Description

TITLE OF INVENTION: BIDET ENHANCERAUTHOR: Jean Ava PollardPROVISIONAL PATENT APPLICATION SPECIFICATIONS BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThis patent claims the priority of 63775592

[0001] The present invention generally relates to the field of water closet accessories and more specifically relates to a bidet enhancer device. Background of the Invention

[0002] Bidets are an increasingly popular bathroom fixture that offers a hygienic alternative to traditional toilet paper. Originating in France during the 17th century, bidets were initially seen as a luxury item for the wealthy but have since evolved into a standard feature in bathrooms across much of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. In recent years, they have gained traction in North America due to their environmental benefits and the growing demand for improved personal hygiene.

[0003] Bidets come in various forms, including standalone fixtures, attachments for existing toilets, and advanced models integrated into toilet seats with features like heated water, air dryers, and even built-in deodorizers.

[0004] One of the primary advantages of using a bidet is the superior cleanliness it provides. Water is more effective at removing residue and bacteria than dry paper, reducing the risk of irritation and infection. This is particularly beneficial for individuals with sensitive skin, hemorrhoids, or other conditions that make wiping with toilet paperuncomfortable. Many users also report feeling fresher and more confident after using a bidet, which can contribute to overall well-being and comfort.

[0005] In addition to its hygiene benefits, bidets are environmentally friendly. The production of toilet paper consumes significant amounts of water, trees, and energy, contributing to deforestation and pollution. By reducing reliance on toilet paper, bidet users can minimize their environmental footprint. Modem bidets typically use less water per use than what is required to produce even a single roll of toilet paper, making them a sustainable choice for eco conscious individuals.

[0006] Bidets can also be cost-effective over time. While the initial investment in a bidet attachment or bidet-integrated toilet may seem high, the savings on toilet paper can quickly add up.

[0007] Further, less reliance on toilet paper means fewer clogged pipes and plumbing issues, potentially saving homeowners money on repairs. For households with children, seniors, or individuals with mobility challenges, bidets can also offer enhanced accessibility and ease of use compared to traditional cleaning methods.

[0008] However, while offering significant benefits for hygiene and sustainability, bidets come with a range of challenges that complicate their adoption and integration into existing bathrooms.

[0009] One of the primary issues is the extensive plumbing and construction often required to install standalone or advanced bidet systems. Many homes, particularly older ones, are not equipped with the necessary plumbing for bidets, requiring costly and invasive renovations. Even for bidet toilet attachments or integrated seats, ensuring proper water pressure and a dedicated outlet for electric models can pose logistical hurdles.

[0010] The manufacturing and materials required for bidets also raise environmental and cost concerns. Producing bidets involves plastic, metals, and electronics, which contribute to environmental degradation and carbon emissions.

[0011] Although bidets aim to reduce toilet paper consumption and its environmental impact, the production footprint of a bidet can offset some of these benefits, particularly for models with advanced features like heating elements, air dryers, and adjustable nozzles. This raises questions about whether the environmental savings over time justify the initial manufacturing cost.

[0012] Cost is another significant barrier for many consumers. High-quality bidets, especially those with advanced features, are often priced well above what many households can afford. Even basic attachments or non-electric models can feel like an unnecessary expense compared to the perceived simplicity and low cost of toilet paper. Furthermore, maintenance costs, including potential repairs or replacement parts, add to the long-term investment required for bidet ownership.

[0013] The design of many bidets includes detached remotes, which, while convenient for controlling features, are not without their drawbacks. These remotes can easily be misplaced, dropped, or even accidentally fall into the toilet, creating frustration for users and potential damage to the device.

[0014] Another issue with modern bidets is that they often lack built-in soap dispensers, which limits their ability to provide a complete cleaning experience. While water alone is sufficient for basic hygiene, the inclusion of soap could enhance cleanliness, particularly for users who prioritize thorough cleaning.

[0015] Additionally, few bidets come equipped with enema attachments, a feature that some users find beneficial for specific health needs. Enema attachments can provide relief for individuals with constipation or other medical conditions, yet they remain a niche offering in the bidet market.

[0016] The lack of such functionality may discourage certain users from investing in a bidet, especially those with specific health requirements that could benefit from this feature.

[0017] The aesthetic and functional integration of bidets into modern bathrooms also poses challenges. Standalone bidets require additional space, which is often unavailable in smaller bathrooms. Even toilet seat attachments can disrupt the visual harmony of a bathroom or create a bulky appearance.

