[0048] Furthermore, the steps of a method or algorithm described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be embodied directly in hardware, in firmware, in a software module executed by processor modules 214 and 236, respectively, or in any practical combination thereof. The memory modules 216 and 234 may be realized as RAM memory, flash memory, ROM memory, EPROM memory, EEPROM memory, registers, a hard disk, a removable disk, a CD-ROM, or any other form of storage medium known in the art. In this regard, memory modules 216 and 234 may be coupled to the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively, such that the processors modules 210 and 230 can read information from, and write information to, memory modules 216 and 234, respectively. The memory modules 216 and 234 may also be integrated into their respective processor modules 210 and 230. In some embodiments, the memory modules 216 and 234 may each include a cache memory for storing temporary variables or other intermediate information during execution of instructions to be executed by processor modules 210 and 230, respectively. Memory modules 216 and 234 may also each include non-volatile memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively.

[0049] The network communication module 218 generally represents the hardware, software, firmware, processing logic, and / or other components of the base station 202 that enable bi-directional communication between base station transceiver 210 and other network components and communication nodes configured to communication with the base station 202. For example, network communication module 218 may be configured to support internet or WiMAX traffic. In a typical deployment, without limitation, network communication module 218 provides an 802.3 Ethernet interface such that base station transceiver 210 can communicate with a conventional Ethernet based computer network. In this manner, the network communication module 218 may include a physical interface for connection to the computer network (e.g., Mobile Switching Center (MSC) ) . The terms “configured for, ” “configured to” and conjugations thereof, as used herein with respect to a specified operation or function, refer to a device, component, circuit, structure, machine, signal, etc., that is physically constructed, programmed, formatted and / or arranged to perform the specified operation or function.

[0050] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model (referred to herein as, “open system interconnection model” ) is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems (e.g., wireless communication device, wireless communication node) open to interconnection and communication with other systems. The model is broken into seven subcomponents, or layers, each of which represents a conceptual collection of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI Model also defines a logical network and effectively describes computer packet transfer by using different layer protocols. The OSI Model may also be referred to as the seven-layer OSI Model or the seven-layer model. In some embodiments, a first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, a second layer may be a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, a third layer may be a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, a fourth layer may be a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, a fifth layer may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, a sixth layer may be a Non Access Stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer being the other layer.

[0051] 2. Systems and Methods for Positioning and Sensing Authorization

[0052] Sensing and positioning may include at least one of a UE or a TRP receiving and measuring reference signals (RS) (e.g., positioning reference signals (PRS) , sounding reference signals (SRS) , sensing reference signals, etc. ) and reporting the measurement result and / or estimation result to a network or another entity (e.g., another UE) . For AI positioning, AI sensing, and / or sensing calibration, measurement information and at least one of a UE or sensing objects’ location can be paired. However, in conventional positioning and sensing, the measurement information and / or location information of at least one of the UE, TRP, or sensing object is sensitive information, and access to such sensitive information may be provided following authorization. The present disclosure provides detailed enhancements on authorization processes and providing data for, but not limited to, AI positioning, AI sensing and / or sensing or positioning calibration.

[0053] Background for Implementations 1 and 2

[0054] FIG. 3 illustrates an example communication network 300, according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. In an uplink positioning process, as shown in FIGS. 3-4, a UE 302 (e.g., UE 104, 204) can transmit at least one SRS 402. A TRP 304 (e.g., BS 102, 202) can measure the received SRS 402 and report the measurement result to a location management function (LMF) 404. The UE 302 can be or include a positioning reference unit (PRU) . The UE 302 can herein be referred to as UE / PRU 302. The TRP 304 can be a gNB 304, and can herein be referred to as gNB 304. The gNB 304 can, at 406, obtain the measurement results from the SRS 402 (406) .

