Abstract
Description
Terminal, wireless communication method and device
[0001] This disclosure relates to terminals, wireless communication methods, and devices in next-generation mobile communication systems.
[0002] In the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network, Long Term Evolution (LTE) was specified with the aim of achieving even higher data rates and lower latency (Non-Patent Literature 1). Furthermore, LTE-Advanced (3GPP Rel. 10-14) was specified with the aim of further increasing the capacity and sophistication of LTE (Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP®) Release (Rel.) 8, 9).
[0003] Successor systems to LTE (for example, 5th generation mobile communication system (5G), 5G+ (plus), 6th generation mobile communication system (6G), New Radio (NR), 3GPP Rel. 15 and later) are also being considered.
[0004] 3GPP TS 36.300 V8.12.0 “Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) and Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN); Overall description; Stage 2 (Release 8)”, April 2010
[0005] In future wireless communication systems (Rel. 19 and beyond), the use of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) technology for terminal positioning (AI / ML-based positioning) of terminals (which may also be called user terminals, user equipment (UE), etc.) is being considered.
[0006] Regarding the AI / ML-based positioning described above, it is being considered that, for the purpose of calculating monitoring metrics, Positioning Reference Unit (PRU) measurements and corresponding PRU positions will be transmitted from the LMF to the target UE using the Rel. 18 assistance data transfer framework.
[0007] The PRU measurements used in the above-mentioned monitoring metric calculations must be PRU measurements that correspond to the AI models available to the UE. However, the assistance data transfer framework of Rel. 18 described above does not guarantee that the UE will be able to receive the desired PRU measurements.
[0008] If the UE is unable to receive the desired PRU measurement, monitoring based on the PRU measurement may not be properly performed. As a result, it may not be possible to select an appropriate AI model, which may negatively affect positioning quality. In this case, for example, it may not be possible to achieve high-precision, high-efficiency, and low-complexity positioning using AI / ML technology, which may suppress improvements in communication quality and communication throughput.
[0009] Therefore, one of the objectives of this disclosure is to provide a terminal, wireless communication method, and apparatus that can suitably achieve high precision, high efficiency, and low complexity positioning.
[0010] A terminal according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a transmitting unit that transmits information requesting a measurement format for a Positioning Reference Unit (PRU) to a device other than the PRU, and a control unit that determines whether the measurement received from the other device conforms to the format.
[0011] According to one aspect of this disclosure, high-precision, high-efficiency, and low-complexity positioning can be suitably achieved.

[0013] (Positioning Technology) Fingerprinting localization, which estimates the position of a wireless device using the propagation characteristics of wireless signals, is widely used in both Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) scenarios.
[0014] In this disclosure, LOS may mean that the UE and the base station are in a line of sight to each other (or there are no obstructions), and NLOS may mean that the UE and the base station are not in a line of sight to each other (or there are obstructions).
[0015] In fingerprint localization, the location of a UE may be estimated based on a database or other means, using fingerprints of the UE's multiple transmission paths (multipath).
[0016] Multipath information may also include, for example, information regarding the angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD) of signals in the optimal / candidate transmission path.
[0017] In this disclosure, AoA information may include, for example, information on at least one of the azimuth angles of arrival and the zenith angles of arrival. Similarly, AoD information may include, for example, information on at least one of the azimuth angles of departure and the zenith angles of departure.
[0018] 3GPP Rel. 16 NR supports the following positioning technologies: • Positioning based on DL / UL Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA), • Positioning based on angle (DL AoD / UL AoA), • Positioning based on Multi-Round Trip Time (RTT), • Positioning based on Enhanced Cell ID (E-CID).
[0019] In DL / UL TDOA-based positioning, consider a case where, for example, multiple base stations (TRP#0-#2) are positioned around a UE. In this positioning method, the UE's position is estimated (measured) using the measured Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD). For example, the RSTD (T) for two specific base stations (TRP#i, #j (i,j are integers)) i -T j ) has a value (k i,j Connecting the points that take the shape of the hyperbola H i,j This can be drawn. The intersection of multiple such hyperbolas (in this example, H 0,1、 H 1,2、 H 2,0 The intersection of the two points may be estimated as the location of the UE. In addition, the location of the UE may be estimated using the Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) of the reference signal.
[0020] In positioning methods based on DL AoD / UL AoA, the position of the UE is estimated using DL AoD measurements (e.g., θ or φ) or UL AoA measurements (e.g., θ or φ). Alternatively, the position of the UE may be estimated using RSRP.
[0021] In a multi-RTT-based positioning method, the location of the UE is estimated using multiple RTTs calculated from the Tx / Rx time difference of a reference signal (and additionally, RSRP, Reference Signal Received Quality (RSRQ), etc.). For example, geometric circles based on RTTs can be drawn around each base station. The intersection of these multiple circles may be estimated as the location of the UE.
[0022] E-CID-based positioning: In this positioning method, the location of the UE is estimated based on the geometric position of the serving cell / neighbor cell and additional measurement results (Tx-Rx time difference, RSRP, RSRQ, etc.).
[0023] The positioning in DL (DL TDOA, DL AoD) described above may be performed on the UE side or the LMF side. For example, in UE-based positioning, the UE may calculate its own position based on various measurement results from the UE and assistance information from the LMF. Alternatively, in UE-assisted positioning, the UE may report various measurement results to the LMF, and the LMF may calculate the UE's position. The assistance information may be information to assist in the estimation of the UE's position.
[0024] The positioning in the above-mentioned UL (UL TDOA, UL AoA) may be performed on the LMF side. In this case, the base station may report the various measurement results to the LMF, and the LMF may calculate the position of the UE.
[0025] The positioning in DL and UL (Multi-RTT, E-CID) described above may be performed on the LMF side. In this case, the UE / base station may report various measurement results to the LMF, and the LMF may calculate the UE's position.
[0026] Furthermore, 3GPP Rel. 17 proposes a positioning method using assistance information to further improve positioning accuracy. Assistance information may be transmitted between the UE, base station, and LMF as measurement information for DL / UL-TDOA, DL-AoD / UL-AoA, multi-RTT, and E-CID as described above.
[0027] Assistance information may include information on at least one of the following: • Timing Error Group (TEG) • Path-specific RSRP (Reference Signal Received Path Power (RSRPP)) • Expected angle • Adjacent beam information • TRP antenna / beam information • LOS / NLOS indicator • Additional path report.
[0028] TEG may indicate one or more PRS (Positioning Reference Signal) resources whose transmission / reception timing errors (Rx / Tx timing errors) are within a certain margin.
[0029] RSRPP may represent the measurement result of RSRP in the first pass.
[0030] In UL positioning, assistance information regarding the expected angle may indicate the expected UL-AoA / ZoA. This assistance information may be transmitted from the LMF to the base station. Furthermore, this assistance information may support at least one positioning from UL TDOA, UL AoA, and multi-RTT.
[0031] In DL positioning, assistance information regarding the expected angle may include information regarding the expected DL-AoA / ZoA or DL-AoD / ZoD. This assistance information may be transmitted from the LMF to the UE. Furthermore, this assistance information may support at least one positioning method from DL TDOA, DL AoA, and multi-RTT. This improves the accuracy of angle-based UE positioning and enables optimization of Rx beamforming of the UE or base station.
