[0237] In some embodiments, when a non-3GPP device connects to a UE, the UE can bind a non-3GPP device identifier to the non-3GPP device for services requiring differentiation of Quality of Service (QoS) between the non-3GPP devices. This binding enables the communication system to distinguish traffic generated by different non-3GPP devices connected through the same UE.

[0238] In some embodiments, how the UE identifies a non-3GPP device and binds the non-3GPP device identifier to the non-3GPP device is implementation-specific.

[0239] In some embodiments, at any given time, a non-3GPP device identifier can only be bound to one non-3GPP device.

[0240] In some embodiments, non-3GPP device identifier information is stored in the UDR and includes non-3GPP device identifier and QoS information.

[0241] In some embodiments, NF registration in NRF does not support the ability to store / manage data of non-3GPP devices, and UDM / UDR does not support the ability to store / manage data of non-3GPP devices.

[0242] Figure 2A is an interactive schematic diagram illustrating a communication method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 2A, the embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a communication method, which includes:

[0243] Step S2101: The third network element sends a third request to the fourth network element.

[0244] In some embodiments, the fourth network element can receive a third request. For example, the fourth network element can receive a third request sent by a third network element. As another example, the fourth network element can also receive a third request sent by other entities.

[0245] In some embodiments, the third network element may be, for example, AF / AS, and the fourth network element may be, for example, NEF.

[0246] In some embodiments, the third request may include data capability information of the second device.

[0247] In some embodiments, the third request may also be referred to as a "device data capability registration request", etc.

[0257] The address of the second device.

[0258] In some embodiments, the device identifier may also be referred to as the device ID, such as the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) or device identifier, which is assigned by the network, UE, or service provider.

[0259] In some embodiments, the device function may be a function possessed by a second device, such as a camera or a sensor.

[0260] In some embodiments, device functionality may also be referred to as “device capability”, “device capability”, etc.

[0261] In some embodiments, the device type is a non-3GPP device.

[0262] In some embodiments, the data type may include at least one of the following: video data, sensing data, and location data. The data type that the second device can provide may be determined according to the device functions of the second device. For example, if the device functions of the second device include a camera, the data type may be video data; if the device functions of the second device include a sensor, the data type may be sensing data.

[0263] In some embodiments, the data format can be determined based on the data type, for example, it can be 3K or 4K.

[0264] In some embodiments, the terminal identifier associated with the second device may be the identifier of a terminal connected to the second device.

[0265] In some embodiments, the user consent information may indicate the purpose for which the user needs to authorize the use of the data collected by the second device, i.e., authorization from the second device is required when using the data collected by the second device; the user consent information may also indicate the purpose for which the user does not need to authorize the use of the data collected by the second device, i.e., authorization from the second device is not required when using the data collected by the second device.

[0272] In some embodiments, the fifth network element includes the first network element and / or the second network element.

[0273] In some embodiments, the first network element may be, for example, a DCF, and the second network element may be, for example, an NRF, a UDR, or a UDM.

[0274] In some embodiments, the second request is used to request the fifth network element to store the data capability information of the second device.

[0275] In some embodiments, the second request includes data capability information of the second device. In some embodiments, after receiving the third request sent by the third network element, the fourth network element may send a second request to the first network element to request the first network element to store the data capability information of the second device; after receiving the third request sent by the third network element, the fourth network element may also send a second request to the second network element to request the second network element to store the data capability information of the second device.

[0276] In some embodiments, after receiving a third request from a third network element, the fourth network element can determine whether the third request or the third network element is allowed to request the storage of data capability information of the second device.

[0277] For example, the fourth network element can verify the third request. If the verification passes, it determines that the third request is allowed to request the storage of the second device's data capability information. This can intercept illegal requests and improve the security of the network element. As another example, the fourth network element can verify the permissions of the third network element. If the verification passes, it determines that the third network element is allowed to request the storage of the second device's data capability information. This can prevent unauthorized network elements (such as compromised or forged third network elements) from illegally storing or tampering with the second device's data capability information, thereby protecting data integrity.