[0055] For AI or ML (e.g., AI and ML, AI, ML, AI / ML, etc. ) training in connection with location-based positioning protocol (LPP) , new radio positioning protocol A (NRPPa) , or radio resource control (RRC) for sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration, as shown in at least FIG. 4 (e.g., case 3A) , the gNB 304 can, at 408, collect multiple training data sets to train the AI model. The multiple training data sets can include the measurement results of multiple SRS 402. The format of the training data sets can be {measurement information, label} . The measurement information can be measured by gNB 304, the label can be provided by UE 302 or PRU 302 or LMF 404. The calculation of label information can be based on UE 302 or PRU 302 location information or positioning information.

[0056] For AI or ML (e.g., AI and ML, AI, ML, AI / ML, etc. ) positioning, the AI model can generate an inference based on the SRS 402 at 410. The gNB 304 can report the measurement result to LMF 404 at 412 where the measurement result is an inference by an AI model. The measurement result can be intermediate features. The intermediate features can include at least one or more of: timing information (e.g., relative time of arrival (RTOA) , round-trip time (RTT) , time of flight (TOF) , etc. ) , angle information (e.g., angle of arrival (AOA) , zenith angle of arrival (Z-AOA) ) , power information (e.g., reference signal received power (RSRP) , reference signal received path power (RSRPP) , etc. ) , phase information (e.g., received signal code power (RSCP) , phase difference, etc. )

[0057] The gNB 304 can receive at least one of multiple label or intermediate feature (s) or location information of different UE 302 or PRUs 302 {Label #1, Label #2, …, Label #N} , and perform multiple measurements on different UE 302 or PRUs’ 302 SRS 402 {Measurement #1, Measurement #2, …, Measurement #M} . The gNB 304 can pair each label information with each measurement for AI or ML model training, at 408. The paired label and measurement can refer to a same UE 302 or PRU 302 at a same location. A UE 302 or PRU 302 can be efficiently identified via UE or PRU ID. In the present disclosure, the ID of UE 302 or PRU 302 and / or the location of UE 302 or PRU 302 and / or the intermediate feature (s) of a UE 302 or PRU 302 (or a pair of UE 302 or PRU 302 and a TRP 304 or gNB 304) may not be disclosed to gNB 304 considering privacy of the UE 302 or PRU 302. The LMF 404 can estimate a location of the UE 302 or PRU 302 based on the AI or ML model inference.

[0058] For AI or ML positioning, as seen in FIG. 5 (e.g., case 3B) , the gNB 304 can report the measurement result to LMF 404 at 502. The measurement result can be an inference by the AI or ML model. In model training phase, the LMF 404 can collect multiple training data sets to train the AI or ML model. The format of the training data can be {measurement information, label} . The measurement information can be measured by TRP 304 or gNB 304. The label can be provided by UE 302, PRU 302, or LMF 404. The calculation of label information can be based on UE 302 or PRU’s 302 location information or positioning information.

[0059] To disclose UE’s 302 ID or location or intermediate feature to gNB 304, sensing function (SF) , LMF 404, or a core network (CN) , a request or inquiry can be transmitted to the UE 302. The request can be an authorization request or inquiry. The authorization request or inquiry can be to one or more of the following which can be exposed (e.g., transmitted) to gNB 304, SF, LMF 404, or CN: UE’s 302 ID, UE’s 302 location information, UE’s 302 intermediate feature, UE’s 302 local ID, UE’s 302 encrypted ID, UE’s 302 Subscription Permanent Identifier (SUPI) , UE’s 302 Subscription Concealed Identifier (SUCI) .

[0060] The gNB 304 can be replaced by TRP or a NG-RAN node. The LMF 404 can be replaced by a SF, CN, Unified Data Management (UDM) , or access and mobility management (AMF) . The UE 302 can be replaced by positioning reference unit (PRU) or sensing reference (SRU) .

[0093] The range information can include at least one of: one or more cell ID (s) , one or more cell ID list (s) , or one or more location ranges.

[0094] The one or more cell ID or cell ID list or location range can be associated with different information type (s) (e.g., fifth information) .

