[0256] Figure 1c is an exemplary architecture diagram of a 5G system provided according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 1c, in 5G, data transmission occurs between the UE and the DN. The network establishes a PDU session between the UE and the DN for transmitting data between the UE and the DN. The data transmission path is: UE→RAN→UPF→DN.

[0257] As mobile communication technology evolves, RAT (Rapid Access Technology) is also constantly developing. From the early 2G (such as GSM) to 3G (such as UMTS), 4G (such as LTE), and now to 5G and 6G, each generation of technology has brought higher data rates, lower latency, and higher network capacity.

[0258] When transmitting data streams, communication devices may not be able to accurately determine how the data uses the RAT during transmission, resulting in delays in the data stream and thus reducing the system's communication performance.

[0259] To address the aforementioned issues, embodiments of this disclosure provide a communication method, apparatus, device, system, storage medium, and program product. A first device sends first information corresponding to data to a second device. This first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate when transmitting data based on one or more RATs. Through the solutions of these embodiments, the second device can accurately determine the RAT usage for data transmission based on the transmission rate of one or more RATs, thereby utilizing network resources more effectively, reducing latency, optimizing the data transmission process, and improving system performance.

[0260] The communication methods, apparatus, devices, systems, storage media, and program products provided in this disclosure will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0261] Referring to Figure 2a, Figure 2a is an exemplary interactive schematic diagram of a communication method provided according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 2a, the communication method includes the following steps:

[0262] Step S2101: The first device sends capability information to the network device.

[0263] In some embodiments, the network device in step S2101 may be a first network device. The first network device may be an access network device (e.g., gNB) or a core network element (e.g., AMF).

[0264] In some embodiments, capability information is used to indicate that the first device is capable of sending first information to the second device.

[0265] In some embodiments, capability information is used to indicate that the first device is capable of providing a certain data transmission rate to the second device at one or more RATs.

[0266] In some embodiments, the second device may be a network device, which may be the same device as the network device in step S2101 or a different device. For example, if the first device is a terminal device, the second device may be an access network device (e.g., a base station).

[0267] Alternatively, if the first device is an access network device, the second device can be a core network device / element (e.g., AMF, SMF, or UPF). For example, when data sent / received by a terminal device via 5G RAT and 6G RAT is aggregated in the core network, the access network device (i.e., the first device, such as a 6G RAT base station) can provide the core network element (e.g., SMF) with the data stream's transmission rate in the 6G RAT.

[0268] In some embodiments, the first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting data based on multiple RATs.

[0269] In some embodiments, the data may include, but is not limited to, one or more of the following:

[0270] SDF;

[0271] QoS data stream.

[0272] In some embodiments, "data" may be used interchangeably with terms such as "data stream," "data packet," "signal," "information," "signal stream," "information stream," and "transmission stream."

[0273] In some embodiments, the transmission rate includes one or more of the following:

[0274] When the first device transmits the first data based on multiple RATs, the maximum transmission rate supported by one or more RATs;

[0275] When the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs, the transmission rate supported by one or more RATs.

[0276] In some embodiments, "maximum transmission rate" may be used interchangeably with terms such as "rate capacity," "capacity," and "maximum rate."

[0277] In some embodiments, an SDF refers to an aggregated set of data flows carried by a UPF that match a certain SDF template. For IP packets, the service flow template contains a set of SDF filters or an application identifier. The service flow filters can identify packets based on the IP 5-tuple (source / destination IP, port, protocol type, etc.). Each SDF represents a group of packets with the same policy rules (such as QoS, accounting). SDFs can be dynamically bound to specific QoS flows through PCC rules. An SDF can have a corresponding service identifier.

[0278] Figure 2b is an exemplary architecture diagram of the mapping mechanism provided according to embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 2b, in 5G / NR, data packets are first mapped to QoS flows, and then the QoS flows are mapped to DRBs. The mapping from data packets to QoS is implemented according to QoS rules, including mechanisms such as packet filter sets and reflective QoS.

[0279] In some embodiments, taking the first device as an example of a core network element, please refer to Figure 2c, which is a schematic diagram of a communication method provided according to an embodiment of this disclosure. As shown in Figure 2c, the terminal device can send / receive data streams through multiple RATs. For example, the terminal device can send / receive data streams through two 3GPP RATs (e.g., 4G / LTE, or 5G / NR), or the terminal device can send / receive data streams through one 3GPP RAT (e.g., 4G / LTE, or 5G / NR) and one non-3GPP RAT (e.g., WLAN).

[0280] In this process, the data stream sent by the terminal device can be aggregated at a core network element (i.e., the first device), such as a UPF. The core network element (e.g., UPF) and the terminal device can have multiple processing methods for a data stream (e.g., an SDF or QoS stream). For example, they can use a switching mode to switch the data stream between different RATs, or use a splitting mode to split a single data stream into multiple RATs for transmission, thereby aggregating the bandwidth of multiple RATs to transmit data.

