Description

[0001] ZIP Integrated Screen Roller Shutter System

[0002] The subject matter of the invention is an integrated ZIP screen roller blind system, constituting an external covering providing protection against the sun, wind, snow, rain and other weather conditions, or an internal sunshade.

[0003] In the prior art, ZIP-type screen roller blind systems are known, which act as sunshades, are wind-resistant and are integrated with interlocking slide guides. For example, the Screenova SCREEN ZIP roller blind from Isotra is well known; it features a special fabric guidance system in the side guides, whilst the ScreenRoll SZ - ZIP system from Vertex S.A. offers a ZIP mechanism designed to ensure the correct fabric tension and safe use even during strong gusts of wind.

[0004] There are also ZIP screen roller blind systems from Heroal, which feature the integration of the fabric with the side guides and the use of a zip mechanism to increase wind resistance. This system is used in products by various roller blind manufacturers, although Heroal is the direct manufacturer of the technology. Heroal ZIP screen roller blinds can be electrically operated, which further enhances user comfort.

[0005] A European invention, No. EP3995664A1, is known in the prior art, describing a screen roller blind assembly comprising a roller box containing a roller tube that allows the screen to be rolled up and down to cover a window or door. The system is fitted with guides featuring a guide slot that holds the side edge of the screen and guides it during the rolling and unrolling movements. The roller box is secured to the structure using a mounting profile, which is fitted at a specified distance, creating a gap between the box and the structure. This profile features locks for easy installation of the roller box and mounting hooks for securing it to the structure. In addition, the profile includes a bottom panel that covers the space beneath the roller box. The system can be extended to include a second screen roller blind in a separate roller box, operated by an integrated double guide rail with two guide slots, each guiding one of the roller blinds. To facilitate installation, the system includes a mounting plate, a connecting profile and an installation component, which ensure the stable fixing of the guides. It is also possible to equip the system with LED lighting, which can be integrated into the roller box or the guides. The European patent EP3312376A1 describes a roller blind comprising two parallel side guides positioned side by side, a roller tube for winding the fabric, which moves between the guides, and a transverse closing strip attached to the fabric and extending between its side ends, which are inserted into the longitudinal slots of the guides. The system is equipped with magnetic coupling elements, the first set of which is attached to the side guides and the second to the crossbar. The second set of magnetic elements has lateral projections extending beyond the guides, which enables them to be magnetically attracted to the first set of coupling elements, ensuring that the crossbar is held securely in the closed position.

[0006] There is also a US invention, No. US2017037682A1, relating to a guide system for a roller blind, in which the side edge of the fabric is guided inside the guide chamber, and a fastening element passes through a slot in the guide. The design allows the screen to move freely along the guide rail, whilst ensuring stability thanks to a clamping mechanism.

[0007] The aim of the ZIP integrated roller screen system is to create a technologically advanced, aesthetically pleasing and functional shading solution that provides effective protection against the sun, wind and other weather conditions, whilst eliminating visible mounting components, streamlining the installation and maintenance process, and increasing the durability and stability of the structure.

[0008] The essence of the invention is the ZIP integrated screen roller blind system, mounted on a supporting structure, comprising a horizontal roller tube, inside which is housed the movable screen roller blind fabric, two vertical ZIP guides, a guide mechanism, as well as cover components and mounting fittings. The ZIP integrated screen roller blind system is characterised by the fact that the projections located at the top of the roller tube are slid onto a concealed mounting bracket, whilst internal side panels, flush with the bracket, are attached to both side edges of the roller tube, holding the roller tube in place inside the roller tube housing. Along the surface of the winding tube there is a cut-out extending from the mounting pocket, curving gently into a full circle, and its internal structure contains stiffeners. One end of the screen roller blind fabric is heat-sealed to a mounting profile fitted within the mounting pocket, whilst the other end of the same screen roller blind fabric is connected via a lower ZIP fastener to an intermediate profilelocated in the lower weight bar. Both side edges of the screen roller blind fabric are heat-sealed to a side ZIP fastener. At the same time, support chambers with installation spaces are located along the entire length of the lower part of the roller box. At the same time, the roller box is connected via an upper CLICK snap-fit connection to the inspection flap that closes it, which is fitted with a stiffening chamber. Inside each of the ZIP guides there is a guide insert containing a side ZIP fastener, and each ZIP guide is closed by a locking profile via a side CLICK snap-fit connection.

[0009] The invention is characterised by the following advantageous features:

The closing profile 22, secured by the CLICK 23 side snap-fit connection, is also shown. The ZIP 14 side lock, which stabilises the screen roller blind fabric 10, is visible.

