[0197] Figure 2 is a flowchart illustrating a communication method provided in an embodiment of this disclosure. As shown in Figure 2, the method is applied to a first communication device and includes one or more of the following:

[0198] Operation 101: Receive information related to the first energy.

[0199] In one embodiment, the first communication device receives first energy-related information through at least one of the following:

[0200] Edge Application Server Energy Information Response (EAS).

[0201] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the first communication device is deployed in the first network and can provide enabling capabilities for the second communication device deployed in the first network. For example, the first communication device can support application server registration, authentication and authorization of terminals or EECs, and provide the Internet Protocol (IP) address information of the second communication device to terminals or EECs.

[0202] For example, the first communication device is an edge enabling server, that is, the edge enabling server is deployed in the edge data network or the core network to provide enabling capabilities for EAS deployed in the edge data network.

[0203] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the second communication device may be an application deployed in the first network, capable of providing application services to terminal devices. Specifically, it may refer to a server application or a server (e.g., social media software, AR, VR), or an instance deployed and running in the first network. An application may deploy one or more second communication devices in one or more first networks. Second communication devices deployed and running in different first networks can be considered as different second communication devices of the same application. They may share a domain name, use a single IP address, or use different IP addresses.

[0204] For example, the second communication device is an application instance / edge application, that is, an application instance / edge application deployed in an edge data network.

[0205] In addition, application instances / edge applications can also be referred to as edge applications (servers), application instances, edge application instances, multi-access edge computing applications (servers), application instance / edge application functions, etc.

[0206] Generally, a second communication device is registered on a first communication device, or the information of a second communication device is configured on a first communication device through a management system. A first communication device may have one or more second communication devices registered, or its information may be configured.

[0207] The above registration, or information configuration, may involve registering the IP address of the second communication device and / or the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the second communication device to the first communication device.

[0208] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the first energy-related information received by the first communication device is the first energy-related information corresponding to the second communication device associated with the first communication device.

[0209] Here, the second communication device associated with the first communication device refers to the second communication device that the first communication device can control, manage, register or configure, or it can be understood as the second communication device being registered with the first communication device.

[0210] When there is one second communication device associated with the first communication device, the first communication device receives one first energy-related information. When there are multiple second communication devices associated with the first communication device, the first communication device receives multiple first energy-related information, that is, the first communication device receives at least one first energy-related information.

[0211] In one implementation, each first energy-related information corresponds to a second communication device, or each first energy-related information is associated with a second communication device.

[0212] It can also be understood as follows: when there is only one second communication device associated with the first communication device, the first energy-related information received by the first communication device includes the energy-related information of one second communication device; when there are multiple second communication devices associated with the first communication device, the first energy-related information received by the first communication device includes the first energy-related information of multiple second communication devices.

[0213] Here, the first energy-related information is associated with the second communication device;

[0214] Here, information related to first energy includes one or more of the following:

[0215] The first energy-related information includes information configured to describe the energy consumption and / or energy efficiency of the second communication device;

[0216] The first energy-related information includes information configured to describe the energy consumption level and / or energy efficiency level of the second communication device;

[0217] Energy consumption of the second communication equipment;

[0218] Energy efficiency of the second communication equipment;

[0219] The energy consumption level of the second communication equipment;

[0220] The energy efficiency rating of the second communication equipment.

[0221] In one embodiment, the energy efficiency rating can be understood as a classification method for the energy efficiency of communication equipment, servers, or electrical appliances.

[0222] In one embodiment, the energy consumption level can be understood as a classification method for the energy consumption of communication equipment, servers, or electrical appliances.

[0223] In one implementation, the higher the energy consumption level, the lower the energy efficiency level; and the lower the energy consumption level, the higher the energy efficiency.

[0224] In one embodiment, the first energy-related information associated with the second communication device can be understood as follows: the first energy-related information is associated with a second communication device; or, the first energy-related information is the energy-related information of the second communication device; or the first energy-related information describes the energy consumption, and / or energy efficiency, and / or energy consumption level, and / or energy efficiency level of the second communication device.

[0225] In practical applications, before the first communication device receives the first energy-related information, the first communication device needs to send a second request to the second communication device. This second request is configured to request the second communication device to report the first energy-related information.

[0226] In one implementation, the second request includes at least one of the following:

[0227] Edge Application Server Energy Information Request (EAS).

[0228] Based on the above, the second request may include one or more of the following:

[0229] The second request is configured to acquire, and / or receive, and / or request information related to the first energy;

[0230] Terminal identifier;

[0231] The second condition.

[0232] In one implementation, the second request is configured to acquire, and / or receive, and / or request first energy-related information, which can be understood as the second request being configured to request first energy-related information of a specific second communication device.

[0233] The second request can also be configured to subscribe to first energy-related information, and / or to subscribe to first energy-related information associated with the second communication device.

[0234] Here, the second request may be a request to obtain energy-related information of the second communication device, and / or, first energy-related information, and / or, first energy-related information associated with the second communication device, or it may be a request to subscribe to energy-related information of the second communication device, and / or, first energy-related information, and / or, first energy-related information associated with the second communication device.