[0278] In some embodiments, if the fourth network element determines that the third request and / or the third network element is permitted to request the storage of data capability information of the second device, it sends a second request to the first network element and / or the second network element.

[0279] In some embodiments, steps S2103 and S2104 can be omitted if the fourth network element does not send a second request to the first network element; steps S2105 and S2106 can be omitted if the fourth network element does not send a second request to the second network element.

[0280] In some embodiments, the fourth network element may send a second request to the first network element and / or the second network element according to the protocol agreement or dynamic instructions.

[0281] Step S2103: The first network element stores the data capability information of the second device.

[0282] In some embodiments, after receiving the second request sent by the fourth network element, the first network element may store the data capability information of the second device.

[0283] Step S2104: The first network element sends a second response message to the fourth network element.

[0284] In some embodiments, the second response message includes the storage result of the data capability information of the second device.

[0285] In some embodiments, after the first network element stores the data capability information of the second device, it can send the second response message to the fourth network element to inform the fourth network element whether the data capability information of the second device has been stored.

[0286] Step S2105: The second network element stores the data capability information of the second device.

[0287] In some embodiments, after receiving a second request from a fourth network element, the second network element may store the data capability information of the second device.

[0288] Step S2106: The second network element sends a second response message to the fourth network element.

[0289] In some embodiments, the second response message includes the storage result of the data capability information of the second device.

[0290] In some embodiments, after storing the data capability information of the second device, the second network element can send the second response message to the fourth network element to inform the fourth network element whether the data capability information of the second device has been stored.

[0291] Step S2107: The fourth network element sends a third response message to the third network element based on the second response message.

[0292] In some embodiments, after receiving the second response message sent by the first network element, the fourth network element may send a third response message to the third network element based on the second response message, informing the third network element whether the data capability information of the second device has been stored.

[0293] In some embodiments, after receiving the second response message sent by the second network element, the fourth network element may send a third response message to the third network element based on the second response message, informing the third network element whether the data capability information of the second device has been stored.

[0294] In some embodiments, after receiving the second response message sent by the first network element and the second response message sent by the second network element, the fourth network element may combine the two second response messages and send a third response message to the third network element, informing the third network element of the storage results of the data capability information of the second device by the first network element and the second network element.

[0295] In some embodiments, the data capability information of the second device may also be pre-configured in the first network element and / or the second network element, in which case some or all of the steps in steps S2101 to S2107 may be omitted.

[0296] Step S2108: The first network element receives a data collection request.

[0297] In some embodiments, the data collection request may be sent by an internal or external consumer.

[0298] Step S2109: The first network element sends a first request to the second network element.

[0299] In some embodiments, when a first network element determines that data needs to be collected from a first device based on a data collection request, it can obtain a candidate device list. This candidate device list is used by the first network element to select a suitable device for data collection. Optionally, the candidate device list is determined from at least one second device. It should be understood that the candidate device list includes at least one second device.

[0300] In some embodiments, the data collection request may include at least one of the following: device identifier, data type, data format, and area for data collection.

[0301] In some embodiments, the first network element may send a first request to the second network element to obtain the candidate device list.

[0302] In some embodiments, the first request may include at least one of the following: device identifier, data type, data format, and area for collecting data.

[0303] In some embodiments, the first network element may also determine the candidate device list from at least one second device based on the data capability information of at least one second device stored therein, in which case steps S2109 to S2111 may be omitted.

[0304] In some embodiments, the first network element may determine the second device that matches the received data collection request based on the data capability information of at least one second device stored in the network, thereby obtaining the candidate device list.

[0305] For example, if the data collection request includes a device identifier, the first network element can select a second device from at least one second device that has the same device identifier as indicated by the data collection request, based on the stored data capability information of at least one second device, to obtain the candidate device list; if the data collection request includes a data type, the first network element can select a second device from at least one second device that can support the data type indicated by the data collection request, based on the stored data capability information of at least one second device, to obtain the candidate device list; if the data collection request includes a data collection area, the first network element can select a second device from at least one second device within the area indicated by the data collection request, based on the stored data capability information of at least one second device, to obtain the candidate device list.

