[0001] This application claims priority to Chinese Patent Application No. 202510494614.8, filed on April 18, 2025, entitled "Communication Method, Apparatus, Computer-Readable Storage Medium and Program Product", the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0002] This disclosure generally relates to the field of communications, and more specifically to a communication method, apparatus, computer-readable storage medium, and computer program product. Background Technology
[0003] With the development of wireless communication technology, the continuous expansion of system bandwidth, the increase in terminal antennas, and the heavier network load have exacerbated the contradiction between the surge in wireless channel dimensions and the limited pilot measurement resources, leading to significant challenges in high-precision wireless channel measurement. Accurate measurement of wireless channels is a fundamental prerequisite for reliable communication and plays a crucial role in the architecture design, performance analysis, and system optimization of mobile communication networks. However, current channel measurement methods are insufficient to meet the demands of emerging communication technologies (such as ultra-wideband and ultra-large-scale antennas), and further optimization and improvement are needed. Summary of the Invention
[0004] Embodiments of this disclosure provide a communication method, apparatus, system, computer-readable storage medium, and computer program product. Based on channel feature comparison, a collaborative mechanism of selective feedback and differential reporting is introduced to achieve multi-dimensional resource overhead reduction: In terms of pilot transmission, beam filtering effectively reduces pilot transmission in redundant beam directions, thereby reducing pilot overhead; in terms of feedback reporting, a simplified 1-bit indication mode is used to handle unnecessary feedback scenarios, and differential technology is used for reporting for spectrum updates, reducing feedback overhead and thus improving the resource utilization efficiency of the wireless communication system.
[0005] Firstly, a communication method is provided. The method provided in the first aspect can be executed by a terminal device, and the entity interacting with the terminal device can be a RAN node. Unless otherwise specified, the terminal device or RAN node in this disclosure can refer to the terminal device or RAN node itself, or to components within the terminal device or RAN node (e.g., processors, chips, or chip systems), or to logic modules or software capable of implementing all or part of the functions of the terminal device or RAN node. Here, we take the case where the execution entity of the method is the terminal device itself as an example. In some implementations, the terminal device can receive first channel feature information from the RAN node. The first channel feature information can be the frequency domain channel feature information of the spectrum at the grid where the terminal device is located, or alternatively, it can be the frequency domain channel feature information of a virtual spectrum associated with the terminal device. For example, the first channel feature information can be a first power delay profile (PDP). Furthermore, the terminal device can also receive a reference signal from the RAN node with a first reference signal period, which can be used, for example, for spectrum construction and / or updating. In some implementations, the reference signal may be a beamformed (or weighted) channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), a beamformed tracking reference signal (TRS), or any other suitable reference signal. Using the received reference signal, the terminal device can determine second channel characteristic information. In some implementations, the second channel characteristic information may be a second PDP, which may be determined, for example, based on a single measurement or as a statistical average of measurements taken at multiple times.
[0006] Subsequently, the terminal device can calculate the correlation coefficient between the first channel characteristic information and the second channel characteristic information. In some implementations, if the correlation coefficient between the first and second channel characteristic information is higher than a first threshold, the terminal device can send a first measurement report at a first reporting cycle. For example, the first measurement report may include a first indication indicating not to report the second channel characteristic information. For example, the first measurement report may be sent to the RAN node via uplink control information (UCI), and the first indication may be a 1-bit indication included in the UCI. Alternatively, the terminal device may also use other request messages to request the RAN node not to report the second channel characteristic information. In this way, in scenarios where the channel characteristics remain relatively stable, such as by implementing "not reporting" feedback with simplified 1-bit information, the feedback overhead can be effectively reduced.
[0007] In some implementations, the terminal device may also receive a second indication from the RAN node. For example, the second indication may be used to instruct the terminal device not to send a second measurement report related to the second channel characteristic information. Alternatively, the second indication may be used to instruct the terminal device to send the second measurement report at a second reporting period. In some implementations, the second measurement report may include a second bitmap of the second channel characteristic information, used to indicate the delay (or delay position) in the second channel characteristic information. Optionally, the second measurement report may also include differential information of the second channel characteristic information relative to the first channel characteristic information. In these implementations, the second reporting period may be longer than the first reporting period. In this way, in scenarios where the channel characteristics remain relatively stable in a specific beam direction, the terminal device can correspondingly reduce the frequency of reporting spectrum information, thereby effectively reducing resource overhead in the feedback process.
