Description

A resource allocation method, device, medium, and program product

[0001] Cross-reference to related applications

[0002] This application claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. 202510480232.X, filed on April 16, 2025, entitled “A Resource Allocation Method, Apparatus, Medium and Program Product”, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field

[0003] This application relates to the field of communication technology, and in particular to a resource allocation method, device, medium, and program product. Background Technology

[0004] Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) have large coverage areas and long signal transmission distances. NTN cells can contain hundreds or even thousands of beams. To support the multi-beam capability of NTN cells and meet their wide coverage requirements, the Synchronization Signal Block (SSB) period has been extended to a maximum of 640 milliseconds (ms). If 8 SSBs are transmitted every 20 ms, the number of beams supported within 640 ms can be 640 / 20*8 = 256.

[0005] According to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) protocol, the relationship between Random Access Occasion (RO) resources and SSB beams in the Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) is as follows: the number N of SSBs associated with each RO is determined by SSB-per-rach-occasion (the number of SSBs per random access occasion and the contention of each SSB based on the number of preambles) in the parameter ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB-Preambles-PerSSB (the number of SSBs per random access occasion and the contention of each SSB based on the number of preambles). Meanwhile, the number R of contention-based preambles that each SSB can use within one valid PRACH occasion is determined by CB-preambles-perSSB (the contention of each SSB based on the number of preambles).

[0006] The set of values for SSB-per-rach-occasion is {1 / 8, 1 / 4, 1 / 2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16}, where 1 / 8 indicates that one SSB is associated with eight ROs, and 8 indicates that eight SSBs are associated with one RO. When multiple SSBs are associated with the same RO, different SSBs use different RACH preamble sequences to distinguish them. The maximum number of RACH preamble sequences that can be configured in a single cell is 64.

[0007] When the total number of configured SSBs increases to 256, that is, 8 SSBs are sent every 20ms, and 1 RO is configured every 20ms, that is, the SSB-per-rach-occasion is configured to be 8. The 8 SSBs within 20ms are associated with the same RO within 20ms. At this time, the maximum number of PRACH preamble sequences for each SSB is 8 (64 / 8). When the SSB-per-rach-occasion is 4, the 4 SSBs within 20ms are associated with 1 RO within 20ms. Then the maximum number of PRACH preamble sequences for each SSB is 16 (64 / 4). In this case, the probability of preamble sequence collision is reduced by half compared to the former, but it takes 1280ms to complete one beam traversal, and the terminal access latency increases significantly.

[0008] In summary, the current 3GPP-supported limited number of PRACH sequences and RO association methods are insufficient to effectively balance the probability of preamble sequence collisions and terminal access latency. Summary of the Invention

The signaling messages include at least PRACH resource parameters indicating the RO resources associated with each SSB beam, and the number of RO resources associated with the first SSB beam and the second SSB beam is different. This configuration method allows different RO resources to be configured for different SSB beams. For example, more RO resources can be configured for SSB beams with higher loads, and fewer RO resources can be configured for SSB beams with lower loads. This increases the number of PRACH preamble sequences that each SSB can use without reducing the number of SSBs transmitted per SSB cycle, thereby reducing the probability of preamble sequence collisions and avoiding a significant increase in terminal access latency.

Based on the embodiments in this application, all other embodiments obtained by those skilled in the art without creative effort are within the scope of protection of this application.

[0104] In the embodiments of this application, the term "and / or" describes the relationship between associated objects, indicating that three relationships can exist. For example, A and / or B can represent three cases: A alone, A and B simultaneously, and B alone. The character " / " generally indicates that the preceding and following associated objects have an "or" relationship.

[0105] The application scenarios described in this application are for the purpose of more clearly illustrating the technical solutions of this application, and do not constitute a limitation on the technical solutions provided in this application. Those skilled in the art will understand that with the emergence of new application scenarios, the technical solutions provided in this application are also applicable to similar technical problems. In the description of this application, unless otherwise stated, "multiple" means two or more.

[0106] Before introducing the resource configuration method provided in the embodiments of this application, for ease of understanding, the technical background of the embodiments of this application will be described in detail below.

[0107] NTN has a large coverage area and long signal transmission distance. The number of beams in an NTN cell may be in the hundreds or thousands. To support the multi-beam capability of NTN cells and meet the wide coverage requirements of NTN, the SSB period has been extended to a maximum of 640 milliseconds (ms). If 8 SSBs are sent every 20 ms, the number of beams supported within 640 ms can be 640 / 20*8 = 256.