[0018] Accordingly, a suitable solution is desired.Summary of the Invention

[0019] The present invention is directed to a bidet enhancer. The bidet enhancer advantageously addresses the aforementioned deficiencies by providing a simple to install enhancement for a bidet that requires no extensive plumbing and is affordable, easy to assemble, and allows the use of soap or other solutions. Thus, the aforementioned problems associated with prior art bidets are avoided.

[0020] In a first implementation, a bidet enhancer may include: a main body, comprising first, second and third ports having first, second, and third port openings, respectively, the first, second and third port openings arrangeable in fluid communication with an interior space of the main body; at least one bidet enhancer attachment connectable to the third port of the main body, wherein each bidet enhancer attachment comprises a hose and anozzle, wherein the hose is configured to direct fluid flow from the port opening of the third port of the main body to the nozzle, and the nozzle is configured to eject said fluid; and a fluid control valve carried by the main body and operable to switch between: a first configuration, in which the fluid control valve permits fluid communication from the port opening of the first port to the port opening of the third port and blocks fluid communication from the port opening of the first port to the port opening of the second port, and a second configuration, in which the fluid control valve permits fluid communication from the port opening of the first port to the port opening of the second port.

[0021] In a second aspect, in the second configuration of the fluid control valve, the fluid control valve may further permit fluid communication from the port opening of the first port to the port opening of the third port.

[0022] In another aspect, the at least one bidet enhancer attachment may be disconnectably connectable to the third port of the main body.

[0023] In another aspect, the bident enhancer may further include a cap. The cap may be disconnectably attachable to the third port of the main body in lieu of the at least one bidet enhancer attachment.

[0024] In another aspect, the third port may provide a soap water reservoir portion configured to store an amount of water and soap / solution mixture or cleaning substance therein.

[0025] In another aspect, the first and second ports may be coaxially positioned with respect to one another.

[0026] In another aspect, the first and second ports may be arranged facing away from one

[0027] In another aspect, the third port may be arranged adjacent to and spaced apart from the second port.

[0028] In another aspect, each bidet enhancer attachment may be configured to insert between a toilet seat and a toilet bowl of a toilet, such as with the nozzle facing upwardly.

[0029] In another aspect, each bidet enhancer attachment may include a reinforcement. The reinforcement may be positioned along the hose and configured to lie between the toilet seat and the toilet bowl preventing compression of the hose between the toilet seat and the toilet bowl.

[0030] In another aspect, the at least one bidet enhancer attachment may comprise a plurality of bidet enhancer attachments.

[0031] In another aspect, each of the plurality bidet enhancer attachments may include a different type of nozzle.

[0050] The illustrations of FIGS. 1-9 show various views of a bidet enhancer 100, according to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure. With reference initially to FIGS. 1 and 2, the bidet enhancer 100 may include a main body 110, which may define an interior space 122 (shown in FIG. 3). In some embodiments, the main body 110 may be made of two or more parts or portions; for example, the main body 110 of the presentembodiment comprises a first portion 112 and a second portion 114. In some embodiments, such as the present embodiment, the portions 112, 114 are disconnectably attachable to one another; for example, in the present embodiment, the portions 112, 114 are disconnectably attachable to one another by a threaded connection 116 between a female thread 118 and a male thread 120. Alternative embodiments are contemplated, such as embodiments in which the main body 110 is integrally-formed into a single-piece unit. The main body 110 may further include a first port 130, a second port 140 and a third port 150. In some embodiments, the third port 150 may be translucent or transparent. In preferred embodiments, additional areas of the main body 110, and optionally the entire main body 110, may be translucent or transparent.

[0051] As shown in FIGS. 1-3, the first port 130 may include a port opening 132 providing fluid access to the interior space 122 of the main body 110. The first port 130 may extend along a central longitudinal axis 134. In some embodiments, such as the present embodiment, the first port 130 may be generally cylindrical, about the central longitudinal axis 134. Similarly, the second port 140 may include a port opening 142 providing fluid access to the interior space 122 of the main body 110. The second port 140 may extend along a central longitudinal axis 144. In some embodiments, such as the present embodiment, the second port 140 may be generally cylindrical, about the central longitudinal axis 144. In some embodiments, the central longitudinal axes 134 and 144 of the first and second ports 130 and 140, respectively, may be arranged in the same direction (parallel to one another, or the same). For example, the central longitudinal axes 134 and 144 of the present embodiment are the same, such that the second port 140 is arranged in continuation of the first port 130, and the port openings 132 and 142 face away from oneanother. Tn some embodiments, the port openings 132 and 142 may be formed on respective planes which are parallel to one another. As further shown, the first and second ports 130 and 140 may include a respective thread 136 and 146, at or near the respective port opening 132 and 142.