[0095] For example, the request or inquiry can include {cell ID list #1, information type #1} , {cell ID list #2, information type #2} , which can indicate that the UE 302 within cell ID list #1 requested for the authorization of information type #1.

[0096] Specifically, the request or inquiry can include one or more Boolean values. The value can be set as 1 or true in response to the corresponding information type being requested. Otherwise, the values can be set as 0 or false. The request or inquiry can be broadcast or unicast or group cast.

[0108] The UE 302 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the gNB 304.

[0109] First Response:

[0110] The UE 302 can report, send, transmit, or otherwise provide a response (e.g., the authorization of one or more information types) to gNB 304 at 906. The authorization report can be requested by gNB 304 or not requested by gNB 304. Alternatively, the UE 302 can report the information to gNB 304 (if authorized) . The information can refer to the content of information type.

[0111] The gNB 304 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization from the UE 302.

[0112] Second Response:

[0113] The gNB 304 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide a response (e.g., the authorization result of UE 302) to LMF 404 at 908. The authorization can include at least one of:number of authorized UE 302, information type of authorized UE 302, content of information type (if authorized) , or Boolean values of UE 302 authorization result (s) .

[0114] The UE 302 or the LMF 404 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization result from the gNB 304.

[0115] Benefits of Implementations 1 and 2

[0116] For privacy control, systems of FIGS. 5-9 can be engineered to protect user privacy by employing privacy controls that mitigate direct correlation of SRS 402 resource ID, SRS 402 resource set ID and / or SRS 402 sequence IDs for UE 302 identification. Additionally, multiple TRP 304 IDs can be included in the request and / or report, further enhancing privacy measures. All privacy-related computations and identifications can be processed and managed by a central node (e.g., central unit (CU) or gNB 304) , ensuring a coordinated and secure framework for handling sensitive information.

[0117] In response to solely relying on PRUs 302 for training data collection or model monitoring, the volume of data amassed can be insufficient for comprehensive analysis or robust training. Obtaining UE 302 authorization can enrich the dataset and enhance model accuracy. Upon securing the authorization, UE 302 IDs can be accessed, thereby enabling the systems of FIGS. 5-9 to ascertain which UE 302 the measurements correspond to. This direct correspondence (e.g., association, relationship, etc. ) between measurements and individual UEs 302 significantly improves data relevance and model performance by enriching the data set for model training.

[0118] Background for Implementations 3 and 4

[0119] Referring now to FIG. 10, in a sensing process, a sensing reference unit (SRU) 1002 can be adopted to calibrate environment information such as transmitter and receiver’s phase error, frequency error, etc. For AI or ML sensing, the training data or monitoring data can include paired channel measurement information and sensing result. The sensing result can include or be SRU’s 1002 location, movement, and Radar Cross Section (RCS) , etc. As shown in FIG. 10, the sensing reference signal can be transmitted by TRP2 304, reflected by SRU 1002, and received by TRP1 304 and TRP3 304. TRP1 304 and TRP3 304 can perform channel measurement. The channel measurement can be associated with SRU’s 304 location, movement, and / or RCS can be used for calibration or AI or ML model training or monitoring.

[0120] The data format used for sensing calibration or AI or ML model training or monitoring can be:

[0121] { [Receiver 1’s measurement, Receiver 2’s measurement, …, Receiver N’s measurement, etc. ] , [SRU’s location, SRU’s movement, SRU’s RCS, etc. ] }

[0122] The entity that performs calibration or AI or ML model training or monitoring can be SF 404 or LMF 404, gNB 304 or NG-RAN node 304 or TRP 304 or UE 302 or PRU 302.

[0123] Implementation 3: Network Side Calibration

[0124] For LMF 404 or SF 404 (e.g., network side) calibration or model training or monitoring, TRP 304 or UE 302 can report the measurement information to LMF 404 or SF 404, and SRU 1002 can report the sensing result or status information to LMF 404. The sensing result can include at least one of SRU’s 1002 location, velocity or speed, direction, RCS, size, shape, or another attribute. The LMF 404 can pair the reported measurement information and sensing result or status information. In such cases, the following flows can be considered:

[0125] FIG. 11 illustrates a first signaling diagram 1100 for network side calibration.

