folder A1 using their folder names a1-1 to a1-3 and a graphic representing the folder (hereinafter referred to as "folder graphic"), and files B1-1 to B1-3 using their file names b1-1 to b1-3 and a graphic representing the file format (hereinafter referred to as "file format display graphic"), and also displays the copy target list display window 28A shown in Figure 5 on the display unit 25. The folder / file display window 25A for folder A1 displays information a1 indicating that the currently displayed folder is saved in folder A1, and the folder / file display window 25A for folder A1-1 in Figure 9 displays information a1<a1-1 indicating that the currently displayed folder is saved in folder A1-1, and so on. The folder / file display window 25A also displays a "back" button 26A and a "forward" button 26B to display folder / file display windows for other folders. The file format display graphic is, for example, a graphic indicating that the file is a Word file in the case of a Word file, and a graphic indicating that the file is a PDF file in the case of a PDF file.
[0048] When the operation unit 20 receives a file open instruction to open File B1-1 displayed in the folder-file display window 25A for Folder A1 shown in FIG. 5, the control unit 11 opens the target File B1-1 of the file open instruction, and causes the display unit 25 to display the document of File B1-1 shown in FIG. 6 in the document display window 27A in an editable manner. In this embodiment, the control unit 11 sends a document data request including the file name and path information of File B1-1 to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, the control unit 51 returns a document data response including the document data of File B1-1 in accordance with the content of the document data request, and the control unit 11 causes the display unit 25 to display the document of File B1-1 in the document display window 27A in an editable manner in accordance with the content of the document data response. Similarly, for other files, the control unit 11 acquires the document data of the file from the control unit 51 and causes the display unit 25 to display the document of the file. An example of this is shown below.
[0049] A user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in FIG. 5 and moves the cursor to File B1-1 to be opened in the folder-file display window 25A. When the operation unit 20 receives a cursor movement instruction related to the movement direction and movement amount of the cursor, the control unit 11 moves the cursor on the display screen based on the cursor movement instruction and causes the display unit 25 to display the moved cursor. After positioning the cursor on the display area of File B1-1 to be opened in the folder-file display window 25A, the user performs a left double-click via the operation unit 20. In this embodiment, the display area of a file is the display area for the file name and the file format display graphic. When the operation unit 20 receives the file open instruction related to the left double-click, the control unit 11 opens the target File B1-1 of the file open instruction, and causes the display unit 25 to display the document of File B1-1 shown in FIG. 6 in the document display window 27A in an editable manner.
[0050] When the control unit 11 receives a copy target instruction (an example of "one first instruction" in the claims) from the operation unit 20 specifying character sequences C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 to be copied from the document in file B1-1, the control unit 11 performs a first process to set the character sequences C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 specified by the copy target instruction as copy targets (an example of "first copy targets" in the claims), and then performs a third process to change the display content of the list of copy targets displayed in the copy target list display window 28A on the display unit 25 from the list of copy targets shown in Figure 6 (no copy targets) to the list of copy targets shown in Figure 7, which includes the character sequences C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 that have been set as copy targets. An example of this is shown below.
[0051] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 6 to the beginning of character sequence C1-1-1 in the document of file B1-1 displayed in the document display window 27A. Then, while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of character sequence C1-1-1 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets character sequence C1-1-1, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the copy target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy target. Next, the user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen to the beginning of character sequence C1-1-2 in the document of file B1-1. Then, while holding down the Ctrl key and the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of character sequence C1-1-2 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives the remaining portion of the copy target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the Ctrl key and the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets character sequence C1-1-2, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the remaining portion of the copy target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy target.
[0052] The user presses the left-click button on the operation unit 20 on the display screen shown in Figure 6, and while holding down the left-click button, positions the copy target within the copy target list display window 28A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a list display instruction related to the operation of moving the copy target while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 determines that the position of the copy target at the end of receiving the list display instruction is within the copy target list display window 28A, and instructs the display unit 25 to change the display content of the copy target list shown in the copy target list display window 28A from the copy target list shown in Figure 6 (no copy target) to the copy target list shown in Figure 7, which includes the character sequences C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 that have been set as copy targets.