[0281] In some embodiments, capability information may be used interchangeably with terms such as “capability signaling,” “capability,” and “capability indication.”

[0282] In step S2102, the network device sends the second information to the first device.

[0283] In some embodiments, the network device in step S2102 can be a second network device. The second network device can be a core network device or a core network element (e.g., an SMF) or an access network device (e.g., a base station).

[0284] For example, if the first device is a terminal device, the second information can be sent to the first device by the SMF or the access network device; or, if the first device is an access network device, the second information can be sent to the first device by the SMF.

[0285] In some embodiments, the second network device and the first network device in step S2101 can be the same device or different devices. When the second network device and the first network device in step S2101 are different devices, after receiving the capability information sent by the device, the first network device can indicate to the second network device that it supports sending first information to the second network device. For example, the first network device can send indication information to the second network device to instruct the first device; correspondingly, the second network device sends second information to the first device.

[0286] In some embodiments, the second information is used to instruct the first device to send one or more pieces of first information corresponding to data to the second device.

[0287] In some embodiments, the second information is used to instruct the first device to measure and obtain the transmission rate of one or more RATs when transmitting one or more data based on multiple RATs.

[0288] One or more of the data includes the first data and the second data; or, one or more of the data includes the first data.

[0289] In some embodiments, the term "transmission rate" can be used interchangeably with terms such as "transmit rate", "receive rate", "transmit and receive rate", "rate", and "speed".

[0290] In some embodiments, "second information" may be used interchangeably with terms such as "configuration information" or "instruction information".

[0291] In some embodiments, the second information includes, but is not limited to, one or more of the following:

[0292] 1. Data information, which is used to indicate one or more data, including first data; that is, the first device needs to send the first information corresponding to one or more data indicated in the data information to the second device. Among them, data information includes, but is not limited to, data identification information.

[0293] 2. Data type information: This information indicates the data type, which includes uplink data and / or downlink data. Accordingly, the first device can report to the second device the transmission rate corresponding to each RAT when the terminal device sends uplink data to the network based on one or more RATs; and / or, report to the second device the transmission rate corresponding to each RAT when the network sends downlink data to the terminal device based on one or more RATs.

[0294] In some embodiments, "data type" may be used interchangeably with terms such as "measurement direction", "data direction", "data transmission direction".

[0295] 3. The length of the first time period. The first time period is used to obtain the transmission rate, which is the average of one or more measured rates within the first time period.

[0296] In some embodiments, "first time period" can be used interchangeably with terms such as "average window," "time interval," or "time length."

[0297] 4. Transmission rate reporting methods: The transmission rate is reported in a manner that includes periodic reporting and / or event-triggered reporting.

[0298] In some embodiments, "reporting information" can be used interchangeably with terms such as "reporting method," "reporting type," "measurement method," "measurement information," and "reporting type."

[0299] In some embodiments, when the reporting method is periodic reporting, the second information further includes:

[0300] The reporting period for the transmission rate is also included in the second information when the reporting method is periodic reporting.

[0301] In some embodiments, when the reporting method is event-triggered reporting, the second information further includes:

[0302] The event that triggers the reporting of transmission rate, that is, when the reporting method is event-triggered reporting, the second information also includes the event that triggers the reporting of transmission rate.

[0303] In some embodiments, the events that trigger the reporting of transmission rates include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following:

[0304] 1. When the rate of change between the currently measured transmission rate and the most recently transmitted transmission rate to the second device is greater than or equal to a first threshold, the current measured transmission rate is reported. For example, the event that triggers the transmission rate reporting can be configured as follows: when the rate of change between the currently measured transmission rate and the most recently transmitted transmission rate to the second device is greater than or equal to 20% (i.e., the first threshold), the current measured transmission rate is reported.

[0305] 2. When the rate difference between the currently measured transmission rate and the transmission rate most recently reported to the second device is greater than or equal to the second threshold, the currently measured transmission rate shall be reported.

[0306] 3. When the rate of change between the currently measured transmission rate and the most recently measured transmission rate is greater than or equal to the third threshold, report the currently measured transmission rate.

[0307] 4. When the rate difference between the current measured transmission rate and the most recently measured transmission rate is greater than or equal to the fourth threshold, report the current measured transmission rate.

[0308] In some embodiments, the magnitudes of the first threshold, the second threshold, the third threshold, and the fourth threshold are not limited. One or more of the first threshold, the second threshold, the third threshold, and the fourth threshold may be defined by a protocol or configured by a network device.

[0309] In step S2103, the first device measures the transmission rate of one or more RATs when transmitting the first data based on multiple RATs, according to the second information.

[0310] In some embodiments, the first data measured by the first device may be any of one or more data indicated in the second information.

[0311] In some embodiments, the first data measured by the first device includes one or more of the following:

[0312] Service data flow;

[0313] Quality of Service (QoS) data stream.