[0126] Request:

[0127] The SF 404 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the request or inquiry to SRU 1002 at 1102. The request or inquiry can include the information type and / or range information (e.g., associated, pre-defined) . The information type can include at least one of: SRU’s 1002 ID, SRU’s 1002 location information, velocity or speed, direction, RCS, size, shape, SRU’s 1002 local ID, SRU’s 1002 encrypted ID, SRU’s 1002 virtual ID, SRU’s 1002 SUPI, or SRU’s 1002 SUCI. The request or inquiry can include or be an authorization request or inquiry.

[0128] The range information can include at least one of: one or more cell ID (s) , one or more cell ID list (s) , or one or more location ranges. The one or more cell ID or cell ID list or location range can be associated with different information type (s) .

[0129] For example, the request or inquiry can include {cell ID list #1, information type #1} , {cell ID list #2, information type #2} , which can indicate that the SRU 1002 within cell ID list #1 requested for the authorization of information type #1.

[0130] Specifically, the request or inquiry can include one or more Boolean values. The value can be set as 1 or true in response to the corresponding information type being requested, Otherwise, the values can be set as 0 or false. The request or inquiry can be broadcast or unicast or group cast.

[0131] The SRU 1002 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the SF 404.

[0132] Response:

[0133] The SRU 1002 can report, send, transmit, or otherwise provide a response (e.g., the authorization of one or more information types) to SF 404 at 1104. The authorization report can be requested by SF 404 or not requested by SF 404. For example, the SRU 1002 can report the authorization absent a request from the SF 404. Alternatively, the SRU 1002 can report the information to SF 404 and / or UE 302 or TRP 304 (if authorized) . The information can refer to the content of information type.

[0134] Specifically, the report can include one or more Boolean values. The value can be set as 1 or true or ACK in response to the corresponding information type being authorized to provide. Otherwise, the value of the corresponding information type can be set as 0 or false or UE responds NACK. The SF 404 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization from the SRU 1002.

[0135] Information transmission:

[0136] The SF 404 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide or configure SRU’s 1002 information to UE 302 or TRP 304 (if authorized) at 1106. The information can refer to the content of information type. The UE 302 or TRP 304 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the information from the SF 404.

[0176] The UE 302 or TRP 304 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization from the SRU 1002.

[0177] Implementation 5: Authorization of TRP or UE location

[0178] For UE 302 or gNB 304-based sensing / positioning, UE 302 or gNB 304 can know the location information of SRS (e.g., SRS 402) or Sensing RS transmitter’s location. The transmitter can be TRP 304 and / or UE 302.

[0179] In some cases, TRP 304 or UE’s 302 location information can include privacy information. The TRP 304 or UE 302 may be not willing to expose their location information to other entities. Consequently, an authorization process can be performed.

[0180] FIG. 18 is a first signaling diagram 1800 of authorization of TRP 304 or UE 302 location.

[0181] Request:

[0182] The UE 302 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the request or inquiry to TRP 304 at 1802. The request or inquiry can include the information type and / or range information. Detailed information of the request can be same as described in respect to FIG.

[0183] 11. The request or inquiry can include or be an authorization request or inquiry.

[0184] The TRP 304 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the UE 302.

[0185] Response:

[0187] Specifically, the report can include one or more Boolean values. The value can be set as 1 or true or ACK in response to the corresponding information type being authorized to provide. Otherwise, the value of the corresponding information type can be set as 0 or false or UE 302 responds NACK.

[0188] The UE 302 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization from the TRP 304.

[0189] FIG. 19 is a second signaling diagram 1900 of authorization of TRP 304 or UE 302 location.

