Abstract
Description
Filter device for beverage bottle neck and beverage bottle
[0001] The invention relates to the field of beverage bottles, in particular water bottles.
[0002] The bottled beverage sector includes mineral water, natural water, and water supplied by a drinking water network and bottled by an operator or user. Mineral water is subject to various regulations, including those prohibiting certain treatments. Commercially purchased bottled water may also contain particles from the bottling process or from the bottle material itself.
[0003] Drinking water supply networks suffer from aging infrastructure, the risk of intrusion, passive or malicious, of foreign matter and the risk of progressive degradation of pipes which can load the transported water with particles from a pipe wall.
[0004] More specifically, the invention relates to a filter device intended to be inserted into the neck of a beverage bottle, in particular a water bottle.
[0005] The Applicant realized that the existing filters were bulky and unsuitable for use with a full cylinder. Furthermore, the filters protruding from the cylinder in the operating position posed a risk to the seal, in addition to their impractical size.
[0006] US2023133952 describes a water purification filter for the opening of a water container. The filter comprises a sleeve with a female screw for coupling to a threaded neck of the container opening and a male screw for coupling to a container cap; a first filter inside the sleeve for purifying the water discharged from the container; a second filter for purifying the water purified by the first filter; and a cap at the lower end of the sleeve into which the first filter is recessed and which has an opening for the passage of the water discharged from the container. The sleeve includes a water leakage prevention projection for inserting the upper end of the container opening into the upper end of the first screw. The projection comprises an outer frame extending upwards from the upper part of the female screw end, a sealing frame curved inwards from the upper part of the outer frame end and in close contact with an upper surface of the mouthpiece, and an inner frame bent downwards from one end of the sealing frame and in contact with an inner circumferential surface of the mouthpiece. The second filter comprises an upper mounting plate coupled to an upper assembly groove inside the sleeve and having an upper filter element formed in a lower terminal portion, a lower mounting plate coupled to a lower assembly groove having a lower filter element formed in an upper terminal portion, and a filter unit between the upper and lower mounting plates. The hood opening is positioned along an outer periphery of a central blocking plate, so that the evacuated container water is introduced from the outside of the first filter.
[0007] The filter has an outer diameter larger than that of the opening, protrudes significantly both axially outwards from the opening and axially into the container. This bulk makes the filter inconvenient to carry in a pocket, increases the overall length of the container fitted with the filter (potentially damaging it), and risks causing the container, when placed on the filter, to overflow when filled to a normal water level. The filter is also quite heavy. Furthermore, the Intel filter is difficult to use with a lid connected to a container by a tab.
[0008] The invention relates to a particularly compact filter, preserving the normal operation of a cap associated with the container, adapted to different types of discreet container and able to be easily transported.
[0009] The invention improves the situation. To this end, it proposes a filter device for the neck of a beverage bottle, comprising a peripheral ring forming a seal, an activated carbon filter pellet, a ring disposed on one side of the filter pellet and inside the peripheral ring, and a grid disposed on the opposite side of the filter pellet and inside the peripheral ring, the peripheral ring being made of a flexible material, the peripheral ring having an internal groove and an external rib intended to be inserted into a beverage bottle neck, the ring and the grid being arranged tightly in the internal groove, the ring having an L-shaped cross-section with an axial wall in contact with the internal groove of the peripheral ring and a radial wall in contact with an edge of the internal groove of the peripheral ring,The grid comprises an axial wall and a disc having a central part and a solid part surrounding the central part, the axial wall connecting to the solid part, a plurality of holes passing through the central part, the axial wall of the grid being crimped into the axial wall of the ring, the filter pellet being held axially between the central part of the grid and the radial wall of the ring and radially by the axial wall of the grid.
[0010] In one embodiment, said holes are square. Alternatively, the holes are circular.
[0011] In one embodiment, said holes are regularly spaced. The pellet is in contact with the liquid over a wide area.
[0012] In one embodiment, the grid and ring are made of stainless steel or aluminum alloy. The filter is recyclable and can be regenerated in a kitchen oven.
[0013] In one embodiment, the grid and the ring have equal outer diameters. The risk of injury is reduced.
[0014] In one embodiment, the inner groove of the peripheral ring is surrounded by rims, the inner groove having an axially oriented annular base, the rims being inclined, the outer rib being positioned opposite the inner groove, the peripheral ring being made of silicone or an elastomer, in particular rubber. The peripheral ring holds the ring and the grid together while remaining stable during insertion.