[0008] In some implementations, if the calculated correlation coefficient is below a first threshold, the terminal device may send a second measurement report to the RAN node. In these implementations, the terminal device can determine the reporting method by comparing the bit values at the same position in the bitmaps of the second channel feature information and the first channel feature information. For example, if the bit value at the first position in the second bitmap is 1, and the bit value at the first position in the first bitmap of the first channel feature information (used to indicate the delay (or delay position) in the first channel feature information) is 0, the second measurement report may include the power quantization value corresponding to the first position. This reporting method may be referred to as full reporting, for example. Alternatively, if the bit value at the first position in the second bitmap is 1, and the bit value at the first position in the first bitmap of the first channel feature information is 1, the second measurement report may include a first bit, which may be used to indicate whether the second measurement report includes the power differential value corresponding to the first position. For example, when the first bit is 1, it means that the difference between the power quantization value corresponding to the first position in the second bitmap and the power quantization value corresponding to the first position in the first bitmap is greater than a second threshold. In this case, the second measurement report includes the power difference value corresponding to the first position. Conversely, when the first bit is 0, it means that the difference between the power quantization value corresponding to the first position in the second bitmap and the power quantization value corresponding to the first position in the first bitmap is less than the second threshold. In this case, the second measurement report does not include the power difference value corresponding to the first position. This reporting method can be called differential reporting, for example. In this way, when a change in channel state necessitates updating the spectrum information, the terminal device only needs to report the difference in channel feature information in a differential or full reporting manner, rather than the complete channel feature information. This reduces the consumption of transmission resources and the computational complexity of base station data processing.
[0009] Secondly, a communication method is provided. The method provided in this second aspect can be executed by a RAN node, and the entity interacting with the RAN node can be a terminal device. Here, we take the case where the RAN node itself is the executing entity of the method as an example. In some implementations, the RAN node can send first channel feature information to the terminal device. The first channel feature information can be the frequency domain channel feature information of the spectrum at the grid where the terminal device is located, or alternatively, it can be the frequency domain channel feature information of a virtual spectrum associated with the terminal device. For example, the first channel feature information can be a first PDP. Furthermore, the RAN node can also send a reference signal to the terminal device at a first reference signal period, which can be used, for example, for spectrum construction and / or updating. In some implementations, the reference signal may be a beamformed (or what may be called a “weighted”) CSI-RS, or a beamformed TRS, or any other suitable reference signal.
[0010] In some implementations, the RAN node may receive a first measurement report from the terminal device at a first reporting period. For example, the first measurement report may include a first indication indicating that second channel characteristic information should not be reported. For example, the second channel characteristic information may be determined based on the aforementioned reference signal. In some implementations, the second channel characteristic information may be a second PDP. In some implementations, the first measurement report may be sent to the RAN node via a UCI, and the first indication may be a 1-bit indication included in the UCI. Alternatively, the RAN node may also receive other request messages for requesting that the second channel characteristic information not be reported.
[0011] Furthermore, in some implementations, the RAN node can also send a second indication to the terminal devices. Specifically, in some example scenarios of these implementations, the RAN node can receive first measurement reports from Y terminal devices, which may include beam identifiers of a first beam. Additionally, W of the Y first measurement reports may also include the aforementioned first indication, where Y and W are positive integers, and W is less than or equal to Y. In this scenario, if the ratio of W to Y is greater than a second threshold (e.g., the second threshold may be preset to 90%), the RAN node can send a second indication to the aforementioned Y terminal devices. For example, the second indication may be used to instruct the terminal devices not to send a second measurement report related to the second channel feature information. Alternatively, the second indication may be used to instruct the terminal devices to send the second measurement report at a second reporting period greater than the first reporting period. In some implementations, the second measurement report may include a second bitmap of the second channel feature information to indicate the delay (or delay position) in the second channel feature information. Optionally, the second measurement report may also include differential information of the second channel feature information relative to the first channel feature information. In this way, in scenarios where the channel characteristics remain relatively stable in a specific beam direction, the RAN node can reduce the frequency of receiving spectrum information and reduce resource overhead during the feedback process.
[0012] Furthermore, in some implementations, if the ratio of W to Y is greater than the second threshold, the RAN node may stop sending the reference signal to the terminal device. Instead, the RAN node may send the reference signal to the terminal device with a second reference signal period. In this implementation, the second reference signal period is longer than the first reference signal period. In this way, in scenarios where the channel characteristics remain relatively stable in a specific beam direction, the RAN node can correspondingly reduce the frequency of pilot signal transmission, thereby reducing pilot resource overhead.
[0013] In some implementations, if the calculated correlation coefficient is below a first threshold, the RAN node can receive a second measurement report from the terminal device. A description of the second measurement report can be found in the relevant description in the first aspect, and will not be repeated here. Subsequently, the RAN node can update the first channel characteristic information based on the second measurement report. In this way, when changes in channel state necessitate updating the spectrum information, the RAN node only needs to receive the difference portion of the channel characteristic information reported in a differential or full manner, rather than the complete channel characteristic information, thereby reducing the consumption of transmission resources and the computational complexity of data processing.
[0014] In a third aspect, a communication device is provided. This communication device has the functionality to implement the behaviors described in the method examples of the first or second aspects. In one possible design, the communication device includes a unit that executes the methods of the first or second aspects, or their implementations. The beneficial effects of implementing the communication device of the third aspect can be found in the descriptions of the first or second aspects, and will not be repeated here.