[0032] Furthermore, assistance information regarding the predicted angle may include not only the values of AoA / ZoA / AoD / ZoD themselves as described above, but also information indicating the uncertainty range of these values.
[0033] As additional beam information, adjacent beam information may include a subset of DL-PRS resources for prioritizing DL-AoD reports (Option 1), or information regarding the boresight direction of each DL-PRS resource (Option 2). This enables optimization of UE's Rx beam sweeping and DL-AoD measurements.
[0034] Additionally, the assistance information may include PRS beam pattern information as additional beam information. This PRS beam pattern information may include information on the relative power between DL-PRS resources for each angle for each TRP.
[0035] The LOS / NLOS indicator may display information regarding Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-Line of Sight (NLOS).
[0036] Furthermore, in order to improve the positioning delay of the UE, pre-set measurement gaps (MG), MG activation via lower layers, MG-less position, PRS Rx / Tx in RRC_INACTIVE state, or on-demand PRS may be set for the UE (or used by the UE).
[0037] In 3GPP Rel. 17 NR, it is agreed that UEs should measure and report the RSRP of adjacent beams in order to improve the accuracy of UE position estimation. For example, in the UE-assisted DL-AoD positioning method, the LMF may indicate that at least one of the following options 1-2 is included in the assistance information.
[0038] Option 1: A subset of PRS resources for the purpose of prioritizing DL-AOD reporting. This subset may be set for each PRS resource depending on the UE's capabilities. The UE may include the PRS measurements required for a subset of PRS in the additional measurements for DL-AoD if the PRS measurements required for the relevant PRS are reported. The required PRS measurements may be DL PRS RSRP / path PRS RSRP. The UE may report PRS measurements only for a subset of PRS resources. The subset related to a PRS resource may reside in the same / different PRS resource set as the PRS resource in question. Option 2: Information regarding boresight direction set for each PRS resource depending on the UE's capabilities.
[0039] In 3GPP Rel.16 NR, it has been agreed that the expected RSTD and its uncertainty range will be indicated by the LMF to the UE. Furthermore, in Rel.17, it has been agreed that the expected angle and its uncertainty range will be indicated by the LMF to the UE in order to reduce errors and complexity in AoA / AoD measurement.
[0040] In 3GPP Rel.17 NR, the introduction of a Positioning Reference Unit (PRU) for positioning is under discussion. The PRU is discussed as a reference device with a known position to mitigate transmit and receive timing errors of UE / gNB. In the present disclosure, PRU may be read interchangeably as UE / gNB / TRP (transmission reception point) / TP (transmission point).
[0041] For example, a PRU may support at least one of the following: • Measuring DL PRS and reporting related measurement values (e.g., RSTD / transmission-reception time difference / RSRP) to the LMF. • Transmitting SRS, enabling a TRP to measure measurement values related to the reference device (e.g., Relative Time of Arrival (RTOA) / transmission-reception time difference / AOA) and report the same to the LMF. • Operations, measurements, and various parameters (parameters related to transmit-receive timing delay, enhancement of AoD and AOA, and calibration of measurement values). • Reporting the position coordinate information of the reference device to the LMF when the LMF does not have such position coordinate information. • A reference device with a known position is a UE / gNB. • The accuracy with which the position of the reference device can be acquired.
[0042] (AI / ML-based Positioning) For future wireless communication technologies, application of AI technologies such as Machine Learning (ML) to network / device control, management, and the like is under discussion.
[0043] For positioning using AI models (AI / ML-based), for example, there are the following two use cases: ・Direct AI / ML positioning. ・AI / ML-assisted positioning.
[0044] According to direct AI / ML positioning, for example, UE positioning (UE position) is output. According to AI / ML-assisted positioning, for example, an intermediate feature is output. The intermediate feature may be input to the AI / ML model again.
[0045] As output examples of the above-mentioned AI / ML-assisted positioning, at least one of the following may be included: ・LOS / NLOS identification (LOS / NLOS probability), ・ToA (arrival time of PRS / SRS), ・Rx-Tx (transmit-receive) time difference, ・AoA / AoD, ・Number of waves, Rx-Tx (transmit-receive) phase difference (phase measurement in Rel. 18), ・DL RSTD / UL TDOA, ・DL-PRS / UL-SRS, RSRPs / RSRPPs, ・Likelihood of the above numerical values (e.g., probability of ToA).
[0046] Positioning in Rel. 18 introduces sidelink positioning based on the Sidelink Positioning Protocol (SLPP). For example, SL-RTT, SL-AoA, SL-TDOA, and SL-TOA are introduced. For example, the sidelink reference signal used for position calculation is called SL-PRS. At least one of the following may be used as a measurement based on SL-PRS: SL PRS-RSRP, SL PRS-RSRPP, SL RTOA, SL AoA, sidelink receive-transmit (Rx-Tx) time difference, SL RSTD, SL PRS-RSSI, SL PRS-channel occupancy ratio (CR), and SL PRS-channel busy ratio (CBR). Furthermore, as a measurement related to the carrier phase positioning method, at least one of UL / DL reference signal carrier phase (RSCP) and DL reference signal carrier phase difference (RSCPD) may be used.
[0047] (Use cases for AI-based positioning) Typical use cases for AI / ML-based positioning can be classified as follows, depending on which entity's (or which entity's) model is used and whether the measurement results of either DL signals or UL signals are used for position prediction.
[0048] Figures 1A and 1C show variations in positioning using DL signals. Figures 2A and 2B show variations in positioning using UL signals.
[0049] • Case 1 (Figure 1A): UE-based positioning using the UE model (direct AI / ML positioning, or AI / ML-assisted positioning). • Case 2a (Figure 1B): UE-assisted / LMF-based positioning using the UE model (AI / ML-assisted positioning). • Case 2b (Figure 1C): UE-assisted / LMF-based positioning using the LMF model (direct AI / ML positioning). • Case 3a (Figure 2A): NG-RAN node-assisted positioning using the gNB model (AI / ML-assisted positioning). • Case 3b (Figure 2B): NG-RAN node-assisted positioning using the LMF model (direct AI / ML positioning).
[0050] <Case 1> Case 1 is an example of positioning using a UE-side model and DL signals / channels (see Figure 1A). In Case 1, the UE receives (necessary) assistance information related to positioning (position prediction) from the NW (gNB / LMF). The UE-side model calculates (measures / predicts) the UE position or intermediate value based on the assistance information and DL signals / channels from the NW. The UE transmits the UE position or intermediate value to the NW (LMF).
[0051] <Case 2a> Case 2a is an example of positioning using a UE-side model and DL signals / channels (see Figure 1B). In Case 2a, the UE receives (necessary) assistance information related to positioning (location prediction) from the NW (gNB / LMF). The UE-side model calculates (measures / predicts) intermediate values based on the assistance information and DL signals / channels from the NW. The UE transmits these intermediate values to the NW (LMF).
[0052] <Case 2b> Case 2b is an example of positioning using an LMF-side model and DL signals / channels (see Figure 1C). In Case 2b, the UE transmits the measurement results of the DL signal (a specific signal / channel (e.g., RS)) from the NW to the NW (gNB / LMF). The UE also receives instructions from the NW to collect (necessary) data related to positioning (position prediction). The LMF-side model calculates (measures / predicts) the UE's position based on the measurement results of the DL signal.
