Description

[0001] ZIP flush-mounted screen roller blind system

[0002] The subject of the invention is the ZIP flush-mounted screen roller blind system, a shading solution that integrates the roller blind with the building’s facade or interior, suitable for use in both modern residential and commercial construction, as well as in spaces requiring high aesthetic standards, advanced functionality and increased energy efficiency.

[0003] The prior art includes European patent No. EP0257547A2, which discloses an external roller blind box having a box body with a cross-section resembling the letter U, which delimits the winding chamber for the external roller shutter, and whose legs — which define the outer and inner walls — are fitted on their respective outer sides with a layer, specifically in the form of a lightweight cement-bonded wood wool board, serving as a substrate for plaster. The open underside of the U-shaped box body is closed off by a closing panel attached to the inner wall of the said body, and, as an extension of this, by an inspection cover which can be removed from the outside whilst the roller shutter box is assembled, whereby this cover extends close to the inner side of the outer wall of the box body, leaving an open outlet slot for the roller shutter. The inspection cover is secured directly to the lower part of the closure by means of a detachable locking mechanism.

[0004] German utility model No. DE202012001862U1 is also known, describing integrated LED lighting in a roller shutter system. This utility model describes the use of LEDs in the construction of an external roller shutter to enhance the decorative and functional qualities of the shutter. The solution provides for a special pocket or profile within the roller shutter housing, allowing for the installation of an LED strip. This makes it possible to illuminate the facade or the space around the window when the roller shutter is lowered, thereby enhancing the system’s functionality (a feature of the built-in pocket for LED lighting) without compromising aesthetics - the lighting elements are concealed within the roller shutter’s structure.

[0005] The aim of the invention is to create a modern and integrated flush-mounted ZIP screen roller blind system, which provides an aesthetic, functional and durable shading solution for buildings. This system enables full integration with the facade, eliminating visible mounting components and improving thermal and acoustic insulation. The essence of the invention is the ZIP screen roller blind flush-mounted system, comprising a roller box with a winding mechanism embedded in the building’s facade, together with the shading fabric, characterised in that the roller box has the following components integrally connected to it: a front plaster support and a rear plaster support, whereby the front plaster support is situated on the lower front edge of the roller box and extends outwards, whilst the rear plaster support is situated on the lower rear edge of the roller box and extends inwards, whilst on the upper front edge of the roller box there is a mounting bracket integrated into it, extending upwards; at the same time, there are drilling marks on the inner surface of the roller box, whilst the side edges of the roller box are sealed by side covers; at the same time, a profiled mounting panel fitted with screw fixings is installed inside the roller box, and the screen fabric is fitted with a weight bar.

[0006] Preferably, the roller box is connected via a CLICK snap-fit system to an inspection flap that closes it, fitted with a LED strip pocket.

[0007] Preferably, a seal is fitted to the edge of the rear plaster support.

[0008] Preferably, there are two guide rails positioned opposite each other, the upper edges of which reach the lower surface of the roller box, and each guide rail is fitted with at least one spacer.

[0009] Preferably, each of the guides is secured by a CLICK snap-fit system using a locking profile.

[0010] Preferably, the CLICK snap-fit system comprises at least one guide groove and a corresponding snap-fit catch.

[0011] Preferably, the guides are fitted with a guide rail, inside which is a ZIP guide insert secured to the guide rail via the CLICK snap-fit system.

[0012] Preferably, the inner chamber of the guide has an installation space.

[0013] Preferably, the width of the guide is less than the width of the roller box 1, or the width of the guide is equal to the width of the roller box.

[0014] Preferably, in the case of a guide whose width is equal to that of the roller box, the outer surface of its closing profile is connected to a tear-off wall via weakening lines.Preferably, it comprises a double guide, fitted with two spacer elements, wherein the spacer elements are arranged parallel to one another and connected to the guide via a CLICK snap-fit system.

[0015] Preferably, a vertical guide cable is attached to the side covers. Preferably, it includes at least one LED light.

[0016] Preferably, the LED lighting is mounted in the inspection flap, the installation space, the guides and the closing profile.

[0017] Preferably, a sliding profile is attached to the lower part of the roller box.

[0044] Fig. 14 shows the spacer 18 and the CLICK latching system 11.