[0025] Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of the architecture of a communication system 1000 provided in an embodiment of this disclosure. As shown in Figure 1, the communication system 1000 includes a Radio Access Network (RAN) 100, wherein the RAN 100 includes at least one terminal device (terminal devices 110a to 110j in Figure 1, collectively referred to as terminal device 110); and at least one RAN node (RAN nodes 120a and 120b in Figure 1, collectively referred to as RAN node 120). The RAN 100 may also include other RAN nodes, such as wireless relay devices and / or wireless backhaul devices (not shown in Figure 1). The terminal device 110 is wirelessly connected to the RAN node 120. Terminal devices and RAN nodes can be interconnected via wired or wireless means. The communication system 1000 may also include a core network 200. The RAN node 120 is connected to the core network 200 via wireless or wired means. The core network equipment in core network 200 and the RAN node 120 in RAN 100 can be independent and different physical devices, or they can be the same physical device that integrates the logical functions of the core network equipment and the logical functions of the RAN node. Communication system 1000 may also include Internet 300.
[0026] RAN 100 can be an evolved universal terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) system, a new radio (NR) system, or a future radio access system as defined in the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP). RAN 100 can also include two or more of the above-mentioned different radio access systems. RAN 100 can also be an open RAN (O-RAN).
[0027] RAN nodes, also known as radio access network equipment (or simply network equipment), RAN entities, or access nodes, are used to help terminals access communication systems wirelessly. In one application scenario, an RAN node can be a base station, an evolved NodeB (eNodeB), a transmission reception point (TRP), a next-generation NodeB (gNB) in a 5G mobile communication system, a next-generation base station in a future mobile communication system, or a base station in a future mobile communication system. RAN nodes can be macro base stations (as shown in Figure 1, 120a), micro base stations or indoor stations (as shown in Figure 1, 120b), and can also be relay nodes or donor nodes.
[0028] In another application scenario, multiple RAN nodes can collaborate to help terminals achieve wireless access, with different RAN nodes implementing different functions of the base station. For example, a RAN node can be a central unit (CU), a distributed unit (DU), or a radio unit (RU). Here, the CU performs the functions of the base station's Radio Resource Control (RRC) and Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP), and can also perform the functions of the Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP). The DU performs the functions of the base station's Radio Link Control (RANC) and Medium Access Control (MAC) layers, and can also perform some or all of the physical layer functions. For specific descriptions of these protocol layers, refer to the relevant 3GPP technical specifications. The RU can be used to implement radio frequency signal transmission and reception. The CU and DU can be two independent RAN nodes or integrated into the same RAN node, such as within a baseband unit (BBU). The RU can be included in radio frequency equipment, such as in a remote radio unit (RRU) or an active antenna unit (AAU). The CU can be further divided into two types of RAN nodes: CU-control plane and CU-user plane.
[0029] In different systems, RAN nodes may have different names. For example, in an O-RAN system, a CU can be called an open CU (O-CU), a DU can be called an open DU (O-DU), and an RU can be called an open RU (O-RU). The RAN nodes in the embodiments of this application can be implemented through software modules, hardware modules, or a combination of software and hardware modules. For example, a RAN node can be a server loaded with the corresponding software modules. The embodiments of this application do not limit the specific technology or device form used in the RAN nodes. For ease of description, a base station is used as an example of a RAN node in the following description.
[0030] A terminal is a device with wireless transceiver capabilities, capable of sending signals to or receiving signals from a base station. Terminals can also be called terminal equipment, user equipment (UE), mobile station, mobile terminal, etc. Terminals can be widely used in various scenarios, such as device-to-device (D2D), vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, machine-type communication (MTC), Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality, augmented reality, industrial control, autonomous driving, telemedicine, smart grids, smart furniture, smart offices, smart wearables, smart transportation, smart cities, etc. Terminals can be mobile phones, tablets, computers with wireless transceiver capabilities, wearable devices, vehicles, airplanes, ships, robots, robotic arms, smart home devices, etc. The embodiments of this application do not limit the specific technology or device form used in the terminal.
[0031] Base stations and terminals can be fixed or mobile. They can be deployed on land, including indoors or outdoors, handheld or vehicle-mounted; they can also be deployed on water; and they can be deployed on aircraft, balloons, and satellites. The embodiments of this application do not limit the application scenarios of the base stations and terminals.
[0032] The roles of base stations and terminals can be relative. For example, the helicopter or drone 110i in Figure 1 can be configured as a mobile base station. For terminals 110j that access the wireless access network 100 through 110i, terminal 110i is a base station; however, for base station 120a, 110i is a terminal, meaning that 120a and 110i communicate via a wireless air interface protocol. Of course, 120a and 110i can also communicate via a base station-to-base station interface protocol. In this case, relative to 120a, 110i is also a base station. Therefore, both base stations and terminals can be collectively referred to as communication devices. 120a and 120b in Figure 1 can be called communication devices with base station functions, and 110a-110j in Figure 1 can be called communication devices with terminal functions.
[0033] Communication between base stations and terminals, between base stations, and between terminals can be conducted using licensed spectrum, unlicensed spectrum, or both simultaneously. Communication can be conducted using spectrum below 6 GHz, spectrum above 6 GHz, or both simultaneously. The embodiments of this application do not limit the spectrum resources used for wireless communication.