[0053] <Case 3a> Case 3a is an example of positioning using a gNB-side model and UL signals / channels (see Figure 2A). In Case 3a, the gNB receives (necessary) assistance information related to positioning (position prediction) from the LMF. The gNB-side model calculates (measures / predicts) intermediate values based on the assistance information and the UL signals / channels from the UE. The gNB transmits these intermediate values to the LMF.
[0054] <Case 3b> Case 3b is an example of positioning using an LMF-side model and UL signals / channels (see Figure 2B). In Case 3b, the gNB transmits the measurement results of the UL signal (a specific signal / channel (e.g., RS)) from the UE to the LMF. The gNB also receives (necessary) assistance information related to positioning (position prediction) from the LMF. The LMF-side model calculates (measures / predicts) the UE position based on the measurement results of the UL signal.
[0055] In this disclosure, the intermediate value may be a value / information that can be used to determine location information (for example, the difference in arrival times of multiple signals (RS), or the round-trip time (RTT) of a particular signal (RS)).
[0056] (Sample-based positioning / Path-based positioning) In AI / ML-based positioning in future wireless communication systems (e.g., Rel. 19 and later), the introduction of sample-based and path-based measurements as inputs to the model is being considered.
[0057] <Sample-Based Measurement> A sample-based measurement may consist of Nt' samples of the estimated channel response in the time domain. The Nt' samples may be selected from Nt samples.
[0058] Timing information for Nt' samples may be measured / reported by timing measurement particle size T.
[0059] T may be determined based on the timing reporting granularity factor k and the basic time unit Tc in NR, where T = 2 k *Tc is also acceptable.
[0060] The corresponding measurement (e.g., power) may correspond to the measurement values of the Nt' samples reported.
[0061] The values of Nt, Nt', and k may be determined based on notifications from the LMF to the base station / UE using higher-layer signaling (e.g., NRPPa / LPP).
[0062] Timing information may be defined as a relative value from the reference time.
[0063] The timing reporting granularity factor k may be notified, for example, using the upper-level parameter timingReportingGranularityFactor.
[0064] A negative value for T may mean that the corresponding specific path is earlier (in the past) in time than the detection path of the reference (time).
[0065] Figure 3 shows an example of sample-based measurement. In the example shown in Figure 3, Nt' samples are selected and measured from Nt samples.
[0066] <Path-Based Measurement> Path-based measurement may include measurement reports in existing specifications (e.g., up to Rel. 18). In other words, path-based measurement may correspond to measurements in existing specifications (e.g., up to Rel. 18).
[0067] Timing information related to path-based measurement may be measured / reported according to the timing measurement granularity T.
[0068] T may be determined based on at least the timing reporting granularity factor k. As described above, T=2 k *Tc may be used for calculation. Note that k for sample-based measurement and k for path-based measurement may be different.
[0069] The definition of a path may be determined based on the implementation of UE / NW.
[0070] The recommended value of k may be notified from the LMF to the base station / UE via higher layer signaling (e.g., NRPPa / LPP).
[0071] (Analysis) By the way, regarding the model performance monitoring in Case 1 above, it has been considered that a UE (target UE) performs monitoring metric calculation. In this case, it has been considered that the UE transmits the monitoring outcome to the LMF. Furthermore, it has been considered that the AI model to be used, the positioning method, and the like are determined based on the monitoring outcome.
[0072] For the calculation of the above monitoring metrics, it is conceivable that PRU measurements and corresponding PRU positions are transmitted from the LMF to the target UE by using the Rel. 18 assistance data transfer framework.
[0073] Figures 4A and 4B show an example of the assistance data transfer framework in Rel. 18. As shown in Figure 4A, the UE sends an LPP Request Assistance Data message to the LMF requesting assistance data for, for example, DL-TDOA positioning, and in response, the LMF sends an LPP Provide Assistance Data message containing the requested assistance data to the UE. Figure 4B shows an example of assistance data that can be transferred from the LMF to the UE. As described above, the assistance data may include PRU measurements and corresponding PRU positions. The assistance data may be used by the UE for UE-based positioning or UE-assisted positioning.
[0074] Figure 5 shows an example of assistance data request information in Rel. 18. This example is written using Abstract Syntax Notation One (ASN. 1) notation (the same applies to similar figures thereafter). Note that this is merely an example and may not be a complete description, but the intent of the description should be understandable to those skilled in the art.
[0075] In this disclosure, the names of RRC information elements, RRC parameters, etc., are not limited to those shown, and may include suffixes indicating that they were introduced in a specific resource (e.g., "_r19", "-r19", etc.). Such suffixes may be omitted or replaced with other words.
[0076] The above request information is an information element (NR-DL-TDOA-RequestAssistanceData information element) for requesting DL-TDOA positioning assistance data, used by the target device (target UE) to request assistance data from the location server (LMF). The NR-DL-TDOA-RequestAssistanceData information element may be included in the LPP request assistance data message.
[0077] Within this information element, nr-PosCalcAssistanceRequest-r17 is a field that indicates the requested position calculation assistance data. This field is represented by a bit string, where a value of '1' at each bit position means that specific assistance data is requested. Bit 6 of this field (pruInfo-r18) indicates whether the nr-PRU-DL-Info field in the NR-PositionCalculationAssistance information element is requested. The nr-PRU-DL-Info field indicates an information element (NR-PRU-DL-Info information element) used by the Location Server (LMF) to provide measurement / additional information reported by the PRU.
[0078] The NR-PositionCalculationAssistance information element may, for example, correspond to position calculation assistance data for UE-based positioning. This information element may be included in the information element for providing DL-TDOA positioning assistance data (NR-DL-TDOA-ProvideAssistanceData information element) used by the Location Server (LMF) to provide assistance data. The NR-DL-TDOA-ProvideAssistanceData information element may be included in the LPP provide assistance data message.
[0079] Figure 6 shows an example of PRU measurement information in Rel. 18. This PRU measurement information consists of the NR-PRU-DL-Info information elements described above. These information elements may include, for example, the NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation information elements used to provide DL-TDOA measurement. For simplicity, some fields / information elements are omitted in this example ("==omit==" indicates that fields / information elements around this position are omitted; the same applies to similar figures thereafter).
[0080] According to the Rel. 18 assistance data transfer framework described above, the UE can obtain PRU measurements from the LMF.
[0081] For future wireless communication systems (e.g., Rel. 19 and later), the PRU measurements used for the above-mentioned monitoring metric calculations must be PRU measurements that correspond to the AI models available to the UE. However, the assistance data transfer framework of Rel. 18 described above does not guarantee that the UE will be able to receive the desired PRU measurements.
[0082] If the UE is unable to receive the desired PRU measurement, monitoring based on the PRU measurement may not be properly performed.
[0083] Therefore, the inventors of this invention conceived a method that allows the UE to efficiently receive the desired PRU measurement.

[0105] In this disclosure, terms such as outcome, result, and output may be interpreted interchangeably. For example, monitoring outcome may be interpreted interchangeably with monitoring result, monitoring output, etc.