[0053] Furthermore, if the user selects a graphic in the document display window 27A, the control unit 11 sets the graphic as a copy target, adds the graphic selected by the user to the list of copy targets displayed in the copy target list display window 28A, and displays the copy target list display window 28A with the added content on the display unit 25.
[0054] When the control unit 11 receives a file close command from the operation unit 20 to close file B1-1 displayed in the document display window 27A, it closes file B1-1, the target of the file close command, and displays a screen on the display unit 25 with the document display window 27A hidden, as shown in Figure 8. An example of this is shown below.
[0055] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 7 to the "×" button displayed in the document display window 27A, and then performs a left click using the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a file close instruction related to the left click, the control unit 11 closes the file B1-1 that is the target of the file close instruction and displays the display screen with the document display window 27A hidden, as shown in Figure 8, on the display unit 25.
[0056] When the control unit 11 receives a lower-level display instruction from the operation unit 20 to display folders and files one level below the folder A1-1 shown in the folder / file display window 25A shown in Figure 8, the control unit 11, based on the path information of each folder and file acquired, instructs the display unit 25 to change the display content of the folder / file display window 25A from the folders and files stored in folder A1-1 shown in Figure 8 to the folders and files stored in folder A1-1 shown in Figure 9. An example of this is shown below.
[0057] The user uses the operation unit 20 to position the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 8, aligning it with the display area of folder A1-1 in the folder / file display window 25A, and then performs a left double-click using the operation unit 20. In this embodiment, the display area of the folder is the display area for the folder name and folder graphic. When the operation unit 20 receives a lower-level display instruction related to a left double-click, the control unit 11, based on the path information of each folder and file acquired above, instructs the display unit 25 to change the display content of the folder / file display window 25A from the folders and files stored in folder A1-1 at the cursor position at the time the lower-level display instruction was received, as shown in Figure 8.
[0058] When the control unit 11 receives a file open command from the operation unit 20 to open file B1-1-1, which is displayed in the folder / file display window 25A for folder A1-1 shown in Figure 9, the control unit 11 opens file B1-1-1, which is the target of the file open command, and displays the document of file B1-1-1, as shown in Figure 10, in editable format in the display unit 25 in the document display window 27A.
[0059] When the control unit 11 receives a copy target instruction (an example of "another first instruction" in the claims) from the operation unit 20 specifying character sequences C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 to be copied from the document in file B1-1-1, the control unit 11 performs a first process to set the character sequences C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 specified by the copy target instruction as copy targets (an example of "second copy targets" in the claims), and then performs a third process to change the display content of the copy target list displayed in the copy target list display window 28A on the display unit 25 from the copy target list shown in Figure 10 to the copy target list shown in Figure 11, which includes the character sequences C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 that have been set as copy targets. An example of this is shown below.
[0060] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 10 to the beginning of character sequence C1-1-1-1 in the document of file B1-1-1 displayed in the document display window 27A. Then, while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of character sequence C1-1-1-1 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets character sequence C1-1-1-1, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the copy target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy target. Next, the user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen to the beginning of character sequence C1-1-1-2 in the document of file B1-1-1. Then, while holding down the Ctrl key and the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of character sequence C1-1-1-2 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives the remaining portion of the copy target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the Ctrl key and the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets character sequence C1-1-1-2, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the remaining portion of the copy target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy target.
[0061] The user presses the left-click button on the operation unit 20 on the display screen shown in Figure 10, and while holding down the left-click button, positions the copy target within the copy target list display window 28A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a list display instruction related to the operation of moving the copy target while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 determines that the position of the copy target at the end of receiving the list display instruction is within the copy target list display window 28A, and instructs the display unit 25 to change the display content of the copy target list shown in the copy target list display window 28A from the copy target list shown in Figure 10 to the copy target list shown in Figure 11, which includes the character sequences C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 that have been set as copy targets.