[0052] The third port 150 may similarly include a port opening 152 providing fluid access to the interior space 122 of the main body 110. The third port 150 may extend along a central longitudinal axis 154. In some embodiments, such as the present embodiment, the third port 150 may be generally cylindrical in shape about the central longitudinal axis 154. The central longitudinal axis 154 of the third port 150 may be parallel to the central longitudinal axes 134, 144 of the first and second ports 130, 140. For example, in the present embodiment, as best shown in FIG. 3, the central longitudinal axis 154 of the third port 150 is parallel to -and spaced apart from- the matching central longitudinal axes 134, 144 of the first and second ports 130, 140. The third port 150 is spaced-apart from an adjacent one of the first and second ports 130 by a gap 156; for instance, in the present embodiment, the third port 150 is adjacent to the second port 140 and spaced-apart from the second port 140 by the gap 156.

[0053] As shown in FIGS. 1-3, in some embodiments, the main body 110 may further include a connecting portion 170 interconnecting the third port 150 and the first and second ports 130 and 140. The connecting portion 170 may be arranged along a central longitudinal axis 174 which is arranged at an angle, and more preferably perpendicular to, the central longitudinal axes 134, 144 and 154. In some embodiments, such as the present embodiment, the connecting portion 170 may be generally cylindrical in shape about the central longitudinal axis 174. The connecting portion 170 may end in longitudinallyopposite, first and second ends 176 and 178. The interior space 122 of the main body 110 extends through the first port 130, the second port 140, the connecting portion 170, and the third port 150.

[0054] Turning to FIGS. 3 and 4, in the present embodiment, the connecting portion 170 and first and second ports 130 and 140 are integrally -formed into a single-piece unit (the first portion 122 of the main body 110). In turn, the second portion 114 of the main body 110 is formed by the third port 150 and a threaded collar 160 extending from a bottom of the third port 150. The aforementioned female thread 118 is provided on an inner side of the second end 178 of the connecting portion 170, while the male thread 120 is arranged on an outer side of the threaded collar 160.

[0055] With reference to FIG. 3, in some embodiments, the interior space 122 of the main body 110 at the third port 150 may constitute, or provide, a soap water reservoir space 158. In preferred embodiments, the third port 150, and more specifically, the soap water reservoir space 158, may be wider than the first and second ports 130 and 140; i.e., the diameter D3 of the interior space 122 at the third port 150 may be greater than the diameter DI of the interior space 122 at the first port 130 and greater than the diameter D2 of the interior space 122 at the second port 140.

[0056] In preferred embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the main body 110 may include one or more visible and / or tactile markings 159 (preferably in combination with the third port 150 being translucent or transparent) providing a visual and / or tactile indication of different fill levels of the soap water reservoir space 158. This may facilitate a user refilling the soap water reservoir space 158 with an adequate amount of soap or cleaning substance, in dependence of the user’s preference or the type of use intended(enema, vaginal douche, cleaning the body after a bowel movement, urination, or sexual intercourse, or cleaning the body during the menstrual cycle, for instance and without limitation). In a non-limiting example, the markings 159 may include a first marking at 4- 5 fluid ounces for cleaning internal body areas, and a second marking at 6-12 fluid ounces for external cleaning. In some embodiments, the markings 159 may be present along the entire periphery of the second port 150 about the central longitudinal axis 154.

[0057] As further shown in FIGS. 1-3, the bidet enhancer 100 may include a fluid control valve 190. The fluid control valve 190 is configured to adjust fluid flow within the interior space 122 of the main body 110 between the different ports 130, 140, 150, in accordance with different modes of operation described hereinafter. For instance, in one embodiment, the fluid control valve 190 may include a pivoting valve body or gate 192, which is arranged within the interior space 122 of the main body 110 as shown in FIG. 3. The valve gate 192 may be manually pivotable by operating an accessible portion, lever, or handle 194 of the fluid control valve 190, which is arranged outside the main body 110 and accessible by a hand of a user. For instance and without limitation, the gate 190 and the handle 194 may be integrally-formed into a single-piece unit, as in the present embodiment, which may pivot about a rotation axis 196, as indicated by arrow A. It should be noted that the rotation axis may be placed in different positions, such as positions 196b or 196c, in different embodiments of the invention.