[0106] In this disclosure, "sample-based," "per sample," etc., may be interpreted interchangeably. In this disclosure, "sample," "sampling," etc., may be interpreted interchangeably. "Path-based," "per path," etc., may be interpreted interchangeably. In this disclosure, "path" and "additional path" may be interpreted interchangeably.

[0109] In this disclosure, sample-based measurement and path-based measurement may be associated with AI / ML-based positioning or with conventional positioning (non-AI / ML-based positioning, e.g., DL-TDOA, DL-AoD, UL-AoA, etc.).
[0110] In this disclosure, LPP messages may be interpreted as any message exchanged between the UE and the LMF. Also, in this disclosure, NRPPa messages may be interpreted as any message exchanged between the gNB and the LMF.
[0111] (Wireless Communication Method) In this disclosure, positioning is the primary example of a use case for AI models. Positioning in the following embodiments may mean AI / ML-based positioning. Embodiments of this disclosure are applicable to any use case of positioning (DL positioning / UL positioning, UE / gNB / LMF-based positioning, and at least one of the above cases (cases 1 to 3b)). Embodiments of this disclosure may be applied to other use cases by paraphrasing use case-specific terminology (e.g., terminology specific to positioning).
[0112] The UE / NW (base station (gNB) / LMF) may perform positioning and various related operations (measurement / prediction / reporting / transmission / reception) by applying the embodiments shown below.
[0113] The UE / NW (base station) may receive various settings for positioning / measurement / reporting. Furthermore, the UE / NW (base station) may report / transmit the corresponding prediction (positioning) results to the NW (LMF).
[0114] The network (base station / LMF) may transmit various settings for positioning / measurement / reporting to the user environment (UE) / base station. Furthermore, the network may receive corresponding prediction results (reports) from the user environment (UE) / base station. For example, the LMF may transmit instructions to the user environment (UE) / base station requesting inferred location information / intermediate values.
[0115] The UE / NW (base station / LMF) may control various positioning operations (transmission and reception of related information) by applying the embodiments of this disclosure and the various provisions described above. Furthermore, the UE / NW (base station / LMF) may perform information exchange among multiple entities to realize these various operations.
[0116] In this disclosure, communication between the UE and the LMF may be transmitted via a base station.
[0117] In this disclosure, either positioning using an AI / ML model on the UE side or positioning using an AI / ML model on the NW / LMF side may be performed.
[0118] Furthermore, positioning may be performed using both the UE-side AI / ML model and the NW / LMF-side AI / ML model in this disclosure. In this case, for example, the positioning by the UE-side model described in this disclosure may be performed based on the output of the NW / LMF-side model.
[0119] Figure 7 shows an example of a procedure for a report format request / report according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0120] In step S101, the UE may request the NW (e.g., LMF) to provide the reporting format for PRU measurements that it wishes to receive as assistance data. The reporting format for PRU measurements may be sent using the first message (e.g., an LPP request assistance data message). The UE may determine the reporting format that is suitable for the AI model used for calculating monitoring metrics and then make the request.
[0121] In step S102, the LMF may request the PRU to provide the reporting format for the PRU measurement. The PRU may also assume that the LMF will request the reporting format for the PRU measurement. The reporting format for the PRU measurement may be sent using a second message (for example, a specific LPP message). This second message may be a message requesting the PRU measurement.
[0122] In step S103, the PRU may report a PRU measurement. The PRU measurement may be transmitted using a third message (e.g., a specific LPP message). The report of the PRU measurement may or may not conform to the above reporting format. The report of the PRU measurement may be called a PRU measurement report.
[0123] In this disclosure, the measurement results and the measurement may be interpreted interchangeably. Also, in this disclosure, the PRU measurement may be interpreted interchangeably with the PRU measurement / PRU position. Also, in this disclosure, the PRU measurement and the measurement may be interpreted interchangeably.
[0124] In step S104, the UE may receive a PRU measurement from the NW (e.g., LMF). The PRU measurement may be notified using a fourth message (e.g., an LPP provide assistance data message). The UE may explicitly or implicitly indicate (or assume) the reporting format for the PRU measurement.
[0125] The notification of the reporting format for the PRU measurement in step S103 or S104 may be called a reporting format report. The reporting format report may be reported simultaneously with the PRU measurement, included in the third / fourth message, or sent in a separate message.
[0126] Note that UE in the above procedure may be interpreted as gNB. Also, PRU in the above procedure may be interpreted as a different UE / gNB than the UE requesting the report format in step S101. When UE / PRU is interpreted as gNB, LPP messages in the above procedure may be interpreted as NRPPa messages.
[0127] Furthermore, at least one step in the above procedure may be omitted. For example, steps S101-S103 may be omitted.
[0128] In this disclosure, PRU measurement or reporting of PRU measurement may be controlled based on a reporting format. The reporting format may specify at least one of the following: • Measurement type (e.g., sample-based measurement, path-based measurement), • Parameters [for measurement], • Information on the reference signal (RS) used for the measurement.
[0129] In this disclosure, the measurement type, measurement method, etc., may be interpreted interchangeably.
[0130] The above parameters [for measurement] may correspond to, for example, Nt / Nt' / k in sample-based measurement, k / number of additional passes in pass-based measurement, etc. Note that k for sample-based measurement and k for pass-based measurement may be specified to different values.
[0131] The RS used in the PRU measurement may be, for example, a PRS. Information regarding the RS used in the above measurement may include, for example, information regarding the time resources (timing) of the RS (e.g., period, start timing), and information regarding the frequency resources (e.g., bandwidth) of the RS.
[0132] In this disclosure, the terms "reporting format" may be interpreted interchangeably with "measurement type," "measurement parameter," "measurement characteristics," "reporting characteristics," "measurement format," "format," and "report / measurement" settings.
[0133] <First Embodiment> The first embodiment relates to the request for a report format from the UE in step S101 and the receipt of the UE's PRU measurement in step S104.
[0134] The UE may include information about the reporting format (hereinafter also referred to as reporting format information, format information, etc.) in an information element for requesting assistance data for a specific positioning. For example, the information element may be an existing DL-TDOA assistance data request information element (NR-DL-TDOA-RequestAssistanceData information element) or a new information element for requesting assistance data for AI / ML-based positioning. The information element may be included in the first message described above.
[0135] Figure 8 shows an example of format information included in the DL-TDOA assistance data request information element in the first embodiment.
[0136] In this example, the DL-TDOA assistance data request information element includes a field for format information (nr-measurementformat-r19). The format information may also include measurement type information (nr-measurementtype-r19), parameters for sample-based measurement (nr-sample-basedmeasurementparameter-r19), parameters for path-based measurement (nr-path-basedmeasurementparameter-r19), etc.
[0137] As previously stated, the ASN. 1 format described in this disclosure is an example and does not have to be as shown (for example, the format information fields in Figure 8 may be represented not by bit strings, but by choice, sequence, etc.). Also, the format information may be defined as an information element (for example, NR-MeasurementFormat-r19).
[0138] Furthermore, nr-samplenumber, nr-reportnumber, and nr-timinggranualityfactor in nr-sample-basedmeasurementparameter-r19 may represent Nt, Nt', and k, respectively, in sample-based measurement. Also, nr-timinggranualityfactor and nr-additionalpathnumber in nr-path-basedmeasurementparameter-r19 may represent k and the number of additional passes, respectively, in path-based measurement.
