Other features will be apparent from the description and drawings, and from the claims.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGSFIG. 1 shows a procedure in S1-AP (S1 Application Protocol) to trigger to set up or release a new SRB signaling based on some implementations of the disclosed technology.FIG. 2 shows an example wireless communications network based on some implementations of the disclosed technology.FIG. 3 is a block diagram of an example of a wireless communication apparatus based on some implementations of the disclosed technology.FIGS. 4-9 are example flowcharts of a wireless communication method based on some implementations of the disclosed technology.DETAILED DESCRIPTIONThe disclosed technology provides implementations and examples for supporting voice and emergency traffics in wireless communications. For NB-IoT (Narrowband-Internet of Things) UE (User Equipment) , voice traffic and emergency traffic are not supported. The disclosed technology provides some solutions how to support voice traffic or emergency traffic for the NB-IoT UE.Various implementations of the disclosed technology are discussed in detail below with reference to accompanying drawings. The description provided for a specific embodiment is applicable to other embodiments, unless there is a technical conflict when incorporating that description. In various implementations, packet / signaling may refer to i) the packet or ii) the signaling or iii) both the packet and the signaling, and the term, “transmission” can be used to cover both packet and signaling and thus the term, “transmission” can also refer to i) the packet or ii) the signaling or iii) both the packet and the signaling.New SRB (Signaling Radio Bearer Supporting Voice / Emergency Transmission)The disclosed technology suggests a new SRB through which UE transmits voice packet or SIP voice packet, or voice signaling including IMS signaling or SIP signaling, or emergency traffic packets. The new SRB is different from SRB1, SRB1bis, SRB2 and other SRBs which exist in the conventional arts in that the new SRB allows the NB-IoT UE to transmit the voice / emergency transmission. The new SRB is related with a special logical channel ID.The new SRB is used to transmit the RRC (radio resource control) message carrying the NAS PDU of voice packets and / or voice signaling and / or emergency signaling. The SRB can be designed one or more of as follows:-One new SRB is for voice packets.-One new SRB is for emergency traffic packets.-One new SRB is for voice packets and voice signaling.-Two new SRBs are used such that one new SRB is for voice packet, one new SRB is for voice signaling. The RRC message may correspond to a new RRC message as further discussed in more detail below, or ULInformationTransfer, DLInformationTransfer, or other messages. If the new SRB is configured or enabled, the RRC message carrying the NAS PDU including of voice packets and / or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets is transmitted in this new SRB. If the new SRB isn’ t configured or enabled, the RRC message carrying the NAS PDU including voice packets or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets is transmitted in SRB1bis or SRB1.Configuration of New SRBIn some implementations, the new SRB has the RLC UM mode configuration, and no PDCP configuration. The RLC UM mode refers to the Unacknowledged Mode (UM) of the RCL (Radio Link Control) protocol. The PDCP configuration refers to the set of parameters that define how the Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer operates in a cellular network, such as LTE or 5G NR. The new SRB is used for the transmission of voice packet or emergency traffic packets. In order to decrease the transmission delay, RLC UM mode is used. In some implementations, the encryption / decryption or header compression for voice packet or emergency traffic packets is performed in NAS layer, hence, no PDCP is configured. In some implementations, the new SRB has the RLC UM mode configuration, and PDCP configuration including discard timer. The new SRB is used for the transmission of voice packet or emergency traffic packets. In order to decrease the transmission delay, RLC UM mode is used. And the encryption / decryption or header compression for voice packet is performed in NAS layer, hence, the PDCP configuration doesn’ t include the configuration of encryption / decryption or header compression. However, in order to discard outdated SDUs and avoid the overflow in UE buffer, the discard timer is enabled, and its length is configured. In some implementations, the new SRB has the RLC AM mode configuration, and no PDCP configuration. The new SRB is used for the transmission of voice signaling. In order to ensure correct transmission, RLC AM mode is used. And the encryption / decryption or header compression for voice packet or emergency traffic packets is performed in NAS layer, hence, no PDCP is configured. In some implementations, the new SRB has the same configuration as SRB1bis. Both of SRB1bis and the new SRB are for RRC messages (which may include a piggybacked NAS message) as well as for NAS messages prior to the activation of security, all using DCCH logical channel. Hence, the new SRB has the same configuration as SRB1bis. The new SRB has the RLC AM mode configuration, and no PDCP