[0045] As shown in the figures, the invention incorporates a number of components that significantly improve the functionality, durability and aesthetics of the ZIP flush-mounted screen roller shutter system. The roller box 1 is a key component of the ZIP concealed screen roller shutter system, and its integration with the front 2 and rear plaster support 3 eliminates the need for additional mounting components, which simplifies installation and speeds up fitting. As a result, the box provides a stable substrate for applying plaster and insulation, which translates into greater durability of the fagade and improved thermal insulation of the building. To enhance installation precision, the roller box is fitted with drilling guides 4, which enable quick and accurate drilling of holes, eliminating the need for manual measurement. This solution significantly reduces installation time and minimises the risk of installation errors. The mounting bracket 5, integrated into the roller shutter box, eliminates the need for additional fixings and separate brackets, simplifying the installation process and reducing both installation time and costs. Thanks to its uniform design, the system gains increased durability and resistance to mechanical stress, eliminating potential points of weakness. Furthermore, the aesthetic, smooth surface — free from visible screws and fixing elements — allows for harmonious integration with the fagade, ensuring a modern and professional finish. Furthermore, the seal 16 fitted to the edge of the rear plaster support provides additional thermal and acoustic insulation, effectively reducing the ingress of cold air and moisture into the building. The side covers 6 ensure an aesthetic and durable closure of the box. Meanwhile, the profiled mounting panel 7 ensures the box fits perfectly against the window frame or fagade, eliminating the risk of gaps through which moisture or cold air could penetrate. Combined with the screw fixings 8, this guarantees a secure installation of the structure.

[0046] Another key component of the system is the guide rails 17, which, thanks to the use of a spacer 18, eliminate the need for separate fixing profiles on the fagade. This improves the stability of the structure whilst maintaining its aesthetic appeal. The ZIP flush-mounted screen roller blind system uses two main types of guide rails: small and large. The small guide rail 17a is narrower than the roller box 1, whilst the large guide rail 17b is the same width as the roller box. The small guide rail is a compact solution which, thanks to its small dimensions, allows for easy integration with the building’s fagade, ensuring an aesthetic finish and minimal installation depth. It is used in particular for smaller roller blinds and where installation space is limited. It features front-access installation, which facilitates servicing without interfering with the fagade, and a built-in space for electrical cables. This is a cost-effective solution that reduces production andinstallation costs whilst ensuring high functionality. The large ZIP flush-mounted guide with spacers is a more advanced version, designed for larger glazed areas and systems requiring greater stability and wind resistance. Its larger dimensions allow for the integration of LED lighting, provide more space to conceal power cables and control systems, and enable full cladding and insulation, thereby enhancing acoustic and thermal insulation. It is particularly recommended for large windows, patio doors and facade systems, where structural strength and stability are crucial. In summary, the small guide is suitable for smaller window openings and minimalist installations, offering simple installation and low costs, whilst the large guide is a solution tailored to large dimensions, integration with LED lighting, and maximum durability and functionality. The choice of the appropriate variant depends on the specific nature of the project and the user’s requirements. Alternatively, the invention may utilise a 17c guide rail fitted with two spacer elements 18, arranged parallel to one another and connected to the guide rail via the CLICK snap-fit system. This solution allows for the installation of two independent ZIP roller blinds in a single opening, which is particularly useful for large glazed areas, such as HS windows. Thanks to the CLICK system, installation is quick and aesthetically pleasing, with no visible screws. The system also utilises a guide rail 20, inside which a ZIP guide insert is housed. This arrangement ensures stable fabric guidance and eliminates the risk of deformation. It works in conjunction with the side covers 6, which seal the structure tightly, increasing weather resistance and improving sound insulation. The closing profile 19 used in the system provides an aesthetic and stable finish to the guides, which further increases the system’s durability and load-bearing capacity. The inclusion of a tear-off wall 24 in the guide — which is the same width as the roller box — allows for flexible adaptation of the space for LED lighting without the need for additional profiles. The removable panels are connected to the outer surface of the closing profile via weakening lines 23. The integration of lighting into the system not only improves the aesthetics of the facade but also enhances functionality through subtle backlighting of the roller shutter, eliminating the semi-transparent effect of the fabric after dark. The inclusion of installation space 22 allows the power cables for the motor, controllers and solar batteries to be concealed, eliminating the need to route wiring across the facade and thereby improving the overall aesthetics of the system. However, the invention allows for the omission of guide rails, in which case the system functions as a free-hanging roller blind, as shown in Fig. 8, which illustrates that the screen fabric 9 is guided directly on steel cables 26. In another variant, shown in Fig.