[0034] In the embodiments of this application, the functions of the base station can be executed by modules (such as chips) within the base station, or by a control subsystem that includes base station functions. This control subsystem, including base station functions, can be a control center in the aforementioned application scenarios such as smart grids, industrial control, intelligent transportation, and smart cities. Similarly, the functions of the terminal can be executed by modules (such as chips or modems) within the terminal, or by a device that includes terminal functions.
[0035] In this application, the base station sends downlink signals or downlink information to the terminal, with the downlink information carried on the downlink channel; the terminal sends uplink signals or uplink information to the base station, with the uplink information carried on the uplink channel. To communicate with the base station, the terminal needs to establish a radio connection on a cell controlled by the base station. The cell with which the terminal has established a radio connection is called the terminal's serving cell. When the terminal communicates with this serving cell, it is also susceptible to interference from signals from neighboring cells.
[0036] Depending on whether it is used in the specification: In the embodiments of this application, the time-domain symbol can be an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol or a discrete fourier transform-spread-OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) symbol. Unless otherwise specified, the symbols in the embodiments of this application all refer to time-domain symbols.
[0037] Depending on whether the specification uses optional terms: It is understood that in the embodiments of this application, the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), and physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) are only examples of downlink data channels, downlink control channels, and uplink data channels, respectively. In different systems and different scenarios, data channels and control channels may have different names, and the embodiments of this application do not limit this.
[0038] Fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication systems offer extremely high spectral efficiency, extremely low communication latency, extremely high connection density, and extremely low power consumption, while also placing higher demands on system capacity and spectral efficiency. As the technology that unlocks the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G communication urgently needs to improve the depth of information interaction to meet the demands of future deep wireless communication networks. 5G Advanced further enhances information interaction capabilities, meeting the needs of deeper mobile internet, thereby continuously expanding the depth and breadth of information interaction, ultimately achieving true IoT. Based on this, future communication networks will significantly expand the breadth and depth of communication coverage, deeply integrating traditional cellular communication with deep-sea ocean communication, aviation communication, and satellite communication.
[0039] Fifth-generation mobile communication systems (5G) support extremely high spectral efficiency, extremely low communication latency, extremely high connection density, and extremely low power consumption, while placing more stringent requirements on system capacity and spectral efficiency. 5G Advanced wireless communication technology further enhances information exchange capabilities to meet the development needs of future deep wireless communication networks. Based on this, future communication networks are expected to significantly expand the breadth and depth of communication coverage, for example, achieving deep integration with deep-sea ocean communication, aviation communication, and satellite communication, thereby constructing a more extensive communication network system.
[0040] In the development of mobile communication technology, digital twin technology plays a crucial role. It is a key technology that can accurately depict, simulate, optimize, and visualize the physical world in a virtual world. Specifically, the physical world provides rich sensory data, providing data support for the construction of the virtual world; while the virtual world, based on simulation data, provides guidance for the system design and algorithm optimization of the physical world. This two-way interactive mechanism provides a new paradigm for communication system optimization.
[0041] Physical channels are the foundation for building digital twin systems, and accurate perception and understanding of physical channels are prerequisites for establishing digital twin channels. In the process of physical channel modeling, the environmental electronic map, as a core entity, needs to integrate multi-dimensional spatial information, including terrain elevation data, building distribution, water system distribution characteristics, vegetation cover, and electromagnetic property parameters of various materials. This basic data constitutes the physical foundation of digital twin channel modeling. The digital twin channel model describes the interaction and coupling relationships of physical entities, thereby analyzing and predicting changes in the wireless propagation channel. As a complete mapping of physical channels in digital space, virtual channels possess characteristics such as realism, objectivity, and completeness. Their modeling framework can include four key dimensions: geometric modeling, which uses high-precision 3D modeling technology to recreate the spatial geometric features of various physical entities (such as terrain undulations, building complexes, vegetation, etc.), including size parameters, spatial location, and orientation, ensuring strict spatiotemporal consistency between the digital model and the physical environment; physical modeling, which, based on geometric modeling, describes the physical properties and characteristics of the physical channel, using digital simulation tools to simulate and analyze the structure and electromagnetic fields in the wireless channel, achieving dynamic approximate simulation of the channel; behavioral modeling, which focuses on characterizing the dynamic laws governing the changes in channel characteristics over time and space. This involves establishing multi-scale analysis models to describe the changing characteristics of channel parameters at different spatiotemporal granularities; and rule-based modeling, which, by establishing mechanistic models and constraints of channel evolution, reveals the inherent laws governing changes in channel characteristics, providing a theoretical basis for channel prediction.
[0042] In real-world communication scenarios, the application of digital twin channel technology offers numerous advantages. For instance, it helps to more comprehensively and efficiently control the entire lifecycle of communication transmission, and facilitates the timely and accurate feedback of actual communication performance to the design team. Furthermore, the application of digital twin channel technology can reduce resource overhead and transmission latency in the end-to-end feedback process.