[0015] In one embodiment, the filter tablet is made of activated carbon. The purification is of a high level.
[0016] In one embodiment, the filter pellet is made of activated carbon from Quercus phillyraeoides, specifically Ubamegashi. This activated carbon has a high adsorption capacity, making it effective at removing impurities, toxins, and contaminants. The activated carbon may also possess antibacterial properties. Ubamegashi charcoal exhibits high porosity and specific surface area, further enhancing its effectiveness in purification applications. Because it is derived from a plant source, Ubamegashi charcoal is produced sustainably. Thus, Quercus phillyraeoides activated carbon offers advantages in terms of both efficiency and sustainability.
[0017] In one embodiment, the activated charcoal is made from coconut shell.
[0018] In one embodiment, the activated charcoal has a mass between 20 and 50 grams.
[0019] In one embodiment, the filter pellet and the outer rib of the peripheral ring are coplanar. The device is compact.
[0020] In one embodiment, the device has a height between 5 and 30 mm.
[0021] In one embodiment, the device has a diameter between 25 and 35 mm.
[0022] In one embodiment, the device exhibits axial symmetry.
[0023] In one embodiment, the filter pellet is traversed by through holes.
[0024] In one embodiment, the filter pellet has an upper region disposed between the grid disk and the radial wall of the ring, and an upper region projecting axially beyond the ring. The filter pellet may be taller than the ring.
[0025] In one embodiment, the ring comprises a tubular wall extending from the radial wall opposite the grid and a bottom at the end of the tubular wall.
[0026] In one embodiment, openings are provided in the tubular wall. A high flow rate is obtained.
[0027] In one embodiment, activated carbon granules are arranged inside the tubular wall. High-level filtration can be achieved.
[0028] In one embodiment, the activated carbon grains are in the form of beads.
[0029] In one embodiment, the activated carbon grains are retained by the filter tablet.
[0030] In one embodiment, the activated carbon is in the form of a block.
[0031] In one embodiment, the activated charcoal grains are retained by a grid.
[0032] The invention provides a beverage bottle comprising a bottle body and a neck, equipped with a filter device as described above, hermetically sealed within the neck. The invention makes it possible to obtain a beverage bottle, particularly for water, comprising a bottle body and a neck, equipped with a filter device. The filter device is hermetically sealed within the neck of the bottle. The bottle retains its original dimensions after being fitted with the filter. The filter is separate from the bottle, so users can purchase their filter cap and store it for several months for multiple uses, whether the bottle is empty or full of water. The cap is adaptable to mineral or spring water bottles on the market.

[0042] The drawings and description below contain, for the most part, elements of a definite nature. They can therefore not only serve to better explain the present invention, but also contribute to its definition, if necessary.
[0043] In one embodiment, a filter device 1 for the neck 51 of a beverage bottle is proposed. The filter device 1 is designed to be inserted into the bottle 50. The filter device 1 is inserted through the opening 52 of the bottle 50. More specifically, the filter device 1 is designed for insertion into the neck 51 of the bottle 50 and retention within said neck 51. The purpose of the filter device 1 is to cooperate with the inner wall 53, particularly the bore, of the neck 51 in order to prevent liquid from flowing into the neck 51 outside of the filter. Thus, a liquid contained in the bottle 50, for example water, benefits from the filtration provided by the filter. The filter device 1 is also capable of filtering undesirable chemical species, including plastic residues and other substances unfit for consumption, particularly PFAS.
[0044] The filter device 1 comprises a peripheral ring 10, a filter pellet 20, a ring 30, and a grid 40. The peripheral ring 10 forms a seal. The peripheral ring 10 is made of a flexible material. The peripheral ring 10 is designed to make a tight seal with the inner wall 53 of a bottle neck 51. The filter pellet 20 is made of activated carbon. The activated carbon is preferably Binchotan. The filter pellet 20 is positioned inside the peripheral ring 10. The filter pellet 20 is permeable to liquids, particularly water. The filter pellet 20 may be annular.
[0045] For this purpose, through holes 24 can be provided in the filter pad 20. The holes 24 can have a diameter of 1 to 6 mm.
[0046] The filter device 1 has an external disc shape with a thickness less than its radius. Binchotan activated carbon filters volatile organic compounds (VOCs), pesticides, herbicides, certain heavy metals such as lead and mercury by adsorbing them, chlorine and some chlorine derivatives, suspended solid particles, and can help reduce the bacterial load in water by adsorbing certain bacteria and creating an environment less favorable to their growth.