[0108] According to the 3GPP protocol, the relationship between RO resources and SSB beams in PRACH is as follows: the number N of SSBs associated with each RO is determined by SSB-per-rach-occasion in the parameter ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB-Preambles-PerSSB, while the number R of contention-based preambles that each SSB can use within one valid PRACH opportunity is determined by CB-preambles-perSSB.

[0109] The set of values for SSB-per-rach-occasion is {1 / 8, 1 / 4, 1 / 2, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16}, where 1 / 8 indicates that one SSB is associated with eight ROs, and 8 indicates that eight SSBs are associated with one RO. When multiple SSBs are associated with the same RO, different SSBs use different RACH preamble sequences to distinguish them. The maximum number of RACH preamble sequences that can be configured in a single cell is 64.

[0110] When the total number of configured SSBs increases to 256, that is, 8 SSBs are sent every 20ms, and 1 RO is configured every 20ms, that is, the SSB-per-rach-occasion is configured to be 8.

[0111] In summary, the current 3GPP-supported limited number of PRACH sequences and RO association methods are insufficient to effectively balance the probability of preamble sequence collisions and terminal access latency.

[0112] In view of this, the resource configuration method, device, medium, and program product provided in this application embodiment involves a base station sending SSB beams to a serving cell and broadcasting signaling messages to the serving cell.

[0113] This application introduces new signaling parameters to enable differentiated and flexible RO resource configuration among beams, thereby addressing the challenge of flexibly balancing system access latency and service rates in NTN multi-beam wide-coverage scenarios where the varying RO resource requirements for random access across different beams make it difficult to achieve a balance.

[0114] After introducing the technical background of the resource configuration scheme provided in the embodiments of this application, the implementation process of the resource configuration method provided in the embodiments of this application on the base station side and the terminal side will be described in detail below with reference to specific embodiments.

[0115] On the base station side, as shown in Figure 1, the resource configuration method provided in this embodiment of the application is implemented as follows:

[0116] Step 101: Send the SSB beam to the serving cell.

[0117] In practice, the base station periodically transmits SSB beams in different directions within the serving cell. The SSB contains synchronization signals and broadcast information. The terminal selects the optimal beam for access by measuring the Reference Signal Receiving Power (RSRP) or Signal-to-Interference Plus Noise Ratio (SNR) of each SSB beam. The terminal completes cell search, time synchronization, frequency synchronization, and obtains system information by scanning the SSB beams.

[0118] Step 102: Broadcast a signaling message to the serving cell. The signaling message includes at least PRACH resource parameters for indicating the RO resources associated with each SSB beam, wherein the number of RO resources associated with the first SSB beam and the second SSB beam is different.

[0119] In practice, the base station also needs to broadcast signaling messages (such as SIB1 (System Information Block) messages) to the serving cell to configure the RO resources that the terminal can use during random access.

[0120] Steps 101 and 102 in this embodiment are not intended to limit the order in which the base station sends the SSB beam and broadcast signaling messages to the serving cell. In practical applications, the base station may send the SSB beam to the serving cell first, and then broadcast the signaling messages to the serving cell; or it may broadcast the signaling messages to the serving cell first, and then send the SSB beam; or it may send the SSB beam and signaling messages to the serving cell simultaneously.

[0121] It should be noted that the number of RO resources associated with the first SSB beam and the second SSB beam is different. Here, "first SSB beam" and "second SSB beam" do not specifically refer to the first and second SSB beams transmitted by the base station; they can be any SSB beam from multiple SSB beams. In other words, the different number of RO resources associated with the first and second SSB beams indicates that there are differences in the RO resources associated with different SSB beams, and that some SSB beams have a different number of RO resources associated with them than others.

[0122] In specific implementation, PRACH resource parameters can take different forms. Depending on the form of the PRACH resource parameters, the embodiments of this application can have the following implementation methods.

[0123] Implementation method one: PRACH resource parameters include: first resource association parameters and / or second resource association parameters.

[0124] The first resource association parameter is configured for SSB beams with a load greater than a preset load threshold, and the second resource association parameter is configured for SSB beams with a load less than or equal to the preset load threshold. The number of RO resources associated with the first resource association parameter is greater than the number of RO resources associated with the second resource association parameter.