configuration. The new SRB is used for the transmission of voice signaling.Establishing of New SRBThe configuration of the new SRB is included in RRC establishment message. The network can determine whether to configure a new SRB for the UE based on the establishment reasons reported by the UE, and if needed, eNB can configure the new SRB via the RRC establishment procedure. For example, UE reports the establishment reason such as voice / emergency transmission, eNB may decide to indicate the configuration of the new SRB in RRCConnectionSetup, RRCConnectionResume message. For UE, the new SRB is established according to the configuration of the network. The network can determine whether to configure a new SRB for the UE based on the information from the core network as further discussed below. After determining to configure the new SRB for the UE, eNB may configure the UE to setup new SRB in RRC reconfiguration procedure or RRC establishment procedure. The possible implementations for assisting eNB to setup or release new SRB are provided in the below. In the description below, the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT refers to a procedure and message type used to carry Non-Access Stratum (NAS) messages from the Core Network to the User Equipment (UE) .In some implementations, the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT includes some information about the NAS PDU carried in the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT. While in the conventional art, DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message is used to transfer NAS PDU that does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packet, the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message according to the implementations of the disclosed technology can be used to transfer NAS PDU that includes any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packet as well as the NAS PDU that does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packet. In this patent document, the NAS PDU that does not include any of the voice / emergency transmission refer to the NAS PDU that has none of the voice signaling, the voice packet, the emergency signaling, and the emergency packet. The DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message is a specific message used to deliver NAS protocol data units (PDUs) from the core network to the UE. The DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message may include information that may be expressed as QCI (QoS Class Identifier) , APR (Allocation and Retention Priority) , and other Qos parameters, or a type indication indicating the type of NAS PDU. From the QCI, APR, or other Qos parameters, the type of NAS PDU may be determined. The type of NAS PDU can be implemented in various manners. In some implementations, there is no need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling when, for example, the same S1 AP message as those used in the conventional art (instead of the new RRC message or the new SRB designed to support the voice or emergency transmission) is used to deliver the NAS PDU that does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets and NAS PDU of voice signaling. In this case, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, if the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, there is a need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling when, for example, a new S1 AP message is used to deliver the NAS PDU of voice signaling, or a type of voice signaling is indicated. In this case, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice signaling, iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iv) the fourth type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets.According to the information, eNB can configure UE to setup one or two new SRBs in RRC dedicated message. In some implementations, the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT includes some information about the voice packet or an emergency traffic packet. The information can include the periodicity of the NAS PDU, or an indication indicating the first NAS PDU of the voice packet or an emergency traffic packet, or an indication indicating the last NAS PDU of the voice packet or the emergency traffic packet. According to the periodicity, eNB can configure the periodicity of SPS resource. According to the indication indicating first packet or the last packet, eNB can configure UE to setup or release the new SRB in RRC reconfiguration message. In some implementations, the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT includes an indication that a voice packet or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets are going to be transmitted or that a bearer for voice needs to be setup. According to the indication, eNB can configure UE to setup one or two new SRBs in RRC reconfiguration message. In some implementations, the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT includes an indication that the voice packet or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets have been transmitted or that a voice bearer needs to be released. According to the indication, eNB can configure UE to release the new SRB in RRC reconfiguration message.FIG. 1 shows a procedure in S1-AP (S1 Application Protocol) to trigger to set up or release the new SRB signaling. The msg1 is a new S1-AP message which is sent at S130 from the core network 120 to eNB 110. In the example, the core network may be MME (Mobility Management Entity) . The msg1 may include the MME UE S1AP ID, eNB UE S1AP ID, a NAS PDU, or a list of NAS PDU, or some information about NAS PDU, set up indication or release indication. Some information about NAS PDU may include QCI, APR, other Qos parameters, or a type indication indicating the type of NAS PDU, the periodicity of the NAS PDU, an indication indicating the first NAS PDU of the voice packet, or an indication indicating the last NAS PDU of voice packet. The type of NAS PDU can be implemented as above (for example, paras.