[0235] If the second request is a subscription request, then the first communication device can obtain the first energy information reported or notified by the second communication device multiple times. If the second request is an obtain request, then the first communication device can obtain the first energy information reported by the second communication device only once.

[0236] Here, the terminal identifier includes one or more of the following: Subscription Permanent Identifier (SUPI); Generic Public Subscription Identifier (GPSI); Edge Enabler Client Identification (EEC ID); Application Client ID (AC ID); and Edge Enabler Server ID (EES ID).

[0237] Here, the second condition includes one or more of the following:

[0238] The second condition is for the second communication device; that is, the second condition is to enable the second communication device to send its own energy information.

[0239] If the second condition is met, the second communication device is triggered to send the first energy-related information.

[0240] Third threshold;

[0241] The fourth threshold.

[0242] That is, the second condition is configured to instruct or notify the second communication device to report the first energy-related information when the second communication device meets the second condition.

[0243] It should be noted that, under the condition of the second condition being met, triggering the second communication device to send the first energy-related information is essentially the second communication device reporting the first energy-related information to the first communication device after determining that its own first energy-related information meets the second condition.

[0244] In one embodiment, the second communication device sends first energy-related information and / or sends first energy-related information associated with the second communication device when a second condition is met.

[0245] In one implementation, the configuration is, understandably, or, replaced by, for.

[0246] In one implementation, the capability information of the second communication device can be understood, or replaced, as the capability of the second communication device.

[0247] The capability information of the second communication device also includes one or more of the following:

[0248] The second communication device supports the use of renewable energy for power supply;

[0249] The second communication device supports the consumption of renewable energy;

[0250] The second communication device is capable of using renewable energy.

[0251] The second condition described above includes one or more of the following:

[0252] At least one of the first energy-related information items is higher than the third threshold;

[0253] At least one of the first energy-related information items is below the fourth threshold.

[0254] In one implementation, the third threshold and / or the fourth threshold may be an energy consumption value, and / or an energy efficiency value, and / or an energy consumption level value, and / or an energy efficiency level value.

[0255] In one implementation, the second condition further includes one or more of the following:

[0256] At least one of the first energy-related information items, including energy-saving status;

[0257] At least one of the first energy-related information includes renewable energy.

[0258] In one implementation, when the first energy-related information includes energy-saving status and / or renewable energy, it is determined that a second condition is met; when the second condition is met, the first energy-related information is sent (to the first communication device).

[0259] Based on the above, information related to first energy also includes at least one of the following:

[0260] Energy saving status related information;

[0261] Information related to renewable energy.

[0262] In one implementation, the second condition may include one or more of the following conditions:

[0263] The energy consumption and / or energy consumption level in the first energy-related information are whether they are higher than the third threshold.

[0264] The energy consumption and / or energy consumption level in the first energy-related information are whether they are below the fourth threshold.

[0265] The energy efficiency and / or energy efficiency level in the first energy-related information is whether it is higher than the third threshold.

[0266] The energy efficiency and / or energy efficiency level in the first energy-related information is whether it is lower than the fourth threshold.

[0267] For example, if at least one of the first energy-related information items of the second communication device—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level—is higher than a third threshold, or if at least one of the first energy-related information items of the second communication device—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level—is lower than a fourth threshold, then the determination of the second communication device satisfies the second condition, triggering its own reporting and the reporting of the first energy-related information. If at least one of the first energy-related information items of the second communication device—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level—is not higher than the third threshold, or if at least one of the first energy-related information items of the second communication device—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level—is not lower than the fourth threshold, then the determination of the second communication device does not satisfy the second condition, and its own reporting is not triggered.

[0268] Of course, meeting the second condition also includes one or more of the following conditions:

[0269] The energy consumption change and / or energy consumption level change in the first energy-related information are whether they exceed the seventh threshold.

[0270] The energy consumption change and / or energy consumption level change in the first energy-related information are whether they are below the eighth threshold.

[0271] Whether the energy efficiency changes and / or energy efficiency level changes in the first energy-related information exceed the seventh threshold;

[0272] The first energy-related information includes changes in energy efficiency and / or changes in energy efficiency levels, and whether these changes fall below the eighth threshold.

[0273] For example, if at least one of the first energy-related information of the second communication device—energy consumption change, energy consumption level change, energy efficiency change, energy efficiency level change—is higher than the seventh threshold, or if at least one of the first energy-related information of the second communication device—energy consumption change, energy consumption level change, energy efficiency change, energy efficiency level change—is lower than the eighth threshold, the determination of the second communication device meets the second condition, triggering self-reporting. Alternatively, if at least one of the first energy-related information of the second communication device—energy consumption change, energy consumption level change, energy efficiency change, energy efficiency level change—is not higher than the seventh threshold, or if at least one of the first energy-related information of the second communication device—energy consumption change, energy consumption level change, energy efficiency change, energy efficiency level change—is not lower than the eighth threshold, the determination of the second communication device does not meet the second condition, and self-reporting is not triggered.

[0274] Based on the above, information related to first energy also includes at least one of the following:

[0275] Energy consumption changes;

[0276] Changes in energy consumption levels;

[0277] Energy efficiency changes;

[0278] Changes in energy efficiency ratings.