[0139] Figure 9 shows an example of format information included in an information element that requests assistance data for AI / ML-based positioning in the first embodiment.
[0140] In this example, the information element (NR-DL-AI / MLbasedpositioning-RequestAssistanceData-r19) that requests assistance data for AI / ML-based positioning includes a field for format information (nr-measurementformat-r19). The content of the format information may be the same as in Figure 8.
[0141] The UE may use format information to request a reporting format (for example, at least one of the following) (in other words, the format information may indicate at least one of the following): - either or both sample-based and path-based measurements; - one or more values for a parameter; - priority for each parameter, or priority for each combination of parameters; - any combination of the above.
[0142] The parameter values may also be indicated by a range.
[0143] The above priority order may be used by a PRU to determine which measurement method / parameter to actually use when multiple measurement methods / parameters are requested to be used at the same time. For example, a PRU may use a measurement method / parameter with a higher priority to perform a measurement at a given time. In this disclosure, priority, priority, priority value, etc., may be interpreted interchangeably.
[0144] In this disclosure, format information may be explicitly represented by a measurement method / parameter that specifies the reporting format, or implicitly represented by a specific indicator (or identifier (ID)). For example, the value of such indicator (or ID) may be associated with a specific reporting format [information]. This association may be predefined or pre-established between UE / LMF / PRU.
[0145] The UE may assume that the LMF will always receive format information (or a first message containing such information), and may assume that the LMF will always return a response to such format information (or the first message). This response may be the fourth message described above, or may be contained within the fourth message.
[0146] The above response may include at least one of the following: - PRU measurements held by the LMF; - Whether the above PRU measurements conform to (or correspond to) the requested reporting format; - The reporting format of the PRU measurements held by the LMF; - Why the LMF will not report PRU measurements that conform to the requested reporting format; - A combination of the above.
[0147] The PRU measurements included in the above response may be notified using an existing specific information element (NR-PRU-DL-Info information element), or they may be a new information element for providing assistance data for AI / ML-based positioning. If the above PRU measurement is a sample-based measurement, the above response may include information indicating the measurement results for each sample. If the above PRU measurement is a path-based measurement, the above response may include information indicating the measurement results for each path.
[0148] The PRU measurements included in the above response may include one or more PRU measurements held by the LMF that correspond to the requested reporting format, or they may not include any PRU measurements corresponding to the requested reporting format. The PRU measurements included in the above response may include, in place of or along with, one or more PRU measurements corresponding to the requested reporting format, one or more PRU measurements corresponding to a reporting format that has not been requested. The PRU measurements held by the LMF may include measurements obtained before receiving the request for the reporting format, or measurements obtained after receiving the request.
[0149] The response may indicate the reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the response (in other words, the reporting format actually used for the PRU measurement). This allows the UE to suitably determine whether the PRU measurement included in the response conforms to the requested reporting format.
[0150] The reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the above response may be indicated by the format information.
[0151] Figure 10 shows an example of notification of a reporting format corresponding to PRU measurement in the first embodiment. In this example, the NR-PRU-DL-Info-r18 information element includes a field for format information (nr-measurementformat-r19).
[0152] Furthermore, the reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the above response may be restricted. For example, the reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the above response may be limited to a reporting format that uses only values smaller than / larger than the value of a certain parameter indicated in the requested reporting format for that parameter.
[0153] Information regarding whether the above PRU measurement conforms to (or corresponds to) the requested reporting format may be considered format information or may be represented by other information (e.g., a Boolean value) (for example, TRUE indicating conformity to the requested reporting format). In this disclosure, such other information may also be included in the format information (or may be defined as format information). If, for a given PRU measurement, neither the corresponding format information nor information regarding whether it conforms to the requested reporting format is included in the above response, it may be implicitly indicated that the PRU measurement conforms to the requested reporting format.
[0154] The UE may determine the reporting format to request later based on the reporting format of the PRU measurements held by the LMF included in the above response. By requesting the reporting format selected from the reporting formats of the PRU measurements held by the LMF, the UE can reliably obtain the PRU measurements held by the LMF.
[0155] The reason for not reporting PRU measurements in accordance with the requested reporting format may be indicated by a specific failure message, which may be one or a combination of the following: • The LMF does not possess PRU measurements in accordance with the requested reporting format; • The PRU does not support the measurement method specified by the requested reporting format; • The PRU does not support measurements using the parameters specified by the requested reporting format.
[0156] Regarding the reason for not reporting PRU measurements in accordance with the requested reporting format, the response may include information that identifies which PRUs do not correspond to which reporting format [measurements using the measurement methods / parameters specified by that format] (e.g., the ID of the PRU, the format information associated with that ID / the specific indicator mentioned above, etc.).
[0157] The UE may determine whether the PRU measurements included in the above response conform to the requested reporting format. If the UE determines that the PRU measurements included in the above response conform to the requested reporting format, it may perform monitoring metric calculations based on the received PRU measurements.
[0158] If the PRU measurements included in the above response do not conform to the requested reporting format, the UE may determine whether the reporting format of the PRU measurements corresponds to (or is applicable to) an AI model available to the UE. This will allow the UE to determine whether or not to perform monitoring metric calculations based on the received PRU measurements.
[0159] Furthermore, the UE is not required to send format information (or the first message containing such information). Even in this case, the LMF may send to the UE information / message equivalent to the above response (for example, a message containing the PRU measurement held by the LMF and the format information corresponding to the reporting format of the PRU measurement). In other words, even if the UE does not send format information, it may receive the PRU measurement associated with the format information (it may assume that it will be notified of the reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement).
[0160] According to the first embodiment described above, for example, the UE can request a report format from the LMF and can suitably receive the desired PRU measurement corresponding to that report format.
[0161] <Second Embodiment> The second embodiment relates to the request for a report format from the LMF in step S102 and the reception of the PRU measurement from the LMF in step S103.
[0162] The LMF may include format information in a specific information element and send it to the PRU. This format information may be the same as the format information requested by the UE, or it may be format information determined by the LMF. For example, the specific information element may be a [new] information element for requesting a reporting format (e.g., the NR-ReportingformatRequest-r19 information element). This information element may be included in the second message.
[0163] Figure 11 shows an example of format information included in an information element requesting a report format in the second embodiment. In this example, the NR-ReportingformatRequest-r19 information element includes a field for format information (nr-measurementformat-r19).
[0164] The LMF may request a reporting format (for example, at least one of the following) using the format information (in other words, the format information may indicate at least one of the following, and the PRU may assume that at least one of the following is specified using the format information): - either or both of sample-based and path-based measurements; - one or more values for a parameter; - priority for each parameter, or priority for each combination of parameters; - any combination of the above.
[0165] The parameter values may also be indicated by a range.
[0166] The above priority order may be used by the PRU to determine which measurement method / parameter to actually use when multiple measurement methods / parameters are requested at the same time. For example, the PRU may perform a measurement at a certain time using a measurement method / parameter with a higher priority.
[0167] The PRU may assume that it will always receive format information (or a second message containing such information), and may assume that it will always return a response to the LMF for such format information (or the second message). This response may be the third message described above, or may be included in the third message.