[0306] Step S2110: The second network element determines a candidate device list from at least one second device based on the first request and the data capability information of at least one second device stored therein.

[0307] In some embodiments, after receiving a first request from a first network element, the second network element can determine a second device that matches the received first request based on the data capability information of at least one second device stored therein, and obtain the candidate device list.

[0308] For example, if the first request includes a device identifier, the first device can select a second device with the same device identifier as indicated by the first request from at least one second device based on the stored data capability information of at least one second device, thus obtaining the candidate device list; if the first request includes a data type, the first device can select a second device capable of supporting the data type indicated by the first request from at least one second device based on the stored data capability information of at least one second device, thus obtaining the candidate device list; if the first request includes a data collection area, the first device can select a second device within the area indicated by the first request from at least one second device based on the stored data capability information of at least one second device, thus obtaining the candidate device list.

[0309] Step S2111: The second network element sends a first response message to the first network element.

[0310] In some embodiments, the first response message may include the list of candidate devices.

[0311] In some embodiments, after the second network element determines the candidate device list, it can send a first response message to the first network element so that the first network element can obtain the candidate device list.

[0312] Step S2112: The first network element sends a first connection establishment request to the first device.

[0313] In some embodiments, the first device may include at least one device from the candidate device list.

[0314] In some embodiments, after the first network element determines a list of candidate devices or receives a list of candidate devices sent by the second network element, it can select one or more devices from the list of candidate devices and send a first connection establishment request to the selected one or more devices to request to establish a connection with the selected one or more devices.

[0315] For example, the first network element can send a first connection establishment request to any one or more devices in the candidate device list, and different devices can correspond to different first connection establishment requests.

[0316] In some embodiments, the first connection establishment request may include at least one of the following: the device identifier of the first device, the address of the first network element, and information about the data to be collected.

[0317] In some embodiments, the information of the data to be collected may include, for example, the data type, data format, and data volume.

[0318] Step S2113: The first device sends a first connection establishment response message to the first network element.

[0319] In some embodiments, after receiving a first connection establishment request sent by a first network element, the first device can establish a connection with the first network element and send a first connection establishment response message to the first network element.

[0320] In some embodiments, the first connection establishment response message includes at least one of the following: connection establishment result, address of the first device.

[0321] In some embodiments, the connection establishment result can be either a successful connection or a connection failure.

[0322] Step S2114: The first device sends its data to the first network element.

[0323] In some embodiments, after the first device successfully establishes a connection with the first network element, the first device can send the collected data to the first network element according to the address of the first network element.

[0324] Using the above method, the first network element and the second network element can store the data capability information of non-3GPP equipment according to the instructions, realizing the secure storage of the data capability information of non-3GPP equipment. Furthermore, the first network element can match the first device that collects data based on the stored data capability information of the second device, establish a connection with the first device, and obtain the data collected by the first device, thereby improving the accuracy of the data collection process and reducing invalid signaling interactions and resource waste.

[0584] In some embodiments of this disclosure, it is proposed to register the data capability information (non-3GPP device identifier, device function, device type, data format, IP / MAC address) of non-3GPP devices to a 6G network without a UE (e.g., NRF, UDR / UDM, DCF), with the following enhancements: 1) DCF (data collection function) is used to discover and select non-3GPP devices as data source entities from NRF / UDR / UDM based on data collection service requests; 2) DCF uses the IP address of the registered non-3GPP device to establish a data connection between DCF and the non-3GPP device; or DCF establishes a data connection with AF / AS, and AF / AS establishes a data connection with the non-3GPP device.

[0585] Figure 5A is a schematic diagram of the framework of a receipt collection service according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 5A, a new data collection function is defined for collecting and managing different types of data from different data source entities (e.g., UE, NWDAF, LMF, UDM, AF, Analytical Data Repository Function (ADRF), etc.). In Figure 5A, SMF stands for Session Management Function.