[0047] The ring 30 is positioned on one side of the filter pellet 20, for example, on the upstream or downstream side. The ring 30 is positioned inside the peripheral ring 10. The ring 30 is positioned in contact with the peripheral ring 10, specifically in contact with an inner surface of the peripheral ring 10. The grid 40 is positioned on the opposite side of the filter pellet 20, that is, on the side of the filter pellet 20 opposite the ring 30. The grid 40 is positioned inside the peripheral ring 10. The grid 40 is mounted in contact with the peripheral ring 10, specifically in contact with an inner surface of the peripheral ring 10. The grid 40 holds the filter pellet 20 in place.
[0048] The 40 grid is made of metal, specifically stainless steel or aluminum alloy. The 40 grid is a single piece. The 40 grid can be cast or machined. The 40 grid can have a thickness of 0.2 to 3 mm. The 30 ring is made of metal, specifically stainless steel or aluminum alloy. The 30 ring is a single piece. The 30 ring can be cast or machined. The 30 ring can have a thickness of 0.2 to 3 mm.
[0049] In the illustrated embodiment, the ring 30 has an L-shaped cross-section. The ring 30 comprises an axial wall 31 in contact with the peripheral ring 10 and a radial wall 32 in peripheral contact with the peripheral ring 10. The axial wall 31 connects to the radial wall 32 at the larger diameter end of the radial wall 32. The radial wall 32 connects to the axial wall 31 at one end of said axial wall 31. The radial wall 32 leaves a central opening. The radial wall 32 retains the filter pellet 20.
[0050] The grid 40 comprises an axial wall 41 and a disk 42. The disk 42 has a central portion 43 and a solid portion 44. The solid portion 44 surrounds the central portion 43. Both the solid portion 44 and the central portion 43 are flat. The axial wall 41 connects to the solid portion 44 at one end of said axial wall 41. The axial wall 41 connects to the solid portion 44 at a distance from the peripheral edge of the solid portion 44, for example, at a distance of between 0.5 and 2 mm.
[0051] In one embodiment, the grid 40 and the ring 30 have equal outside diameters.
[0052] The axial wall 41 of the grid 40 is crimped inside the axial wall 31 of the ring 30. The crimping is slightly tight to allow for non-destructive disassembly. The filter pad 20 is held axially between the central part 43 of the grid 40 and the radial wall 32 of the ring 30. The filter pad 20 is held radially by the axial wall 41 of the grid 40, the axial wall 41 of the grid 40 forming a skirt inside the axial wall 31 of the ring 30. The grid 40 and the ring 30 form an annular housing. The housing has a height less than its radius. The height of the housing can be between 2 and 10 millimeters. The radius of the housing can be between 5 and 20 millimeters.
[0053] The activated carbon filter tablet 20 is placed in the housing. The activated carbon filter tablet 20 can be sized to fit the housing. The activated carbon filter tablet 20 can be slightly tightened in the housing to prevent unwanted movement of the filter tablet 20 within the housing. The filter tablet 20 contains at least one activated carbon tablet.
[0054] Holes 45 are provided in the central part 43. The holes 45 pass through the central part 43. The holes 45 are square. Alternatively, the holes 45 are circular. The holes 45 are between 1 and 2 mm in size. The holes 45 are regularly spaced. The holes 45 are spaced in rows and columns perpendicular to said rows. The number of holes 45 is between 100 and 500, for example, between 300 and 400.
[0055] The peripheral ring 10 is generally annular in shape. The peripheral ring 10 may be symmetrical about a median plane. The peripheral ring 10 may exhibit axial symmetry. The peripheral ring 10 is made of a resilient material, for example, silicone. The silicone may be food-grade. The silicone may be biodegradable. The silicone may be based on polysiloxanes modified with biodegradable functional groups, for example, esters or carboxylic acids. A polysiloxane with fatty acid side chains exhibits interesting flexibility and heat resistance properties, but also decomposition. Such silicones may be formulated by incorporating organic components that promote their decomposition in the environment.
[0056] The peripheral ring 10 has an internal groove 11 and an external rib 12. The external rib 12 is designed to be inserted into the neck 51 of a beverage bottle. The external rib 12 may be rounded. The external rib 12 may have a radius between 2 and 8 mm. The internal groove 11 accommodates the ring 30 and the grid 40. The ring 30 and the grid 40 are tightly fitted within the internal groove 11. The fit is elastic. The internal groove 11 may be limited by a first rim 13 and a second rim 14. The internal groove 11 has an annular base. The annular base of the internal groove 11 is axially oriented. The rims 13, 14 are inclined towards the internal groove 11. In other words, the rims 13, 14 present a surface of decreasing diameter going towards the internal groove 11. On the side of the internal groove 11, the rims 13, 14 can be rounded and convex so as to facilitate good positioning of the ring 30 and the grid 40.Opposite the internal groove 11, the rims 13, 14 connect to a radial surface 15, 16.