[0168] The PRU may perform measurements based on the measurement methods / parameters indicated by the format information. Alternatively, the PRU may perform measurements based on measurement methods / parameters not indicated by the format information.
[0169] The above response may include at least one of the following: - PRU measurements held by the PRU; - Whether the above PRU measurements conform to (or correspond to) the requested reporting format; - The reporting format of the PRU measurements held by the PRU; - Why the PRU will not report PRU measurements that conform to the requested reporting format; - A combination of the above.
[0170] The PRU measurement included in the above response may be notified using an existing specific information element (the NR-PRU-DL-Info information element or the NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation information element), or it may be a new information element for reporting the PRU measurement.
[0171] The PRU measurements included in the above response may include one or more PRU measurements held by the PRU that correspond to the requested reporting format, or they may not include any PRU measurements that correspond to the requested reporting format. The PRU measurements included in the above response may include, in place of or along with, one or more PRU measurements that correspond to the requested reporting format, one or more PRU measurements that correspond to a reporting format that has not been requested. The PRU measurements held by the PRU may include measurements obtained before receiving the request for the reporting format, or measurements obtained after receiving the request.
[0172] The reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurements included in the above response may be indicated in the response. This allows the UE to suitably determine whether the PRU measurements included in the above response conform to the requested reporting format.
[0173] The reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the above response may be indicated by format information. For example, the value of the indicator may be associated with a specific reporting format [information]. This association may be predetermined or pre-established between PRU and LMF.
[0174] Figure 12 shows an example of notification of a reporting format corresponding to PRU measurement in the second embodiment. In this example, the NR-DL-TDOA-SignalMeasurementInformation information element includes a field for format information (nr-measurementformat-r19).
[0175] Furthermore, as shown in Figure 10, an NR-PRU-DL-Info-r18 information element including a format information field (nr-measurementformat-r19) may be used for the above response.
[0176] Furthermore, the reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the above response may be restricted. For example, the reporting format corresponding to the PRU measurement included in the above response may be limited to a reporting format that uses only values smaller than / larger than the value of a certain parameter indicated in the requested reporting format for that parameter.
[0177] Information regarding whether the above PRU measurement conforms to (or corresponds to) the requested reporting format may be considered format information or may be represented by other information (e.g., a Boolean value) (for example, TRUE indicating conformity to the requested reporting format).
[0178] The LMF may determine the reporting format to request later based on the reporting format of the PRU measurements held by the PRU included in the above response. By requesting the reporting format selected from the reporting formats of the PRU measurements held by the PRU, the LMF can reliably obtain the PRU measurements held by the PRU.
[0179] The reason for not reporting PRU measurements in accordance with the requested reporting format may be indicated by a specific failure message, which may be one or a combination of the following: • The PRU does not possess PRU measurements in accordance with the requested reporting format; • The PRU does not support the measurement method specified by the requested reporting format; • The PRU does not support measurements using the parameters specified by the requested reporting format.
[0180] Regarding the reason for not reporting PRU measurements in accordance with the requested reporting format, the response may include information that identifies which PRUs do not correspond to which reporting format [measurements using the measurement methods / parameters specified by that format] (e.g., the ID of the PRU, the format information associated with that ID / the specific indicator mentioned above, etc.).
[0181] According to the second embodiment described above, the UE can request a report format from the LMF and can suitably receive the desired PRU measurement corresponding to that report format.
[0182] <Supplement> The above embodiment shows an example in which the reporting format is requested / notified by format information, but is not limited to this. For example, instead of format information, or together with [part of] format information, information for identifying the AI model used for calculating monitoring metrics (e.g., model ID) may be used to identify the reporting format. A reporting format suitable for inputting an AI model may be predetermined or pre-configured between UE / LMF / PRU.
[0183] In steps S101 / S102, the UE / LMF may request a model ID. The LMF may determine the corresponding format information based on the model ID and send a request for the report format in step S102. The PRU may determine the corresponding format information based on the model ID and perform a PRU measurement based on that format information. In steps S103 / S104, the PRU / LMF may return the model ID / format information corresponding to the PRU measurement.
[0184] <<Notification of Information to the UE>> In the embodiments described above, notification of any information from the Network (NW) (e.g., Base Station (BS)) to the UE (in other words, reception of any information from the BS at the UE) may be performed using physical layer signaling (e.g., DCI), higher layer signaling (e.g., RRC signaling, MAC CE), specific signals / channels (e.g., PDCCH, PDSCH, reference signal), or a combination thereof.
[0185] If the above notification is made by a MAC CE, the MAC CE may be identified by the inclusion of a new Logical Channel ID (LCID) not defined in existing standards in the MAC subheader.
[0186] If the above notification is made by DCI, the notification may be made by a specific field of the DCI, a Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) used to scramble the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) bits assigned to the DCI, or the format of the DCI.
[0187] In the embodiments described above, information from the network may be set / instructed by the following methods: - Common to multiple UEs, or individual to a UE. - Cell-specific, or common to multiple cells. - Per UE / Per CC / Per BWP / Per band / Per cell / Per cell group (CG).
[0188] <<Notification of Information from UE>> Notification of any information from the UE to the NW in the embodiments described above (in other words, transmission / reporting of any information from the UE to the BS) may be performed using physical layer signaling (e.g., UCI), higher layer signaling (e.g., RRC signaling, MAC CE), specific signals / channels (e.g., PUCCH, PUSCH, PRACH, reference signals), or a combination thereof.
[0189] If the above notification is made by a MAC CE, the MAC CE may be identified by the inclusion of a new LCID not specified in existing standards in the MAC subheader.
[0190] If the above notice is made by the UCI, the notice may be transmitted using PUCCH or PUSCH.
[0191] Furthermore, the notification of any information from the UE in the above-described embodiment may be periodic, semi-persistent (triggered by instructions from the UE or gNB), or aperiodic (triggered by instructions from the UE or gNB).
[0192] <<Regarding the application of each embodiment>> In a UE / BS (NW / gNB / LMF / NG-RAN), specific (one or more) processes / operations / controls / assumptions / information for at least one of the embodiments described above may be applied (or used) if any or more of the following conditions are met: - A higher-layer parameter indicating the specific process / operation / control / assumption / information is set; - The specific process / operation / control / assumption / information is determined based on the relevant higher-layer parameter; - The specific process / operation / control / assumption / information is designated / activated / triggered by MAC CE / DCI / UCI / resource / channel / RS; - A specific UE capability indicating (or related to) the specific process / operation / control / assumption / information is reported or supported; - The application of the specific process / operation / control / assumption / information is determined based on specific conditions.
[0193] The above-mentioned specific UE capabilities may include at least one of the following: supporting the above-mentioned specific processing / operation / control / assumment / information; supporting AI / ML-based positioning; supporting which case of AI / ML-based positioning (e.g., case 1); supporting sample-based measurement; and supporting requests for reporting formats.