[0058] With continued reference to FIG. 3, the fluid control valve 190 may be configured to adopt several different positions. In a first position of the fluid control valve, shown in solid lines and denoted by reference numeral 190, the fluid control valve 190 is arranged such that the handle 194 is pivoted to a lowest position, and the valve gate 192 is therebypivoted to a highest position at which the valve gate 192 blocks fluid flow into or from the second port 140; i.e., the valve gate 192 blocks fluid flow through the interior space 122 between the first port 130 and the second port 140, and further blocks fluid flow between the connecting portion 170 and the second port and thus between the third port 150 and the second port 140.

[0059] In a second position of the fluid control valve, shown in broken lines and denoted by reference numeral 190’, the fluid control valve 190’ is arranged such that the handle (denoted by reference numeral 194’) is pivoted upward to an intermediate position, and the valve gate (denoted by reference numeral 192’) is thereby pivoted downward to an intermediate position at which the valve gate 192’ does not block fluid flow between any of the ports 130, 140, 150; i.e., fluid is allowed between the first port 130, the second port 140, the connecting portion 170, and the third port 150.

[0060]

[0060] In a third position of the fluid control valve, shown in broken lines and denoted by reference numeral 190”, the fluid control valve 190” is arranged such that the handle (denoted by reference numeral 194”) is pivoted further upward to a highest position, and the valve gate (denoted by reference numeral 192”) is thereby pivoted downward to a lowest position at which the valve gate 192 blocks fluid flow into or from the first port 130; i.e., the valve gate 192 blocks fluid flow through the interior space 122 between the second port 140 and the first port 130, and further blocks fluid flow between the connecting portion 170 and the second port and thus between the third port 150 and the second port 140.

[0061] In some embodiments, alternatively or additionally to the first, second and third positions, the fluid control valve 190 may adopt one or more further positions. Forinstance, in a preferred embodiment, the fluid control valve 190 may adopt a position in which valve blocks fluid from passing from the first port 130 to the third port 150, while allowing fluid to flow from the first port 130 to the second port 140; for instance, the valve (shown in phantom lines and indicated with reference numeral 190a) may be pivotable about alternative rotation axes 196b or 196c and may be positionable across, and sealing, the open first end 176 of the connecting portion 170 of the main body 110.

[0062] In some embodiments, the bidet enhancer 100 may further include a cap 200, which may be selectively positioned in a closed position (shown for instance in FIGS. 1-3) and an open position (FIG. 7) in which the cap 200 prevents and allows access to the port opening 152 of the third port 150, respectively. As shown in FIG. 7, in some embodiments, such as the present embodiment, the cap 200 is securable to the third port 150 by a threaded connection 202, such as between a female thread 204 of the cap 200 and a male thread 162 of the third port 150 may be attached to the third port 150 in the closed position to temporarily cover the port opening 152 of the third port 150 such that fluid is prevented from passing through the port opening 152. In some embodiments, the cap 200 may be configured to fluid-tightly seal the port opening 152.

[0063] As further shown in FIG. 7, the bidet enhancer 100 may further include at least one bidet enhancer attachment 210a, 210b, and more preferably, a plurality of bidet enhancer attachments 210a, 210b. Each of the plurality of bidet enhancer attachments 210a, 210b may include a respective, flexible tubular body or hose 212. The hose 212 may have a first end 214 and a second end 216. In an intermediate section of the hose 212, a reinforcement 218 may extend along the hose 212, preferably along an outer side of the hose 212. For instance and without limitation, the reinforcement 218 may comprise a sleeve which isfitted over the hose 212. The reinforcement 218 may be significantly more rigid than the hose 212 and configured to prevent the hose 212 from flattening. For instance and without limitation, the reinforcement 218 may be made of hard plastic or metal (e.g., stainless steel).

[0064] The first end 214 of the hose 212 may be attached to and extend from an adapter cap 220. The adapter cap 220 may be constructed generally the same as the cap 200, with the exception that the adapter cap 220 includes an opening 222 arranged in fluid communication with the hose 212 to allow fluid to pass through the opening 222 and into the hose 212. The cap adapter 220 thus may include a female thread 224 which, similarly to the female thread 204 of the cap 200, may disconnectably thread to the thread 162 of the third port 150.