[0062] When the control unit 11 receives a file close command from the operation unit 20 to close file B1-1-1 displayed in the document display window 27A, it closes file B1-1-1, the target of the file close command, and displays a display screen with the document display window 27A hidden, as shown in Figure 12, on the display unit 25.
[0063] The control unit 11, based on the path information of each folder and file acquired above, causes the display unit 25 to change the display content of the folder and file display window 25A from the folders and files stored in folder A1-1 shown in Figure 12 to the folders and files stored in folder A1 shown in Figure 13, based on the path information of each folder and file acquired above. This is done by the control unit 11, which receives display change instructions related to a left click using the operation unit 20 that specifies the "back" button 26A in the folder and file display window 25A that the operation unit 20 receives, a display change instruction related to a left click using the operation unit 20 that specifies the "forward" button 26B, and a display change instruction as a lower-level display instruction related to a left double-click using the operation unit 20 that specifies a folder to display folders and files stored in the lower level.
[0064] When the control unit 11 receives a file open command from the operation unit 20 to open file B1-3, which is displayed in the folder / file display window 25A for folder A1 shown in Figure 13, the control unit 11 opens file B1-3, which is the target of the file open command, and displays the document of file B1-3, as shown in Figure 14, in an editable format in the display unit 25 in the document display window 27A.
[0065] When the control unit 11 receives a copy location instruction (an example of "one second instruction" in the claims) from the operation unit 20 specifying locations P1-3-1 and P1-3-2 within the document of file B1-3 as the copy destination for character sequences C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 displayed in the copy target list display window 28A, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy character sequences C1-1-1 and C1-1-2 to locations P1-3-1 and P1-3-2 within the document of file B1-3 specified by the copy location instruction. Furthermore, when the control unit 11 receives a copy location instruction (an example of "another second instruction" in the claims) from the operation unit 20 specifying location P1-3-3 within the document of file B1-3 as the copy destination for character sequence C1-1-1-1 displayed in the copy target list display window 28A, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy character sequence C1-1-1-1 to location P1-3-3 within the document of file B1-3 specified by the copy location instruction. An example of this is shown below.
[0066] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 14 to the beginning of the character sequence C1-1-1 to be copied, which is displayed in the copy target list display window 28A. Then, while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of the character sequence C1-1-1 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy execution target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets the character sequence C1-1-1, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the copy execution target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy execution target. The user then uses the operation unit 20 to press the left-click button on the display screen shown in Figure 14, and while holding down the left-click button, aligns the character sequence C1-1-1 with the copy position P1-3-1 in the document of file B1-3 displayed in the document display window 27A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy position instruction related to the operation of moving the character sequence C1-1-1 while pressing the left-click button of the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-1 to the copy position P1-3-1 specified by the copy position instruction, which is the copy position at the time the copy position instruction was received.
[0067] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 14 to the beginning of the character sequence C1-1-2 to be copied, which is displayed in the copy target list display window 28A. Then, while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of the character sequence C1-1-2 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy execution target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets the character sequence C1-1-2, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the copy execution target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy execution target. The user then presses the left-click button on the operation unit 20 on the display screen shown in Figure 14, and while holding down the left-click button, aligns the character sequence C1-1-2 with the copy position P1-3-2 in the document of file B1-3 displayed in the document display window 27A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 moves the character sequence C1-1-2 while pressing the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and receives a copy position instruction related to the operation of releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-2 to the copy position P1-3-2 specified by the copy position instruction, which is the copy position at the time the copy position instruction was received.