[0190] First Request:

[0191] The UE 302 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the request or inquiry to LMF 404 or SF 404 at 1902. The request or inquiry can include the information type and / or range information. Detailed information of the first request can be same as described in respect to FIG. 11. The request or inquiry can include or be an authorization request or inquiry.

[0192] The LMF 404 or SF 404 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the UE 302.

[0193] Second Request:

[0194] The LMF 404 or SF 404 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the request or inquiry to TRP 304 at 1904. The request or inquiry can include the information type and / or range information. Alternatively, LMF 404 or SF 404 can identify the TRP 304 that satisfy the range information, and can send authorization to TRP 304. The authorization can include the authorize indicator and / or the information type. The request or inquiry can include or be an authorization request or inquiry.

[0195] The TRP 304 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the LMF 404 or SF 404.

[0196] First Response:

[0197] The TRP 304 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide a response (e.g., the authorization of one or more information types) to SF 404 or LMF 404 at 1906. The authorization report can be requested by UE 302, SF 404, or LMF 404 or not requested by UE 302, SF 404, or LMF 404. Alternatively, TRP 304 can send the information to SF 404 or LMF 404 (if authorized) . The information can refer to the content of information type.

[0198] Specifically, the report can include one or more Boolean values. The value can be set as 1 or true or ACK in response to the corresponding information type being authorized to provide. Otherwise, the value of the corresponding information type can be set as 0 or false or UE 302 responds NACK.

[0199] The SF 404 or LMF 404 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization from the TRP 304.

[0200] Second Response:

[0201] LMF 404 or SF 404 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide a response (e.g., the authorization result) of TRP 304 to UE 302 at 1908. The authorization can include at least one of: number of authorized TRP 304, information type of authorized TRP 304, content of information type (if authorized) , or Boolean values of UE 302 authorization result (s) (e.g., sixth information) .

[0202] In some embodiments, the TRP 304 can be replaced by UE 302, UE 302 can be replaced by TRP 304, i.e., TRP 304 can request authorization of other TRP 304 or UE 302, UE 302 can request authorization of the UE 302 or TRP 304.

[0203] The UE 302 or TRP 304 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization result from the LMF 404 or SF 404.

[0204] Implementation 6: Authorization of Surrounding UE or Node Information

[0205] In some cases, there can several UEs 302 located in a certain area. These UE 302 can be connected with radio access technology (RAT) , such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc. UE 302 can send the authorization report of other UEs 302 or its surrounding UEs 302 to a network 2002 (e.g., gNB 304 or core network) . A flow can be shown in FIG. 20 for authorization of surrounding UE 302 or node information:

[0206] Surrounding UE 302 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the authorization report (e.g., third information, sixth information) to a UE 302 at 2004, and / or UE 302 can send the authorization report to the network 2002 at 2006. More specifically, the authorization report can be associated with at least one of: UE 302 ID, location, cell ID, public land mobile network (PLMN) , an indicator.

[0207] The UE 302 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization report from the surrounding UE 302. The network 2002 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the authorization report from the UE 302.

[0208] The indicator can indicate whether the UE 302 is authorized for sensing. In response to being authorized, communication signals can be used for sensing purposes. Otherwise, communication signals may not be used for sensing.

[0209] Alternatively, the network 2002 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the request or inquiry of other UE 302 to a UE 302, and then UE 302 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide the request or inquiry to other UE 302.

[0210] The UE 302 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the network 2002. The other UE 302 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the request from the UE 302.

[0211] Implementation Example 7: Authorization of Cached or Stored Information

[0212] In some cases, UE 302 or TRP 304 can store or cache some of measurement information for future use, where other TRP 304 or UE 302 can apply for the use of stored or cached measurement information.