[0279] The energy consumption change refers to the difference or change between the current energy consumption of the device and the energy consumption of the device at a previous moment. The previous moment is a moment before the current moment or a moment in the past.

[0280] The energy efficiency change refers to the difference or change between the current energy consumption of the device and the energy consumption of the device at a previous moment. The previous moment is a moment before the current moment or a moment in the past.

[0281] The change in energy consumption level refers to the difference or change between the current energy consumption level of the device and the energy consumption level of the device at a previous moment. The previous moment is a moment before the current moment or a moment in the past.

[0282] The energy efficiency change refers to the difference or change between the current energy consumption of the device and the energy consumption of the device at a previous moment. The previous moment is a moment before the current moment or a moment in the past.

[0283] In one implementation, at least one of the following is included: a third threshold, a fourth threshold, a seventh threshold, and an eighth threshold, which can be a specific numerical value, such as an energy consumption value, an energy efficiency level, etc.

[0284] In some embodiments, if the second communication device determines that the first energy-related information meets the second condition, it triggers a report, and / or if the second communication device determines that the first energy-related information meets the third condition, it triggers a reselection, that is, sends a first request to the first communication device.

[0285] Here, triggering reporting and triggering reselection can be done simultaneously, or reporting can be done first and then reselection.

[0286] In one implementation, if the second communication device determines that the first energy-related information meets a third condition, a reselection is triggered, wherein triggering the reselection includes at least one of the following:

[0287] (The second communication device) sends an EAS discovery request to the first communication device (e.g., EES).

[0288] Here, the third condition includes at least one of the following:

[0289] At least one of the first energy-related information items is higher than the fifth threshold;

[0290] At least one of the first energy-related information items is below the sixth threshold.

[0291] In one implementation, the third condition can be understood as the condition that triggers the second communication device to send an EAS discovery request.

[0292] Based on this, the third condition may include one or more of the following conditions:

[0293] At least one of the following energy-related information: energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, energy efficiency level, and whether it exceeds the fifth threshold;

[0294] At least one of the following energy-related information: energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, energy efficiency level, and whether it is below the sixth threshold;

[0295] For example, if at least one of the first energy-related information of the second communication device—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, energy efficiency level—is higher than the fifth threshold, or if at least one of the first energy-related information of the second communication device—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, energy efficiency level—is lower than the sixth threshold, then the determination of the second communication device satisfies the third condition, triggering a reselection.

[0296] It should be noted that at least one of the first threshold, second threshold, third threshold, fourth threshold, fifth threshold, sixth threshold, seventh threshold and eighth threshold in this disclosure may be preset or set according to the actual scenario. This disclosure does not specifically limit the specific value of the threshold.

[0297] In one embodiment, at least one of the first threshold, second threshold, third threshold, fourth threshold, fifth threshold, sixth threshold, seventh threshold, and eighth threshold may be a value of energy consumption, and / or energy efficiency, and / or energy consumption level, and / or energy efficiency level.

[0298] In one implementation, the third condition further includes one or more of the following:

[0299] At least one of the following energy-related information items, excluding energy-saving status;

[0300] At least one of the following is related to first energy, excluding renewable energy.

[0301] In one implementation, an EAS discovery request is sent when at least one of the first energy-related information items does not include an energy-saving state and / or renewable energy. That is, an EAS discovery request is sent when the second communication device is not in an energy-saving state and / or when the second communication device does not have renewable energy supply.

[0302] Operation 102: Receive the first request.

[0303] The first request includes one or more of the following:

[0304] The first request is configured to discover, and / or query, the second communication device;

[0305] The first request is either an edge application server query request or an edge application server discovery request;

[0306] First instruction;

[0307] First time;

[0308] first condition;

[0309] First threshold;

[0310] Second threshold.

[0311] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the first request may be sent by a second communication device, a third communication device, or a fourth communication device. Of course, in the first embodiment, the first request may also be sent with other first communication devices. This disclosure does not limit the device that sends the first request.

[0312] For example, the source first communication device (which provides enabling services for the source second communication device) may send a first request to the target first communication device (which provides enabling services for the target second communication device) to enable the target first communication device to discover, and / or query the target second communication device.

[0313] In some instances, "first time" is configured to indicate the selection of a second communication device that meets a first condition within a first time period, and / or, "first time" is configured to indicate the selection of a second communication device within a first time period. "First time" can be understood as the first energy-related information being associated with a first time.

[0318] The energy efficiency of the second communication device in the first moment;

[0319] The energy consumption level of the second communication device at the first moment;

[0320] The energy efficiency rating of the second communication device at the first moment.

[0321] Here, "first time" can be a point in time or a range of time.

[0322] In some embodiments, the first instruction includes one or more of the following:

[0323] A first indication is configured to indicate selection and / or determine a second communication device, wherein at least one of the first energy-related information associated with the second communication device is below a first threshold.