[0125] In practice, the base station can configure the number of RO resources associated with each SSB beam differently according to the load of each SSB beam, configuring more RO resources for SSB beams with higher load and fewer RO resources for SSB beams with lower load.

[0126] Specifically, the base station can periodically count the number of PRACHs detected on the ROs associated with each beam within the serving cell, and use the ratio of the number of PRACHs detected by each beam within a preset time period (which can be freely set based on experience, such as one day or one week) to the number of RO resources to characterize the load of each beam. In this way, if the ratio of the number of PRACHs detected by a certain beam within a preset time period to the number of RO resources is greater than a preset threshold (set based on experience), it can be determined that the load of that beam is relatively high.

[0127] Of course, in practical applications, operators can also initialize the number of terminals served by each beam before base station deployment, based on the number of terminals in each beam within the base station's coverage area. The number of terminals served by each beam can then represent the load of that beam. In this approach, if the number of terminals served by a certain beam is greater than a preset value (set based on experience), it can be determined that the beam has a high load.

[0128] Specifically, when configuring RO resources associated with multiple SSB beams differently based on their loads, for any SSB beam, if it is determined that the load of the SSB beam is greater than a preset load threshold, a first resource association parameter is configured for the SSB beam; if it is determined that the load of the SSB beam is less than or equal to the preset load threshold, a second resource association parameter is configured for the SSB beam. The preset load threshold can be set empirically, and this embodiment does not limit its implementation.

[0129] In one example, as shown in Figure 2, assuming the first resource association parameter is {2}, the second resource association parameter is {1}, and the load of SSB1 is greater than the preset load threshold, while the loads of SSB0 and SSB2 are less than the preset load threshold, taking one RO every 20ms as an example, then SSB0 can use the first RO, SSB1 can use the second and third ROs, and SSB2 can use the fourth RO. This is the association relationship between the SSB beam and the RO resources.

[0130] In practice, when a base station broadcasts a signaling message (such as an SIB1 message), the signaling message may also include the identifier of the SSB beam whose load is greater than a preset load threshold, so that the terminal can determine the resource association parameters corresponding to each SSB beam.

[0131] Of course, the base station can also add the identifiers of SSB beams with loads exceeding a preset load threshold to a pre-created beam identifier set, and then add the beam identifier set to the signaling message for broadcast, so that the terminal can determine the resource association parameters corresponding to each SSB beam.

[0132] In other embodiments of this application, the base station may also add the index number of SSB beams with a load greater than a preset load threshold to the signaling message for broadcast, so that the terminal can determine the resource association parameters corresponding to each SSB beam.

[0133] For example, assuming that the load of 10 SSB beams is greater than a preset load threshold, the base station can set the index numbers of these 10 SSB beams to 0-9, and then the base station adds the index numbers 0-9 to the signaling message for broadcast, so as to inform the terminal that the SSB beams with index numbers 0-9 are SSB beams with a load greater than the preset load threshold.

[0134] Of course, in practical applications, after configuring differentiated resource association parameters for different SSB beams, the base station can also increase the RO resources corresponding to some SSB beams by configuring at least two periods of PRACH resources.

[0135] In one example, as shown in Figure 3, two periods of PRACH resources are configured. The first PRACH resource is one RO every 20ms, and the second PRACH resource is one RO every 40ms. Then, if the RO resources in the current period can be used in each SSB period, after the PRACH resources of the two periods are superimposed, SSB0 and SSB2 can use one RO, and SSB1 and SSB3 can use two ROs.

[0136] It should be noted that the configuration of at least two PRACH resources mentioned in the embodiments of this application refers to multiple PRACH resources having at least two periods, and there is no limitation on the number of PRACH resources. For example, two PRACH resources with periods of 20ms and 40ms respectively; three PRACH resources with periods of 20ms, 20ms, and 40ms respectively; and four PRACH resources with periods of 20ms, 40ms, 40ms, and 80ms respectively.

[0137] The specific implementation process of configuring resource association parameters for the base station is explained below with reference to Figure 4. As shown in Figure 4, taking the number of terminals covered by each SSB beam to represent the load of the SSB beam as an example, the specific implementation process of configuring resource association parameters for the base station includes:

[0138] Step 401: The base station counts the number of terminals covered by each SSB beam within the cell.

[0139] Step 402: Determine whether the number of terminals covered by each SSB beam is greater than a preset value. If yes, proceed to step 403; otherwise, proceed to step 405.