[0314] In some embodiments, the measurement rate is obtained by measuring the transmission rate of one or more RATs when the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs. Specifically, when the second information indicates data information, the transmission rate of one or more data items indicated in the data information is measured. Taking the second information indicating the measured data as a QoS stream as an example, please refer to FIG2d, which is a schematic diagram of a communication method according to an embodiment of this disclosure. As shown in FIG2d, the PDU session established between the terminal device and the DN is processed through a UPF. The PDU session contains multiple QoS streams. FIG2d shows three QoS streams, with corresponding identifiers (QFIs) of 1, 2, and 3, respectively. If the data indicated in the second information is a QoS stream with QFI = 1, the first device measures the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI = 1 on one or more RATs.

[0315] If the second information indicates data type information, then the transmission rate of one or more data types that satisfy the data type information is measured. For example, if the data type information indicated by the second information is uplink data, then the transmission rate of uplink data of the terminal device is measured.

[0316] In some embodiments, the transmission rate is the average of one or more measured rates over a first time period.

[0317] In some embodiments, where the second information indicates the length information of the first time period, the first device measures one or more measurement rates of the first data within the first time period, and then determines the transmission rate of the first data as the average of the one or more measurement rates.

[0318] In some embodiments, when the reporting method of the second information indication is periodic reporting, the transmission rate can be measured based on the reporting period.

[0319] In some embodiments, the first device may also independently determine the time for measuring the transmission rate, the measurement period, the first time period, etc.

[0320] In some embodiments, the transmission rate of the first data includes one or more of the following:

[0321] When the first device transmits the first data based on multiple RATs, the maximum transmission rate supported by one or more RATs;

[0322] When the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs, the transmission rate supported by one or more RATs.

[0323] In some embodiments, the first information of the first data is used by the second device to determine the RAT usage of the transmitted data.

[0324] RAT usage includes one or more of the following:

[0325] 1. One or more RATs used for data transmission; for example, when the first device transmits data, the RATs used for transmitting the data include RAT 1, RAT 2 and RAT 3.

[0326] 2. The proportion of one or more RATs used for data transmission. This proportion indicates the percentage of data transmitted using one or more RATs out of the total data volume. For example, the percentage of data transmitted using RAT 1, the percentage of data transmitted using RAT 2, and the percentage of data transmitted using RAT 3.

[0327] In some embodiments, the first information of the first data is used to indicate one or more of the following:

[0328] First RAT;

[0329] The first RAT corresponds to a ratio, which is used to indicate the proportion of the first data transmitted using the first RAT in the total amount of the first data.

[0330] The first RAT is one or more RATs used to transmit the first data.

[0331] In some embodiments, the transmission rate is obtained based on one or more of the following:

[0332] Channel information for one or more RATRAT-corresponding wireless channels;

[0333] Scheduling information for network devices. The network devices in this context refer to access network devices.

[0334] Taking the first device as an access network device as an example, when the data streams sent / received by the terminal device through 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network, the access network device (i.e., the first device, such as a 6G RAT base station) can provide the transmission rate of the data stream in 6G RAT based on the status of the terminal device's radio channel in 6G RAT and / or the access network device's scheduling strategy for data streams.

[0335] Step S2104: The first device sends the first information of the first data to the second device.

[0336] In some embodiments, the first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs.

[0337] In some embodiments, the first information is used to indicate the transmission rate of one or more RATs when the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs.

[0338] In some embodiments, the first device may send the first information corresponding to the first data to the second device after measuring the transmission rate of one or more RATs when transmitting the first data based on multiple RATs.

[0339] In some embodiments, the first device may also send the first information corresponding to the first data to the second device based on the second information.

[0340] Specifically, when the reporting method for the second information indicating the transmission rate is periodic, the transmission rate of the first data can be reported according to the reporting period. Alternatively, when the reporting method for the second information indicating the transmission rate is event-triggered, the transmission rate of the first data can be reported according to the event that triggers the reporting of the transmission rate. For example, when the rate of change between the currently measured transmission rate and the transmission rate most recently sent to the second device is greater than or equal to 20% (i.e., a first threshold), the transmission rate corresponding to the first data is sent to the second device.

[0341] In some embodiments, the first information is sent based on one or more of the following:

[0342] Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling;

[0343] Non-access stratum (NAS) signaling.

[0344] In the case where the first device is a terminal device and the second device is an access network device (such as a base station), the first device can send the first information to the second device through RRC signaling.

[0345] When the first device is a terminal device and the second device is a core network device (e.g., SMF, UPF, AMF, etc.), the first device can send the first information to the second device via NAS signaling.

[0346] When the first device is an access network device (e.g., a base station) and the second device is a core network device (e.g., SMF, UPF, AMF), the first device can send the first information to the second device via NAS signaling.

[0347] In step S2105, the second device determines the first RAT and / or the corresponding ratio of the first RAT based on the first information.

