[0003] PUMP WITH DUST PROTECTION DEVICE
[0004] The invention relates to a pump with a two-part housing comprising a drive part and a pump part, which are connected to each other by webs, and with a drive shaft extending from the drive part into the pump part.
[0005] In particular, the invention relates to a so-called submersible pump which can be installed in such a way that the pump part is immersed in the medium to be pumped while the drive part is located outside of this medium.
[0006] The object of the invention is to create a pump that is less prone to wear and tear and is also suitable for use in cleanrooms.
[0007] This problem is solved according to the invention by a dust protection device with at least two cover parts detachably held on the webs, which seal off a space enclosed by the webs and traversed by the drive shaft in a dust-tight manner from the outside. TER MEER STEINMEISTER & PARTNER mbB
[0008]
[0009] The dust protection device prevents dust from entering the shaft passages of the drive shaft in the walls of the two housing parts. This protects the seals, bearings, and couplings located in these shaft passages from dust ingress and the resulting wear. Conversely, the dust protection device also prevents abrasion particles from the shaft passages from escaping into the surrounding environment.
[0010] Advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
[0011] In one embodiment, each cover part has a circumferential sealing bead on its peripheral edge, which, when the cover part rests against two of the webs, seals against the webs as well as against the adjacent walls of the drive part and the pump part.
[0012] The drive unit and the pump unit can, for example, be connected by two diametrically opposed webs, which are separated circumferentially by two diametrically opposed windows. In this case, the dust protection device has two cover parts, each of which can be inserted into one of the windows.
[0013] The cover parts can be designed so that they rest against the edges of the struts bordering the window from the outside, and can be held on the struts by means of drawbolts connecting the two cover parts and tensioning them against the struts.
[0014] An exemplary embodiment is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. The drawings show:

[0017] Fig. 2 shows a view of a cover part which, together with another similarly designed cover part, forms a dust protection device for the pump;
[0018] Fig. 3 shows a section along line III-III in Fig. 2;
[0019] Fig. 4 shows a section along line IV-IV in Fig. 2; and
[0020] Fig. 5 shows a section along line VV in Fig. 1.
[0021] The pump shown in Fig. 1 has a housing with a drive part 10 and a pump part 12 and can be set up or installed, for example, in a container not shown, such that the pump part 12 is immersed in the medium to be pumped, while the drive part, which typically contains an electric motor, is located outside the medium.
[0022] The pump section 12 forms a pump chamber that accommodates an impeller (not shown) and has feet 14 on its outer circumference that hold a suction opening formed at the lower end of the pump chamber at a distance from the bottom of the container. At its upper end, the pump section 12 has a mounting flange 16 with which the pump can optionally be attached above the level of the pumped medium to a bracket (not shown).
[0023] The rotor of the electric motor inside the drive unit 10 and the impeller in the pump chamber of the pump unit 12 are connected to each other by a drive shaft 18 and a coupling (not shown). A lower wall 19 of the pump unit 12 and the mounting flange 16 of the drive unit 10 are connected to each other by two webs 20, 22, which are diametrically opposed to each other with respect to the drive shaft 18. [0024]
[0025] The two webs 20 and 22 define two windows 26 in the circumferential direction, one of which faces the viewer in Fig. 1. These windows are each closed by a cover 28, which forms a dust-tight seal against the two webs 20 and 22, the wall 19 of the drive unit 10, and the mounting flange 16. The two covers 28 together form a dust protection device, enabling the pump to meet at least the requirements of protection class IP5x, e.g., IP55 or IP66.
[0026] Figure 2 shows one of the two cover parts 28 in a view from the direction of the drive shaft 18. The cover part 28 has the overall shape of a cylindrically curved shell, tapered at the lower end, and can be made of stainless steel, for example. Approximately halfway up the shell, two screw bosses 30 are formed, which allow the cover parts 28 to be securely fastened using pull bolts, as will be explained in more detail later. The cover part 28 has a circumferential sealing bead 32 made of a suitable sealing material along its entire circumferential edge. With its two essentially vertically extending branches, the sealing bead 32 seals the edges of the webs 20, 22, while the approximately arc-shaped horizontal branches seal the mounting flange 16 and the wall of the pump part 12, respectively.On the end walls of the cover part 28, two centering humps 34 are formed, which engage in the window 26 bounded by the two webs 20, 22. As can be seen in the sectional view in Fig. 4, one of the two screw bosses has a through bore 36, while the other screw boss has a blind bore 38 with an internal thread.
[0027] Fig. 5 shows the drive shaft 18 and the two webs 20, 22 in section and the two cover parts 28 in top view. The two cover parts are connected to each other by drawbolts 40, each of which extends with its head end through the through-hole of one cover part and is connected to the other.
[0028]
[0029] The ends are screwed into the blind bore 38 of the other cover part. In this way, the two cover parts 28 are tensioned against the edges of the webs 20, 22, compressing the vertical branches of the sealing beads between the cover parts and the webs.