[0140] Step 403: Add the identifiers of SSB beams with a number of covered terminals greater than a preset value to a pre-created beam identifier set.

[0141] Step 404: The base station configures the first resource association parameter for the SSB beam in the beam identifier set.

[0142] Step 405: The base station configures the second resource association parameter for the SSB beam with a number of covered terminals that is less than or equal to a preset value.

[0143] Among them, the number of RO resources associated with the first resource association parameter is greater than the number of RO resources associated with the second resource association parameter.

[0144] Step 406: Configure PRACH resources for at least two cycles and increase RO resources within some SSB cycles.

[0145] Implementation Method 2: PRACH resource parameters include: SSB beam grouping and the number of RO resources associated with each SSB beam group.

[0146] In this implementation, the base station can group the SSB beams and allocate RO resources on a group basis.

[0147] In practice, the base station can group the SSB beams. For example, if the period of an SSB beam is 20ms, then SSB beams with N periods can be grouped together, where N is a positive integer. For example, SSB beams with 80ms periods can be grouped together. After grouping the SSB beams, the associated RO resources are configured for each group of SSB beams at the granularity of the SSB group, that is, configuring ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB-Preambles-PerSSB.

[0148] In one example, if the SSB transmission pattern obtained from the SSB configuration parameters is that one SSB is sent every 20ms, and a total of 10 SSBs are sent, then the number of SSB beam groups is considered to be 10. The resource configuration parameter set issued by the base station includes 10 configuration parameters, corresponding to each SSB beam group, which are: { ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB-Preambles-PerSSB-0 , ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB-Preambles-PerSSB-1 , … , ssb-perRACH-OccasionAndCB-Preambles-PerSSB-9}.

[0149] Of course, in practical applications, after configuring differentiated resource association parameters for different SSB beams, the base station can also increase the RO resources corresponding to some SSB beams by configuring at least two periods of PRACH resources. The specific implementation method is similar to that of implementation method one.

[0150] Implementation Method 3: PRACH resource parameters include: at least two periods of PRACH resources.

[0151] In this implementation, at least two PRACH resources are superimposed on RO resources within the SSB cycle. After superposition, the RO resources of different SSB cycles are different. As shown in Figure 3 above, SSB0 and SSB2 can use one RO, while SSB1 and SSB3 can use two ROs.

[0152] It should be noted that the configuration of at least two PRACH resources mentioned in the embodiments of this application refers to multiple PRACH resources having at least two periods, and there is no limitation on the number of PRACH resources. For example, two PRACH resources with periods of 20ms and 40ms respectively; three PRACH resources with periods of 20ms, 20ms, and 40ms respectively; and four PRACH resources with periods of 20ms, 40ms, 40ms, and 80ms respectively.

[0153] It should be noted that Implementation Method 3 can be used in combination with Implementation Method 1 and Implementation Method 2, or it can be used alone. When Implementation Method 3 is implemented alone, the SSB can be configured to associate the RO resources within the SSB cycle to increase the RO resources within the SSB cycle.

[0154] In this application embodiment, the base station can configure different RO resources for SSB beams with different loads. For example, more RO resources can be configured for SSB beams with higher loads, and fewer RO resources can be configured for SSB beams with lower loads. In this way, the number of SSBs transmitted in each SSB cycle can be increased, while the number of PRACH preamble sequences that each SSB in the SSB beam with higher load can be increased. This reduces the probability of preamble sequence collisions and avoids a significant increase in terminal access latency.

[0155] Accordingly, on the terminal side, as shown in Figure 5, the resource configuration method provided in this application embodiment includes the following specific implementation process:

[0156] Step 501: Receive the SSB beam sent by the base station.

[0157] Step 502: Receive a signaling message broadcast by the base station. The signaling message includes at least PRACH resource parameters for indicating the RO resources associated with each SSB beam, wherein the number of RO resources associated with the first SSB beam and the second SSB beam is different.

[0158] In specific implementation, the information message can be an SIB1 message, and the signaling message can also include information such as the number of SSB beams and the SSB period. The specific content of the signaling message in this embodiment is not limited.

[0159] In some implementations, the terminal can also determine the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam based on the PRACH resource parameters and the target SSB beam. The target SSB beam is the SSB beam whose signal meets preset conditions among the received SSB beams, such as the SSB beam with the best RSRP or SNR, and initiate a random access procedure using the target RO resource.