[0348] In some embodiments, the ratio is used to indicate the proportion of the amount of data in the first data transmitted using the first RAT in the total amount of the first data;

[0349] In some embodiments, the first RAT is one or more RATs used to transmit the first data.

[0350] In some embodiments, the first RAT and / or the first RAT corresponding ratio may be interchanged with terms such as "RAT usage".

[0351] In some embodiments, the second device may adjust the aggregation parameters of data in different RATs based on the first information, thereby obtaining the first RAT and / or the corresponding ratio of the first RAT for transmitting the first data.

[0352] In the case where the second device is an SMF network element, the SMF network element can notify the UPF to adjust the aggregation parameters of data in different RATs, thereby obtaining the first RAT and / or the corresponding ratio of the first RAT for transmitting the first data.

[0353] When the second device is an SMF network element, the SMF network element can also notify the terminal device to adjust the aggregation parameters of different RATs of the data, thereby obtaining the first RAT and / or the corresponding ratio of the first RAT for transmitting the first data.

[0354] In Example 1, taking the first device as the terminal device, the data streams sent / received by the terminal device through 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network. Taking the data stream as a QoS stream as an example, please continue to refer to Figure 2d. As shown in Figure 2d, the PDU session established between the terminal device and the DN is processed by the UPF. There are multiple QoS streams in the PDU session (three QoS streams are shown in Figure 2d, and their corresponding identifiers (QFIs) are 1, 2, and 3, respectively). The SMF (i.e., the network device in step S2102 in the above embodiment) configures the terminal device to provide the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI of 1 in 5G RAT and 6G RAT. The average window length and reporting period are both 200 milliseconds.

[0355] Accordingly, within 200 milliseconds, the terminal device will measure one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT, and one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT, and average the one or more measurement rates to obtain the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT and the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT. The terminal device will report the data transmission rate to the SMF (i.e., the second device). The terminal device can relay data through the 6G RAT base station via RRC signaling to send it to the SMF via the 6G RAT base station; or relay data through the AMF via NAS signaling carried in the RRC signaling to send it to the SMF via the AMF.

[0356] Accordingly, the SMF (i.e., the second device) instructs the UPF to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT based on the transmission rate reported by the terminal device (i.e., the first device). For example, how downlink data is switched or split between the 5G RAT and 6G RAT. Alternatively, the SMF (i.e., the second device) can also instruct the terminal device to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT based on the data rate reported by the terminal device (i.e., the first device). For example, how uplink data is switched or split between the 5G RAT and 6G RAT.

[0357] In Example 2, taking the first device as an access network device (e.g., a 6G RAT base station) as an example, the data streams sent / received by the terminal device through 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network. The SMF (i.e., the network device in step S2102 in the above embodiment) configures the access network device (i.e., the first device, such as a 5G RAT base station and / or a 6G RAT base station) to provide the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI of 1 in 5G RAT and 6G RAT. The average window length and the reporting period are both 200 milliseconds.

[0358] Accordingly, the 5G RAT base station (i.e., the first device) will measure one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT within 200 milliseconds, and average the one or more measurement rates to obtain the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT, and report the transmission rate to the SMF (i.e., the second device).

[0359] Similarly, the 6G RAT base station (i.e., the first device) will measure one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT within 200 milliseconds, and average the one or more measurement rates to obtain the transmission rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT, and report the transmission rate to the SMF (i.e., the second device).

[0360] Correspondingly, the SMF (i.e., the second device) can, based on the data rates reported by the 5G RAT and 6G RAT base stations, instruct the UPF to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT; for example, how downlink data is switched or split between the 5G RAT and 6G RAT. Alternatively, the SMF (i.e., the second device) can also, based on the data rates reported by the first device, instruct the terminal device to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT; for example, how uplink data is switched or split between the 5G RAT and 6G RAT.

[0361] In some embodiments, the first device is further configured to send first information of the second data to the second device, wherein the first information of the second data is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting the second data based on multiple RATs.

[0362] In some embodiments, the first information of the second data is the same as the first information of the first data.

[0363] In some embodiments, the first information of the second data is different from the first information of the first data.

[0364] It should be noted that the method of obtaining the first information of the second data, the method of sending the first information of the second data to the second device, and the method of the second device processing the first information corresponding to the second data are all similar to those of the first data. For details, please refer to steps S2103 to S2105 in the above embodiments, which will not be elaborated here.

[0365] The communication method involved in the embodiments of this disclosure may include at least one of steps S2101 to S2105. For example, the combination of steps S2101 to S2104 can be implemented as an independent embodiment; the combination of steps S2102 to S2104 can be implemented as an independent embodiment; the combination of steps S2103 to S2104 can be implemented as an independent embodiment; the combination of steps S2102 to S2105 can be implemented as an independent embodiment; the combination of steps S2104 to S2105 can be implemented as an independent embodiment, but is not limited thereto.

[0366] In some embodiments, steps S2101 and S2102 are optional, and one or more of these steps may be omitted or substituted in different embodiments.