[0065] In turn, the second end 216 of the hose 212 may include a nozzle. As shown in FIG.7, each of the plurality bidet enhancer attachments 210a, 210b may include a different type of nozzle 226a, 226b. For example, a first bidet enhancer attachment 210a may be relatively thin and elongated, and configured to facilitate using the nozzle 226a to carry out an enema. In a further example, a second bidet enhancer attachment 210b may be used to carry out a vaginal douche, and for such purposes, may be relatively shorter and provided with a plurality of side openings 228. The invention may be further used, such as with the present nozzles 226a, 226b or alternative or additional nozzles, to clean the body after a bowel movement, urinating, sexual intercourse, or during the menstrual cycle, for instance and without limitation.

[0066] The illustrations of FIGS. 5-9 show a first illustrative mode or method of operation of the bidet enhancer 100 of the present disclosure. In this first illustrative method ofoperation, an existing toilet installation comprising a toilet 300 and a bidet appliance 320 is retrofitted with the bidet enhancer 100 of the present disclosure. With reference initially to FIG. 5, the toilet 300 may be of the kind that includes a toilet bowl 302 and a tank 306. A toilet seat 304 may be positionable on the toilet bowl 302. The tank 306 is configured to store an amount of water and to flush the water into the toilet bowl 302. The tank 306 may include a water port or inlet 308, which may be threaded, i.e. provided with a thread 310. In turn, the bidet appliance 320 may include a main body 322, a control unit 324, and a water inlet 326; as known in the art, the control unit 324 may be operable (such as via buttons 328) to allow a user to selectively start / stop a water flow from the water inlet 326 to the main body 322. When the water flow is activated, the main body 322 ejects the water received via the water inlet 326 into the toilet bowl 302. The existing toilet installation may further include a first and second water lines 340 and 342 in fluid communication with the water inlets 308 and 326 of the toilet 300 and the bidet appliance 320, respectively. More specifically, respective first ends 348 of the water lines 340, 342 may be connected (e.g., threaded) to respective ports of the valve or fitting 346. The water lines 340 and 342 may be further connected to a wall connection 344 via a valve or fitting 346, allowing the wall connection 344 to supply water to the water lines 340 and 342 via the valve or fitting 346. For example, respective second ends 350 of the water lines 340, 342 may be connected to the water inlets 308 and 326 of the tank 306 and the bidet appliance 320, respectively. For example, the second end 350 of the first water line 340 may include a thread 352 configured to thread to the thread 310 of the water inlet 308 of the tank 306. Similarly, the second end 350 of the second water line 342 may include a thread (not shown) configured to thread to a thread (not shown) of the water inlet 326 ofthe bidet appliance 320. In some embodiments, the valve or fitting 346 may include one or more fluid shut-off or control valve mechanisms allowing to open / close fluid flow towards each one of the first and second water lines 340, 342.

[0067] As shown in FIG. 5, in order to install the bidet enhancer 100 in the existing toilet installation, a user may disconnect the first water line 340 from the water inlet 308 of the toilet bowl 302 by unthreading the thread 352 of the first water line 340 from the thread 310 of water inlet 308 of the tank 306. Next, the user may position the main body 110 of the bidet enhancer 100 between the second end 350 of the first water line 340 and the water inlet 308 of the tank 306, such that the first port 130 faces the second end 350 of the first water line 340 and the second port 140 faces the water inlet 308. The user may then connect the second port 140 of the main body 110 to the water inlet 308 by threading the thread 146 of the second port 140 to the thread 310 of the water inlet 308. Subsequently, the second end 350 of the first water line 130 may be connected to the first port 130 of the main body 110 by threading the thread 352 of the second end 350 to the thread 136 of the first port 130.

[0068] As shown in FIG. 6, the main body 110 is thereby mounted to the toilet installation, with the cap 200 fluid-tightly covering the port opening 152 of the third port 150. The fluid control valve may be arranged in the second position, as denoted by reference numeral 190’ (as heretofore described with reference to FIG. 3), in which the fluid control valve 190’ does not block fluid flow between any of the ports 130, 140, 150; consequently, fluid flow is enabled from the first port 130 to the second port 140 allowing the toilet installation to function normally (i.e. allowing the first water line 340 to supply water to the tank 306).