[0068] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 14 to the beginning of the character sequence C1-1-1-1 to be copied, which is displayed in the copy target list display window 28A. Then, while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of the character sequence C1-1-1-1 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy execution target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets the character sequence C1-1-1-1, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the copy execution target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy execution target. The user presses the left-click button on the operation unit 20 on the display screen shown in Figure 14, and while holding down the left-click button, aligns the character sequence C1-1-1-1 with the copy position P1-3-3 in the document of file B1-3 displayed in the document display window 27A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy position instruction related to the operation of moving the character sequence C1-1-1-1 while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-1-1 to the copy position P1-3-3 specified by the copy position instruction, which was the copy position instruction at the end of reception.
[0069] Furthermore, character rows C1-1-1, C1-1-2, and C1-1-1-1 will remain displayed in the copy target list display window 28A and can be copied to other locations within the document of file B1-3, or to locations within the document of other files other than file B1-3.
[0070] When the control unit 20 receives a file close instruction to close file B1-3 displayed in the document display window 27A, the control unit 11 performs a save process to update and save the document data of file B1-3, which is the target of the file close instruction, and then closes file B1-3. In this embodiment, the control unit 11 sends a save request to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, which includes the file name and path information of file B1-3 and the document data of file B1-3. The control unit 51 updates and saves the document data of file B1-3 according to the contents of the save request. Similarly, for other files, the control unit 11 sends a save request to the control unit 51, which includes the file name and path information of the file and the document data of the file. The control unit 51 updates and saves the document data of the file according to the contents of the save request.
[0071] The control unit 11, based on the path information of each folder and file acquired above, instructs the display unit 25 to change the display content of the folder and file display window 25A from the folders and files stored in the currently displayed folder to the folders and files stored in folder A1-3 shown in Figure 15, based on instructions related to a left click using the operation unit 20 to specify the "back" button 26A in the folder and file display window 25A received by the operation unit 20, instructions related to a left click using the operation unit 20 to specify the "forward" button 26B, and instructions related to a left double-click using the operation unit 20 to specify the folder to display the folders and files stored in the folder one level lower.
[0072] When the control unit 11 receives a file open command from the operation unit 20 to open file B1-3-1 displayed in the folder / file display window 25A for folder A1-3 shown in Figure 15, the control unit 11 opens file B1-3-1, the target of the file open command, and displays the document of file B1-3-1 shown in Figure 16 in editable format in the display unit 25 in the document display window 27A.
[0073] When the control unit 11 receives a copy location instruction (an example of the "other second instruction" in the claims) from the operation unit 20 specifying location P1-3-1-1 within the document of file B1-3-1 as the copy destination for the character sequence C1-1-2 displayed in the copy target list display window 28A, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-2 to location P1-3-1-1 within the document of file B1-3-1 specified by the copy location instruction. Furthermore, when the control unit 11 receives a copy location instruction (an example of the "other second instruction" or "another second instruction" in the claims) from the operation unit 20 specifying locations P1-3-1-2 and P1-3-1-3 within the document of file B1-3-1 as the copy destination for character sequences C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 displayed in the copy target list display window 28A, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy character sequences C1-1-1-1 and C1-1-1-2 to locations P1-3-1-2 and P1-3-1-3 within the document of file B1-3-1 specified by the copy location instruction. An example of this is shown below.
[0074] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 16 to the beginning of the character sequence C1-1-2 to be copied, which is displayed in the copy target list display window 28A. The user then uses the operation unit 20 to press the left-click button on the display screen shown in Figure 16, and while holding down the left-click button, aligns the character sequence C1-1-2 with the copy position P1-3-1-1 in the document of file B1-3-1 displayed in the document display window 27A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 moves the character sequence C1-1-2 while pressing the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and receives a copy position instruction related to the operation of releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-2 to the copy position P1-3-1-1 specified by the copy position instruction, which is the copy position at the time the copy position instruction was received.