[0042] and
[0043] ) . After eNB receives the msg1, eNB can configure UE to setup or release one or two new SRBs in RRC reconfiguration message. If the new SRB is set up, eNB can response at S140 to the core network 12 n0 by sending the msg2. The msg2 may include the MME UE S1AP ID, eNB UE S1AP ID, a NAS PDU, or a list of NAS PDU, the successful or unsuccessful indication.Using New RRC MessageIn general, the UL RRC message such as ULInformationTransfer message is used for the uplink transfer of NAS information, and transmitted in RLC AM (Acknowledged Mode) mode. The DL RRC message such as DLInformationTransfer message is used for the downlink transfer of NAS dedicated information, and transmitted in RLC AM mode. In some implementations, NAS PDU can be used to transmit voice packets or emergency packet and carried in new SRB. In general, the voice packets or emergency packet are transmitted in RLC UM mode. Hence, the base station and UE needs to distinguish NAS PDU carrying voice packets or emergency packet from NAS PDU carrying NAS signaling without voice packet and emergency packet. In the description below, the NAS PDU carrying NAS signaling refers to the NAS PDU which do not carry voice packets and emergency packet. The description below is provided for the example of the voice packets. Thes similar description can be applied for the example of the emergency packets. In some implementations, for voice packets, the eNB may provide special scheduling strategies, for example, activating the SPS resource for voice packet or emergency traffic packets. Hence, the base station needs to distinguish NAS PDU carrying voice packets from NAS PDU carrying NAS signaling without the voice packets. In order to distinguish NAS PDU carrying voice packets from the NAS PDU carrying NAS signaling without the voice packets, a new RRC message is introduced. In some implementations, the new UL RRC message is introduced to transfer the NAS PDU carrying voice packets or emergency traffic packets. The new UL RRC message is transmitted by UE to the base station. The new UL RRC message is transmitted via the new SRB or SRB1bis. The RLC mode can be used for transmitting the new UL RRC message. In the example, the new RL RRC message may have a UM mode. The logical channel of the transmission of this message is DCCH. The content of this RRC message includes a NAS PDU or a list of NAS PDU.In some implementations, a new DL RRC message is introduced to transfer the NAS PDU carrying voice packets or emergency traffic packets. It is transmitted by the base station to UE. This message is transmitted via the new SRB or SRB1bis. This RLC mode of the transmission of this message may be UM mode. The logical channel of the transmission of this message is DCCH. The content of this RRC message includes a NAS PDU or a list of NAS PDU.In some implementations, a new UL RRC message is introduced to transfer the NAS PDU carrying voice signaling. It is transmitted by UE to the base station. This message is transmitted via the new SRB or SRB1bis. This RLC mode of the transmission of this message may be AM mode. The logical channel of the transmission of this message is DCCH. The content of this RRC message includes a NAS PDU or a list of NAS PDU.In some implementations, a new DL RRC message is introduced to transfer the NAS PDU carrying voice signaling. It is transmitted by the base station to UE. This message is transmitted via the new SRB or SRB1bis. This RLC mode of the transmission of this message may be AM mode. The logical channel of the transmission of this message is DCCH. The content of this RRC message includes a NAS PDU or a list of NAS PDU.The type of NAS PDU can be carrier in new RRC message as above to indicate the type of NAS PDU carried in the RRC message. In some implementations, there is no need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling, when, for example, the new RRC message is used to deliver the NAS PDU of the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets. In this case, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, there is a need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling, when, for example, the new RRC message is used to deliver the NAS PDU of the voice signaling, voice packet, or emergency traffic packets. In this case, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that NAS PDU includes the voice signaling, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets.Reusing RRC MessageIn general, the UL RRC message such as ULInformationTransfer message is used for the uplink transfer of NAS information. The DL RRC message such as DLInformationTransfer message is used for the downlink