[0367] In some embodiments, step S2105 is optional, and one or more of these steps may be omitted or substituted in different embodiments.

[0368] Referring to Figure 2e, Figure 2e is an exemplary interactive schematic diagram of a communication method provided according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 2e, the communication method includes the following steps:

[0369] Step S2201: The first device obtains the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting the first data based on multiple RATs.

[0370] In some embodiments, the first data may be determined by the first device itself; for example, the first device may determine by itself that it needs to acquire the first data of the transmission rate.

[0371] In some embodiments, the first data may be protocol-defined, for example, the first data required to obtain the transmission rate is defined by the protocol.

[0372] In some embodiments, the first data may be indicated by the network device to the first device. The network device may use second information to indicate which data transmission rates the first device needs to measure. The network device may be a second network device, wherein, if the second device is a network device, the second network device may be the same network device as the first device, or it may be a different network device.

[0373] The method of reporting transmission rate: In some embodiments, the transmission rate includes one or more of the following:

[0374] When the first device transmits the first data based on multiple RATs, the maximum transmission rate supported by one or more RATs;

[0375] When the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs, the transmission rate supported by one or more RATs.

[0376] In some embodiments, the transmission rate can be obtained by a first device measuring one or more RATs. The first device can be a terminal device or an access network device. It should be noted that the method by which the first device measures the transmission rate can be referred to the relevant content in the embodiment shown in Figure 2a, and will not be repeated here.

[0377] In some embodiments, the transmission rate may be measured by another device and then sent to the first device. For example, if the first device is an access network device, the transmission rate may be measured by a terminal device and sent to the first device by the terminal device.

[0378] Step S2202: The first device sends the first information of the first data to the second device.

[0379] In some embodiments, the first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting first data based on multiple RATs. In some embodiments, the second device may be a network device, which may be the same device as the network device in step S2101, or it may be a different device. For example, if the first device is a terminal device, the second device may be an access network device (e.g., a base station).

[0380] Alternatively, if the first device is an access network device, the second device can be a core network device / element (e.g., AMF, SMF, or UPF).

[0381] In step S2203, the second device determines the first RAT and / or the corresponding ratio of the first RAT based on the first information.

[0382] In some embodiments, the ratio is used to indicate the proportion of the amount of data in the first data transmitted using the first RAT in the total amount of the first data;

[0383] In some embodiments, the first RAT is one or more RATs used to transmit the first data.

[0384] In some embodiments, the first device is further configured to send first information of the second data to the second device, wherein the first information of the second data is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting the second data based on multiple RATs.

[0385] In some embodiments, the first information of the second data is the same as the first information of the first data.

[0386] In some embodiments, the first information of the second data is different from the first information of the first data.

[0387] It should be noted that the method of obtaining the first information of the second data, the method of sending the first information of the second data to the second device, and the method of the second device processing the first information corresponding to the second data are all similar to those of the first data. For details, please refer to steps S2103 to S2105 in the above embodiments, which will not be elaborated here.

[0388] In some embodiments, the optional implementation of steps S2201 to S2203 is similar to steps S2103 to S2105 in the embodiment shown in FIG2a. For specific implementation, please refer to the embodiment shown in FIG2a above, which will not be described in detail here.

[0389] The communication method involved in the embodiments of this disclosure may include at least one of steps S2201 to S2203. For example, a combination of steps S2201 to S2202 may be implemented as a standalone embodiment, but is not limited thereto.

[0390] In some embodiments, step S2203 is optional, and one or more of these steps may be omitted or substituted in different embodiments.

[0391] Referring to Figure 2f, Figure 2f is an exemplary interactive schematic diagram of a communication method provided according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 2f, the communication method includes the following steps:

[0392] Step S2301: The first device sends the first information of the first data to the second device.

[0393] In some embodiments, the first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when the first device transmits first data based on multiple RATs.

[0394] In some embodiments, the first data may be determined by the first device itself; for example, the first device may determine by itself the first data that needs to be reported regarding the transmission rate.

[0395] In some embodiments, the first data may be protocol-defined, for example, the first data that the protocol defines as the data that the transmission rate needs to be reported.

[0396] In some embodiments, the first data may be indicated by the network device to the first device. The network device may use second information to indicate which data transmission rates the first device needs to measure. The network device may be a second network device, wherein, if the second device is a network device, the second network device may be the same network device as the first device, or it may be a different network device.

[0397] In some embodiments, the transmission rate can be obtained by a first device measuring one or more RATs. The first device can be a terminal device or an access network device. It should be noted that the method by which the first device measures the transmission rate can be referred to the relevant content in the embodiment shown in Figure 2a, and will not be repeated here. Accordingly, after measuring the transmission rate corresponding to the first data, the first device can send the first information corresponding to the first data to the second device.