[0586] In some embodiments, the DCF can support the collection and transmission of data via control plane and user plane connections, and also supports the transmission of collected data to data consumers (e.g., third parties, NFs, UEs) via control plane / user plane connections.

[0587] In some embodiments, when a data collection service request is received from a data collection service consumer (e.g., AF, NF, etc.), the DCF supports the discovery and selection of data source entities (e.g., UE, NWDAF, LMF, UDM) based on the data collection service request and the UE / NF data capabilities registered in the data capability management function (e.g., NRF, UDR / UDM, DCF).

[0588] In some embodiments, DCF also supports processing the collected data, such as coordinating different data collection service consumers that request the same data, thus avoiding wasting resources on transmitting the same data repeatedly, and also supports data format conversion, data normalization, domain-specific anonymization of data, data aggregation, etc.

[0589] In some embodiments, DCF supports a user consent mechanism to ensure data privacy. This mechanism can be at a more granular level, such as user consent by data type or by consumer ID / name.

[0590] In some embodiments, UE data capabilities are used to indicate what types of data the UE / device can generate or provide, such as camera, video data, formats [3K, 4K]; sensor, sensor data, formats [].

[0591] In some embodiments, UE data capability information is defined to include the following parameters:

[0592] UE ID (e.g., SUPI, GPSI, device identifier, etc.);

[0593] Device capabilities, such as cameras and sensors;

[0594] Device type, such as UE, non-3GPP device, network function, or AF;

[0595] Data types, such as video data, sensor data, and location data;

[0596] Data format, such as 3K, 4K;

[0597] User consent indicates whether user consent is required for the purpose of using each or all data.

[0598] Data transmission capabilities, including the user plane (UP) and / or control plane (CP);

[0599] IP / MAC address / port information.

[0600] In some embodiments, NF data capability information includes the following parameters:

[0601] NF ID / Instance ID;

[0602] Data type;

[0603] Data format;

[0604] Data transmission capability, C and / or UP;

[0605] IP address / FQDN.

[0606] In some embodiments, non-3GPP device data capability information is defined as including the following parameters:

[0607] Device ID, such as IMEI or non-3GPP device identifier (e.g., assigned by the network, UE, or service provider);

[0608] Equipment capabilities;

[0609] Equipment type;

[0610] Data format;

[0611] Associated UE ID;

[0612] User consent information;

[0613] IP / MAC address;

[0614] In some embodiments, for data collection from non-3GPP devices without a UE, it is assumed that the non-3GPP device data capability is registered or pre-configured in a 6G network function (e.g., NRF, DCF, or UDR / UDM). The network function (DCF) can establish a data connection to the non-3GPP device and collect the required data from it. The following options are available:

[0615] As a network server, DCF can directly establish IP connections with non-3GPP devices;

[0616] DCF can establish IP connections to AF / AS, and AF / AS can establish data connections between AS / AF and non-3GPP devices.

[0617] The DCF establishes a channel to the UPF, and the UPF forwards data from / to non-3GPP devices.

[0620] In some embodiments, non-3GPP device data capability information is pre-configured in the core network functions responsible for storing and managing non-3GPP device data capabilities, such as NRF, UDR / UDM, or DCF.

[0621] In some embodiments, non-3GPP device data capability information includes at least one of the following: device ID, device function / capability, device type, data format, and IP / MAC address.

[0622] Step S5201b: AF sends a device data capability registration request to NEF.

[0623] In some embodiments, the data capability registration request includes data capability information for non-3GPP devices.

[0624] Step S5202: NEF sends a device data capability registration request to the network function responsible for storing / managing the data capabilities of non-3GPP devices.

[0625] In some embodiments, the NEF checks whether the data capability registration request or the AF is allowed to request such a service. If the data capability registration request or the AF is allowed to request such a service, the NEF sends the device data capability registration request to the network function (e.g., NRF, UDR / UDM, or DCF) responsible for storing / managing the data capabilities of non-3GPP devices.

[0626] Step S5203: The storage / management NF sends a response message including the result to the NEF.