[0047] 9, the screen fabric 9 remains free, and the roller blind is therefore a free-hanging variant. This configuration is particularly useful in spaces where it is not possible or necessary to use side guides, for example during internal installation in suspended ceilings, in window openings with unusual shapes, or in terrace installations where the user prefers a minimalist design. The absence of guides allows the system to be adapted more freely to architectural conditions and offers greater flexibility during installation; at the same time, thanks to the use of the 10 weight bar, the roller blind remains stable even in light breezes, and its lower edge does not curl up or warp.

[0048] The sliding profile with seal 27 is a key component of the ZIP screen roller blind flush-mounted system. Its function is to ensure stable, precise and quiet guidance of the fabric inside the roller box, eliminating rippling, slack and uneven tension. As a result, the fabric maintains the correct tension and an aesthetic appearance in any position, whilst the risk of mechanical damage is significantly reduced. The integrated seal also acts as a damping element, protecting the fabric from abrasion, increasing the system’s durability and improving acoustic comfort.

[0049] The system also features an inspection flap 14, which allows easy access to the interior of the roller box, greatly facilitating maintenance without the need to dismantle the fagade. The inspection flap may additionally include a LED strip pocket 15, allowing for subtle illumination of the roller shutter and the building’s fagade.

[0050] A key feature is the CLICK 11 snap-fit system, which comprises a guide groove 12 and a snap-fit latch 13, eliminating the need for screws and ensuring a quick, precise and aesthetically pleasing connection between components. As a result, installation time is up to a dozen or so times shorter than with traditional systems, and the guides connect invisibly, without any play and without the need for manual adjustment.

[0051] The system also utilises a guide rail 20, inside which is a ZIP guide insert 21 secured to the guide rail via the CLICK snap-fit system. This arrangement of components ensures stable fabric guidance and eliminates the risk of fabric distortion. It works inconjunction with side covers, which seal the structure tightly, increasing resistance to weather conditions and improving sound insulation. In ZIP systems, the side covers work with guides fitted with spacers, which further increases the rigidity of the structure and minimises the possibility of noise and cold air penetration. In systems with side cable guidance, on the other hand, the side panels stabilise the fabric and prevent it from rippling sideways, which translates into greater durability and a more attractive appearance for the roller blind. As a result, the flush-mounted system retains a high level of functionality, regardless of the chosen configuration.

[0052] The system may incorporate LED lighting 25, which can be fitted within the guide rail’s inspection profile and the closing profile. The LED lighting serves a decorative purpose, improves the system’s visibility in the dark and can be controlled remotely, thereby enhancing user comfort and the overall aesthetics of the system.

[0053] Thanks to these components forming part of the invention, the ZIP flush-mounted screen roller blind system offers not only quick and cost-effective installation, but also durability, aesthetic appeal and enhanced energy efficiency.

[0054] The invention will find application across a wide range of construction projects and functional spaces, offering an aesthetic and functional shading solution. In residential construction, it can be used as sunshades for windows and facades of both single-family and multi-family homes, as well as on terraces and loggias, where it provides protection against excessive sunlight and enhances the comfort of outdoor spaces. In commercial spaces and public buildings, the system can be successfully used in office blocks, hotels, restaurants and shopping centres, where its integration with the facade allows for the creation of a modern and cohesive design. It can also be used in the entrance areas of office and commercial buildings, as well as in conference rooms and other premises requiring effective control of daylight. For indoor applications, the system can be fitted into suspended ceilings and ceiling structures, allowing the roller shutter box to be concealed whilst maintaining a minimalist interior design. It is also a suitable solution for modern office layouts, residential spaces and public venues such as museums, art galleries and conference centres.

[0055] Thanks to its modular design, this solution is flexible and adapts to various installation conditions, enabling its use in both facade systems and internal ceilinginstallations. Depending on the user’s needs, variants are available with ZIP rails of various sizes, systems with additional spacing, cable-guided systems or fully free-hanging versions. Integrated LED lighting helps to emphasise the modern appearance of a building’s facade whilst providing additional decorative and functional benefits.

[0056] Thanks to the possibility of installing LED strips in the inspection profile of the box, the installation space of the guides or the closing profile, the system can be used to illuminate facades, window recesses and terrace areas. The system described in the invention, which acts as a covering solution, fully integrates the roller shutter with the building’s facade or its interior.