transfer of NAS dedicated information. In some implementations, NAS PDU can be used to transmit voice packets or emergency traffic packets, and carried in new SRB. The RRC message may be reused to transmit voice packets. In some implementations, for voice packets, the eNB may provide special scheduling strategies, for example, activating the SPS resource for voice packet. Hence, the base station needs to distinguish NAS PDU carrying voice packets or emergency traffic packets from NAS PDU carrying NAS signaling without carrying voice packets or emergency traffic packets. In order to distinguish NAS PDU carrying voice packets or voice signaling from NAS PDU carrying NAS signaling without carrying voice / emergency transmission, an indication is introduced in RRC message. In some implementations, an indication in UL RRC message is introduced to indicate the type of NAS PDU. As discussed above, if there is no need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, if the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, there is a need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice signaling, iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iv) the fourth type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. The UL RRC message, such as ULInformationTransfer, RRCConnectionResumeComplete, RRCConnectionSetupComplete, RRCEarlyDataRequest message may carry an indication indicating the type of NAS PDU carried in this RRC message. If this indication is absent, the NAS PDU is NAS signaling. In some implementations, an indication in DL RRC message is introduced to indicate the type of NAS PDU. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. The DL RRC message, such as DLInformationTransfer, RRCConnectionReconfiguration, RRCConnectionSetup, RRCEarlyDataComplete message may carry an indication indicating the type of NAS PDU carried in this RRC message. If this indication is absent, the NAS PDU is NAS signaling.Distinguishing Voice / Emergency Packets / Signalings from NAS signalingIf the new SRB or the new RRC message is used to transmit the UL / DL voice packets or voice signaling, UE needs to map the NAS PDU that carries voice / emergency packets / signalings to the new SRB or the new RRC message. Hence, UE needs to distinguish voice packet or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets from NAS signaling. The NAS is a layer in the 5G (and LTE, UMTS, GSM) protocol stack that handles communication between the User Equipment (UE) and the core network. Possible implementations to distinguish the voice packet or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets from the NAS signaling are provided in the below.NAS INDICATION in UEA. ULIn some implementations, in UE, for UL, the NAS layer of the UE may indicate the type of NAS PDU to the RRC layer of the UE. When the NAS layer of the UE delivers the NAS PDU to the RRC layer of the UE, the NAS layer of the UE may indicate the type of NAS PDU.The type of NAS PDU can be implemented in various manners. In some implementations, there is no need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling, when, for example, the same RRC message as those used in the conventional art is used to deliver the NAS PDU that does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets and NAS PDU of voice signaling. After the NAS layer of UE receives the indication of the type of NAS PDU, if the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU includes voice packet or emergency traffic packets, the RRC layer of the UE may include this NAS PDU in the new RRC message or new SRB that is used to transfer the voice packet or emergency packet, or indicate the type of NAS PDU in RRC message. After the NAS layer of UE receives the indication of the type of NAS PDU, if the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets, the RRC layer of the UE may include this NAS PDU in the ULInformationTransfer that is used to transfer the NAS PDU. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packetsIn some implementations, there is a need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling when, for example, a new RRC message is used to deliver the NAS PDU of voice signaling, or a type of voice signaling is indicated. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of voice signaling, voice packet, or emergency packet.B. DLIn some implementations, in UE, for DL, the RRC layer of the UE may indicate the type of NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE. When the RRC layer of the UE delivers the NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE, the RRC layer of the UE may indicate the type of NAS PDU.The type of NAS PDU can be implemented in various manners. In some implementations, if the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. After the RRC layer of the UE receives, from the base station via SRB or RRC message, the NAS PDU carrying voice packet or emergency packet, the RRC layer of the UE may deliver the NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE and indicate, to the NAS layer, the type of this NAS PDU indicating that the NAS signaling includes a voice packet or emergency packet. After the RRC layer of the UE receives, from the base station, via SRB or RRC, the NAS PDU which does not include any of the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets, the RRC layer of the UE may deliver the NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE and indicate the type of the NAS PDU accordingly if needed. In some implementations, there is a need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling when, for example, a new RRC message is used to deliver the NAS PDU of voice signaling, or a type of voice signaling is indicated. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU could be considered that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. After the RRC layer of the UE receives, from the base station via SRB or RRC message, the NAS PDU carrying voice packet or emergency packet, the RRC layer of the UE may deliver the NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE and indicate, to the NAS layer, the type of this NAS PDU to indicate that the NAS signaling includes the voice packet or emergency packet. After the RRC layer of the UE receives, from the base station via SRB or RRC message, the NAS PDU carrying voice signaling, the RRC layer of the UE may deliver the NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE and indicate, to the NAS layer, the type of this NAS PDU indicating that the NAS signaling includes a voice signaling. After the RRC layer of the UE receives, from base station via SRB or RRC, the NAS PDU which does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets, the RRC layer of the UE may deliver the NAS PDU to the NAS layer of the UE.S1AP Interface –DL Voice / Emergency Packet / SignalingIf the new SRB or new RRC message or the current RRC message carrying the type of NAS PDU is used to transmit the DL voice packets or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets, the base station needs to map the NAS PDU that carries voice packet or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets to the new SRB or the new RRC message. Hence, the base station needs to distinguish the voice / emergency transmission from the NAS signaling without voice / emergency transmission. The following implementations provide techniques for distinguishing the NAS PDU including the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets from the NAS signaling without voice / emergency packets / signalings for DL.In some implementations, in the interface between the base station and core network, such as S1 interface, for DL, the core network may indicate the base station the type of NAS PDU in the interface message. In the example, the interface function of core network is the Mobility Management Entity (MME) . When the MME delivers the NAS PDU to eNB via DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message, MME may indicate the type of NAS PDU in DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message. The type of NAS PDU can be implemented in various manners. In some implementations, there is a need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling, for example, a new RRC message is used to deliver the NAS PDU of voice signaling, or a type of voice signaling is indicated. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU could be considered that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. After eNB receives the indication of the type of NAS PDU and NAS PDU, if the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU includes voice packet or emergency traffic packets, eNB could include this NAS PDU in the new RRC message or new SRB that is used to transfer the voice packets or emergency traffic packets or the type of the NAS PDU in the RRC message or activate DL SPS resource. If the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets or the type is absent, eNB may include this NAS PDU in ULInformationTransfer message. If the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU includes the voice signaling, eNB could include this NAS PDU in the new RRC message or new SRB that is used to transfer the voice signaling or the type of the NAS PDU in the RRC message or activate DL SPS resource. In some implementations, there is no need to distinguish whether the NAS PDU carries the voice signaling. After eNB receives the indication of the type of NAS PDU and NAS PDU, the following operations can be performed. If the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU includes voice packet or emergency traffic packets, eNB may include this NAS PDU in the new RRC message or new SRB that is used to transfer the voice packets or emergency traffic packets or the type of the NAS PDU in the new RRC message or activate DL SPS resource. If the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets or if the type of NAS PDU is absent, eNB may include this NAS PDU in ULInformationTransfer message. If the type of NAS PDU indicates that the NAS PDU includes the voice signaling, eNB could include this NAS PDU in the new RRC message or new SRB that is used to transfer the voice signaling or the type of the NAS PDU in the RRC message or activate DL SPS resource. In some implementations, the message can carry the indication of the last NAS PDU or the last NAS PDU carrying voice packet or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets. According to the indication, the eNB can trigger the release of DL SPS resource. In some implementations, in the interface between the base station and core network, such as S1 interface, for DL, a new interface message such as msg1 (see FIG. 1) is used to deliver, by the core network to the base station, the NAS PDU carrying voice packets or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets. The new interface message such as msg1 (see FIG. 1) is different from the DOWNLINK NAS TRANSPORT message that is used to transfer NAS PDU that doesn’ t include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets. The content of this new message may include the MME UE S1AP ID, eNB UE S1AP ID, a NAS PDU, a list of NAS PDU, or the type of NAS PDU. The type of NAS PDU may be implemented as discussed in paras.
