Abstract

For 6G systems, new preamble formats are proposed to accommodate even lower bandwidths, further improving uplink CNR and communication reliability in NTN scenarios. These new preamble formats feature flexible frequency and time domain resource occupation, depending on the subcarrier spacing (SCS) and preamble sequence length, and can span multiple slots based on network configuration. The proposed methods address critical challenges in random-access processes, uplink link budget optimization, and GNSS error calculation. In one aspect, the invention proposes methods for designing back-to-back preambles, data-back-to-preamble and cyclic prefix (CP) designs for PRACH preambles where the CP duration is set to integer multiples of 144 preambles, with various subcarrier spacings (SCS), including 1.25 kHz, 2.5 kHz, 3.75 kHz, 5 kHz, 7.5 kHz, 15 kHz, and larger than 15 kHz. These methods ensure efficient and reliable random-access procedures, reducing latency and improving overall user experience. Additionally, the invention introduces methods for GNSS error calculation method, which is critical for accurate positioning and synchronization in wireless communication systems. This method improves the precision of error estimation, enabling more reliable network operations.

Description

NEW PREAMBLE FORMATS AND RELATED ISSUESFIELD

[0001] The invention discussed below relates generally to wireless communication, and more particularly, to methods for initial access and preamble designs.BACKGROUND

[0002] In communication system, the process of random-access is critical for initiating communication, as it allows the UE to signal its presence to the network, receive timing and frequency adjustments, and secure a communication channel. Here we outline issues to ensure quick and reliable network entry, reducing latency and improving overall user experience.

[0003] The uplink link budget is also not particularly favorable due to significant path loss and limited UE power. To further improve the uplink link budget, based on the link budget formula: CNR = TX EIRP + G / T -K -PL -10*LOG10 (BW) , we can consider enhancing the uplink SNR by Bandwidth reduction.

[0004] In 6G, new preamble formats can be considered corresponding to even lower bandwidths. By adopting new preamble formats with lower bandwidths, the uplink CNR can be further improved, leading to better communication performance and reliability in 6G NTN scenarios. 6G proposes two new preamble formats with different mapping methods NF0-NF8: The frequency domain resource occupation depends on the subcarrier spacing (SCS) and the preamble sequence length. The time domain occupation is flexible and can span multiple slots, depending on the network configuration.SUMMARY

[0005] The following presents a simplified summary of one or more aspects in order to provide a basic understanding of such aspects. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated aspects, and is intended to neither identify key or critical elements of all aspects nor delineate the scope of any or all aspects. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of one or more aspects in a simplified form as a preclude to the more detailed description that is presented later.

[0006] In one aspect, the method of back to back preamble of PRACH SCS 1.25 kHz, 2.5 kHz, 3.75 kHz, 5 kHz, 7.5 kHz, 15 kHz and larger than 15 kHz are proposed.

[0007] In one aspect, the method of data back to preambles preamble of PRACH SCS 1.25 kHz, 2.5 kHz, 3.75 kHz, 5 kHz, 7.5 kHz, 15 kHz and larger than 15 kHz are proposed.

[0008] In one aspect, the method of the CP for the preamble equals to integer times of 144 Ts preamble of PRACH SCS 1.25 kHz, 2.5 kHz, 3.75 kHz, 5 kHz, 7.5 kHz, 15 kHz and larger than 15 kHz are proposed.

[0009] In another aspect, the method of GNSS error calculation method is proposed.

[0010] To the accomplishment of the foregoing and related ends, the one or more aspects comprise the features hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims. The following description and the annexed figures set forth in detail certain illustrative features of the one or more aspects. These features are indicative, however, of but a few of the various ways in which the principles of various aspects may be employed, and this description is intended to include all such aspects and their equivalents.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0132] ● The frequency domain resource occupation depends on the subcarrier spacing (SCS) and the preamble sequence length.

[0133] ● The preamble sequence length can be LRA and the frequency resource occupied BW can be following table.

[0134] ● The time domain occupation is flexible and can span multiple slots, depending on the network configuration.

[0135] ● The preamble can have N repetitions, where N can be configured in SIB / RRC / MAC CE / DCI.

[0136] In another aspect of the disclosure, the method of new preamble format for SCS >= 15 kHz (e.g., 15 / 30 / 60 / 120 / 240 / 480 / 960 kHz) is proposed wherein Ts = 1 / 30720 msec. More specifically, we propose to consider the following alternative:

[0137] Proposal #6: a method of new preamble format for SCS >= 15 kHz

[0138] Alternative 1: back to back preambles (the CP of second preamble can be seen as full of GP for the first preamble)

[0139] Note for Proposal 6 Alternative 1:

[0140] ● TCP = [30720 or (144+2048) *14] *duration of preamble (ms) -TSEQ, and TGP = 0.

[0141] ● The frequency domain resource occupation depends on the subcarrier spacing (SCS) and the preamble sequence length.

[0142] ● The preamble sequence length can be LRA and the frequency resource occupied BW can be following table.

[0143] ● The time domain occupation is flexible and can span multiple slots, depending on the network configuration.

[0144] ● The preamble can have N repetitions, where N can be configured in SIB / RRC / MAC CE / DCI.

[0145] Alternative 2: data back to preamble (the CP of data can be seen as part of GP for the preamble)

[0146] Note for Proposal 6 Alternative 2:

[0147] ● TCP = TGP + CP of data (144 / 160) , and TCP+TGP = [30720 or (144+2048) *14] *duration of preamble (ms) -TSEQ.

[0148] ● The frequency domain resource occupation depends on the subcarrier spacing (SCS) and the preamble sequence length.

[0149] ● The preamble sequence length can be LRA and the frequency resource occupied BW can be following table.

[0150] ● The time domain occupation is flexible and can span multiple slots, depending on the network configuration.

[0151] ● The preamble can have N repetitions, where N can be configured in SIB / RRC / MAC CE / DCI.

[0152] Alternative 3: the CP for the preamble equals to integer times of 144 Ts

[0153] Note for Proposal 6 Alternative 3:

[0154] ● TCP ≈ TGP, where TCP = integer times of 144 and TCP =144*ROUND ( (TCP+TGP)  / 144 / 2) , and TGP = [30720 or (144+2048) *14] *duration of preamble (ms) -TSEQ-TCP

[0155] ● The frequency domain resource occupation depends on the subcarrier spacing (SCS) and the preamble sequence length.

[0156] ● The preamble sequence length can be LRA and the frequency resource occupied BW can be following table.

[0157] ● The time domain occupation is flexible and can span multiple slots, depending on the network configuration.

[0158] ● The preamble can have N repetitions, where N can be configured in SIB / RRC / MAC CE / DCI.

[0159] In another aspect of the disclosure, the method of GNSS error calculation is proposed. More specifically, we propose to consider the following alternative:

[0160] Proposal #7: a method of GNSS error calculation

[0161] For scenarios where GNSS is known with limited GNSS error, the GNSS error restrictions should be calculated according to the equations following with the minimum elevation angle, orbit height, the CP length of preamble.

[0162] For example, as is shown in figure 5, when the minimum elevation angle = 45 deg, orbit height = 550 km, the CP length of preamble= 1728, the supported GNSS error ≈ 6 km.