[0075] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 16 to the beginning of the character sequence C1-1-1-1 to be copied, which is displayed in the copy target list display window 28A. The user presses the left-click button on the operation unit 20 on the display screen shown in Figure 16, and while holding down the left-click button, aligns the character sequence C1-1-1-1 with the copy position P1-3-1-2 in the document of file B1-3-1 displayed in the document display window 27A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy position instruction related to the operation of moving the character sequence C1-1-1-1 while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-1-1 to the copy position P1-3-1-2 specified by the copy position instruction, which was the copy position instruction at the end of reception.
[0076] The user uses the operation unit 20 to move the cursor on the display screen shown in Figure 16 to the beginning of the character sequence C1-1-1-2 to be copied, which is displayed in the copy target list display window 28A. Then, while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20, the user moves the cursor to the end of the character sequence C1-1-1-2 and releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy execution target instruction related to the operation of moving the cursor while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 sets the character sequence C1-1-1-2, which consists of characters from the cursor position at the start of receiving the copy execution target instruction to the cursor position at the end of receiving the instruction, as the copy execution target. The user presses the left-click button on the operation unit 20 on the display screen shown in Figure 16, and while holding down the left-click button, aligns the character sequence C1-1-1-2 with the copy position P1-3-1-3 in the document of file B1-3-1 displayed in the document display window 27A, and then releases the left-click button on the operation unit 20. When the operation unit 20 receives a copy position instruction related to the operation of moving the character sequence C1-1-1-2 while holding down the left-click button on the operation unit 20 and then releasing the left-click button, the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the character sequence C1-1-1-2 to the copy position P1-3-1-3 specified by the copy position instruction, which is the copy position at the time the copy position instruction was received.
[0077] Furthermore, character rows C1-1-2, C1-1-1-1, and C1-1-1-2 will remain displayed in the copy target list display window 28A and can be copied to other locations within the document of file B1-3-1, or to locations within the document of other files such as file B1-2.
[0078] When the control unit 11 receives a file close command from the operation unit 20 to close file B1-3-1 displayed in the document display window 27A, it performs a save process to update and save the document data of file B1-3-1, which is the target of the file close command, and then closes file B1-3-1.
[0079] Next, the processing procedure for the copy control process performed by the control unit 11 of the PC1 as an information processing device in Figure 1 will be explained with reference to Figures 17 to 20. Figures 17 to 20 are flowcharts showing the processing procedure for the copy control process performed by the control unit 11 of the PC1 as an information processing device in Figure 1.
[0080] The control unit 11 sends a request for path information indicating the storage location of each folder and each file to the control unit 51 of the file server 5, obtains the path information for each folder and each file from the control unit 51 of the file server 5, and displays the folder / file display window 25A on the display unit 25 based on the obtained path information for each folder and each file, and also displays the copy target list display window 28A on the display unit 25 (step S1).
[0081] The control unit 11 determines whether the operation unit 20 has received an instruction to change the display of the folder to be displayed in the folder / file display window 25A (step S2).
[0082] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S2 that it has received the display change instruction (S2: YES), the control unit 11 instructs the display unit 25 to change the display content of the folder / file display window 25A to the folders and files stored in the folder specified by the display change instruction (step S3), and returns to the process of step S2.
[0083] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S2 that it has not received the above display change instruction (S2: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether or not the operation unit 20 has received a file open instruction to open a file from among the files displayed in the folder / file display window 25A (step S4). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S4 that it has not received the above file open instruction (S4: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S2.
[0084] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S4 that it has received the file open instruction (S4: YES), the control unit 11 opens the file specified by the file open instruction, displays the document of the file in the document display window 27A in an editable format on the display unit 25 (step S5), and proceeds to the process of step S6.
[0085] The control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a copy target instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying a character sequence or graphic to be copied from the document of the file displayed in the document display window 27A (step S6). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S6 that it has not received the copy target instruction (S6: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S6.