[0326] The first instruction is configured to indicate selection and / or determine the second communication device with the highest (maximum) energy efficiency;

[0327] The first instruction is configured to indicate selection and / or determine the second communication device with the lowest (minimum) energy consumption level;

[0328] The first instruction is configured to indicate selection and / or determine the second communication device with the highest (maximum) energy efficiency rating.

[0329] In some embodiments, the first condition includes one or more of the following:

[0330] At least one of the first energy-related information items is below the first threshold;

[0331] At least one of the first energy-related information items is higher than the second threshold.

[0332] Here, "below the first threshold" means that at least one of the first energy-related information items, such as energy consumption, is below the first threshold; "above the second threshold" means that at least one of the first energy-related information items, such as energy efficiency, is above the second threshold.

[0333] For example, the first condition may include one or more of the following conditions:

[0335] Whether at least one of the following energy-related information—energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level—is lower than the second threshold.

[0336] Here, if at least one of the energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level in the first energy-related information is higher than the first threshold, or if at least one of the energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level in the first energy-related information is lower than the second threshold, then the first condition is determined to be met.

[0337] In one implementation, the first condition further includes one or more of the following:

[0338] At least one of the first energy-related information items, including energy-saving status;

[0339] At least one of the first energy-related information includes renewable energy.

[0340] In one implementation, when the first energy-related information includes an energy-saving status and / or renewable energy, it is determined that the first condition is met.

[0341] In one embodiment, the first communication device determines and / or selects a second communication device based on first energy-related information.

[0597] In one implementation, a terminal identifier corresponds to, and / or identifies, a terminal, and / or an application client.

[0598] In one implementation, an application identifier, corresponding to, and / or identifying the application.

[0599] In some embodiments, the fifth communication device can collect EE information per UE, per QoS, or per PDU session in the network. Then, the fifth communication device sends at least one second energy-related information to the first communication device, and the first communication device receives at least one second energy-related information.

[0600] Operation A4: The first communication device sends second energy-related information.

[0601] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the first communication device can send second energy-related information to the second communication device.

[0602] Operate A5, the second communication device receives second energy-related information.

[0603] The second communication device receives second energy-related information through at least one of the following:

[0604] UE Energy consumption information Response;

[0605] Nnef_EventExposure_Notify;

[0606] In one embodiment, the second communication device can directly request second energy-related information from the fifth communication device.

[0607] Operation A6, the second communication device updates and / or generates a first service key performance indicator (KPI) based on at least one of the second energy-related information.

[0608] The first service KPI includes one or more of the following:

[0609] The first service KPI is configured to describe the service characteristics provided by the second communication device;

[0610] The first service KPI includes one or more of the key performance indicators of edge application server services.

[0611] The key performance indicators of the edge application server service are equivalent to, or can be replaced by, EAS Service KPIs.

[0612] In one embodiment, before receiving the second energy-related information, the second communication device generates and / or configures a source first service KPI; after receiving the second energy-related information, the second communication device generates and / or configures a target first service KPI based on the second energy-related information.

[0613] Here, the second communication device updates and / or generates a first service KPI based on at least one of the second energy-related information, including at least one of the following:

[0614] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy consumption corresponding to the terminal identifier is high, and / or the energy consumption level is high, then the second communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target first service KPIs, which is lower and / or smaller than at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0615] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy efficiency corresponding to the terminal identifier is low, and / or the energy efficiency level is low, then the second communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target first service KPIs, which is lower and / or smaller than at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0616] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy consumption corresponding to the terminal identifier is low, and / or the energy consumption level is low, then the second communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target first service KPIs, which is greater than, and / or higher than, at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0617] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy efficiency corresponding to the terminal identifier is high, and / or the energy efficiency level is high, then the second communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target first service KPIs, which is higher and / or larger than at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0618] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy consumption corresponding to the application identifier is high, and / or the energy consumption level is high, then at least one of the target first service KPIs updated and / or generated by the second communication device is lower and / or smaller than at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0619] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy efficiency corresponding to the application identifier is low, and / or the energy efficiency level is low, then at least one of the target first service KPIs updated and / or generated by the second communication device is lower and / or smaller than at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0620] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy consumption corresponding to the application identifier is low, and / or the energy consumption level is low, then the second communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target first service KPIs, which is greater than, and / or higher than, at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0621] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy efficiency corresponding to the application identifier is higher, and / or the energy efficiency level is higher, then the second communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target first service KPIs, which is higher and / or larger than at least one of the source first service KPIs;

[0622] This can be understood as follows: if the second communication device receives the target terminal and / or the target application, and has high energy consumption or a high energy consumption level, then from an energy-saving perspective, the second communication device must adjust at least one of the key performance indicators of the first service downwards, for example, by reducing transmission bandwidth or reducing data rate. This is because the higher the key performance indicator of the first service, the greater the energy consumption.

[0623] This can be understood as follows: if the second communication device receives the target terminal and / or the target application, and has high energy efficiency or a high energy efficiency level, then from an energy-saving perspective, the second communication device needs to adjust at least one of the key performance indicators of the first service upwards. For example, it could reduce transmission bandwidth or speed. This is because higher energy efficiency allows for higher key performance indicators of the first service, improving user experience or perception.