[0069] Turning to FIGS. 7 and 8, the bidet enhancer 100 may be switched to an alternative or working configuration in which a selected bidet enhancer attachment (for example, bidet enhancer attachment 210a as shown in FIG. 8) may be connected to the third port 150 and the bidet enhancer 100 may be operated to eject water on the user via the selected bidet enhancer attachment. In order to switch the bidet enhancer 100 to this alternative configuration, as shown in FIG. 7, the user may switch the fluid control valve to the third position (indicated in FIG. 3 by reference numeral 190”) to block fluid entry from the first port 130. The user may then unthread the cap 200 from the third port 150 by unthreading the threaded connection 202, and remove the cap 200 from the main body 110 of the bidet enhancer 100 as indicated by arrow B. Next, the user may dispense a cleaning solution, soap / solution mixture, or cleaning substance into the soap water reservoir space 158. The user may then attach the selected bidet enhancer attachment (e.g., bidet enhancer attachment 210a) to the third port 150 by threading the thread 224 of the adapter cap 220 of the selected bidet enhancer attachment to the thread 162 of the third port 150. It should be noted that, while the illustration of FIG. 8 specifically shows bidet enhancer Pattachment 210a connected to the third port 150, a similar assembly may be achieved by instead connecting bidet enhancer attachment 210b to the third port 150.

[0070] Once the selected bidet enhancer attachment (e.g., bidet enhancer attachment 210a) has been connected to the third port 150, and with the toilet seat 304 pivoted upward, as shown in FIG. 6, the hose 212 of the selected bidet enhancer attachment may be deployed over the rim of the toilet bowl 302 and into the toilet bowl 302. The toilet seat 304 may then be pivoted downward over the hose 212, as shown in FIG. 8. The hose 212 is now arranged such that the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment (e.g., nozzle 226aof bidet enhancer attachment 210a) is positioned inside the toilet bowl 302. As shown in the cross-sectional view of FIG. 9, in this arrangement of the hose 212, the reinforcement 218 is positioned between the toilet seat 304 and the toilet bowl 302 along a majority of the width W of the toilet seat 304 and the toilet bowl 302 and is generally undeformable, thereby imparting rigidity to the flexible hose 212 such that the flexible hose 212 does not become flattened when positioned under the toilet seat 304, including when a person sits on the toilet seat 304. It should be noted that bidet enhancer attachment 210b may be installed in the same manner as bidet enhancer attachment 210a.

[0071] In the working configuration of the bidet enhancer 100 shown in FIG. 8, the user may operate the handle 194 to switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to the second position 190’ (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow from the first port 130 to both the second port 140 and the third port 150, in which case water will fill the tank 306 and also be ejected from the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment (e.g., nozzle 226a of bidet enhancer attachment 210a). Alternatively, the user may choose to switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to the first position 190 (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow solely from the first port 130 to the third port 150, in which case water will be exclusively ejected from the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment (such as with a more noticeable pressure in dependence of available water pressure at the wall connection 344). In either case, the user may direct the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment towards their body to carry out a cleaning or other water based procedure using the ejected water (which may include the aforementioned cleaning substance). For example, in the event of using bidet enhancer attachment 210a, the nozzle 226a may facilitate performing an enema. Instead, should bidet enhancer attachment 210bbe used, the corresponding nozzle 226b may facilitate carrying out a vaginal douche. As noted hereinabove, these nozzles 226a, 226b or alternative nozzles may be used in other situations or needs, such as cleaning the body after a bowel movement, urinating, sexual intercourse, or during the menstrual cycle.

[0072]

[0072] As heretofore described, alternative embodiments are contemplated in which the fluid control valve may be alternatively positioned or designed. In some embodiments, as indicated for instance by reference numeral 190a in FIG. 3, the valve may be positioned such that water may solely flow from the first port 130 to the second port 140. Should the user position the fluid control valve in this position 190a in the working configuration of FIGS. 8 and 9, water will not be ejected out of the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment and will instead be solely used to fill the tank 306.

[0073] The illustration of FIG. 10 shows a second illustrative mode or method of operation of the bidet enhancer 100 of the present disclosure. In this second illustrative method of operation, an existing toilet installation is used which is generally the same as the initial toilet installation of FIGS. 5-9, with a few exceptions. Namely, in the toilet installation of FIG. 10, the second water line 342 is not connected to the wall connection 344; instead, a water T-adapter 360 is connected to the water inlet 308 of the tank 306, and the second end 350 of the first water line 340 and the first end 348 of the second water line 342 are connected (e.g., threaded) to the water T-adapter 360. In turn, the second end 350 of the second water line 342 is initially connected to the water inlet 326 of the bidet appliance 320.