[0086] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S6 that it has received the copy target instruction (S6: YES), the control unit 11 performs a first process to set the character sequence or figure specified by the copy target instruction as the copy target (step S7), and proceeds to the process of step S8. There are three patterns for setting the character sequence or figure as the copy target in steps S6 and S7: (1) a pattern in which one or more character sequences are set as the copy target, (2) a pattern in which one or more figures are set as the copy target, and (3) a pattern in which one or more character sequences and one or more figures are set as the copy target.
[0087] When the operation unit 20 receives a list display instruction, the control unit 11 performs a third process (step S8) instructing the display unit 25 to change the display content of the list of copy targets shown in the copy target list display window 28A to a list of copy targets to which the character sequence or shape set as the copy target has been added, and then proceeds to the process in step S9.
[0088] The control unit 11 determines whether or not the operation unit 20 has received a file close command to close the currently displayed file (step S9). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S9 that it has not received a file close command (S9: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S9.
[0089] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S9 that it has received a file close instruction (S9: YES), the control unit 11 closes the file specified by the file close instruction, displays a display screen with the document display window 27A hidden on the display unit 25 (step S10), and proceeds to the process of step S11.
[0090] The control unit 11 determines whether the operation unit 20 has received an instruction to change the display of the folder to be displayed in the folder / file display window 25A (step S11).
[0091] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S11 that it has received the display change instruction (S11: YES), the control unit 11 instructs the display unit 25 to change the display contents of the folder / file display window 25A to the folders and files stored in the folder specified by the display change instruction (step S12), and returns to the process of step S11.
[0092] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S11 that it has not received the display change instruction (S11: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether the operation unit 20 has received a file open instruction to open a file from among the files displayed in the folder / file display window 25A (step S13). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S13 that it has not received the file open instruction (S13: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S11.
[0093] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S13 that it has received the file open instruction (S13: YES), the control unit 11 opens the file specified by the file open instruction, displays the document of the file in the document display window 27A on the display unit 25 in an editable format (step S14), and proceeds to the process of step S15.
[0094] The control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a copy target instruction from the operation unit 20 specifying a character sequence or graphic to be copied from the document of the file displayed in the document display window 27A (step S15).
[0095] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S15 that it has received the copy target instruction (S15: YES), the control unit 11 performs a first process to set the character sequence or figure specified by the copy target instruction as the copy target (step S16), and proceeds to the process of step S17. There are three patterns for setting the character sequence or figure as the copy target in steps S15 and S16: (1) a pattern in which one or more character sequences are set as the copy target, (2) a pattern in which one or more figures are set as the copy target, and (3) a pattern in which one or more character sequences and one or more figures are set as the copy target.
[0096] When the operation unit 20 receives a list display instruction, the control unit 11 performs a third process (step S17) instructing the display unit 25 to change the display content of the list of copy targets shown in the copy target list display window 28A to a list of copy targets to which the character row or shape set as the copy target has been added, and then proceeds to the process in step S18.
[0097] The control unit 11 determines whether or not the operation unit 20 has received a file close command to close the currently displayed file (step S18). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S18 that it has not received a file close command (S18: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S18.
[0098] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S18 that it has received a file close instruction (S18: YES), the control unit 11 closes the file specified by the file close instruction, displays a display screen with the document display window 27A hidden on the display unit 25 (step S19), and returns to the process of step S11.
[0099] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S15 that it has not received the copy target instruction (S15: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether or not the operation unit 20 has received a copy execution target instruction specifying a copy target to be copied from the list of copy targets displayed in the copy target list display window 28A (step S20). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S20 that it has not received the copy execution target instruction (S20: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S15.
[0100] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S20 that it has received the copy execution target instruction (S20: YES), the control unit 11 sets the copy target (character sequence or graphic) specified by the copy execution target instruction as the copy execution target (step S21), and proceeds to the process of step S22.