[0043] With the development of wireless communication technology, the continuous expansion of system bandwidth, the increase in terminal antennas, and the heavier network load have exacerbated the contradiction between the surge in wireless channel dimensions and the limited pilot measurement resources, leading to significant challenges in high-precision wireless channel measurement. Accurate measurement of wireless channels is a fundamental prerequisite for reliable communication and plays a crucial role in the architecture design, performance analysis, and system optimization of mobile communication networks. However, current channel measurement methods based on fixed pilot symbols are insufficient to meet the demands of emerging communication technologies (such as ultra-wideband and ultra-large-scale antennas) and require further optimization and improvement.
[0044] To alleviate the problem of limited pilot measurement resources in wireless communication systems, channel mapping technology can be used to achieve low pilot overhead channel measurements. Specifically, on the one hand, channel mapping can provide a set of candidate beams at specific locations, thereby significantly reducing the overhead required for beam scanning during actual communication; on the other hand, channel mapping can also provide the channel covariance matrix at specific locations. Utilizing this prior channel covariance matrix information helps to reduce the overhead of the sounding reference signal (SRS) pilot.
[0045] A channel map is essentially a channel feature database used to store location-based channel characteristics. From a technical implementation perspective, physical cells are first divided into a two-dimensional grid (e.g., the spacing between adjacent grid points can range from a few meters to several kilometers), with each grid cell serving as an independent data node. These nodes can store various types of channel features, such as, but not limited to, the channel statistical covariance matrix, angular power spectrum (including azimuth and elevation information), delay power spectrum, and path loss, among other key channel features. Channel feature information can be stored in various forms, including matrices, vectors, or scalars. This structured data organization supports rapid querying, retrieval, and prediction, facilitating important functions such as beam management and resource allocation.
[0046] Currently, in wireless communication, accurate detection and dynamic maintenance of channel spectra can be achieved by employing a terminal-assisted spectrum reconstruction-periodic triggering mechanism. Specifically, this mechanism may include the following implementation steps:
[0047] First, at the base station (e.g., gNb), the system periodically selects a small number of high-quality user equipment with high signal-to-noise ratio (SINR) from multiple terminal devices (e.g., UEs), and periodically sends channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) to these users and obtains feedback information, thereby performing real-time monitoring and dynamic evaluation of channel spectrum performance.
[0048] Secondly, upon receiving the CSI-RS, the terminal device will perform two operations: First, based on the channel map information (e.g., power delay spectrum (PDP) or basis information) sent by the base station, the terminal device can reconstruct the channel (denoted as H1) by calculating reconstruction coefficients. Second, using its own measured channel data, the terminal device can calculate the basis and coefficients to reconstruct the channel (denoted as H2). Subsequently, the terminal device can report the correlation coefficient between H1 and H2 to the base station as feedback. If the correlation coefficient is lower than a preset threshold, it indicates that the current channel map may be invalid or inaccurate. Based on this feedback information, the base station can decide whether to initiate the channel map reconstruction process to restore or improve the accuracy of the channel map.
[0049] This mechanism enables real-time monitoring and dynamic adjustment of channel spectrum accuracy, contributing to system performance stability and reliability, and reducing signaling overhead to some extent. However, this mechanism requires continuous pilot signal transmission because the base station needs to periodically send CSI-RS to trigger channel reconstruction and correlation feedback at the terminal, resulting in excessive resource consumption, increased pilot overhead, and reduced spectrum utilization efficiency. Furthermore, the frequent channel reconstruction calculations and correlation analyses performed by the terminal increase computational complexity and may also affect the processing capacity of other tasks due to resource contention.
[0050] Based on the foregoing analysis and discussion, embodiments of this disclosure propose a method for communication, such as a method for updating spectrum information. In some embodiments, based on channel feature comparison, a collaborative mechanism of selective feedback and differential reporting is introduced to achieve multi-dimensional reduction of resource overhead: in terms of pilot transmission, beam filtering effectively reduces pilot transmission in redundant beam directions, thereby reducing pilot overhead; in terms of feedback reporting, a simplified 1-bit indication mode is used to handle unnecessary feedback scenarios, and differential technology is used for reporting for spectrum updating, reducing feedback overhead and thus improving the resource utilization efficiency of the wireless communication system.
[0051] Figure 2 illustrates a communication flow diagram of some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in Figure 2, flow 200 may involve the terminal device 110 shown in Figure 1 and the RAN node 120. In some examples, the terminal device 110 executing flow 200 may be a chip or module of the terminal device 110, and the RAN node 120 executing flow 200 may be a chip or module of the RAN node 120.
[0052] 212: RAN node 120 sends first channel feature information to terminal device 110. Correspondingly, terminal device 110 receives the first channel feature information from RAN node 120. The first channel feature information may be the frequency domain channel feature information of the spectrum at the grid where terminal device 110 is located, or alternatively, it may be the frequency domain channel feature information of the virtual spectrum associated with terminal device 110. For example, RAN node 120 may send the power delay spectrum (PDP) information of the grid / virtual class where terminal device 110 is located (i.e., the first PDP mentioned above) to terminal device 110 via PDSCH, denoted as p1, to represent the typical power delay distribution of the grid / virtual spectrum where the user is located, stored or calculated at RAN node 301, wherein, Represent real numbers The column vector has a dimension of N×1, meaning it contains N delay tap coefficients. Alternatively, in some other embodiments, the RAN node 120 may also send frequency domain basis feature information or other suitable channel feature information to the terminal device 110, which is not limited here.