[0398] In some embodiments, the transmission rate may be measured by another device and sent to the first device. For example, if the first device is an access network device, the transmission rate may be measured by a terminal device and sent to the first device by the terminal device. Accordingly, after receiving the transmission rate corresponding to the first data, the first device sends the first information corresponding to the data to the second device.

[0399] In some embodiments, the first device may independently determine the time for measuring the transmission rate, the measurement period, the first time period, etc.

[0400] In some embodiments, the first device may also send first information corresponding to the first data to the second device based on the second information sent by the network device. For example, if the second information indicates that the transmission rate is reported periodically, the first information can be sent to the second device according to the reporting period. Alternatively, if the second information indicates that the transmission rate is reported based on an event-triggered reporting method, the first information can be sent to the second device according to an event that triggers the reporting of the transmission rate. For example, if the rate of change between the currently measured transmission rate and the transmission rate most recently sent to the second device is greater than or equal to 20% (i.e., a first threshold), the first information corresponding to the current transmission rate is sent to the second device.

[0401] In some embodiments, the first information is sent to the second device based on one or more of the following:

[0402] RRC signaling;

[0403] NAS signaling.

[0404] In the case where the first device is a terminal device and the second device is an access network device (such as a base station), the first device can send the first information to the second device through RRC signaling.

[0405] When the first device is a terminal device and the second device is a core network device (e.g., SMF, UPF, AMF, etc.), the first device can send the first information to the second device via NAS signaling.

[0406] When the first device is an access network device and the second device is a core network device (e.g., SMF, UPF, AMF, etc.), the first device can send the first information to the second device through NAS signaling.

[0407] In some embodiments, the optional implementation of step S2301 is similar to step S2104 in the embodiment shown in FIG2a. For specific details, please refer to the embodiment shown in FIG2a above, which will not be repeated here.

[0408] Referring to Figure 2g, which is an exemplary interactive schematic diagram of a communication method provided according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, the communication method includes the following steps:

[0409] In step S2402, the network device sends the second information to the first device.

[0410] In some embodiments, the second information is used to instruct the first device to send the first information corresponding to the first data to the second device.

[0411] In some embodiments, the second information is used to instruct the first device to measure and obtain the transmission rate when transmitting first data based on one or more RATs.

[0412] In some embodiments, the second information includes, but is not limited to, one or more of the following:

[0413] 1. Data information, which is used to indicate one or more data, including the first data;

[0414] 2. Data type information: Data type information is used to indicate the data type of one or more data items. Data types include upstream data and / or downstream data.

[0415] 3. The length of the first time period. The first time period is used to obtain the transmission rate, which is the average of one or more measured rates within the first time period.

[0416] 4. Reporting methods for transmission rate, including periodic reporting and / or event-triggered reporting.

[0417] Methods for reporting transmission rate

[0418] In some embodiments, the network device in step S2402 can be a second network device. The second network device can be a core network device or a core network element (e.g., an SMF) or an access network device (e.g., a base station).

[0419] In some embodiments, the first data may be determined by the first device itself; for example, the first device may determine by itself that it needs to acquire the first data of the transmission rate.

[0420] In some embodiments, the first data may be protocol-defined, for example, the first data required to obtain the transmission rate is defined by the protocol.

[0421] In some embodiments, the first data may be indicated by the network device to the first device. The network device may use second information to indicate which data transmission rates the first device needs to measure. The network device may be a second network device, wherein, if the second device is a network device, the second network device may be the same network device as the first device, or it may be a different network device.

[0422] In some embodiments, the optional implementation of step S2401 is similar to step S2104 in the embodiment shown in FIG2a and step S2201 in the embodiment shown in FIG2b. For specific implementation, please refer to the embodiments shown in FIG2a and FIG2b above, which will not be repeated here.

[0423] In step S2402, the first device sends the first information corresponding to the first data to the second device.

[0424] In some embodiments, the first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting the first data based on multiple RATs.

[0425] In some embodiments, the first device may send the first information corresponding to the first data to the second device after measuring the transmission rate when transmitting the first data based on one or more RATs.

[0426] In some embodiments, the first data may be determined by the first device itself; for example, the first device may determine by itself the data that needs to be reported for the transmission rate.

[0427] In some embodiments, the first data may be protocol-defined, for example, the first data that the protocol defines as the data that the transmission rate needs to be reported.

[0428] In some embodiments, the first data may be indicated by the network device to the first device. The network device may use second information to instruct the first device to measure the transmission rate at which it acquires one or more RATs transmitting the first data. The network device may be a second network device; if the second device is a network device, it may be the same network device as the first device or a different network device.

[0429] In some embodiments, the first information is used by the second device to determine the transmission rate corresponding to one or more RATs when transmitting the first data based on multiple RATs.

[0430] In some embodiments, the transmission rate can be obtained by a first device measuring one or more RATs.

[0431] In some embodiments, the transmission rate may be measured by another device and sent to the first device. For example, if the first device is an access network device, the transmission rate may be measured by a terminal device and sent to the first device by the terminal device. Accordingly, after receiving the transmission rate corresponding to the first data, the first device sends the first information corresponding to the data to the second device.