[0194] Furthermore, the above-mentioned specific UE capability may be a capability that applies across all frequencies (commonly regardless of frequency), a capability per frequency (e.g., one or a combination thereof, such as cell, band, band combination, BWP, component carrier, etc.), a capability per frequency range (e.g., Frequency Range 1 (FR1), FR2, FR3, FR4, FR5, FR2-1, FR2-2), a capability per subcarrier spacing (SCS), or a capability per feature set (FS) or feature set per component-carrier (FSPC).
[0195] Furthermore, the specific UE capabilities described above may be capabilities that apply across all duplexing schemes (common to all duplexing schemes regardless of the duplexing scheme), or they may be capabilities specific to each duplexing scheme (e.g., Time Division Duplex (TDD), Frequency Division Duplex (FDD)).
[0196] If the above conditions are not met, UE / BS may follow the behavior specified in existing 3GPP releases.
[0197] Information on whether one or more of the above embodiments / options / choices / examples apply / are used, or which of the above embodiments / options / choices / examples apply / are used, may be based on several of the following methods: • The information is set by one or more higher-layer parameters / RRC IEs. • The information is determined by one or more relevant higher-layer parameters / RRC IEs. • The information is indicated by MAC CE / DCI. • The information is based on one or more UE capabilities. • The information is described / defined in the specification. • The information is based on conditions described / defined in the specification. • The information is determined by a combination of several of the above. For example, the information is determined by the setting / indication of higher-layer parameters / MAC CE / DCIs and reported by UE capabilities.
[0198] The above multiple embodiments / options / choices may be combined into a single embodiment / option / choice.

[0203] In EN-DC, the LTE (E-UTRA) base station (eNB) is the Master Node (MN), and the NR base station (gNB) is the Secondary Node (SN). In NE-DC, the NR base station (gNB) is the MN, and the LTE (E-UTRA) base station (eNB) is the SN.
[0204] The wireless communication system 1 may support dual connectivity between multiple base stations within the same RAT (for example, dual connectivity where both MN and SN are NR base stations (gNB) (NR-NR Dual Connectivity (NN-DC))).
[0205] The wireless communication system 1 may include a base station 11 that forms a macrocell C1 with relatively wide coverage, and base stations 12 (12a-12c) located within the macrocell C1 that form a small cell C2 that is narrower than the macrocell C1. User terminals 20 may be located within at least one cell. The arrangement, number, shape, size, etc., of each cell and user terminal 20 are not limited to the configuration shown in the figure. Hereinafter, when base stations 11 and 12 are not distinguished, they will be collectively referred to as base station 10.
[0206] The wireless communication system 1 may utilize Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO). For example, one cell may be formed by one antenna / base station 10, or by multiple antennas / base stations 10. One [virtual] cell (which may be called a supercell, for example) may be composed of multiple [virtual] cells (which may be called subcells, for example). A supercell may correspond to a cell with a fixed physical range, and a subcell may correspond to a cell whose physical range fluctuates quasi-statically / dynamically. In this case, the wireless communication system 1 may be called a cell-free system.
[0207] The user terminal 20 may be connected to at least one of the multiple base stations 10. The user terminal 20 may utilize at least one of Carrier Aggregation (CA) using multiple Component Carriers (CC) and Dual Connectivity (DC).
[0208] Each CC may be included in at least one of the first frequency band (Frequency Range 1 (FR1)) and the second frequency band (Frequency Range 2 (FR2)). A macrocell C1 may be included in FR1, and a small cell C2 may be included in FR2. For example, FR1 may be a frequency band of 6 GHz or less (sub-6 GHz), and FR2 may be a frequency band above 24 GHz. Note that the frequency bands and definitions of FR1 and FR2 are not limited to these, and for example, FR1 may be in a frequency band higher than FR2.
[0209] Furthermore, the user terminal 20 may communicate in each CC using at least one of Time Division Duplex (TDD) and Frequency Division Duplex (FDD).
[0210] Multiple base stations 10 may be connected by wire (e.g., optical fiber compliant with Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), X2 / Xn interface, etc.) or wireless (e.g., NR communication). For example, when NR communication is used as a backhaul between base stations 11 and 12, base station 11, which is the upstream station, may be called an Integrated Access Backhaul (IAB) donor, and base station 12, which is the relay station, may be called an IAB node.
[0211] Base station 10 may be connected to the core network 30 via other base stations 10 or directly. The core network 30 may include at least one of the following: Evolved Packet Core (EPC), 5G Core Network (5GCN), Next Generation Core (NGC), etc.
[0212] The core network 30 may include network functions (NF) such as User Plane Function (UPF), Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), Session Management Function (SMF), Unified Data Management (UDM), Application Function (AF), Data Network (DN), Location Management Function (LMF), and Operation, Administration and Maintenance (Management) (OAM). Multiple functions may be provided by a single network node. Furthermore, communication with an external network (e.g., the Internet) may occur via the DN.

[0218] User data, higher-layer control information, and System Information Blocks (SIBs) are transmitted via PDSCH. User data and higher-layer control information may also be transmitted via PUSCH. Furthermore, Master Information Blocks (MIBs) may be transmitted via PBCH.
[0219] Lower-layer control information may be transmitted by PDCCH. The lower-layer control information may include, for example, Downlink Control Information (DCI) which includes scheduling information for at least one of PDSCH and PUSCH.
[0220] Furthermore, the DCI that schedules PDSCH may be called DL assignment, DL DCI, etc., and the DCI that schedules PUSCH may be called UL grant, UL DCI, etc. Furthermore, PDSCH may be read as DL data, and PUSCH may be read as UL data.
[0221] PDCCH detection may utilize a Control Resource Set (CORESET) and a search space. A CORESET corresponds to the resources used to search for DCIs. A search space corresponds to the search area and search method for PDCCH candidates. A single CORESET may be associated with one or more search spaces. A UE may monitor CORESETs associated with a given search space based on the search space configuration.
[0222] A single search space may correspond to one or more PDCCH candidates corresponding to aggregation levels. One or more search spaces may be referred to as a search space set. In this disclosure, "search space," "search space set," "search space configuration," "search space set configuration," "CORESET," and "CORESET configuration" may be interpreted interchangeably.
[0223] PUCCH may transmit uplink control information (UCI) including at least one of channel state information (CSI), delivery acknowledgment information (for example, Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest ACKnowledgement (HARQ-ACK), ACK / NACK, etc.), and scheduling request (SR). PRACH may transmit a random access preamble for establishing a connection with the cell.
[0224] In this disclosure, downlinks, uplinks, etc., may be expressed without the prefix "link." Also, the prefix "physical" may be omitted from the names of various channels.
[0225] In the wireless communication system 1, a synchronization signal (SS), a downlink reference signal (DL-RS), etc., may be transmitted. [0226] The synchronization signal may be, for example, at least one of a Primary Synchronization Signal (PSS) and a Secondary Synchronization Signal (SSS). A signal block including SS (PSS, SSS) and PBCH (and DMRS for PBCH) may be called an SS / PBCH block, SS Block (SSB), etc. Note that SS, SSB, etc. may also be called reference signals.
[0227] Furthermore, in the wireless communication system 1, the uplink reference signal (UL-RS) may include a sounding reference signal (SRS), a demodulation reference signal (DMRS), etc. The DMRS may also be called a user-specific reference signal (UE-specific Reference Signal).