[0101] The control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a copy location instruction from the operation unit 20, which specifies the location within the document of the file displayed in the document display window 27A as the copy destination for the copy target (character sequence or graphic) (step S22). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S22 that it has not received the copy location instruction (S22: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S22. On the other hand, if the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S22 that it has received the copy location instruction (S22: YES), the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the copy target (character sequence or graphic) set as the copy target to the location within the document specified by the copy location instruction (step S23), and then proceeds to the process of step S24.
[0102] The control unit 11 determines whether the operation unit 20 has received a copy execution target instruction specifying a copy target to be copied from the list of copy targets displayed in the copy target list display window 28A (step S24). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S24 that the copy execution target instruction has been received (S24: YES), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S21.
[0103] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S24 that it has not received the instruction to execute the copy (S24: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a file close instruction to close the file currently displayed by the operation unit 20 (step S25). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S25 that it has not received the file close instruction (S25: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S24.
[0104] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S25 that it has received a file close instruction (S25: YES), the control unit 11 performs a save process to update and save the document data of the file specified by the file close instruction, closes the file, displays a display screen with the document display window 27A hidden on the display unit 25 (step S26), and proceeds to the process of step S27.
[0105] The control unit 11 determines whether or not the operation unit 20 has received a copy target clear instruction to clear the copy target (step S27). For example, from the time the copy target list display window 28A is displayed, the control unit 11 displays a "Copy Target Clear" button on the display unit 25 within the copy target list display window 28A. The control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a copy target clear instruction corresponding to a left click of the operation unit 20 with the cursor positioned over the "Copy Target Clear" button.
[0106] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S27 that it has not received the instruction to clear the copy target (S27: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether the operation unit 20 has received an instruction to change the display of the folder to be displayed in the folder / file display window 25A (step S28). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S28 that it has received the instruction to change the display (S28: YES), the control unit 11 instructs the display unit 25 to change the display contents of the folder / file display window 25A to the folders and files stored in the folder specified by the instruction to change the display (step S29), and returns to the process of step S27.
[0107] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S28 that it has not received the above display change instruction (S28: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether or not the operation unit 20 has received a file open instruction to open a file from among the files displayed in the folder / file display window 25A (step S30). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S30 that it has not received the above file open instruction (S30: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S27.
[0108] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S30 that it has received the file open instruction (S30: YES), the control unit 11 opens the file specified by the file open instruction, displays the document of the file in the document display window 27A in an editable format on the display unit 25 (step S31), and proceeds to the process of step S32.
[0109] The control unit 11 determines whether the operation unit 20 has received a copy execution target instruction specifying a copy target to be copied from the list of copy targets displayed in the copy target list display window 28A (step S32). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S32 that the copy execution target instruction has been received (S32: YES), the control unit 11 sets the copy target (character sequence or graphic) specified by the copy execution target instruction as the copy execution target (step S33) and proceeds to the process of step S34.
[0110] The control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a copy location instruction from the operation unit 20, which specifies the location within the document of the file displayed in the document display window 27A as the copy destination for the copy target (character sequence or graphic) (step S34). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S34 that it has not received the copy location instruction (S34: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S34. On the other hand, if the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S34 that it has received the copy location instruction (S34: YES), the control unit 11 performs a second process to copy the copy target (character sequence or graphic) set as the copy target to the location within the document specified by the copy location instruction (step S35), and returns to the process of step S32.
[0111] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S32 that it has not received the copy execution target instruction (S32: NO), the control unit 11 determines whether or not it has received a file close instruction to close the currently displayed file from the operation unit 20 (step S36). If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S36 that it has not received a file close instruction (S36: NO), the control unit 11 returns to the process of step S32.
[0112] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S36 that it has received a file close instruction (S36: YES), the control unit 11 performs a save process to update and save the document data of the file specified by the file close instruction, closes the file, displays a display screen with the document display window 27A hidden on the display unit 25 (step S37), and returns to the process of step S27.
[0113] If the control unit 11 determines in the determination process of step S27 that it has received the instruction to clear the copy target (S27: YES), the control unit 11 clears the copy target (step S33) and the copy control process ends.