[0624] In one implementation, the fourth communication device may also update and / or generate a second service KPI based on at least one of the second energy-related information. Specifically, refer to the behavior of the second communication device, for example:

[0625] If the second energy-related information indicates that the energy consumption corresponding to the terminal identifier is high, and / or the energy consumption level is high, then the fourth communication device updates, and / or generates at least one of the target second service KPIs, which is lower and / or smaller than at least one of the source second service KPIs.

[0626] Other situations will not be elaborated upon.

[0627] In some embodiments, the method provided by this disclosure includes the following:

[0628] Operate B1, the third communication device, to send the fifth request;

[0629] The fifth request includes one or more of the following:

[0630] The fifth request is configured to acquire, and / or receive, information related to the second energy.

[0631] Application identifier, terminal identifier.

[0632] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the application identifier includes one or more of the following: APP ID; flow description; IP quintuple.

[0633] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the terminal identifier includes one or more of the following: a permanent subscription identifier; a general public subscription identifier; an edge-enabled client identifier; and an application client identifier.

[0634] It should be noted that the fifth request can be a request for the terminal (such as the UE OS) to report information related to the second energy. UE OS refers to the terminal operating system.

[0635] In this disclosure, the terminal (such as UE) may include an operating system (OS), a modem chip, and an application (APP).

[0636] One implementation includes at least one of the following:

[0637] EEC sends a fifth request to UE OS;

[0638] The UE OS sends second energy-related information to the EEC.

[0639] One implementation includes at least one of the following:

[0640] The application client AC sends a fifth request to EEC, requesting to obtain information related to the second energy.

[0641] EEC sends second energy-related information to AC.

[0642] The terminal in this disclosure is also referred to as user equipment (UE). Furthermore, the terminal equipment can also be a chip. This disclosure does not limit the specific form of the terminal.

[0643] Operation B2, the third communication device receives the second energy-related information.

[0644] In some embodiments, the second energy-related information includes one or more of the following:

[0645] The second energy-related information includes information configured to describe terminal energy consumption and / or energy efficiency;

[0646] The second energy-related information includes information configured to describe the terminal's energy consumption level and / or energy efficiency level;

[0647] The second energy-related information includes information configured to describe the energy consumption and / or energy efficiency of the application client;

[0648] The second energy-related information includes information configured to describe the energy consumption level and / or energy efficiency level of the application client;

[0649] The second energy-related information includes information configured to describe the application's energy consumption and / or energy efficiency;

[0650] The second energy-related information includes information configured to describe the application's energy consumption level and / or energy efficiency level;

[0651] Second, energy-related information is associated with the terminal, and / or the application client, and / or the application;

[0652] Terminal, and / or application client, and / or application power consumption;

[0653] Terminal, and / or application client, and / or application energy efficiency;

[0654] Terminal, and / or application client, and / or application energy consumption level;

[0655] Terminal, and / or application client, and / or application energy efficiency rating.

[0656] In this embodiment of the disclosure, if there is an application client and / or at least one application, then the terminal sends at least one second energy-related information to the third communication device. After receiving at least one second energy-related information, the third communication device may filter some of the second energy-related information and send it to the fourth device; some of the second energy-related information is associated with the fourth device.

[0657] Operate B3, the fourth communication device to receive second energy-related information;

[0658] In some embodiments, the fourth communication device receives at least one second energy-related information.

[0659] Operation B4 and the fourth communication device update and / or generate the second service key performance indicators based on the second energy-related information.

[0660] Here, based on at least one second energy-related information, the second service key performance indicators are updated and / or generated.

[0661] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the key performance indicators of the second service include one or more of the following:

[0662] The second service key performance indicator is configured to describe the service characteristics required by the fourth communication device;

[0663] The second service key performance indicator includes at least one of the application client service key performance indicators.

[0664] In one implementation, the application client service key performance indicators are equivalent to, or can be replaced by, AC Service KPIs.

[0665] In one embodiment, before receiving the second energy-related information, the fourth communication device generates and / or configures the source second service KPI; after receiving the second energy-related information, the fourth communication device generates and / or configures the second service KPI based on the second energy-related information, which is the target second service KPI.

[0666] This can be understood as follows: if the fourth communication device receives data from the target terminal and / or the target application, and has high energy consumption or a high energy consumption level, then from an energy-saving perspective, the fourth communication device must adjust at least one of the key performance indicators of the second service downwards, such as reducing transmission bandwidth or speed. This is because a higher key performance indicator of the second service results in a better user experience for the application client and / or terminal, but also increases energy consumption.

[0667] This can be understood as follows: if the fourth communication device receives the target terminal and / or the target application, and has high energy efficiency or a high energy efficiency level, then from an energy-saving perspective, the fourth communication device needs to adjust at least one of the key performance indicators of the second service upwards. For example, it could reduce transmission bandwidth or reduce data rate. This is because higher energy efficiency allows the application client and / or terminal to enjoy higher key performance indicators of the second service, improving user experience or perception.