[0213] Before TRP 304 or UE 302 can request TRP 304 or UE 302 data from LMF 404 or SF, 404 the identity of the requester can be verified. There can be at least two conditions for TRP 304 or UE 302 to successfully obtain stored data: (1) Requester TRP 304 or UE 302 can be authorized to access the stored information and (2) The requested TRP 304 or UE 302 can allow the requester to access the stored information

[0214] For requester’s authorization, TRP 304, UE 302, LMF 404, or SF 404 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide a second request (e.g., first information) to LMF 404 or other TRP 304 or UE 302. The second request can be used for the TRP 304 or UE 302 to request authorization of the stored data (e.g., second data type) in LMF 404, SF 404, TRP 304, or UE 302. Alternatively, the second request can be associated with one or more TRP 304 ID or UE 302 ID, LMF 404, or SF 404 indicator, indicating that the stored data in specific TRP 304 or UE 302 or in LMF 404 or SF 404 can be requested. Alternatively, the request can be associated with information type. The second request or inquiry can include or be an authorization request or inquiry.

[0215] The LMF 404, TRP 304, or UE 302 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the second request from the TRP 304, UE 302, LMF 404, or SF 404. In response, TRP 304, UE 302, LMF 404, or SF 404can send, transmit, or otherwise provide a second response (e.g., third information) to TRP 304, UE 302, LMF 404, or SF 404. The second response can include whether the request is allowed. Alternatively, the second response can be associated with the content of one or more information type. The TRP 304, UE 302, LMF 404, or SF 404 can retrieve, identify, or otherwise receive the second response from the TRP 304, UE 302, LMF 404, or SF 404.

[0216] In some cases, UE 302 or TRP 304 may not be expected to access (stored or raw) sensing data. The sensing data can be in a core network. The network 2002 can provide UE 302 or TRP 304 with processed sensing data, instead of raw sensing data.

[0217] Implementation 8: Authorization of History Information

[0218] For the current location and ID, UE 302 or TRP 304 may not be willing to provide their information due to privacy concerns. Compared to the current location, historical information may have looser privacy requirements. Therefore, in the above request or response process, additional authorization permission for historical information can be indicated. In response to authorization for historical information being allowed, LMF 404 or SF 404 can send the UE 302 or TRP’s 304 historical location information to TRP 304 or UE 302.

[0219] In the request or inquiry and / or report, at least one of the following can be included. An indicator can be associated with the request or report. The indicator can indicator whether the request or report is for history information (e.g., record of UE 302 or TRP 304 location, first information) . One or more times (e.g., time spans) can be associated with the request or report. The time can indicate that the information within the time can be requested or reported.

[0220] Alternatively, the above request or inquiry and / or report procedure can be used for history information authorization. The authorization information may include the time allowed for authorization, such as data obtained 1 hour prior to the current time.

[0221] If TRP 304 or UE 302 can know that a certain UE 302, SRU 1002, or TRP 304 can allow delayed location authorization, TRP 304 or UE 302 can cache its channel measurements in advance when performing sensing or channel measurements, and pair the cached channel measurements with the location of the UE 302 or SRU 1002 for training or calibration in response to receiving the location.

[0222] In response to authorization being allowed, LMF 404 or SF 404 can include multiple locations and timestamps in response to sending location information to TRP 304 or UE 302. The timestamps can be absolute time or relative time compared to the current time.

[0223] Implementation 9: Associated Information of Request or Response

[0224] Time stamp, time duration and response time (e.g., first information) of the authorization can include:

[0225] In the request or inquiry and / or report, one or more time stamp (s) and / or one or more time duration (s) can be attached. The time stamp (s) and / or time duration (s) can indicate the validity period of the request or inquiry and / or the report.

[0226] Alternatively, the request or inquiry can be associated with a response time, which can indicate the response are expected to be reported within the response time (e.g., to specify when the response should be sent) (e.g., first information) . The response time can indicate the maximum response time as measured between receipt of the response and transmission of an request.

[0227] More specifically, in response to the time stamp (s) and / or time duration (s) being associated with the request, the authorization of UE 302, TRP 304, or SRU’s 1002 information at the requested time and / or within the time duration (s) can be requested. In response to the time stamp (s) and / or time duration (s) being associated with the response, the UE 302, TRP 304, or SRU’s 1002 information can be provided or authorized at the requested time and / or within the time duration (s) .