[0094] and
[0096] .The MME UE s1AP ID refers to the identification assigned by the core network (e.g., MME) to a UE within the S1-AP connection between the base station and the core network (e.g., MME) , and eNB UE S1AP ID refers to the identification assigned by the base station to a UE within the S1-AP connection between the base station and the core network (e.g., MME) . The type of NAS PDU is that the NAS signaling includes any of the voice signaling, the voice packet or emergency traffic packets. After the reception of this message, eNB may include this NAS PDU in the new RRC message or new SRB that is used to transfer the voice packets or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets or the type of NAS PDU in RRC message or activate DL SPS resource. In some implementations, a new UL interface message, such as msg2 (see FIG. 1) , is used to report the successful or non-delivery of a NAS PDU which was previously received within the new DL message such as msg1 (see FIG. 1) . In some other implementations, NAS DELIVERY INDICATION or NAS NON DELIVERY INDICATION is used to report the successful or non-delivery of a NAS PDU which was previously received within the new DL message. The msg1 may carry the indication of the last NAS PDU or the last NAS PDU carrying voice packet. According to it, the eNB could trigger the release of DL SPS resource.S1AP Interface –UL Voice / Emergency Packets / SignalingsIf the core network needs to distinguish the NAS PDU carrying voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency packet from the NAS signaling without voice signaling, voice packet, and emergency packets, the base station needs to map the NAS PDU that carries the voice signaling, voice packet or the emergency packet to the S1-AP message. Hence, the base station needs to distinguish the NAS PDU carrying voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency packet from the NAS signaling without voice signaling, voice packet, and emergency packet. The following implementations provide schemes for distinguishing the NAS PDU carrying voice packet from the NAS signaling without voice signaling, voice packet, and emergency packet for UL.In some implementations, in the interface between the base station and core network, such as S1 interface, for UL, the base station may indicate the core network the type of NAS PDU in the interface message. When the eNB delivers the NAS PDU to MME via UPLINK NAS TRANSPORT message, eNB may indicate the type of NAS PDU in UPLINK NAS TRANSPORT message. In some implementations, the type of NAS PDU may be one of i) the first type indicating that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets, ii) the second type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice signaling, iii) the third type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the voice packet, or iv) the fourth type indicating that the NAS PDU includes the emergency traffic packets. If the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU could be considered that the NAS PDU includes NAS PDU does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. In some implementations, if the type of NAS PDU is absent, the type of NAS PDU may be considered that the NAS PDU does not include any of the voice packet, or the emergency traffic packets. After eNB receives a voice signaling, a voice packet or emergency traffic packets, eNB may deliver the NAS PDU and indicate the type of NAS PDU via UPLINK NAS TRANSPORT message accordingly. In some implementations, in the interface between the base station and core network, such as S1 interface, for UL, a new interface message is used to deliver the NAS PDU carrying voice packets or voice signaling or emergency traffic packets by the base station to the core network. The new interface message is different from the UPLINK NAS TRANSPORT message that is used to transfer NAS PDU that does not include any of the voice signaling, the voice packet, or emergency traffic packets. The content of this new message may include the MME UE S1AP ID, eNB UE S1AP ID, a NAS PDU, or a list of NAS PDU. The eNB may indicate the type of NAS PDU in the message. The type of NAS PDU is that the NAS signaling includes any of the voice / signaling, the voice packet or emergency traffic packets. After eNB receives a voice signaling, a voice packet or emergency traffic packets, eNB may deliver the NAS PDU and indicate the type of NAS PDU via this new message accordingly.UE CAPABILITYThe UE capability to support the voice traffic or emergency traffic may be reported to the network via UE capability. According to the UE capability information, the network can set up or transmit the voice traffic or emergency traffic. The UE capability may include one or more of the