[0074] Starting from this existing toilet installation, a user may shut off fluid flow from the wall connection 344 to the first water line 340 at the valve or fitting 346, or otherwise shutoff fluid flow at the wall connection 344. Next, the user may disconnect (e.g., unthread) the second end 350 of the second water line 342 from the water inlet 326 of the bidet appliance 320 and mount the bidet enhancer 100 therebetween. Prior to this step, Specifically, as shown in FIG. 10, the first port 130 of the bidet enhancer 100 may be connected to (e.g., threaded) to the second end 350 of the second water line 342 and the second port 140 of the bidet enhancer 100 may be connected to (e.g., threaded) to the water inlet 326 of the bidet appliance 320. The bidet enhancer 100 may be initially fitted with the sealing cap 200, and the fluid control valve positioned in thes third position, indicated by reference numeral 190”, thereby blocking fluid entry from the second water line 342 through the first port 130.

[0075] Next, as was heretofore described with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8, the user may unthread and remove the cap 200 from the third port 150, dispense a cleaning solution or substance into the soap water reservoir space 158, attach a selected bidet enhancer attachment 210a or 210b to the third port 150, and position the hose 212 of the selected bidet enhancer attachment as heretofore described with reference to FIG. 9. The user may then switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to the second position 190’ (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow from the first port 130 to both the second port 140 and the third port 150, in which case water will flow into the bidet appliance 320 via the water inlet 326 and also be ejected from the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment. Alternatively, the user may choose to switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG.3) to the first position 190 (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow solely from the first port 130 to the third port 150, in which case water will be exclusively ejected from the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment.

[0076] As heretofore described, alternative embodiments are contemplated in which the fluid control valve may be alternatively positioned or designed. In some embodiments, as indicated for instance by reference numeral 190a in FIG. 3, the valve may be positioned such that water may solely flow from the first port 130 to the second port 140. Should the user position the fluid control valve in this position 190a in the working configuration of FIG. 10, water will not be ejected out of the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment and will instead be solely directed to the water inlet 326 of the bidet appliance 320, allowing the setup to operate as originally conceived (prior to installing the bidet enhancer 100).

[0077] The illustration of FIG. 11 shows a third illustrative mode or method of operation of the bidet enhancer 100 of the present disclosure. In this third illustrative method of operation, an existing toilet installation comprising a toilet 300 is retrofitted with the bidet enhancer 100 of the present disclosure. The toilet 300, water T-adapter 360, and water lines 340, 342 may be configured as heretofore described. The second water line 342 may be connected to the first port 130 of the bidet enhancer 100 and establish fluid communication from the water T-adapter to the first port 130. In this way, the water T-adapter 360 is set up to direct incoming water from the first water line 340 simultaneously to the water tank 306 and the bidet enhancer 100.

[0078] The toilet bowl 302 may include a water inlet 370 for directing water towards the toilet bowl interior, such as to provide an existing bidet-type functionality. Prior to installing the bidet enhancer 100, the second water line 342 may have been initially connected (e.g., threaded) to the water inlet 370 to supply water thereto. In the present mode of operation of the bidet enhancer 100, the second water line 342 has beendisconnected from the water inlet 370 and the bidet enhancer 100 has been positioned therebetween; the second water line 342 has then been connected (e.g., threaded) to the first port 130 of the bidet enhancer 100, and the water inlet 370 has been connected (e.g., threaded) to the second port 140 of the bidet enhancer 100. The bidet enhancer 100 may be initially fitted with the sealing cap 200, and the fluid control valve positioned in the third position, indicated by reference numeral 190”, thereby blocking fluid entry from the second water line 342 through the first port 130.

[0079] Next, as was heretofore described with reference to FIGS. 3) to allow water to flow from the first port 130 to both the second port 140 and the third port 150, in which case water will flow into the toilet 300 via the water inlet 370 and also be ejected from the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment. Alternatively, the user may choose to switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to the first position 190 (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow solely from the first port 130 to the third port 150, in which case water will be exclusively ejected from the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment.