[0432] In some embodiments, the first device may independently determine the time for measuring the transmission rate, the measurement period, the first time period, etc.

[0433] In some embodiments, the first device may also send first information corresponding to the first data to the second device based on the second information sent by the network device.

[0434] In some embodiments, the first information is sent to the second device based on one or more of the following:

[0435] RRC signaling;

[0436] NAS signaling.

[0437] In the case where the first device is a terminal device and the second device is an access network device (such as a base station), the first device can send the first information to the second device through RRC signaling.

[0438] When the first device is a terminal device and the second device is a core network device (e.g., SMF, UPF, AMF, etc.), the first device can send the first information to the second device via NAS signaling.

[0439] When the first device is an access network device and the second device is a core network device (e.g., SMF, UPF, AMF, etc.), the first device can send the first information to the second device through NAS signaling.

[0440] In some embodiments, the optional implementation of step S2402 is similar to step S2104 in the embodiment shown in FIG2a. For specific details, please refer to the embodiment shown in FIG2a above, which will not be repeated here.

[0441] The following is an exemplary embodiment of the communication method provided according to embodiments of this disclosure:

[0442] A communication method involves the core network device aggregating data streams sent / received by a terminal device through multiple RATs. The first device provides the network device with the data rate of a specific data stream from the terminal at a particular RAT. Here, data rate can also refer to the RAT's capacity, the data rate supported by the RAT, etc.

[0443] In some embodiments, the data stream is a service data stream.

[0444] In some embodiments, the data stream is a QoS stream.

[0445] In some embodiments, the data rate is the uplink data rate or the downlink data rate.

[0446] In some embodiments, the first device is a terminal device.

[0447] In some embodiments, the terminal device provides a data stream at a certain RAT data rate to the access network device (e.g., a base station). For example, the terminal provides information to the access network device via RRC signaling.

[0448] In some embodiments, the terminal provides a data stream at a certain RAT data rate to a core network device (e.g., AMF, SMF, or UPF). For example, the terminal provides information to the AMF via NAS signaling.

[0449] In some embodiments, the terminal determines the data rate based on the status of the radio channel in a certain RAT and information such as the relevant scheduling of the access network equipment.

[0450] In some embodiments, a terminal may provide the network with the data rate of a certain data stream across multiple RATs. For example, when data streams sent / received by the terminal via 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network, the terminal may provide the 6G RAT base station with the data rate of a certain data stream across 5G RAT and 6G RAT.

[0451] In some embodiments, the first device is an access network device (e.g., a base station), which provides a data stream of the terminal to the core network device (e.g., SMF or UPF) at a certain RAT data rate.

[0452] In some embodiments, the access network device determines the data rate based on information such as the status of the terminal's radio channel in a certain RAT and the access network device's data flow scheduling policy. For example, when data flows sent / received by the terminal via 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network, the access network device (6G RAT base station) can provide the data rate of the data flow in the 6G RAT based on information such as the status of the terminal's radio channel in the 6G RAT and the access network device's data flow scheduling policy.

[0453] In some embodiments, the access network device provides a data stream provided by the terminal to the core network device at a certain RAT data rate.

[0454] In some embodiments, the data rate is the average of multiple data rates within an average window.

[0455] In some embodiments, the network device configures the first device to send rate data to the network device. For example, the SMF configures the terminal or access network device to report rate measurements, or the access network device configures the terminal to report rate measurements. Specific configuration details may include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following:

[0456] 1. For which data streams are measurement and reporting work performed;

[0457] 2. Measurement direction: Downlink data, uplink data, or both;

[0458] 3. Average window length;

[0459] 4. Reporting type: Periodic reporting, or event-triggered reporting:

[0460] 5. For periodic reporting, configure the reporting cycle;

[0461] 6. For event-triggered reporting, corresponding event configurations also need to be configured. For example, it can be configured to only report when the data rate change exceeds a threshold (e.g., 20%). After the first device reports the data rate for the first time, subsequent data rate reports will only be made if the change in data rate relative to the previously reported data rate exceeds 20%.

[0462] In some embodiments, the terminal notifies the network terminal via UE capability signaling whether it supports providing a certain data stream to the network device at a certain RAT data rate. The UE capability can be an AS capability or a NAS capability.

[0463] In Example 1, taking the first device as the terminal device, the data streams sent / received by the terminal device through 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network. The SMF (i.e., the network device in step S2102 in the above embodiment) configures the terminal device to provide the data rate of the QoS stream with QFI of 1 in 5G RAT and 6G RAT. The average window length and reporting period are both 200 milliseconds.