[0057] The axial wall 31 of the ring 30 is in contact with the internal groove 11 of the peripheral ring 10. The free end of the axial wall 31 of the ring 30 abuts against the axial wall 41 of the grid 40. The radial wall 32 of the ring 30 is in contact, by its large diameter end, with the first rim 13 of the internal groove 11 of the peripheral ring 10.
[0058] The axial wall 41 of the grid 40 is in contact, by its peripheral end, with the second rim 14 of the internal groove 11 of the peripheral ring 10. In the mounted state, the rims 13, 14 of the groove of the peripheral ring 10 hold together the grid 40 and the ring 30.
[0059] In other words, the peripheral ring 10 is delimited by two parallel planes normal to an axis. The two radial surfaces 15, 16 of the peripheral ring 10 lie in said parallel planes. From said two radial surfaces 15, 16, opposite said axis, the peripheral ring 10 comprises two concave annular surfaces and a convex annular surface joining the two concave annular surfaces. The convex annular surface forms the rib 12. From the two radial surfaces 15, 16, towards the axis, the peripheral ring 10 comprises two convex annular surfaces 17, 18 and an axial surface joining the two convex annular surfaces 17, 18. The axial surface forms the bottom of the internal groove 11. The two convex annular surfaces 17, 18 form the rims 13, 14 of the internal groove 11. The two convex annular surfaces 17, 18 may be convex. The two convex annular surfaces 17, 18 may be rounded. The two convex annular surfaces 17, 18 can be in arc of a circle.
[0060] As can be seen in Figure 1, the filter device 1, as described with reference to Figure 2, is disposed in a neck 51 of a bottle 50. As illustrated, the neck 51 includes an annular groove 54. The filter device 1 is held in the annular groove 54. The peripheral ring 10 occupies said annular groove 54. A seal is ensured between the peripheral ring 10 and the neck 51. A seal is ensured between the peripheral ring 10 and the ring 30. A seal is ensured between the peripheral ring 10 and the grid 40. Liquid flows through the filter device 1. The filter device 1 is held in place in the neck 51 even if the bottle 50 is inverted. The filter pellet 20 can be easily replaced by disassembling the filter device 1 and then reassembling it. Between these two steps, the filter tablet 20 can be replaced or regenerated.
[0061] As can be seen in the figure, the filter device 1 is shown in exploded view with the outer ring, the ring 30, the grid 40, and the filter disc 20 separated and spaced apart. In practice, the components of the filter device 1 are assembled. The filter device 1 is then inserted into the neck 51 of the bottle. The bottle cap 50, for example, the original cap of the bottle 50, can be securely replaced on the bottle 50 by clipping or screwing it in place.
[0062] Thus, the liquid, particularly water, contained in the container is protected from external contamination, and the liquid is further filtered during a sampling of the liquid air. The liquid exiting the container can therefore be rid of physical and chemical contaminants.
[0063] The filter device 1 is suitable for water bottles with a screw-on neck (51) of 28 or 30 mm diameter. The filter device 1 is designed to be inserted into the neck (51) allowing the cap to be replaced.
[0064] In one embodiment, a filter device 1 is inserted into the neck of a water bottle.
[0065] In one embodiment, a filter device 1 includes a peripheral ring 10 forming a flexible seal, an activated carbon pellet, and a central capsule inside the peripheral ring 10. The central capsule includes a ring 30 disposed on one side of the pellet 20, and a grid 40 disposed on the opposite side of the pellet 20. The peripheral ring 10 has an internal groove 11 and a rib 12 projecting radially outwards. The central capsule is clamped in the internal groove 11. The ring 30 comprises an axial wall 31 in contact with the internal groove 11 of the peripheral ring 10 and a radial wall 32 in contact with a rim of the internal groove 11 of the peripheral ring 10. The grid 40 comprises an axial wall 41 and a disc 42 perforated by a plurality of holes 45. The axial wall 41 connects to the solid portion 44. The axial wall 41 of the grid 40 is fixed in the axial wall 31 of the ring 30.The pellet 20 is held axially between the grid 40 and the radial wall 32 of the ring 30 and radially by the axial wall 41 of the grid 40. During use, the liquid passes through the capsule and the pellet 20 and is thus filtered.