[0053] 214: RAN node 120 transmits a reference signal to terminal device 110 at a first reference signal period. For example, RAN node 120 can transmit a reference signal for map construction and / or updating to terminal device 110 at a first reference signal period via PDSCH. Correspondingly, terminal device 110 receives the reference signal from RAN node 120 at a first reference signal period. In some implementations, to support accurate measurement of Channel State Information (CSI), RAN node 120 can configure a beamformed (or "weighted") CSI-RS pilot and specify resource allocation parameters, such as the reference signal period (e.g., 5 ms), subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz or 30 kHz), etc., via RRC signaling. This weighted pilot can optimize coverage and improve the accuracy of channel estimation. Alternatively, in other implementations, the reference signal can also be a beamformed TRS, or any other suitable reference signal.
[0054] In some embodiments, based on the received reference signal, the terminal device 110 can perform channel estimation to obtain a frequency domain channel matrix. Then, an inverse fast fourier transform (IFFT) is performed on H to obtain the time-delay domain channel matrix. Where, N port This represents the number of antenna ports, and N represents the number of IFFT points (consistent with the number of delay tap coefficients), and N fThis represents the number of frequency domain subcarriers. Subsequently, terminal device 110 can determine the second channel characteristic information. In some implementations, the second channel characteristic information can be the second PDP. For example, terminal device 110 can utilize the time-delay domain channel matrix H obtained above. delay To calculate the statistical average PDP, denoted as p2, where, This can be represented as p2 = [p1, ..., p n The statistical average p² can be calculated, for example, according to the following formula or any suitable variation thereof:
[0055] Among them, H delay (i,j) is matrix H delay The element in the i-th row and j-th column of the matrix. Then, terminal device 110 can calculate the correlation coefficient between p1 and p2 according to the following formula or any suitable variation thereof:
[0056] Among them, p2 H p1*p2 represents the conjugate transpose of vector p2. H The dot product of vectors p1 and p2 is calculated using the following formula:
[0057] In the denominator, ||p1|| and ||p2|| represent the L2 norm (i.e., Euclidean length) of vectors p1 and p2, respectively, and are calculated using the following formula:
[0058] The correlation coefficient corr(p1,p2) can range from (0,1). Depending on the value of the correlation coefficient, embodiments of this disclosure can have two options. For example, if the value of corr(p1,p2) is higher than a predetermined threshold (e.g., 0.9), it indicates that the current channel's PDP is highly matched with the reference PDP, and the terminal device 110 does not need to report spectrum information, only needing to feed back a 1-bit indication; conversely, if corr(p1,p2) is lower than the predetermined threshold, it indicates that the current channel's PDP is not completely matched with the reference PDP, thus triggering the channel information reporting process.
[0059] 216: In the first option, if the correlation coefficient (e.g., corr(p1,p2) above) between the first channel feature information and the second channel feature information is higher than a first threshold, the terminal device 110 sends a first measurement report to the RAN node 120 at a first reporting period. Correspondingly, the RAN node 120 receives the first measurement report from the terminal device 110 at a first reporting period. For example, the first measurement report may include a first indication indicating that the second channel feature information (e.g., p2 above) should not be reported. For example, the first measurement report may be sent to the RAN node via uplink control information (UCI), and the first indication may be a 1-bit indication included in the UCI. Alternatively, the terminal device may also use other request messages to request the RAN node not to report the second channel feature information. In this way, in scenarios where the channel features remain relatively stable, the "not reporting" feedback can be implemented, for example, with simplified 1-bit information, effectively reducing feedback overhead.
[0060] 218: RAN node 120 may send a second indication to terminal device 110. Correspondingly, terminal device 110 receives the second indication from RAN node 120. Specifically, in some embodiments, RAN node 120 may receive first measurement reports from Y terminal devices, the Y first measurement reports including the beam identifier of a first beam. Furthermore, W of the Y first measurement reports may also include the aforementioned first indication, where Y and W are positive integers, and W is less than or equal to Y. In this scenario, if the ratio of W to Y is greater than a second threshold (e.g., the second threshold may be preset to 90%), RAN node 120 may consider that the spectrum information in the first beam direction does not need to be updated in the short term, and therefore sends the second indication to the aforementioned Y terminal devices. For example, the second indication may be used to instruct the terminal devices not to send a second measurement report related to the second channel characteristic information. Alternatively, the second indication may be used to instruct the terminal devices to send the second measurement report at a second reporting period greater than the first reporting period. In some implementations, the second measurement report may include a second bitmap of the second channel feature information to indicate the delay (or delay location) in the second channel feature information. Optionally, the second measurement report may also include differential information of the second channel feature information relative to the first channel feature information.