The neurology may be, for example, at least one of the following: subcarrier spacing (SCS), bandwidth, symbol length, cyclic prefix length, transmission time interval (TTI), number of symbols per TTI, radio frame configuration, specific filtering processes performed by the transceiver in the frequency domain, and specific windowing processes performed by the transceiver in the time domain.
[0289] A slot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain (such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) symbols or Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) symbols). Alternatively, a slot may be a time unit based on neurology.
[0290] A slot may include multiple minislots. Each minislot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain. Minislots may also be called subslots. Minislots may consist of fewer symbols than a slot. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted in a time unit larger than a minislot may be called a PDSCH (PUSCH) mapping type A. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted using minislots may be called a PDSCH (PUSCH) mapping type B.
[0291] Wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols all represent units of time when transmitting a signal. Wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols may each be referred to by different names. Furthermore, the units of time such as frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols in this disclosure may be interpreted as interchangeable.
[0292] For example, one subframe may be called a TTI, multiple consecutive subframes may be called a TTI, and one slot or one mini-slot may be called a TTI. In other words, at least one of a subframe and a TTI may be a subframe in existing LTE (1 ms), a period shorter than 1 ms (e.g., 1-13 symbols), or a period longer than 1 ms. Note that the unit representing a TTI may be called a slot, mini-slot, etc., instead of a subframe.
[0293] Here, TTI refers to, for example, the smallest time unit for scheduling in wireless communication. For example, in an LTE system, the base station schedules each user terminal to allocate wireless resources (such as the frequency bandwidth and transmission power available to each user terminal) in TTI units. However, the definition of TTI is not limited to this.
[0294] TTI may be a transmission time unit for channel-encoded data packets (transport blocks), code blocks, code words, etc., or it may be a processing unit for scheduling, link adaptation, etc. When a TTI is given, the actual time interval (e.g., number of symbols) in which the transport block, code block, code word, etc. are mapped may be shorter than the TTI.
[0295] Furthermore, if one slot or one mini-slot is referred to as a TTI, then one or more TTIs (i.e., one or more slots or one or more mini-slots) may constitute the minimum time unit for scheduling. In addition, the number of slots (number of mini-slots) that constitute this minimum time unit for scheduling may be controlled.
[0296] A TTI with a time length of 1 ms may be called a normal TTI, long TTI, normal subframe, long subframe, slot, etc. A TTI shorter than a normal TTI may be called a shortened TTI, short TTI, partial or fractional TTI, shortened subframe, short subframe, mini slot, sub slot, slot, etc.
[0297] Furthermore, long TTIs (e.g., normal TTIs, subframes, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a time length exceeding 1 ms, and short TTIs (e.g., shortened TTIs, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a TTI length less than that of a long TTI but 1 ms or more.
[0298] A Resource Block (RB) is a resource allocation unit in the time domain and frequency domain, and in the frequency domain, it may contain one or more consecutive subcarriers. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be the same regardless of the neurology, for example, 12. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be determined based on the neurology.
[0299] Furthermore, an RB may contain one or more symbols in the time domain and may have the length of one slot, one minislot, one subframe, or one TTI. One TTI, one subframe, etc., may each consist of one or more resource blocks.
[0300] One or more RBs may also be called Physical RBs (PRBs), Sub-Carrier Groups (SCGs), Resource Element Groups (REGs), PRB pairs, RB pairs, etc.
[0301] Furthermore, a resource block may consist of one or more resource elements (REs). For example, one RE may be a radio resource area comprising one subcarrier and one symbol.
[0302] A Bandwidth Part (BWP), also known as a partial bandwidth, may represent a subset of consecutive common resource blocks (RBs) for a given neurology in a given carrier. These common RBs may be identified by an index of the RBs relative to a common reference point of the carrier. The PRBs may be defined and numbered within a given BWP.
[0303] A BWP may include UL BWP (BWP for UL) and DL BWP (BWP for DL). One or more BWPs may be configured within a single carrier for a UE.
[0304] At least one of the configured BWPs may be active, and the UE does not need to assume that it will transmit or receive a predetermined signal / channel outside of the active BWP. In this disclosure, terms such as "cell" and "carrier" may be read as "BWP".
[0305] The structures of wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols described above are merely examples. For example, the number of subframes included in a wireless frame, the number of slots per subframe or wireless frame, the number of minislots included in a slot, the number of symbols and RBs included in a slot or minislot, the number of subcarriers included in an RB, and the number of symbols, symbol length, and cyclic prefix (CP) length within the TTI can be varied in various ways.
[0306] Furthermore, the information, parameters, etc., described in this disclosure may be expressed using absolute values, relative values from a predetermined value, or corresponding other information. For example, wireless resources may be indicated by a predetermined index.
[0307] The names used for parameters and other elements in this disclosure are not restrictive in any way. Furthermore, mathematical formulas and other elements using these parameters may differ from those expressly disclosed in this disclosure. Various channels (PUCCH, PDCCH, etc.) and information elements can be identified by any suitable name, and therefore, the various names assigned to these various channels and information elements are not restrictive in any way.
[0308] The information, signals, etc. described in this disclosure may be represented using any of the various different techniques. For example, the data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, chips, etc. that may be referred to throughout the above description may be represented by voltage, current, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or magnetic particles, optical fields or photons, or any combination thereof.
[0309] Furthermore, information, signals, etc., can be output from upper layers to lower layers and from lower layers to upper layers, or to at least one of the two. Information, signals, etc., may also be input and output via multiple network nodes.
[0310] Input and output information and signals may be stored in a specific location (e.g., memory) or managed using a management table. Input and output information and signals may be overwritten, updated, or appended to. Output information and signals may be deleted. Input information and signals may be transmitted to other devices.
[0311] Any information described in this disclosure (e.g., variables, constants, parameters) may be communicated from any first device (e.g., UE / base station) to any second device (e.g., base station / UE) that indicates / specifies (or relates to) the value of such any information, even if not specifically stated in the embodiments described above.

[0313] Physical layer signaling may also be called Layer 1 / Layer 2 (L1 / L2) control information (L1 / L2 control signals), L1 control information (L1 control signals), etc. RRC signaling may also be called RRC messages, for example, RRC Connection Setup messages, RRC Connection Reconfiguration messages, etc. MAC signaling may also be communicated using, for example, MAC Control Elements (CEs).
[0314] Furthermore, notification of the specified information (for example, notification that "X is the case") is not limited to explicit notification, but may also be made implicitly (for example, by not notifying the specified information or by notifying other information).
[0315] The determination may be made by a value represented by one bit (0 or 1), by a boolean value represented as true or false, or by a numerical comparison (for example, a comparison with a predetermined value).
[0316] Software should be broadly interpreted to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software modules, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executable files, execution threads, procedures, functions, and so on, whether they are called software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description languages, or by any other name.

The time difference between A and B may be approximately zero (immediately after or immediately before). Additionally, a time offset may be applied to the time when A occurs. For example, "A" may be interpreted as "before / after the time offset when A occurs". The time offset (e.g., one or more symbols / slots) may be predetermined or determined by the UE based on notified information.
[0368] In this disclosure, timing, time, duration, time instance, any unit of time (e.g., slot, subslot, symbol, subframe), period, occasion, resource, etc., may be interpreted interchangeably.