[0668] This can be understood as follows: if the fourth communication device receives data from the target server and has high energy consumption or a high energy consumption level, then from an energy-saving perspective, the fourth communication device needs to adjust at least one of the key performance indicators of the second service downwards. For example, it could reduce the transmission bandwidth or the data rate. This is because higher key performance indicators of the second service mean greater energy consumption, and better transmission rates and / or communication indicators between the terminal and the application server.

[0669] This can be understood as follows: if the fourth communication device, receiving the target terminal and / or the target application, has high energy efficiency or a high energy efficiency level, then from an energy-saving perspective, the fourth communication device needs to adjust at least one of the key performance indicators of the second service upwards. For example, it might reduce transmission bandwidth or speed. This is because higher energy efficiency allows for higher key performance indicators of the second service, improving user experience or perception. The transmission rate and / or communication indicators between the terminal and the application server can be higher.

[0670] The following will use EES as the first communication device, EAS as the second communication device, EEC as the third communication device, AC as the fourth communication device, and EIF as the fifth communication device as an example to illustrate the communication method provided in this disclosure. Specifically:

[0671] For ease of description, in the embodiments of this disclosure, the EAS currently providing application services to the terminal device is referred to as the source EAS, or the currently connected EAS, or the first EAS; the EES associated with the source EAS is referred to as the source EES, or the currently connected EES, or the first EES; after the application services of the terminal device are switched, the new EAS providing application services to the terminal device is referred to as the target EAS, or the second EAS, and the EES associated with the target EAS is referred to as the target EES, or the second EES.

[0679] In some implementations, the first energy information includes one or more of the following: the power consumed by the server (total) per unit time; the power consumed by the server per unit time to serve a terminal; the power consumed by a session / QoS stream of the terminal; and EAS power consumption.

[0680] The above servers can be replaced with, and / or are equivalent to, EAS.

[0681] In one implementation, in the process described in FIG6, the first energy-related information includes energy consumption-related information, or the first energy-related information can be equivalent to and / or replace energy consumption-related information.

[0682] In some implementations, a subscription or access request includes one or more of the following:

[0683] Terminal identifier; application identifier.

[0684] The second condition is configured to indicate that, if the second condition is met, the first energy-related information is reported. The second condition includes one or more of the following: EAS energy consumption is higher than a first threshold; EAS energy consumption is lower than a second threshold; EAS energy consumption change is higher than a third threshold; EAS is running during the first time period.

[0685] First time;

[0686] Reporting interval: The reporting interval indicates the frequency or number of times that EAS reports energy consumption-related information.

[0687] In one embodiment, the second communication device includes an EAS.

[0688] Operation 502: EAS receives a subscription or receives a request.

[0689] Operation 503: If the second condition is met, the EAS sends energy consumption-related information to the EES.

[0690] In other embodiments of this disclosure, the EES can send energy consumption-related information of the EAS to the 5GC. For example, the EES sends energy consumption-related information to the 5GC (e.g., the EIF) via the NEF.

[0691] In other embodiments of this disclosure, the EEC may request to subscribe to or obtain energy consumption-related information of the EAS from the EES; the AC may request to subscribe to or obtain energy consumption-related information of the EAS from the EEC.

[0692] Here, subscription refers to continuous acquisition, that is, after EES subscribes from EAS, or EEC subscribes from EES, or AC subscribes from EEC, as long as EAS, EES, or EEC meets a certain condition, EAS energy consumption information will be sent to EES, EEC, or AC.

[0693] For example, in the scenario where the EES subscribes to EAS energy consumption information from the EAS, the EAS sends the EAS energy consumption information to the EES as long as the second condition is met. In the scenario where the EEC subscribes to EAS energy consumption information from the EES, the EES forwards the EAS energy consumption information to the EEC as soon as it receives it. In the scenario where the AC subscribes to EAS energy consumption information from the EEC, the EEC forwards the EAS energy consumption information to the AC as soon as it receives it.

[0694] Here, "getting" refers to a single instance of receiving, meaning that after EES sends a request to EAS, or EEC sends a request to EES, or AC sends a request to EEC, EAS, EES, or EEC only responds to EAS with energy consumption information once in response to that request.

[0695] Figure 7 is a flowchart illustrating a method for obtaining EAS information in a single operation by an EEC according to an embodiment of this disclosure. As shown in Figure 7:

[0696] Operation 601: The EEC sends an EAS information provisioning request to the EES.

[0697] The EAS information acquisition request is configured to acquire first energy-related information, and / or acquire EAS energy consumption information, and / or acquire EAS energy consumption.

[0698] In this disclosure, energy consumption information can be understood as, and / or replaced by, energy consumption.

[0699] Operation 602: EES validates and processes the EAS information request. If the validation passes, EES obtains the EAS energy consumption information.

[0700] Here, the energy consumption information from EAS can be sent by EAS.

[0701] Operation 603: EES sends EAS information to EEC and receives a response (EAS information provisioning response), which includes EAS energy consumption information.

[0702] Figure 8 is a flowchart illustrating a method for EAS discovery based on EAS energy consumption information provided in an embodiment of this disclosure, as shown in Figure 8:

[0703] Operation 701: The EEC sends an EAS discovery request to the EES.