[0038] Fig. 10 shows the winding tube 6 and the cut-out 7 extending from the mounting pocket 8. The stiffeners 9 located inside the winding tube 6 are shown, as well as the method of attaching the screen roller blind fabric 10 to the mounting profile 11.

[0039] Concealed mounting bracket 1 is a solution that enables quick, precise and neat installation of the roller box 3 without the need to drill holes in the roller shutter box. Thanks to the use of tabs 2 that interlock with the concealed mounting bracket 1, a stable and durable fixing is ensured, without the need for additional fasteners to remove the screen roller blind fabric 10 from the roller tube 6. An additional advantage of the concealed mounting bracket 1 is that there is no need to use a mounting gauge, as its edge, angled at 45 degrees, acts as a natural gauge in its own right, which simplifies and speeds up installation. Thanks to this solution, installing the system becomes quicker and easier, with no risk of measurement errors.

[0040] The internal sides 5, which are also concealed during use, are made of steel, aluminium or metal alloys, which not only improves the system’s aesthetics but also increases its load-bearing capacity. The inner side panels 5 are flush with the roller box 3 and therefore do not protrude beyond the box’s outline. Concealing the inner side panels 5 ensures better integration with pergolas, aluminium and timber structures, and significantly enhances the durability of the entire system.

[0041] The load-bearing chambers 15 of the roller box 3 play a vital role in ensuring the strength and stability of the entire system, whilst also allowing for the installation of additional components, such as guides for sliding glass panels, aluminium shutters, fixed or sliding panels, thereby eliminating the risk of fabric damage caused by screws and providing installation space for the roller shutter drive cabling, LED lighting or automation system controllers. This solution allows for easier and more aesthetically pleasing integration of the system with other products without compromising the structural integrity of the roller box 3, whilst also increasing its resistance to stress and loads, enabling the use of larger roller shutter sizes. The support chambers 15 of the rollerbox 3 improve durability and functionality by reducing the number of additional fixings, maintaining uniform fabric tension and optimising installation processes, making this system flexible and compatible with a wide range of sunshades, patio structures and canopies, giving the user complete freedom to configure and gradually expand the system according to their individual needs.

[0042] Inspection flap 18, fitted with a stiffening chamber 19 which features LED lighting 30, allows for striking illumination of the screen roller blind fabric 10, and also enhances the user’s privacy and improves visual comfort by reducing the fabric’s transparency. Furthermore, it ensures even light diffusion across the entire width of the blind. Thanks to the integrated design, the LED lighting 30 can be fitted without the need for additional profiles. Consequently, the risk of mechanical damage to the system has been eliminated. The slide profile 28 of the inspection flap 18 is fitted with a brush seal 29, which stabilises the screen roller blind fabric 10, reduces friction, prevents dirt from accumulating on the fabric, and acts as a shock absorber to minimise noise, ensuring the entire system operates quietly and smoothly.

[0043] The presence of technical spaces 31 within the ZIP 20 guides, in which the guidemounted LED lighting is situated, along with the tear-out walls 24, ensures a consistent lighting effect across the entire height and width of the blind. This preserves the system’s aesthetics and functionality, as this design enables uniform illumination of the Screen 10 roller blind fabric, enhances user privacy and eliminates the need for additional fitting components, which are quite commonly used in state-of-the-art solutions. As a result, this simplifies not only installation but also the production, logistics and storage processes. Furthermore, the use of tear-out walls 24 allows for the flexible adaptation of ZIP 20 guides to individual requirements, without the need to design separate components. The detachable side panel 24 technology enables the aesthetic and almost invisible integration of lighting, without adversely affecting the design of the entire system.

[0044] The lower end of the screen 10 roller blind fabric is connected via a lower ZIP 12 fastener to an intermediate profile 32, located within the lower weight bar 13. This design ensures optimum tension of the screen 10 roller blind fabric and increases the system’s resistance to strong gusts of wind. The lower weight bar 13 also maximises the product’s aesthetic appeal and durability, whilst simplifying the production and installationprocess. As a PVC profile, the lower weight bar 13 integrates fully with the lower ZIP 12 fastener, which is heat-sealed to the Screen 10 roller blind fabric. Furthermore, when fully raised, the lower weighting bar 13 remains completely concealed within the roller box 3, which enhances the system’s aesthetics and eliminates visible components once the screen 10 roller blind fabric is rolled up , whilst ensuring a minimalist appearance and full functionality of the usable space.

[0045] Inside each of the ZIP 20 guide rails there is a guide insert 21, whilst the side edges of the screen roller blind fabric 10 are heat-sealed to the side ZIP fastener 14, which moves along the guide insert 21. This design ensures the Screen 10 roller blind fabric is guided evenly along its entire height, eliminating the problem of slack and rippling that often occurs in conventional roller blind systems.