following:In some implementations, the UE capability information may include the capability whether the UE supports the CP (Control Plane) solution to transmit voice traffic. If UE supports the CP solution including, for example, Control Plane CIoT EPS Optimization or the Control Plane CIoT 5GS optimization to transmit voice traffic, the eNB may setup the new SRB or new RRC message or new S1-AP message for UE to transmit voice packets or signaling. In some implementation, the UE capability information may include the capability whether the UE supports the UP (User Plane) solution to transmit voice traffic. If UE support the UP solution to transmit voice traffic, the eNB may setup the DRB for UE to transmit voice packets or signaling. In some implementations, the UE capability information may include the capability whether the UE supports the new SRB to transmit voice traffic. If the UE support the new SRB, the eNB may setup the new SRB for UE to transmit voice packets. In some implementations, if a UE supports the Control Plane CIoT EPS optimization or the Control Plane CIoT 5GS optimization, voice traffic may establish the new SRB. In some implementations, if a UE supports Control Plane CIoT solution, voice traffic may transmit the NAS PDU that carries the voice packets and / or voice signaling via SRB. Hence, the UE can support or establish the new SRB. If UE support the new SRB, UE also has ability to support the new RRC message to transmit the voice packets and / or voice signaling. In some implementations, the UE capability information may include the capability whether the UE supports the new SRB to transmit emergency traffic. If UE support the new SRB, the eNB can setup the new SRB for UE to transmit emergency packets. A UE that supports the Control Plane CIoT EPS optimization or the Control Plane CIoT 5GS optimization and emergency traffic can establish the new SRB. The UE that supports Control Plane CIoT solution and emergency traffic can transmit the NAS PDU that carries the emergency traffic packets via SRB. Hence, the UE can support or establish the new SRB. If UE supports the new SRB, UE also has ability to support the new RRC message to transmit the emergency traffic.RRC REESTABLISHMENTIn the connected mode, UE may perform the RRC reestablishment to switch to the next satellite under the LEO (Low Earth Orbit) scenario. The interruption time caused by RRC reestablishment may include the time of requiring SIB1 of the target cell, RACH, RRC re-establishment procedure. If the SIB1 of the next cell can be supplied to UE at advance, the interruption time can be decreased. The possible enhancements can be made as follows:The serving cell broadcasts the SIB1 or SIB2 of neighbour cell. A new SIB may be introduced to broadcast the SIB1 or SIB2 of the neighbour cell. The new SIB may include a list of SIB1 or SIB2. The new SIB may include the satellite identity, or frequency or other information of the neighbour cell. By the satellite identity, the satellite information in SIB32 or other SIB may relate with the neighbour cell in this new SIB. By the frequency or cell identity, the neighbour cell information in SIB3 to SIB5 or other SIB may relate with the neighbour cell in this new SIB.The serving cell broadcasts the SIB1 or SIB2 of neighbour cell. In SIB3 to SIB5, for a neighbour cell, the SIB1 or SIB2 of the neighbour cell is included. The serving cell may broadcast an indication indicating the new satellite. For example, in SIB 32 or other SIBs of the serving cell, for a satellite, an indication is broadcasted. The indication indicates whether this satellite is going to service this area. The serving cell may broadcast an indication indicating UE to require the SIB of the serving cell. For example, in SIB3 to SIB5, for a neighbour cell, an indication is broadcasted, which indicates whether the satellite is going to service this area.UE may require this SIB1 during idle period, such as the DRX inactive mode and a gap without scheduling. In this way, there is no impact on the transmission in serving cell If the predetermined condition is satisfied, UE requires this SIB1. In this way, if the UE is likely to trigger RRC RRC re-establishment procedure, the UE will require the SIB of the neighbour cell, which reduces the chance to require this SIB. The predetermined condition can be one or more of the following:The condition is met when the time is close to or before the t-service. In this case, UE may require the SIB1 of neighbor cell during idle period. The exact time to start measurements before t-Service is based on the UE implementation. The condition is met when the time is close to a threshold that broadcast in the serving cell. The condition is met when the location between UE and serving cell is higher than a threshold that broadcast in the serving cell. The condition is met when the number of "out-of-sync"indications receive by RRC in UE reach a threshold that is broadcasted in the serving cell, or the condition is met when a "out-of-sync"indications are received by RRC.In some implementations, for CP solution, RRCConnectionReestablishmentComplete-NB may carry NAS PDU.FIG. 2 illustrates an example of a wireless communication system (e.g., a long term evolution (LTE) , 5G or NR cellular network) that includes a BS 220 and one or more user equipment (UE) 211, 212 and 213.