[0704] The EAS discovery request is configured to query, identify, or discover a target EAS, and the request includes one or more of the following:

[0708] First threshold; second threshold.

[0709] Here, the first threshold and / or the second threshold can be the energy consumption value, and / or the energy consumption level value, and / or the energy efficiency value, and / or the energy efficiency level value.

[0713] Here, before EES determines the target EAS, an authorization check is required.

[0714] When EES discovers that the request includes a first indication, EES selects a server that meets the first condition;

[0715] When EAS detects a request that includes "first time", EES selects the server that meets the first condition in the first time.

[0716] Here, the following conditions must be met: at least one of the following: energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level of the target EAS is lower than the second threshold; at least one of the following: energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level of the target EAS is higher than the first threshold; energy-related information of the target EAS includes energy-saving status; energy-related information of the target EAS includes renewable energy.

[0727] In one implementation, the aforementioned server can be replaced with, and / or equivalent to, Target EAS.

[0728] The first threshold, and / or the second threshold, may be an energy consumption value, and / or an energy consumption level value, and / or an energy efficiency value, and / or an energy efficiency level value.

[0729] Operation 802: Source EES decides to execute application context relocation.

Optionally, the application context may also include the subscription context of the one or more users on EAS and the core network, such as the subscription transaction identifier. Optionally, the application context may also include the context of the one or more users on EES, such as the transaction identifier of the subscription for the one or more users in EAS.

[0731] Operation 803: The Source EES communicates with the edge configuration server (ECS) to retrieve the Target EES.

[0732] Here, the ECS is responsible for configuring the edge data network, such as providing EES information to terminal devices. It can also directly provide application instance information to terminal devices, and interact with the application's DNS to obtain application instance information. Furthermore, it obtains and stores application instance and IP address information from other functional entities.

[0733] Operation 804: Source EES sends an EAS discovery request to Target EES.

[0734] The EAS discovery request is configured to identify or discover a Target EAS, and the discovery request includes one or more of the following:

[0759] In one implementation, the aforementioned server may be replaced with, and / or equivalent to, a second EAS.

[0760] Operation 902: The Target EES sends an EAS discovery response to the Source EES, which includes information related to the second EAS address.

[0761] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the Target EES compares the energy consumption-related information subscribed to or obtained from at least one EAS with the parameters in the EAS discovery request to determine the second EAS.

[0787] Figure 12 is a flowchart of a method for EAS switching based on EAS energy consumption information provided in an embodiment of this disclosure, as shown in Figure 12:

[0788] Operation 1101: AC sends an EAS discovery request to EEC.

[0796] In one implementation, the aforementioned server can be replaced with, and / or equivalent to, Target EAS.

[0797] Operation 1102: EEC performs request validation and / or sends EAS discovery.

[0798] Here, the EAS discovery corresponding to EEC can be achieved by EEC sending an EAS discovery request to EES, EES selecting a Target EAS, and sending the address information of the Target EAS to EEC through an EAS discovery response.

[0799] When EAS discovers that the request includes a first instruction, Target EES selects a server that meets the first condition;

[0800] When EAS detects a request that includes the first time, Target EES selects the server that meets the first condition in the first time.

[0801] Here, the following conditions must be met: at least one of the following: energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level of the target EAS is lower than the second threshold; at least one of the following: energy consumption, energy consumption level, energy efficiency, and energy efficiency level of the target EAS is higher than the first threshold; energy-related information of the target EAS includes energy-saving status; energy-related information of the target EAS includes renewable energy.

[0802] Operation 1103: The EEC sends an EAS discovery response to the AC, which includes information related to the Target EAS address.

[0803] As can be seen from Figures 9 to 12, when AC, EEC, EES, or EAS determines that the current EAS meets the third condition, the process of selecting a target EAS is triggered. After selecting a target EAS, EES can perform EAS relocation. That is, this disclosure can perform EAS relocation based on EAS energy consumption information.

[0804] Here, the third condition is configured to indicate the selection of the target EAS if the third condition is met; the third condition includes one or more of the following:

[0805] The current energy consumption of EAS is higher than the first threshold;

[0806] The current EAS energy consumption change is higher than the third threshold (mainly referring to an increase in energy consumption exceeding the third threshold).

[0807] The following will describe an exemplary application of adjusting service KPIs based on energy consumption information according to embodiments of this disclosure.

[0808] In one implementation, the AC obtains its own energy consumption information on the terminal and then adjusts its AC Service KPIs based on this information. Changes in the AC Service KPIs affect the selection of the EAS.

[0809] Here, AC Service KPIs are mainly configured for EES to check whether the current EAS meets the AC's KPI indicators.

[0810] It should be noted that upon receiving a request from the EEC, the EES may also collect edge load analytics from the Application Data Analytics Server (ADAES) or performance data from the Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) to determine whether the EAS(s) meets the expected AC service KPIs or the minimum required AC service KPIs.

[0811] Information on some of the AC Service KPIs provided in this disclosure is shown in Table 1:

[0812] Table 1

[0813]

[0814] In one implementation, the AC adjusts source AC Service KPIs and / or generates target AC Service KPIs based on energy consumption-related information.