[0080] As heretofore described, alternative embodiments are contemplated in which the fluid control valve may be alternatively positioned or designed. In some embodiments, as indicated for instance by reference numeral 190a in FIG. 3, the valve may be positionedsuch that water may solely flow from the first port 130 to the second port 140. Should the user position the fluid control valve in this position 190a in the working configuration of FIG. 11, water will not be ejected out of the nozzle of the selected bidet enhancer attachment and will instead be solely directed to the water inlet 370, allowing the setup to operate as originally conceived (prior to installing the bidet enhancer 100).

[0081] The illustration of FIG. 12 shows a fourth illustrative mode or method of operation of the bidet enhancer 100 of the present disclosure. In this fourth illustrative method of operation, the bidet enhancer 100 is mounted between the wall connection 344 and the water tank 306 of a toilet 300 lacking a bidet appliance. For instance, opposite first and second ends 382 and 384 of a first water line 380 may be connected (e.g., threaded) to the valve or fitting 346 of the wall connection 344 and the first port 130 of the bidet enhancer 100, respectively. Additionally, opposite first and second ends 392 and 394 of a second water line 390 may be connected (e.g., threaded) to the second port 140 of the bidet enhancer 100 and the water inlet 308 of the tank 306, respectively. The bidet enhancer 100 may be initially fitted with the sealing cap 200 (as described with reference to FIG. 6), and the fluid control valve may be initially arranged in the second position, indicated by reference numeral 190’, thereby allowing fluid to be supplied into the water tank 306 so that the toilet 300 may operate normally.

[0082] Next, as was heretofore described with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8, the user may switch the valve to the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to block fluid entry through the first port 130, and then unthread and remove the cap 200 from the third port 150, dispense a cleaning solution or substance into the soap water reservoir space 158, attach a selected bidet enhancer attachment to the third port 150, and position the hose 212 of the selectedbidet enhancer attachment as heretofore described with reference to FIG. 9. The user may then switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to the second position 190’ (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow from the first port 130 to both the second port 140 and the third port 150. Alternatively, the user may choose to switch the valve from the third position 190” (FIG. 3) to the first position 190 (FIG. 3) to allow water to flow solely from the first port 130 to the third port 150.

[0083] In some embodiments, as shown, the bidet enhancer attachment may include a fluid control or shut-off valve 240 which may be operated by the user (e.g., via a button 242) to selectively allow or prevent fluid flow all the way to the nozzle (e.g., nozzle 226a). In some embodiments, such as the depicted example, the valve 240 is positioned along the hose (e.g., hose 212a). In preferred embodiments, more specifically, the valve 240 is positioned proximally of the reinforcement 218, i.e. the reinforcement 218 is arranged between the valve 240 and the nozzle (e.g., nozzle 226a); this allows the valve 240 to remain readily accessible outside the toilet bowl 302 when the hose 212 is extended between the toilet bowl 302 and the toilet seat 304 as heretofore described with reference to FIG. 9. It should be noted that any one of the bidet enhancer attachments 212a, 212b may be provided with such a fluid control or shut-off valve 240, and that such fluid control or shut-off valve 240 is applicable to any one of the aforementioned operating methods of FIGS. 5-11. Furthermore, it is contemplated that the method or mode of operation of FIG.12 without the bidet enhancer 100 including such fluid control or shut-off valve 240.

[0084] As heretofore described, alternative embodiments are contemplated in which the fluid control valve may be alternatively positioned or designed. In some embodiments, as indicated for instance by reference numeral 190a in FIG. 3, the valve may be positionedsuch that water may solely flow from the first port 130 to the second port 140. Should the user position the fluid control valve in this position 190a in the working configuration of FIG. 12, water will not be directed towards the selected bidet enhancer attachment and will instead be solely directed to the water inlet 370, allowing the setup to operate as originally conceived (prior to installing the bidet enhancer 100).

[0085] As shown in Figure 13, the body member can be adapted with heating coils that are operationally connected with an automated control module that maintains the temperature of the fluid within the body member to a user specified temperature. The bidet enhancer can be remotely controlled through a wireless device in electronic communication with the automated control module. Additionally, the flow control valve can be remotely controlled in the same manner. The power source to the automated control module can be a battery that can be charged through a USB charger.

[0086] Since many modifications, variations, and changes in detail can be made to the described preferred embodiments of the invention, it is intended that all matters in the foregoing description and shown in the accompanying drawings be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense. Furthermore, it is understood that any of the features presented in the embodiments may be integrated into any of the other embodiments unless explicitly stated otherwise. The scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.