[0046] The support chambers 15 of the roller box 3 play a vital role in ensuring the strength and stability of the entire system, whilst also allowing for the installation of additional systems, such as guides for sliding glass, aluminium shutters, fixed or sliding panels, or curtains, thereby eliminating the risk of the fabric being damaged by screws and providing installation space for the roller blind drive cabling, LED lighting or automation system controllers.

[0047] The invention allows for the use of a ZIP 20 guide rail, the width W1 of which is less than the width W2 of the roller box 3. This design has been developed with compactness and functionality in mind, eliminating the need for space for LED lighting, which makes it more cost-effective and allows for a wider installation of the system recess. Its construction allows for the installation of additional coverings, such as sliding glass systems, aluminium shutters or fabric curtains, offering users flexibility in personalising their terrace or pergola space.

[0048] Securing the ZIP 20 guides with 22 cover profiles via the CLICK 23 side snap-fit connection eliminates the need for visible screws and speeds up the installation process. Furthermore, its minimalist design blends seamlessly with the pergola structure, ensuring a modern look and an aesthetically pleasing finish to the recess.

[0049] The ZIP integrated screen blind system utilises an aluminium roller tube 6, whose optimised geometry and special cut-out 7 - extending from the mounting pocket 8 andcurving gently into a full circle - eliminate the effect of horizontal stripes on the screen fabric 10, ensuring better tension and an aesthetic appearance in any position; and thanks to precisely selected material properties and additional stiffeners 9, this tube is characterised by low deflection, which significantly improves the stability of the screen whilst reducing the load on the drive mechanisms. The inner side panels 5 inside the roller box 3 hold the roller tube 6 in a stable position, eliminating unwanted movement, and one end of the screen roller blind fabric 10 is heat-sealed to a mounting profile 11 fitted into a mounting pocket 8, which further improves fabric tension and ensures its permanent connection to the winding system; as a result, the use of this technology eliminates typical operational problems associated with deflection, fabric deformation and strain on the drive.

[0050] The ZIP integrated screen roller blind system is a solution that combines quick and precise installation, aesthetics and functionality. The concealed mounting bracket 1 and the CLICK 17 system eliminate the need for drilling and the removal of the screen fabric 10, whilst the support chambers 15 of the roller box 3 ensure stability and allow integration with LED lighting 30, automation controllers or sliding glass guides. The use of removable panels 24 in the ZIP 20 guides allows them to be flexibly adapted to the user’s needs, whilst the technical spaces within the guides 31 enable the lighting to be concealed in an aesthetically pleasing manner. The inspection flap 18, with its stiffening chamber 19 and LED lighting 30, ensures even illumination of the fabric, enhancing privacy and visual comfort. Optimal fabric tension is ensured by the lower ZIP fastener 12, integrated with the lower weight bar 13, which remains concealed within the roller box 3 when the blind is rolled up. The slide profile 28 in the inspection flap 18, fitted with a brush seal 29, stabilises the fabric, reduces friction and prevents the ingress of dirt.

[0051] In addition, the ZIP screen roller blind system is fitted with a 45-degree angled mounting edge 26 on the concealed mounting bracket 1, which simplifies installation and eliminates the need for additional alignment tools, whilst its side surface is secured with horizontal screws 27. The roller box 3 is also integrated with the retaining profile 36, which features a system pocket with a brush seal 37, improving the seal and reducing contamination within the roller blind mechanism. The lower edge of the inspection flap 18 is additionally fitted with LED lighting 30, which enhances the visual effect and improves the system’s functionality. Each of the ZIP 20 guide rails is sealed at the bottomwith a sealing cap 33, whilst the lower weight bar 13 is sealed on both sides with caps 34 fitted with guide tabs 35, ensuring additional stability and durability. The construction of key components, such as the inner side panels 5, the roller tube 6 and the lower weight bar 13, from aluminium or steel increases resistance to mechanical loads and ensures the long-term durability of the system, whilst the use of an intermediate profile 32 made of PVC, steel or aluminium allows the roller shutter’s performance parameters to be optimised according to installation requirements.

[0052] The system can be successfully used in private spaces, such as terraces, balconies, pergolas or conservatories, where it enhances user comfort. In commercial applications, such as restaurants, hotels or offices, it provides effective protection against the sun and wind, enhancing the aesthetics of the space and enabling its use in all weather conditions.

[0053] The invention will find application as an external screen providing protection from the sun, wind, snow, rain and other weather conditions, or as an internal sunshade.