[0066] In this embodiment, the filter pellet 20 comprises an upper region 21 situated between the disc 42 of the grid 40 and the radial wall 32 of the ring 30. Furthermore, the filter pellet 20 comprises a lower region 22 projecting axially beyond the ring 30. The upper region 21 and the lower region 22 are delimited by an annular shoulder 23 bearing against the radial wall 32 of the ring 30. The annular shoulder 23 may be radial. The filter pellet 20 may be a single piece. The upper region 21 and the lower region 22 may be concentric. The upper region 21 has an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the lower region 22. The lower region 22 may have a height between 5 and 50 mm. A significant volume is available for the filter pellet 20 with a constant outer diameter.
[0067] Holes 24 are provided in the filter pad 20. The holes 24 pass through from an upper face to a lower face. The holes 24 may be parallel to an axis of the filter pad 20. The number of holes 24 may be less than or equal to the number of holes in the grid 40. The holes 24 may be straight or helical.
[0068] In this embodiment, the ring 30 comprises a tubular wall 33 extending from the radial wall opposite the grid 40 and a bottom 34 at the end of the tubular wall 33. Openings 35 are provided in the tubular wall 33. A high flow rate is obtained. Activated carbon granules can be arranged inside the tubular wall 33. High-level filtration can be achieved. The activated carbon granules can be retained by the filter pellet or by a grid.
[0069] In addition, a filter cartridge or tablet can be placed in the tubular wall 33. The filter cartridge can be clipped in.
[0070] The filter device 1 includes an upper reservoir 60. The upper reservoir 60 has a diameter larger than the neck diameter of a standard bottle. The upper reservoir 60 has an outside diameter between 40 and 60 mm. The upper reservoir 60 has a height between 50 and 80 mm. The upper reservoir 60 is designed to fit over the neck of a standard bottle. The upper reservoir 60 may be fitted with a cap 70. The upper reservoir 60 is connected to the filter disc 20. The upper reservoir 60 is designed to fill with the beverage when the lower section 22 is inserted into the beverage bottle. This insertion causes the beverage to rise in the bottle and through the filter device 1 to the upper reservoir 60.
[0071] In one embodiment, the lower region 22 has an outer diameter smaller than the bore diameter of the upper region 21. Thus, the lower region 22 is able to slide within the upper region 21. This makes it possible to insert the lower region 22 from above, for example, before or after the upper region 21 has been installed on the beverage bottle. At the end of its movement, the lower region 22 clips into the upper region 21. A clipping mechanism is provided for this purpose.
[0072] In this embodiment, the central part 43 of the grid 40 has a central circular hole 46, oblong holes 47 distributed around it, and notches 48 on the outer edge. The central part 43 of the grid 40 may have a thickness between 1.0 and 2.5 mm.
[0073] A lower grid 48 can be installed. The lower grid 48 is connected to the central part 43 by pins 49. There may be 3 to 9 pins 49, for example, 6. The lower grid 48 may have a central circular hole, oblong holes distributed around it, and notches on the outer edge. The lower grid 48 may have a shape similar to that of the central part 43 of the grid 40. The lower grid 48 may have a thickness of between 1.0 and 2.5 mm. The disc may be positioned between the central part 43 and the lower grid 48.
[0074] In this embodiment, a lower grid 48 is disposed under the radial wall 32 of the ring 30. The lower grid 48 may be in contact with the radial wall 32 of the ring 30. The lower grid 48 is in contact with the peripheral ring 10, in particular with the second rim 14. The second rim 14 can retain the lower grid 48. The outer diameter of the lower grid 48 is greater than the inner diameter of the second rim 14 in its free state.
[0075] The lower grid 48 supports a rod 80 directed downwards from said lower grid 48. The rod 80 is located in the center of the lower grid 48. The rod 80 has no internal opening, for example, a solid one. The rod 80 carries a reservoir 81. The reservoir 81 has perforations 82 to allow the beverage to circulate while submerged after insertion into the bottle. Activated carbon is arranged in the reservoir 81 in one of the forms described above.
[0076] The reservoir 81 has a cylindrical shape coaxial with the rod 80. Perforations 82 are provided in an upper wall and in the lower part of a cylindrical side wall.
[0077] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, but encompasses all variants conceivable by a person skilled in the art.