[0061] Furthermore, in some implementations, if the ratio of W to Y is greater than the second threshold, RAN node 120 may cease transmitting reference signals to these terminal devices. Alternatively, RAN node 120 may lengthen the period for transmitting the reference signal. For example, RAN node 120 may transmit the reference signal to the terminal device with a second reference signal period that is longer than the period of the first reference signal.
[0062] For clarity, the first option will be further described below with examples:
[0063] Suppose there are 100 UEs within the coverage area of a certain beam, and 95 of them send a 1-bit indication to the base station requesting not to report spectrum information. The high correlation ratio is 95%, which is greater than a predetermined threshold (e.g., 90%). At this point, it can be determined that the channel state in the beam direction is stable. Therefore, the base station can choose to completely stop the CSI-RS transmission in the beam direction (or alternatively, stop the CSI-RS transmission in the beam direction for a longer period of time), or switch the measurement period from a short period to a long period to reduce the update feedback overhead or measurement overhead.
[0064] Specifically, in some embodiments, to achieve flexible switching of the reference signal period, the network can pre-configure two sets of CSI-RS resources. For example, a first CSI-RS resource with a short period (e.g., 5ms) can be used for scenarios with rapid channel changes, while a second CSI-RS resource with a long period (e.g., 20ms) can be used for stable state monitoring. When the ratio of highly correlated UEs in a certain beam direction to the total number of UEs in that direction exceeds a threshold ratio, the network can quickly switch from the short-period first CSI-RS resource to the long-period second CSI-RS resource, for example, by adding a 1-bit indication field in the downlink control information (DCI). Furthermore, in some other embodiments, this dynamic adjustment can also be achieved through RRC reconfiguration signaling. In this way, in scenarios where the channel characteristics remain relatively stable in a specific beam direction, the base station can correspondingly reduce the transmission frequency of the reference signal, thereby reducing pilot resource overhead.
[0065] Furthermore, in some embodiments, in addition to adjusting its own reference signal transmission period, the RAN node 120 can also instruct the terminal device to adjust its reporting period. Specifically, when the proportion of UEs with high correlation feedback in a certain beam direction exceeds a threshold, the base station can send an instruction to these UEs (e.g., the second instruction mentioned above). This instruction can be used to instruct these UEs not to send measurement reports (or, alternatively, to stop sending measurement reports for a longer period of time), or alternatively, to instruct these UEs to send measurement reports with a longer reporting period (e.g., 25ms) than the original reporting period (e.g., 5ms). In this way, in scenarios where the channel characteristics in a specific beam direction remain relatively stable, the UE can correspondingly reduce the frequency of measurement report reporting, thereby effectively reducing resource overhead in the feedback process.
[0066] It should be noted that in the above embodiments, when the RAN node notifies the terminal device to stop sending measurement reports or switches to sending measurement reports with a long transmission period, the base station is not necessarily limited to correspondingly stopping the transmission of reference signals or transmitting reference signals with a long reference signal period corresponding to the long transmission period. Instead, it can still transmit reference signals with the original reference signal period or any suitable reference signal period, and vice versa. In summary, this disclosure does not impose mandatory limitations on the correlation between the network-side reference signal transmission strategy and the terminal-side measurement report reporting strategy; the two can be independently optimized and configured according to the actual application scenario.
[0067] Alternatively, in the second option, for example, if the calculated correlation coefficient (e.g., corr(p1,p2) above) is lower than the first threshold, the terminal device 110 may send a second measurement report to the RAN node 120. In these implementations, the terminal device 110 can determine the reporting method by comparing the bit values at the same position in the bitmaps of the second channel feature information and the first channel feature information. For example, if the bit value at the first position in the second bitmap is 1, and the bit value at the first position in the first bitmap of the first channel feature information (used to indicate the delay (or delay position) in the first channel feature information) is 0, the second measurement report may include the power quantization value corresponding to the first position (this reporting method may be referred to as full reporting, for example). When the first bit is 0, it means that the difference between the power quantization value corresponding to the first position in the second bitmap and the power quantization value corresponding to the first position in the first bitmap is less than the second threshold. In this case, the second measurement report does not include the power difference value corresponding to the first position (this reporting method can be called differential reporting, for example). Subsequently, RAN node 120 can update the first channel feature information based on this second measurement report. In this way, when a change in channel state requires updating the spectrum information, the RAN node only needs to receive the difference portion of the channel feature information reported in differential or full reporting mode, rather than the complete channel feature information, thereby reducing the occupation of transmission resources and reducing the computational complexity of data processing.