[0228] In some cases, the UE 302, TRP 304, or SRU 1002 information may not be authorized at the request time, but after a period of time, the requested UE 302, TRP 304, or SRU 1002 information may become authorized. The response can be sent without receiving the request or with receiving the request after a period of time.

[0229] Authorized entity:

[0230] SRU 1002, TRP 304, or UE’s 302 information can be authorized to UE 302, TRP 304, LMF 404, or SF 404. The response (e.g., third information) can be associated with one or more indicator (s) , and can indicate which entity is authorized to get SRU 1002, TRP 304, or UE’s 302 information. Alternatively, the request or response can be associated with one or more PLMN.

[0231] Authorized type (e.g., different types of authorization) :

[0232] In an authorization flow, authorization type (e.g., first information or third information) can be attached with the request or response. The authorization type can include at least one of: Authorization allowed; Authorization not allowed; Authorization partially allowed; Implicit information allowed; Implicit information not allowed; Explicit information allowed; or Explicit information not allowed.

[0233] Alternatively, the response or request can be associated with a source of location or measurement information. The source of location or measurement information can be associated with one or more of the following:

[0234] Smart Channel Estimation Algorithms: Smart channel estimation algorithms can be used for UE 302 and TRP 304 interactions in high-speed mobility scenarios which can enhance signal transmission efficiency and accuracy. These algorithms can rapidly adjust parameters based on real-time environmental changes to optimize received signal quality.

[0235] Multi-Beam Antenna Localization Technique: Utilizing a multi-beam antenna system at the TRP 304 or UE 302 for precise localization can be another implementation of the present disclosure. By dynamically adjusting the direction and power distribution of different beams, more accurate positioning services can be achieved even in complex wireless environments.

[0236] Sensor-Fusion Based Position Estimation Method: Combining data from various sensors embedded in UEs 302 or PRUs 302 or TRPs 304, such as gyroscopes and accelerometers, with external wireless signal information can improve position estimation accuracy. This approach can leverage the strengths of multiple data sources to mitigate errors from individual sensors.

[0237] Machine Learning-Powered Position Prediction Models: Training machine learning models using historical location data can enable prediction of a position of the UE 302 at a future point in time. This predictive capability can be invaluable for preemptive resource scheduling or strategic communication path planning.

[0238] The above methods can be signaled with bit indication. In response to the corresponding bit being set as 1, the authorization information using corresponding methods can be requested or reported. For the request, in response to the corresponding bit being set to 1, the corresponding methods can be preferred or requested for authorization.

[0239] Among the above requested) types (e.g., authorization types) , including request for (e.g., authorization of) cached or stored information, history information, source of the information, location of the information, location information, or measurement information corresponding to the requested time or area or type. The requester may send multiple requests (e.g., authorization requests) . For example, in a sensing procedure, SF 404 or LMF 404 or TRP 304 can request for the location and movement of a SRU 1002 or UE 302 within multiple time stamps. However, in some cases, SRU 1002 may only provide a part of the requested information (e.g., some information may expose privacy details of the SRU 1002 or UE 304) . SRU 1002 or UE 304 may select one or some of the requested items for active response (e.g.., authorize for part of the requested items, and other parts of the requested items are not authorized) . Subsequently, an issue may arise with selection of which part to prioritize. To determine the priority and selection of the authorization part, the following can be considered:

[0240] Priority indicator can be associated with each request or the requested item. For example, the location information at time T1, T2 can be requested and the Doppler information at area A1, A2 can be requested. Location information at time T1 can be associated with priority indicator P1, Location information at time T2 can be associated with priority indicator P2, Doppler information at area A1 can be associated with priority indicator P3, and Doppler information at area A2 can be associated with priority indicator P4. The UE 302 or SRU 1002 can provide authorization response with priority descending order. For example, indicator with smaller value (e.g., 1 or 2) indicates higher priority.