[0160] In specific implementations, the PRACH resource parameters included in the signaling message are different, and the way the terminal side determines the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam based on the PRACH resource parameters and the target SSB beam is also different. Accordingly, it can be divided into three implementation methods.

[0161] Implementation method one: PRACH resource parameters include: first resource association parameters and / or second resource association parameters.

[0162] In this embodiment, the first resource association parameter is configured for SSB beams with a load greater than a preset load threshold, the second resource association parameter is configured for SSB beams with a load less than or equal to the preset load threshold, and the number of RO resources associated with the first resource association parameter is greater than the number of RO resources associated with the second resource association parameter.

[0163] In practice, depending on the method of SSB beams whose load exceeds the preset load threshold included in the signaling message, there are at least three possible scenarios:

[0164] Case 1: The signaling message also includes the identifier of the SSB beam whose load exceeds the preset load threshold.

[0165] In this case, if the load of the target SSB beam is determined to be greater than a preset load threshold based on the SSB beam identifier contained in the signaling message, then the target RO resources associated with the target SSB beam are determined according to the first resource association parameter, such as determining the PRACH preamble sequence that each SSB can use; if the load of the target SSB beam is determined to be less than or equal to the preset load threshold based on the SSB beam identifier contained in the signaling message, then the target RO resources associated with the target SSB beam are determined according to the second resource association parameter, such as determining the PRACH preamble sequence that each SSB can use.

[0166] It should be noted that, for cases where the PRACH resource parameters include the first resource association parameter or the second resource association parameter, some SSB beams may use other methods to determine the associated RO resources, and this application embodiment does not limit this.

[0167] For example, if the PRACH resource parameters include a first resource association parameter, then based on the SSB beam identifier contained in the signaling message, if it is determined that the load of the target SSB beam is greater than a preset load threshold, then the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined according to the first resource association parameter. If, based on the SSB beam identifier contained in the signaling message, it is determined that the load of the target SSB beam is less than or equal to the preset load threshold, other methods can be used to determine the associated RO resource. This application embodiment does not limit this.

[0168] Case 2: The signaling message also includes a beam identifier set, which includes the identifiers of SSB beams whose load exceeds a preset load threshold.

[0169] In this case, if it is determined that the identifier of the target SSB beam belongs to the beam identifier set, then the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined according to the first resource association parameter; if it is determined that the identifier of the target SSB beam does not belong to the beam identifier set, then the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined according to the second resource association parameter.

[0170] It should be noted that, for cases where the PRACH resource parameters include the first resource association parameter or the second resource association parameter, some SSB beams may use other methods to determine the associated RO resources, and this application embodiment does not limit this.

[0171] Case 3: The signaling message also includes the index number of the SSB beam whose load exceeds the preset load threshold.

[0172] In this case, if the load of the target SSB beam is determined to be greater than the preset load threshold based on the index number and the target SSB beam number contained in the signaling message, then the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined according to the first resource association parameter; if the load of the target SSB beam is determined to be less than or equal to the preset load threshold based on the index number and the target SSB beam number contained in the signaling message, then the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined according to the second resource association parameter.

[0173] It should be noted that, for cases where the PRACH resource parameters include the first resource association parameter or the second resource association parameter, some SSB beams may use other methods to determine the associated RO resources, and this application embodiment does not limit this.

[0174] Implementation Method 2: PRACH resource parameters include: SSB beam grouping and the number of RO resources associated with each SSB beam group.

[0175] In this implementation, when determining the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam based on the PRACH resource parameters and the target SSB beam, the target group to which the target SSB beam belongs is first determined, and then the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined based on the number of RO resources associated with the target group.

[0176] In implementation method three, the PRACH resource parameters include: at least two periods of PRACH resources.

[0177] In this implementation, when determining the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam based on the PRACH resource parameters and the target SSB beam, the RO resources of at least two periods of PRACH resources are first superimposed within the SSB period. Then, based on the RO resources of each period after superposition, the target RO resource associated with the target SSB beam is determined.

[0178] The following section, with reference to Figure 6 and the interaction process between the base station and the terminal, details the specific implementation flow of the resource configuration method provided in this application embodiment.

[0182] 2. The terminal receives the SIB1 message sent by the base station, wherein the SIB1 message includes at least the PRACH resource configuration parameters.