[0068] For clarity, the second option will be further described below with examples:
[0069] For example, when the correlation coefficient corr(p1,p2) is lower than a predetermined threshold, the terminal device 110 can choose to report the calculated power delay spectrum p2 using a differential method. Figure 3 shows a schematic diagram of one method of reporting using a differential method. In Figure 3, p1 represents the PDP information (e.g., the first PDP mentioned above) sent by the RAN node 120 to the terminal device 110, and p2 represents the PDP information (e.g., the second PDP mentioned above) calculated by the terminal device 110 based on the reference signal received from the RAN node 120. p2 contains peaks that are very close to p1 (e.g., marked as i2) and peaks that are not very close to p1 (e.g., marked as i1). The horizontal axis in Figure 3 can represent the delay, and the vertical axis can represent the power quantization value. Peak values in the spectra of p1 and p2 are compared. If the power quantization value at i2 is found to be extremely close or identical in both spectra (e.g., below a predetermined error threshold), then this peak value does not need to be reported again to avoid redundant information transmission. Conversely, if the power quantization value at i1 differs significantly in both spectra (e.g., above a predetermined error threshold), it indicates the presence of a new or changed peak value at i1, and therefore the difference in power quantization values at that location needs to be reported. This differential reporting method, by comparing the peak values of the two delay spectra and only reporting the new or changed peak values and their locations, reduces feedback overhead to a certain extent and is beneficial for optimal resource allocation.
[0070] Furthermore, in some embodiments of this disclosure, a feedback method combining differential reporting and full reporting can be employed to further improve the transmission efficiency of feedback information and reduce feedback overhead. Specifically, it is assumed that the spectrum of the first PDP (e.g., p1 mentioned above) contains two parts: the time delay (or time delay position) on the horizontal axis and the power quantization value on the vertical axis corresponding to the time delay. The time delay can be indicated using a bitmap. Assuming that the bitmap of the first PDP (e.g., the first bitmap mentioned above) contains a total of M possible time delay positions, sorted by power quantization value from largest to smallest, the time delay positions corresponding to the top N power quantization values with the largest power quantization values are selected as significant time delay positions, marked with "1", and their corresponding power values are marked as [p1, p2, ..., p NThe remaining non-significant delay positions are marked with "0". Similarly, for the second PDP obtained by the UE based on CSI-RS, assuming the bitmap of the second PDP (e.g., p2 above) contains a total of M′ possible delay positions, N′ significant delay positions with power quantization values greater than other delay positions (e.g., the largest power quantization value) are selected and marked with "1", and the power quantization values of these significant delay positions are labeled as [p1′, p2′, ..., p...]. N The remaining insignificant time delay locations are marked with "0". For clarity, the feedback reporting process is illustrated here using the case where N′≥N (e.g., N′=20, N=16) as an example. i ′∈[p1′,p2′,…,p 16 ′] at position i′ in the second bitmap and p i ∈[p1,p2,…,p 16 The i-th position in the first bitmap is the same. When p i The bit at position i′ in the second bitmap is 1, and p i When the bit value at position i in the first bit map is 1, terminal device 110 can target p. i The terminal device 110 reports differentially to RAN node 120. Specifically, the measurement report reported by the terminal device 110 to RAN node 120 may include a first bit, which is used to indicate whether the measurement report includes the power differential value Δp corresponding to position i′. i =p i ′-p i For example, when the first bit is 1, it means Δp i If the value is greater than a predetermined threshold (e.g., the second threshold mentioned above), in this case, the measurement report also includes Δp. i The value of Δp; and when the first bit is 0, it means Δp i If the value is less than a predetermined threshold, the measurement report will not include Δp. i The value. This means that terminal device 110 only needs to perform differential reporting on the 16 data points that vary significantly in the original data.
[0071] Furthermore, when p i The bit at position i′ in the second bitmap is 1, and p i The bit at position i in the first bitmap is 1 (e.g., for p). j ′∈[p 17 ′,p 18 ′,…,p 20 When ′]), terminal device 110 can target p jA full report is submitted to RAN node 120. In this case, the measurement report may include the power quantization value p corresponding to position j′. j This means that terminal device 110 only needs to report all four newly added data points.
[0072] Under the aforementioned assumptions, if 20 values were quantized using 4 bits for amplitude and 4 bits for phase, the total number of quantized bits reported would be 20 * 8 bits = 160 bits. In contrast, by adopting the method disclosed herein, which combines differential and full reporting, the number of reported bits will be significantly reduced. Specifically, assuming that among the 16 significant delay positions in the second bitmap, the power quantization values at 10 of these positions are similar to the corresponding power quantization values in the first bitmap (i.e., no differential reporting is required), and the power quantization values at the other 6 significant delay positions are not similar to the corresponding power quantization values in the first bitmap (i.e., differential reporting is required), then the number of bits required for differential reporting is 6 * 8 bits = 48 bits. 16 bits are used to mark whether the 16 significant delay positions use differential reporting (i.e., 1 bit for each significant delay position). Furthermore, for the power quantization values at the 4 newly added delay positions in the second bitmap, full reporting is used, requiring 4 * 8 bits = 32 bits for differential reporting. Therefore, in the above scenario, the total number of bits required for reporting is 16 bits + 48 bits + 32 bits = 96 bits, reducing the feedback overhead by approximately half. As can be seen, in this way, when changes in channel state require updating the spectrum information, the terminal device only needs to report the difference in channel feature information in a differential or full manner, rather than the complete channel feature information. This reduces the occupation of transmission resources and the computational complexity of base station data processing.