[0815] In one implementation, when the AC adjusts the source AC Service KPIs and / or generates the target AC Service KPIs, it will affect the QoS requested by the client from the server and / or the network side.

[0816] In this disclosure, in order to achieve energy savings, the AC will be adjusted downwards, and / or, at least one of the AC Service KPIs will be reduced;

[0817] Here, adjusting downwards, and / or lowering at least one of the AC Service KPIs, includes at least one of the following, and / or the AC, and / or UE, performs at least one of the following:

[0818] QoS is reduced when AC interacts with the server;

[0819] The PDU session requested by the AC from the network side includes packet filters (used to describe the service data flow, describing the service data flow (SDF))(s); the packet filters include at least one of the target AC Service KPIs;

[0820] The AC sends a request to the UE OS and / or the UE modem; the request is configured to establish a socket connection; the request includes at least one of the target AC Service KPIs;

[0823] Figure 13 is a flowchart of adjusting AC Service KPIs according to an embodiment of this disclosure, as shown in Figure 13:

[0824] Operation 1201: The EEC sends a subscription or acquisition request to the UE OS, configured to acquire power consumption per AC.

[0825] In this embodiment of the disclosure, the energy consumption per AC is the energy consumption provided by the terminal to the APP; the subscription or acquisition request includes one or more of the following: (one or more of the AC IDs in the AC profile);

[0826] Operation 1202: The UE OS sends energy consumption information per AC to the EEC.

[0827] Operation 1203: The EEC sends the corresponding energy consumption information of the AC to the relevant AC.

[0828] Operation 1204: The AC adjusts or generates Service KPIs based on energy consumption information to reduce the impact on terminal power consumption.

[0829] Operation 1205: When one or more Service KPIs corresponding to AC decrease, a new EAS discovery process can be executed, triggered by AC.

[0830] In this disclosure, energy consumption-related information and / or energy consumption information may be equivalent to, or replaced by, a first energy-related information and / or a second energy-related information.

[0831] It should be noted that the new EAS discovery request carries new service KPIs.

[0832] In another implementation, the per-UE energy consumption information or per-APP energy consumption information collected by EIF in SA2 is sent to EES, and EES then makes it available to EAS (i.e., the information in SA2 can be made available to either UE or EAS. Of course, SA2 can collect per-UE, per-QoS, or per-PDU session EE information). EAS adjusts EAS Service KPIs based on the energy consumption information and considering network-side energy saving. Here, EAS Service KPIs refer to the relevant service indicators that can be provided to AC.

[0833] Table 2 shows some of the EAS Service KPIs information provided in this public disclosure:

[0834] Table 2

[0835]

[0836] It should be noted that connection bandwidth and maximum request rate can affect the per-UE or per-APP energy consumption statistics in EIF.

[0837] In one implementation, the EAS adjusts source EAS Service KPIs and / or generates target EAS Service KPIs based on energy consumption-related information.

[0838] In one implementation, when EAS adjusts source EAS Service KPIs and / or generates target EAS Service KPIs, it will affect the QoS requested by EAS from the network side.

[0839] In this disclosure, in order to achieve energy savings, EAS will adjust downwards, and / or reduce at least one of the EAS Service KPIs:

[0840] Here, adjusting downwards, and / or lowering at least one of the EAS Service KPIs, including at least one of the following, and / or, EAS and / or AF, performing at least one of the following:

[0841] The QoS of EAS interactions with clients and / or UEs is reduced;

[0842] The QoS of the EAS request is reduced;

[0843] The QoS requested by EAS from the network side includes Packet Filters (which describe the Service data flow, SDF(s)); these packet filters include at least one of the target EAS Service KPIs.

[0844] EAS, and / or AF, sends a request to at least one of the core network devices, the request being configured to establish QoS; the request includes at least one of the target EAS Service KPIs.

[0845] EAS, and / or, AF sends Nnef_AFsessionWithQoS_Create to at least one of the core network devices, the AF session creation request with QoS carrying at least one of the target EAS Service KPIs;

[0846] EAS, and / or, AF sends Nnef_AFsessionWithQoS_Update to at least one of the core network devices, the update carrying at least one of the target EAS Service KPIs in the AF session request with QoS.

[0847] Figure 14 is a flowchart of adjusting EAS Service KPIs according to an embodiment of this disclosure, as shown in Figure 14:

[0848] Operation 1301: EAS sends a request to EES to obtain UE energy consumption information.

[0849] The request may include one or more of the following: UE ID, AC ID, and APP ID (the APP ID is mainly mapped to the server's IP address or other application identifier or traffic filtering information).

[0850] Operation 1302: EES acts as AF, requesting energy consumption information from EIF.

[0851] Operation 1303: The EES matches the energy consumption information provided by the EIF to the specific ACID and UE ID, and then sends it to the EAS (UE Energy consumption information response).

[0852] Operation 1304: EAS adjusts Service KPIs based on relevant energy consumption information to reduce network energy consumption, such as adjusting the bandwidth to a specific AC.

[0853] Operation 1305, EAS, or EES triggers a new EAS discovery process.