[0627] Step S5204: NEF sends a response message including the result to AF / AS.

[0628] Step S5205: DCF determines which non-3GPP devices to collect data from based on data collection requests from internal or external consumers.

[0629] Step S5206: DCF sends a discovery and selection request to NRF / UDR / UDM.

[0630] In some embodiments, the request may include a non-3GPP device ID (optional), data type, data format, region, etc.

[0631] Step S5207: NRF / UDR / UDM sends a discovery and selection response to DCF.

[0632] In some embodiments, the discovery and selection response includes a list of candidate devices, such as non-3GPP devices or IP addresses.

[0633] Step S5208: The DCF sends a data connection establishment request directly to the AF or through the NEF to the AF, or through the AF to a non-3GPP device.

[0634] In some embodiments, DCF selects a list of candidate non-3GPP devices based on the conditions in the request message.

[0635] In some embodiments, the data connection establishment request includes a non-3GPP device ID, the DCF's IP address, a data collection instruction, and data information, such as a data format.

[0636] Step S5209: DCF receives data and establishes connection response.

[0637] In some embodiments, the data connection establishment response includes a result and an optional new IP address for a non-3GPP device.

[0638] In some embodiments, non-3GPP devices can upload data to the DCF.

[0639] This disclosure also proposes an apparatus (also referred to as a communication device, etc.) for implementing any of the above methods. For example, an apparatus is proposed, comprising units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the first network element in any of the above methods. Another apparatus is proposed, comprising units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the second network element in any of the above methods. Yet another apparatus is proposed, comprising units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the third network element in any of the above methods. Another apparatus is proposed, comprising units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the fourth network element in any of the above methods. Yet another apparatus is proposed, comprising units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the first device in any of the above methods. And yet another apparatus is proposed, comprising units or modules for implementing the steps performed by the terminal in any of the above methods.

[0640] It should be understood that the division of units or modules in the above device is only a logical functional division. In actual implementation, they can be fully or partially integrated into a single physical entity, or they can be physically separated. Furthermore, the units or modules in the device can be implemented by a processor calling software: for example, the device includes a processor connected to a memory containing instructions. The processor calls the instructions stored in the memory to implement any of the above methods or to implement the functions of the units or modules in the above device. The processor can be, for example, a general-purpose processor, such as a Central Processing Unit (CPU) or a microprocessor, and the memory can be internal or external to the device. Alternatively, the units or modules in the device can be implemented in the form of hardware circuits. The functionality of some or all of the units or modules can be achieved through the design of these hardware circuits, which can be understood as one or more processors. For example, in one implementation, the hardware circuit is an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC). The functionality of some or all of the units or modules is achieved through the design of the logical relationships between the components within the circuit. In another implementation, the hardware circuit can be implemented using a programmable logic device (PLD). Taking a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) as an example, it can include a large number of logic gates. The connection relationships between the logic gates are configured through configuration files, thereby achieving the functionality of some or all of the units or modules. All units or modules of the above device can be implemented entirely through processor-called software, entirely through hardware circuits, or partially through processor-called software with the remaining parts implemented through hardware circuits.

[0641] In this embodiment, the processor is a circuit with signal processing capabilities. In one implementation, the processor can be a circuit with instruction read and execute capabilities, such as a Central Processing Unit (CPU), a microprocessor, a graphics processing unit (GPU) (which can be understood as a microprocessor), or a digital signal processor (DSP). In another implementation, the processor can implement certain functions through the logical relationships of hardware circuits. The logical relationships of the aforementioned hardware circuits are fixed or reconfigurable. For example, the processor is a hardware circuit implemented using an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) or a programmable logic device (PLD), such as an FPGA. In a reconfigurable hardware circuit, the process of the processor loading a configuration document and configuring the hardware circuit can be understood as the process of the processor loading instructions to implement the functions of some or all of the above units or modules. Furthermore, it can also be a hardware circuit designed for artificial intelligence, which can be understood as an ASIC, such as a Neural Network Processing Unit (NPU), a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU), or a Deep Learning Processing Unit (DPU).