[0241] Priority indicator can be associated with the time at which a request is received the requested time. More specifically, the priority indicator can be determined by:

[0242] where k is a scaling factor, Tc is the time at which the request (e.g., authorization request) is sent or received, Tr is the time at associated with each request, and Tu is the time unit. In some cases, Tu or k is equal to 1, or configured by the requester or determined by the receiver. In general, requests that are closer to the current time have higher priority.

[0243] Priority indicator can be associated with the distance between the requested area and the current area of the authorization target or response entity. More specifically, the priority indicator can be determined by:

[0244] where k is a scaling factor, and Du is a distance unit. In some cases, Du or k is equal to 1, or configured by the requester or determined by the receiver, and D is the distance between the requested and current area of the response entity or the authorization target.

[0245] In response to multiple requests being triggered or transmitted, the requests can be in priority descending order or ascending order. Then, the receiver can provide authorization response with higher priority considering the order of the received requests.

[0246] The requester and / or receiver can assign privacy exposure levels for different requested types. The receiver can provide or report the total acceptable privacy exposure level. For example, the location information at time T1, T2 can be requested and the Doppler information at area A1, A2 can be requested. Location information at time T1 can be associated with exposure level L1, Location information at time T2 can be associated with exposure level L2, Doppler information at area A1 can be associated with exposure level L3, and Doppler information at area A2 can be associated with exposure level L4. The acceptable privacy expose level can be LT, where the total privacy exposure level of reported or authorized information can be less than the acceptable privacy exposure level. For example, Location information at time T1 and Location information at time T2 can be authorized, and LT can be greater than or equal to a sum of L1 and L2 (e.g., LT>=L1+L2) . Alternatively, the privacy exposure level can be associated with the time at which the request is received and the requested time, and / or associated with the distance between the requested area and the current area of the authorization target or response entity. The privacy exposure level can be determined by:

[0247] Background for Implementation Example 10

[0248] In AI or ML positioning, TRP 304 or NG-RAN node 304 can perform model inferences and report the timing information to LMF. The reported timing information can be:

[0249] Relative time of arrival (RTOA) for physical line-of-sight (LOS) link (e.g., same meaning as legacy RTOA) , single-TRP 304 construction, or one AI or ML model for one link individually, or

[0250] RTOA for virtual LOS link (e.g., different meaning compared to legacy RTOA) , multi-TRP 304 construction, or one AI or ML model covers multiple links jointly

[0251] Implementation Example 10: Associated Information of Authorization Request or Response

[0252] For virtual LOS link, RTOA can be derived by combining channel measurement information of multiple TRPs 304.

[0253] For each RTOA measurement report (from NG-RAN node 304 to LMF 404) , one or more of the following information can be included in the report: One or more TRP 304 ID; or Virtual LOS indicator, which can indicate whether the current report is for virtual LOS link.

[0254] LMF 404 can send, transmit, or otherwise provide request to NG-RAN node 304. The request can include the report type (e.g., request type) . The report type can include type 1 or type 2 or an indicator. For example, indicator =1 means timing information of physical link is requested. Indicator=0 can indicate timing information of virtual link is requested.

[0255] Distributed unit (DU) (e.g., in gNB 304) can report, send, transmit, or otherwise provide the channel measurement or RTOA or timing information to central unit (CU) (e.g., in gNB 304) . The CU can combine the collected information and report the information to LMF 404.

[0256] It should be understood that one or more features from the above implementation examples are not exclusive to the specific implementation examples, but can be combined in any manner (e.g., in any priority and / or order, concurrently or otherwise) .

[0272] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as “first, ” “second, ” and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0273] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0274] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as “software” or a “software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0275] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0276] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0277] In this document, the term “module” as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according to embodiments of the present solution.

[0278] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It will be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it will be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.

[0279] Various modifications to the embodiments described in this disclosure will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein can be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of this disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown herein, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the novel features and principles disclosed herein, as recited in the claims below.