[0464] Accordingly, within 200 milliseconds, the terminal device will measure one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT, and one OR measurement rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT, and average the one or more measurement rates to obtain the data rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT and the data rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT. The terminal device reports the data rate to the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiment). The terminal device can relay data through the 6G RAT base station via RRC signaling to send it to the SMF via the 6G RAT base station; or relay data through the AMF via NAS signaling carried in the RRC signaling to send it to the SMF via the AMF.

[0465] Accordingly, the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiments) instructs the UPF to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT based on the data rate reported by the terminal device (i.e., the first device). For example, how downlink data is switched or split between 5G RAT and 6G RAT. Alternatively, the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiments) can also instruct the terminal device to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT based on the data rate reported by the terminal device (i.e., the first device). For example, how uplink data is switched or split between 5G RAT and 6G RAT.

[0466] In Example 2, taking the first device as an access network device (e.g., a 6G RAT base station) as an example, the data streams sent / received by the terminal device through 5G RAT and 6G RAT are aggregated in the core network. The SMF (i.e., the network device in step S2102 in the above embodiment) configures the access network device (i.e., the first device, such as a 5G RAT base station and / or a 6G RAT base station) to provide the QoS stream with QFI of 1 at the data rate of 5G RAT and 6G RAT. The average window length and the reporting period are both 200 milliseconds.

[0467] Accordingly, the 5G RAT base station (i.e., the first device) will measure one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT within 200 milliseconds, and average the one or more measurement rates to obtain the data rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 5G RAT, and report the data rate to the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiment).

[0468] Similarly, the 6G RAT base station (i.e., the first device) will measure one or more measurement rates of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT within 200 milliseconds, and average the one or more measurement rates to obtain the data rate of the QoS stream with QFI 1 in the 6G RAT, and report the data rate to the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiment).

[0469] Accordingly, the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiments) can, based on the data rates reported by the 5G RAT base station and the 6G RAT base station, instruct the UPF to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT; for example, how downlink data is switched or split between the 5G RAT and 6G RAT. Alternatively, the SMF (i.e., the second device in the above embodiments) can also, based on the data rate reported by the first device, instruct the terminal device to adjust the aggregation parameters of the QoS stream with QFI=1 in the 5G RAT and 6G RAT; for example, how uplink data is switched or split between the 5G RAT and 6G RAT.

[0470] It should be noted that the above embodiments are all illustrated using QoS streams as an example, but are not limited thereto. The above embodiments are also applicable to the case of service data streams, which will not be elaborated here.

[0471] In the embodiments disclosed herein, some or all of the steps and their optional implementations may be arbitrarily combined with some or all of the steps in other embodiments, or may be arbitrarily combined with the optional implementations in other embodiments.

[0472] This disclosure also provides embodiments of an apparatus for implementing any of the above methods. For example, an apparatus is provided that includes units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the first device in any of the above methods. Alternatively, another apparatus is provided that includes units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the second device in any of the above methods.

[0473] It should be understood that the division of units or modules in the above device is only a logical functional division. In actual implementation, they can be fully or partially integrated into a single physical entity, or they can be physically separated. Furthermore, the units or modules in the device can be implemented by a processor calling software: for example, the device includes a processor connected to a memory containing instructions. The processor calls the instructions stored in the memory to implement any of the above methods or to implement the functions of the units or modules in the above device. The processor can be, for example, a general-purpose processor, such as a Central Processing Unit (CPU) or a microprocessor, and the memory can be internal or external to the device. Alternatively, the units or modules in the device can be implemented in the form of hardware circuits. The functionality of some or all of the units or modules can be achieved through the design of these hardware circuits, which can be understood as one or more processors. For example, in one implementation, the hardware circuit is an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). The functionality of some or all of the units or modules is achieved through the design of the logical relationships between the components within the circuit. In another implementation, the hardware circuit can be implemented using a programmable logic device (PLD). Taking a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) as an example, it can include a large number of logic gates. The connection relationships between the logic gates are configured through configuration files, thereby achieving the functionality of some or all of the units or modules. All units or modules of the above device can be implemented entirely through processor-called software, entirely through hardware circuits, or partially through processor-called software with the remaining parts implemented through hardware circuits.

[0474] In this embodiment, the processor is a circuit with signal processing capabilities. In one implementation, the processor can be a circuit with instruction read and execute capabilities, such as a Central Processing Unit (CPU), a microprocessor, a graphics processing unit (GPU) (which can be understood as a microprocessor), or a digital signal processor (DSP). In another implementation, the processor can implement certain functions through the logical relationships of hardware circuits. The logical relationships of the aforementioned hardware circuits are fixed or reconfigurable. For example, the processor is a hardware circuit implemented using an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) or a programmable logic device (PLD), such as an FPGA. In a reconfigurable hardware circuit, the process of the processor loading a configuration document and configuring the hardware circuit can be understood as the process of the processor loading instructions to implement the functions of some or all of the above units or modules. Furthermore, it can also be a hardware circuit designed for artificial intelligence, which can be understood as an ASIC, such as a Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU), a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), or a Deep Learning Processing Unit (DPU).
